6 de maio de 1974: Sá Carneiro, Magalhães Mota e Pinto Balsemão fundaram o PPD, Partido Popular Democrático, um dos primeiros a surgir depois do 25 de Abril. Já existiam o PCP, fundado em 1921, e o PS, sucessor da Ação Socialista Portuguesa, fundado em 1973. Pouco tempo depois, em julho, foi fundado o CDS: Centro Democrático e Social.
Por circunstâncias várias, estes foram os quatro partidos estruturantes do regime democrático. Este episódio relembra os seus fundadores e principais figuras da época, sublinhando a importância dos partidos políticos para uma democracia representativa.
