Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome into the Ravens Press Pass Podcast. It's Friday, September nineteenth,
and the Ravens just got off the field from practice.
We had a chance to hear from several coaches today.
First up, Offensive coordinator Todd Monkin.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
You're going against like going back to last game against
the Browns and when their defense finality your coaches playstopping
your money. How much does that change with older kind
of what you're going at gaming?
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Well, I mean they're really good, and we next year
at a high level, didn't coach well enough, didn't play
well enough.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
The tape tells the story. You know, when they're going
to make plays on their own, we just can't add
to it. We got to play better. We certainly can
run the ball better than that, and we have run
the ball better than that against them, and we've played
better than that, so we're certainly capable of better.
Speaker 5 (00:54):
Walker with two touchdowns, his connection with Lamar, how have
you seen him grow from your one.
Speaker 6 (00:59):
Year or two?
Speaker 3 (01:00):
We get to see his confidence grow. I really think
that's the biggest thing. You know, last year when he
first got her, he was hurt, had a soft tissue injury,
so didn't get to go through a lot of camp
this year the same way. You know, he wasn't hurt,
but we've got some other guys get a lot of reps.
I just think his confidence seems to be growing ours
in him, so you know, with that comes more opportunity,
(01:22):
and so we'll just continue to see how it plays out.
But it also means that we can't play him as often, right, yeah,
because then it will target him and then the streak
will be over. So we only can play him a
certain amount of plays a game. Make sure the streak
stays intact. Right, Let's keep the real important stat here alive.
Speaker 7 (01:45):
I know it's only two games, but why do you
think you guys are seeing as much man Tupers as
you are And how do you think your.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Responded to it? Well?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
I think some of it's who we are with Lamar
and our style of play. I think some of it is,
you know, playing the Browns wasn't really on a character
for them. They really want to match you, they want
to challenge you, they want to give you nothing. So
you know, at the end of the day, I can't
speak for the other coordinators. I can only speak for
(02:14):
you know, we execute and how we coach.
Speaker 8 (02:22):
That was it. There was a lot of talks about
Rabel Rogers, Tom Rudger.
Speaker 9 (02:26):
Of the French Thomas about.
Speaker 10 (02:28):
Pre snap stuff he thought, or the cause of the running.
Speaker 8 (02:31):
Games some of the running game issues.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Can you explain that a little bit?
Speaker 5 (02:34):
I mean I can't. I don't. I haven't heard that.
Speaker 10 (02:37):
He was talking about pre snap adjustments and what was
going on pre snap.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Oh, I mean is that possible? Of course that is,
But that wasn't everything. I mean, let's not just paint
it all on that. I mean, we got to coach
better and we got to play better. There was there
was enough to go around with all of us. No
one was exempt from that. Coaching staff, players, we're all
in it together. I mean, when we play well, it
was us, and we don't play as well, it's also us.
And we got to look at, you know, how much
(03:05):
we have in how much time do we have to
get it done during the week, the looks that we're
going to get to make sure that our talent shines
on Sunday or Monday.
Speaker 11 (03:14):
Do you feel like you have to coach around some
of those protection wows how you.
Speaker 8 (03:19):
Just play call? Really?
Speaker 3 (03:21):
I didn't feel it. I didn't feel like that. I
mean some of that is part of playing against a
really good front. I mean you're gonna have some issues. Uh,
some guys are gonna get beat against good players, just
like when they play us in Man. At times they
are gonna get beat by Zay Flowers. That's just the
way it is. You have really good players, they have
really good players. You do everything you can or try
to to help yourself in protection with slides and chips
(03:43):
and those kind of things, and then eventually at times
they are gonna get the best of you, and you're
gonna get the best of them.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
You can say, Flowers like, it's just kind of an
energy they will love of the game.
Speaker 8 (03:54):
Just always having fun.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
The count you think the teams, it's the rest of
the offense.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Well, you could definitely feel his energy. Can you can
feel it on the field, you can feel it in
the locker room, you can feel it around the building.
But ultimately on the field, that's about his playmaking. I mean,
let's be real about it. I mean at that point,
everybody's got to bring their own juice. I mean that's
what we do on game day. You're a pro. Everybody's
ready to go on game day. So on game day
it's his playmaking ability, made the most of his limited
(04:23):
opportunities to to this point, do you foresee kind of
thing the case of how you.
Speaker 12 (04:28):
Guys use some so may not get a whole lot
of action, but when he is a ball is usually
something big.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
I'm excited for him and for us. You know, you
can still see his ability to track the ball, making
tested catches. That's obvious what he's done his whole career,
and we're just going to continue to get him up
the speed with every day. I think his packages are
going to continue to grow as we keep going and
moving forward, and we have to have that be the
case because he's a tremendous football player and the more
(04:57):
we can get him on the field, the better we're
going to be moving forward.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
Isaiah back at practice this week, and what element does.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
He bring to the huddles, Well, it's great seeing him back,
smile on his face. He loves playing football. He's a
he's a weapon for us, so we're excited to get
him back out there.
Speaker 11 (05:15):
How much is that change your impact things? I'm sure
it does a little bit, but put in one way,
is it kind of impact things for you what's plenty
is back.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
He's just such a versatile player.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
There's a number of things you can do with him
in line and flexed out.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
So those are the things that you know.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
When you have versatile players that allow you to do
a number of things, playing a lot of modes with them,
then it's it's certainly an advantage for us. So we're excited,
like I said, to get him back on the practice
field and get him back out there.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Next up, defensive coordinator, Zach Orr, what's going on?
Speaker 9 (05:54):
You want to go the lines and points? Last week
we kind of jumped out of.
Speaker 8 (05:59):
You and one.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
It's just a team that's that's connected.
Speaker 11 (06:02):
Man.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
It's offense. Obviously, they've had their core for a while,
starts with Jared Goff, Saint Brown, uh and in the
two running backs and in the offensive line. So it's
a real good unit. You can tell that they're well coached,
they know what they're doing, and that they're talented. They
got they got stars at every level from the from
the front the backfield, receiver in the quarterback position. So
(06:22):
it's definitely gonna be a challenge, man, Zach.
Speaker 9 (06:26):
Does it help you guys that not only do you
have Marlin in the slide if.
Speaker 8 (06:30):
You need them. But Kyle Hamilton can play there. I
play there a lot of Georgia.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Is there a usefulness of having a lot of different
body types, a lot of different guys you can throw
at a guy like coming round?
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Yeah, I definitely think so, man, because he's a he's
a he's a heck of a player.
Speaker 8 (06:42):
Man.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
I think he's underrated. Uh, He's definitely one of the
top players and receivers in the league. And I feel
like it doesn't get talked about a lot. But it's
a versatile offense, not just with him. So we're blessed
to have versatile defenders. But it's gonna be pushed to
the test, and our guys understand that. We understand that
we have to become ready to play with our best
football to play well.
Speaker 12 (07:02):
Zach.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
There's a lot of talk throughout August that Nate Wiggins
could be fired for a real breakout year.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
Obviously had the interception, But how have you seen that
manifest two weeks?
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Just what have you liked what you see?
Speaker 8 (07:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (07:12):
I think he responded back week one. I think he'll
be the first to tell you that he didn't play
the way that he really wanted to play. He worked
at it hard and practice, got it corrected, and he
had a great game on on Sunday. I mean he
was locked in on his technique. His coverage, the interception
was was great to see, but all the other all
the other plays that too. Of course throughout the game
(07:34):
he was he was great as well. So that's that's
the expectation we have for him because because of the
player that that he's that he is, the player that
he's shown. Now he's got to be consistent and stack
another one Monday night.
Speaker 8 (07:46):
Gets the ball.
Speaker 9 (07:47):
I mean, it's it's going back pretty quickly. You've seen
a few of those type of players here in Baltimore.
Is that just something that you really can't really teach
on me, you know, because you don't really get that
many importunities. I'm guess you're not practicing that to me yet.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
No.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
I mean, first, you can't teach for two speed. His
speed is legit. His speed is legit now now even
though he tired out, he'll tell you that. But now,
I think that's something that you're you're blessed to have
the run ability. Once you get the ball in your hands,
what you do with it I think nowadays, just this
this generation, these guys have played all over the field
since they were kids, man, So we got a lot
(08:21):
of guys who can once they get the ball in hand,
they know what to do with it. I mean even
look at Rokwan, he was he picked it up and
was moving as well. So yeah, that's that's definitely blessed
because when we get the ball and hands, we tell
our guys we want to score, we want to go
put up points. From a defensive standpoint.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
Exactly what it's going to be as loud as it
will be on Monday night. As a defense, is there
a lot of nonverbal communication that has to take place
between players.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yeah, you definitely. I mean from a defense teand point,
we love the crowd noise. We want the crowd to
be loud. We know they're gonna be loud and rocky
on Monday night.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Man.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
It's it's it's a great atmosphere, best in the National
Football League. So we love that, embrace that. But from
a defensive standpoint, our communication go up to a whold
new level because you're not gonna be able to hear
each other talk, so you do have to be locked
in on the game plan, anticipate motions and shifts and
any checks we have what we're going to and then
you have to sign and co sign with one another.
So we embrace it.
Speaker 6 (09:13):
Man.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
We know it's gonna be tough for the oposing offense
coming in Monday night for them to communicate, and we
know we have to communicate as well. And coach does
a great job. Like you guys, hear the music blasting, blaring,
crowd noise blaring throughout practice, so we get great work
at it every single day.
Speaker 8 (09:30):
You could probably.
Speaker 9 (09:30):
Say every week. That's important from pressure to quarterback.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
But you look at golf and what the Packers.
Speaker 10 (09:36):
Did be going compared to what the Bears in.
Speaker 8 (09:39):
The week two where they didn't zack them and fairly
hit thems. How big is that?
Speaker 5 (09:44):
This?
Speaker 13 (09:44):
Don't can know if you're probably gonna be depending on
a lot of young guys to do it.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
Yeah, it's big, It's real big. I mean, you talk
about any quarterback, if you let them sit back there
and set their feeding comfortable, they'll make you pay. And
Jared Goff is one of the best that day. He's
one of the most accurate quarterbacks. When he has a
clear picture, he can set his feet and throw the football.
So we definitely have to generate pressure on him, whether
that's with four man rush or whether that's sending extra
guys at him. Uh, we definitely cannot let him get
(10:09):
comfortable and sit back there and pick us apart. Appreciate,
thank you.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Next up, Special teams coordinator Chris Horton.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
When Ja Cobbo came, what were your thoughts?
Speaker 14 (10:32):
I don't know if I really had thoughts and emotions. Right,
it's uh, it's free it's free agency.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Uh. When those guys came to me.
Speaker 14 (10:38):
And said, hey, let's let's watch all these lists of
linebackers and things like that, he was at the He
was at the top. I think the thing when you
watch when you watch free agent special teams players as
a as a special teams coach, you kind of know
who the guys are throughout the league because those guys
are those guys are studs.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
On their on their other teams.
Speaker 14 (10:55):
So when you're watching the tape and he became available,
you know, I just I went in there, I watched
the tape.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
I said this is the guy.
Speaker 14 (11:02):
You know, we had just lost some guys and I said,
this is this is a guy that can help us
and uh and really help our help our young guys.
He understands plays the game the right way. I went
to Harps, talked to Harves about it, had him watch
him and you know, and we kind of came to agreement, Hey,
this if he's available and he wants to be here,
and he wanted to be here, you know, obviously his
his best friends Charlie Kolar, right, so they played together
(11:24):
and so that was a good that was a good
selling point. And I'll tell you this man, it's really
excited to have him on the team because he does
bring leadership and he knows how to play the game.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
And the tape speaks for herself.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
Christmas seeing Tyler Luke get off to the right start
from a PLACEKIU standpoint. But I guess it's entertains to
the the Miskickoffs.
Speaker 8 (11:43):
What is it?
Speaker 5 (11:44):
What are those conversations like, is he tries to write
those stores?
Speaker 14 (11:48):
Those are those are like, I think things a little
little detailed things. The kicks that fall short of the
landing zone. You know, obviously those are like experiment kicks, right,
things that we're trying. We're trying to do a different
lot of different things. We want to get the ball
on the ground. But then there's the kicks that are
that are going out of bounce. I think ultimately those
are the ones we have to get out of our system.
Speaker 8 (12:07):
Right.
Speaker 14 (12:07):
We just want to put a ball down there, and
he's got to be able to just kick that ball
down there. But ultimately it comes back to us just
making sure that we keep it simple for him. That way,
he's not thinking out there, well, what type of kick
is this going to be? So when he leaves the sideline,
it's already made up where we want the ball and
those things shouldn't happen, and I think we'll be able
to get those out of our system pretty quickly.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
But other than that, the kid's done a heck of
a job.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
We also heard from a few players first up tight
end Isaiah likely.
Speaker 9 (12:38):
Practice under the belt.
Speaker 8 (12:39):
How are you feeling, man? Refreshed?
Speaker 7 (12:42):
Man, I mean just being out for a little while,
you know, just away from the guys on the field, buying,
get out there, get gonna run around, just get that
little kids failing again.
Speaker 8 (12:51):
I'm difficult.
Speaker 11 (12:51):
It depends that kind of bind your time and great
and all out.
Speaker 7 (12:56):
Yeah, I mean, I guess you fall in love with
lifting a little more obviously. I mean it's just really
just a longer off season as to what you know,
I just try to tell myself in my mind, but
really just you know, being able to put my feet
back in some fleats, run around, yeah, they catching the balls.
Speaker 8 (13:11):
Just something you know, you fall in love with a game.
Speaker 7 (13:12):
Oh you feel good?
Speaker 2 (13:13):
Far?
Speaker 8 (13:13):
Now feel good?
Speaker 7 (13:15):
I mean, like I said, like going from running around
full speed to having to get surgery to now being
able to get back in the cleat, run around again,
be with the guys, be with L D. N. Mark,
everybody's run around, being a teammate again. I mean, there's
always something you want to be.
Speaker 15 (13:29):
Is anomber guys, just talking about your positive energy even
in the midst of that, how quickly did you kind
of turn the page the disappointment of it happening to
getting back on the field and then positive outlook.
Speaker 7 (13:41):
I mean at the end of the day, like what
happens happens, So like this's something you know, I was
tired of the young age. I mean, just don't dwell
on it. I mean, obviously understand what you got into,
understand the road ahead, and try I always look at
the positive in the midst of everything, and I feel
like that's what I did. I mean, obviously if I
couldn't be there, you know, physically, I always wanted to
be there, you know, whether it was on the sideline
helping on, whether it was in the meeting room or
(14:02):
something in between. And now is just being out there,
you know, helping out again like that, What do.
Speaker 8 (14:06):
You think you've chances of playing Monday night?
Speaker 7 (14:09):
Taking it day by day right now? I mean just
you know, finally getting my feedback under me. So really,
just you know, being out there. I feel like me
just being a presence out there is good for me
right now.
Speaker 8 (14:19):
But I'll just taking a day by day. I mean,
y'all know, I want to be out there.
Speaker 11 (14:22):
When did you start it feel like to turn the
corner or however you want to put.
Speaker 7 (14:25):
It in terms of that stuff like running, I mean
being back from the field quick, I felt like I
never lost the sense of being back on the field.
But I mean, uh, really, just you know, the quicker
I felt comfortable being myself in cleats is when I
felt comfortable enough to go out there with the team.
Speaker 8 (14:43):
And I feel like right now is just exact where I'm.
Speaker 12 (14:45):
Supposed to be if you did get back out there,
did you feel like it was you were able to
kind of just pit right back in to pick up
right where you left off in terms of the connection
with Lamar and the rest.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Of the offense.
Speaker 7 (14:55):
Yeah, I mean, and that's why I try to tell
everybody the connection on the field with Lamar starts off
the field. I mean, Lamar got to trust you there
to day before he trusts you on the field to
make a play. And I feel like, you know, from
when I was a rookie, you know, coming to Noiles,
like just the connection I built with Lamarrow off the
field just you know, helped me.
Speaker 8 (15:13):
On the field.
Speaker 7 (15:14):
So like I feel like me not being there was
still me being there, just being able to talk to
him every.
Speaker 9 (15:18):
Day to the great trust.
Speaker 16 (15:21):
What's been like for you to watch Lamar.
Speaker 8 (15:22):
And d Hop few weeks, Yeah, I mean, dang.
Speaker 7 (15:28):
I mean usually at practice I'll be trying to have
the most spectacular cats, but seeing the Hop out there,
I mean one hand and everything, I mean, it's just
you know, it'.
Speaker 8 (15:37):
Sec to see. I mean, he's a vet to that.
Speaker 7 (15:39):
I could say that and like, like I tell you
all the time, I didn't know d Hop played as
much as he does, so like just seeing him after
he does it, he'll always give me a wink or
he'll look at me and smile, and I like, all right,
I gotta go ahead show him up.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
Kind of curious because you're the first guy to go
through like an extended rehab in the new rehab kind
of area facility.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Like how nice was that?
Speaker 8 (15:59):
Did it?
Speaker 5 (16:00):
Did it help you, like feeling more connective to the.
Speaker 8 (16:02):
Field, for sure?
Speaker 7 (16:03):
I mean, especially like when it first happened. I mean,
usually when you know you're in the treatment room, you're
just treatment rehab and then go in the lyft and
going to do whatever you have left. But like when
having the open glass windows, I was definitely, you know,
excited to see during uh, I want to say, the
coach joint practice, Like I got to sit out there
and watch it a little bit, especially when I was
supposed to be on my feet, just being able to
(16:24):
be in the cut watching from the glass, then be
able to talk. Hopefully they heard me out there talking
a little smacks coming out the field that.
Speaker 8 (16:31):
Day, I tried to nate a little bit.
Speaker 7 (16:33):
And then I mean George was kind enough to put
the tight end one on ones right, in front of
me at the glass.
Speaker 8 (16:39):
So it was definitely fun.
Speaker 9 (16:41):
It is important that you kind of still look at
the long game, you know, and want to make sure
you're healthy later on the season and be patient.
Speaker 8 (16:49):
Up little thing not super cool things to react to ring.
Speaker 7 (16:52):
Somewhere for sure, and I mean I feel like that's
everything to go injured. I mean, you always want to
always look at the long game because at the end
of the day, I mean it, in this league it's
a turtles race. I mean, you don't want to get
in September and eighty percent and then really understand that,
you know, January so far away, so I want to obviously,
I mean, we just put up forty plus back to back,
(17:13):
So knowing that the offense is well capable to be
able to be themselves whether I'm on and off the field,
knowing that you know I'm in no rush and they're
not rushing me to get back because I mean, me
limited isn't helping anybody.
Speaker 8 (17:26):
I mean, you guys want to see me be me.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Next up, running back Derrick Henry.
Speaker 12 (17:34):
Derek, what are you hoping to see differently out of
the run game this week after last week?
Speaker 8 (17:39):
Be better?
Speaker 6 (17:39):
And that never happened again. Continue to get better me
myself first, be better with the football and more efficient,
be more explosive to.
Speaker 5 (17:53):
Us.
Speaker 6 (17:53):
It's getting better each and every day and looking to
translate each and every week.
Speaker 8 (17:57):
Do you feel do you.
Speaker 9 (17:58):
Feel when watching it it was because it looked like
they were the Crowns Their focus was, hey, we're gonna
stop the run.
Speaker 8 (18:04):
But from your.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Fans point, do you feel it was.
Speaker 9 (18:06):
More your guys and then what they did or was
it or what they did that provided the fine results?
Speaker 8 (18:13):
Somehow I look at it.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
I always look at myself first.
Speaker 6 (18:15):
I end up looking at another man and saying what
they did wrong, always putting a finger at me, saying
I need to be better. You know, if it's they're
stopping to run, there's no there's no where to go
to make make one. And I feel like I didn't
do that well and I need to do better at that.
But as a whole, you know, we just want to
focus on keep getting better and I need to be better.
Speaker 8 (18:34):
And that's my focus.
Speaker 12 (18:38):
You're obviously a really good running back matchup with you
going on Monday night Jimier Gibbs in.
Speaker 9 (18:42):
That game as well.
Speaker 12 (18:43):
Just how hard are you were just the running back
position these days, where it feels like a new really
good back pops.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
Up every year.
Speaker 8 (18:50):
Yeah, I think is it's great.
Speaker 6 (18:53):
It's something that we wanted two years ago when we
all were trying to figure out what to do.
Speaker 11 (18:58):
And I think the big.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Answer is just play better.
Speaker 6 (19:00):
And I feel like guys are doing that, and I
know and I know guys will continue to do that.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
But it's a good time for the running backs right now.
Speaker 6 (19:06):
Do you know if you gotta keep it going?
Speaker 4 (19:08):
Is there really the season?
Speaker 1 (19:09):
How much of it is just kind of figuring it
for your offense, like not many preseason snaps.
Speaker 15 (19:14):
But kind of figure out who the direction that you
want to take and argue it's gonna be braw.
Speaker 6 (19:19):
No, I don't think it's figure it out. I think
it's just doing your job and doing your job at
at a high level.
Speaker 8 (19:24):
We know what's required.
Speaker 6 (19:25):
If you don't play in the preseason, then it's time
to go during the season. So it's just about about
playing better and improving and focusing doing the little things
right and and doing the best you can to put
the team in position to win each and every game.
Speaker 12 (19:39):
Who challenges do you see this Lion's defense present until
you specifically in the run game.
Speaker 6 (19:45):
Oh yeah, they you know they be able to stop
the run of D line of run stoppers, uh linebackers,
they fly to the ball, always around the ball, and
then that secondary or uh a will and tackler. So
you know that's a it's a tough defense. I play
with a lot of energy. They feed off one another,
so it's gonna it's gonna be a good matchup on Monday.
Speaker 7 (20:03):
Do you feel like.
Speaker 13 (20:03):
As teams like obviously can they play you early in
the season that you know that they're coming to stop you,
but with the way that the wide out room played
that eventually something's kind to give and they're not can
be able to cover up with that.
Speaker 8 (20:12):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (20:13):
I don't really try to focus on what they're trying
to do. I just focus on me doing the best
I can and being effective. But you know, we got
play makers at the obbos position that you know can
take the top off and Baking is supposed to have
any play we saw with d howp you know zay
Bay even though tight end. So but I just try
to focus on me being the best player I could
be for this team and being efficient and playing better
(20:34):
and can't wait some.
Speaker 8 (20:35):
Monday, Dereic.
Speaker 12 (20:36):
Obviously you played with d Hop back in Tennessee, and
he's made it no to let people know. I don't
know who's calling to watch, but apparently somebody is, and
he's making it known that he's not. I mean, are
you are you surprised at all that he's still making
these same type of plays at this stage.
Speaker 11 (20:51):
Of his career.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
No, I think he's done his whole career.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
Everybody knows that's sticking where you get up in age
all of a sudden you know something's changed. But hopefully
I keep calling them the watch because it's been working,
so we need it.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
On that note, we also heard from linebacker Rokwon Smith.
Speaker 7 (21:15):
We're gonna take it on Jered Gong obviously basing before
as well, but it's kind of a gunslayer.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
What's the idea of doing them?
Speaker 16 (21:22):
Yeah, I think it's obviously a lot easier sett than done,
But I think it starts with stopping and run, making
them one dimensional and forcing into a drop back pass game,
and things are a lot different that way. But obviously
if they're able to run the ball and establish the run,
then that allows for them with their play action shots
and things like that. So that's what it's gonna be about.
It's a very simple plan, but obviously it's easier set
(21:44):
than done.
Speaker 8 (21:45):
So got a lot of respect for those guys.
Speaker 9 (21:46):
What do you like about playing Monday night football?
Speaker 8 (21:49):
It's awesome.
Speaker 16 (21:50):
You play in front of the world, so you show
exactly who you are on Monday night football. So excited
about the opportunity. Excited as a defense to show the
world exactly who we are for another week and just
uh gonna build off that.
Speaker 11 (22:01):
Bro which word the challenge?
Speaker 7 (22:02):
Did?
Speaker 8 (22:02):
Hes had some good over fields.
Speaker 11 (22:04):
He's a big you know, they do a lot of
games typically.
Speaker 16 (22:06):
Plung Yeah, absolutely, Yeah, a lot of play action shots
and a lot of uh in breakers, so a lot
of in breakers. Uh wanna definitely hit to get the
ball in the paint. Uh you see, definitely a lot
of that. So it's about you know, taking care of that, uh,
stopping that, stopping the run and then on the playoffs
and shots, getting back, getting windows, closing windows or man's
guarding your man, whatever the case may be, and just
(22:27):
taking the things away from him that uh they want.
Speaker 14 (22:29):
To do and or impressed you.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
In the way he stepped in LEAs.
Speaker 16 (22:35):
Yeah, I got a lot of respect for Teddy Man
the guy. He played five years in college. Uh, so
he's a he's a he's been around ball for a while,
been playing linebacker, uh his entire life.
Speaker 8 (22:44):
So like he got a lot of his spirits.
Speaker 16 (22:46):
H very smart player man. Uh, don't make a lot
of the same mistakes in very advanced for rookies. So uh,
edc of them got themselves are still with him in
the fourth with fourth I think, yeah, bro qu.
Speaker 8 (22:56):
On at different points of they game. So I think
you would ford.
Speaker 10 (22:58):
Rookies on the field, Yes, Mike Green obviously and U
you know that how important have they been to kind
of what you were trying to covessiate your house?
Speaker 8 (23:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (23:09):
Absolutely.
Speaker 16 (23:10):
I think all of those gu well, all of those
guys are obviously rookies, but at the end of the day,
all of those guys are well oiled. Those guys know
what they're doing. They played a lot of ball throughout
their career, uh in college, and it's just the league.
So it's the National Football League, but it's still football
at the end of the DA did they And I've
seen those guys perform all throughout camp versus Uh, A
great offense and going up against Lamar and all offense.
(23:30):
So I know those guys are ready for the challenge,
whatever the challenge may be. And whenever they're opportunity and
number is called, sure there'll be that answer.
Speaker 9 (23:37):
Okay, what are your.
Speaker 8 (23:42):
Uh that's last week.
Speaker 16 (23:43):
I'm more unmoved on right now, focused on uh stopping
the run versus Detroit and stopping these guys and knowing
that it's gonna be an explosive offense and uh get
it again this week maybe you know, so that that's
more to focus and getting a dub most and foremost.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
Uh how much do you and Teddy kind of spend
time together and way from the field, you know, in
the classroom extra time like that? I know you kind
of pour a lot into that.
Speaker 8 (24:05):
Did he tell you about that? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (24:08):
No, we we kick it.
Speaker 16 (24:08):
Oh yeah, we definitely kick it a lot. Uh got
a lot of similar similar things we enjoyed doing together.
Great guy, very smart, able to understand the game, especially
as a rookie. Man Like the way he understands and
sees the game as a rookie way better than.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
What I did as a rookie.
Speaker 16 (24:24):
So uh yeah, hats offt to him and I'm excited
to keep growing with him and whoever else they have
out there with me.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
What are the conversations been like in the meeting, so
speak about building off of what you guys did last
week and continuing that momentum.
Speaker 16 (24:37):
Defensively, Yeah, it's about just being ourselves at the end
of the day, coming out, being who we are playing
and play out and not having any lapses and like
doing your one eleven doing your one to eleven play
in and play out, and if we do that to
the best of our ability, we'll definitely like the results.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Next up center Tyler Linderbaum.
Speaker 13 (24:56):
Obviously, Yeah, the goal is to you know, to keep
him as clean as possible and not having to scramble
around like that. But at the end of the day,
it's football, and you know he's he's the best in
the league at that scrambling and making plays like that.
So yeah, obviously stuff breaks.
Speaker 8 (25:13):
Down like that.
Speaker 13 (25:14):
You know, Eight's gonna have our back at the end
of day. Yeah, we want to have his back all
the time.
Speaker 11 (25:19):
Is there a challenge in blocking for like an extended
play guy and and sort of making sure that the
kind of ws on the same page of being able
to do that sort of stuff or anyways the different.
Speaker 13 (25:32):
Cut to you that, I guess, I mean pretty simple.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
Just block the guy as long as you can.
Speaker 13 (25:36):
And you're having the best quarterback in the league, He's
gonna find someone to make plays.
Speaker 15 (25:40):
So I probably say establishing the run and support every week.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
But as you go into this game, how important is
it to get the ring gambling again?
Speaker 13 (25:50):
Yeah, very important. You know, being able to run the
ball it sets you up for other things. So just
being efficient on first and second down is always a
goal and put ourselves and more manageable for downs.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
It's always the goal going in the week.
Speaker 13 (26:03):
You know, obviously a no turnover game, great communication and
you know that that leads to high execution and high
level football.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
Tell it just just well, it's the feeling coming out
of the Broads game because you guys have been number
one rushing attack, Like, there's not many days like that
for you guys as.
Speaker 7 (26:20):
Run blockers, if in the run game gen.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
But what was kind of the feeling going out?
Speaker 13 (26:25):
Yeah, I mean, obviously you know glad that we won,
but you know, as an offense, we know we're totally
capable of playing better football, which is a good thing,
you know, I mean you know, having the defense the
way they played, having the special names the way they played, and.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
You know, still coming out with a win.
Speaker 13 (26:43):
It's it's better than being on the opposite side of losing.
But also with coming you know, winning, you gotta you
gotta learn from winning too, and certainly we did, you know,
a lot of stuff to clean up, but you know, we're.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
Not gonna dwell on one game.
Speaker 13 (26:55):
We're not gonna have one game to find us as
a as a as a team, as a unit, and
we know we're full capable of doing it.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
