Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome into the Ravens Press Pass podcast. The Ravens held
their final practice of the week as they continue preparing
for the Monday night football game against the Detroit Lions.
After practice, we heard from head coach John Harball.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Appreciate you guys being here, all six of you, and
we do good, good week of practice. Excited to play
Monday night football, Excited to play it at home, Excited
to play against such a good football team as Alliance,
and we'll be ready to go. Well. Questions, Yeah, go ahead,
(00:37):
a game like the Monday night game, big.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Spotlight game, Hector day all to have. Like, is there
anything that's different message wise or anything.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
You guys, Most of the message, Brian just kind of
takes care of itself. I mean, it's really about the football.
It's really about being prepared. And then really much saying
setting your clock because it's a different clock the week.
It's funny, it's only one day, but it seems so
much longer to get to the game. Monday is a
long day. But you know what, set your clock for
(01:06):
eight twenty on Monday night and be ready to go.
And that's what we'll do. John givin Helm serious neck
injuries can be with medification ing up on the injury
with what hell is he doing or is it muscular?
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Is a tructure?
Speaker 2 (01:18):
When he can for share, right, I really can't share
any details on the injury itself, but it's uh, it's
it's something that they're looking at. You know. He had
came up with some symptoms after the game. Nothing specific
in the game where we saw it actually it happened,
but they're dealing with the symptoms and they're testing right now,
so he will be ruled out for this game and
they're gonna try to get to the bottom of it.
(01:38):
How does it look broad right, I practiced all week.
We'll just have to see where we're at.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
You know, John, knowing, you know, without that a PK,
what have you seen from someone like Peoples who's played
some of the first couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Obvious says a rookie. But that someone you're gonna be
see him expecting to step.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Up a little bit, right, Yeah, and you know he's
gonna need to step up. You know. It's kind of
just your point, you know, with nomine being out, those
guys are all gonna have to step up and pick
up the slack and uh and definitely with Fubb. You
know he's got to do that and and and in
the run game, end the past game, whatever he's in there,
you know, no drop off at all. And I know
he's gonna I know he's gonna I know he's gonna
(02:15):
play hard and he's gonna get after it. And I
got a feeling Hill make a few plays.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Kyle, uh Dan Void with the hamster and as well
as is that still.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah, you know I'm going yeah, Yeah, I appreciate the question.
I'm probably gonna go stay in the category and all
those guys have uh not give her opponent anything that
you know, no yet, So yeah, I appreciate. I appreciate
what you asked.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
That was.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
That was well as well asked Well asked John.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
This is kind of an off beat question. Has anybody
contacted you about the like football stuff.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
I know they're calling some teams trying to get some
players for that Tom Brady led thing.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
You know he's lined up and play.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Or Tom's busy. Yeah. No, I have not heard from Tan,
Tom or anybody else regarding that.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
I'm curious Andrew work. He's going to be seen him
that you like local this year?
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Uh yeah, I think he's Uh, I think he's he's
been physical and he's been Uh, he just needs to
keep chasing consistency. You know, there's pass protection things. He's
had some really good reps. He's had some reps where
he's gotten outside of his his center of gravity a
little bit, you know. So he's working on those things
and uh, big challenge this week, you know, so he's, uh,
we need those guys to step up. Offensive line is
(03:35):
really uh, it's really going to be a big part
of this game. You know, if we can block, we
can block them and they're tough to block, and then
go a long way for us John along.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Those lines, you know, knock on wood.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Lamore has been a very hearing, durable pastile years. But
you see how many quarterbacks mobile quarterbacks have already been
knocked out of games. You know this year on ir
just does doesn't make you wary about all about just
kind of them back there.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Well, I mean, you got to just play the game.
You know, I think Lamar asked. I really do believe
Lamar has a great feel for that, you know, just
a good feel for that. So I trust him, and
but you got to go play the game. You gotta
go play the game to win the game, and and
Lamar does a great job of that.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
John, This is kind of ather random question, but I
listened to your Harvard Coaching Academy podcast interview with Dan Campbell,
and he talked about like glorifying the you know, the
small things like hustling to the ball, that kind of thing.
Did any of that kind of I mean, obviously you're
been a fan of that kind of small step before,
But did any of that rub off on you with
what you wanted to emphasize with the big spring TDS
(04:34):
and everything like that.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
No, I already knew that stuff, you know it. It
wasn't new, and it's but it's it's not it's not surprising.
You know, it's not surprising that that the coach would
have that mindset. And I was, you know, I expected
it because you watch his team's play. But those are
football truths. Those are those are self evident truths of football.
You know, we talk about a lot, and uh, you
see it in their team, and that's a challenge and
(04:57):
we expect to see it in our team too. And
I think that's one of the reasons that's such a
compelling matchup.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
You haven't see.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
Keith Mitchell geefs kind of numbers that even those is.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
That sort of just the case on a week basis.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
With him and numbers, and he really is, I mean,
he's he definitely could help us. You'd have to. You'd
have to, you know, he got so many backs you'd
be scheming him in for certain plays. But but he
would help us on special teams. He would help us
on offense. We just don't have the spot right now.
I guess in some ways that's a good problem to have,
but I would I'd much rather see him out there,
you know, and and see him active on game day.
(05:34):
It would be it would be really what I'd want
to see. Uh, So we'll see where we go. Rachine's
doing a great job on special teams. He's also a
very good running back. Uh he probably probably that Tilts
of Scale right now. You know, they're both really good
kick returners. So uh yeah, that's that's the That's a
tough one. But it's also a good way we're healthy,
(05:57):
you know, So we like that too. But you also
got to Mamber, I just feel like, yeah, I'd love
to have him out there in the game Monday night.
Love to have him out there the last three games.
But when he's out there, we're gonna be excited to
have him. You know, he's on our team, and he's
practicing really a great week of practice, really look good.
So yeah, that's part of the dilemma with the number
that you know, I would mind let everybody be active
(06:18):
that's on the that's on the fifty three. You know,
if they wanted to do something like that with the rules,
I'd be pretty cool too. But that's how it works.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
To be ruled them out if it's possible, might be
it could be an ir situation.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
You still don't know, just can't really comment out right now,
don't know enough to say.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
You know, I mean it's a gay yere. What's been
the dialogue with you back and forth? He seems that
he be handling it pretty well, having you know, with
this nagaut.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Yeah, it's been an honest dialogue. It's it's just a
really good conversation. He myself and Chuck and Sam, Rose
and Garden have all been involved in this, along with
obviously the trainers. But uh, he's he's doing great, and
you know, it's just gonna be sooner rather than lay.
I'll tell you that much he's practicing, it's coming along
really well, and he's joumping up the bit for sure,
(07:07):
and you know, I just want to be fair to him,
you know, and and do the right thing, all right.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
