Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Bisius Joseph's One Walk of the Third and
AlSi and Church Nashville, Tennessee. And how of the week
to all of you seeing the Bible says any shesion three,
It says God wants to do exceedingly abundantly of all
you could ask her things. I want you to go
this week thinking big. I want you to stop apologizing
for anything small. God is a God who's big, and
(00:22):
he wants to do big things in your life. And
so often we allow ourselves to be limited because of
the mentality and the crowds we hang around. I cheer
people all the time. You can't be big if little
got you. God wants to do big things with a job.
See this in your career. And God got a blessing
and it's got your name on it. Whatever God promise you,
(00:42):
he's able to perform. So when you pray, don't pay
for small stuff. Don't pray for big stuff. Don't just
pray for the cost, play the owner dealership. Pray outside
the box. I want you to know something. So the
two people fishing, they will out their fishing. One father
with the front, another father with the sun. And the
father looked over and saw his partner catching fish and
(01:04):
throwing them back, and they were catching nothing. The frustrating
upset went over close to the boat to find out
why are y'all throwing fish back and we aren't catching anything.
It was because it looked in the boat and realized
that they had a small frying pan and if the
fish they caught did not fit the frying pans, they
threw it back. The question of you today is your
frying pan too small? Your praying and believing God for stuff,
(01:26):
but are you preparing to receive? But God's gonna bring
today your season and make sure your expectation matches your manifestation.
Dad is so, I want to thank God for you today.
I want you to be blessed hate Check me out
on YouTube Mountains and Nashville and follow me at Joseph
Walker three on Instagram and let them know you were
listening to the Ricky Smiley on the.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Here's what's going on in the news.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
In Stillwater, Oklahoma are investigating a shooting on the campus
of OSU. It happened yesterday around three forty am outside
a residence hall after people returned from an off campus party.
Three people were shot, including at least one student. Two
are recovering after undergoing surgery, while another has been released.
Police say there's no ongoing threat to campus. However, no
(02:23):
arrest had been made. Investigators were asking for the public's help,
and also across the country this weekend, millions took part
in no Kings protest, with demonstrators speaking out on issues
like ice raids, the economy, and troops deployed in US cities.
Most of the rallies were peaceful, but there were several
arrests in Denver and Chicago. In LA police used tear
(02:46):
gas late Saturday night to clear a downtown crowd they
refused to leave, but the protests wrapped up peacefully in
most other cities and in other news, many Americans are
feeling the squeeze when it comes to our payments. A
new report shows auto loan delinquencies have served more than
fifty percent since twenty ten, turning what used to be
(03:08):
one of the safest form of credit into one of
the riskiest. The main culprits skyhigh car prices, with the
average vehicle now topping over fifty thousand dollars for the
first time ever, plus soaring insurance, rising repair bills, and
those punishing interest rates and those longer term car loans
really aren't making things any better. Meanwhile, other types of debt,
(03:30):
like credit cards and mortgages have actually seen fewer late
payments for infall. On these stories and more, Goda, Ricky
Smiley show a dot Com. Now here's a look at
sports Rocky, the sports genius is in the building already.
Speaker 5 (03:46):
Now Friday. It is Monday, not Friday. That's a Friday,
Holy Cat, I like where your mind is. Okay, it's
already Friday. Let's go get it, hey man.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
A lot of football happened over the weekend in college
and NFL. Let's start with the NFL because there's only
one game still talking about. That's the Denver Broncos. They
was down nineteen to zero at the end of the
third quarter and scored thirty three points in one quarter
the fourth quarter to beat the Giants thirty three to
thirty two. They tied the most points scored in NFL
(04:16):
history in one quarter.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
Man, So that game was crazy.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Former Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin passed away this
past Saturday.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Man, no info on the cause of death.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
He's thirty six years old, too young, entirely, too soon, man,
So we'll see. We'll keep you guys posted on that
right there. Alabama got the job done versus Tennessee college football.
Two Monday night football games tonight, and of course one
of them is my Detroit Lions playing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
And of course the Houston Texans got the Seattle Seahawks.
(04:47):
Man's on be tuned in both of them. Dog on
games man, it's my quick sports support right there. Good morning,
brigingy Tack.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Drop it like it's had, drop it like it's hard.
At spot.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
This the all of eighteen. Good morning everybody. I'm your girl,
Brad tat Tana and this is the hot spot. But
we bring you music, movies and more so let's get
off into it, well, y'all. Brandy was performing with Monica
doing that The Boy is Mine tour stop in Chicago
when she abruptly had to walk off the stage and
she did not come back. Monica sang the remainder of
(05:23):
the set solo, and the audience was sent home without
hearing the duo's iconic track The Boy is Mine. They
speculated that not Monica, that Brandy was frustrated with the
sound issues, but Brandy revealed that the actual reason she
was that she had to walk off the stages because
she was dehydrated. In an Instagram post on Sunday, she wrote,
(05:43):
I sincerely apologized for the abrupt end to last night's
performance in Chicago. After weeks of NonStop rehearsals, last night,
I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone
involved agreed that prioritizing my well being was of the
utmost importance. I'm deeply grateful to my sister Monica for
stepping up with such grace and professionalism, and to the
(06:05):
entire crew for their continued care and support. So we
hope that Brandy is feeling better. Yeah, man, because the
feeling dehydrated and about to pass out while you're on
stage is not cool because I felt that way before.
And the lights everything can be too much. It becomes overwhelming.
Speaker 7 (06:22):
You get hot, Yeah, you get hot.
Speaker 6 (06:26):
You're moving it and you're trying to keep going for
the crowd and then they screaming the roar from Drea
some Yeah, you're adrenaline. Everything like it is a lot
on the body, so you have to like get your
adequate amount of rest because if you don't, it will
take a toll on you.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
And you gotta drink a lot of water.
Speaker 6 (06:42):
And I know they rehearse a lot because that show
is like a good hour or two hours long, so
you know, it's a lot of dancing and moving around
and changing so many outfits and so many different things.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
So we're gonna keep.
Speaker 6 (06:54):
Brandy in our prayers and Monica because they I heard
they kill it when they perform together.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
So I can't wait to you when they come to Atlanta.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
All right, y'all. Moving on, last, but not least, congratulations

And check out how he found out.
Speaker 8 (07:15):
I'm about to be a grandfather. I don't even sound right.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Grandfather. How did she tell you the big news?
Speaker 8 (07:28):
So you know, it was very cute the way she
did it. She put the sonogram in a box and
it was like a card that said you're now grandma
and grandfather, and the sonogram was in the thing and
she said, I got a gift for you guys, and
we thought it.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
Was a real gift. Yeah, go in the room.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
But how the hell your damn know the hard from
the soft? Hard is a? We thought this right up
all you're supposed to know that interesting choice of words
right up there. But anyway, I'm sorry that you have
to come into all this kind of stuff. I want
to go up BOYD that I really, I really don't apologize.
(12:52):
I know you didn't none of this.
Speaker 11 (12:56):
Yeah, we just want the half I hand.
Speaker 5 (13:01):
Then you go to college and all that too.
Speaker 12 (13:03):
Yeah, yeah, it's a disciplinary.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
What kind of you said it was? I gotta put
the hard a in there there? What's the damn different
between hard and something? And your name?
Speaker 7 (13:17):
Your name Gary, Gary, Gary, disciplinary Canary.
Speaker 12 (13:26):
So the world is interpalo this way up inter disciplinary.
Speaker 5 (13:30):

Speaker 12 (13:45):

Speaker 5 (14:57):
It is about that time Gary had the tea and
the club the other day. Gary, good morning, Good.
Speaker 12 (15:02):
Morning, Ricky, Good morning America, good morning, and years a beautiful,
beautiful day in the neighborhood. And here's what's happening in
celebrity news, y'all, baby, Miss Tammy Roman is spucking outrage.
Now people are angry with Tammy over the refusing to
let her daughter's girlfriend y'all attend the graduation. Now they're saying,
y'all that Tammy Roman is catching major heat after opening
(15:22):
up y'all about her daughter, her beautiful daughter jas Anderson's
relationship during her appearance on Candy Birds podcast Birds Banter.
Now the reality start at many, y'all that her daughter's
girlfriend is not welcome at upcoming family gatherings, including her
daughter's graduation, and that she has no interest in meeting
her anytime soon.
Speaker 5 (15:43):
Now, Tam explain, y'all that her.
Speaker 12 (15:44):
Decision stems from her own mental health and personal comfort,
stated that she needs time, y'all to adjust to her
daughter's lifestyle. Now, however, many listeners y'all found her reasoning
insensitive and out of touch. Now, they're saying, y'all, after
the interview drop her in social media just lit up
with criticism. Now, fans accused Tammy y'all of being homophobic, judgmental,
(16:05):
and two said in her ways. Now, she pointed out
that using mental help as an excuse for intolerance is disappointing,
coming from someone who has long been open about her
own struggles.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
Now, others tell.
Speaker 12 (16:17):
Y'all that her comments reflected a generational divide, arguing that
her reaction is more about.
Speaker 5 (16:23):
Control than concern, y'all.
Speaker 12 (16:25):
And you know people are angry about that, which I mean,
I don't know, I mean Tammy, I mean her daughter
just recently graduated, a beautiful young lady.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
And you know, I mean she dates who she had.
Speaker 12 (16:36):
You know, everybody's already talking about your love who you
love and all that stuff.
Speaker 5 (16:39):
So I guess, Tammy.
Speaker 12 (16:41):
I mean, she has the right to feel the way
she feels, though, But I don't know.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
I don't know if I would.
Speaker 12 (16:45):
In this day and time, how you know, people talking
about stuff and how stuff going on, I don't know.
Had I would have just jumped out and said something
about it, I would just probably just kept it quiet
and just you know, let people figure out.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
How freazd what would you have done?
Speaker 4 (16:59):
I mean, you love who you love, so I have
to accept who my kid loves, and that's just what
it is.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
I don't want to make my kid feel bad about
coming to family gatherings and not inviting the person that
they love.
Speaker 12 (17:12):
Yeah, but you know what, the person they love is respectful.
Speaker 5 (17:16):
Yeah. Yeah, as a parent, that's what you gotta do.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
What we don't get to pick for our children and
real you.
Speaker 14 (17:23):
Said, the key thing as long as that person is
respectful and a decent person.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
I mean, that's that's part of life.
Speaker 12 (17:29):
Yeah, And I'm sure the person may be respectful, but
she's saying that she just don't you know, she's just
not ready to you because of her I don't help that,
you know, she's not ready to yourself.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
You know that serious? You know what I mean?
Speaker 6 (17:40):
It's not her graduation, right, the daughter is an adult.
Speaker 12 (17:46):
Yeah, but you know how parents are too these days.
If I'm paying for it's gonna go the way I wanted.
Speaker 6 (17:51):
To the graduation and don't get paid for by parents,
do I guess maybe the dress graduation like that?
Speaker 5 (17:57):
But I mean it shouldn't be about you. Yeah.
Speaker 12 (18:00):
Well, listen, we're gonna hear hunter to say about while
we talked missing what she.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
Said with your other daughter. Oh she's straight, right, uh huh.
Speaker 15 (18:08):
Her boyfriends in the past, she's.
Speaker 6 (18:11):
Never been allowed to bring her boyfriends around.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
She would be, she would be, she would be? And
why is what's the difference? Because I love it now
we're talking because.
Speaker 15 (18:20):
There's something called confirmation bias. Confirmation bias allows me to
accept whatever situation she's presenting versus not really understanding this moment,
And so I got to take a step back and
figure out how it works for me and how I
can be comfortable in that moment. Because there's something called
mental health that we have to be concerned about, and
(18:42):
I got to be concerned about mine, even though I'm
trying to walk with her and love her, I still
got to do what's right for me as well.
Speaker 12 (18:49):
Oh, I understand that sounds kind of selfish to Yeah,
I'm trying to figure it out.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
She didn't make no sense. She's trying to sound deep. Yeah, yeah,
like it.
Speaker 6 (18:59):
Like our daughter feel bad for who you're loving, Like
she gotta choose between her mama and her girlfriend.
Speaker 12 (19:04):
And you could choose the heterosexual one, but you can't
choose all.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
And if you on probably treat the other girl worse.
Speaker 14 (19:12):
What if you got a head of sexual kid that's
in in a heterosexual relationship, but that person.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
Is a jerk, and ain't im bad? That's better than
having your child in.
Speaker 14 (19:20):
The same sec relationship withhere they being loved and treated
with respect, their kindness.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
I mean, yeah, I don't know about this.
Speaker 12 (19:25):
I know, and I liked him as a person. I
was just a little confused right now.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
And if you try to get your kids to choose
between who the person they love and then your mama,
they don't choose that.
Speaker 11 (19:34):
Yeah, come on, what if you know it came home
with that buffalo with the wings on it that be
at that bar on the commercial?
Speaker 5 (19:45):
Alright, what the Colada day? My Coluna days? Mushroom. On
the hind you say mushroom, and on the love just
say blackish. Great, that's your little a little bit at
that bar.
Speaker 11 (19:56):
Up at that bar with the wings on talking, everybody's
going on.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Wake up wa wa wake up, wake wake up, wake up,
down and get just showing to get up because he

be better.

Speaker 5 (21:34):
My brother. How you doing man, I'm fantastic. How you
doing this morning?
Speaker 13 (21:37):
Brother?
Speaker 5 (21:37):
All good Jeff? What's up? What's up? So listen, y'all.
Speaker 18 (21:42):
I mean you all have been watching the news as
well as I have, and these No King rallies have
they seem to be spreading but but President Trump seems
to be responding to them with a level of dismissal
and and humor, creating memes almost defecating on.
Speaker 5 (22:05):
On on rally goers.
Speaker 18 (22:09):
I'm curious, y'all, like do you think, like, as y'all
watch this, do you think this No King's Rally is
making a difference? Like what does it say to you?
Does it mean anything to you? Are you inspired by it?
Like when you watch it? What does it say to you?
Speaker 4 (22:25):
I mean, since say, I love to see when I
look at the people in New York and Chicago and
these big cities in the streets are filled. Then I'm like, Okay, great,
I'm not crazy. People do understand what's going on in
the world.
Speaker 14 (22:40):
It just makes me a little bit more angry about
the results of November fifth, twenty twenty four, because I
feel like everything that's being done right now is reactive
to something that should never have happened in the first place.
And it's almost like the horses out of the barn
at this point. And I hate to be so pessimistic
about it, but I really feel like the horses out
(23:01):
of the barn. Everything he does, we can react, we
can respond, we can say what we want to say,
but everything he's doing, he's basically untouchable at this point.
And I spent so much time and energy trying to
We spent so much time and energy trying to warn
people that you know, this wasn't gonna end.
Speaker 16 (23:19):
Well if we I don't know. It's no, no, no.
I get what you're saying, kay, I mean I don't
want to say that. I hear both well, there is
no wrong I don't think there is a wrong thing.
I think you're being honest, and I think both of
you are saying something right. I mean, one, I think
there are a lot of people that have been inspired.
I think there are a lot of people that are like, yo,
(23:41):
I'm not nuts, like this is insane and what the
president is doing is real, And simultaneously it can also
be true.
Speaker 5 (23:50):
That, damn it, why are we having to do this
in the first place?
Speaker 18 (23:53):
Like it, especially when you think about the fact that
there are probably people at the No Kings Riley who
didn't vote and so I think, I think you're right, okay.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
But or who couldn't vote for a woman of.
Speaker 18 (24:08):
Color, right right, or or just wouldn't vote for a Democrat.
So whatever the reasons were, we we we see that
there's something there. But but I think it's I think
it's more and more people, regardless of where they are,
because I mean, we've seen we've seen GOP folks, not
(24:29):
necessarily in Congress, but GOP folks weigh in on not
agreeing with the president as it relates to Israel. We
even saw some GOP members say what in the hell
is the president doing? Commuting the sentence of George Santos.
We are hearing some members, some members of the GOP
(24:50):
talking about great, if you want to go after drug dealers.
That's fine, but this doesn't look like you're going after
drug dealers. This looks like you trying to create regime
change and threatening not only regime change in Venezuela, but
also in your language, threatening it in Colombia, all things
you don't have the power to do. And so I
(25:12):
don't know, okay, Like part of me says, listen, the
one place that we saw a difference, and it's almost crazy.
It wasn't really about Jimmy Kimmel. It was about free speech.
And so I think there are people that give Jimmy
Kimmel more credit. But if it would have happened to
some other folks the way it went down, I think
(25:33):
we would have seen the same thing happen.
Speaker 5 (25:35):
And what that was.
Speaker 18 (25:36):
Within forty eight hours, with no march, with no rally,
four billion dollars was held back from a single company.
And I think I heard a couple of people just
in the last couple of days say, if anything is
going to make this work, all of us have to
stop spending. We have to stop driving the thing that
(25:57):
they all want anyway, and that's money. And that may
seem simple, It may seem like a simple answer but
it's the one chink in the armor because there are
a whole lot of racists that are more capitalist than
they are racists. And this country has always been driven
by money. Even the enslaved status that we went through
(26:20):
as a people was about money. It was about capitalism,
It was about capital and so I just think that
the one thing that may make a difference k when
none of this political stuff work is if there was
a move to just stop spending massive losses.
Speaker 5 (26:40):
Maybe that's it.
Speaker 18 (26:41):
Let me know what y'all think, y'all hit me a
jeff nation on ig not as the only tactic, but
as one tactic. Would love to know what you all
think in the midst of all of us trying to
figure out what can we do. Appreciate y'all, y'all have
a fantastic Monday. I talk to y'all on Thursday.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
Appreciate you, Jim Big do yes, sir. But that time
it was.

(28:01):
uh dear Mama and her and her son Albert and
the others, the other boss people, and they all agreed
that black Tony have a very valid complaint about uh
things that have not been dead for him, that what
he had asked for his last contract and they still
(28:23):
haven't come coming. It still haven't happened, so he's not there. Well,
one of the things he asked for very very small things,
like he wanted a parking spot with his name on it,
just say black Tony, just say black Tony park Hill.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
But we have one for.
Speaker 11 (28:41):
Him, but you just can't see it because.
Speaker 13 (28:47):
And he actually and he asked for a special elevator
to come up to the to the floor with the
radio station is on.
Speaker 5 (28:55):
He don't have to ride with other people. Character, man,
you sound like yourself too much.
Speaker 13 (29:00):

Speaker 13 (29:22):

of that, he ain't coming back. I promise you ain't
coming staying, staying there, staying Carrington.
Speaker 13 (29:38):
And I don't care who, I don't care who don't
like it. You got up resolve these issues. Blat Tony
would not be there now, how about that? And that's
what that's what person? Huh why you taking the person?
Because I mean, because we're talking about blat Tony and
blat Tony. He gonna say it right now on them
(30:00):
that way reported to Human.
Speaker 5 (30:02):

Speaker 13 (30:05):
On top on the but me, what, that's why I
called it.

because if you like it, okay, fine, that soap is dry.
Ain't no way you walking past me smelling like two mechanics.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
Come here, let me smell it.
Speaker 19 (30:35):
Back of your neck.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Don't your booty be itching? You won't go nowhere when
me smelling like that.
Speaker 19 (30:39):
You're doing all this talking, but you still musty go
take a shower for real?
Speaker 5 (30:44):
Oh no, see this, I.
Speaker 19 (30:45):
Know you didn't take no good shower because the flow not.
We see when you take showers, the flow be soaking
with it's dry. Where's all the steam on the mirror.
I know what the problem is though, the problem is
they don't make toussy no more.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
This is water.
Speaker 5 (30:58):

Kim revealed y'all that her oldest daughter, Nor has been
nudging her y'all to move on romantically now. According to Kim,
Nort accused her of pretending y'all to be okay, adding

Kim is saying.
Speaker 12 (32:54):
But do y'all think Kim could find another black man
because all the good black men she had them all?
Are there anymore left? Do anybody know? Can can y'all

Speaker 12 (33:12):
Yeah, she did go to people, but I don't know.
That didn't last on she realized he wasn't black. I guess, so,
you know, I don't know. I freak what you know
about that?
Speaker 8 (33:27):

Speaker 5 (33:27):

Speaker 5 (36:26):
Get up, Gary, did you see that post? People are talking?
Here's what on the Lucky Smiley Morning Show, y'all.
Speaker 11 (36:39):
In the morning, shure he's the man making history and
it's the first black lawmaker to ever lead a major
party in Congress.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
Y'all, please welcome House Democratic Leader HAKEM. Jefferson.
Speaker 17 (36:49):
Good morning, morning, Hey, thank you.
Speaker 5 (36:53):
Man, Thank you so much.
Speaker 11 (36:55):
For coming on, especially doing these trying times. A lot
of stuff going on. Jump right into it. The United
States is currently in the middle of a government shut
down and with the House notably out of session. When
is your assistant of how this is impacting every day
Americans and what leverage does the House Democratic leadership have
in this moment.
Speaker 17 (37:15):
Well, thanks again for having me on, and this is
Trump Republicans shut down. Unfortunately, they made the decision that
they would rather shut the government down than provide healthcare
to working class Americans, everyday Americans, black and brown Americans,
and people who are struggling all throughout the country. You know,
our view as Democrats from the very beginning in the
(37:36):
House and the Senate is that we want to find
a bipartisan path to enacting a spending agreement that funds
the government, but we want to make sure that that
spending agreement actually makes life better for the American people,
improves the quality of life of the American people as
opposed to hurting the American people, and Republicans have just
(37:57):
refused to sit down and even have a conversation because
what we've seen from the very beginning of this presidency
is a my way or the highway approach. And so
now the government has been shut down, We've got hundreds
of thousands of hardworking federal employees, many from our community,
who have either been furloughed or being forced to work
(38:18):
without pay. And we know that a lot of folks
are already struggling to live paycheck to paycheck. You know.
Airport safety, of course, is a concern. Food safety is
a concern. The administration of benefits like Social Security and
Medicare and veterans benefits are all concerns in terms of
this government shut down. If Republicans decide to continue.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
It, yeah, it's insane.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
I just want to thank you for, you know, just
standing up and really holding the other side of the
aisle accountable. But let me ask you, how is it
that we can give Argentina. We have the money, we
have the funds to give Argentina billions of dollars, but
we can't Americans with basic health insurance.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
How does the other Aisle not see that.
Speaker 17 (39:05):
Yeah, that is a complete and total outrais I'm so
thankful that you raised that issue. So what the American people,
what our community needs to understand, is that the Trump
administration has been running a massive pay to play scheme
from the very beginning of his presidency. And this is
just another example where they're going to bail out Argentina.
(39:25):
Have found twenty billion dollars to bail out this right
wing want to be dictator in Argentina who's a friend
of Donald Trump. And some of the financiers connected to
the administration and Argentina that are going to benefit from
the bailout are also close former associates to the Trump
Treasury secretary. Yet the Republicans don't seem to have any
(39:50):
interest in spending a dime to extend the Affordable Care
Act tax credits, which provide health insurance that's affordable for
tens of million of Americans. And because those tax credits
are about to expire, we know people right now as
we speak, are receiving notices indicating that their premiums, their copays,
and deductibles are about the skyrocket. In some cases, people
(40:13):
are going to be forced to pay thousands of dollars
more per year for the health insurance that's not affordable.
Some people are going to be facing medical bankruptcy. Other
people are going to go without a doctor. And yet
the Trump administration to date has been unwilling to extend
affordable care and tax credits. We've said, that's unacceptable and
we're not going to support any partisan Republican spending bill
(40:36):
that continues to gut the healthcare of the American people
when we should be supporting the healthcare of the American people.
Speaker 6 (40:42):
Right right, Oh, my goodness, that is so unacceptable. Some
form of government officials are warning that democracy is being
tested in America right now. Do you agree and what
do you think it'll take to bring back trust in
the system?
Speaker 17 (40:56):
Well, I certainly agree that democracy is being tested in
distrusting the system exists for a lot of reasons. One
I think the system has largely for decades now not
been there to provide the type of support for everyday
Americans and working class Americans and people certainly hard working
taxpayers in our community that when you work hard and
(41:19):
play by the rules, at the end of the day,
you should be able to provide a comfortable living for
yourself and for your family, or as I sometimes have said,
lived a good life. And that means good paying job,
good housing, good healthcare, good education for your children, and
a good retirement. And that shouldn't be too difficult to
(41:39):
achieve in this country, the wealthiest country in the history
of the world. But far too many folks are working
hard and they're playing by the rules, but they can
barely get by, let alone get ahead. So we need
to make sure that as a country, and those of
us who have the ability to work in government, that
(42:00):
we're actually improving the quality of life of the American
people as opposed to what we're seeing from this administration,
which is a government of the billionaires, by the billionaires,
and for the billionaires. Now at the same period of time,
you're absolutely correct that the rule of law and democracy
is under assault. We see Donald Trump and his administration,
(42:20):
particularly the sick offense in the Department of Justice. Is
the Department of Injustice under this administration go after people
like my friend and a great public servant, Attorney General
Tis James. We of course are going to stand strongly
behind us. He's a brilliant, patriotic, hardworking, principled and ethical
(42:43):
public servant. The charges against her will not survive. They
have no basis in reality. But all of these things
that we're seeing definitely are designed to erode the foundations
of our democracy. I got to serve with the great
John Lewis, and he would always say to us that
when you see in justice, this, when you see wrongdoing,
you've got to just be prepared to show up and
(43:05):
stand up and speak up for what you know is right.
Get into necessary trouble or good trouble, as he would
often say. And you know, I think we're going to
work hard to do our part in the Congress. We're
going to push back aggressively against the administration and the
extremism that they're unleashing on the American people, people in
our community, in the courts, but ultimately, in a democracy,
(43:30):
it's important for the people to rise up and make
sure that their voices are heard in a peaceful but
firm way.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Say that again, my brother, Yes, Cindidia.
Speaker 5 (43:46):
On the Freaking Smiling Morning Show.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
Here's what's going on in the news.
Speaker 4 (43:50):
The trial for Formers Saying Them in County Deputy Sean
Grayson begins today. He's charged with first three murder for
the twenty twenty four shooting death of Sonya Massey, a
woman who called nine one one because she thought someone
was outside her house. Prosecutors say Grayson ordered her to
move a pot of boiling water, then he shot her,
(44:10):
killing her in her own kitchen.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (44:13):
Grayson has a checkered background, including past misconduct complaints to
UI's and a military discharge.
Speaker 5 (44:19):
The trial was.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
Moved out of Springfield because of concerns about finding an
impartial jury and that jury's makeup could be key in
this high profile trial. Now, the federal government shut down
just hit day twenty today, making it the third longest
in modern US history. So while DC is in total
grid luck with no end in sight, hundreds of thousands
(44:41):
of federal workers remain furloughed, and today the National Nuclear
Security Administration is set to furlough about fourteen hundred people,
leaving only four hundred on duty to guard the nukes.
This is the first time the agency's ever had to
do this since it was created back in two thousand.
In other national news, George Santos back in the spotlight
and somehow out of prison.
Speaker 3 (45:03):
The disgraced former congressman.
Speaker 4 (45:04):
Says he's grateful to Donald Trump for commuting his sentence.
Speaker 22 (45:08):
I'm very grateful to President Trump, DNA and I sit
here quite literally. I don't know how much more humbled
I can get before people believe I'm humble or remorseful.
But I can just do the best in my actions
moving forward.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
So why might people not believe him?
Speaker 4 (45:23):
Well, he lied about everything, his job, his education, even
his family background. He stole donor identities, pocketed campaign cash,
and used it to buy designer clothes and other luxury items.
He even pleaded guilty to wire fraud and identity theft,
and then got booted from Congress and jailed after investigators
called his entire life a con Even Trump called him
(45:44):
a bit of a rogue. But he's loyal, and loyalty
piece off with Trump. The President has used his clemency
powers to help a number of people who critics say
committed serious crimes, including political allies, reality TV stars, and
major frosters. Santos served just months of his seven year
term before Trump's clemency set him free. For info on
(46:05):
these stories and more, go to Ricky Smiley Morning Show
dot com.
Speaker 3 (46:08):
Now Here's a look at sports.
Speaker 5 (46:10):
Rock te the sports genius is in the building.
Speaker 2 (46:13):
Oh yeah, show lamb ladies and gentlemen. Man, Look, a
lot of football happened over the weekend. One particular game
in the NFL that everybody's still talking about is the
Denver Broncos being down nineteen or nothing at the end
of the third quarter and scored thirty three points in
the fourth quarter alone to beat the Giants thirty three
to thirty two. That tied for the most points scored
(46:35):
in NFL history in one quarter. Big up to the
Dallas Cowboys, man, they man handled the Washington Commanders like cowboys.
Look good, man, they got Cede lambback. I get is
what it is, Little sad news man. Former Tampa Bay
running back Doug Martin passed away on Saturday.
Speaker 5 (46:51):
No info on the cause of death.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
So man, we're gonna keep his family in prayer and
I find out what's going on and get you guys
updated on that situation. Two Monday night football games tonight
Tampa Bay and Detroit.
Speaker 5 (47:04):
Oh, that's gonna be a dang baby.
Speaker 2 (47:06):
You know, my Lion's gonna pull it off in Houston
and Seattle quick. In my last story, we all know
that Lebron James and stephen A Smith do not like
each other.
Speaker 5 (47:17):
They have been going at it for some time now.
Speaker 2 (47:19):
Stephen A sat down on a Pivot podcast and revealed
a little more insight about that entire situation.
Speaker 23 (47:26):
And I will tell you my feelings haven't changed. I
don't like him at all. He doesn't like me at all.
I don't like talking about him because I think people
think that I'm looking to talk about him like Lebron's
inside of Stephen said, if you don't ask me about him,
I won't talk about him.
Speaker 5 (47:41):
I'm gonna be professional.
Speaker 23 (47:42):
This man is one, in my mind, the second greatest
player to have ever played the game of basketball. He's
a greater ambassador for the game of basketball. He's an
incredible role model. What he has done with himself, what
he has done with his crew, it's beyond admirable. And
he will always warrant the up most respect. I know
the things that you said behind my back. I know
(48:04):
what you tried to do to derail me from being
in the position that I'm in.
Speaker 5 (48:08):
The day. Oh it is wow.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
So there's more to the story, But hey man, it's
it's a respectful thing.
Speaker 5 (48:16):
Of Okay, you don't like me. I don't like you.
We cool and you live your life. I'm gonna live my.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
Life and we gonna keep it moving. That's what it
sounds like it is. That's my quick sports report right there, man,
b Brad got the hotspot right now.
Speaker 20 (48:31):
Like it's hard.
Speaker 5 (48:32):
Drop it like it's hard.
Speaker 16 (48:37):
At it's a.
Speaker 6 (48:40):
Good morning everybody. I'm your girl, Bradd Ta, I'm sorry.
Did you want to intro me?
Speaker 3 (48:45):
To go ahead?
Speaker 11 (48:45):
Dan?
Speaker 5 (48:46):
Let me do it the right way man, Okay, okay.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Get ready for to bring it attached hotspot.
Speaker 5 (48:51):

Speaker 13 (48:51):

Speaker 5 (48:52):

Speaker 6 (48:53):

Speaker 5 (48:54):
How are you today? You're doing okay? I'm doing great, Brad,
that's what's up.
Speaker 6 (48:57):
Well, let me get on into this hotspot where we
bring you music, movies and more.
Speaker 5 (49:01):
So check this out.
Speaker 6 (49:02):
Brian Nickknight previously foiled the lawsuit against his ex wife
Julie because he claims that she made false claims about
him in her book Mama Bear Beautifully Blended, basically calling
him an abusive husband and neglectful father to their children. Well, y'all, now,
Brian is already declaring the victory in his defamation case
after she didn't appear in court. Now, Brian fouled the
(49:23):
motion for default judgment and is waiting for the court
to sign off to make his win official. But that
technically didn't prevent Brian from celebrating prematurely. The R and
B Legend posted a video of himself smoking a cigar,
and here's what he said.
Speaker 20 (49:37):
It's been a long journey getting to this day, October sixteenth,
twenty twenty five, and the verdict is in. We've been quiet,
listening to liars continue to lie, and keeping to ourselves,
living and loving our life, as we said, leaving everything
in God's hands and letting our lawyer do the talking.
Speaker 5 (49:53):
But according to the.
Speaker 20 (49:54):
Courts, trying to ruin my name and trying to bring
harm to my family in a book filled with lies
equals eight points eight million dollars.
Speaker 5 (50:02):
Yeah. Wow.
Speaker 6 (50:04):
Well now his son, Brian man Knike Junior, is speaking
out and believes his pop celebration is way out of line,
and here's what he said.
Speaker 24 (50:11):
I've tried, man, I've tried really really hard to let
it go, to be the bigger person, to be mature.
Speaker 5 (50:16):
But it's going on with my dad right now.
Speaker 24 (50:18):
Man, If y'all aren't seeing what's happening, if y'all aren't
seeing the fact that this is just a very hurt,
emotionally unavailable, and non intelligent person. The person that is
still have not been able to handle the death of
his own mother, the things that we're seeing him go
through right now. To decide to make certain posts on
my late brother's first day, the gloves are off for me,
(50:39):
just to keep it real.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
May there's a messy, messy family situation right there, and
Junior is referring to his younger brother Nico McKnight, who
tragically passed in May of this year after a cancer battle.
Speaker 6 (50:52):
He would have been thirty two on October sixteenth, so
I think that's when Brian McKnight Senior released the video
celebrating immaturely about winning. So we'll see if he wins
or if he doesn't. But you should never celebrate too
soon if you're not super sure of what's gonna happen.
You don't know what the course is gonna say. They
will flip it on you even if you think you
(51:13):
win it. So I'll keep y'all posted on that. And last,
but not least, y'all, Brandy was performing with Monica doing
that a Boy's Mind Tour stopping the Shy Chicago. That is,
when she abruptly walked off the stage and did not return.
Monica sang the remainder of a solo set, and the
audience was sent home without hearing the duo's iconic track
The Boy's Mind, The Boy's Mind, The Boy's Mind. So
(51:35):
fans speculated that she was frustrated with the sound, but
Brandy revealed that the actual reason is because she was dehydrated,
and the Instagram post on Sunday, she wrote, I sincerely
apologized for the abruptly into last night's performance in Chicago.
After weeks of NonStop rehearsals, last night, I experienced dehydration
and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone involved the greed
(51:56):
that prioritizing my well being was of the most importance.
Deeply and grateful to my sister Monica for stepping up
with such grace and professionalism, and to the entire crew
for their continued care and support.
Speaker 5 (52:08):
Oh man, that's crazy.
Speaker 6 (52:10):
I hope she feels better, because feeling like you want
to faint on stage is no joke.
Speaker 5 (52:14):
You get hot, the lights.
Speaker 6 (52:15):
Are super bright, the roar from the crowd, even do
something to your body like it's a bit overwhelming and
the anxiety rises high, especially when you feel like you
get ready to pass out, because you don't want to
fall out on stage. All right, y'all, Well, we're gonna
wrap up the hospital on that note. But for more
information on these stories and more, you can go to
Ricky Smiley Morningshow dot com and you can catch me
on all my social media. So so Brad, It's the
(52:36):
Ricky Smiley Morning Show.
Speaker 11 (52:37):
Aunt John, this Monday time for the State of Black America.
In this morning we have the current president of the
National Urban League, Mark Morriale. Hey, good morning months to Mark.
We happy to have you and I know it's a
lot going on in Black America.
Speaker 21 (52:50):
Good morning, Ricky, Mark MORI o here again with the
State of Black America. And this morning, I want to
say thank you very much to the people of Memphis.
I spent two days in Memphis last week, and I
especially want to give a shout out to Russell Wyginton
and the National Civil Rights Museum for honoring me with
(53:12):
their Freedom Award. The National Civil Rights Museum is at
the site of the Lorraine Hotel where doctor Martin Luther
King was assassinated on April fourth, nineteen sixty eight. The
transformation of that hotel into a spectacular monument to the
civil rights movement is something you must see. It is
(53:32):
worth a visit to Memphis. What they've done there creates
a chronicle and an ability to tell the story and
the stories behind the stories of the courage and fearlessness
of men and women who in the forties, the fifties,
the sixties, and the nineteen seventies fought for civil rights
and human rights in this nation. I urge you to
(53:54):
see it. A big thanks and a congratulations to my Coanorease,
but especially to the team at theNational Civil Rights Museum
for their great welcome and for all of the people
that showed up for a spectacular gala. I also want
to thank the Mayor of Memphis, Paul Young, and the
Mayor of Shelby County, Lee Harris, for their welcome and
(54:15):
the conversations that we had. Memphis is a great American city,
no doubt, with some challenges. Those challenges are not going
to be met with an invasion of the National Guard.
And while the leaders there have to navigate carefully due
to local politics and state politics, let me make it
perfectly clear there are better uses of the National Guard
(54:38):
than to put them on patrol in major American cities.
In my experience, the National Guard has been used for
hurricane response and national disaster response, used to provide protection
for major special events like Super Bowls and the light
There's a role for the National Guard.
Speaker 5 (54:57):
This is not a.
Speaker 21 (54:58):
Role for the National Guard. The better approach is to
provide those resources that cities need to be able to
confront the issues that they face, the quality of life.
Speaker 5 (55:09):
Issues, the issues that lead.
Speaker 21 (55:12):
To an environment that sometimes may not be as safe
as we want it to be. But also, let's be honest,
gun violence is a problem all across America, with fifty
thousand people losing their lives each year. So let's not
get distracted or deceived that simply putting the National Guard
and patrol in our American cities is a solution to
(55:35):
the challenges we have. No, it's more about performative politics
and revenge politics, and that is what it is.
Speaker 5 (55:43):
Stand up strong.
Speaker 21 (55:44):
The people of Memphis, stand up strong. The people of
Chicago stand up strong. The people of Washington, in Portland
and all of the cities beyond. Our cities are great
places with great people and showcase the best of what
this nation has to offer. Re out this is the
State of Black America. Following me across all social media
and I'll see you next week on the radio.
