fell to six and seven on Sunday, losing to the
Pittsburgh Steelers twenty seven to twenty two at M and
T Banks Stadium. After the game, we heard from head
coach John Hartball.

end four games last season. Is not over. Fighting for
the AFC North for the next four games. That's where
we stand. What questions you have, John?

On the replay, it looked like Isaiah had got in
two feet down.

What was the explanation that was given to you on
the sideline?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah, the explanation was a third foot didn't get down
before the ball came out. That's what they said.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Do you believe?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Uh, you know what. I believe a lot of things.
I think. I think the play with I think the
Aaron Rodgers play. I mean just talking my rules here.
It's not an officiating issue. It comes from New York.
But you know when you when you when you're making
a catch, you have to you have to you have
to survive the ground. You know he didn't survive the ground.
He's he's not down by contact. He he was catching
he was catching the ball on the way down with

another person, So you got to you gotta make a
catch there and survive the ground. I don't know why
it was ruled the way it was on that one.
So all those things, I'm sure we'll they'll explain to us.
But they had plenty of time to look at and
they're the ones who are the experts on the rules.
So that's how it works.

So how do only on the field goal that I
didn't see heading that contact? That's what I did not see.
So but you you need to have head and head
in that area of contact there, and it's gotta be forceful,
you know, contact not incident contact. But I didn't see
any contact myself.

John, How do you, you know, talk to the players
when you know in a game where you feel like.

Some calls might not go on your way?

How do you how do you address and kind of
take this loss and and and try to explain that
to you and your players?

Yeah, I mean the players. The players, don't you know,
they know they've been in the NFL. They know how
this works, you know. And I tell him basically, we're not.
We're not. We don't make an excuses. We don't pointing fingers.
That's not what we do here. We never have. We
walk out of here with our chest out and our
chin up, you know, and and we look to the
next game, you know, and we we are fighting still
for everything that we want to accomplish, you know. So
it's been it's tough. It's been a tough, challenging road

for sure, but uh that's where we're at, you know,
and we will keep fighting and and we believe we
can get it done.

On that last drive of the second quarter to you know,
almost the end of the game, is that kind of
Lamar that you're familiar with seeing and and sort of
the competitive play.

I thought Lamar played really well. Yeah, to your point, yes,
I mean I thought he played really well, and uh,
you know, it was it was uh, it was uh
what we've come to expect and how he plays. And
I just I always have so much respect for him
and the way he plays and the way he fights
and competes and and everything else out there. You know.
When the when the games start and the lights come on,

you know, there's there's nobody you'd rather have.

The touchdown they scored in the second half where Warren
just goes down the sideline. W whip broke down there.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah, that was uh, that was a lot of a
lot of breakdowns, you know, a lot of a lot
of uh missed uh, misunderstandings. I guess you'd say, guys, uh,
we didn't h quite. We weren't on We weren't on
the same page with the assignments and things like that,
and that was a that was one of our worst
worst plays, uh that we had.

They had struggled to kind of get some of those
splash plays down the field in the pass game they
play right after that early w Why do you think
they had success.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
In the well? I think they completed some some path
passes on the sideline, you know, some uh some uh
some press fades, you know, that's what they They completed 'em.
That was a three or four of 'em. And then
they had that play that was uh, you know, it
was just not well executed by us in terms of
the the pressure on that John Hill service, is the
Kid Mitchell age or well evaluate tomorrow we'll know more tomorrow. Uh,

that's one that's gonna have to It's gonna have to
take uh some some look at tomorrow, John.

A little last offensive drive looked like there was some
confusion between Lamar and the receivers. Obviously you'll have to
go back in the ok at it.

But what did you see.

From the field level?

Well, that's that's that's that's a good question. That's one
we're gonna have to go back and look at. Like,
I'm I'm sure, uh we've you know, I'm just walking
out of the locker room right here, So I haven't
had a chance to really break that down with with
the offensive coaches, but we had. We weren't as crisp
as we needed to be on that last two minute
drive for sure, in terms of in terms of that
part of it, we made plays. I mean we got
down the field twice, so I was happy with that,

But that part le the look out.

Did you consider taking time out on the second or
last drive?
Speaker 4 (04:27):
A third and two ends up.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
At the I did? I did? It was it was
one where you know, there was a chance it was
really chaotic, you know, and there was a chance that
we thought we were gonna be able to get lined
up right and it didn't work out that way. So
it was one of those ones you didn't know how
it was gonna go right there.

There were stretches where your offense got some things rolling.
There were stretches where your defense played well, but it
didn't seem like there were times where they both happened together.
Was that something that you felt and how frustrating was that?
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Uh? I think that's kind of football goes a lot
of times. You know, it's tough. It's tough to put
it all together and everybody be on the same page,
be everybody dominating your opponent all together at the same
time for a football game. I mean, that's a challenging thing.
Your opponents have saying that as well.
Speaker 11 (05:08):
Into kicking some field goals in the red zone.

Did you notice anything going wrong with the offense.

Once he got pushed to the end of those Yeah,
we'll look at it. You know, I'm not sure exactly
in terms of, uh, this that or the other with
any certain plays, but we'd like love to score touchdowns there,
but our guys were fighting to do. It didn't work
out for.

So I thought it was in the end zone taking
steps like I just kept punching at the ball.

guys go from? I think it's a likely touchdown to
obviously the drive continues, but it ends up being a
turnover downs.

just tried to do what we could. They drive the
ball down the field and put points on the board,
probably like one time out on the clock.

It's a surprise me at this point, the like gives
like get from lot of people, gotta get on the
same page. You gotta get doing r in the same direction.
But it's December and with all the talent and some
of the guys back, is it surprising year that that's
the case.

Yeah, yeah, I can say that cause you know, we
got no addition, We got d hot guys like that
on our team, and y uh think he came over
here for us to be in this situation. You know
we wen you known't for winning, man, but feel like
it's just an adversity game.

Man right here, like t this point of the season, you know,
we gotta just keep fighting and we just keep God.

the coach for few minutes over network, what was the
message there?

Uh, you know it just we still got we still
got four games. Basically were saying, you know, just stay
locked in.

With another divisional maunch up set up for next week
in Cincinnati with the Bengals, that mindset going into their mentality.

S just like it was this game, but uh gotta
be better, you know, go into those guys' territory. We
just gotta lock in, man, four quarters each and every play.

What did you see on the uh turnovers to your cousin.
Speaker 12 (07:57):
Uh, tryna make something happen. It was like third down,
Uh try to throw it to Rasime, But I threw
it to to like he just made.

Mark, could you describe your feeling when you see the
catch made you got to go ahead touchdown and then

About the UH the play that Aaron Rodgers was credited
with a completion, We thought it was a Buchanan fumble
slash interception.

Yeah, I wasn't. I don't make those calls. More was
out there for the interception, but from the looks of it,
I thought Teddy had it, and it was clear the
ref made it on the field he saw it as
well then overturned it. So not sure. That's not my job.
My job is to just go out and play my
brand and football.

Just how frustrating is it when there are these moments
that could have been a turnover, could have been a touchdown,
and then the game ends as it does.

I think it's the game of football, and I think
it's the game of life as well, and you just
have to play the cards your dealt, play the hand
your dealt, and go forward every time.

that's what it is, So each and every individual just

leading to some of their success and explosives and how
did you guys?

Absolutely, obviously he's been doing it for a long time
and DK's good receiving this league and thought there was
some really good balls out there. Got made some really
good catches and some perfect placements on the ball. So
I think that's it was just hats off to Uh.
Those guys were making those completions and it was what
it was. Just gotta move on next play real QUNS
teams down.

you feel are the Ravens playoff chances straight?

learning from the mistakes from this game and playing Cincinnati
next week. So it's about correcting the mistakes, not having

just one game at a time and I think we
just got to go take care of business, uh and Cincinnati,

is still something you guys can unlock as a team
where the offensive the d belts are playing well at
the same time, and you guys are playing in and
kind kind of what you thought you would be coming
into the year. Do you think that's still there for

Absolutely when to turn them like yeah, absolutely, uh without
a doubt.

And it's more about going out and doing that.

It's actually about being about it and like letting your
play speak for you.

about playing doing your one to eleven and ten's doing

I thought so, but it's not me too. Made the

What are the conversations like after that gets overturned? And
it's kind of a quick change for you guys. You
think that you're done and then you're back on the field.

You know, just let it slip away. You know you
kind of uh D disappointed, especially right now in the
game is in it, so it's disappointed we let this
one slip away, and you know we had the opportunity.
We just didn't capitalize on it. And like I said,
I need to be better so on to focus on myself.

that you wanna get back of the steels down with

Yeah, I really I really ain't tryna think about the

just trying to focus on watching film, figure out how
I can do and do better, finds the season strong
and then see where we land. You know, it's it's

but I was just trying to focus on this game
and learn from it then move to the next one.

Yeah, I know that hurts, you know, you know, sposed
to defending your home turf and definitely should have a
better record at home. But you know, ain that's that
hasn't been the case for us. But I don't mean
we don't give up or you know, still play with
confidence and leaving each other and go out there and

do what we need to do to give ourselves a chance.
But yeah, definitely things for sure.

where maybe things should have been called.

Uh? I think we're doing a lot of good things,
you know, I think, uh, there are things that definitely
need to get fixed, especially you know, to play at
the the level that we need to play out to
to get to our goal. But I do think we're
doing a lot of good things out there. We're playing physical,
given effort.

Yeah, Ron, are you surprised that as a team at
with uh four games left you you guys are still
searching for that consistency that you want to have and
that you're you that you usually do have this.

definitely a little bit, but you know, you have full
faith and trust that we're gonna get it. And you know,
I've played with these guys for years and I know
what they're k capable of and uh, what we can
do together, if we if we focus on what we need.

What happened from your perspective on those first few plays.

Uh, you know, I think it's always hard in those
l those obvious pass situations where the defense you know,
doesn't really have to do with uh, not knowing what
type of play it's gonna be. So just making sure
you know you're on your p's and q's and techniques
right and you know in those in those moments.

What was the explanation that was given to you on
the sideline?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah, the explanation was a third foot didn't get down
before the ball came out. That's what they said.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Do you believe?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Uh, you know what. I believe a lot of things.
I think. I think the play with I think the
Aaron Rodgers play. I mean just talking my rules here.
It's not an officiating issue. It comes from New York.
But you know when you when you when you're making
a catch, you have to you have to you have
to survive the ground. You know he didn't survive the ground.
He's he's not down by contact. He he was catching
he was catching the ball on the way down with

another person, So you got to you gotta make a
catch there and survive the ground. I don't know why
it was ruled the way it was on that one.
So all those things, I'm sure we'll they'll explain to us.
But they had plenty of time to look at and
they're the ones who are the experts on the rules.
So that's how it works.

How was the Rogers play that he was just down
with the possession of the book?
Speaker 5 (01:24):
John, What did you see on the Travis Jones?

So how do only on the field goal that I
didn't see heading that contact? That's what I did not see.
So but you you need to have head and head
in that area of contact there, and it's gotta be forceful,
you know, contact not incident contact. But I didn't see
any contact myself.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
John, How do you, you know, talk to the players
when you know in a game where you feel like.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Some calls might not go on your way?
Speaker 6 (01:51):
How do you how do you address and kind of
take this loss and and and try to explain that
to you and your players?
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yeah, I mean the players. The players, don't you know,
they know they've been in the NFL. They know how
this works, you know. And I tell him basically, we're not.
We're not. We don't make an excuses. We don't pointing fingers.
That's not what we do here. We never have. We
walk out of here with our chest out and our
chin up, you know, and and we look to the
next game, you know, and we we are fighting still
for everything that we want to accomplish, you know. So
it's been it's tough. It's been a tough, challenging road
(02:18):
for sure, but uh that's where we're at, you know,
and we will keep fighting and and we believe we
can get it done.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
On that last drive of the second quarter to you know,
almost the end of the game, is that kind of
Lamar that you're familiar with seeing and and sort of
the competitive play.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
I thought Lamar played really well. Yeah, to your point, yes,
I mean I thought he played really well, and uh,
you know, it was it was uh, it was uh
what we've come to expect and how he plays. And
I just I always have so much respect for him
and the way he plays and the way he fights
and competes and and everything else out there. You know.
When the when the games start and the lights come on,
(02:58):
you know, there's there's nobody you'd rather have.
Speaker 7 (03:00):
The touchdown they scored in the second half where Warren
just goes down the sideline. W whip broke down there.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah, that was uh, that was a lot of a
lot of breakdowns, you know, a lot of a lot
of uh missed uh, misunderstandings. I guess you'd say, guys, uh,
we didn't h quite. We weren't on We weren't on
the same page with the assignments and things like that,
and that was a that was one of our worst
worst plays, uh that we had.
Speaker 8 (03:19):

They had struggled to kind of get some of those
splash plays down the field in the pass game they
play right after that early w Why do you think
they had success.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
In the well? I think they completed some some path
passes on the sideline, you know, some uh some uh
some press fades, you know, that's what they They completed 'em.
That was a three or four of 'em. And then
they had that play that was uh, you know, it
was just not well executed by us in terms of
the the pressure on that John Hill service, is the
Kid Mitchell age or well evaluate tomorrow we'll know more tomorrow. Uh,
(03:49):
that's one that's gonna have to It's gonna have to
take uh some some look at tomorrow, John.
Speaker 10 (03:54):
A little last offensive drive looked like there was some
confusion between Lamar and the receivers. Obviously you'll have to
go back in the ok at it.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
But what did you see.
Speaker 10 (04:01):
From the field level?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Well, that's that's that's that's a good question. That's one
we're gonna have to go back and look at. Like,
I'm I'm sure, uh we've you know, I'm just walking
out of the locker room right here, So I haven't
had a chance to really break that down with with
the offensive coaches, but we had. We weren't as crisp
as we needed to be on that last two minute
drive for sure, in terms of in terms of that
part of it, we made plays. I mean we got
down the field twice, so I was happy with that,
(04:22):
But that part le the look out.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Did you consider taking time out on the second or
last drive?
Speaker 4 (04:27):
A third and two ends up.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
At the I did? I did? It was it was
one where you know, there was a chance it was
really chaotic, you know, and there was a chance that
we thought we were gonna be able to get lined
up right and it didn't work out that way. So
it was one of those ones you didn't know how
it was gonna go right there.
Speaker 10 (04:41):
There were stretches where your offense got some things rolling.
There were stretches where your defense played well, but it
didn't seem like there were times where they both happened together.
Was that something that you felt and how frustrating was that?
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Uh? I think that's kind of football goes a lot
of times. You know, it's tough. It's tough to put
it all together and everybody be on the same page,
be everybody dominating your opponent all together at the same
time for a football game. I mean, that's a challenging thing.
Your opponents have saying that as well.
Speaker 11 (05:08):
Into kicking some field goals in the red zone.
Speaker 10 (05:11):
Did you notice anything going wrong with the offense.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Once he got pushed to the end of those Yeah,
we'll look at it. You know, I'm not sure exactly
in terms of, uh, this that or the other with
any certain plays, but we'd like love to score touchdowns there,
but our guys were fighting to do. It didn't work
out for.

Us, except we heard from quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Touchdown I believe.

So I thought it was in the end zone taking
steps like I just kept punching at the ball.

So like I see emotionally where you where do you
guys go from? I think it's a likely touchdown to
obviously the drive continues, but it ends up being a
turnover downs.

You know, I I believe we probably had like one
time out, I defin time to get back out on
the field and stop those guys. You know, we wanted
to be a touchdown, but unfortunately it wasn't, So we
just tried to do what we could. They drive the

probably like one time out on the clock.

It's a surprise me at this point, the like gives
like get from lot of people, gotta get on the
same page. You gotta get doing r in the same direction.
But it's December and with all the talent and some
of the guys back, is it surprising year that that's
the case.

Yeah, yeah, I can say that cause you know, we
got no addition, We got d hot guys like that
on our team, and y uh think he came over
here for us to be in this situation. You know
we wen you known't for winning, man, but feel like
it's just an adversity game.

Man right here, like t this point of the season, you know,
we gotta just keep fighting and we just keep God.

got four games. Basically were saying, you know, just stay
locked in.

in Cincinnati with the Bengals, that mindset going into their mentality.

S just like it was this game, but uh gotta
be better, you know, go into those guys' territory. We
just gotta lock in, man, four quarters each and every play.

What did you see on the uh turnovers to your cousin.

Uh, tryna make something happen. It was like third down,
Uh try to throw it to Rasime, But I threw

with a completion, We thought it was a Buchanan fumble
slash interception.

Yeah, I wasn't. I don't make those calls. More was
out there for the interception, but from the looks of it,
I thought Teddy had it, and it was clear the
ref made it on the field he saw it as
well then overturned it. So not sure. That's not my job.
My job is to just go out and play my
brand and football.

Just how frustrating is it when there are these moments
that could have been a turnover, could have been a touchdown,
and then the game ends as it does.

I think it's the game of football, and I think
it's the game of life as well, and you just
have to play the cards your dealt, play the hand
your dealt, and go forward every time.

give us a better chance to win in the run
game and doing my job. But we're just to play

I thought so, but it's not me too. Made the

What are the conversations like after that gets overturned? And
it's kind of a quick change for you guys. You
think that you're done and then you're back on the field.

You know, just let it slip away. You know you
kind of uh D disappointed, especially right now in the
game is in it, so it's disappointed we let this
one slip away, and you know we had the opportunity.
We just didn't capitalize on it. And like I said,
I need to be better so on to focus on myself.

hasn't been the case for us. But I don't mean
we don't give up or you know, still play with
confidence and leaving each other and go out there and

Is slow start for you guys, but then you know,
at that started in that first or that last drive
the second quarter, it seemed like you guys had a
rhythm that you haven't had for a few weeks.
Speaker 11 (19:31):
What was different this week that that led to better execution?
Uh saying consistent with the run game? Uh, being physical
up front?
Speaker 13 (19:40):
Uh?
Speaker 11 (19:40):
Yeah, I think, you know, just making sure we're holding
the lines, uh, creating the line of scrimmage, uh, moving
the guys off the ball, and I s think we
you know, we did that for the most part during
the whole game.
Speaker 6 (19:51):
Does that give you confidence even though you guys bust
this game and and have a you know, a hill
climb to get.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
To the top of the AFC North.
Speaker 11 (19:57):
I mean, sure, it gives you confidence, but uh, we
didn't come out with the result that we wanted even
with uh, you know how it felt playing, so uh,
there's things I need to get fixed and we need
to fix 'em.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Guys, guys have said again and again that everything is
still in front of you.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
Do you only four games up?
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Do you do you still feel that you feel like
you can get to the be the team that you
guys thought you could be.
Speaker 11 (20:18):
Yeah, of course I. I still have a ton of
belief and confidence in us, and uh, we just need
to focus on our next tacit hand and you know
that's being the Bengals and just put everything you know
forward for that game.
Speaker 10 (20:29):
Ronnie, do you know what happened on the third and
two where you guys got flagged?
Speaker 4 (20:33):
I think for a formation calling. You lost a couple
of yards.
Speaker 11 (20:35):
It feels like there was some confusion in the back Yeah,
I I really don't know. I think they call it
like Andrew off the ball or and he's in a
three point stand, So I really don't understand.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
But yeah, not sure.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
The offensive line has taken a good bit of criticism
this year, pair or not. I mean, what's your perspective
on kind of where you guys scanned as a.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
Unit right now?
Speaker 11 (20:56):
Uh? I think we're doing a lot of good things,
you know, I think, uh, there are things that definitely
need to get fixed, especially you know, to play at
the the level that we need to play out to
to get to our goal. But I do think we're
doing a lot of good things out there. We're playing physical,
given effort.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
You know.
Speaker 9 (21:10):
Yeah, Ron, are you surprised that as a team at
with uh four games left you you guys are still
searching for that consistency that you want to have and
that you're you that you usually do have this.
Speaker 11 (21:20):
Time of the year. Yeah, you know, definitely, definitely are
definitely a little bit, but you know, you have full
faith and trust that we're gonna get it. And you know,
I've played with these guys for years and I know
what they're k capable of and uh, what we can
do together, if we if we focus on what we need.
Speaker 10 (21:35):
To do right on that last drive. Why couldn't you guys?
It seemed like it took a little bit to get going.
What happened from your perspective on those first few plays.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Of that last drive?
Speaker 11 (21:45):
Uh, you know, I think it's always hard in those
l those obvious pass situations where the defense you know,
doesn't really have to do with uh, not knowing what
type of play it's gonna be. So just making sure
you know you're on your p's and q's and techniques
right and you know in those in those moments.
