Do you ever feel like you’re living on Mars? Do you sometimes look at the news and, all of a sudden, you hear the Talking Heads song in your head and think “How did I get here?” Do you ever wonder if politicians ask themselves “My God, what have I done?” or “Am I right? Am I wrong?” If you do, then you must have been watching the news about Ron DeSantis, who continues to serve as the Governor of Florida while campaigning for the Republican Party nomination in the 2024 presidential primaries. Add to that his policy on teaching African-American history in schools, and DeSantis has pretty much made everyone ask “What the hell is going on?”
In this episode, I discuss Ron DeSantis, his campaign, and his policies on teaching Black history to middle schoolers in Florida. I describe why he should stop serving as the Governor of Florida while running for the presidency. I explain why we need good messengers for the Republican Party and why I support Nikki Haley’s campaign. I also invite you to reflect on the history of slavery, our country, and women and underscore why history must never be erased.
“I agree that there’s the good, the bad, and the ugly. But when we start erasing history on either side, it sets a very bad course for our country.” - Jennifer Nassour
