Onderwerp van gesprek: de motie van Aartsen, die op veel steun kon rekenen in de Kamer. Deze motie stelt dat het niet de primaire taak van pensioenfondsen is om ‘activistisch of ideëel’ te beleggen. Volgens Aartsen moet rendement voorop staan.
Zijn motie leidde tot veel kritiek uit de pensioensector. Die meent dat het gaat om een gezonde balans tussen rendement, risico en esg-criteria. Aartsen vreest dat pensioenfondsen geneigd zijn hun oren naar de politiek te laten hangen. 'Politici zullen altijd likkebaardend naar de potten met geld kijken’, aldus Aartsen. Het is aan pensioenfondsen weerstand te bieden aan de beleggingswensen uit de politiek, stelde hij.
