Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the Ravens Press Pass Podcast. The Ravens fell
to the New England Patriots on Sunday, losing twenty eight
to twenty four at M and T base Stadium. Afterwards,
we heard from head coach John harpall.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
All right, appreciate you being here. Tough loss. Guys fought
and battled but didn't enough to win the game. Didn't
do the winning things that we needed to do to
win the game. Made plays but not enough and made
some mistakes.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
It cost us.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
What questions, Jeh, John, what's dis verity with More's back injury.
It's a bruise of some kind. I think I don't
know how how serious he'll be. We'll have to find
out the next couple of days. He got he got
kneed in the back, you know, on the ground there.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
John, Why wasn't Derrick Henry in the game?
Speaker 3 (00:51):
And those you know?
Speaker 5 (00:52):
I know that last is two minutes, but the second last.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
The second to last drive. Yeah, he was coming back
in the game. I think we had Keaton start the game.
Derek and Keaton had talked about that. Keaton had started
the other drive and Derek came in and finished it off.
So as part of that rotation. Uh, he was going
back in the game. Then we got stopped. I think
we had what two carries on that of the four plays,
maybe follow the sixth place.
Speaker 6 (01:16):
I'm we're happy with the play called first down pass there,
and you mentioned Keaton getting a couple carries, but don't
you what Derek Henry in the game at that point,
and we gets kind of yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
I mean yeah, I mean I look back and I say, yeah,
you know, play calls the play call. You know, if
it works, we're thrilled about it. If it doesn't work,
we're not happy about it. We try to first down
run the second part of that drive and got nothing.
So you know, those get stopped too, especially when they're
all up there in the line of scrimmage. So we
had an RPO call that ended up being, uh, you know,
(01:47):
we could have been thrown actually, and it was given,
you know, and they ended up stopping that wet three
yards on that one. So I don't like to drive
at all. We're looking back, would rather have Derek starting
to drive. Yeah, but you know Derek, Derek was kind
of ready for Keaton to start that drive and then
he was planning on coming in next so they were
working that rotation. You look back on it, I think
it's pretty easy to say he should have been in
(02:08):
there or shouldn't have been in there. But we're rotating
those guys throughout the games. Has two backs, you know,
and but yeah, game winning drive. Do I want Derrick
Henry on the field, Sure, I do want him on
the field.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
John, at halftime, did you see if Mark could go?
Speaker 2 (02:24):
And did he just at that point did you know
he couldn't or was he did?
Speaker 7 (02:28):
He wanted to try to get that.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
No, he couldn't go.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
If he could have gone, he would have gone, right.
Speaker 6 (02:33):
John would say, this is his third lost fumble this year.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Would you know?
Speaker 4 (02:39):
You as a coach, what can you say then about that?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
You know, I just continue to coach it. You know,
that's all you really can do. It's it's gonna be
It's gonna be important. I mean, that's the most important
thing for all the guys. And uh, nobody knows that.
I mean, Zay knows it, so you know he'll be
he'll be the most distraught guy about it. But that
being said, you gotta protect the football. We all got
to protect for football. That's as a lesson that has
to be understood if you want to play winning football.
(03:03):
It's been that way. You know, it's been that way
for a long time in football. It's been that way
for a long time here, and we have not done
a good enough job of that on offense this year.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
John, You've been up on that.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
I mean, you guys are tied for the lead and
fumbles lost in the NFL this season. What's I mean
you've you've addressed it, and you've talked about coaching it.
Is there a common thread there that that you feel
like this is why this has continued to be a
problem for your team.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
No, I mean it's you can't fumble the ball. You
got to protect the football. You know, it's different, different circumstances.
It's balls too loose, you don't see it coming. The
ball's got to be protected all the time. And that's
what's coached. So as a player, you know, you just
got to do it. You just got to get it done.
And if you don't get it done, then you become
you become known as a fumbler. And that's what the
defenses point to, you know, and they come after it.
(03:49):
So we do the same thing on defense. So it's
just a fact. Fact of Football, John you last week,
the week before you, you and the players are very
clear that we control our deaths.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
If we went out we win. That's no longer the case.
So what's your message to the team.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I expect our team to keep fighting, try to win
two games. You know, that's what I expect our team
to do. I know they will. I know we'll come
out fighting because that's what we've done all year. You know,
we've been a tough been tough circumstances all year. It's
been a grind for sure. And and you know I've
we've come out and fought every single game. We haven't
played well every single game. The worst game was a
Thanksgiving game, That's what we played poorly. But we've we've
(04:27):
played pretty darn well every single game. But we haven't
done the things you need to do to win all
these games in a row. And that's you don't turn
the ball over too many penalties in certain situations and
give up a couple of big plays in passing. And
I gotta give them credit. I mean, some of those
passes were hotly contested, tight throws under pressure, So you've
got to give them credit for making those plays in
those situations. But that's what you have to do, the
(04:51):
things that that are required to win, to win a
lot of games, and we haven't done that.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Enough on it.
Speaker 8 (05:00):
Andrew's a hook and ladder of something.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I would say he's acting on instinct. Probably you have
to ask him.
Speaker 9 (05:07):
I means today that whether it's fumbles, whatever the case is,
is that just kind of a summation of the problems
you guys have had kind of consistently.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
I don't know about that. I have to think about that,
whether it's a summation of it or not. But it's
a big part of it for sure.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
I mean, home field advantage is sort of built into
the culture of the team, built in the culture of
your tenure here. How disappointed is it to have six losses.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
At home this year?
Speaker 2 (05:33):
You gotta play winning FOOTBA at home if you want
to win at home. You know we haven't done now
We've had we had two or three of those games
where we were, you know, behind the eight ball. So
I'll acknowledge that for sure. But you gotta play winning
football whether you're at home or on the road, it
really doesn't matter. That's what you have to do, and
we haven't done it enough.
Speaker 6 (05:49):
Tom when you talk about not doing the things that
you need to do to secure these games. What was
said in the locker room on that On that point,
I mean we're Are they angry or are they frustrated?
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Do they feel they're almost out chances?
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I don't you talking about after the game. Everybody's disappointed.
You know, everybody's hurt because it because he works so hard.
I mean, it's a team that fights, you know, his
team that works, it's team that prepares. His team is confident,
team that wants to do well. Got a bunch of
you know, really strong men in there that do that,
and so you know, it's disappointing to them. They're more
(06:22):
disappointed than anybody. All of us are. That's how it is.
So we're all disappointed. But that doesn't mean you know,
it just means you got to come back. You gotta
find you don't get what you want all the time
in life, even if you work for it, but you
got to earn it. You know, you got to earn
it by doing the things that are required, and we
have not done a good enough job of that.
Speaker 10 (06:40):
John's just to clarify, you label Lamar's injuries that bruise
and any word on any description of you.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
I really don't have a word on it now.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
It's early, you know, I have any anything definitive from
the trainers or doctors yet.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
I don't know. Probably no more tomorrow the next day. O.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Great, great, great.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
A big story of this game was the injury to
quarterback Lamar Jackson. He left the game in the first
half with the back injury and was not able to
come back and play. He talked with the media after
the game.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Just the knee in the back that closed over.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Yeah, my knees, my knees, my less felt great tonight. Uh,
this got kneed in the back in the red zone.
Just couldn't finish the game. I will try and go
toward all the shop and stuff like that, but it
still ain't no better. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (07:32):
Is this just been had a terrible season and that
sounds on the sense of it feels like this stuff
keeps happening too.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, man, it's byes bro. I can't.
I can't control that though, Like I'm on the ground,
like I'm down. I gave myself far as I got
k needed in the back. But yeah, for the most part,
you can say that because getting injured and then we
fighting for a chance to make the playoffs. I can't
finish the game with my guys bys.
Speaker 10 (08:00):
Was there any point yet at halftime or on the
sideline where you try to throw a ball you know.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Which you two thinks?
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Yeah, I was in here, tryna throw it?
Speaker 11 (08:05):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (08:05):
When I train his cav I col like, sh it
just hurt?
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Or do it aggregate anything that's pre existing?
Speaker 3 (08:12):
You know?
Speaker 4 (08:12):
I mean no, m m.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
They didn't do anything or nothing.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
Do you do you think they'll be able to play
at all this this Saturday?
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Yeah, that's the goal, Like we don't do Look uh
what uh cat skin or whatever tomorrow and then see
what it shows.
Speaker 12 (08:29):
Wonder when how it No why you touched on it?
Speaker 7 (08:32):
But what's the.
Speaker 13 (08:32):
Ovations for you?
Speaker 5 (08:33):
And you know you wanna be out there to play, especially.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Like I'm I'm I'm mad man, cause like I felt
like the game was in our favor. You know, you
don't get me wrong. When my brother got out there
still was in our favor, you know, But I don't know.
I can't control that, man. I wish I could. Wow,
I can't control it.
Speaker 9 (08:53):
Why you just have frustrating all the injuries and you know,
a whole season and then to lose a game where
you guys have lost the games we can.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Kind of yeah, yeah, the injuries at the beginning of
the season. You know what else? I was past that,
you know, and past that. Uh, like I said, we
was fighting for CAUSI were still fighting for position, you know,
to make the playoffs. And I felt great tonight, like
I said, unfortunately that happened.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Oh what she didn't do help help? How much pain
are you in right now?
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Pain? Hurt?
Speaker 4 (09:25):
You know, shit hurt? What?
Speaker 14 (09:30):
Just to know that your guys playoff destiny is no
longer ranking in your control.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
M I lead that up to God, you know who
can't All we can do is control what we can't control,
you know. Just watch him hit the practice and work
and there and just went o, that's it.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Lamar was replaced by Tyler Huntley in the lineup. And
here's what Tyler Huntley had to say after the loss.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
How and were you were you surprised too?
Speaker 15 (10:02):
With them?
Speaker 4 (10:02):
The West c drives there canr wasn't in the in
the game in that hole.
Speaker 16 (10:06):
Man, It's so hard to you know, just like really
pay attention to who all in until you get in
a huddle and then you know, you get to play
call and then you just tryna put all the you
know together, But it's so hard to keep up with
who come in and who come out. You know, we
just get the p uh personnel and the play call
over the helmet, so that's how I call it in.
(10:29):
So it's so hard to even Uh.
Speaker 17 (10:32):
Obviously, you guys did have some short scoring drives when
you came in the game.
Speaker 18 (10:36):
What do you think was.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Going right and and what kind of went south as.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
The game went on.
Speaker 16 (10:41):
I mean, everything that we did and they would had success,
that was what was going right. And you know, you
know after that, we just felt a little short, you know,
just not couldn't just turn it over in the last
little bit or what we need to make the players
that we need to make uh or.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
You're you know you've known Lamar a long time. You
guys are close friends.
Speaker 9 (11:01):
What was the conversation like with him and and how
would you kind of describe his his m his mood
if not being.
Speaker 4 (11:07):
Able to come back in?
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Uh?
Speaker 16 (11:08):
Nah, he was bombed you know once once I seen
him on the sideline after a driver or too.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
You know, he was bombed.
Speaker 16 (11:14):
Couldn't barely move, you know, and uh, I j you
know it just uh you hate to see him like that,
but I know he he gonna be ready to get
back out there when he ready.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
And you know we gonna do everything to get him right.
Speaker 10 (11:29):
Ta Tyler, just in the third quarter before he was
officially rolled out, like, did you have like how how
were you kind of like operating in the huddle like
a h as a teammate, Like did you have optimism
that he could be back or.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Were you just focused?
Speaker 16 (11:40):
Nah, I'll just smoke it on the task at hand,
you know, trying to get him the score and you know,
get it rolling, Tyler.
Speaker 14 (11:49):
How's the fules to know that you guys play off
destiny is no longer.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
In your hands. I mean, I don't know how you
were run w s.
Speaker 16 (12:00):
We got a we got two games that we got
set in stone that we gotta go out and play in.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
That's all we could focus on, you know, I don't.
I don't know how else to answer that.
Speaker 10 (12:08):
One college I got I g uh Tyler after Derrick
Henry's uh touchdown and even the drive after where you
guys upon it, it looked like Lamar was engaging with
you on the sideline, just what were what was like the.
Speaker 16 (12:18):
Communication like, uh, well, I would just tell him what
I see and then what he saw, you know. W
you know, we just talk talk a little ball and
you know, and I'd just ask him couple of times
how he feeling, and you know that's it.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Kay, Thanks Charles. You know.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
We also heard from safety Kyle Hamilton.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
K Yeah, we we don't know about more status for
the next.
Speaker 6 (12:43):
Two games, but if he's unable to play, how challenging
would it be to to win to win the next
two game without one one?
Speaker 13 (12:52):
I mean, it'd be a.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
Challenge.
Speaker 13 (12:55):
I mean, you're talking about losing a guy who's multi
time MVP and one the best in the league, says before.
But I mean I've got the utmost confidence in Snoop
and Coop. And you know, we beat a Bears team
with Snoop at the home and see what kind of
team they are now. So I mean we're capable of
doing it no matter who's out there, but obviously love
(13:16):
to have eight out there, but who is out there,
we're confident in them.
Speaker 11 (13:19):
Oh do you feel like in many ways it's kind
of games it was a microcosm of your struggles lately
where offenses turn the ball over, defense can't get key
stop late.
Speaker 18 (13:30):
In the game.
Speaker 13 (13:31):
Yeah, I mean it's been a theme, m I mean
for the past couple of years. Honestly, it's frustrating at
this point to keep having the same conversations with you guys.
I'm sure it's frustrating on your end. Keep asking these questions.
It's redundant and no excuses at this point. I mean said,
(13:52):
we had six losses at home? Is that right? Yeah,
that's that's terrible, like or fans whoever's supporting us coming
out of these games. It's not like the attendance has
dropped off at all, Like there's people still have these
games on a Sunday night, cold outside, stadium has packed out.
People got Worke tomorrow and we're not making it worth
(14:13):
their while at the end of the day. So that's
on us to right that wrong. But yeah, we still
got a chance to get in the dance. So got
to assess the opportunities we have going forward and do
we can to getting said dance.
Speaker 6 (14:30):
See, I mean Drake Drake may made a lot of
great throws, but I mean from your perspective, why was
he able to move them so relentlessly in those last.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Few Yeah, I think.
Speaker 13 (14:43):
It's a it's a different game being played kind of
when you're down like that. As the offense, they hadn't
been able to run the ball at all. It's been
kind of theme for us as a defense these past
few weeks and ladder the latter half of the season.
I think we've been a pretty stout run defense. So
teams become one dimensional, and that dimension of defending a
(15:03):
pass is you know, there's so much obviously very talented
and got talented dudes on the outside. Oh see he
calls a good game, but so many different things they
can do throughout it. A passing attack. Check the ball
down for four yards, that's a positive run. If you
just run the ball, get a seven yard game on
(15:26):
second and nine. That was third and two and pretty
much whole playbooks up and plus territory Like it's a
you're defending a lot more grass when it becomes a
one dimensional game like that, But it also gives us
opportunities to get the ball off them and pick the
ball off and sack the quarterback and shout out our Darius,
you gotta sack fumbled a night, And yeah, it's a
(15:46):
it's a double edged sword. Not at the end of
the day, but you know, we just gotta finish games.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
On the on the.
Speaker 17 (15:51):
Rushing touchdown at the end by the Patriots, it looked
like on the video and maybe guys were kind of
going back and forth or trying to figure something out
with the snap with there any miscommunection on.
Speaker 13 (16:00):
That play that led to that Sport was touched on
the the last time last had touchdown of the the
rush the where Parlay kind of.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
Got blocked off.
Speaker 13 (16:09):
I I actually don't know what I have to watch
the film to see exactly what happened. I think we
were just communicating how we would normally talking about who's
got what and preasing out. But obviously something went wrong,
so must look at on the film very you.
Speaker 17 (16:25):
Know, close player looked like our Darius tried to make
a play on a of the pul ball that Digs
converted and and kind of ran after the catch and
ar Darius looked like he was trying to jump the
route there.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
I mean, I feel like that was sort of the
pivotal play of that particular drive.
Speaker 13 (16:40):
Probably a pivotal play was a touchdown, But I mean
there's a lot of pivotal plays. I'm I think there
was a few third downs on that drive. You know,
even I don't know that the whole drive was just
it felt like we were just taking on water, taking
on water, and then finally the damn broke. And that's
(17:02):
nobody It's s specific. It's fault that I can think
of right now. It's just just gotta play better defense.
But yeah, I mean, our dads just trying to make
a play. He's a playmaker. It's just him pl being
a football player.
Speaker 10 (17:16):
Uh, how you opt up on the uh injury or
your ankle was heavily taped and uh after the two
point conversion specifically, it looked like you were just a
little slow to get to the side. Like, can you
kind of describe what you were going through a physically.
Speaker 13 (17:28):
Incident, Yeah, I mean, ankle good enough to play. It's
week sixteen. I mean everybody's got something, so you know,
I'm not alone in that category. I think just the
fact that it happened later in the week was probably
a little bit more of a hurdle.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
But you know, I'm I'm alive.
Speaker 14 (17:49):
You know, when Wilmar was going through a tough stretch,
you said, you know, ep PL brawn A has off days,
and then to see him bounce back last week and
have a a great start tonight, only to be bounced
out of a game.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
By older to injury. Just what's it like to kind
of see that.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
That luck of following.
Speaker 13 (18:05):
Yeah, I mean it's it's a physical game, and obviously
he's gonna put his body on the line for us
and has done so ever since I've been here, ever
since he's since he's been here. You don't get all
the rushing accolades that he's had without taking some hits.
And he's took some hits for this organization and for
some wins, and we all appreciate that because he plays
(18:29):
to the best of his abilities too, to the highest
extent that he can play. It just plays really hard
and sucks to see that happened somebody like that. Yeah,
I mean, injury is part of the game, and snooping
in there. I thought he did a great job, kind
of a seamless transition from that point. It's I think
it's rare around the league that a backup quarterback comes
(18:50):
in and can run the offense that well.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Zone who had a big day was running back Derek Henery,
He had one hundred and twenty eight yards and a
pair of touchdowns on the ground. He talked about the
loss and how the Ravens handled this situation that that.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
Second last drive.
Speaker 12 (19:08):
Were you surprised that you were not in the game
for the.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Offense given that you just scored a touchdown?
Speaker 11 (19:14):
I mean no, we's been doing a rotation for you
know how many weeks. You know, Keeping doing a great job,
and you know, in in the run game, and you know,
we both didn't end up doing the best we can
and we got a lot of good players, so you know,
everybody has to you know, go, we get they touches
and get opportunities, so and keeping deserve it is deserving
(19:34):
of it didn't work out that way, but you know,
and an opportunity to look s look forward next week.
It's been definitely hurts they say at home again come
up short. Just wasn't good enough today? Uh that being said,
I mean is this a game? I mean closing out
with the lead like that? Is that a situation where
you know, if all things were.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
What you would like the ball you would like to
be involved.
Speaker 11 (19:57):
I mean, any player would just like to be able
to have the balls in hands make players for the team,
you know, just to give our s such a chance
to to go win. I think any players on have
that same response. If you're a competitor, you and you
love the game, and I definitely love the game, but
just didn't go that go down way tonight.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
And you know they they were the better team and
that's that's where they won.
Speaker 11 (20:18):
But like I said, you know, we got two more games,
look forward to hopefully football guards bless us. But you know,
as that's just t to to see on on another
day and see see how that plays out. But just
looking forward to the next too, and be the best
player I can to I us winning next year.
Speaker 14 (20:34):
So Derek, how does that work with the rotations?
Speaker 17 (20:37):
Did they come to your tell you that's is keeping
a series or you're you're sitting now or d h
Who who makes that call and who tells you?
Speaker 11 (20:44):
I mean, that's just something that you know we've been
doing in the last couple of weeks and you know
it's been a a good flow. So you know, he
goes a series, I'll go to series. I mean, I
don't think it's a big be a big deal. If
he won the game, wouldn't be no questions about it,
cause you know, but I'll stand. You know, when you lose,
you know, everybody's gonna f wanna know or try to
(21:05):
analyze every single situation. But just something we been doing.
We did it last weekend. Everything was fine, we won.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
So there what.
Speaker 9 (21:12):
Happened in the bum the first.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
Hailf you jeinx me?
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Yeah, uh uh yeah.
Speaker 11 (21:16):
Earlier this week uspres for I thought, I'm like, man,
even jenx me. But yeah, just really embarrassing. You know,
I feel like some of that my melon that we
had uh in that drive, like we woulda we would
have scored, I would gave us seven. So I took
seven points away and I feel like I took a
little bit, a little little bit my meling from the
team and the defense and they went out along driving
(21:38):
and scored and just been disappointing, you know, coming out
this whole year kind of you kind of work hard
to be the best player you can be consistent and
have the most success, and sometimes you don't go go
that way, which is upsetting. But like I said, i'm'a
keep working and try to do my best for this team.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
But yeah, this this year's kinda been frustrating.
Speaker 11 (21:57):
Not as a team, but like for me, for for
me as far as my play and just uh the mistakes,
you know that it's it costs cost the team.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Derek.
Speaker 6 (22:05):
We we just we just talked to Lamar and I
we saw the anguish in his face as he was
talking about, you know, getting hurt again and trying trying
to get out there. I mean, has that just been
kind of an awful thing for you guys to watch
sort sort of seeing him yet derailed again and again
by the by by these things.
Speaker 11 (22:19):
Yeah, you never wanna see the QB leader of the team,
best player on the team go down like that.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
And we want him out there.
Speaker 11 (22:25):
We wanna be healthy, healthy and uh you know we
want 'em out there so we can had the best
chance to win. You know, it's a game of injuries,
you know that stuff. A lot of that happens. But
you know, Lamar, he's a he's a competitor and he's
he's a fighter, so I know he wanted to be
out there, but circumstances didn't go that way today.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
If we can get him back, it's up the week. Derek.
Speaker 5 (22:44):
When you signed an extension of this team in the offseason,
I mean, what what what were your expectations for this year,
especially given how well this offense worked last year?
Speaker 4 (22:54):
Yeah, I think I think that's suff experience.
Speaker 11 (22:56):
So I think you know the expectations, you know what,
not really tryna have expectations. Just went to put the
work and then let our work show. You know, last
year it was uh a fun year, did some great things.
We came up short, and you know, this year, we
just had some unfortunate circumstances and things just had a
sen s swung our way, had some adversity, and it
(23:17):
just hasn't been good enough. Honestly as a whole. I
think everybody on the team, we say that we just
haven't been good enough. And you know, like I said,
we got two games left and we can end it
the way the way we wanna end it. But yeah,
this hasn't been good enough cause this simple put like.
Speaker 19 (23:33):
That there where where would you say the team is
side right now with the two games left, but also
things at being out of.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Your control when it comes to the playoffs.
Speaker 11 (23:41):
And right now you know this this suck that we
that we lost. But you know, do all on this
for a little bit and we go look forward to
Green Bay. Just get a quick tun around playing on
Saturday and going over there and you know look forward
to play. I mean we played this game cause we
we love it. So s everybody's gonn wanna come back
and be ready to go and prepare the right way.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
You sup, go out there and win again.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Next up, we heard from wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
Speaker 11 (24:13):
Do you have order?
Speaker 7 (24:13):
Just the emotions after a game like that where you
had the lead and then the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
Kind of just looks away. It sucks, you know, really
not a lot of words. It sucks.
Speaker 11 (24:25):
You know you up like that on the team. Uh,
you wanna be able to finish them, and we we didn't.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
So it hurts. Yeah, when you guys's fall back from
one of us starts, I guess where is emotions?
Speaker 18 (24:41):
That job?
Speaker 16 (24:42):
Playoffs are now out of your hands.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
You know.
Speaker 11 (24:47):
Uh, when we were one to five, we know that
we were still a good team and that we had
a chance. Uh we just you know, had a correct
some things and we did that. I got a little run,
but obviously this it's the NFL. Uh, you gotta bring
it every week. Uh you go up against you know,
teams like the Patriots, Well coach you know, uh execute
(25:09):
Uh you gotta you gotta execute better and uh, you know,
make more plays in them.
Speaker 10 (25:15):
What do you stay the dame you so well who
chased the States to heart?
Speaker 18 (25:19):
What did you state in him after a game?
Speaker 11 (25:20):
Like, uh, you know, Zay's Jay's been through a lot,
a lot of adversity throughout his life, so you know,
I always tell him, man, you know this, this is
a game at the end of the day. So just
notice you know you've overcame a lot in life, and
you know, just use us a motivation.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Man. Oh my more, who went down? How'd you feel
like the offense responded at with what's his ba?
Speaker 15 (25:41):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (25:41):
We went out made some plays.
Speaker 11 (25:42):
Uh obviously, Uh, you know we didn't do enough as
offense to finish. Uh, but you know still we thought
we had a chance. And Snoop has played a lot
of ball. Uh, but you know he's played a lot
for less organizations, So I think everybody believes and Snoop
when he gets in early with his seasons.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
So needing to execute.
Speaker 6 (26:01):
In critical situations from all your experience, Like is there
anything that he can do to learn shit performing clutch? Remember?
Speaker 11 (26:10):
Uh, you know I'm a player, not a coach, So
I go out and and do what's called to me
to don't complain. Uh, you know, I really don't asks
him any questions, so uh you know that that question is,
you know, something I really can't answer. But you know,
guys just you know, gotta gotta do their job.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Next, we heard from tight end Marc Andrews.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
The guy jumped off side on him.
Speaker 8 (26:39):
Yeah, it's one of those situations where, uh, the guy
across from me. I felt like he was you know,
far enough where uh I could point at draft didn't
see it the same way.
Speaker 19 (26:49):
What about the little Moar situation with him going out
and then the quarterback change.
Speaker 8 (26:54):
You know, it's it's tough, you know obviously, and we
love having eight, you know in there, and but Snoop
came in there and fought his butt off, and I
feel like really all around, all the guys fought their
butts off and just the little things weren't enough.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
What how do you got to just process all this that,
the frustration and tough loss, all of it.
Speaker 8 (27:14):
It's tough loss, like you said, it's a you know
right now, it's kind of you know, for us, it's
just about taking care of the things that we can
take care of. It and that's all of us, every every
single of us, and we didn't do a good jobs
job of that. You know, I think we had some
control of this game, and we didn't finish.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Except we heard from wide receiver z A. Flowers.
Speaker 16 (27:38):
We got confidence and all of our quarterbacks. So we
believe in this and new because you know the game plan.
He studied it, he practiced, so you believe in her taking.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Just take me through that. Watch play the plumble.
Speaker 19 (27:49):
Just kind of way, try to make a play. I've
seen him overrunning, so I cut back, try to get up.
Heield get her first, but somebody behind pushed it out.
Speaker 8 (28:01):
At that point, it felt like the offense was moving
pretty well with what'smoop?
Speaker 4 (28:04):
Do you feel like you guys were h in the group?
Speaker 11 (28:08):
Uh?
Speaker 19 (28:08):
I felt like I was in a route the whole game,
So Freeman states here and that, So it does. What's
kind of the feeling now with uh thing?
Speaker 4 (28:18):
It's not being in.
Speaker 19 (28:19):
Your control, but you know still, you know, I mean,
you just gotta play ball now, finish, finish out the season.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
I fair a game like that.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
What what's the message in here?
Speaker 4 (28:30):
What is push Harbaugh saying to you guys?
Speaker 19 (28:32):
Basically? What I just said, finished out the season strong,
M you know, play allyball.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Actually heard from linebacker Rokwand Smith.
Speaker 18 (28:45):
We didn't play winning football. And I think that's what
it is when it comes down to the clutch moments.
Uh didn't play winning football. We all have to do
all one to eleven, including myself, play in and play out.
Speaker 19 (28:56):
As a as kind of a leader on this team,
just kind of what's the message to the guys now
games left not in control but still uh and out
a chance to to make it to the most season.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
Yeah, you just have to control what you can control.
Speaker 18 (29:07):
And that's just how you go about things, uh, as
a man and as a football player. So I think
it's just that simple, and it's just gonna be a
reflection of who you are day in and day out
when adversity hits, how do you respond?
Speaker 4 (29:20):
So I think that's like the main message.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
What was any white people were doing in the fourth
quarter to now that come back?
Speaker 4 (29:27):
I'm sorry?
Speaker 3 (29:27):
What were they able to do in the fourth quarter?
Are be able to outpack come back?
Speaker 18 (29:30):
And Uh? I think it's simple. They made they made
plays and we didn't. We didn't play winning football. We
didn't do all one and eleven each of each and
every one of us play in and play out.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
That's what didn't happen.
Speaker 18 (29:39):
So when that don't happen, you don't you don't, you
don't win any these type games.
Speaker 13 (29:44):
You feel like there was a mo macum triffitt end point.
Speaker 5 (29:47):
In the fourth quarter when they were.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
Starting to map back come back.
Speaker 18 (29:50):
Uh, I just take it one play at a time,
so and that's all I focus on. And that's all
you can't focus on. Flush it, something happens bad, flush
it on to the next play.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
So that's that's what it is. Mr La Marco's down.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
You know half times there anything on defense that change
for you guys, mentality wise.
Speaker 9 (30:08):
Or what anything said about it about that department, you.
Speaker 18 (30:11):
Know, not at all, Like that's that's Uh, that's the
offensive side.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Of the ball.
Speaker 18 (30:16):
And I played defense, so I'm all about like defense
and what we do and we didn't do a good
enough job and to get the job done. And uh yeah,
prayers for Lamar whatever's going on, not even sure. Uh
he's a warrior, so I know he'll do whatever it takes.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
Next. We heard from safety or Darius Washington.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Thoughts, you just have a reality game that different fun
of you guys in defense.
Speaker 12 (30:42):
I mean then the way we wanted to, you know
what I mean, Like the players gotta be made, you
know what I'm saying, Like, especially like the one I
had fourth down, you gotta go out there and make
that play. You know I'm saying. You can be having
a great game and you don't make the play that
I really wanted and everybody else will wanted that. You
don't mean that, you know what I mean? And they're
the chance of getting the playoffs, So there's still a chance,
but we.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
Wo, we need to win this one. Yet the fourth
down just kind of take me through that.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
What what happened?
Speaker 12 (31:05):
I mean, I knew it was coming, you know what
I'm saying. I knew that, uh I was coming. But
I probably could have had a little better leverage than that.
But for me, the main thing was getting out of
my break, you know what i mean. So coming out
of my break, I was stumbling a little bit, just
one of the two bad you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
I was sitting on it.
Speaker 12 (31:18):
But coming out of the break as was the biggest
part disappointing to me.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
What was in New England OFFENSEAI for three quarter.
Speaker 12 (31:25):
I mean, they pretty much doing the same thing they
were doing the whole game, you know what I'm saying,
like the the routs and everything. It wasn't really confusing
and everything like that. I mean, they just executed, you
know what I mean. They just made some good catches
for the MP and it was.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Kind of a looking of the team right now. But yeah,
though this is not Pusian, you gotta expect to be
able to see this stuff. I mean it we bomb
right now, you know what I mean.
Speaker 12 (31:46):
It's like that limits our chances of making the playoffs,
you know what I'm saying with that loss, But you know,
we got two games left and we gonna go out
there and compete and play hard.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Extra you heard from a center Tyler linderbomb.
Speaker 11 (32:00):
Your way back from how all you guys were in.
Speaker 7 (32:03):
The beginning of the season.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
Gus, can you speak about the emotions now?
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Frustrating? Is it? The seasons little out of your hands?
Speaker 7 (32:10):
Yeah, yeah, very frustrating. I think just you know, the
talent we have in not being able to translate that
onto the field and win football games is is frustrating.
But you know, we have the opportunity with two more
games left to double you know, finish out we want.
(32:33):
Although it's out of our control, you know, whether or
not we're in the playoffs, all we can do is
go out there and and play our best two football
games to finish off the year.
Speaker 13 (32:42):
More goes down, just kind of what did you think
about how you guys can out offensively with.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
With Snoopers first level drive? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (32:49):
Uh, you know Snoops the dog and we can definitely
win football games with Snoop And you know, got to
do our drive as old line block for him and
be able to run the football. Uh, that's a look
at the tape see how we did ultimately as a team.
But uh, yeah, just you know, this one's staying. It
definitely frustrating. You know, at the end of the day,
(33:12):
you know, Europe with a ten points in the in
the fourth quarter. We gotta find ways to win football games.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
You guys were able to get Derek Hunt moving the
ball aways? Did you guys do anything different? Why is
that working so pay?
Speaker 7 (33:23):
You got the best run back in the game. If
we can't move the ball with him, you know we're
in trouble.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (33:29):
You know, he's a he's a fun back to play for,
plays the game the right way physical, hard, Nos, and
he's a guy you want back there running football.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
Case he wasn't in there the least two drives, We're
pretty surprised or was that something that you noticed it?
Speaker 7 (33:45):
I I at the end of the day, it doesn't
matter who's in there. We gotta go out there and
and find ways to win football games.
Speaker 14 (33:51):
What's the bother of the.
Speaker 10 (33:52):
Team right now going into a short week against screen
band on Saturday night?
Speaker 7 (33:56):
Yeah, I mean, I just just lost a tough one,
this one' I would stick kinda sting, but you know,
you gotta turn around and find a way to uh
beat the Packers in a in a tough place to play.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Next we heard from cornerback long on hung Free.
Speaker 17 (34:12):
Any emotions of feeling going through that final drive and
the game ending the way.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
To on defense?
Speaker 15 (34:18):
Yeah yeah, we uh you don't wanna give up a touchdown?
Speaker 3 (34:25):
So yeah that it wasn't good.
Speaker 19 (34:30):
When Lamar went down.
Speaker 10 (34:31):
I guess what, what's the entire big defense on the sidelines.
Speaker 15 (34:39):
I don't know if anything, I don't know if anything changed.
I figured he wasn't coming back, but I don't think
anything nothing was really said. I I don't at least
I didn't hear anything said uh about you know.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
Quarterback change.
Speaker 15 (34:55):
We kind of felt like, you know, you know, obviously
Lamar's great player, but it didn't n uh, nothing really
changed for our mindset.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
What did you think England's offense table to deal with
the board?
Speaker 15 (35:10):
I mean, honestly, I mean, you know, I gave up
you know, an ex explosive you know, they were able
to get explosive throws, exposive passes. You know, giving up
the deep ball has been inconsistency of of mind kind
of this year, I would say, so, you know, but yeah,
(35:32):
explosive plays, you know, kind of what they'd done all year.
I think there was a number one passing a number
one passing team in the league, and seemed like the
you know, we had 'em bottled up pretty decent throughout
the game, but then fourth quarter, you know, we had
some lapses, some Drake Mays, Drake May made some great
throws and they were able to kind of come back.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
