Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome into the Ravens Press Past podcast. The date is Monday,
October twentieth. The bye week is officially over, and today
after practice, we heard from head coach John Harbaugh, wide
receivers Zay Flowers, cornerback Marlin Humphrey, inside linebacker Roquwan Smith,
and O lineman Roger Rosengarten. First up today is head
coach John Harbaugh.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Good start to the week, back from the bye and
had a very good practice, very sharp, very happy with it,
and we'll be be working this week to get ready
for our game. What questions you have.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
John, didn't see more out there act se this week?

Speaker 2 (00:45):
You know, I think all the guys are working really
hard to get back, I can tell you that. So
we'll see who's back and who practices on Wednesday. I
don't really want to comment on any individual guys per se,
and I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
That you anticipate in the market.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Plays same as.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
What was your biggest takeaway from the bye week in
your time taking a look at everything that you're bringing
with you in.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Your aid, Well, I mean, yeah, that's a great questions.
It's an exhaustive type of a review, you know, and
you do it as you go, then you get a
chance to kind of step back and you really dig
in on different kind of reports and analysis and film study.
You try to build in where you want to go
going forward. And it's a real opportunity and we try

(01:35):
to make the most of it really every year, and
we really tried to make the most of it again
this year. And I think I feel really good about
what we did. I feel great about what we accomplished.
A lot of hard work, a lot of discernment, judgment choices,
things that you have to kind of decide what direction
you want to go, what's best for us going forward
that we can you know, maximize and play our best
football really and that's I'm really pleased with where we're at.

(01:58):
Now we've got to go put it to put it,
put it into action. So the opportunity in front of
us is is great, and we've got the get people
for the job. We've got everything we need and we've
got to go get started. This week, John Davis Robinson
has gives you a lot of snaps, and now you've
lost that, how.

Speaker 5 (02:18):
Do you go about replacing that end?

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Do you anticipate elevating one of those practice squad edge guys. Yeah,
that's a possibility. We'll have to see as week goes
on in terms of personnel groups whether we feel like
we have to do that or not. Uh, you can
pick it up other ways too, you know, other guys
versatile players, you know, the bigger guys can go out,
the smaller guys can come down. We could do it
that way too, So we have to see what we do.

(02:41):
But I wouldn't be opposed to that. I mean, those
guys are doing a nice job in the practice squad
as well, So that's gonna be an important, important, important
factor for us on defense, is filling those reps up
because Tavius is a real physical, real physical edge player,
a real hard playing guy, and we're gonna need that.
We're gonna need that to be no drop off of
those reps that are taken.

Speaker 6 (03:02):
Bears are on a.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Good run, what if the team then in.

Speaker 6 (03:04):
A particularly that game from that?

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Yeah, I mean, I think they've done a nice job
playing you know, winning football. They've uh, they're starting to
get a feel offensively, they've scored some points and the
defense is playing better and better, so they're playing good footballs.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
How much kind of ramp if you guys. That would
be much ramp up time when you're not probably be
a specific But I think secondly you can how much
of a boost is who do adapt you do?

Speaker 7 (03:29):
Well?

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yeah, I mean it's really it's a big deal. I mean,
in in this league, you know, players are it's a
players league, you know. I think back to Clarence Brooks,
you know, he said it's it's always been a players game,
and it always will be a players game. That's never
gonna change. And that's really the truth. So having your
players on the field is important. It's and uh a
player like that, like Row, or a player like any

(03:52):
anybody else. All the other guys, the guys that came
back last week. You see the difference it made, you know,
between the week before and last week. So it's a
it's a big boost.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
John.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
I think Wednesday is the deadline for you guys to
activate Memory.

Speaker 8 (04:06):
For the fifty three.

Speaker 6 (04:07):
Is that something you.

Speaker 8 (04:08):
Guys are gonna do?

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Well? Yeah? Uh, Memory is not gonna be cleared by
the doctor for this week, So the doctor hasn't cleared
him yet to be uh to be activated for this week.
So uh, if it's not this week, it it would
be next week. So it's up to the doctor. No,
we're not gonna put him on season ending. R oh,
I got you, okay, yeah, he he. I don't think
he'll be up this week just for that reason, cause

(04:31):
the doctors hasn't cleared him yet and we're not gonna
put him on season season ending. Ir right.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
In terms of you such, it's a little bit for
the three week in terms of the reset, How valuable
was it given you know, the difficulty relant so cool?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
How valuable?

Speaker 3 (04:50):
So uh, how valuable was it to have the time
to kind of reset, refocus, How important you know for
for that by week become what it did.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
It's very valuable. I mean it was it was it
was eat it, you know, as an opportunity for us
and to what to do a couple of things. I mean,
one thing was to help us get healthy for sure,
and that's I don't think we could have been more
more more injured at that point in time for the
last couple of weeks. So that's a big part of it.
And then for us to take a look at everything
we're doing, I think we're doing a lot of great things.

(05:17):
You've got to take you got to take it into
understanding you know who's out there and who's not playing,
So you don't want to overreact. You just want to react,
you know, you want to react. You want to understand
where you're going, reset and reattack, you know. And that's
really what we're gonna do. We're gonna reattack uh this week.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
Just go back to the old line with them.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Where it is that any of those positions, is that
something you still look at as as you know, we
might make a chance here, we're still evaluating that or well.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
I mean, I think you know the way the question
is asked. I think everything is always under consideration, you know,
And and that position you guys ask about a lot,
for sure, but it's true for every position. I mean,
you look at every single guy. As Jerry Rosberg said,
the evaluations are comprehensive, an ongoing, and that's just the
fact you make it. You evaluate everything every single day,
and coaches do it completely uh in uh from everything

(06:10):
from individual reps to group reps, the team reps, the
practice reps to game reps, the game reps being the
most important reps. Everything is great and everything's evaluated, and
you play the guys you know in different spots that
do that they're playing the best. And that's what coaches
spend their time doing. I promise you nobody has a
better understanding of of that of the offensive line, or

(06:32):
of the quarterback room, or of the wide receiver room
or the dB room. Then the than the coach is
coaching that those guys every single day. I mean, they're
studying it, they're on it. It's it's there. It's what
they do, you know. And uh and so that you
look at all that and you say, Okay, this gives
us the best chance to be successful with this this
guy or this group or whatever. So that's where we're at.
So when you see a group go out there or

(06:52):
a player go out there, that's that's the guy who
gives us the best chance, who's playing the best all
things considered. So that's where att now, Emory he's had
a couple of weeks now practice. He's shown a lot
of good things, but he's also has a lot to learn.
Just being honest about there's a lot that goes into it,
and he hasn't had all through training camp really to
work the finer points out of the pass protection or

(07:14):
the calls and things like that. But I do think
he has a chance to be a factor this year.
You know, he's he's looking good and uh, he's talented,
he's tough, and he wants to do well. He works
real hard. So yeah, he's definitely working himself into that conversation.

Speaker 9 (07:29):
How well we've gotten to see Patrick Ricards.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
He's out there again today.

Speaker 9 (07:35):
Are you feeling better about maybe him getting out there
against the bands?

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Well, I mean he practiced more so you know that, yes,
But like I, sais kind of like all the other guys.
Just put him all in the same category and we'll
see where we're at as we go, because we don't
know for sure.

Speaker 10 (07:49):
I do a lot of guys, how hard bands do
you do advanced down when the teams ahead?

Speaker 1 (07:53):
I know you have a quick turnaround at the Bear's one.

Speaker 6 (07:55):
But as coaches, I know it's other.

Speaker 11 (07:57):
Play, other personal he working for bandage. How much help ahead?

Speaker 10 (08:00):
You get a chance to join the.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Buyball, Well, I mean I'll get a chance to get
to the I'll get a chance to get to the Dolphins.
And I've looked at other teams in the some teams
in the division. Took a look at Miami a little bit.
But you focus really on yourself in the bye week,
I mean the molt. The bulk of it is on yourself,
and then you work ahead into the Indian ext opponent
for sure, and then you get a chance to kind
of take a look at some other things probably on

(08:23):
the side. But like you said, different different coaches are
involved with, different analysts are involved with, you know, working
out a no further.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
You know, it's good started obviously a little small margin
going forward to.

Speaker 6 (08:34):
YouTube any of the math to say, Okay, what I
will will take us to get to.

Speaker 9 (08:38):
Like by the end of season, coming and wins.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Things like that, It's not that hard to figure out.
It's pretty simple math. I don't have to think that
long about it, to be honest with you. And I know,
I know that winning the next game would go a
long way in helping us. That's what I really understand.
You know, That's what I think we all, all of
our players, all of our coaches. You know, that's what
you really need to understand. So you know, we understand
and it's a challenge, but we also understand we're playing

(09:02):
the game next Sunday, and we have an opportunity, and uh,
we want to make the most of it.

Speaker 5 (09:07):
Cover have the coordinators during the buy soon again, what
co What conversations do you have with your coordinators.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
During the buy?

Speaker 2 (09:15):
I have a lot of conversations with him, a lot
of things. I mean specifically, you.

Speaker 5 (09:20):
Did you talk with that you want to particularly with
the edge room, the things being out, just like how
you guys are gonna, like mentioned earlier with snaps and
then offensively, you know, committing to commitment to running the
ball against the rams that we haven't really seen anything
in regard.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
To those teams.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Yeah, definitely, I mean, yeah, absolutely, not just that. I
mean we talk about everything on defense and and the edge,
the edge players who's playing to your question, is definitely
part of that conversation. That's probably a I don't know
a percent. There's ninety nine percent of the other stuff
we're working on. We're we're talking about. You talk about
what direction you want to go. You talk about kind

(09:56):
of what personality want to have in different situations, what
calls apply to that personality, Who we want to put
where to do those different jobs, you know, how we
want to substitute guys out and off the field. Uh,
those are all It's just it's a lot, you know,
it's it's it's exhaustive and it's fun. It's what we
love to do and it's exciting because we have a
lot of good players, you know, and we have a
lot of good scheme. And then as far as the offense,

(10:20):
what was the question about that it seemed like there was.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
More of a good running the ball against the Rays.
We we see the kind of the previous week, and
I know you have fought its talked about with Todd
kind of finding a.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Better rhythm because I think I think the offense is
like you know, there's a commitment to running the ball
for sure, and that's that's the Ravens. I mean, if
we don't want to get away from that. You know,
we believe in running the ball. We believe in stopping
the run. A lot of teams don't, you know, a
lot of teams don't think it's important. You'll hear a
lot of metric people, analytics people say that's not important.
So but it's just kind of it's it's our it's

(10:51):
our DNA. You know, we believe in it. We want
to be able to do it. And so that hasn't
really changed throughout the course of the season. We've we
haven't done it as well as we want to do it.
But we did and we did it better against the
Rams for sure, and that was that was encouraging. So
you know, we've got to find a way to keep
building on that. But the conversation was about much more
than that. It was about how we want to structure

(11:13):
the offense going forward schematically, and how we want to
how we want to try to create problems for people
to defend the players that we're putting on the field
and create opportunities for those guys the best way we
can and uh and keep ourselves, keep people off bounds
as much as we can. Complimentary football, those kind of things.
How do you build that schematically? Those are the conversations

(11:34):
that we have, right great, Okay, thanks, thank you.

Speaker 11 (11:39):

Speaker 1 (11:59):
That was coach John Harbaugh next up on Raven's Press
Past podcast. We have wide receivers, they flowers.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
Is there kind of an adjustment, you know, especially with
handoffs with Cooper.

Speaker 6 (12:15):
And the.

Speaker 12 (12:18):
Nah, I like, it ain't really no, it ain't really
no difference. You just getting the ball, So it ain't
really no difference. It was on me, So I'll take that.

Speaker 9 (12:27):
Trying to make a play, I mean, I know that's
always the case of in a case of that game
like Lamar's House, you guys are struggling to score. Does
it feel the need to make a play?

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Does it?

Speaker 9 (12:37):
Does it feel that much bigger? Like you gotta try
to make something happen?

Speaker 12 (12:41):
Absolutely, because I feel like we wasn't moving in that well,
so I try to make something happen.

Speaker 13 (12:47):
There.

Speaker 9 (12:47):
You have an opportunity to look like on the mia Lee,
what did you take away?

Speaker 2 (12:51):
What's your fucker?

Speaker 12 (12:53):
Get healthy and let's go in the net week.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
Okay, it's obviously.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
Appropriating to start for you guys.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
How much you get the bye week kind of service
against the mentor not just physically.

Speaker 10 (13:03):
Get guys back, put a mental reset uh?

Speaker 9 (13:06):
Or the strategic games.

Speaker 13 (13:08):
Uh?

Speaker 12 (13:08):
Like you said, like we all needed a mental reset
and were ready to come back out swanging and we
go tryna make an example out of this first game.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Say, I mean, even.

Speaker 13 (13:17):
Though Lamar's been out the past three games, and and
obviously that's a huge entry to overcome, but you still
feel like this offense is better than gets shown itself
to be in in the last certainly the last the
first six games, but especially the last two.

Speaker 12 (13:30):
Oh yeah, absolutely, cause we still got pieces all around
the field. It's just we just gotta put it all together.
And it's tough when you missing your starting quarterback, but
we still got all our pieces that we you know
what I mean. So we got everything we need. We
just gotta put it all together.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
What what's been in the conversation? Like did you did
you all talk about your vote for bye week?

Speaker 10 (13:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 12 (13:53):
I mean we talk every day. It just you know,
we all trying to get healthy, get right and start
a Rennis Street to get back on track.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Do you feel we'll be back this week?

Speaker 13 (14:03):
Uh?

Speaker 12 (14:03):
That ain't got I don't know that ain't I don't
really know what the situation if I'm being honest, But
if he is, we'll be ready to go.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Say, if you guys are talking here about the offense
just not hitting riding, did you feel like you can there's.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
So much talent around the offense.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Do you feel like there's something that isn't translating on
Sundays or for somebody that doesn't.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
Play him to get out there.

Speaker 12 (14:22):
I don't know, Like I feel like every every Sunday
we come out there, we come out there to win,
and we prepare the the winning way, So when we
get to Sunday, we just go play and sometimes it's
just go like that.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
It's a fuliamental perspective.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
When Lamar does return to the field, how big the
field do you think that'll be to the offense and
the old team?

Speaker 12 (14:41):
Really, it's gonna it's gonna put us back, Like you know,
you get your starting quarterback back. Everybody gonna feel good,
Everybody gonna gonna be ready to go, and everybody gonna
behind him.

Speaker 9 (14:51):
Who say, obviously you can record is what it is
coming out of about. But just how important is this
Bears game just to start fielding up that momentum that
to get to the playoffs.

Speaker 12 (15:02):
Uh, it's super important cause we don't wanna lose no more.
So we gotta start it off right right after the
about week. Everybody got fresh, everybody got a mental break,
come back, start off with a win and try to
go on the run.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Is it when you get a chance to get any
little winter by week.

Speaker 12 (15:15):
Or a nah nah nah? I went back to BC
watch the game, but that's the only thing. Came right back,
got some treat man, just chill.

Speaker 10 (15:22):
What what do you think is sort of the predominant
emotion from the locker road out of from one five
starting from.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Can we us?

Speaker 12 (15:29):
We got the same motion one in five? Nobody wanna
be one in five my belt? That's try huh.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
How big of fiallence do you feel like? I mean
this every you know, suspend your playoff to beat playoff team?

Speaker 6 (15:39):
How big of a challenge do you think it's gonna be.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
From going from one and five and going to the
getting to the playoffs?

Speaker 12 (15:44):
I mean it's possible. So we ain't we ain't we
ain't down there. I I know we can do it.
I think we could do it. So that's what we
finna come out and do I feel nutch yeh.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
That's great?

Speaker 1 (15:55):
As has it been hard at points?

Speaker 5 (15:57):
Just to get as I.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Felt like some fas.

Speaker 12 (16:04):
No, I'm evenly feel no frustration with that, because if
you know how many pieces you got on the team,
you know you can't get the ball as much. So
whenever you get the ball, you try to do whatever
you can to make the best of it.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
You're listening to the Ravens Press Pass podcast. That was
wide receivers Zay Flowers. Next up today you'll hear from
cornerback Marlin Humphrey.

Speaker 7 (16:31):
I think it was a good time to get some
guys back healthy and get ready for this second half
a season.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
Marlin, what did you think of the changes you guys
implemented with you know, Kyle moving to the nickel, you're
playing more on the outside. Your impression of that, and
how do you think that can help the defense move
you cod?

Speaker 7 (16:54):
I guess I could, you know, the honest answers. We
still lost, so I don't really know what it did.

Speaker 13 (17:02):
That.

Speaker 7 (17:02):
The objective is to win, so you know, I could say,
you know, it is this, it looked like this, like this,
but the the result was uh, still a loss. So
we're still I think trying to figure out, you know,
what we can do going forward to hopefully win some
games and kind of get the the stink up off
of everybody.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Well, exact word said that you thought you guys played
with the most intense that you've played all the year
against the Rams Week one. You thought maybe this defense
wasn't mature.

Speaker 10 (17:27):
Up.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Do you feel like you guys have had to mature
quickly or gotten to where you hoped to be or
wanna be at this point?

Speaker 7 (17:32):
Yeah, so yeah, I don't know if you guys remember
when I said the mature thing. I was saying what
coach Harbaugh said. Yeah, and then I I get a
report said to me that I said we weren't mature,
and you know, so, I don't know which one of
y'all just put that out there, But then there was
that was my That was not my quote. That was
a quote I was putting out there. So I can't
really speak on that. I was just speaking on, uh,

(17:54):
the quote that was said to us. So that would
be a a horribut question.

Speaker 9 (17:59):
My What do you feel like you guys have to
do to start playing more consistent point in football?

Speaker 3 (18:05):
I'm I'm really on goals.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
Yeah, I'm just I've kind of given up on what
we need to do. I'm I'm putting all that in
the coaches' hands. The coaches give us what we need
to do, and we try to go from there. The
biggest thing I'm trying to do is just to do
my job, do my assignment, and kind of do my
own independent studies. Uh, take what I have, take what
the coaches have, try to go there Sunday. Uh be
the best version of myself. Help help the guys and

(18:27):
in whatever way I can. But uh to give answer.
I think we all been trying to figure that out
for you know, really five ga or four games, five
games straight, hevery man, we've lost, and so we we're
still searching for that. Hopefully we'll we'll kind of figure
out some things and get some wins.

Speaker 9 (18:45):
Does there sell faith that the coaches can put you
in those.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Spots to to is there the things you need to do?

Speaker 11 (18:51):
Is there?

Speaker 9 (18:51):
What is it still faith? Do you guys still have
faith that the coaches, what they're telling you is still
the things that will result in the six the succession.

Speaker 7 (18:59):
I think the best thing we've done is players this
year is we haven't really questioned the coaches. I I think,
you know, even though we have a losing, you know record,
obviously there there really hasn't been a lot of you know,
turmoil and turmoil and guys turning on each other. I
feel like we have been in this all together. I
think that's the there's one positive for the the first half,

(19:20):
I would say it would be that there there's been
There has definitely been a want to, There's been a
a trust there and you know, I I do believe
that we are very close. It just close in this
league is is is not enough? You just gotta do it,
and everybody in in our room is it's definitely still

(19:41):
on the mindset that we still can't do it, and
I believe we can and I think everyone else believes
as well. So it's another opportunity to to go out
there and try to do it.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
Maryland, there's one in five. Do you you know one
in five? Do you allow yourself at all to think
pick picture? Obviously there's not a lot of you know,
wigle room in that or is it?

Speaker 6 (19:59):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (19:59):
It it does that hard to do?

Speaker 10 (20:01):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (20:01):
Is it hard to not to think about?

Speaker 7 (20:03):
What's the question?

Speaker 10 (20:04):
Uh? Y?

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Is it hard?

Speaker 9 (20:05):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Do you do you think at all about the big
picture of being one in five and not having a
lot of wheel room when it comes to obviously between
now and the playoffs, is it difficult to not think.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
Of those seas.

Speaker 7 (20:17):
I'm I'm just we're just I'm just trying to win games.
I think everyone else is trying to win games. I'm
I'm not sure exactly the question, but we're we're trying
to win games.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
R Carlo, do you.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Enduring the bye week just because it is a small
margin of era going forward? At one to five? Do
you look ahead at the schedule? Do you look at
the teams that you have to be coming up and
doing for.

Speaker 7 (20:43):
The second it would be nothing greater if we could
beat the Chicago Bears this Sunday. I mean, it's I mean,
I think you just we are one and five. We
were like one and five. We so we've we've won
one game, lost five games. The other thing I think
anybody wants to do is just to win one game.

(21:04):
If you're focused on anything other than that, I hope
you let somebody know because you need to either meet
with our mental health person or somebody, because we need
to focus on one game, one practice. I just want
to win a game. That would be like really cool.
I'd be really happy it's just not fun to lose games.
It's something I told the defense. I've never really been
a loser in my entire life. I'm not really cool

(21:25):
with being a loser. I'm not really comfortable with being
a loser. So I just want to win one game.
And if that's not everybody's mindset, there needs to be
a sit down and figure it out how we can
get that on your mindset, because I think that's the
that's going to be the way, the only way going
forward for us.

Speaker 12 (21:40):
To win one game.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
That was cornerback Marlin Humphrey. You'll now hear from inside
linebacker Roquan Smid on Raven's Press Pass podcast.

Speaker 9 (21:57):
What are you feeling?

Speaker 11 (21:58):
Rero?

Speaker 6 (21:58):
Feeling really good?

Speaker 10 (21:59):
Thank you asking how about yourself?

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Well, how about the biewe?

Speaker 9 (22:02):
Did you do anything fun or mostly kind of focus
on work?

Speaker 8 (22:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (22:06):
It was just more so focused on work, getting a
body together and everything like that. And I was fortunate
enough to be able to see the Dogs play, so
that was pretty awesome.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Yeah, Okay, how much of a what a reset was
the bride? Were you or were you either physically in
or not?

Speaker 6 (22:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (22:20):
No, the bibe week was awesome. I think it came
at a uh right time for us as a team,
uh for myself as well, Uh getting back healthy and
then just like redolling our focus and just knowing, oh,
you know the plans and like the plan on where
we want to go and Kay doing that and getting
back healthy. So it's a major for us for sure. Bro.

Speaker 8 (22:38):
When are when did the answering as you crop up
in the game and and what was it something you
were dealing with that that got worse or sort of
sudden moll Uh.

Speaker 10 (22:49):
I I felt that it was a little but you know,
at the end of the day, it happened. So I'm
not really dwelling on the past at all right now.
I'm more so focused on going out and being the
best version of myself moving forward. Can really think about
when something was happening that happened. So it's over with now.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Do you think you placed on day?

Speaker 13 (23:06):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Yeah, absolutely. H How you kind of watch.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Teddy Tray kind of take on a lot of.

Speaker 8 (23:13):
The responsibility what have you have to try to help
them out the past the games?

Speaker 6 (23:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (23:18):
Man, those guys, I think their roles grew tremendous.

Speaker 6 (23:21):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (23:21):
Like obviously when I went down and like the way
those guys took it amongst themselves to actually be the
best version of themselves, raising their standard up preparation and
just being the guys that the guys looked up to,
uh to get the communication out. I thought those guys
uh did a ununbelievable job just in their rolling with
their experience. So you hats off to those guys and
they're just gonna continue to keep getting better.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
What do you feel like the vibe was today's practice
with your return and kind.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Of the hope that you're gonna get some other guys back.

Speaker 6 (23:49):
In this same hill.

Speaker 10 (23:50):
Yeah, No, it was a it was awesome vibe out
there to day. I feel like everyone is refreshed, uh regenerated,
like and everyone is feeling you know, exactly what we
know we need to feel, uh in order to be
the best verser ourselves. So that's what it's about and
going out and doing that. And I felt like the
energy was really great at practice. UH doubt guys was
dialed in, uh locked in, not many uh mental mistakes

(24:11):
or even physical mistakes, uh for that matter. And I'm
feeling really confident, so very excited to see that. And
it's also sign of confidence as well.

Speaker 13 (24:19):
Or is there any sense mentality for you going up
against the Bears.

Speaker 10 (24:23):
I'm excited about the match up, UH, for sure. UH
han't gotten a chance to play the UH Chicago since UH.
I've been here, you know, grateful for uh all of
my time in Chicago, A lot of amazing people over there,
got a tremendous a mount of respect. UH. But obviously
it's the team that's on the schedule, and every team
on the schedule has to get up with accordingly. You
have to be the best version of yourself week in

(24:44):
and week out. And it happened to be the Bear.
So obviously I have a probably a lot of friends
and family and stuff that'll be in But it's about
me doing my job to the best of my ability
and showing the world exactly who I am.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Oral.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
UH, we've heard a lot of the guys that stable
and this too can turn.

Speaker 9 (25:01):
It around from your perspective, What is it about this
team and the.

Speaker 6 (25:04):
Guy that makes not feel this to Uh?

Speaker 10 (25:07):
I know each and every guy that's in this locker room, UH,
at least to the degree that I know them, and
I feel like that degree is deep enough to know
the mindset and how optimistic each and every guys are
are in this locker room. I feel like we're all
internal optimists.

Speaker 13 (25:21):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (25:21):
And when you think about it from that perspective, it's like,
we know exactly what we have to do and it's
about going out and doing it. And like I've reiterated
to the guys throughout the week and at the back
end of last week, it's about locking your jaw and
having that mindset of like, hey, it's gonna go down
by any means, and you gotta be there and be

(25:42):
willing to put your face in the fan every given play.
And all that takes is you doing your job to
the best of your ability a hundred miles an hour.
And when you do that, great things are happening. Will
love the results. So that's what it's all about. And
it's just getting back to the basis and being ourselves.
But I'm confident and I know exactly each and every
guys in this locker room and who I am as well,

(26:02):
and just excited to show after this by how rejuvenated
we are and how we're ready to unleash and show
exactly who we are and because we haven't showed that
quite and we obviously know that, but it's not about
what's happened in the past. It's more so about what's
happening in the future. And there's been many great stories
and there's gonna be another one coming soon. But obviously

(26:23):
it's one game at a time, and it starts this
coming week.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
That was linebacker Roquan Smith on Raven's Press Past podcast.
Next up, you'll hear from offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten.

Speaker 6 (26:44):
I think the breakers most needed, especially for health wives,
get guys back. But you know, it all starts up front,
like you said, and you know it starts with me
all the way down to Rownie and each guy down
the line got to do their individual drops, one play
at a time, just staying focused, you know, to make
an emphasis this back half of the season of being
extra physcal too. So that's kind of my mentality on

(27:05):
these next few games going in.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
Yeah, you say extra physical, I mean it's the short
yardage plays that we were all talking about because last game.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
Is that the symptomatic of the physicality, do you think,
or yeah, something else?

Speaker 6 (27:16):
I think it's I think it's short yardage, pass downs,
normal downs, you know, just finishing plays, you know, because
it all starts up front and especially especially this galley.
It trickles down to you know, tight ends and receivers
going in there in the block. So whoever, you know,
all starts with us. So that's kind of mentality.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
No, Andrew's new and if Ronnie's been banged up, and
I'm sure you guys all have your your you know,
pumps and pois stuff. But you know a lot of
people look at mostly the continuity of aong this line
and expects you know, growth or exceeding what you guys
did last year.

Speaker 8 (27:53):
What do you think is kind of leading to maybe
come up.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
A little shorter than you guys did last year.

Speaker 6 (27:58):
Yeah, you know, for us, I think it's just focus, focus,
each play in and out. You know, maybe we've gotten
a little bit too loose on it, but I know
the second half of the season, you know, we just
have to be that much more detailed because we we've
put ourselves in a whole. You know, we have only
ourselves to blame for the record we have now. But
good news is we get some guys back getting and

(28:19):
you know we're gonna put emphasis on focus on the
little details.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
So you went through it as much as anyone last year.
From Week one against the Chiefs to growing into the
end of last year. What do you what does that
experience tell you or inform about this year's experience and
what is possible after.

Speaker 6 (28:36):
The spot Yeah, you know, highs and lows. You're gonna
have highs and lows going in through a season. You know,
seventeen seventeen week season is a long season. So you
know you want to keep stacking plays. You know, we
talked about in the line room, keep stacking plays, So
staying focused, toy in, diligent for plays, plays in, plays out,
and if you keep stacking us, we're gonna have good results.
So it's on us for us to you know, stack

(28:59):
good plays together and get good drives going and put
some points on the board.

Speaker 12 (29:02):
The increasing physicality is that team a message in the
team meeting and the offensive meeting room do line.

Speaker 6 (29:08):
Where Yeah, it's definitely an emphasis in our in our
individual meeting with the old line. But I know, come
back from the spy, just me mentally think about everything
coming back me personally, I just want to be more
physical on the wrong game, pass, game finishing. So because
that stuff matters, and I think it it'll trickle down
to bright guard center, left guard, left tackle.

Speaker 8 (29:30):
So you know, anything I can, dude to.

Speaker 6 (29:33):
Make myself more physical for the guys and kind of
get a spark going, I'm gonna do it.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
So that was offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten. That's it for today.
