Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the Ravers Press Pas podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
The Raves took down the Minnesota Vikings twenty seven to
nineteen on Sunday. After the game, we heard from head
coach John Harbaugh.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
First of all, just our condolences to Commissioner Tagliboo's family
and to the amazing, amazing leader he was in the
National Football League all those years. As I think back,
even as a kid, Pete Roselle and then Paul taglab
you know that was the National Football League, so uh,
he was a He's legendary and the league would not
be what it is without Paul Taglan for sure. And

(00:31):
then also the Marshawn Marshan Nieland's family. I mean, just
what a what a what a tragic thing, But what
a good young man he was. And I think back
in Western Michigan, that's where I met my wife, a
Western Michigan anger.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
He was sitting right there.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
And he and I had that conversation about that in
the draft, and just what a what a good good
person he was, and to his family he raised, he
raised a good boy there. He's a he's a good
young man. We had two birthdays. Daniel Falale, Happy birthday,
neglected to mention in the pregame celebration and doctor Tucker,
So happy birthday, doctor Tucker.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
And then what a great win win based on faith
and guts and and faith. So the passage you're going
to get this one was it was not by their
sword that they won the land, or did the arm
bring them the victory. It was your right hand, your arm,
and the light of your face for you love them.
That was the verse for this week, and we leaned
on that. At least I died for sure. But no

(01:29):
questions you have. I'm just proud of the guys. What
questions you have?

Speaker 5 (01:32):
The fourth balance stands that they made two interceptions?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
How would you describe as I thought, First of all,
Zach called a magnificent game and the coaches and Zach
put together a fantastic game plan and uh, and that
was a really well, you know, Minnesota is a really
good team, Milion. Minnesota is very well coached on both
sides of the ball. Their schemes are incredibly challenging on
both sides of the ball. And then you saw them
came out. They had a really good game plan. They

(02:00):
were they were doing things that were making it challenging
for us. In terms of, hey, you want to blitz them.
You know, we've got some answers for that. You know,
you want to, you want to, you want to play
the pass, We got some answers and running, running and
passing situations, and just a lot of different good plays
that they had. I think coach O'Connell and the whole
staff does a great job, and the same thing on
defense with coach Flores, and they just they make it
tough on you. So it was going to be a

(02:20):
grinder type of a game, especially in this environment. So
I think both sides of the ball did a great
job of handling the grind of the schemes and the
good players that they have, and also the environment of
the of the sound and all that. So I'm proud
of that. But defensively with the three turnovers, I mean,
you know, we had three turnovers total, but they had
the two turnovers, the fourth down stops, the two point
plays stop, and even overcoming some crazy stuff. I mean,

(02:43):
you know, they made they made a couple of fourth
down plays. We could have been off the field earlier,
and our guys didn't crack so many times when you
see situations where that happens and the very next play
it becomes a touchdown. Our guys didn't let that happen.
I mean they left it out there. You talked about
a guy like Kyle van Noy again, I mean he's
in there, he's completely exhausted. He left every thing out
on that field. He's an example and everybody is in
that same place. So that that's the kind of win

(03:05):
that it was.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
Turnovers.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
He got eight in the last four games, which is
a lot more than you had the first five. What
has been the difference in creating those turnovers?

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Sometimes, you know, sometimes you just get opportunities. So I'm
not gonna say it's not just sometimes it just kind
of goes that way. I don't think we had too
many opportunities in the first few games, but I also
think you create your opportunities. You create your opportunity by
being in the right spots. We could add a couple
more if we were the ball carried a foot further
or something like that. But we had eleven quarterback hits.
So a lot of talk about, you know, the lack
of pressure, but we had eleven quarterback hits and four

(03:38):
batted balls. Those are passes defended by the d line
and the pass rushers. I mean, that's pretty darn great.
So those guys I thought had a phenomenal game. The
game kind of turned. Get turned with the turnovers, the
kickoff coverage, that the two point dry or the two
minute drive at the end of the half where we
had hardly any time go down and get that field goal.

(03:58):
Lamar leading that drive, that offense with the crowd and
everything else going on, all the pressure. Then to come
back out, get to stop, get the turnover, get to
score the touchdown, and then get the fumble, turn the
fumble on the kickoff. I mean that turned the game
between the second and third quarter right there.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
What did he say about Jackson? That bubble, just the spark.
He's brought some special teams.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
He said he was gonna make a name for himself.
He told me that, So I think he's doing it.
You know, he's not thirty nine anymore. He's can't they Jackson?
You know, we're probably I just that guy brings it,
you know, he's uh. He got his first fumble, first
forced fumble, and first force fumble recovery on the same play.

Speaker 7 (04:36):
John was the key to the late third quarter drive
that ended well into the fourth quarter. Where you got
the run game going and you had a lot of
third down convergeons.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
How big was that and sort of taking control.

Speaker 8 (04:47):
Of the game.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
That was really big. And you know, I thought Todd
really called that drive so well because he kept him
he kept the personnel groups moving, he kept the running
pass calls moving. Lamar had a lot to do with that. Lamar.
Lamar wanted to read them out and run some RPOs there,
and Lamar did a great job of executing executing those
RPOs in that situation. I think we really had them
off balance, you know, throughout that whole drive and then

(05:09):
just executing with all the crowd noise. I mean, it's
a lot easier, you kind of it's easy to forget
when it goes well, But that's really tough. It's a
loud place, as you guys. As you guys.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
Know, you've now won at every opponent's home in the NFL,
thirty one different.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
Teams that you want in their stadium.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
Is there a sense of prize an organization actus, this
is the top.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Lake to win in the road and went everywhere on
the road, And how many.

Speaker 5 (05:34):
Coaches have that full set?

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Thanks Jerry, I did not realize that that's cool.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
That's cool.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
I just like I got, I got. I mean at
the end of the game, I was pretty pretty uh
you know, choked up inside, and I didn't shed it here.
You know, it wouldn't let that happen. But uh, I mean,
just where what these guys just how much, how hard
they fought, and how much they believed, how much courage
they showed, you know, and you know, well we're just
four and five, you know, we're still under five hundred.

(06:03):
So that's where we're at. We recognize that, and we
know we're gonna have a big fight, a big tough, knockdown,
drag out fight in Cleveland next week. We know what
that is. We understand what that always is. So just
to get to five hundred, you know, and that's what
we're gonna be fighting for.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Did you guys do anything different to kind of throttle
Jefferson and Addison, not the huge teams from from.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Either we had, We didn't do it.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
We didn't.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
We decided not to overdo the double coverage and and
and leaning the coverage too much.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
We ran.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
We ran a robber coverage to him, so the corner
can play a little outside leverage in the statety was
sitting on the inside. Breaks thought that was very effective.
That's really we we we rolled, we rolled the quarters
to them a couple of times, but that's really still
covering the guys. I think the credit goes to the players.
I thought our guys did a great job of just
covering and they covering. I mean, I don't know. Some
of those passer referits calls I'm not too sure about,

(06:52):
but I was. I thought our guys covered really well
and really with discipline the whole game. That's tough against
those guys, and we were in single high, playing a
lot of you know, man type coverages. So they did
a great job. All the corners did a great job.
And the safety showed up a couple of times too,
towards the end of hes. Yeah, he's got a finger
thing that happened in practice, so he was dealing with that.

(07:13):
You probably notice it all wrapped up there, and he
still caught the interception.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
You think that affected his tackling. It seemed like a
couple of times he was reluctant to but.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
He made it. He made some too. He probably he
probably wanted to protect it a little bit, but I
didn't see him not make a tackle. I thought he
made one on their sideline over there on a screen
or something, a checkdown. Maybe he came up and made
a big tackle just short of the first down.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
John A hundred career starts for Lamar. Yea, does it
seem like it's no, I can't even believe it.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
I can't even believe it. You know, life is short,
run to the ball, you know, and Lamar does. Lamar
epitomizes that. I just couldn't say enough about Lamar Jackson
if you want to talk about his career and his legacy.
I mean, I think he's fifteen and one against NFC teams?
Is that what it is in their stadium? Fourteen and one? Okay,
we have another NFC game on the road, yes, year,

(08:03):
try to get fifteen and one so we can make
that come true too, right, But I mean, fourteen and
one against NFC teams on the road is pretty incredible.
So he's writing a story and he's just in his mind,
he's just beginning. It's just in the early chapters. I'm sure,
what do you think it.

Speaker 7 (08:19):
Says about this group that there's a lot to talk
about how loudness is here? And I think you may
have had won pre snap penalty and no turnovers. How
meaningful is that to the coaching staff? Ben Harpin on
that kind of stuff in this environment.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
I think that's what won the game for us. I
really do. I think the poise under pressure, handling, the noise,
like you said, one pre snap penalty, no turnovers in
this environment, and it's it's the twofold noise. It's the
noise of the crowd, which is incredible, and it's it's
also the noise of the of the defense and the
noise they create with all their schemes and the way
they play. And they're very physical, tough defense, well coached.

(08:52):
So those two things. I gotta give our offense all
the credit for that.

Speaker 9 (08:56):
Okay, great, thank you.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Next up, we heard from safety Kyle Inmton.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
Reception the knockdown gas at the line.

Speaker 10 (09:08):
How you know, I think we're starting to hit our shroud,
you know, we Uh, it's not a surprise to us.
I think we're playing to our potential now and that's
got to be sustained. You know this, We're not We're
happy we got the win, but we're not, you know,

(09:30):
ecstatic about what our record still is. You know, we
still have stuff to do and people to prove wrong,
people to prove right. So you know, this is a
good billing block to going forward in season.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
Turnovers and something you guys have preached.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
It's kind of whole year. In the first of the
month or so, you guys just weren't getting them. Just
what does that do from a confidence or momentum and
pointing for you guys, these last three games.

Speaker 10 (09:52):
Without Yeah, no, that's huge, especially our special teams. Shout
out to our special teams. Everybody on a kickoff, Jordan
Stout pointed, well, other day, Kendre Jackson has been great
for us since he's been active, and big ball energy
is just out there making place for us. And then
also with Malachi and Marlin, you know, giving those turnovers

(10:12):
are huge, you know, and they're not only taking away
points for them, but putting our offense in a better
position rather than them punning and down on the ball
inside of the five. Now we have the ball plus territory
plus territory whatever may be. And you know it's dope
to see everybody getting involved.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
You know, you're happy with the win, but not a
static How does that kind of mentality, how is.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
That driving this team.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
You know that you guys still feel like you have
a lot of goals.

Speaker 5 (10:39):
Look to come here.

Speaker 10 (10:40):
Yeah, I think that's just who we are to the core.
You know, we could be undefeated and still feel like
we have stuff to do. But you know, I think
what got us not trying to bring out the past.
I think what partially partially what got us at one
in five was the fact that we came into the
season maybe thinking I'm not speaking for everybody, but where
the Baltimore Ravens, We're gonna do this, We're gonna do that.

(11:02):
Teams are just gonna lay down and let us win games.
And that's not how it is in this league. So
we got punched in them out early in the season.
But now I think we're responding well, and you know,
we'll just have that car tissue going forward when we
just start sacking wins.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
Do you feel like almost that you guys need to
the game a win?

Speaker 7 (11:19):
Links whereas maybe the offense struggled to find its rhythm
till the third quarter, you guys kept giving them chances
and I sort of was the defense and special team
story today.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
Do you do you feel like you needed to win
a game like that yeah.

Speaker 10 (11:32):
Yeah, I mean, you know, it provides confidence for both
sides of the ball. But I was literally just joking
about it. I'm like, there's been maybe a handful of
games or both sides have played well since I've been here.
It's very complimentary, it seems like, you know, but that's
just how this league is, man. It's it's you never
know what you're gonna get on a day to day basis.
You have a plan, but you need to have a

(11:54):
plan B planing CEE all the way down to Z.
And everybody needs to be comfortable with what we're what
we got going on, and we step on the field,
just go make place hold.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
Justin Jefferson to thirty seven yard toll target except.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
Believe, just what do you appear to do that? Too?

Speaker 10 (12:08):
Good corner play, good scheme by Zeo, everybody involved, And
you know, I think it's just a nameless, faceless opponent
kind of thing. You know, he's obviously one of the
best in the league and has a bunch of records
and deservedly so he gets all the recognition. He's a
great receiver, probably future Hall of Famer kind of guy,
and you know he's he's he's him, as the kids

(12:32):
like to say. But you know, when you line up
across from whoever it may be, you gotta think you're
gonna win your one on one. And I think that's
what everybody on that field, whether you're a corner, a safety,
a d tackle, or a linebacker. And I'm sure the
offense feels the same way. But this game comes down
to winning your one on ones. So I think we
won more one on ones than they did today, and

(12:53):
that's what we won.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
He kind of has this spy your back.

Speaker 10 (12:57):
Uh yeah, now, actually no, we gotta we still got
work to do and stuff to be done, but we
gotta work on our celebrations if we're gonna say that
we ever Spider back, because sum of our celebrations are bad.
But well, at least we have stuff to celebrate now.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (13:16):
So this was in Saturday walk through because we're like,
we need to come with a celebration.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
So it was actually my idea.

Speaker 10 (13:21):
So I took fault, but I just watched like coach
Carter or something, and I was saying, whoever made the play.
So in that case, brokwon and it didn't even count.
And now we're ends up running suicide and now we're
tired getting back to the huddle. But whoever made the
play is like kind of walking across the goal line
like this and just like making the other guys run

(13:43):
like gassers. Whatever it may be, like a basketball team.
But you know, it didn't even matter. So maybe I'm
glad that one just got thrown out, though we'll we'll
figure something else up.

Speaker 7 (13:54):
We got Kyle, you were one of the ones, or
at least saying Mala got starts is gonna be just he's.

Speaker 5 (14:00):
Playing wild, which the ball hasn't come to him yet.
It's sort of, you.

Speaker 7 (14:04):
Know, vindication of the work he's put in and how
steady he was early that he's starting to make plays,
the ball starting to find him.

Speaker 10 (14:11):
Yeah, I mean, god forbid a rookie takes more than
seven games in the NFL to get adjusted. You know,
he is progressing just fine. And you know it's no
surprise to us. You see that in the offseason. You know,
he's twenty one, I think years old, but he acts
like a thirty one year old like he's been in
been in it for ten years. And he's back there

(14:34):
making calls. He's back there encouraging guys in the locker room,
all this stuff, and you can see why he's so
high on the Ravens board and I'm sure a lot
of other teams boards and why people at UGA speak
so highly of him. And that's just the guy he is,
the player he is. He's just been showing you the
past few weeks. And tell him after the game. He's
only gonna build on that. And I can see it
in him that he's gonna get so much better and

(14:55):
it's gonna be a problem appreciate.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Next to this quarterback, Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Uh, what do you think?

Speaker 5 (15:06):
I know your defense is taken a lot of heat
earlier this season. What do you think of the defensive
for me today?

Speaker 4 (15:11):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (15:11):
They played great, you know, played rapist in the football.
I feel like we should have had them a little
bit more, but they got it done.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
I'm more for improvement.

Speaker 6 (15:22):
How much kind of confidence does that give you win things?
Maybe you know we're up and down offensively and then
kind of rely on the defense.

Speaker 5 (15:29):
To do today.

Speaker 11 (15:31):
A lot of confidence, you know, But I have even
more real fun points on the board, like we should
you know, well hash oft to our defense cause they
played the money for game.

Speaker 7 (15:38):
But are how what does it mean going forward to
be able to handle this kind of environment really only
have one pre snap penalty and not turn the ball over.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
What do you think is the key to that? Uh?

Speaker 11 (15:48):
Just practicing, practicing, are you know, trying to get back
and practice and starts in practice. Uh and then translates
to the field, you know, Sundays and Mondays whenever we play.

Speaker 5 (15:59):
But yeah, I'm gonna get on the boy.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
He's about that.

Speaker 9 (16:02):
What I just helping is this win to come into
a tough environment against the team that was playing goodball
and get a win.

Speaker 12 (16:09):
Man.

Speaker 11 (16:09):
Shout out to Yakus offense. They played a one for
Yabe as well. But you know it's good. You know,
it's good to see from offense for us as well.
You know, like you said, going against a great opponent
and I defense playing the way they did against the offense.
But it's always room for improvement.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Do you feel now.

Speaker 13 (16:27):
Three straight after that one to five started, do you
feel this team has turned the corner yet?

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (16:34):
But you know there's still a lot of ball left.
You know, you got to stay locked down. Can't take
a place and nothing like that. You know, you gotta
stay a lockdown.

Speaker 7 (16:42):
No more were of the conversations, like when you went
to the two man warning, you went a third and
four deciding whether or run past stay aggressive?

Speaker 5 (16:49):
Do you have any input on that late in that
final drive.

Speaker 11 (16:53):
I didn't say anything, you know, I was just pretty
much talking to the office.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Really.

Speaker 11 (16:56):
I didn't communicate with coach, you know, I was just lockdown,
trying to get the first down if anything.

Speaker 5 (17:02):
You holding, So after that fall after fun on final rugs, see.

Speaker 11 (17:06):
It popped up, Nah, I don't know, my brother, I
was just going to get it.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
Yeah. Yeah, I was gonna attack the ball myself. I
wasn't him catch you.

Speaker 11 (17:13):
Uh yeah, I wasn't trying to let that happen.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
But you know, it just sloped the ball down more.

Speaker 9 (17:18):
You're saying that you were she would put more points
on the board. Yeah, you know after last week, but
the offense seemed to be going really good against the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
But a win like this and grind it out when
so how important are those? Uh?

Speaker 11 (17:30):
Extremely important? You know, especially in our division. You know,
we play these type of games a lot. Hopefully we're
not in any type of games, but we gotta get
used to a good accustomed to it.

Speaker 6 (17:41):
The mood has kind of changed with you guys, just
from how you said one in five at one point
and not happy with that.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
You rattle off three in a row. How would you
kind of describe.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
The movie the past movie?

Speaker 11 (17:52):
You know, everyone's happened when anyone you know, But I
feel like our moved hasn't changed.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
You know, we're still a locked down you know.

Speaker 11 (17:57):
We still feel like we wondered if I were still behind,
you know, and how to so we gotta, like I say,
places stay locked in.

Speaker 6 (18:04):
That's the messaging from Harvard and changed it all over
the good times the batters to stay felt like pretty.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
Consistent, pretty consistent, pretty consistent.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
Not really does it mean anything? This is your one
hundredth career start in the able season. Does that mean
anything to you? Or did you even know about it?

Speaker 11 (18:20):
I didn't even know anything about it. But it's cool
to get a win on a hire car Freddy.

Speaker 14 (18:25):
Dog football fans know that traditions matter. They're what inspire
us to make our masa in tostitos the traditional way,
starting with whole corn kernels, no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives,
all to give you that perfect crunch. Discover your next
tradition this football season, head to the store, grab your
Tostedo's team bag and scan the code for a chance
to score an epic experience with the Baltimore Ravens Tostitos
tradition matters.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Next tip we heard from safety Malachi Starks.

Speaker 12 (18:47):
See your interceptions in two games.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
I guess what does it mean? Does it feel like this.

Speaker 12 (18:50):
Game is really Yeah?

Speaker 9 (18:52):
I mean I think the guys on a plane with
make it super easy, a lot of experienced guys. I mean,
this a gift from God really to work that we
all put in just to see it playoff. I mean,
it's it's special.

Speaker 5 (19:04):
Defense.

Speaker 9 (19:08):
I think you play defense to take the ball away,
so just to be able to do that and then
like you know, takeaways coming bunch of so for Gods
to be able to come in and you know, play
the defense that.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
We want to play, I mean it's huge.

Speaker 9 (19:20):
The interception today, Yeah, as best as I can. I
was really on the other hash and I was focusing
on that side and then kind of just how them
look opposite, and then like once his shoulder turns, I
knew that the ball was going to the justin, but.

Speaker 4 (19:40):
They just do it kind of late, you know.

Speaker 9 (19:42):
I mean, but I got I got there in time,
and the top pointed.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
It came down with I think the interceptions, interceptions this game,
turnovers and.

Speaker 9 (19:49):
General Yeah, I mean turnover dequal momentum. So anytime you
can get a turnover defense special teams, I mean it's huge.
So just for us to go out there and do
that as a team and play company and football is huge.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
He roll up and just celebrate with Marl. What did
you see on him?

Speaker 9 (20:04):
Like to see him, I thought we were in the
wrong call and I thought he didn't have I thought
that he thought that he had a midfield safety and
he didn't. But he's also playing with one hand, so
I saw it and then like I saw it happen,
I was like, please don't drive it, please don't draft.
And then he caught it and he just kind of
stood there for like, I don't know, it felt like forever,

(20:26):
and I was just excited, you know, like when I
got my.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
Pick, he was the first one down there, and I
was stating on the sideline, I was.

Speaker 9 (20:32):
Just happy for him.

Speaker 5 (20:33):
Might as well touch the third one man, DeAndre. You know,
on drafted rookie at your position.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
What it means for I guess what reaction.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
Did you have to?

Speaker 4 (20:42):
We're like brothers.

Speaker 9 (20:43):
Man, he is so elite what he does, He's going
to be playing in the league for a very long time.
He's a special player. And just for him to go
down there and make those plays, let me just see
where he works, you know, uh uf a. I mean, like,
it's not about how you get there, it's about how
you stay there. I mean, and like what he does
is so special and the amount of work that he

(21:04):
puts into it and how much you care.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
I mean, it's awesome.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
You're talking to my league about just challenge of justin
to the NFL level and learning the game and the
speak of things and all and all that you're coming
off to really strong games. What do you feel like
it's kind of clicking for you and allowing you to
play really well?

Speaker 13 (21:18):
Right?

Speaker 9 (21:19):
Yeah, I think just really trusting myself in my preparation
and the guys around me, just trusting them do their job,
which is allowing me to, you know, play fast and
just be myself. So really just a connection with the
team and just the amount of work.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
That we put in reivers you guys here to do
out there.

Speaker 9 (21:37):
Yeah, I mean, I think you know, I mean that's
probably the best receiver group in the league, you know,
and I think we all just we're all on the
same page.

Speaker 12 (21:46):
You know.

Speaker 9 (21:46):
It's really when you're playing defense, you're all on one page.
I mean, it's you're doing your job and that's how
that matters. So just for us to continue to stay
on the same page, continue to keep working and get
where you.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
Want to go, means you guys on the same page.

Speaker 9 (22:02):
I think it's just just communicating. Uh really, when it
comes down like the connection. You know, it's super easy
to to talk to somebody you have a connection with.
So just to be able to to talk and you know,
be on the same page. Uh mayan just sounds simple,
but it's really hard just for us.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
To Next is quarterback Marlon Humphrey, Well, I know you
guys have one of your third straight game here. What
does it mean for this team to sacks and wins
together like this?

Speaker 4 (22:29):
Ah? Man, It's it's great.

Speaker 13 (22:31):
I think obviously stacking wins builds momentum, which obviously we
didn't have towards started the season, So kind of getting
some of that right now is Uh, it's been great.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
You come up with an interception, take take us through
that playing the pack.

Speaker 6 (22:45):
That was.

Speaker 13 (22:47):
We were in a kind of all out, kind of
stop the run type play, so it was one on
one and uh, I kind of thought they might have
taken a shot, and they uh kind of threw a
post and I was able to try.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
And i'd get get my first.

Speaker 13 (23:03):
Uh found out today it was number twenty of my career,
so that was school. Uh, but it's able to get
my my first one. At the year I always I said.

Speaker 12 (23:09):
He was a little concerned cause he knew you're dealing
with that hand thing making that catch. How difficult was
that and.

Speaker 13 (23:14):
How I'm not gonna lie? I I was definitely uh,
you know, kind of one hand.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
I I was.

Speaker 13 (23:21):
I was a little nervous when the ball was up,
but I was able to catch it. And uh the
next thing was, I know, if I get hit, probably
gonna fumble. So I was able to get out of
bounce too, So that was that was great as well. Blockers, Yeah,
some people thought I was saying with the block I
I kind of was, but I also like, I did
not wanna get hit. I don't I don't feel too
comfortable holding on to the ball, so I wanted to

(23:42):
catch it, and.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Uh, keep it.

Speaker 12 (23:43):
You said that you were the first one to celebrate
his first interception with him, so he wouldn't be down
there with you.

Speaker 5 (23:49):
What does that mean?

Speaker 12 (23:49):
And also just in general, like the takeaways for the
confidents of this defense and all the young guys.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Yeah, I think it's it's great, you know, Malacha.

Speaker 13 (23:56):
You know, actually this this past week, he he just
told me and Kylee appreciated us for being you know,
vets and so it that kind.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
Of meant a lot to me.

Speaker 13 (24:04):
You know, when I was a rookie, you know B
Carr and Eric Weddle and Tony Jefferson, those are guys
I really looked up to, not only as players, but
just as men. So it was great to celebrate some
plays you know, that we were getting. I think turnovers
has been key. I think you spoke on that in
the offseason. It's hard to win games if you don't
turn the ball over. So when you do turn the
ball over, your chances are just so much higher. And

(24:25):
I think that's been the biggest difference uh the past
couple of weeks.

Speaker 7 (24:27):
More than the everybody this week, who Zach or some
of the defensive the players. Whenever people would talk about
the defensive movement did say we still going to go.
We haven't done anything yet, but how much is a
game like this where kind of you, you guys were
needed you and the special teams were needed with the
defense kind of or the offense struggling early, which you
didn't need. A result like this where the defense kind
of carried the day.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
In all that ways.

Speaker 13 (24:49):
Yeah, I think you know, when you have Lamar Jackson,
there's gonna be plenty of games when he kind of
leads the team and I think, uh, sometimes you know,
they might you know, it was a it was a
really good Vikings new defense as as far as their
schemes and different things they do.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
So it was it was good to kind of you know,
it's it's weird.

Speaker 12 (25:06):
You know.

Speaker 13 (25:06):
Obviously we had some good turnovers, but you know, there
were so many plays we left out there on the table.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
I mean, fourth down start with me missed the sack. There.

Speaker 13 (25:13):
There was a lot of plays where we just that's
and that's as you know, that's rewarding to play, okay,
and so when that's that's great. But I think that's
kind of gonna be the key going forward. We can
get really dangerous when all three phases are playing elite,
and I think even on defense, I thought we played okay, good,
ot special things, played great and often just played you know,

(25:35):
kind of average, so we can help out in our
whatever way. I think that's just complimentary football.

Speaker 6 (25:40):
You feel like you guys have kind of turned a
corner in that respect. Her to you to feel like
it's important to sort of keep that mentality of like, hey,
you still left those things out.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
I I I think we I wanna say we.

Speaker 13 (25:53):
Taken a step, but like I said, there's been so
many players we just left out there. But I will
say we're It's it's more plays of eleven guys doing
their job. I suppose it sometimes when it's ten play
ten guys. And so that's that's been the biggest key.
It's just doing your job. And a lot of times
the players will come right.

Speaker 7 (26:12):
To you more like how are you physically? I can
said your deal with a finger or issue? Is that
something you feel like could be a problem of forward
or shit.

Speaker 13 (26:20):
Honestly, I'm really not sure I had a a deal
happened Friday, So it's it's kind of I I honestly
have never really dealt with something kind of like this,
so it's a little bit experimental for me, so I'm
kind of unaware of what exactly going forward. It was
not the most comfortable that was for sure, but we'll

(26:41):
see going forward. But you still made the interception. I
did still make the interception. I think if I had
two hands, I probably would have dropped it, honestly.

Speaker 4 (26:47):
So, uh, the cast might be good luck, So we'll.

Speaker 13 (26:50):
We'll we'll see if uh, if I'm still wearing the
cast in the playoffs or something that would that would
be uh, that would be why.

Speaker 7 (26:55):
Kyle wasn't too thrilled with the interception or the non
interception end zone celebration, where we're usually kind of have
opinions on those, what if.

Speaker 5 (27:03):
Do you think?

Speaker 13 (27:04):
You know, I thought that was you know one, But
you know, I think the good thing is we've we've
been planning these intercept these celebrations, which means we're planning
to make the plays.

Speaker 4 (27:13):
And I think that's a part of the whole thing.

Speaker 13 (27:16):
You gotta believe it, you gotta see it during the week,
and I think that's another thing that's changed with our defense.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
You know, we're really believing.

Speaker 13 (27:23):
You know, obviously we have Lamar Jackson, but on defense,
We're trying to get it to where we can win games.
On defense, we don't even need the offense to put
up any points. We can turn the ball up, but
we can get them the ball in the red zone.
So that's been a big key. I think the mindset
shift of even though we have Lamar Jackson, let's give
him a smoke ber, let's give him off day, like
you know, let's you know he's belt it as so

(27:44):
many times, how about we do it? And so I
think that's been a big difference as far as the monset.

Speaker 6 (27:49):
When did you guys start planning the celebrations.

Speaker 13 (27:51):
We started planning them, I know, Miami, we were a
little late. We actually planned that pre game, so we
have to make it very simple because you know, choreographing
it this when we planned a little bit early in
the week with the suicides.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
That it ended up not being an interception. But so
we're we got more to come.

Speaker 13 (28:09):
But uh, you play good football, you get to celebrate
it and everybody, everybody gets to be a part of it.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
So that's what's been great.

Speaker 13 (28:20):
That guy's being energetic in al ways and I am
loving everything that he's he's seeing. I feel like he's
he's bringing the swag to our special teams unit.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
I think you know that identity.

Speaker 13 (28:31):
I don't think it ever faded, but I like what
he's bringing and every all those guys are bringing out
of that special teams unit.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Next, we heard from outside linebacker Kyle Van Nooli.

Speaker 8 (28:43):
I think you saw that at the end of the game,
he was scrambling a little bit more, just trying to
do whatever it takes to win. And you gotta respect that.
He didn't have his best game, but he just keeps
battling and you gotta give him, you know, kudos to that.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
You know it. It was a hard and far game
and we thought that, you know, we still got to
get to work.

Speaker 8 (29:04):
We're not happy with everything that we did offensively and defensively,
I mean special teams. It's hard to get much better
than what they did. They did a hell of a
job getting the ball out and flipping the field position.
Stout's been playing at a high level, but honestly, I'm
just grateful to get out with a win, a complimentary
football win.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
We've been playing complimentary.

Speaker 8 (29:24):
Football the last couple of weeks, and it's when we
play that way, good things happen Kyle Sick's taken aways
in the last two games.

Speaker 5 (29:31):
What do you guys most proud of right now?

Speaker 8 (29:33):
Is a bed because you know, proud, I don't want
to say that because we're four and five. You know,
we still have a lot of work to do, a
lot of games left. But we're enjoying the process of
getting better. And I don't think we're taking what we're
doing lightly. It's taken hard work, execution, a lot of

(29:55):
team effort, and just grateful for the men you know
where we were the that happened to man up and
you know, keep digging ourselves out of the valley. You know,
there's just another mountain, the Vikings. You know, we've got
Cleveland Browns coming up. They play it's tough, especially at home,
so we're gonna have another battle.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
And to point the turnovers, how big players big.

Speaker 5 (30:18):
Out of the teams defense.

Speaker 8 (30:19):
Yeah, I think anybody that gets turnovers it helps their defense.
You look at the top defenses in the league over
the course of this season, turnovers have been huge for him.
And you know that's something that we've been harping on
and we got to continue to harp on it and
continue to continue to capitalize too.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
You know, we're not satisfied with just getting one or two.

Speaker 8 (30:40):
We need to get multiple, you know, we needed we
need to get as many terms as we can get
and today was a great example of that. But just
excited to get it out of the dub with a
team on the ropes like that's a good football team,
well coached on both sides of the football, special teams.
You know four, I'm sorry, I don't know his name,

(31:01):
but number four has had a hell.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
Of a year or so far.

Speaker 8 (31:04):
And to get him to fumble a couple of times,
you know, it was a team display that you like
to see moving forward, and we hope we continue to
propel that up another mountain.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
Next we heard from running back Derrick Henry. There third
straight win for this team.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
How big is it to stack together wins?

Speaker 7 (31:24):
And when in a tough fire.

Speaker 15 (31:25):
Played today, I'm very proud of everybody on all three phases.
Tough place, playing, good team, and third bend the row.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
It's gonna keep stacking.

Speaker 7 (31:37):
What do you think was the key especially in that
second like late third quarter, only fourth quarter, getting that
that run game early.

Speaker 15 (31:44):
Frankly, we think it was just keep believing, you know,
just keep it on executing and then eventually, you know,
we'll get what we want.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
And I feel like you're ready to great job that
up some of.

Speaker 6 (31:58):
The defense doing what it today in terms of coursing
a ton of turnovers. Thank if you guys any kind
of boost or energy, uh from that standpoint when things
maybe are you know, up and down offensively.

Speaker 4 (32:11):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 15 (32:12):
It's a momentum creator on on both sides, you know,
for the whole team and Deep doing a great job
of getting us the ball back creating turnovers, which they
preach every day and they practice throughout the week, so
what happens in the game, so you know, excited for
it for the defense, and you know, just gonna keep going.

Speaker 12 (32:29):
Marlon just said he wants to get to the point
where they can give you guys a little stuff break.
I guess you speak about what it's like to build
that trust with the defense as they've improved.

Speaker 4 (32:39):
I just think that's the product they have.

Speaker 15 (32:42):
We don't want to be a dominant defense reg havoc
because turnovers make a lot of tackles and they've been
doing a great job of being consistent, so you know,
we appreciate them and we just gotta keep it leaving
to one another and keep you stand going.

Speaker 6 (32:56):
You're plating a lot of loud environments obviously, thank you
guys media. Just the one pre snap penalty and it
seem to handle the noise pretty well offensively. Is that
is that something you guys take extra pride and given
the preparation you put in during the week and stuff.

Speaker 15 (33:11):
I understand that the level of focus. You know, we
knew it was gonna be allowed. It's great invited man
saidam Or. They have great friends, great atmosphere, so we
just had to focus on in and focus on what
we need to do as a team. Yeah, just the passion,

(33:34):
you know it just this season we've been through some things,
but you know, just keep on focus on persevering, you know,
through it all, and you know we all we got.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
And lastly we heard from rookie his special team or
DeAndre Jackson. You're listening to the rapis Press Past podcast,
