For this episode, David is joined by Yemado, North America´s foremost teacher of Boabom, which is a Tibetan system of meditation and martial art. Yemado has been practising it for almost 25 years. He has just launched an app called Your Boabom Journey to enable people across the world to learn this powerful art without having to attend physical classes.

Yemado explains how Boabom simultaneously enables you to exercise, breathe better, meditate, and build mental and emotional resilience. Boabom empowers you to be the person you want to be even in highly stressful situations. The episode includes some Boabom exercises.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Boabom is an ancient Himalayan practice that until recently was mostly passed down through families and tribal lineage.
  • It works on the whole body from the toes to the eyes.
  • Boabom builds mental and emotional resilience as well as physical resilience.
  • Boabom enables you to become more grounded, so your fight or flight reaction does not immediately take over. Instead, rather than being overwhelmed by fear and anger, you respond in a more reasoned way.
  • It enables you to address all of your fitness and wellness needs in one session.
  • The app includes short sessions, making it easy to fit into your day.
  • It is possible to practice some of the techniques while walking or doing other things.
  • There are different branches. Some classes are slow and gentle, and others focus on elements of defence.

BEST MOMENTS

‘It (Boabom) is unique,’

‘Every movement should challenge you. But you should be able to understand and master it.’

‘The stretching …. really helps us to develop flexibility.’

‘You can develop this kind of like Inner power.’

ABOUT THE SHOW

People with purpose make a difference. Imagine a world where more people can just get their purpose out of them, into a plan and then actually make it happen. What a world that would be - People everywhere finding meaning and harnessing that to bring inspiration and energy to each and every day, changing lives for the better. But no one ever achieved anything on their own - we all have something unique to bring and that means we all have to play our part - if we want to go far, we have to go together and lead or serve towards a vision of the world we want to see. Everyone has a story to tell, and this show is where these stories come to life.

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
