Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome into the Ravens Press Pass Podcast. The date is Tuesday,
October fourteenth, and today, after practice, we heard from a
number of Ravens coordinators and assistant coaches as the Ravens
head into the bye week. Today you'll hear from offensive
coordinator Todd Munkin, defensive coordinator Zach Orr, quarterbacks coach Team Martin,
Senior defensive assistant and secondary coach Chuck Pagano, pass rush

(00:27):
coach Chuck Smith, and offensive line coach George Warhawk. We'll
start off with offensive coordinator Todd Munkins.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
One of the things that John Topray yesterday just be
better today.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
I'm shure of yardid situations.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
What in your mind you have to do to be
more successful in those situations?

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Well, it falls into every situation within the game.

Speaker 5 (00:55):
There's all of those that fall into that, whether it's rundowns,
get back on track, third downs, short yardage, two minute,
four minute, the game within the game, it's it's a
number of things. One we can certainly scheme it better.
I say this all the time. It gives you get
tired of me saying it. Scheme it better, call it better,

(01:15):
execute better. That's that's really That's really what it comes
down to. No matter what situation it is. You know,
some of it like the one was, you know, a
gold to gold situation. A couple of times we've had
others were in the red zone of black someone. We've
had penalties, or we've had you know, things that we
just got to do it better.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Do you think.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
That the line has been good enough?

Speaker 7 (01:41):
You know, especially in some of those short yarded situations
that even the guys they they got a blocker or
you know, reading the gaps they got to kind of create.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
Sure, it's not any one thing, it really isn't. I mean,
we've had plenty of opportunities to convert. Like I said,
we just got to call it better. Next keep better
to that point.

Speaker 8 (02:05):
Just to get specific, like I'm those goal to go
with the you know, three cracks from one yard line twice.

Speaker 6 (02:12):
Calling the p tish push play.

Speaker 8 (02:15):
Any regret on that, and it kind of what goes
into that sticky away that versus you know something else.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
I mean, throughout every game, whether we score a lot
or we score a little, not happens a lot less
frequency frequently when you score a lot, But throughout the
game there's calls you're like, maybe not.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
You know, that's just what you do.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
I mean, you take ownership and when it isn't successful
a given play, a given series, a given quarter, a
given game, that's what you do. That's what they pay
us to do. That's what pay our players to do,
which is assess how it went. And obviously whenever it
doesn't go well, you always look at and go, eh,

(03:03):
maybe that wasn't it wasn't right. No, we're not the
only ones everything that we do within a game, so
that those are things we always look at and fight
like hell to fix it. And I know you guys
hear me say that all the time. But that's what
you do.

Speaker 8 (03:15):
When you go into a game knowing that you might
play two different quarterbacks.

Speaker 6 (03:19):
What conversation during the game goes into when you might
pull that trigger?

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Oh I don't know if there's a what conversation goes
into that. I think there's you know, our talk is
all right, how's the game going, where are we at?
You know what, there's other things of playing it. What's
the weather like, what's the score of the game? Do
we need to spark that all those things are a
part of it?

Speaker 9 (03:43):
Obviously it's not easy to back up Lamar Jackson in
terms of expectations and all that. But Coopers a veteran, guys,
Why you guys brought him in here? Why do you
think he struggle? He struggled to find the rhythm in
the last couple weeks, but especially someday.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Oh sorry with me. I mean, we got to do
it better for him. You know, they're there's a lot
of that we can do better offensively for him. We
did a better job in the game the other day.
What I was excited about is we needed to be
able to run the football. We did run the football,
and that's a starting point. Whoever your quarterback is, if
you can run the football, you're going to be an
advantageous down in distances. And we got to do it

(04:17):
better for him. We can certainly play better around him.

Speaker 10 (04:21):
Have changed that led to better results in the run
game on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Well, there was a number of things.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
I mean, it's a different opponent, I mean, different scheme,
certain things we did differently.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
All the above, you.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Guys seem to lead to outside zone and happily work
with twelve of you guys. Is that something that you
think could be a staple for Chris avent I guess
what worked for you guys?

Speaker 11 (04:49):
I think it's the RAMS great question.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
I mean, each game we go into it thinking, okay,
what is our best way to move the football, run pass,
anything that we do, screen game and some games we're
going to lean more heavily on, you know, your outside zone,
your downhill run some maybe more gap schemes. So it's
more teams specific, but we certainly are capable of getting

(05:12):
into you know, whether it's tights on wide zone or
gap schemes right, all of the above, we are certainly
capable of getting to that.

Speaker 8 (05:21):
Where you go from you know, year one, two, year
two and now year three, how much.

Speaker 6 (05:26):
Do you look at.

Speaker 11 (05:29):
The need to.

Speaker 8 (05:30):
Change things up year to year in evaluating that and
do you feel like it's evolved I guess or been
creative whatever you want call it from then to now
and pay different doing getting stuff nowver?

Speaker 4 (05:44):
What a great question it really is.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
You know, from year to year, you take the off
season and you assess, like, what's next, right, what's next?
What's after year one? Okay, what are we going to
do in twenty twenty four? What do we need to
clean up? What can we be better at? Same with
this year. Okay, where can we make that next step?
In some ways we started that way and it felt
like that early and we just got to, like I said,

(06:10):
get our mojo back a little bit. You know, I
think there was a part of that Saturday. I know
it doesn't feel like it because we're three points.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
Is not enough. I mean, I'm not here to say that,
hey boy, was that was great?

Speaker 5 (06:21):
We didn't execute at certain times it would have given
us an opportunity to win the game.

Speaker 11 (06:26):
But you're right, that is what you do.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
You look at things and say, Okay, what is it
that we need to do moving.

Speaker 12 (06:31):
Forward along those lines that when you get to the
BI week, how much of it can you you know
you're not going back to square one, but how much
can you change versus just trying to make sure that
things get executed better?

Speaker 6 (06:42):
What does that self scouting process look like?

Speaker 5 (06:44):
Well, it's so different than the two previous years, the
two last years we've had, they were later, so at
that time we were doing a lot more like okay,
self scout, Like, okay, we've got a huge.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Bank of what we've done.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
We're here, We've got a bank of three and a
half games a little are two and a half of
the other quarterbacks?

Speaker 4 (07:03):
You know, like what does that look like?

Speaker 11 (07:05):
You know?

Speaker 5 (07:05):
So now it's it's a little bit different this year
than it is, Like, all right, where are we at?
What do we need moving forward? What do we need
to certainly improve on?

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Certainly? Scheme better?

Speaker 5 (07:17):
Certainly how can we put our players in a better
position to have success?

Speaker 4 (07:21):
And that's that's everything you do every week.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
This just gives you a chance to step back and
look at it and really drill down as to where
we want to go.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
For the last eleven weeks.

Speaker 7 (07:31):
You've had fumbling issues from from Derek and then this
past game, say, I mean probably not the guys who
are so skate with with bad law security in the
first place, mean, how do you kind of address some
of those issues and and kind of reinforce the bullocks
over your most guys are crazy, haven't made haven't been
making mistakes?

Speaker 5 (07:52):
Well, we rally around them. You know, when it was Derek,
nobody felt worse than Derek. When it's a nobody feels
worse than say, when we're struggling on offense, I sure
sell don't feel good.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
That's part of it.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
And good teams rally around each other and say, how
do we get it right? You know, it's there's not
one person on this team that's going to go without
making mistakes. That's that's being human. Okay, well, how do
we fix that? How do we rally around each other
and keep working together? Because that that is the only answer.
The only answer is to keep fighting collectively together. And

(08:31):
as I said last week, this isn't our first rodeo together.
So like, let's circle it up. We got plenty, let's
figure it out and let's put together a run. Here's
with it. Well, I think is a really good football
team moving forward.

Speaker 7 (08:45):
There has been an adequate sense of collective focus.

Speaker 11 (08:48):
From the audice.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
Do you think since Lamar got hurt there has been
an adequate.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Sense of focus? No?

Speaker 11 (08:53):
I think so.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
No, it's easy to say that based on we haven't
scored enough, no question. I have not seen that out
there the way we practiced. I have not seen that
in our meeting rooms, right, I've not seen that.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
I have not seen that all.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
That's where the frustrating part is, right, when when you're
going on the field and you're not getting the results
that are desired, right, it is frustrating. And all you
can do is just come back in what do we
got to do today? And really focus on today. Anything
else you're thinking about doesn't help right the past or

(09:27):
what's too far down the road? How do we have
the best which I thought we had a great practice today,
How do we have the best Tuesday that we can
possibly have?

Speaker 3 (09:35):
To talk about getting your measure of that.

Speaker 10 (09:37):
Do you feel like offense? Good offense oftentimes is kind
of lament to base data. Once you do get a
couple of good drives or once in the red room
that you really can't kind of get on a roll quickly.

Speaker 5 (09:49):
No, I think it's depends on what lens you want
to look at it, right, there's a number of lenses.

Speaker 11 (09:55):
What do you say?

Speaker 5 (09:56):
I think we're this and I like the way we're headed,
you know, and say we just got to do X
y Z better at the most opportune times. But then
we got to go out and do it. There's only
so much you can talk, right, You got to go
out and do it. You got to go out and execute,
and we got to start with us as coaches and
then down the line when we get opportunities on the field,

(10:19):
cash in on it, like we've done in the past.

Speaker 11 (10:22):
I appreciate you guys. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
That was offensive coordinator Todd Monkin talking Lamar Jackson and
this Raven's offense. Next up on Ravens Press Past podcast,
we have defensive coordinator Zach Orr.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (10:42):
I doing all right already, man, I see Jack.

Speaker 9 (10:48):
I know you guys didn't get to win Sunday, But
what were your takeaways from you know, what looked.

Speaker 6 (10:54):
Like a much more representative defensive show.

Speaker 14 (10:56):
It was a step in the right direction.

Speaker 13 (10:57):
I told you guys that I thought that was the
most intensity that we played with and we started fast,
and that's what we were looking for.

Speaker 15 (11:04):
Man.

Speaker 13 (11:04):
We got to get back to playing, uh, you know,
pissed off and and with an edge. And I felt
like that was the first game this season that we
truly carried that over from the start of the game
throughout the finish. And it was about four or five
plays right in that second half that we felt like
we let the game get away from us. From a
defensive standpoint, we thought we played really well besides those

(11:26):
four or five plays, and ultimately that's what cost us.
So that's what we're chasing right now, just those small
little details we know how close we are, so uh,
you know, our guys are encouraged about about getting better
and it's by week. We just had a real good practice.
We have a good practice tomorrow and then coming back
after the buys is really time to roll and and
continue to build on that.

Speaker 8 (11:45):
Are talking about.

Speaker 10 (11:48):
You.

Speaker 12 (11:48):
How do you do that?

Speaker 11 (11:49):
How do you coach that?

Speaker 7 (11:50):
How do you happen?

Speaker 13 (11:53):
You know it's tough man, you know, you just we
just understand what type of intensity that it takes to
to to win games. And I felt like our guys,
we've been playing with it, but we had to we
had to amput up another love. I think I told
you guys that last weekend we challenged we challenged ourselves,
We challenged our players.

Speaker 14 (12:11):
Last weekend.

Speaker 13 (12:13):
It showed those guys came out with the edge to them,
like I said, the most edge they had this thus
far this year.

Speaker 14 (12:19):
And I think it paid off.

Speaker 13 (12:21):
And I think the way you coaches you show them,
like look at the mindset that we're approaching, Like on
the insert blocks, we're trying to knock the crap out
of the receiver legally instead of just going on there
and just putting hands on his chest and getting off
a block. So it's all about the mentality and approach,
and I liked that our approach was right this game.

Speaker 15 (12:39):
Did you think of Olie Gillman on just a few
days of preparation to beast Man?

Speaker 13 (12:45):
I mean, he came right in on I think he
might have he got in Wednesday morning. I mean that's
the first time I see him. Then he was out there.
He took every rep in practice on defense, so he
was starting. We knew he was gonna play just about
every rep, and he came from a similar system. But
credit to him, credit to Double D and Pegano. Those
guys spend plenty of hours after hours and before hours

(13:05):
getting prepared, and I mean he was directing traffic his
first day in practice, so I knew it was gonna
be a good addition to line up with him. And
then he went out there and played well. So the
more comfortable he gets with the guys and with with
our terminology, the better he's gonna be. Because he was
real good on Sunday.

Speaker 6 (13:22):
Having doctor said you look for you guys may have
thought you were.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
To have when you dropping out time.

Speaker 14 (13:26):
Yeah, I mean it's good to get back to that.

Speaker 13 (13:28):
I mean I think that you see, we were able
to do some things with Kyle and I think I
think that benefited us. I mean, he's a beast and
offenses really have to account for him. So, uh, you know,
now we use that to our advantage. We can make
offenses predictable of where they're gonna slide and uh, where
they're going to run the football.

Speaker 14 (13:45):
So that helps us out a lot.

Speaker 13 (13:46):
And credit to km man, he hasn't played at the
nickel position or din position. It was funny he was
talking in about what since week whatever last year, so
it's been a long time. But I mean he's, like
we said, he's a unicorn, he's a smart player. He
stepped in and Wednesday and kept it going throughout the game.

Speaker 14 (14:03):
So that definitely helps us out a lot.

Speaker 8 (14:05):
Exactly, you know, you trade Dafe gets hurt. Yeah, maybe
you you know, elevate somebody to bring somebody in. What
do you need to do to get more sack? Where's
that coming from?

Speaker 13 (14:20):
I think that we just got to continue to be
better on early downs.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Man.

Speaker 13 (14:24):
We got to be continue to be early better on
first down and then second down.

Speaker 14 (14:28):
We have to be better like a lot right now,
A lot.

Speaker 13 (14:30):
Of teams you see they get the second and long
they get to their third down game plan. Well against us,
they're going quick game where they're even running the ball
to really try to keep or going tempo to try
to keep us out of our third down package.

Speaker 14 (14:42):
So I think that we just got.

Speaker 13 (14:43):
To continue to find different ways and different personnel groups
to to to get pressure.

Speaker 14 (14:49):
And I think that we'll be able to do that.

Speaker 13 (14:51):
I'm excited about this week what we've already done as
as a staff and uh, what we'll be able to
present the coming out of the bye wee. But uh,
we definitely have to, you know, get more sacks and
get to the quarterback and affect the quarterback more. I
think when we do that, you know, we're tough to
score against.

Speaker 7 (15:09):
Look at that sack that Teddy god and also try
and gets in and disrupts, you know, a play call
like that. I mean, obviously, I think that's gonna be what.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
You need more of in the coming weeks.

Speaker 7 (15:19):
Yeah, you know, do you feel like guys are getting
better at their execution on some of your blitz calls?
Do you think you're getting a field for the timing
with this group on.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Some of the blitz calls? What's going on.

Speaker 13 (15:28):
Yeah, I definitely I think that we're getting better with
our execution. Were still not there yet. I mean, we
still had about two or three pressures that we didn't
execute right that cost us on third down and one
on the fourth and three play. So, you know, we
just got to do better preparing our guys for every
situation and we just got to do a better job
of executing. But it is a step in the right direction,

(15:50):
and I think that the better our guys and the
more comfortable guys feel with that, the better they'll be
able to take it to game day. So shoot, we've
been we've been rapid it in practice non start. We
had a lot of pressures today in practice to get
the guys used to the timing, in the tempo of it.

Speaker 14 (16:06):
On game day, you know.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
What I mean.

Speaker 7 (16:08):
For straight losses, there's gonna be fingers pointed. Obviously, you've
had to take a lot of heat from from us
in some of these sessions. John has had your back,
grew up his full stretch, and obviously, you know was
saying so Sunday, you know what has that meant To
have his support kind of throughout through.

Speaker 13 (16:27):
This time, It means a lot, man, It means a
lot I got. I got a lot of respect for
coach Harbors Man. I could spend all day talking about him.
I got a lot of respect for him. I didn't
know him as a man before I got here. I
respected him as a coach, and then as a player,
you know, shoot, great coach mentor, and then gotten closer
to him as I as I became a coach and

(16:47):
just everything he stands for. Nobody works hard in the building.
Nobody's beat him in the building.

Speaker 14 (16:53):
I've tried.

Speaker 13 (16:54):
I just given up, man, So nobody works as hard
as he does to make sure that this organization, not.

Speaker 14 (16:59):
Just the the football team, to.

Speaker 13 (17:01):
Make his organization is running the right way and we're
doing the right thing. And it means a lot to
me that that he supported me, because you know, he's
part of the reason why I'm I'm here and I
want I want to do right, Bob. You know he
doesn't have to. I understand, I'm grown. You know, I
gotta be better. You know, we gotta be better as
a defense. And you know, he's just being a mentor,

(17:23):
a father figure for me for taking a.

Speaker 14 (17:25):
Lot of the heat off of me. And I appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
Man.

Speaker 14 (17:29):
I can't.

Speaker 13 (17:29):
I can't thank him enough, and it's something I'm remember,
you know, forever, So it means a lot. And how
I can show my appreciation to him is continue to
work hard and put a winning defense out there on
the field.

Speaker 9 (17:43):
Last time this team was in that position, what can
you take away from that experience as a player that
might be able to help this group in terms of
turning this around and getting to where you guys want
to be.

Speaker 13 (17:54):
That that first you know, two down fifteen was a
lot different, you know, from a standpoint of man, our
guys is out or the year. You know, so we're
getting we started getting a lot of our guys back.
But you really just tell the guys maybe you're not
far off, man.

Speaker 14 (18:06):
This is the game.

Speaker 13 (18:07):
The league is so competitive, man, and you know it's
like and that in that year, you know, we we
won some games that we really, you know, quote unquote,
we're supposed to win because it comes down to two
or three plays and you just got to keep on
fighting and keep playing. And you know it's teams that
that have started where we started and made the playoffs
and that's what we're focused on starting with Chicago next week.

(18:30):
So really, what I take away from from that year
is that the thing that made that that year memorable
for me was guys stuck together.

Speaker 14 (18:38):
Guys didn't point fingers.

Speaker 13 (18:39):
And guys went out there and competed, uh, you know
every single day. And I will say this that this
team is is different from that team. You know, we
got to go do it, but we got a lot
of our guys that that are gonna be out there
for us.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Do you need Mount tut starts to glow up faster?

Speaker 10 (18:56):
You you know, it just doesn't seem to be on
the run the ball up a lot.

Speaker 7 (19:00):
How do you kind of evaluate how he's played?

Speaker 14 (19:03):
I thought, I think Malachi has played well. I mean,
he's made some rookie mistakes.

Speaker 13 (19:06):
He has some things that he know he has to
clean up, but he's done a good job.

Speaker 14 (19:10):
Man.

Speaker 13 (19:10):
I mean, we haven't getting up with many explosives in
the back end and he's a big part of that.
And you know, the role that we have him playing,
I think that he's he's able to when the ball
does break, he's down the football. He had the one
against Detroit that he missed attack on the long run,
But besides that, he's down the football.

Speaker 14 (19:27):
And the thing that you appreciate about him.

Speaker 13 (19:28):
Is any mistake that he makes, he's not gonna make
the same one again. And you know he shoot, he's
one of the hardest workers on the team as Ricky,
which is impressive. And I just think that, you know,
we just continue to courage him to continue to do
the right thing, continue to be in the right spots,
and his players are gonna happen like he's he's gonna make.
He's gonna make big time, game changing plays for us

(19:49):
throughout this year. So I'm excited about him. He's done
a heck of a job if he has. If he
if he wasn't doing what he was supposed to do,
you know, he wouldn't be out there. So it got
full of trust in Malachi and what he's bringing to
the table.

Speaker 10 (20:01):
It seems like Trenton Simpson is playing at a high level.
If you word have you seen him making he was
in Could he be part of the overall solution with
Tavis after he kind of stepping and fill in an
outside linebacker once rose.

Speaker 13 (20:12):
To Yeah, I think Trent, you know, everything that he's
kind of been through throughout his career, up and down,
you know, in the starting lineup, sitting down for a
little bit in job battles. I think he's handled it well.
And we tell those guys, man, you you know, you
always have to stay ready, and he's done that. And
I think that he's grown so much. He's played two
of his best games the last two weeks, I feel like,

(20:32):
and he's really making an impact. And you know, he
still get a lot better, but I do think that
he's earned the right to definitely be part of the
play going forward.

Speaker 14 (20:41):
And he's a versatile player.

Speaker 13 (20:42):
I think you've seen against the Chiefs, We've used him
in different ways and I think that he'll be able
to continue to do that.

Speaker 14 (20:47):
He's earned those reps. Appreciate, thank you.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
You're listening to Raven's Press Past podcast that was defensive
coordinator Zach Orr.

Speaker 16 (21:04):

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Next up today, you'll hear from quarterbacks coach Team Martin.

Speaker 17 (21:32):
That's a new all right, very well, we have, you know,
like he's planned for the bye week.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
But now hold up research you guys after here.

Speaker 17 (21:42):
We'll get into all that stuff next week about that.
But he's been doing well. He's been staying locked there,
supportive of the guys that's playing, keeping up with what
we're doing, and working as hard as he can to
get back on the field.

Speaker 7 (21:53):
Obviously, it's a big job filling in those shoes, and
Cooper and Tyler been asked to kind of cover a
lot of ground there. But I mean, what do you think,
especially in this last game didn't go right From a
QBX execution.

Speaker 17 (22:08):
Person, well, I thought that both of them prepare well
all throughout the week, and I thought they played well.
You know, you take one play away from Coop where
it starting down, we step up in the pocket, got
a little pressure and you know, the interception and kind
of shared.

Speaker 11 (22:21):
A blame on that one.

Speaker 17 (22:22):
But outside of that, the operation was great. I thought
we for the first time since the first week and
the first drive of the KC game we were able
to stack first down was to give us some sort
of rhythm running the ball, some play actions, things of
that nature. Just got to put it in the end zone.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
We'll get the chance to so.

Speaker 17 (22:40):
And then Tyler came in, you know, fourth quarter off
the mention and gave us a spark and threw the
ball well, made some players with his legs. But ultimately,
if you look for guys to go out run the
system and do the things that we asked them to do,
and I thought both of them did that, really proud
of the way that they were pros about the situation
that they're in. And we just look forward to to
continuing to support each other, whoever's playing Lamar, whoever, Uh,

(23:03):
We're gonna continue to be pros about our jobs and
support each other.

Speaker 9 (23:07):
So you just saluted to it. But this, this is
pretty uncharted territory for the script to be one in five,
knowing you coach Lamar, knowing how these guys view him
as you know, the guy, the leader, how do you
try to approach this not moving forward knowing your one
in five and knowing what kind of run is in
store for you guys, to get to where you want
to get.

Speaker 17 (23:25):
Right, it is about preparing the whole room and prepare
who the starter will be. So we've known Lamar's gonna
be out, so it was Cooper and Tyler. Lamar's back
is gonna be Lamar, and they'll support, but they'll still
be ready to play. But yeah, we got stack wins.
You know, that's what we're all here for, and we're
all competitive. If it doesn't feel good, it's not great.
We gotta sit with it for the week. But but

(23:46):
that's motivation for us to go out and do things
better and give us the opportunity to win our next game.

Speaker 15 (23:52):
Or I guess when Lamar got hurt, he seemed very
precious all.

Speaker 10 (23:56):
You sitting and breaking things down with him.

Speaker 18 (23:57):
I guess, up until that point, how was he How
were you evaluating his play?

Speaker 14 (24:02):
What did he want to work on?

Speaker 17 (24:04):
Yeah, it was it was in game talk, you know,
the the adjustments that were happening during that game, and
we were just locked in on what was going on
at that moment. And uh, I just kind of saw
the way he kind of got up off the ground
and he handed the ball off and he normally carries
out a fake and that kind of saw him wentz
a little bit. So it was kind of in my
mind that when he got to the sideline, we kind

(24:24):
of discussed how he was feeling and ultimately made the
decision that he wasn't going back.

Speaker 11 (24:29):
So, uh, but we we were in a game.

Speaker 17 (24:31):
We were our normal selves, just talking about what the
defense was doing, talking about our next cause, uh, how
I was feeling. We were in the middle of a battle,
and we had some self inflicted things that happened, you know,
had turned the ball over and all that. We were
putting that behind us, and we were trying to talk
about what it was gonna take to win the game.
We were we were pretty locked in into what was
gonna take the win that game until he wasn't playing,

(24:52):
and the the the mindset shifted the Cooper and trying
to get an opportunity to go out and run a
no hold of offense, to try to get us a
score and get back into the game.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Lamar's hands to step back and maybe evaluate those first
three games and what.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
Does he want.

Speaker 17 (25:07):
In our talks, there was some reflection and mainly just
about what we were doing and how he was playing.
Nothing in particular you may have to ask him how
he has viewed that. You know, in the last couple
of weeks, for the most part, it was we.

Speaker 11 (25:20):
Got of the next game.

Speaker 17 (25:21):
You know, Lamar's out and you know that was a bumber,
But the task at hand is right in front of
us with some tough opponents, tough defenses, and we quickly
shifted gears. But he was supportive. He's been around, Uh,
he's been supportive of the guys. He's locked in on
the sideline, hearing all the calls and going over each
series when the quarterbacks come off. So he's been very

(25:42):
much involved and very much in tune to what's going on.

Speaker 7 (25:46):
Lamar's ability is obviously like tied into giving his receiver's
time to get open and making things happen in hocket.
That being said, the number of times he's been hid
already that he's already you know, missed some type with
any and it comes back. Is it going to be
imperative for him to get the ball out faster on average?

Speaker 17 (26:05):
Yeah, Some things are within the players that are called
where we're trying to get the ball out, and sometimes
routs are deeper development. You know, if you're in third
and eight or nine. You're not going to throw the
ball for five yards, you know, And so mixing into
things that you know and you know Todd was just
here before me is kind of a question for him.
But you know, our job is to execute the players
that are called and do the best we can to

(26:27):
get the ball out and when so much that's good
about Lamar is the opportunity to extend plays. And Lamar
is very competitive, and you got to be very careful
with someone who a lot of his gifts are comes
on plays like that. No one has an issue with
that when he's just standing plays and make its supposed
to plays down the field. So me as his coach,
we taper the line of sometimes you hold on to

(26:51):
the seaton and oh my god, you made them all
miss and made the play down the field. And sometimes
you get sacked and that happened. It happens to quarterbacks
that play this style of football. And so as a
staff at times, uh, we we have to put him
in situations to be successful and uh allow them at
sometimes to save themselves from themselves. Uh, because he is
that type of player. Lamar's not a quarterback that gives

(27:14):
up on plays. It's just not his nature. It's just
not how he's made up and so understanding that we're
gonna continue to help him and I think Lamar's gonna
be Lamar, and UH be mindful of that because we
don't want that on our own line. You know, those
guys up there working hard and during the best they
can do.

Speaker 6 (27:29):
You don't know how competitive Lamar is.

Speaker 10 (27:32):
Can you kind of share how he's hid when to
start here mentally and the.

Speaker 17 (27:36):
Team saying what I pint he he he he, I
I I I'm gonna s I'm not gonna speak for him,
but I know just demeanor and just seeing him in
the locker room after the games. He want us to win,
you know, he he wants to win when he's the quarterback.
He wants us to win when he's not the quarterback.

Speaker 10 (27:49):
Uh.

Speaker 17 (27:50):
I think that's the main thing I would say. But
I can't speak for him in terms of what's on
his mind. I but I do know that he he's
motivated and wants us to win football games.

Speaker 11 (27:58):
Have you give you we haven't talked to him a
couple of weeks.

Speaker 8 (28:01):
Have you gotten the sense that he fully believes you
guys could turn this thing around and still get where you.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
Want to go.

Speaker 17 (28:07):
I have no reason to believe that he didn't think
that way. You know, he believes in his teammates, he
believes in his staff, and he's working hard to get
back to be a part of helping us when okay,
all right, thank you, I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
That was quarterbacks coach Team Martin answering questions about Lamar
Jackson and.

Speaker 16 (28:29):
This Ravens offense.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
You'll now hear from senior defensive assistant and secondary coach
Chuck Paganot.

Speaker 10 (28:39):
Would you see from the road he in his first
game and how he's adjusted to being the raven.

Speaker 18 (28:45):
It kind of looked like probably like same like it
looked to you. It looked like he'd been.

Speaker 19 (28:49):
Here for a couple of years. You know. I think
it helped being in a similar system.

Speaker 18 (28:55):
You know, jesse min are out there at Los Angeles
with those guys, so I think there was some carry
over there.

Speaker 19 (29:02):
It was a seamless transition. Credit Double d de Lescio.

Speaker 18 (29:09):
And lohe we call him low, you know, for the
time that they invested, you know, him investing you know,
the morning, afternoon, after practice, late at night, zoom, whatever
it was.

Speaker 19 (29:21):
Double did a great job.

Speaker 18 (29:22):
With him getting him up to speed, and he did
a great job of sacrificing the time and energy needed
to be able to go out there and communicate and
play at a high level.

Speaker 9 (29:32):
He was awesome along those lines that allowed you guys
to shift into more free safety Nickel.

Speaker 6 (29:37):
It's something they had done quite a.

Speaker 9 (29:38):
Bit with Kyle in the past, but it's kind of
your first look firsthand, Seena, What did you like about
that and how big can that be for maybe unlocking
Kyle's playmaking ability being close to the line of scrimm.

Speaker 18 (29:49):
Yeah, just a little bit different picture, you know, for
the offense seeing a guy of Kyle's stature in and
around the line of scrimmage playing Nickel, he's you know,
so everybody's playing you know, pretty much sub defense for
two defense typical Nickel doesn't look like Kyle, so he

(30:10):
covers is gooder or better than most cover corners. He's
a great blitzer's you can't block him, block destruction.

Speaker 19 (30:20):
He's a menace.

Speaker 18 (30:21):
So now you put that guy in and around the
line of scrimmage. From an account standpoint, I mean, they
have to know exactly where he's at, you know, not
only in coverage, but is he coming, is he not coming?
Those type of things, and then you know, again Low
coming in and working with Malachi, the communication it was
it was different, felt different, looked different. I'm sure did

(30:43):
to you guys as well.

Speaker 11 (30:45):
Chuck.

Speaker 8 (30:45):
You know what it's like to sort of be in
the cross airs with unhappy fans.

Speaker 11 (30:49):
I mean, what's been your perspective on.

Speaker 6 (30:54):
What sort of how Zach has dealt with that? And
you know where he'll take it from.

Speaker 19 (30:58):
Here blinders and near me. You know, that's what you
got to do.

Speaker 18 (31:02):
It's like when you do really well and they sing
all your praises like, it's probably not reality, right, And
so when you're doing poorly and they're saying all the
negative stuff that isn't reality either.

Speaker 19 (31:13):
Somewhere in the middle is where reality lies.

Speaker 18 (31:16):
He does a great job of staying the course, staying steady,
blocking all those things out, controlling what he can control,
and those type of things.

Speaker 19 (31:25):
So he's been incredible.

Speaker 9 (31:28):
John has stood behind Zach this whole time and said
that Zach has been uber into getting feedback from people
with more experience like yourself. It is what has that
relationship been like, is you guys try to get this defense.

Speaker 15 (31:38):
Back on track.

Speaker 18 (31:39):
Yeah, yeah, I mean Zach has zero eagle. He knows
this defense inside and out. He's convicted about what we're doing.
He's convicted in his own beliefs. He leans on not
only me, but everybody else in that defensive room. We
all have Zach's back, he's got ours. We're in this
thing together. So it always points to one guy on

(32:02):
game day, you know, the head coach, the o C,
the DC, and you know again when it's going well
and when it's not, blah blah blah, but it's all
of us. But he's got zero ego. He just wants
to do what's right by these by this organization, by
these players. He's a he's a selfless guy and he

(32:23):
knows he knows you know what he's doing. So we
all got to be better to help him be better
at his job.

Speaker 15 (32:31):
Guys, if you guys all over the defense have talked
about feeling like during the week, practice has been exactly
what they want. Practice have been great if just for
whatever reason, not translating to Sunday injuries aside, how do
you make sense of that?

Speaker 6 (32:43):
What do you feel like?

Speaker 19 (32:43):
Say the first part again.

Speaker 15 (32:44):
Did a lot of guys have talked about practices have
been exactly what they want. Practice have been great, it's
just not translated.

Speaker 19 (32:49):
Yeah, particularly this this last week.

Speaker 18 (32:51):
You know, from a you know, preparation standpoint, I mean,
like one of Zach's greatest qualities is he's not afraid
to tell these guys what they need to hear and
not what they want to hear.

Speaker 19 (33:03):
So he's brutally honest with them.

Speaker 18 (33:04):
And so the standard is a standard, and you know
so from a preparation standpoint, film study note, taking those
kind of things challenged everybody to up that practice. It
has been good. And we had a three or four
minute stretch in that last ballgame where I mean we're
playing solid defense and then we give up, you know,

(33:27):
one play here, another play, then we have a sudden
change and the next thing, you know, a three to
three game becomes a two score, seventeen to three ball game.
But yeah, you don't it's sixty minutes, one play at
a time, all you got don't judge, right, So you
don't know there's five or six plays that are going
to determine the outcome of all these games.

Speaker 19 (33:47):
You don't know when that's gonna happen.

Speaker 18 (33:49):
You know, you practice, you prepare, you study to get
yourself ready for that. So we just have to try
to eliminate, you know, those five or six you know,
excuse me whatever, whatever, you know, when windows come and
and try to play better in those moments.

Speaker 7 (34:05):
I mean, even though he's a first round pick, you
probably didn't imagine he would have this much responsibility, and
with as many injuries he's it's even increased, you know,
sadly selling us. He kind of feels like Malachi's helped
keep you guys.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
From getting you know, beaten deep.

Speaker 7 (34:21):
But then he's also been around some plays, he's missed
the tackle you're in there.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
What do you take? Is the full picture of Malachi?

Speaker 9 (34:28):
So far?

Speaker 18 (34:29):
Six games injuries or season, arrow up exceeded I think
everybody's expectations. He's one of our hardest workers, smartest dudes,
prepares like no other. Again, he's mature beyond his years.
There's a lot on his plate. He's accepted that challenge.
He's never backed down from any challenge. And like anybody

(34:50):
else on this team, anybody else playing back there, those
are hard jobs back there, especially you know outside, and
there's gonna be some tough downs. Great thing about Malachi
is he doesn't make the same mistake twice, it'll get
corrected from last week and the week before. He doesn't
make the same mistake twice, and he's able to move
on past that. He doesn't he doesn't dwell on that.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
I think we're all impressed by the training camp at
Marlin and brokewond Oath had. It seems like they've had
their their ups and downs over this first third of
the season. So what have you seen from them and
kind of what are you expecting to give them that
after they come back with the spy and his help.

Speaker 18 (35:27):
Yeah, I think we've all probably had you know, not
only those two. We've all had our moments, you know,
ups and downs. But those two are great vets or
great warriors. They're great teammates, exceptional football players. Again, they
they're self aware and they hold themselves accountable so they
can see it. They know, you know, what caused this issue,

(35:50):
what causes problem, and then they go to work on
fixing it again. They're in they're in tough spots. These
offenses that you play these days, it's it's no easy
task trying to figure him out and be in the
right spot spot excuse me, down after down. So yeah,
those two are gonna be fine.

Speaker 9 (36:09):
Wigan's travel with DeVante Adams quite a bit on Sunday,
not so much speaking specifically to that, but that responsibility
giving him that What are you seeing from him as
far as year two?

Speaker 18 (36:19):
Now, yeah, I think from a just a gross standpoint
and maturity standpoint, Like he came to us and said, like,
I got seventeen right this week.

Speaker 19 (36:32):
Yeah you want him, yes, sir?

Speaker 18 (36:35):
Yeah, And so Double D and myself and Zach Rested
what we saw was like this unbelievable sense of urgency, focus, detail, films,
like everything.

Speaker 19 (36:49):
You know, because he.

Speaker 18 (36:50):
Wanted that challenge, accepted that challenge, and you know, because
he's a prideful guy, very prideful guy and cares what
he puts on tape, cares about this organization and winning.
So loved what he did. He had some good downs
and he had some not so good downs. That's a
really good wide receiver. He's a first ballot Hall of

(37:11):
Famer in my opinion. But he held his own. He
did a nice job. And so everybody's looking to have
a guy like Nate a true number one corner that
when you face guys like Adams or whoever, we're gonna
face some great ones coming up. That the guy's willing
number one and number two, he's got the capability and

(37:31):
the athleticism and skill set to go do it.

Speaker 19 (37:35):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
That was Raven's defensive assistant and secondary coach Chuck Legano
on Raven's Press Past podcast. Next up is past Rush
coach Chuck Smith.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
All right, it was first.

Speaker 15 (37:56):
I'm looking around your room.

Speaker 7 (37:57):
I mean, are you feeling like you're kind of fresh
prince of bel Air and in.

Speaker 11 (38:02):
The empty room a little bit?

Speaker 20 (38:04):
You know, things, you know when you look at personnel
and things like that, you know, things happen. You know,
guys get hurt, you know, trades happened. You know, it's
just one of those things as a coach. For me
going into my third year, in my third year, it's
just something. It's the first time thing I'm learning and
I'm watching how it all works, and so yeah, it's

(38:24):
just it's definitely different, you know, but it's part of
the game and you have to learn to live with it.

Speaker 15 (38:31):
You know.

Speaker 7 (38:31):
You guys have you know, in your previous two seasons
has been so good at stopping the run, and that's
enabled you to have some of those you know, second, long,
third and long passing downs that it seems like it
made your.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
Pass rush a little more successful.

Speaker 7 (38:46):
Is kind of lagging in that area overall made it
harder to get a pass rush on.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
Well, I think it all's connected.

Speaker 20 (38:54):
You know, when you look at how a defense works,
they work together, and when you look at the run,
you look at the rush. I mean they're they work together.
And I think it's safe to say, yeah, it works
that way. I mean, if you can't stop the run,
you don't get.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
A chance to rush to pass. And we always hear
that cliche, if.

Speaker 20 (39:10):
You don't stop the run, you don't get the privileged
rush of passer. And for the most part, when you
look at the the bigger picture, you know it that's
kind of shown up. But uh, you know, but it's
been the past has also affected the run too, So
it all works together, man, you know what I'm saying.
So we don't get the quarterback, guess what, we're gonna
get a lot of run cause they gonna be running
the clock out. So you know, but that's kind of

(39:30):
the works story.

Speaker 12 (39:34):
You know, he's showing us some flashes, But what's kind
of the key for him a young guys being consisted
down the stretch and making a big impact.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
The second half.

Speaker 20 (39:41):
I think the thing about Mike Green one thing when
you look at Mike first thing, I'm proud of Mike.
Mike's not like the normal rookie of a lot of
the guys who came out in these first couple around.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Mike's playing. Mike's a starter.

Speaker 20 (39:53):
Mike's playing big boy ball, you know, he's playing first
and ten. He's playing against you know teams obviously, the
five teams we've played that have that are I guess
playoff teams.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
Mike is. So he's transitioned.

Speaker 20 (40:05):
So Michael played first two downs, then he's in on
third down, and so on the run.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
I think Mike has really answered the bell.

Speaker 20 (40:11):
And a lot of people talked about Mike's inability, you know,
to stop the run. Mike Green is a raven Mike
Green is you look at some of the film from
this past weekend, Mike Green is putting hands on guys,
you know, and it's a fight and he's learning. And
when it comes to the rush, when you look at
the big picture, man, it takes time a lot of times,
you know what I mean, It's just like we talked
about the things that have been our challenge. Mike's a

(40:32):
part of that as far as from the standpoint it
affects everyone. But I think Mike Green is gonna continue
to work hard. He gets after it, he takes coaching,
and I think his time will come, you know, and
the other guys will too. Will can continue to keep working.
He's working on his different techniques and understanding protections, all
the things that goes into being a good rusher as
well as a complete player. And right now, Mike, you know,

(40:54):
right now is doing really well on the run, and
he's continued to work hard and develop as a pass rusher.
Knows his days come, his sacks will come, and at
the end of the year, you know, we'll be happy.

Speaker 10 (41:03):
Who back in training.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
Camp, you had all the nice things to say about
Tavus Robinson, and guess what have you seen from him
up until this points?

Speaker 20 (41:10):
Think, I mean t robb was playing as good as
anyone really in the league.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
You know, he's a hammer against a run.

Speaker 20 (41:16):
He was rushing the passer, you know, you know had
I think two sacks, but he had an opportunity for
a plethora of moral sacks. You know, as well as
the other guys you know, have had opportunities and whether
it's the balls out or you know what I'm saying,
or we lost contained or the pass rush wasn't balanced.
You know, t Rob is a part at where he
could have a lot more. But Tavious is a just

(41:38):
a great guy. He's tough. He is still a centerpiece
for us when he gets back, and he will be
for a long time.

Speaker 6 (41:46):
Some of the personnel losses.

Speaker 9 (41:47):
John talked about it yesterday, the need to manufacture pressure
when fans hear that, w what does that look like
when that's working?

Speaker 6 (41:54):
And when when you're.

Speaker 3 (41:55):
Able to do that?

Speaker 20 (41:56):
Yeah, and that's one of the things that we have
to do, and then putting the guys in the right
place as we manufacture, you know, the pressure and with
the pass rush, and really you're just trying to be
creative with the pieces that you do have and what
you have. You know, you can't look at what you
used to have because we are living in the now
and so Coach Harbors one hundred percent correct. You know,
we have to manufacture. We have to do what's in

(42:17):
the best interest of the defense. You know, we can't
sit back and say, oh, we're gonna the four man rush.

Speaker 3 (42:21):
We can't.

Speaker 20 (42:22):
You know, nobody's crying for us. You know, nobody's gonna
sit back and say, oh the ravens now.

Speaker 3 (42:26):
We got to figure it out.

Speaker 20 (42:27):
And part of that is coach orr and and all
of us as a staff putting the players first and
understanding this gives us the best chance to have success.
And you know, and that's where we look to do
what we look to.

Speaker 2 (42:38):
Do along those lines, I think some fans get get
frustrated that, you know, with the number of pass rush
games and sims and three christ you guys have on
these third long situations, maybe guys aren't getting the reps
to just go ahead, beat a guy one on one.
You know, you get better by doing reps. Is there
any merit to that thing? Just give these guys more

(43:00):
freedom to actually win without the help of you know,
the scheme essentially the scheme.

Speaker 20 (43:06):
Well, a lot of those same fans were probably saying
that after Buffalo when we went and the quarterback made
big plays on us. Because of that mindset. In this league,
there are a lot of quarterbacks that run. We have
to be smart and also do us in the best
interests of not only the pass rushers, but they also
the defense, you know, and everybody would like to just
go freestyle and understand that, but you know, right now

(43:29):
we have to do us again. What's in the best
interests of the team when we have to do whatever
we have to do with the games and different things
like that. So though I love the fans passionate, I'm
glad they're watching, and.

Speaker 3 (43:39):
You know, I hope they keep watching as we continue
to get better.

Speaker 9 (43:42):
Giving the numbers at edge right now, give it a
job I was playing a lot more these last.

Speaker 7 (43:46):
Couple of weeks.

Speaker 9 (43:46):
What are you seeing from him or what would you
like to see moving forward?

Speaker 20 (43:50):
Well, I like to see Jabo just keep competing, just
keep working hard, just keep getting after it, and you know,
when this opportunity comes to get in there, you know,
make it happen. And Job's been playing, you know, doing
well on the run, getting after you know, striking blocks,
doing a good job.

Speaker 3 (44:03):
And you know, the entire group, not just.

Speaker 20 (44:05):
Jobbo, not just Mike, not just whether it's kV or
whoever's up there. We want everybody to continue to work
hard and get better.

Speaker 3 (44:12):
And I think job is a part of you know. Okay,
thank you, Thanks guys.

Speaker 1 (44:23):
You're listening to Raven's Press Past podcast. That was past
Rush coach Chuck Smith last but definitely not least today
you'll hear from offensive line coach George Warhaw.

Speaker 11 (44:38):
Are we doing today, fellas and ladies. I'm good. What
do we got, coach?

Speaker 3 (44:43):
A short yardage?

Speaker 6 (44:45):
You know, John talked about it yesterday. It's got a
problem DRAP this season when it was a strike with
guys is last season especially wan to go. Whatever you
kind of seen in some of those reps period.

Speaker 21 (44:59):
I think it's gamed game. Most of it is m
technique errors with us when it pertains to my guys.
Last week, I thought when we ran the sneaks down there,
I thought they did a good better job getting over
the top. Okay, I thought the guys did a pretty
good job of moving them underneath, but they got over
the top and got out. Got to Mark. I thought

(45:19):
that was the challenge with that. Outside of that, it's
just really us doing what we doing and doing it
better than we've been doing it.

Speaker 6 (45:30):
What do you see a lot of that? Andrew rgis
getting the very lady. You know, they tend to get
a lot of criticism directly that they had many things
for long from the families. What do they need to
do to to kind of?

Speaker 21 (45:47):
I think I think those guys every week get better
every week. I thought, uh, they both really last week
had pretty solid games. I would say, jeez, maybe the
Houston game wasn't one of their best games, but other
than that, I really don't have a lot of negative

(46:09):
to say about those two guys. I mean, every week,
if you watch him play, they get better, right, And
there's been some challenging fronts we've had to deal with.
I think Houston is really good. I think Cleveland's really
good overall, and those were our average games as a unit.

Speaker 11 (46:26):
Dealing with those two fronts good.

Speaker 3 (46:30):
Henri kill and.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
Scott's filling the training camp for what I guess because
the all retard.

Speaker 3 (46:34):
This, what are you've seen yet? It him?

Speaker 2 (46:36):
And how far along do you feel like the kids?

Speaker 11 (46:40):
That's I love him Ory now.

Speaker 21 (46:42):
I mean the kid has been in the meeting since
training camp, takes a peccable notes, It's one hundred engaged.
I can ask him questions about what we're doing, even
though he hasn't been doing it. He just started two
weeks ago, right, but he can answer those questions he's
been out there.

Speaker 11 (47:00):
He's done a nice job.

Speaker 21 (47:02):
But that's hard, right, It's hard for a rookie to
miss all the training camp the beginning of the season,
to come in in season and truly get grounded in
what we're doing. Even though you love everything about his upside,
his toughness, how he's going about it in practice, that's
a hard deal, all right, So we'll see how it progresses.

Speaker 11 (47:21):
But what he's doing right now is really impressive.

Speaker 9 (47:24):
So you guys were able to use the ball pretty
well on the ground, I guess why were you guys
finding success in how can you take that game maybe
build when he.

Speaker 6 (47:33):
Came back from the buy.

Speaker 11 (47:36):
I think.

Speaker 21 (47:39):
It depends on how we approach a game, right from
an offensive perspective, I think if we choose to run
the ball, I think we have.

Speaker 11 (47:47):
The capabilities of running the ball.

Speaker 21 (47:51):
So really it's how we decide we want to approach
a game. I think of our six games, three or
four of them we've run it really well, and two
of them we were just kind of averaging running them.
And I think the two games were kind of averaging
running them. Was probably more of a pass thought process
going into the game. From a game plan standpoint. So
in terms of running the football, we can run football.

(48:13):
We have great backs, our guys do a good job
coming off the ball. We're physical. We try to finish.
That's kind of our deal.

Speaker 6 (48:21):
So rich with every of the finis as a guard throughout.
What does he so, what does he try to do well?

Speaker 21 (48:30):
That translated again, that's hard, Right, He's been out there
six practices today was number seven, So for me to
tell you what he does well, that's difficult. What I
can tell you is the dude goes right, he goes hard.
You know, this was his first day he could really
do pass pro right, so he did some nice stuff
in pass pro.

Speaker 11 (48:49):
So it's hard for me to.

Speaker 21 (48:50):
Project what he does well when he's been on a
limited basis to this point.

Speaker 9 (48:54):
Right, short, we know Ronnie Stanley's history with his ankle
going back five years ago and all he's been through.
How challenging have the last few weeks agand with him
being in and out of practice, in and out of these.

Speaker 6 (49:04):
Games, and you know, obviously beyond the importance of what
he means.

Speaker 11 (49:08):
But what have you seen from Notebot.

Speaker 6 (49:09):
Filling him as well?

Speaker 3 (49:10):
Well?

Speaker 11 (49:11):
We miss Ronnie. Ronnie is.

Speaker 21 (49:15):
High end left tackle in the NFL, right, So I
don't care who replaces him. They're not going to replace them.
So that being said, I thought Joe went out there
and battled. I'm sure he would like to take some
of his snaps back, but I think he went out
in battle, did a solid job for us.

Speaker 11 (49:31):
But we do miss Ronnie all right. Carson come along too,
and oh, I think he's on he's on the come.
I think he's on the verge of challenging to be active.
Every week. He gets better. He's still got some stuff
to work through.

Speaker 21 (49:48):
But all the young guys we have, and I think
we've got five young guys between the practice squad guys
and Carson and him, all those guys are really pushing
and getting better. It's kind of fun to watch him
at practice. They give our defense all they want every day.

Speaker 8 (50:04):
So we saw We obviously got to see where Cordy
Gollork to camp or Howard got himself in the roster.

Speaker 11 (50:10):
We don't get see him now, but has.

Speaker 6 (50:11):
Her mun continued his momentum moved away he's practice.

Speaker 11 (50:14):
Oh yeah, I love Cory all right.

Speaker 21 (50:17):
It was interesting Like when I got here last year,
I'm like, who's sixty seven. I mean, new's that guy, right,
and then he really got himself in shape I shouldn't
say in shape, but prepared to play in the offseason.

Speaker 11 (50:30):
Told him you needed prepare to play center.

Speaker 21 (50:32):
He did that, came and competed at center, and really
from the beginning of camp until we got out of camp,
he was the number two center. I mean, it wasn't
close when you started watching it. So he's continued that
he does a great job in practice. And I'll just
tell you one thing about Corey. Corey's an unbelievable kid.

Speaker 11 (50:49):
In the meeting room.

Speaker 21 (50:50):
I mean outstanding when young guys come in, or new
guys come in, or if he's dealing with the guys
that are really young, he pours into them all the time.
I mean that's a quality that I can't even tell
you how much I appreciate. Right to have guys in
the room, Guys that he's competing with that eventually will
be competing with. He's helping them grow. So he is

(51:11):
an unbelievable human being on top of being a really
good player and has a bright future.

Speaker 11 (51:17):
So all right, thank you, George, sure of properties.

Speaker 1 (51:25):
