Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome into the Ravens Press Pass Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
The Ravens took down the Green Bay Packers Saturday night
in Lambethfield, winning forty one to twenty four.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
After the game, we heard from head coach John Harlong.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Congratulations to our football team and to our to our leaders.
Just a heart defining win is what that was. The
type of win that makes you proud to be a Raven,
makes you proud to be to beat with these guys
every single day, starting with Derrick Henry and Tyler Huntley
and everybody else that led the way to this victory.
(00:32):
So very proud of these guys, Very grateful for this game,
Very grateful for this win. Derek. Derek talked about it
in the pregame prayer and talked about I'm gonna I'm
gonna make you ask him what he said in the
pregame player prayer and what he's what he talked about
to the guys, because I just think the belief on
this football team is at a real is at a
level that I've never really seen before because we've been
(00:52):
through a lot, and uh, it just makes my heart
sore to see that and to see how these guys
respond and how they're there for one another, and how
they fight for one another, how they run the ball
for one another. Uh, it's it's it's what it that's
what a team should be. So what questions you have?
Speaker 4 (01:09):
How many how many thirty six carries, two hundreds of yards.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
Four touchdowners, Yeah, you can't.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
It's it's one of the it's one of the greatest
performances I've ever seen, you know. I mean, it's just
it's it was hard downhill running, but also a lot
to make miss. I mean, he's making guys miss. He's
he's taking it inside, taking it outside. You'd be remiss
not to talk about the offensive line and the and
the tight ends, but also the wide receivers. I'm gonna
tell you when you watch that tape, you guys, go
back and watch the tape, and you're gonna see everybody blocking,
(01:35):
including the wide receivers. And I get a little Jay
out there blocking people. Bait is blocking people, Hop is
blocking people. They all are eighty ones in there fighting
blocking people. I mean, it's, uh, that's what I'm talking about.
You talk about a team that cares about one another.
Speaker 6 (01:49):
What was at State had to win to keep your
chances alive. How important for how intentional was it to
sort of be physical and be imposing in in that
way that you guys.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Were well, I mean, I don't really want to connect
those two things because they're both true. But we were
intentional about that every week. We want to play that
way every single week, and we are physical every single week.
I thought it really expressed itself today for sure, and
we were able to move the change, We're able to
stay on the field. We did the things to stay
on the field and extend the drives. We've been doing
(02:21):
those things all year. But something would, you know, something
would intercede and knock us off the field. And we
did get a chance to express that physicality with more plays.
We got the plays today, We got the time of
possession today that we hadn't had another game sometimes. So
just really proud of that. And that's the difference.
Speaker 7 (02:38):
You don't think more of committee more to run today,
more you could get more opportunities.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
I do think that. I do think that. I mean,
we were intentional about committing to the run for sure.
I'm not going to downgrade that. I mean, it was
like a main deal, but it was a week before
and it was a week before that, and it was
a week before that too, so we probably did a
better job of it. I do think that, Jeff, we
maybe we were you know, more intentional, maybe we didn't
get away from it. Maybe, but we also had more
opportunities because we got the sticks moving, you know, we
weren't third and long very often. So that was good
(03:06):
in the moment.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
He responded to the moment a plus.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
I mean a plus. Give him two pluses on top
of that, maybe three. That's that's how it was. I mean,
it's it couldn't have been any better. I just thought
some of the clutch plays, the kind of plays that
you have to make. And then you know, I see
Tyler every day in practice, so I'm not surprised. I
see him. I see him execute every day in practice.
But for him to make the third down conversions, the
scramble plays, the throws, the on time throws, the accurate
(03:31):
throws that he made to run the offense in lambeau Field,
I mean it's loud in Lambelefield. To run the offense
the way he did make the checks, the way he
did get us in the plays we needed to get in,
just a plus.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
And I was Tyler how critical it was.
Speaker 8 (03:44):
It was the first sequence to the opening drive, you know,
his first past Andrews, then you know Derek to pick
up fifty yards and get that early.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Score probably probably really critical. I would say Tyler can
answer that. But from I felt good about it and
sure made me feel confident, you know. I was happy
to see it got us off on the right foot
the lead. That was good for us too. We ended
up taking the ball we don't always do that, got
the lead that was big.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
I was gonna ask you often will defer.
Speaker 9 (04:07):
Did you was it a matter of warning your offense
on the field right away and set the tone or
what why did you do that?
Speaker 3 (04:12):
It was twofold. It was try to get the lead,
and I thought I thought we could do it, you know.
But also the wind because that wind was howling in
that one direction down there, So that was the bonus
to that was we would have the wind in the
fourth quarter or back for Tyler loop if we needed it.
Speaker 10 (04:28):
On the three y are facing third and nine, You
give the ball to Derek, he gets a third and
long and you get in.
Speaker 8 (04:33):
Derek gets like a nine yard game, then gets the
big game down the sideline that two place sequence.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
How critical was that point?
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Absolutely critical. I'm proud of Todd for call it. You
know that was that was that showed a lot of
confidence and and I mean the run just the run
was phenomenal. I mean the run was it was uh
it was right up our sideline over there, you know
it was. It was impressive run. How many time you
ran through? About four guys in the offensive line came
in and put some more muster into that and the
(05:00):
wrong you know you would need.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
The Browns and beat the Steelers. Or how closely you.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Watching that game, I'll probably watching a game pretty closely. Yeah,
but that's you know, it's out of our control. We
understand that. And uh we did our part and we
got another game next week that we intend to go
win your regardless of what happens. And that's that's our job.
So that's what our guys will be thinking about.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
John Pick. Some fans took note of, like the place
sheet that you're holding on.
Speaker 10 (05:27):
I don't know if you normally do that on a
tweet face stood that you have any more kind of
oversight the offense that night.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Oh no, no, the same place you always have.
Speaker 8 (05:37):
Yeah, yeah, h what was the heart or I guess
the center of your postgame message noting that you know
you don't control your destiny and what do you be
with your staff.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Or anything tomorrow or have company during that game?
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Were you in the postgame message? Did you hear some
of that? Okay, there might be some plans perhaps, but
we'll see. What was the question?
Speaker 8 (05:58):
What was the heart of your said sharing any of that?
Speaker 3 (06:01):
It was just what I shared with you. The heart
of the message is just how much I'm proud. It's
like my dad. My dad texts after every single win
and he says he said, he said, this may be
your team's greatest win ever. He says it every week,
and every week he's right, and he's especially right this
week too. And that's how I started off the meeting.
After we after we prayed and and gave Glori and
(06:22):
nott Or to where it belongs. This was probably our
greatest one ever. I have to quote my dad on
that one.
Speaker 10 (06:28):
I know obviously that you know physical play has been
this team signature for as long as you've been here.
Do you kind of connect the dots that all between,
like how many guys and your team is kind of
knocking out of games and then how well you because
I wouldn't have thin realize.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
I am proud of this team and how physical they play.
I mean, this is a physical football team as I
if I've ever coached or been associated with at any level.
This is a physical football team all three phases. Look
at the kickoff coverage team. I'm proud of that.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Man.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
I'm proud of the way these guys bringing every single day.
I'm proud of our brand of football. It means a
lot to me to see to see these guys embrace
that they want to play that kind of football. They're
they're they're calling for it, you know, and man, that
just yeah, that makes me really happy, makes me proud.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
How's that? I just put the thoughts on the defense,
you know, kind.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Of up and down day, but at the end, I
was I thought the defense did a good job of
kind of picking themselves up off the mat, you know.
I mean those those there's just too many big plays
in the passing game, just crazy, you know, how did
this happen? Kind of plays? We were a little on
our heels, we were a little discombobulated there and it
was shocking and we were all kind of shocked by it.
So I thought, led by Roe and and and Kyle
(07:40):
and those guys, they did a good job of kind
of kind of taking a deep breath, took a breath,
got it, figured it out, and just and start and
started playing a little better. I gotta give I gotta
give them Malik Willis a lot of credit. We had
him in the pocket numerous times, you know, not and
he got out and made plays. That's probably the biggest thing.
So you know, all those things are things that they
had to overcome, and I'm glad we did finally at
tm okay.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Next, we heard from running back Derek Henry, who had
four touchdowns on the game.
Speaker 11 (08:09):
I mean, you had some great performances in your career,
where where would nothing's rank for you?
Speaker 12 (08:15):
Tonight was really fun. It's like coach said, uh, I
did the prayer before the game, and you know, I
just talked about gods. He's playing free and trusting, trusting
and believing in each other. Like we've been through a
lot this season. I mean, there's no there's no shine
away from that. And we know what we need to
(08:35):
do to be able to still give ourselves a chance,
and that's just playing for each other and understanding that
you know, the Lord's gonna be there with us regardless,
and he's been there with us this this whole time.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
So no hot South.
Speaker 12 (08:49):
Hats off to guys just blocking old line. Like Coach
Harper said, tight ends, receivers, full backs. It's the unselfishness
of them, you know, sacrificing you know, their body, you know,
for us to have success in the run game and
dominate the line of scrimmage and dictate the game the
way we want to there.
Speaker 9 (09:07):
There was much made last week about you not getting
the ball in the.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Fourth quarter of that game. I got it today. So
was it intentional today?
Speaker 9 (09:16):
Did you expect coming to this game expected twenty five
thirty carries or more?
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Was was that just how the game played out?
Speaker 12 (09:21):
I would just worry about being effective with any opportunity
that I got, and being efficient in the run game
to give out such a chance to get into drives,
let those drives uh ending points and and run the
ball physically, and you know, it just focused on us
dominating the line of scrimmage and established establishing the identity
(09:42):
in the run game throughout the game. That was just
my main focus. Whatever carries, it was, what's gonna be
I just wanna go out there and make something happen.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
You had your feeling it after the game, after a
lot like that. Huh does this feel like a normal
game for you or are you feeling at a little
likes to work now? I mean, I feel good.
Speaker 12 (09:57):
My drilling is still going, so I can't give you
the exact feeling.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
I might be a.
Speaker 12 (10:02):
Little sore tomorrow, but I'm built for this is what
I trained for. So and like I said in the interview,
and my friend comes through the Lord, so you know,
I pray to him, and you know I'll go out
there and do what I gotta do.
Speaker 8 (10:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (10:12):
Were you aware of the number of milestones you crossed
in this game? Moving into fifth all time? Uh, touchdowns
stands all the time rushing you You've passed OJ and
the Adrian Peterson for the most two hundred yard games
in NFL history. I just you tigle with Dandy and
Tomlesson for the most hundred yard games with two touchdowns.
There's there a crazy long list of players to you
evil or passed tonight.
Speaker 12 (10:33):
Yeah, I'm just I'm I'm s so thankful and so blessed.
God has been so good and every teammate, coach that
has contributed, you know, throughout my career. For me to
have those accolades and the success I've had, I'm just
very appreciative. You know, as a kid, you know the
names you mentioned, you know, growing up hearing those names,
idalyzing those guys and my name to be mentioned with
(10:55):
there is. It just so a surreal moment for me
and something that I always cherish, you really.
Speaker 11 (10:59):
Really really on.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Hey, when you get on a roll, you know that
first drive you can make, can you feel alright, I'm
I'm being in chunks here.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
That's gonna be a big night.
Speaker 12 (11:07):
Oh yeah, for sure, thank you.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
You know, just I gotta keep it going.
Speaker 12 (11:13):
You know, once you get in that rhythm, you gotta
keep that keep that rhythm going.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
I feel like, not just me, just the whole offense.
We were just in the rythm R.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Can you guys right ry practice? We had confidence and
alright that it made you beat trustes and what.
Speaker 11 (11:29):
Broke this year and stepped into through spots and helped
deliverer let your wig's wins.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
Yeah, I mean snoop and ready.
Speaker 12 (11:35):
Man, It's like I knew whenever his time come, he
was gonna deliver and we you know, we talked uh
throughout this week like you know, we we knew what
we had to do. And I told him we need
Hollingdale snoop uh out of high school and uh.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
He was like, let's go. And I saw a right
boy went out.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
I said, yeah, he locked in. So it wasn't that
surprising me.
Speaker 12 (11:54):
Man stoop and preparing for this, you know, this whole season,
and it just shows the the work he's put in
some more Eric, you.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
Know obviously the it's still lining there.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
Guys's control of this morning.
Speaker 6 (12:05):
Yeah, how will you spend tomorrow in terms of that
Steelers Browns game?
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Oh, I'll be watching the praying for sure.
Speaker 12 (12:11):
I'm gonna pretty soon as I get before I get
on the plane, when I get home in the morning,
when I wake up, and hopefully, you know, we get
blessed with the opportunity to have to play for something
week eighteen. But at the end of the day, you know,
we still gonna focus on finish decision strong. But you know,
we we do need a little of a h a
a favor from Cleveland, but it is what it is,
(12:32):
so we we we know what it's that state position
that we're in.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
But you know, we gotta got to enjoy this one
for sure.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
Good good.
Speaker 10 (12:39):
How have you seen me off at the blind kind
of rinue before these last three games?
Speaker 12 (12:42):
Oh yeah, it just been they been locked in, man,
And uh, I'm I'm proud of those guys, man, cause
they you know, they work hard. You know, it's not easy,
you know, doing what they do weekend and week out,
you know, putting they bodies on the line, and it
just come out and and can continue to work, continue
to trust and believe each other. And you know, i'ma
let the I let them know that I trust him,
(13:03):
believing in them unless we get the job with them.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
And that's for the end of today. Right, that's alright?
Speaker 12 (13:06):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (13:10):
Next up, we heard from quarterbacks Tyland compla.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
Man, just like you said it. It was a must
win and we got it done. So you know, now
we can get on the plane, came back a little
bit and get ready for the next week.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
Okay, how were the Virginia tell that there again? It
was so perfect? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (13:30):
Right when he touched that ball, I was like, yeah,
they not ready, they not ready? And he he ran
straight downhill alum and blocked I tied in some receiver
us they blocked and then you know that was and
everybody executed.
Speaker 6 (13:42):
So super thirty ten playing in the game. That touchdown
to kind of sort of seal the wind with the
past the Zay Flowers. What did you see there? And
how good did that?
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (13:55):
Uh, I had I had the Jay Flowers manned up
against whoever corner was, and I knew. I knew once
he ran that Chris route, I could just let it
ri up and he made the play that he needed
to make.
Speaker 13 (14:08):
How thig was that driver before?
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Man? It was?
Speaker 5 (14:11):
It was key that we we got what we did
because you know, it like a lot of momentum be
in this game, it's a it's a lot of momentum
that could swing and you know, stop stop what we
had going on. So, you know, getting getting down there
and making it happen was that's key.
Speaker 9 (14:28):
You had the longer you had the long quarterback draw
twenty five or thirty yard run and a couple other
big third down run.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Did you did you come into the game with the
plan to also be a runner? Nah?
Speaker 5 (14:40):
Once, Once they just gave me the lane, I just
bought it down and made the play that I could make.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
Oh when did you know that you di start to.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
Probably I can't even remember right now, Like I just
you know, I just prepare every day and I just
be ready for when they say it's time to go.
You know, uh we w we was uh you know,
l was doing everything's powered him and make sure that
he was able to play this this game. But you
know it, we couldn't get it done. So you know,
(15:10):
I was just ready.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
So the biggest what kind of message from John Harvard
resonated with with you? Or or was this team you
think going to this game? Before this game?
Speaker 5 (15:18):
There's really all we he been preaching that we know
what we gotta do. We gotta go win. So you
know it wasn't nothing. Sure, I wrote that in my note,
So we gotta go win this weekend, and that's what
we did.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
You as those had really good game.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
Yeah nah, he had a great game.
Speaker 8 (15:33):
Yeah that old you back up quarterbacks Like what did
what did you two show today about what a backup
quarterback can do?
Speaker 5 (15:38):
Nah? We just gotta be ready to play out any time.
And then you know, coming down to the end of
the year, you know, a a lot of dudes are
are banged up, so you gotta be ready to step
in and and he had a great game for sure.
Speaker 7 (15:49):
If there was some uncertain game about where you were
gonna play this year, M you feel clear about that?
Speaker 4 (15:54):
Do you think you've kind of sent a message to
everybody else how well you played this year when you kind.
Speaker 5 (15:59):
Of OPPORTUNI yeah, yeah, you know, I just I just
appreciate the opportunities. When I get to get on that field,
you know that it'll show for herself. You know, I
just want to win her.
Speaker 10 (16:12):
Man.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
It was dope, you know. He he went and got
it for me right when I came to the side, like.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
You put it on me.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
I was like, that's God.
Speaker 9 (16:21):
How will you spend tomorrow during that Steelers brown skin?
Will you watch with teammates?
Speaker 4 (16:25):
Will you watch it now?
Speaker 5 (16:27):
I'm really gonna I'm trying to make it out of
here so I could crost your door real quick and
make sure he get it done. So now I'll probably
just be, you know, just watching it and get some rest.
Shot just when we got to the Browns, you know,
that's what I knew of him, and he probably knew
of me, you know. But once we got to the Browns,
you know, we linked up a little bit and he
(16:49):
cool dudes, man, Okay, appreciate You'll appreciate.
Speaker 13 (16:54):

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Next, we heard from a tight end, Mark Andrews.
Speaker 7 (17:16):
There was no sign of you know, guys giving up.
We're gonna we're gonna continue to fight and you know,
just just to carry that through and see it through
today and be able to finish this game.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
Feels really good.
Speaker 5 (17:27):
Four point Tyler hotly.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
But why do you think he's able to succeed a
new types of situations.
Speaker 7 (17:33):
Well, he's a great player. You know, he's a great player,
and you know he's a pros pro. He takes this
very seriously. He runs his offense extremely well, and you know,
really just managed this game and it did a great
job making making great decisions all throughout the game. He
fought his butt off and I'm proud of him.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Wait and you guys open gain the way you gad
and Derek's rolling early on? How does that set the tone?
Speaker 7 (17:55):
Just trying to be efficient? We talk about that is uh,
you know, making good decisions, being efficient moving the ball,
being able to put points up on the board.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
And that's what we did in it.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
How much was it an emphasis this week in practice about.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
Running the ball?
Speaker 7 (18:07):
Yeah, you know, I I think that that that's part
of our identities be able to run the ball. We
have incredible talent obviously in the backfield, the line, guys
that have really moved guys out the ball, and I
think today was a just kind of all round picture
of what we can do and in the raven way.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
How would you describe Derrick Henry's performance tonight.
Speaker 7 (18:24):
He's a beast man, He's a piece, He's he's one
of one and really just a joy to be able
to block for him. He's so good, he's so fast,
he's so physical. We stuff to bring on one on one.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
How about situation?
Speaker 6 (18:36):
Obviously must win situation, going out there to play his
best game.
Speaker 7 (18:41):
For you guys, stone cold man. He was stone cold
and uh, we got a lot of trust in him
and in what he can do. And we we've seen
it time and time again. The dude's a fighter. Okay,
Mark wam doing?
Speaker 4 (18:51):
You don't control your dest same We've talked to you
about that before. How will you spend tomorrow? And what's
the movie related to?
Speaker 7 (18:58):
Tune in, Tune into that game and hope for the
best man, pray on it, and you know, hopefully the
cards fall where they were where we want them to,
and we get an opportunity.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
That's all we can really hope for.
Speaker 7 (19:08):
What do you think it says about this team though,
in a situation where it was in the bust away game,
that come out and be as fysical as you guys would.
It's awesome to see we got a bunch of fighters
in the in this room and this organization that that
refused to give up. And you know, obviously this isn't
the spot that he wanted to be. We had so
much talent on this team, but I'm very proud of
these guys.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
