Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome too the Ravens Press Pass Podcast. The Ravens Fields,
who one in four on the season, losing to the
Houston Texas on Sunday forty four to ten at M
and T Banks Stadium. After the game, we heard from
head coach John Harbaugh.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
All Right, obviously got beat and every way you get beat.
Very disappointed with that. Did not expect to see that.
Thought we'd play a lot better than that based on
the way we practiced, and hats off to them. They
played a really good game, made a bunch of plays,
did a great job on first down. We did not
built a rhythm really throughout the game. We did not.
(00:36):
So just a complete disappointment, and we have to find
a way to turn it around, figure out who we
are this next week and then into the buy and
after the bye, we're gonna have more than half the
season left and we're gonna have to find ourselves. So
that's what our aim will be going forward. What questions
you have, John, when.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
You're you know, looking at the game, obviously, like I said, disappointment,
how much do you also kind of consider the guys
you didn't have here, and you know the guys.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
What the guys that out there on the field.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yeah, I'm not. You have to just look at the tape.
I don't think we played well.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
I thought we would play better, you know, I thought
we would tackle better. I thought we would just play
our run defense better than we did. Uh, it was
it was not up to standard. I mean, we have
good enough players out there to play a lot better
than we did. It's just disappointing.
Speaker 6 (01:21):
John, you mentioned you thought you practiced well this week.
When you don't see that reflected in the performance, what
do you do as a coaching staff then when it's
not aligning with practice to the game.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah, I mean you have to look at everything. I
think it starts with us as coaches. We've got to
figure out how to put the guys in best positions,
you know, to make plays and do things right. There
was a lot of things out there that weren't done correctly,
you know, so we've got to ask ourselves, how does
that not translate to the game number one? And then
what else can we do? You know, what else can
we come up with to figure out ways to challenge
people and gainst me yards and get some stops.
Speaker 7 (01:51):
John, did you did you feel there was a lack
of effort or believe for buying or however you would
want to put it.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
I didn't feel that. I didn't feel that all week
and didn't feel that in the game. I think the
effort was there. I just didn't think the execution was there.
Speaker 8 (02:05):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
We didn't do what we needed to do. And it's
gonna have to start with us as coaches and figure
it out.
Speaker 7 (02:09):
When you consider where you are a record wise, and
also the long list of injuries and guys you need
to get back, just.
Speaker 6 (02:15):
One of the more challenging times you can remember.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
In your career.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Yeah, we've had a lot of them, you know. I
think back to a lot of challenging times. I think
every year had challenges and if you look back at
some of those seasons, there were stretches, a none more
challenging than this right now. This is the one we're in,
you know, and this is tough. But like I told
the guys, this is this is this becomes a measuring stick,
you know, for all of us. So what ends up
happening is when you go through situations like this, and
(02:41):
everybody does in their life, and every team does in
their in their you know, their career, players and coaches
and everybody else. It it's how you handle it, you know.
And when people look back and say, hey, when things
were the toughest, when things looked look the worst, when
we were at our lowest point, how did how did
you handle? How will you be remembered for how you
(03:01):
handling it? And I'm looking for, you know, people to
come come out fighting and and uh and and give
their best, you know, in those kinds of situations. That's
what you have to do. When you do that, you
come out the other end.
Speaker 6 (03:12):
We have with a lengthy list of injuries.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
We know that, and and some you don't know who
will be back and win.
Speaker 9 (03:18):
But what do you see as maybe the most fixable,
the most quickly fixable things here?
Speaker 2 (03:24):
I think fundamental football is the most quickly fixable thing.
And I expect to see us play fundamentally sound football.
You know, I don't think we did that all the
time today. It wasn't it wasn't egregiously bad. But I
mean this run defense is just it's not okay, you know,
and that's not something that should happen. So we haven't
fixed that really all year yet. That's that's the number
one thing that's gotta go. We gotta start. We can't
(03:45):
be can't be letting them get the yards are getting
on first down. You can't play behind the sticks the
whole game, on both sides of the ball, and that's
been pretty much a theme throughout the course of the
whole season so far.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Do you have to consider changes on the defense with
Zach or the defensive staff.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yeah, you know, you got to do the most productive things,
and I do not think that that's the answer, you know.
So we got to go to work is what we
need to do. We need to we need to stick
together is what we need to do. And we need
to find out find ourselves, you know, and it has
to do with coaches and players together.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
I'm trying to tell me last week about offensive play calling,
how did you feel you guys.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Adjusted this week?
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, I mean I thought the play calling wasn't really
an issue. We tried to we tried to do the
things that were in the game plan and and we've
never really generated a rhythm. We had had to turnover
early when we had a little bit of a drive
going there. Petrie made a nice play on that flat route.
That low interception hurt us. So I didn't think that
was really the issue.
Speaker 10 (04:39):
John too that obviously you know Lamar's en upheel bad
or offensively, but just how disappointment was to not really
be able to get.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
The run games going at all.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Yeah, it was. It was disappointing, you know, and I
give them credit for stopping it. And we've got to
find a way, as kind of goes back to the
fundamental football party, we gotta go. We gotta find a
way to generate that that part of our game.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Except we hurt quarterback Cooper Rush.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
Cooper overall, how how do you think, you know, for
a first start for you went out.
Speaker 10 (05:07):
There not the reason we wanted, you know, want a
couple of drives in that first half back and you
know we're got some key stops on defense in the
red zone. You want to go be able to go
and capitalize on those. But you know, if I saw it,
well things like that, you know, you can look back
and it was good as a QB perspective, but yeah,
(05:31):
just all around, gotta be more timely in our execution.
Speaker 11 (05:34):
Gooper was kind of the message in the locker room
by the coaching staff after the game.
Speaker 10 (05:39):
Yeah, you know, it's uh, you know, no one wants
to be here, but it's where we're at, and you've
got to dig yourselves out of it. And we have
the guys that can do it, with the staff that
can do it with players, and uh, kind of like
Kyle said, you just have to go do it now,
like it's you know, it's kind of getting tired of
saying it every week now, right, and it's time to
get out of it.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Your first drive of the game, I think you went
five for five right down the field, got held to
the field well, but score not much else when right
the rest of the first half.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
From where you stood.
Speaker 6 (06:07):
What changed between the first drive and the rest.
Speaker 12 (06:09):
Of the half.
Speaker 10 (06:11):
We just got behind the sticks and an offense when
you bet behind the sticks. Things like that. It's hard,
especially versus good defense. Those guys fly around, they're well coached,
they played together for a while, they know what they're
doing and you get a sense of that, and so
if you hurt yourself, you're just making it easier for them.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
It could be hard.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
Do you know that guys are kind of shell shocked
right now.
Speaker 10 (06:30):
I mean, given what you all thought this team could
be and where you are right now, I wouldn't say
shell shocked now, but I mean it's a lot of
guys in there to play a lot of ball. You
know what the NFL is like, it's a week to
week deal, and you know, obviously no one's happy. But
like I said, just got time to dig ourselves out
(06:50):
of it.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Next up, we heard from vetteran outside linebacker Kyle Vannoy.
Speaker 6 (07:00):
Veteran later on this team and what's the message, especially
with young guys who maybe haven't been through something like
what your guys are going through right now.
Speaker 11 (07:09):
We gotta get our together and playing. Just being brutally honest,
like coaches can give us a place, but we gotta execute.
And doesn't matter who you are in there, do your job.
Coaches ask you to do something, do it me included,
(07:31):
what is keeping you.
Speaker 6 (07:32):
Guys back from practice execution?
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Two games? One more time?
Speaker 6 (07:41):
Keeping you guys back from practice execution to game execution.
Speaker 11 (07:47):
I mean, I'm I'm not I'm not sure. I don't
have many chances left, so I don't have time to
sit and wait, and we gotta figure it out.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
I've seen when you have the injury situation, you guys
had to going to scam.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
That's going No excuses, man, No excuses.
Speaker 11 (08:11):
I just watched the Niners have injuries and go out
there and play football, and no excuses for injuries. Professionals,
you get paid to play, so gotta play better.
Speaker 6 (08:25):
Kyle, effort wise, like when you're in the defensive puddle.
Speaker 11 (08:28):
Do you feel that, Yeah, I don't ever think effort
is an issue.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
I j I get a piggyback off. I know it's.
Speaker 11 (08:38):
A it's not a lame answer, but like it's fundamentals,
like we gotta get off blocks, we gotta tackle. I
know people don't want to hear that, but it's the truth.
That's what you gotta do better in our positions. You know,
you got young guys that they gotta grow up fast.
(09:01):
They don't have time to mature over time.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
We got it.
Speaker 11 (09:04):
We need them now to step up. And the older
guys need to step up to guys that have been
here for a couple of years.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Just got to play better top down and yeah, no excuses.
Speaker 10 (09:18):
Do you feel like the messages that are coming from
John or Zach or whoever are getting through in some way?
Speaker 11 (09:24):
You know, I'm that's a that's probably a question that's
above my pay grade. Probably I think that's a hardbond
Ze question. To be honest, like, I think their messaging
is fine, and we gotta be the group to take
that and go out and do the simple things right,
(09:46):
the fundamentals, easy basic stuff.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
This season has been tough, you know, throughout every week.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
It was tough last year too.
Speaker 6 (09:55):
Does it does it feel like today though this could
be a rock bottom point.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Yet or no? We're wanting for right and.
Speaker 11 (10:06):
I don't I I don't ever think it'll be a
rock bottom I mean it could if it keeps going
this way, but I just think we have good enough
players that all it takes is literally like.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
One play, one play to change it, one when.
Speaker 11 (10:23):
To change the momentum, and somebody has got to do
it and believe that they're gonna do it and you know,
continue to show up and work. I think as a group,
I will say, guys are working like we're not not working,
We're not not trying. We just gotta play better as
(10:44):
as simple as I can get and take accountability to
for not playing well.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
Yeah. Two more, do you.
Speaker 6 (10:53):
Do you think you're practicing well like it did? Do
you see any of these problems pop up at practice?
Speaker 11 (10:59):
I mean, I think that's a question you can always
say you can do better, right, Like I could practice.
Everyone could do their job a little bit better, right.
We just got to find those ways to do things better.
I think the practice what we're doing, you know, we
can all get better to hopefully get better for that
(11:21):
being in the game. I wouldn't sit here and say
we're we don't practice hard. I mean we practice just
as or harder than anybody in the league. It's just
not turning over to the football field. It's not a
production that the fans deserve and a production that we're
happy about.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
Clearly, I'm pissed you mentioned accountability.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
Have you seen enough of that from the team after
these losses?
Speaker 4 (11:45):
And what does that look like?
Speaker 11 (11:46):
That's a good question. I think I'll be able to
answer that better after the week. To be honest, to
just be blatant honest, I feel like there's acountability, but
we'll see.
Speaker 9 (12:03):
Football fans know that traditions matter. They're what in'spire us
to make our masa in tostitos the traditional way, starting
with whole corn kernels, no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives,
all to give you that perfect crunch. Discover your next
tradition this football season, head to the store, grab your
Tostedo's team bag and scan the code for a chance
to score an epic experience with the Baltimore Ravens Tostitos
tradition matters.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
In the locker room, we heard from a number of
key players on this team, including tight end Isaiah Likely.
Speaker 7 (12:29):
You know, just making Cooper you know, come to our
practice early in the game. He's just you know, he's
out there being here.
Speaker 13 (12:35):
Sorry if you've already answered this person, Isaiah'll kind of
just the mindset right now as the team is looking
at a one to four record.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Moving to La Man chatting me and want to know
next week.
Speaker 7 (12:44):
I mean, you know, obviously learn from the mistakes that
we did this week, understanding you know what we gotta
clean out, what we gotta get better. You know, have
a real heart to heart way everybody, even with yourself
in the mirror, and I feel like, you know, just
getting ready for the Rams could.
Speaker 6 (12:57):
Trouble talk about a lot of it comes out of
funny metal football.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
You got put from the emphasis on your on approving
in that area.
Speaker 7 (13:03):
Man, I mean like even with me, I mean just
starting off a drive, you know me, you know, fall
starting I mean not just a drive killer. You know,
starting to drive when if first and fifteen is harder
than person and ten. You know obviously, you know, trying
to get back into a game. So you know, I'll
just take a kind of bility in.
Speaker 5 (13:17):
That drive and drives.
Speaker 14 (13:18):
Uh for that.
Speaker 7 (13:19):
I mean it's just like you never wanna start behind
the six and in this game, you know when you're that.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
They were gonna be a tough to the point, and we.
Speaker 7 (13:25):
Knew that their defense was really good, so you just
you know, tryna stack plays on plays to get I
mean turn drives and touching you mess.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Enough hurt to heart?
Speaker 12 (13:32):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (13:33):
Like what does the sort of messaging sound like to
get to where you guys need to be moving forward?
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Man, I say, like, just.
Speaker 7 (13:41):
Be honest when you watch the film, I mean end
of the day, Like everybody understands like you're in the
NFL for a reason. I mean, you're one of the
best in the world at what you do. So if
you feel like you you played your best game and
you could look yourself in the mirror and go go,
you know, just sleep at night saying that, then get
ready for rams.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
If you didn't watch the film, learning what you gotta do.
Let's come back.
Speaker 12 (14:00):
It's a big hole.
Speaker 15 (14:01):
Do you think the buying is the way to get
out of it?
Speaker 4 (14:03):
That I block for sure.
Speaker 7 (14:05):
I mean that's just you know, coming back to leaders
and like.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
I said, everybody looking theirselves in the mirror. Everybody's you know, grown.
Speaker 7 (14:10):
Man, you know, end of the day when they get
on the field and between those white lines, the brother
next you trust you, So I trust you to do
your job and to get get a winning and want
the field at.
Speaker 12 (14:19):
What they at one or up bigger the channel.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
Did I get that?
Speaker 16 (14:23):
It's just.
Speaker 7 (14:26):
I feel like they finally lets everybody sell down the
noise and really understand that, you know, to take advantage
of trying to be a wanna know each week rather
than looking at what the media is saying about.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
You know what what it is at one and.
Speaker 7 (14:40):
For now, what it was in the future when we
started zero and zero is now. It's everybody gets to
look at, you know, the white lines of trying to
be wanted to know?
Speaker 4 (14:47):
That week?
Speaker 10 (14:48):
Did you feel like based on the week of practice
and you guys were gonna come out and give a
good effort to day?
Speaker 6 (14:53):
And is were you optimistic coming into today?
Speaker 4 (14:56):
Every time we practice ied, you know, looked optimistic.
Speaker 7 (14:59):
Only get a w.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
I mean every week I try to go in.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
And understand that the goals we want to know whether
who's that quarterback, tight end, receiver, running back BB whoever
goal for Raven and be wanting out every week.
Speaker 17 (15:10):
Do you feel like there's a little bit of a
snowball effect when things start to go wrong, it seems
to get worse.
Speaker 6 (15:14):
And how do you kind of fool out of that?
Speaker 7 (15:17):
I feel like that's you know, where we're at right now.
I mean, you know, trying to trying to get a win,
trying to get out of this lost, losing record. I
mean that's what you know, the snowball effect. I mean
everybody's just you know, not wanting to have it be
their guy, their play. So really just understand that, you know,
just being the leader, just telling everybody it's a new game,
new week, new opponent, unless just be a.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
We also heard from center Tyler Linderbaum.
Speaker 5 (15:47):
Keep ourselves in football games and win football games. So
whoever's out there, injuries are part of the game. Whoever's
out there, we gotta we gotta play at a high
level and a higher level, so you know, you gotta
you gotta stick together. Our warning force not where we
wanna be, but we got a a lot of football
left ahead, and we gotta stay together in this locker
(16:07):
room together moving forward.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
You feel like.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Guys are float into that message of you know, there's
still a lot of football.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Do you can feel like that?
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Better be? Yeah? Better be?
Speaker 16 (16:18):
What Chobo said that you guys are still trying to
find yourselves and get get to find your identity. How
do you do that going forward and trying to find
that offensive rhythm when you don't have Lamar Jackson this week?
Been looking into next week?
Speaker 5 (16:30):
Yeah, like I said, wherever's out there, we gotta we
gotta find a way to win, you know, obviously starting
to firm. We gotta do better running the ball, past protection, everything. So, uh,
go back to film and can't let this carry over
in the next week, and we gotta do our best
to try not to let that happen.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
How is it execution?
Speaker 8 (16:51):
Is it not?
Speaker 15 (16:51):
Hear it both?
Speaker 14 (16:53):
What can you think? No?
Speaker 12 (16:54):
I don't, I don't.
Speaker 5 (16:55):
I don't think it's effort. I think guys play hard. Yeah,
obviously execute, go back and look at the film and
and see what we can improve on. That's that's the
only way we're gonna get better, and and buying in
and and really looking in the Marriant scene if you're
you're doing what all you can for this team to
win football games.
Speaker 15 (17:15):
Tyler, we know how important the run game is to you.
Speaker 12 (17:18):
Guys's all defension.
Speaker 15 (17:19):
Just how disappointed is it to to not get that
push that you're used to getting up front?
Speaker 5 (17:24):
Yeah, I mean, obviously want to run the ball at
efficient level. Got the best back in the game. Uh
So we gotta we gotta find a way to be better.
Speaker 15 (17:35):
Would we get Cooper today? Is he gonna gonna see
replays him throwing it? But I mean he you know,
certainly the first ride in particular, a lot of good
throws and he looked in command.
Speaker 5 (17:43):
Yeah, Coop took command of the offense. Thart did a
great job today, and you know, ultimately we gotta play
better around him.
Speaker 10 (17:50):
Do you tell her you're feeling Once this team does
get healthy, let's stay after the buy that that you
are capable of going on the run that you'll need
to go on at this.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
Point, healthy not healthy. We gotta play better. Guys are
out there, gotta play at a high level and you know,
it's the NFL. No one's gonna give it to you.
We gotta go out there and play at a high
level and.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Take it.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
Next.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
We heard from running back Derrick Henry.
Speaker 6 (18:14):
Derek what what used to change?
Speaker 12 (18:18):
That?
Speaker 13 (18:18):
We just need to play better. It's easy to finger
point and everything is going bad.
Speaker 17 (18:26):
You know, we.
Speaker 13 (18:28):
Have been playing good, have not been displaying a good
football team. But you know, we just gotta go back
to work cause we still gotta going to work on Mondays.
So you know, as a whole, we just all have
to be better. I said, it's easy to finger points
say this, say that it's just not good right now.
We're all you know, you know we need to fix
(18:50):
it quick and but we still got time. You know,
we got some guys banged up, nicked up, but you know,
definitely not what we wanna display today. Theod thing to
learn from the last two games we got to learn
from me know for like all of 'em. So you know,
mean y'all need to be better. So it's all about
this kind.
Speaker 16 (19:10):
Of shell shock.
Speaker 8 (19:11):
At what's the point?
Speaker 12 (19:11):
It's silver. I'm sorry when you go so so.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Different than what I knew you were expect in coming.
Speaker 13 (19:16):
Into this and to you at this point, yeah, I
think you know, we all you know, kind of surprised
right now.
Speaker 12 (19:22):
You know it's transpired. But who's gonna be the one
that turn it around? Is gonna be us?
Speaker 13 (19:27):
So you know it's hard to be like you know,
we we can still do it. But I you know,
I still believe in these guys. I'm'a try to keep
leading as as the best as I can, showing up
to work, working hard, doing my job. Like I said,
it's eased to be negative. I mean, everybody can have
the poor means and why this, why that, But I'm
(19:48):
not blaming anybody. Look at myself first and see what
I need to do better, and then we all go
in there as a group as a unit and try
to fix everything and turn this think around as quickly
as possible.
Speaker 12 (19:58):
Like I said before, everyth there.
Speaker 14 (20:00):
How frustrating is it that the run game again, what
just wasn't able to really get going.
Speaker 12 (20:05):
Just wasn't good enough us as a whole.
Speaker 13 (20:08):
You know, it takes all of us, But I still
believe we can get to where we need to be
as far as you know, in the run game to
help this team to be efficient, to make plays, cause
we we done it before. You know, we all its
hard last year and it's just not clicking right now.
You know, we just gotta find ways to make it click.
(20:28):
And when it goes go and you know, so I'm
like larnt of screamers be exposed us I gotta be better.
Speaker 12 (20:37):
We all just gotta try to figure it out.
Speaker 13 (20:40):
Like but I think one thing about I'm not gonna
be negative and when it's easy to be negative and
to try to be positive and carriage everybody and tell
for our nations keep believing, cause you know, we gonna
keep going to work and try to fix this thing.
Speaker 12 (20:51):
R takeer.
Speaker 17 (20:51):
A lot of guys, you know, coaches and Clode say
you got to practicing, well, do the things in practice,
and it's just not translated Game one.
Speaker 6 (21:00):
Does that the case in in?
Speaker 12 (21:01):
Why do you think it's not translating in it? Yeah? Man,
everybody to practice hard.
Speaker 13 (21:05):
Everybody comes to work, practice execution, do what we need
to do as far as you know, uh, putting the
work in throughout the week.
Speaker 12 (21:16):
Just not translating, That's all I said.
Speaker 13 (21:18):
I mean, it's not like we going in there just
body bagging and not doing our job. Everybody comes to
work in tentative and wanting to get the w W
want to get the job done. Like to translate to Sunday.
It's just not but I believe it it will. And
you know, we just gotta keep fighting, keep showing up,
and you know, keep believing one another, hold each other accountable,
(21:38):
and you know, I I believe it'll.
Speaker 12 (21:40):
It'll turn around. They'recuepending this leap for for a long time.
But you look around the locker room.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
And you hear the messaging from from John and the
other coaches. Does it Does it feel like that message
is still connecting with with the guys.
Speaker 12 (21:50):
That's locker around. Yeah, definitely. I mean you know what
I'm said.
Speaker 13 (21:52):
It's easy to be like, you know, turn turn, turn
your head the other way, but I'm I'm not doing that.
Uh Now, I think when stuff as a as a
leader on this team, we got all the right guys
to to to get it done. Like I said, we
didn't display what we needed to uh today, fix it,
get ready for for next week. Start getting guys back
(22:15):
that are injury right now they're back healthy, and you
see what happens there.
Speaker 6 (22:20):
You mentioned holding each other uh accountable?
Speaker 9 (22:23):
Do you do you feel like you guys have been
doing that this season or could just could Is there
like another level of I guess parshs that.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
You guys could be though to get out of the rut?
Speaker 12 (22:32):
I mean anytime it's you know a lot of specially
luft like that. I mean you you you you, you look.
Speaker 13 (22:38):
At guys and you know we we all he evaluate
one another just like the coaches do.
Speaker 12 (22:43):
And if you know somebody needs to step up and
say something, you know we'll we we'll all do that.
But you know it's you know, it's just tough right
now for us.
Speaker 13 (22:52):
But like I said, I know every guy in the
locker room and still believing one another. We just gotta
go do it and we practice hard throughout the week
like like he said, good and it's gotta translate to
the game.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Except we heard from cornerback Jair Alexander man it felt.
Speaker 8 (23:10):
Great, both amazing, great feeling man who had a major
hit of doping me.
Speaker 15 (23:17):
Is there any concern coming into this one that you
weren't gonna be able to play some meaningful stamps?
Speaker 16 (23:22):
Uh no, uh no.
Speaker 12 (23:24):
I expected that to be in there.
Speaker 15 (23:26):
And where the game went them scoring out of your
first seven drives. I mean, it's gotta be like this
is not with you guys in the vision back and
all this hiding ready for this. What do you take
away from that?
Speaker 14 (23:38):
Uh?
Speaker 8 (23:38):
I mean we gotta we gotta evaluate ourselves critically, and
we gotta come out with the mindset of we we
got time. You know, anything can happen in this league,
and we just gotta get better.
Speaker 16 (23:49):
Do you feel like some teams have figured you guys
out on both sides of the ball at this point?
Speaker 8 (23:53):
Sure, I don't know. I haven't thought about that. I hope,
I hope no. You know, but you know, football is
a team sport, you know, so it's kind of tough
to say.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Jerry, w what's kind of the thing you would point
to and say it's been the biggest reason why this
defense just kind of hasn't clicked fight five weeks that.
Speaker 8 (24:09):
Uh shoot, the biggest thing, you know. I don't. I
can't point it out, man. I just I watch the
film every week, man, and I see, you know, instances
where we can be better. Honestly, you know, so I
mean it, j It just points back to ourselves.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
Jack he figures through what led to that shopping match.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
After that touchdown with the Texans receiver.
Speaker 8 (24:29):
Yeah, I mean, shoot, I seen him celebrating in the
flock and the bank end zone. I don't appreciate that
while I was on the field, and then I seen
him toss the ball to the ball boy and then
he try to.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Get it back.
Speaker 8 (24:39):
So I was just like, nah, you ain't getting the
ball back when they got mad?
Speaker 16 (24:43):
You know.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
Uh, what was it like to have a.
Speaker 16 (24:47):
A different guy with the green dot kind of relaying
those calls to Uh?
Speaker 12 (24:50):
It was fun.
Speaker 8 (24:51):
I enjoy I enjoyed Battleca's presidents out there. He he
seemed like a real leader, you know, with the green dot,
So I appreciate him. He and then he's gonna get
the corner of the call, So I appreciate that.
Speaker 5 (25:03):
Jay, you mentioned evaluating yourselves.
Speaker 9 (25:04):
Is it Do you think it's more of like an
execution thing.
Speaker 8 (25:07):
Or yeah, we got to execute better for sure.
Speaker 7 (25:09):
Man.
Speaker 8 (25:09):
It's times where we didn't execute good enough, you know,
and if we execute, maybe the outcomes different.
Speaker 5 (25:17):
Jared that you get signals from both Teddy and Malika
or was it just Malchai?
Speaker 8 (25:22):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (25:23):
She was.
Speaker 8 (25:24):
As far as I can remember, it was Malachai sometimes Teddy,
But I can remember Malakai.
Speaker 12 (25:28):
Because you know it's my die.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
We also heard from running back Keith Mitchell, who made
his debut today for the twenty twenty five season.
Speaker 15 (25:40):
They score every time they get the ball, virtually, and
you know just that the pressure that adds on to you.
Speaker 14 (25:45):
Guys ain't no pressure. It's just another opportunity to line
a key return. Just get another shot at that and
get to feel that.
Speaker 15 (25:53):
What's when as far as you kick returns, how do
you take me through a little bit, especially with a
new arg what do you think?
Speaker 4 (26:01):
I like it?
Speaker 14 (26:02):
I mean, it is what it is. I can't change it,
So I just gotta go out there get the feeling.
Hopefully I can do something next week.
Speaker 15 (26:09):
Well, thankfully, feel like you were close a couple of
times to break it looks like you're close to breaking something. Man,
we'll slip here.
Speaker 12 (26:14):
Yeah yeah, I kept slipping. But it's glad.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
You gotta get that feel back.
Speaker 16 (26:19):
They're getting better at taking you guys down. You Derek,
I mean, you know he gets in the end zone today,
But what is it about the run game that you
still haven't been able to kind of get over that hurdle?
Speaker 14 (26:29):
Now, we just gotta keep giving us the ball, keep
giving us opportunities and just try to make them count.
Speaker 16 (26:35):
Just the second time in this franchise's history that you
have a one in four start.
Speaker 6 (26:39):
What was the message from coach Arball.
Speaker 16 (26:40):
Going into the Rams game and then an early buy
which could be helpful?
Speaker 14 (26:44):
Come out in practice and keep going, keep working hard,
don't hang our heads. Still got a long season, and
just keep going.
Speaker 6 (26:52):
Yeah, and how did you go out there today?
Speaker 4 (26:55):
I felt good?
Speaker 12 (26:55):
Was just having fun.
Speaker 8 (26:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
We also heard from defensive lineman John Jenkins.
Speaker 17 (27:05):
You've been in defensive Zach Orr while the fans are
calling for one job?
Speaker 13 (27:10):
Is it hard for that messaging you'll still get when.
Speaker 16 (27:12):
The games keep going so far?
Speaker 12 (27:14):
Like that's tough.
Speaker 17 (27:15):
You know, this is uh sit a given Sunday, and
you know when we go out there, you know, I
gotta make sure that I'm I'm doing my one to
eleven and when I'm not doing my one eleven, then
you know it's I blame a.
Speaker 16 (27:28):
Lot on me.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
So if you think he's the guy for the job,
why would you.
Speaker 12 (27:32):
Say that, I'm sorry, what's your saying? Do you think
that sac Or is a guy?
Speaker 14 (27:36):
Good job?
Speaker 12 (27:37):
And why?
Speaker 17 (27:38):
Oh, he's he's a great, great quire. You understand the game.
And like I said when we begin under the interview,
I just gotta get better. You know, he put me
in good positions to make plays and I didn't capitalize. So,
you know it, I take a lot of the blame.
So it was on me.
Speaker 8 (27:52):
Do you feel like a lot of guys are saying similating.
Speaker 17 (27:54):
I don't know what what guys are saying, but I
know what I'm saying that right now was you know,
I cat I'm only in control of them on one
to eleven, and I left some players out there on
the field that I should have been able to capitalize. Say,
put me in a position and capitalize, and I didn't capitalize.
I've gotta get better.
Speaker 14 (28:09):
The team after this loss, and what was.
Speaker 17 (28:10):
Its messaging is just stick together, you know it's again,
that's a that's a game, you know, you know, roll
with them built overnight. So we just got to keep
keep getting better. And I need to capitalize on my
opportunities things I want to keep working.
