Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome in the Ravens Press Pass podcast. The Ravens are
getting ready to face off with the division rival the
Cleveland Browns this week on the road. As to prepare
for that game, we had a chance to hear from
head coach John Harbaugh.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Good seeing everybody, appreciate you being here. Good practice. Not
quite meet the threshold for taking the press conference indoors
chead tells me temperature wise, So sorry about that. Good
to see you guys in your winner, coach, But we're
excited for the opportunity against a very good Cleveland team,
big rivalry. We know it's in store and we're looking
(00:39):
forward to it. But we got a lot of work
to do, and that's what we started doing today. What
question do you have.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
We didn't see Lamara.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Out there at practice, paint what's kind of this availability?
Speaker 5 (00:49):
Yeah, he'll be, he'll be listed with he'll be listed
as a knee.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
So it's not nothing, not the hamstring nothing there Uh
some soreners coming out of the game. Uh, so he
should be should be okay, looking forward to practice tomorrow.
We didn't see uh Justice Hill and then I know
he was off the kick return with were those were later?
And is he okay, yeah, he's got, he's he's got.
(01:14):
He's also dealing with something he couldn't practice with today.
So we've got two or three or four of those
kind of things, a couple of the guys, you know, So.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
What's the return kicking turning kicks.
Speaker 6 (01:30):
I know it's not ideal, but any comfort in the
fact you've done this already this season, being down multiple
guys to get ready for a day, I'm not too worried.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
About that really. I mean, it's, uh, it's the guys,
it's a game. We played a game.
Speaker 5 (01:43):
You know, it's a physical game.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
It's I think if you look around the league, there's
gonna be guys who don't practice on Wednesday. You know,
it's part of the deal. So it's there's gonna be
there's gonna be a guy or to maybe that'll miss
the game. Uh, that's okay. You know, we've got guys
ready to back up. But it's not it's not in
the category of before you know, it's it's not in
that category. So I think this is more of a normal,
(02:06):
a normal kind of a week that way, John, you.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Would said you might know more about Carlin's decision on
the finger maybe sard.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Carl had the finger finger pinned, so uh he Wrolon
won't be playing in the game, but he's but uh
he'll be recovering and hopefully the next week will be back.
Speaker 7 (02:24):
They go, John, you got those face on mccarfiel last week.
Now it's close to do facing.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
I know their rookie quarterback will Bill a Gateriel ho challenging.
Speaker 7 (02:31):
Can do that uh for the week.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Uh, very challenging.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
You know, it's it's uh, it's it's y. You gotta
face the you know the people that you play and
you got the guys.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
He has let it, let it. He's young. We haven't
seen much of them. Uh, challenging.
Speaker 7 (02:52):
I don't think you say anything about Tavius Robinson for
a while. So he's still on track for four to
six weeks, that.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
Kind of I think.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
So, yeah, such a little bit on this on Monday.
Just in terms of the defense and prep. You got
no crushers and things like that. What are you kind
of seeing just in terms of the progress in terms
of where do you want to get to with the
defense just as a whole learning team, it's kind of
where you're happy to.
Speaker 5 (03:16):
Get that progression to that.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah, I wanna be the best defense in the history
of football. That's what do I wanna get to. Where
I want to the defense to be. I want to
be the best that ever played. I wanna I want
the defense to be out there and I wanna give
up no yards, no touchdowns, no completions. I wanna get
sacks every time. Okay, So, like what's the standard. Standard's high.
It's high, high, and we'll keep chasing that high standard
every single day.
Speaker 7 (03:39):
Coach did the Uh did the news bat guy here?
Speaker 8 (03:41):
Uh decided to stuff away catch you by surprise?
Speaker 9 (03:44):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (03:46):
Yeah, I guess so. I mean I I think, uh
that was Uh.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Just think the world is jire, you know, and I
know he's uh must you know he's going through He's
been a challenge. It's such a challenge for him cause
I we were with him every day in here, and
he was working hard to get back, practicing hard to
get back.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
So you know, Uh that's Uh.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I haven't talked to him anything like that, so I
can't speak to him, but I just think the world
of them and I know he'll he'll figure it out
for sure.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Just a good person and hard working guy.
Speaker 7 (04:14):
A little bit see with the Browns. It's like, especially
up there as one up there, it is always kind
of a grind.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Out at the Gage.
Speaker 7 (04:20):
Why why did I mean you watched the film more
detailed than any of us. Why why do you think
it is a lot of times up there it's such
a grinded out game.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Against because they're really good.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Because I mean, that defense is one of the best,
if not the best defense going right now. I mean,
they got they got multiple top top end players, they
got a great scheme, they play super hard, they're physical,
they do everything really well.
Speaker 10 (04:41):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Offensive line been around forever, big physical offensive line. They
got one of the best young backs, these guys. This
guy looks legit.
Speaker 10 (04:48):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
They got they got tight ends. They got athletic rookie
tight end. They got a veteran tight end who can
make plays. They got one of the top receivers in Judy. Uh,
they got they got uh, you know, they got players,
you know, and they're and they're tough, physical outfit.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
It's a a f C North game. It's gonna be
one of those.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
It's gonna be cold, it's gonna be rainy, it's gonna
be windy, it's gonna be on the shores of Lake Erie.
You know, it's this is We're used to this, you know,
this is Cleveland and this is how these games go.
And uh and we just have you know, the utmost
respect for what what what how they play. You know,
so we've gotta we've gotta, we've got to be at
our best.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
SOO on that defensive line obviously is kind of that.
That's what leads that defense that you were just talking
about your office, A line to search up for that consistency.
How do they get that this week against that top
defensive front.
Speaker 5 (05:37):
That'll work really hard. They'll they'll they'll be doing their best.
Speaker 6 (05:43):
John Kean Martin just kind of coming here as an
undrafted rookie game just kind of what have you seen
him grow over these these ten weeks.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Well, I mean he's he's uh, he's played well. He's
everything he's done, he's done really well. He had, you know,
had an opportunity to start a game or two there.
I thought that was a great learning experience for him.
And he was out there making plays, and you know,
that's that's always that's always the biggest challenge, you know,
and you play every play and I think he I
think he grew through that and then every everything since
he's done well, I mean, playing great on special teams,
(06:11):
and he'll have an opportunity, it looks like, to do
some things in this game.
Speaker 11 (06:15):
You're asked about it one day, but m Lamar just
t quickly. He got them all out Sunday against all
those plits as he saw from from Minnesota.
Speaker 7 (06:23):
What impressed you by that?
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Up a roation, I just think he's been playing great.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
I mean, he's Lamark can do a lot of things.
You know, if you if you talk to people around
the league who have to defend the Ravens, and you know,
it starts with Lamar Jackson, you know, and and it
starts to the fact that, you know, we do so
many things on offense. We live in so many different
worlds on offense because of Lamar, because of our quarterback.
He can do so many different things. And that's one
of the things he can do, you know. So it
(06:47):
didn't surprise anything, shouldn't surprise anybody. Didn't surprise anybody that
been watching him. Player has to defend him that he's
able to get the ball out against Blitz, you know.
I mean, you guys made a big deal about the
whole thing, but.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
It wasn't to us.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
You know, he's been doing really well against that stuff,
and that's that's uh, pretty par for the course for him.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Actually.
Speaker 12 (07:05):
I know it's rules changed a little bit as you've
shuffled to things in the secondary.
Speaker 7 (07:08):
But how pise have you been with twin a woozy?
Speaker 12 (07:10):
He's done for you playing on the outside, especially North Marlin.
Speaker 6 (07:12):
I hope you're playing some later.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Yeah, Ta has been doing great. He's been doing great.
He's been playing really well. And uh, he's uh, he's
a he's a pro. He's he's just a good, really good,
really really good, really really really really.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
Good football player. I mean, he knows how to play
and he's uh, and you see it.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
I think for you to notice it, Luke, and and
and talk about it like that is is observant because sometimes,
you know, all those guys don't get talked about.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
But and sometimes you play so well.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
You know, you don't get noticed, you know, because uh,
because you just nothing happens, you know, especially at corner.
So I thought he played great, and I'm sure glad
he's on our team.
Speaker 13 (07:50):
Uh, you know, some guys play well without getting noticed.
Speaker 12 (07:54):
How big has Jordan's stuck. Jordan's stout been for you
this year touchbacks, you know the career high numbers.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Yeah, it's a great, great point. I mean, you know,
I guess it's the punter and the snapper. Sometimes you don't,
you don't, you don't. If their name doesn't get called,
you know they must be doing a good job. But
Jordan had to bang. He just blasted a couple of
punts down there deep inside the five, and he's got
numerous punts inside the five inside to ten this year.
I thought he had a really a really big game.
So but it's gonna be a big challenge this week.
(08:22):
I mean, you know, you're gonna have all the conditions
out there to deal with in this game. It's a
tough place to kick, tough place to punt, tough place
to field punts. Uh, those are gonna be things that
are gonna be really really important in this game.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Likewise, with Tyler Lou, you know what's kind of stood
out to you obviously, Like you guys had high expectations
for him, and Easton performed pretty well, even especially with
some of the kickoff, so that he's kind of zeroed
in on what's kind of impressed you the most or
stood out to you the most about him.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
So he's a real steady guy. Tyler is h He's
he's he's definitely a student of kicking, you know. But
he's just such a steady personalities, such an even good
natured kind of guy. And he doesn't really get rattled, like,
you know, if the kick doesn't go exactly right, he's
able just to kind of look at it scientifically and say, Okay,
this is what happened, didn't happen. He doesn't doesn't get
(09:13):
it said too much about it, I think, and that's
probably that's probably really important for a kicker.
Speaker 7 (09:20):
Great.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
Thanks, Okay.
Speaker 12 (09:25):
Next we heard from linebacker Brookland Smith, and it.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
Seems like Brown, especially going up there, always kind of
a tough match up up there.
Speaker 7 (09:39):
Why why is it such a tough game? It's up
there in Coplete money with the guns. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (09:44):
I think each and every game throughout the league is
a tough game. That's why everyone's in the league if
you ask me, uh, and then I think and that
it's a division rival, and they have a lot of
really good players on their team, really good defense, and
they have a lot of pieces on offense as well,
got a lot of respect for a rookie running back
ju forty four eighty five. A lot of those guys
so got some playmakers, and uh, it's the National Football League.
Speaker 7 (10:05):
Do you guys feel like you're starting your strive.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
A lot of people say it's the opponents that you're
getting that are not as good as wanting to paste
earlier because.
Speaker 13 (10:12):
Excuse like you guys just playing better.
Speaker 9 (10:14):
At the end of the day, this is America, in
this home of freedom of speech. So everyone is entitled
to their own opinion, and at the end of the day,
our job is to go out and play the best
brand of football that we can do, and that's what
we're gonna do, and that's what we're focused on.
Speaker 7 (10:26):
You have opinion, I don't care really.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Yeah, question most of lake Green some secon times he's
trying to start to affect uh the passer that edge
back Jacks.
Speaker 9 (10:37):
Yeah, I got a lot of respect for uh Mike
green Man ways Kin come in initially, you know, not.
Speaker 7 (10:43):
A lot going on.
Speaker 9 (10:44):
Uh early in the season. Uh probably wasn't getting rushes
he felt like he needed in a sense like that.
But the guy never wavered or anything like that. Stayed
focused So got a tremenous maunt of respect for him
for being a younger guy and not getting sidetracked by
things that are out of his uh control. So got
a lot of respect and I know he's just gonna
continue to grow as a player, and I'm excited to
see it.
Speaker 14 (11:04):
Teddy alongside If it looks like me outside of the
US down doesn't have to think as much.
Speaker 5 (11:09):
He's reacting as playing football.
Speaker 14 (11:10):
Is that what you're seeing alongside him as well?
Speaker 7 (11:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (11:12):
Absolutely, honestly moves looking back I think at like week
two or whatever, even though the offense is a little
different Cleveland in a sense right now, and like just
seeing the way he was playing the game then compared
to now, Like, yeah, I think things have slowed down
for him tremendously. So he's just gonna continue to keep
growing as a player, really smart player, really good dude.
Speaker 7 (11:34):
So I'm just excited for everything that's in store for him.
Speaker 8 (11:37):
For the rookies in general, the fact that they had
to play so many snaps early in the season, do
you think that's kind of paying off now that they're
maybe more ready than that they would have been if
that hadn't been the catch.
Speaker 7 (11:48):
Yeah, I definitely think so.
Speaker 9 (11:49):
I think the best teacher in life is experienced, and
I think once you go through something and you're experience thing,
you kind of know what to expect in certain situations.
So I think that's what it is for those guys,
and they're just gonna continue to grow and continue to
keep getting better. And I'm excited for him and I
enjoy going to work with him every day.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
If you've had the interception, do you still think you
had the interception?
Speaker 7 (12:09):
And how hard is when you guys see your celebration, Like, no,
it didn't count.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
You gotta get back out there.
Speaker 7 (12:13):
Hey, I'm not gonna lie. That one was tough.
Speaker 9 (12:15):
That one was tough, like cause I definitely thought I
had the interception. But at the end of the day,
it's more about what the refs call on the field
or whatever the league says the league office.
Speaker 7 (12:24):
So that's out of my control.
Speaker 9 (12:25):
I just got to do a better job of whatever
I have to do to make sure that it's an interception.
Speaker 7 (12:31):
And yeah, man, those gases, did you see him? I
was winded.
Speaker 9 (12:35):
I felt like I was in high school running gases
or something, but like, I was definitely winded coming back
to that. So definitely probably won't do that thanks to
who I think kay Ham came up with that celebration.
So yeah, some cat like him can go all day,
but you know, not everybody. And I remember Big Jink,
I was like he wanted to be the coach with it.
Speaker 7 (12:53):
He didn't want to do him. So it was kind
of funny.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
You got to look suld the one kind of looking
over people doing it.
Speaker 7 (13:02):
Well, see, we did think about that.
Speaker 9 (13:04):
We discussed it, but I was just like, well, we
don't need to design like one person just needs to
be the coach. I was thinking the person to do
the interception, but that person can be all wired different.
So we just said, hey, we'll just find one person
whoever makes the play, and then everybody will do it.
Speaker 12 (13:21):
And then it feels nice to find out something to
celebrate on that front. Does just feel like you guys
can turn a corner. The takeaway compartments and then you.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Guys talked about all off season and they're finally getting
into a rhythm.
Speaker 12 (13:30):
Is it funda at least just have those conversations about
how you celebrate.
Speaker 9 (13:33):
Yeah, absolutely, I think it definitely brings a lot of
joy and definitely when you can game plan certain moves
and dances, even though I can't dance as we know
around takeaways and things of that nature. So it's exciting.
And then it's more of like we got to get
better at planning it out. Even Zo reiterated that, So
we'll definitely be better with that, and once we get
(13:54):
the ball out this week, we'll have some unique stuff
for sure.
Speaker 11 (14:00):
Dance on its own. But does what happened in Cleveland
last year, you guys any kind of lesson coming into
this year's camp.
Speaker 9 (14:07):
I think the way we started the season offered the
biggest lesson of all. And I'm not worried about last
year because it's a completely new team, completely new group.
You know, we can't focus on last year and what
happened last year because granted, I don't really remember everything
from last year anyway. So it's just more about going
out and being who we are and knowing that, hey,
like always you're going into someone else's house and like
(14:28):
you have to take what you want what you want,
and I think it's as simple as that, and like
they're not gonna give it to.
Speaker 7 (14:34):
You by any means.
Speaker 9 (14:34):
They're in the National Football League, they get paid a check,
just like we get paid a check. They have family,
kids and everything to take care of as well, and
so do we. So it's about what you're gonna do
between the lines. And games are not worn on paper,
they're war between those lines. So that's what it's gonna
boil down.
Speaker 7 (14:49):
To touch about.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
Col Hamilton's very unique in line place.
Speaker 7 (14:55):
Yeah, you've played the scheme for a while. What do
you think thinks hamm s spossible?
Speaker 9 (15:00):
I think just upstairs, I think mentally man the guys
like so Cerebri, like he's a very intelligent individual, and
then have seen a lot of ball as well as
for young as he is, and like just study the game,
not like many people. And then I think when you
put his god given the ability with that what six'
four to twenty whatever he ways or whatever like that,
(15:21):
and like the way he can move and like put
his body in like certain ways, I think it's genetics.
Shout out to his mom and pops, like for sure,
like that's something you breed in the laugh. So but yeah, tremendously.
He's a good dude as well, so outside of the field,
So just being a good person I think that matters
a lot as well. But just happy that I get
(15:41):
to go to war with him weekend and week out,
and I get to call him a teammate.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
The celebrations and stuff, but gets their element and you
start talking about those things and plans and out that
they're just kind of speaking into an existence factor when it.
Speaker 7 (15:54):
Come to that. Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 9 (15:56):
I think psychologically, I think that definitely has to play
a part. But it's like, obviously we're thinking in our head,
we're gonna get turnover. So that's what we're thinking, and
that's what we're gonna put in the motion, and we're
gonna do everything in.
Speaker 7 (16:06):
Our power to make that happen. And like when that
time come, we.
Speaker 9 (16:09):
Gotta make sure we rejoice it and like have fun
with it because like we know that they don't come
all the time, but when they do come, it's crucial.
And we know the more that we can get, the
better odds we are we have a chance at winning.
I think that's what it kind of boils down to.
Speaker 14 (16:24):
You got a little bit of Dunkins cho He's much
more a feature back for them.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Now what do you you see many differences or what impresses.
Speaker 5 (16:31):
You about him?
Speaker 9 (16:32):
Yeah, No, got some respect for that guy for sure,
Like Yeah, week two had a little appetizer of him.
He came in late and got some got some nice
yards as well. But like, yeah, seeing him over the
course of the last couple of weeks, Uh, the guy
runs hard, got a nice jump cut, make guys miss
use the stiff form a lot. So you know, respect
(16:52):
him as a runner, respect him as a player, But
at the end of the day, it's about what we
do on defense.
Speaker 7 (16:57):
So but respect him.
Speaker 8 (17:00):
Know how much the guys are front will help you.
Travis s Troones, he'd been playing maybe the best ball
of his career over the last few weeks of you.
Speaker 9 (17:08):
Yeah, No, I've got a tremendous amount of respect for
Big Trav.
Speaker 7 (17:13):
Really good dude. And then yet the way.
Speaker 9 (17:15):
He's playing right now, Man, he's playing to the standard
that he needs to play it and he's going to
continue to do that. And I think he knows that
as well, and he's just going to continue to keep
getting better and being who he is. And I think
once he do that makes us a better defense overall.
And I know he understands the impact that he have
on us as a defense as well. So when he
plays at a high levels, it allows everyone on the
(17:36):
d line and plays a high level as well. Other
guys get one on ones and it obviously frees up
the backers and everybody else when the offensive line and
people have to make sure he's accounted for.
Speaker 15 (17:48):
Football fans know that traditions matter. They're what inspire us
to make Armasa and Tostedos the traditional way, starting with
whole corn colonels, no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives, all
to give you that perfect crunch. Discover your next tradition
this football season. Head to the store, grab your Tostedos
team bag, and skin on the code for a chance
to score an epic experience with the Baltimore Ravens. Tostitos
tradition matters.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
In locker room today, we heard from a handful of players,
including full back Patchwork Card.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
It just takes a little bit. And also it's like
calf might be healthy, but everything else around it hasn't
been running as much or playing football, so it's getting
all that back and everything. So it's I'm feeling, you know,
today I felt pretty good.
Speaker 7 (18:30):
How would you.
Speaker 16 (18:31):
Kind of define these Ravens grounds games. It feels like
they're always kind of slugged beast out of the season.
Speaker 6 (18:36):
Yeah, I mean it's always just like always like it
feels like high school football in terms of like we
all know each other. We played each other twice a
year mostly everyone's been on the same team for a while,
and it's kind of like who can be the most
physical and who will quit first? You know, it's not
it's never really a blowout, so it's never really just
like I don't know, just it's just I guess, like
(19:01):
I said, whoever's gonna quit first?
Speaker 3 (19:02):
You got when guys play, sometimes you have a long layoff.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Chris Tucker being real tentative when you come back, you're
worried about reinjuring, reaggravating the injury.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Did you feel have you been tentative or did you
say I'm not coming back till I know I could go.
Speaker 6 (19:16):
I think it was more my rehab, you know, it's
like figuring out like if is my calf healed enough?
Because I did re injure it. I was just very
cautious of reading it for a third time to where
like that might be my whole season. I think now
it feels good enough to where like I don't really
notice it. It's more of just managing it, make sure
it's it's ready to go for practice, as stretch, as activated,
(19:38):
it's warmed up.
Speaker 7 (19:40):
I don't really feel it anymore.
Speaker 6 (19:41):
It's more like other things, like I said, like different
tendons in my leg that hasn't been doing a whole lot.
So it's like almost kind of ten to night ish.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
But yeah, no, So the answers the question, John said
that he expects Lamar to be back tomorrow, that he
should be okay, But you know, as an offensive player,
when mar is not out there, is there.
Speaker 7 (20:01):
Is there a level of concerns sometimes.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
I mean, of course you want them out there, right
but at the same time, like we all have a
lot of confidence in Tyler Hunley, you know, so yeah,
I mean, we would love Flamorn to be out there
every day, but obviously understand that that's just not the
case right now. So we'll see when he's back.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
Because when you look at that Brown's.
Speaker 6 (20:22):
Defensive front, it's kind of obviously they're not getting the
results of the team.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
What challenges does that front present for you guys? They're
very physical, they get up the field, they penetrate.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
Obviously they have Miles Garrett, so that's a huge challenge
in itself right there. So it's just one of those
D lines where you have to like just get on
them right away, don't let them get going because when
you when they get going, they get a head full
of team. They can reset the line of scrimmage and
make it more difficult for us. So I think it's
just getting on them early, just trying to like just
anticipate where they're gonna be, where they're gonna move, how
(20:55):
fast they are, because you know, you play against teams
where the D line is more like the more you know,
they're like boom read they're just trying to go. So yeah,
it's a little bit different if you're not used to it.
And I think now playing the second time for the team,
it's it's gonna help with that, uh that style they have.
Speaker 16 (21:11):
What do you do Miles gart a lot? Is there
any foss there's a lot of you know, you got
a new contracts.
Speaker 12 (21:16):
Is there any part of you that was.
Speaker 16 (21:17):
Like, you know, if he doesn't end up back with
the Browns, I want to be sad about him.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
Yeah, you know, I kind of kind of hope that
he would have left Cleveland, you know, because like our
division has like the best edge rushers t J. Wattham,
Trey Henderson. So I'm like hoping one of them would leave,
but they all keep staying. But like I said, it's
it's it's it's a lot of fun to face those
guys because of how great they are. It's like a
measure to see how great you are as a player
(21:43):
to go against them and so on. Respect where it's
it's cool to play them twice a year, but obviously
I would like to maybe not play them.
Speaker 7 (21:50):
Where does a mile rank against? Like the best players
you've you've gone to go against.
Speaker 6 (21:55):
I think he's number one. I think just everything about him.
You know, he's a big guy. He moves like a
small guy, and he's so strong, and he plays so
hard tow where it's like if you're if your fear
under underneath you and you don't get on him early,
it's gonna be just He's gonna either go around he's
gonna go for you. There's so much respect for him.
(22:16):
I think he's just a generational talent. I think he's
probably one of the best edge rushers this league has
ever seen.
Speaker 12 (22:25):
Next, we heard from safety Kyle Hamilton.
Speaker 6 (22:29):
Opinion.
Speaker 14 (22:30):
Each week, it looks like it's just more and more
comfortable with everybody. The new piece is coming in. You
have another one like Draymont, where you know, just the
confidence looks like it's soaring from all.
Speaker 12 (22:38):
You guys, and I guess it can kind of leaves
to dreams.
Speaker 10 (22:40):
You get to stop.
Speaker 13 (22:41):
Yeah, it's it's a week to week league, and I
think we've built a few I built some confidence the
past few weeks, just stepping from after the bye. I
think a lot of guys it was a good time
for that bodycome and just like a hard reset for everybody.
And you know we're rolling now as a defense and
as a team. So we just got to keep it going.
(23:02):
Can't take it for granted what we've created the past
few weeks. We got to keep it moving.
Speaker 14 (23:06):
Turnovers we seemed to be contagious.
Speaker 5 (23:07):
Why would that?
Speaker 10 (23:09):
Why is that the case?
Speaker 6 (23:10):
I don't think.
Speaker 7 (23:11):
Uh might be a little bit jealousy.
Speaker 13 (23:14):
People see other people getting turnovers, they want thrown turnovers,
so na, But it's something that we practice and something
that has to be intentional throughout the game. Intentionally punching
at the ball, ripping out the ball, whatever it may be.
And you know, guys see other guys doing it. And
motivates other people who kind of brings that intentionality up.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
You joked about the celebrations after the games, and all
the guys did too, But is there a serious element
of these celebrations talking about them can kind of speaking
into existence when it comes tools takeaways, Yeah.
Speaker 13 (23:44):
You know, I feel like there's some truth to that.
You know, there God works some serious ways, and you know,
I feel like manifestation is somewhat real when it comes
to turnovers.
Speaker 7 (23:53):
Yeah, I feel like if you.
Speaker 13 (23:54):
Think about getting turnovers, punching out the ball and practice
you're talking about, it seems it tends to rear its
head in the game. So we gotta keep doing that.
But at the same time, keep the fundamentals and all
that good stuff.
Speaker 7 (24:09):
Put this defensive tad now.
Speaker 6 (24:10):
Is just kind of what you envisioned back in the
beginning of the season where you guys could be or
is there is there another level that you take you
guys can take deals?
Speaker 13 (24:18):
Honestly, no, I mean I was playing safety at the
beginning of the season, so it's not exactly what I envisioned.
But I mean we're I'm all forward, and you know,
seventeen games in the regular season and However, many of
the playoffs, it's not gonna go to it's not gonna
be playing a all the time. So props everybody involved, coaches, players,
just adjusting on the fly, and you know, kind of
(24:40):
everybody not being self centered and doing what they need
to do for our defense to be right, I think Ravens.
Speaker 7 (24:47):
And Boston three of the last four trips to Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (24:50):
Is there any kind of lessons to be at all
of ether?
Speaker 13 (24:54):
I actually didn't know that. No, I mean, I don't
think there's any lessons involved. Like I said, each game
is mutually exclusive, and you know, just because we've lost
there last year or whenever else, you know, it's not
the fact that I didn't know that kind of shows
that where we're at with that. So nobody's been talking
about it, and we just gotta go win a game plenty.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Down on your line of scrimmage as much as you
have lately, Like, what does that allow.
Speaker 7 (25:17):
You guys to do with defensively?
Speaker 8 (25:20):
Uh?
Speaker 13 (25:20):
You know, I think it allows us just play with
some looks we can play, don't have to worry about
swapping personnels on and off the field. I fel like
it's a big thing and with this League. Now it's
a lot of different personnels and all these offensive systems
are throwing twelve eleven, twenty two, whatever it may be
at you, and I think we have the flexibility as
the defense to kind of line up and play our
stuff and dictate the games. So I think the coaches
(25:43):
put us all in great positions to do so, and
you know, we've just been doing that the past. However,
many weeks, Kyle, you talked to on.
Speaker 8 (25:49):
Sunday about kind of some of the silliness of the
rush to judgment on Malachi and in particular, I guess
when you look at all those rookies who were starting
for you as a defense, do you feel like they
all kind of have their legs under them at this
point with all the reps they've gone.
Speaker 13 (26:01):
Yeah. And you know, for as much as we talked
about early season, like BET's being hurt and guys start
starters not playing whatever, being out for the year, Uh,
the silver lining to that was that these young guys
get some experience. So it's showing itself now and I'm
super happy for everybody involved, not just Mike Green or Malexi,
(26:21):
really everybody. Cawja Jackson's the guy who stepped out these
past few weeks. Super happy for him, Keyon Martin. Undrafted
guy comes in and you know he's gonna have to
play a big part for us. So I'm happy for
those guys at the same time. And everything happens for
a reason.
Speaker 7 (26:36):
How if somebody that didn't know you actual position you play,
what would you tell it? Safety?
Speaker 13 (26:42):
I W I would say safety got drafted as a safety,
says safety on the roster. Probably safety.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
Make a dyllent.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
I'm looking tape on me.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
What are you watch that before or anything or work?
Speaker 13 (26:57):
Uh I, I know he uh are Remember I'm at Oregon.
I think he's somewhere else before that. Yeah, maybe, but yeah,
he's I in a non weird way to put it,
he reminds me of too honestly lefty, super accurate, accurate
uh On target throws a pretty ball, quick release, and
(27:20):
you know, it's kind of cool. It's like seeing talking
about our rookies, like he got thrown to the fire
and kind of been running the show for him and
it's super cool. And they got running backs to running hard,
rookies running super hard, respect the way he runs the
football and just their philosophy over there.
Speaker 7 (27:36):
You know it.
Speaker 13 (27:36):
It's always fun playing Division games cause it doesn't matter
the record or wherever. Maybe I'm sure they don't care
that we're on a win streak too, So it's gonna
be fun to go in there and play play game.
Speaker 5 (27:46):
Because he's just.
Speaker 12 (27:50):
Or anything.
Speaker 13 (27:55):
Uh, I think we're prepared to play against whoever's out there.
Speaker 7 (27:57):
It doesn't matter when when you go up.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
To Cleveland, there's all whether you think it supposed to
be like forties wink us of thirty or whatever. As
a player, do you ever think about, like when you
go up to it's just like the Cleveland absent about
whether and how could it.
Speaker 7 (28:10):
Be games or anything like that.
Speaker 13 (28:12):
I think that's a Jordan Stout Tyler Luke Sally what
kind of question.
Speaker 7 (28:17):
I mean, I'm not.
Speaker 13 (28:17):
Gonna not play because it's too cold or something like that.
So I'm kind of wasting your breath talking about it
if it's like, damn, it's gonna be cold, and it's like, well,
I'm still gonna have to play. So but I think
gun Notre Dame kind of helped out with that a
little bit. Maybe it was more of a shotcome from
Georgia going out there seeing snow for the first time,
but not I kind of like running games.
Speaker 7 (28:37):
It's fun.
Speaker 16 (28:38):
After the uh gaser celebration didn't work out as as planned,
who's uh coordinating the celebrations now?
Speaker 13 (28:44):
Yeah, I I I don't know, I know, I'm I've
been fired. I I hope whoever is my uh uh
successors can uh come up some better set with celebrations,
hopefully someones that actually count.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
To We also heard from Newest Ravens edition outside buying
backer Draymont Jones.
Speaker 10 (29:12):
It was good to be out there playing a lot.
I appreciate it shows how hard I worked and shows
how I much trust the having me to just be
able to just now get here and then play that much.
Speaker 5 (29:22):
How comfortable were you out there? It looked quite comfortable.
Speaker 10 (29:25):
Yeah, I mean I was able to pick up the
play is pretty good. And then once I heard him,
I was ready to go because at the end of
the day, it's still football, so I was able to
do my job.
Speaker 7 (29:33):
I thought I did pretty good.
Speaker 5 (29:36):
As far as coming up there.
Speaker 14 (29:37):
This week, you get another not technically rooie last week,
but like a rookie quarterback here another one this week.
You know, just a's a guy who's been in the
league sore, Like, what have you learned about facing guys
that are still just trying to figure things out?
Speaker 10 (29:48):
I mean guys are trying to figure things out, trying
to figure things out, so they played like it sometimes,
you know, being an older guy, you know you can
pick them on things and see things a little different.
The confidence is much more, you know it, So everything
triculates together.
Speaker 12 (30:03):
Wild was last week?
Speaker 6 (30:05):
Sorry as wild is your request last week? And I
know you're there to work. Is it nice to to
get a trip home and see some familiar faces?
Speaker 7 (30:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (30:11):
Man, I got I get to see uh, my girl,
my kids, parents, brother, you know, her side of the
family too. Just good to see my my, my original
support system. Is good to see them. And then just
being a familiar place, like I feel like I've been
lost for a little bit. I mean unintentionally, but you know,
I don't know anything about Baltimore, so but it's good
(30:31):
to be back.
Speaker 12 (30:33):
What's the ticket request looked like for you this week?
Speaker 7 (30:36):
Speaker 11 (30:39):
Pretty might any extra satisfaction in beating a Michigan alumna
forever for Minnesota?
Speaker 10 (30:48):
Oh he did go to h I didn't even really,
I'm so much older. I didn't even realize that went
to Michigan. D that's crazy.
Speaker 7 (30:54):
I want to now that you mention it.
Speaker 10 (30:56):
Yeah, it's it's a little better.
