Good morning, Hey, good morning, Ricky Smiley into Ricky Smiley
Morning Show.
Speaker 4 (00:27):
Family.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
You know I love you. I'm praying for you. I
praise God.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
For you, and again, just thank you so much for
making me laugh even I don't feel like laughing.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
People pray for y'all.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Because they say y'all are crazy, but you know I
love you so here it is the same song is
The question is by the Whinings Man. We go way back,
Ricky Smiley, way back. The question is Listen. There's a
line in the song that really gets me. After he
says the question is will I ever leave you? The
question is?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
I mean, he just goes on and oh.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
But then he's says, I'm presenting my body a living sacrifice.
All I'm gonna do is the will of Christ. Listen.
After you discover what God has done for you, the
question becomes what are you going to do for God?
When you know that God loved you, when you know
that God has forgiven you, when you know that God
(01:21):
has graced you and been merciful to you, It's one
thing to get all of that from God. The question
is what you're going to do for God. The Bible
puts in like this, prgent your body as a living
sacrifice holy, an acceptable unto God, which is your spiritual
service of worship. And be not conformed to this world,
(01:42):
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Listen,
that's all I'm trying to say today, and that is
knowing of God's commitment to you that has been expressed
over and over and over again. What you're gonna do
for God, Here's what the wine is say. I'm going
to present myself as a living sacrifice. I'm going to
(02:05):
give everything i am to God. I'm going to live
my life for God. I'm going to put God first
in my life. I'm going to live for God in
such a way that basically, and here's what a living
sacrifice is. It's what doctor King meant when Doctor King said,
if you haven't found something worth dying for, you're not
(02:26):
fit to live. Listen, it's worth dying for it. To
give your life to Christ, because that's when you show
enough live. When you give your life to Him, you're
willing to die for him, give it all up for him.
Your life becomes fulfilled. You experience abundance and power and purpose.
(02:47):
And so that's the word I'm dropping in everybody's spirit today.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
You know what God does for you?
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Here's my question, what you're going to do for God?
Speaker 3 (02:56):
God bless you and y'all have an amazing day.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
That is not hay it's man to sing. You have
the Frinchier West Missionary Baptist Church. Let's get it in
this business.

At a press conference, Delta State's director of Public Safety

saying his loved ones and the community deserve the truth.

Rock te The sports genius is in the building.
Speaker 9 (05:10):
What's up, ladies and gentlemen. Thursday Night football went down
last night. The Buffalo Bills beat the Miami Dolphins. Buffalo's
three and zero and the Miami Dolphins are oh and three.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yes.
Speaker 9 (05:20):
And when you when you're oh and three and you
start a season, Dad can do a couple things to
the morale of the locker room. He could be like,
hey man, we got plenty of season left, or uh oh,
here we go again, and he can just go downhill
from there. We'll see what happens man. WNBA playoffs went
down last night. Two nailed by their games. I don't
know if y'all watching this, but the Indiana Fever eliminated
(05:40):
the Atlanta Dream eighty seven to eighty five. They advance
to the next round behind Kelsey Mitchell's twenty four points,
and then the Las Vegas Aces hold off the Seattle
Storm to advance to the next round as well. Both
of those games went down to the buzzer. New England
Patriots star wide receiver Stefan did E Sin is finally
opening up by his girlfriend Cardi b.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
And the planet. He says, he's excited.
Speaker 9 (06:06):
Man, he's hoping for a baby boy and uh he
and Cardi are considering Spanish names. Brigingy Tack.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Okay, you know what I'm saying. It is what it is.

Speaker 11 (06:50):
But we bring you music, movies and more. So let's
get off into it, well, y'all. Chris Brown unexpectedly do
You activated his Instagram account this week, following him back
and forth onlineing change about colorism. He deactivated his page
after he shared a video of himself performing his steamy
take It Down dance routine with media personality Kayla Nicole
(07:11):
during the Los Angeles stop of his Breezy Bowl tour.
That take You Down was a big old hit back
in two thousand and seven, and the dance routine sparked
conversations about colorism. After kaylern Nicole, a brown skinned girl
who is also the ex girlfriend of NFL star Travis Kelce,
representing brown girls in her remarks well, she posted a
message stating I did this for the smart girls, the
(07:34):
cool girls, the sexy girls, the fun girls, and I
overly did it for my brown girls.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
Thank you.
Speaker 11 (07:39):
Her post led to many people accusing Chris Brown of
having a preference for lighter skinned women. Now that prompted
Breezy to address the controversy directly. He wrote miss me
with that colorless rage baiting, but he quickly removed the
message and deactivated his account entirely, and in a final
post before signing off, he expressed frustration, I'm gonna take.
Speaker 6 (08:01):
A break from social media. Y'all do to piss me
off long enough.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
So, okay, I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
You have a choice to do whatever sun you would
like to do about whatever you like to do it
about it. That don't mean that you dislike light girls
are dark girls because you do a video about brown girls.
If you would have did one about dark girls, than
the brown girls and light girls and bills that didn't

Speaker 6 (08:26):
You just can't win.
Speaker 11 (08:27):
He bring all kinds of girls on stage, He get
him out the audience. Sometimes they light, sometimes they dark.
I guess because this young lady wrote that this was
for she did it for her brownskin women. It just
brought more attention to, hey, you did it for your
brown skin women. Chris Brown don't even like brownskin girls,
but yes he does. Like leave this man alone.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Can he do his tour and can he just do
his thing? Please? Something that somebody else said?
Speaker 2 (08:49):
It's falling on him every day.
Speaker 6 (08:51):
Yeah, now he a colorist.
Speaker 1 (08:54):

Speaker 11 (08:55):
What is that you can't even do? You can't do nothing.
He can't do nothing.
Speaker 6 (09:00):

adding that even though a relationship may seem perfect to
the public eye, that is seldom the case.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Ricky, Oh lord, I.
Speaker 15 (31:40):
Hope I feel it's the divorce right now, he said.
He said, if you're okay, we're working through the hardship
and the adverse moments, then it will make it worth all.
He went on and say, he said, we've been together
since high school. So he said, kyk ain't always gonna
be a bed of roses in any relationship, let alone
someone you're living with.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Honey. Oh well, y'all, beautiful twenty years now, missus James said, y'all.
Speaker 15 (32:03):
To keep to making his twelve year marriage with Savannah
work is communication, revealing y'all that it takes the top
spot y'all on their list of priorities, he said, being
honest is number two and y'all number three. He said, like,
you have to be okay with being uncomfortable in relationships sometimes,
and you can't always have it your way. It's not

(32:26):
I said, oh my god, y'all, but they're sending the
basketball legend joke that the famous phrase happy wife, happy life.
He said, it's real, he said, before trying to come
up with a similar phrase that applies to the husband,
happy husband, happy loving.
Speaker 2 (32:41):

gonna continue to make it and sustain a marriage, because
his marriage is not always easy.

That's all he's saying.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
Everything he said was one.
Speaker 6 (33:25):

Speaker 9 (34:02):
It's not perfect, but that doesn't mean the marriage is
breaking up. You go through peaks and valleys, and that's
what makes it wonderful, beautiful in valleys and mountains. The
valley's making peaks even more.
Speaker 4 (34:15):

Speaker 2 (38:56):
Listen, man, he is not just a pastor. Here is
a powerhouse and gospel music.

Wait a minute, month Time Stoller O Ward winner and
the voice behind some of the biggest anthems in the game.
Right now, he's bringing faith and fire and real talk
everywhere he goes maw. Y'all make some noise for the
one and only pastor Mike Junior.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
That's up, everybody. I'm in the building. In the building,
I'm in the building.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
And then let me let me let me just say
this right here, man, what you have built at Rock
City is absolutely amazing.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
I was down this past Sunday. I didn't come into church.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
Man, what that little nine o'clock in nine o'clock he said,
in and out? And you know you got that other
so you got and then Gary he mixed up. Man.
You know they be singing, you know, his songs on
a different song. Boy, he'll hear the old school man
once and something about, well, what's the.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Man with the dreads braes bravist.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
Oh my god, almost ran up on stage and talking
and they front the back wood was a Florida.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
He got that Floyd at them tell him to stop,
you're gonna do that? And it seemed like it seemed
like they know they know what I like, and they
kind of look over that.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
Scene and.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
Not the law.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Kept me and the and the floor be shaken. You
can feel it, Garrett, please come go with me to
say to get up and here. You just need to come.
This is a mix between like Church and Chris Brown.
We try best to give something to everybody.
Speaker 17 (40:24):
You know.
Speaker 10 (40:25):
One of the best parts about being from Birmingham, Alabama
and being raised old school is that you realize, yes,
you want something that everybody can feel. But it's those
songs that got us here, man, and got us saved
the old school the old school songs, and man.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Thank you for not forgetting about the school, because the
new stuff is great and we love them. But man,
when you reach back and take somebody back in time,
because the music, it's the only thing that could take
you back in time.
Speaker 10 (40:50):
I tell everybody, gospel music is the only genre of
music where the message plus the melody equals a miracle.
And I tell everybody the reason the music is powerful too.
It's not just because of the annoying but sometimes your
music is tied to your memory. And so when you
hear these songs, it takes your memory back to where
you were, and it almost makes you retrospectively reflect and
it just takes you in.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Man. So I need everybody to fly to Birmingham, Alabama
on the Sunday.
Speaker 10 (41:14):
Riki's there. He get the walking, Oh yeah, get the praising.
If we get that here every morning.
Speaker 8 (41:23):
I can only imagine.
Speaker 7 (41:24):
I can only imagine, because we get that praise break
in the morning and it will make you cry.
Speaker 5 (41:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (41:29):
Now, let me ask you, was there a specific moment
when you knew you were supposed to step into the ministry?
Speaker 2 (41:34):
Absolutely? Man, I never forget.
Speaker 10 (41:36):
I come home from college and a friend of mine
was murdered and I'm at the house just chilling and
trip and I kept hearing the Lord called me to
do something. I told my dad but that I think
God's calling me to start a church. And my dad,
I just I love him so much for this. He
literally said, if God's calling you, let's step out. I
went to the Fairfield Civic Center. I had twelve hundred
dollars in the bang. I paid my rent up for
(41:58):
like six months. It's charging me one hundred dollars maybe
fifty dollars an hour, right, And so literally I stepped
into that room put twelve hundred chairs out because I
felt like God was calling me to say my generation specifically.
And I think about seven or eight people showed up,
you know. But I was so excited because I never
forget seeing like a seventeen year old kid just crying
and walking to the altar. And from that day I
(42:19):
was like, no, this is what God called me to do.
And I tell everybody, man, I'm in purpose. And somebody
told me yesterday said it looked like you just having fun.
It's because when you're doing what God called you to
do and you free about it. It's a level of
freedom that comes with it. So that was the moment
for me that forever changed my life. Before he asked
your question, your brother is he younger or older?
Speaker 2 (42:38):
He's younger than me. Man came with that word Sunday
he can go and your dad, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
Heard him preach the other So he came over the
pastor Bryant Church, absolutely and preaching. But he kept referring
to your man. Talk about your grandparents for a minute.
Speaker 5 (42:52):
Man.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
That that that really blew me away, Like y'all have
generations and generation of ministry. Yeah. So my grandfather just
passed the way.
Speaker 10 (43:00):
He was the last person to see doctor King alive
in the city of Birmingham, Doctor Martin Luther King went
moving Birmingham without my granddad. So he walked with Shuttlesworth
and abernati En Uh, so many of them. So we
come from a lineage where I tell everybody when we
went to my grandparents' house, we didn't run the streets.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
They would line you up and say all right, pull it.
Speaker 10 (43:20):
They get on the keyboard a piano. On Christmas, everybody
gotten around the scene. I didn't get a chance to
run the streets. You know, I was at every service.
Here's a service Gary Bright might not know about. I
was at Sunrise service.
Speaker 16 (43:32):
You remember the.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
Yeah No my God challenge across Yeah, I.
Speaker 10 (43:38):
Went to funerals and didn't even know the people, just
we just downstairs eating the chickens. So it just means
so much to me to come from a family where
my uncle's are pastors. My grandfather, my great grandfather was
a pastor, and I think it's just something that God
calls a family or cause a body of people to
the blessed people.
Speaker 15 (43:53):
Absolutely so, Pastor Mike, when you're not preaching all performance,
So what does a regular day look like?
Speaker 2 (43:58):
In Pastor Mike's like, Oh, man, a regular day, you know,
come come around my house. He could right behind. So
for me, I tell everybody, and this is what means
a lot to me.
Speaker 10 (44:13):
I'm so grateful God did this for me in my
late thirties early forties, because I wouldn't have been able
to balance it earlier. So for me, Man, God allows
me to pass this great church, travel the world doing music.
We literally just shot a movie yesterday. I've been shooting
a movie for the last two days and still not
miss nothing. So a regular day for me is carpool
(44:34):
line picking up the kids. I'm gonna be if it's
three dads at the high school football practice, I'm gonna
be one of them at the fence making shure. The
boys see me playing PlayStation. I love my PS five,
so I'm gonna be on the game with the boys.
So for me, it's and again Rick can attest to this.
Being from Birmingham has a way of grounding you, Like
we can't be Hollywood from Birmingham like you, he said
(44:56):
in his stand up, and it was the best part
of his stand up to me. He was like he
was on the float and everybody was like, we love you, Rick.
And then he got to Vernon and said, boy, if
you don't get your skippa that like, I will literally
go to the store in Verman Like what did.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
Nobody care about you? Singing Martin Luther king Head. I
was like, oh, here we go. Let me go back home,
Let me go back home. So crazy that we have
all the stuff that we still get roasted.
Speaker 1 (45:17):
Hell, get real, we we if we go to North Birmingham,
we go in a certain store, we're gonna get roasted.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
You know, they're saying I understand that prince would never
be a prince in his own home. Always. I think
they do they do it with love us love. Think
of Memphis people.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
They do it to Memphis people. That's that's the whole thing.
By they call me Ricky, Ricky, Mike, don't get new
on me, now, don't get new on me. I was like,
come on, man, I'm famous.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
Now. Man, it's pastor Mike. You boy, call you no pastor.
I remember, like be crying. Black people will remember right,
don't go anywhere more.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
Coming up with Pastor Mike Jillian and he got an
important message that you do not want to miss up
Nick with passing my junior athlete.
Speaker 2 (46:03):
Is I know that there was the important question that
you had on.
Speaker 7 (46:06):
Your heart for somebody listening who feels like, you know
they messed up too much for God to use them.
Speaker 8 (46:11):
You know, what's your word to them?
Speaker 10 (46:13):
I was tripping the other day, man, because my wife
was doing laundry, and in doing laundry, she told me
that's the biggest hustle that she got Right now. She said,
by the time I get through getting doing all the laundry,
I walk away with so much money, she said, might
keep be having money balled up in pockets, and I
thought she just loved me. She was like, oh no,
I'm gonna get me something. But she had me weak
because she was like, I had this jacket. It was
(46:35):
my favorite jacket, but I'm put on a little weight.
Can't wear it no more. She went and got it
from downstairs and just found almost like two hundred dollars
in the pocket. It was crinkled, it was rough, it
was ugly, it was half torn. She took that money.
She did a little thing we do in the hood
called iron and she was like, no, I'm gonna go
to the store right now. And what blessed me is
as old as raggedy, as torn as that money was,
(46:57):
it's still valuable. And what people have to realize right
now is that God called you knowing you. You know,
God knew I was a fool when he called me.
He knew I had a child out of wedlock, He
knew that I had an attitude, he knew that I
was broken, he knew that I had insecurities, and he
still called me. If you look at the Bible, we
have to stop praising these characters as if these fake heroes.
(47:19):
David had issues Daniel had issues, Jonathan had issues. And
if we get to a point where we realize God
wants us just as we are, we'll be okay. So
if I can encourage somebody right now, I don't care
where you are. You can be listening to us from
a prison right now, in that prison sale if you
open your Bible. God specialized in jail house visits. So
(47:40):
if we can just get to a point where we
get over ourselves and forget about the people who are
so judgmental and just come to God, everything will be okay.
Speaker 1 (47:48):
Ooh, you gotta break off with that. God specializes one
morning you remember that? Yeah, gone, see before I won't complain.
Got hot back in the eighties. God before that. That
God specializes them the ones you stretch your grandma And
he said, take you remember remember your growing get happy.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
You have to sit it out there and take her
glasses off. She gets the rocket. Yeah, get the rockets.
So now we're gonna do the lightning round. It's just
my fun right here.
Speaker 18 (48:13):
Now.
Speaker 10 (48:14):
What's the first song you ever learned word for word
that wasn't gospel? Oh, my God, here we go. I'm
ready for this. It was late night. This is back
in the day when the radio station used to come
on late and you could call in and give it
a request. Infatuation by Jamie Foxx. I sung that song.
I ain't gonna say the name because she may still
be alive, she may hit me in the d M.
Speaker 1 (48:34):
But with that.
Speaker 2 (48:40):
Infatuation all right. So what's the one food you can't
live without? Nachos?
Speaker 10 (48:44):
Okay, I got that, not even expensive nachos, gas station
cold cheese, dip it in nachos.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
Come on, man, if you could do a dream.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
Collapse outside of gospel, who would it be with Drake? Okay,
that's my favorite myrd. That's a lot of nurse. Favorite
cereal of all time? Hey, you get this wrong, now
we're gonna break it later.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
Here we go. Favorite cereal all time.
Speaker 10 (49:09):
There's so many you can pick from, but being from Ansley,
I'm gonna have to go with the Captain crunch Man.
Captain Crunch is my favorite cereal of all time. Crunch
Berry Crunch, Captain Crunch with the crunch, the crunch Bear,
the red and Blue ones, and you gotta drink the
milk at the end, you gotta drink flavor for we
(49:31):
didn't have Captain Crunch and Ansley. But we knew that's
what it was supposed to be. Yeah, we knewhip. Hey,
here's your new song, turning Around. Tell us about the
new song. Man, this song is special to me. Man,
we sat down at the piano. I just wanted to
ask questions. We do a lot of talking to people,
(49:53):
we don't ask them questions. So in this verse, it says,
have you ever been down so long that you couldn't
get up and you don't know what to do?
Speaker 6 (49:59):
So?
Speaker 10 (49:59):
I just wanted to I had the song that I
felt people could relate to. It's called turning Around. It's
going crazy on social media right now, and I think
it's gonna.
Speaker 2 (50:05):
Bless you y'all ready.
Speaker 14 (50:08):
Have you ever been down so on that you couldn't
look thing, you don't know what to do? You ever
cry so on and you couldn't find stream? Lord, just
want to make it through. Have you ever call some
one and a damn pig come now?
Speaker 6 (50:23):
You don't know.
Speaker 4 (50:24):
I'm from truth.
Speaker 14 (50:25):
Have you ever prayed so hard and you feel so
like your prayers didn't hit the roof? Tell them my
nose one that'll come and take a Lord of Mama said,
we called chant, Hold if you got a problem, help
hold that.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
I know that I turn it around. He's gone turn
that around.
Speaker 4 (50:49):
I'm gone turn it around, me turning up.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
You ever had a big bag but they win real fast?
Now you're looking for play.
Speaker 14 (50:59):

Speaker 2 (51:02):
Now your heart is steel away.
Speaker 14 (51:04):
Have you ever been so sick and the daughter's couldn't
hell though you find you for another day?
Speaker 2 (51:10):
Have you ever bit your tongue when you knew they
was wrong? Lord, help me fix my face. Tell them
my norse.
Speaker 14 (51:18):
One that'll come and take a little off Mama, say
we call him, Say.
Speaker 2 (51:23):
If you got a problem here, hood, I'm.
Speaker 18 (51:26):
No dad, I scoff on turning and round. Man, he's
gone turn it around. Scoff On turning around and needs

My passor Mike. But anybody that's going through it today.

Speaker 10 (52:20):
This past week, man, I was staying at the Intercontinental
right here, and went to the room, went downstairs, grabbed something,
and he came back upstairs and couldn't get in my room.
Speaker 2 (52:28):
I'm frustrated.
Speaker 10 (52:29):
I go to the lobby. I keep telling them something's
wrong with my key. They fix my key. I go
back to my room. I still cannot get in my room.
At this point, I feel like the devil's playing with me.
That treat me like I don't know what's going on
in my life. I go downstairs get a key for
the third time, and she asked me, are you at
the right door? We have been traveling so much I
have forgot which room I was at. Yeah, I'm at
(52:51):
the wrong door. And somebody listening to me right now.
You're frustrated because you feel like God hasn't done it
for you yet. The question I want to ask you
is are you at the right door. It's one thing
to fall in love, but are you at the right
person that can give you back what you need? It's
one thing to apply for a job, but are you
where God wants you to be? And this season of
your life is not just about God opening doors. It's
(53:12):
more about are you standing at the right doors? Oh,
that's deep right there, that's dead right there. My room here,

Speaker 6 (01:04:24):
Better with Kendrick Lamar.
Speaker 11 (01:04:26):
However, Lebron is making it clear that he still has
plenty of respect for the rapper. Drake recently covered the
tattoo of Lebron his high school jersey that he had.
He covered it with an Oklahoma City Thunder star shot
Jill shot Gilgus Alexander's jersey.
Speaker 6 (01:04:44):
During a three sixty interview, though with Speedy Mormon.
Speaker 11 (01:04:47):
While things seem to be icy between them, he said
he still got love for King James.
Speaker 6 (01:04:51):
Here's what he had to say. Someone you have been
friends with seemingly forever, Drake, Are y'all cool?
Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
What's the status?
Speaker 5 (01:04:58):
There?
Speaker 16 (01:04:59):
Is this someone you always have up for.

Always, always always wish him the best obviously different places.
Right now currently he's doing this thing. I'm doing mine,
But it's always love for sure.
Speaker 6 (01:05:12):
Yeah, well that's what's up. I mean, yeah, yeah, Drake.
Drake was just offended he got the tattoo covered up.
Speaker 11 (01:05:18):
I mean, if somebody, if you still love somebody and
