Ricky Smiley and the Ricky Smiley Morning Show family. This
is the Bishop himself, Marvin Sap And I'm grateful to
have this opportunity to be able to share and to
be able to pray with you all, to declare and
decrease some things over our lives as we move forward
in this particular season. So let's go before the throne
of Grace, Father, in the name of Jesus. In spite
(00:44):
of the challenges our nation is facing, the unrest, the anger,
the fear that we find ourselves in, Beloved Father God
that sits high and looks slow, we want to begin
this day with gratitude. Thank you, Thank you for life,
thank you, thank you for health, thank you for family
and for hope. But Lord, we also want the wisdom
(01:06):
in this climate where words are being.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Used as weapons.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
God, we pray that you would guard our tongues rather
that we do not curse our own futures or damage
our brother or our sister with careless speech. Help us, Lord, God,
help us to speak life into our communities, encouragement into
our families, and hope into our nation. Father, released favor
over our today and open doors of opportunity, restore broken systems,
(01:35):
and let righteousness rise in the land. We declare that love, gratitude,
and grace will shape the way that we live as
well as the way that we speak.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Thank you, Thank you, Lord, Thank you, Thank.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
You for causing us to recognize and realize that we're
not out of control, but that we're in control.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
It is Friday, September twenty sent Here's what's going on
in the news of Virginia. Grand jury as indicted former
FBI Director James Comy on charges of lying to Congress
and instructing justice. Now he's accusing him of misleading while
he's being accused of misleading lawmakers about the FBI's Russia probe.
Comy had confirmed the Bureau was investigating possible Trump Moscow
(03:02):
ties while privately keeping notes on his talks with Trump.
All those moves and raised Trump and cost Comy his job.
Here's what Trump said yesterday.
Speaker 6 (03:12):
I can only say that Koby's a bad person.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
He's a sick person.
Speaker 7 (03:17):
I think he's a sick guy.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Actually, Trump fired him in twenty seventeen, blasting him is
the worst leader in FBI history. So Comy fired back
with a book claiming Trump demanded loyalty like a mob boss,
tried to sway the FBI, and obsessed over the pe
tape rumors. Remember that Chicago may Or Brandon Johnson blasted
(03:38):
Trump over the endictment, and if it were not for Jesus,
we might have heard something different.
Speaker 8 (03:43):
I really want to.
Speaker 9 (03:44):
Call him a name, but my Lord and save for
Jesus christis asking me to just stay saved.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
In other news, TikTok will continue to operate in the
US after Trump signed an executive order yesterday. The deal
facilitates the sale of TikTok to a group of American investors,
so the app's US operations will be run by a
new company. TikTok's current owner, China based byte Edance, will
hold under twenty percent of the restock in this new company.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
So TikTok is not going anywhere.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
But the real danger might not be losing the app,
it's in losing your perspective. Psychologists say what you follow
online could be shaping how you see yourself in the mirror.
Research shows social media is strongly tied to eating disorders
and unhealthy habits. The images and accounts we scroll every
day end up defining what we think is normal. Psychologists say,
(04:36):
hit unfollow on pages that make you feel bad about
your body, skip the toxic feeds, and maybe give yourself
a break from scrolling altogether. For info on these stories
and more, Gudrickismiley Morning Show dot Com.

heat up a little bit.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
And Bryce may be better than Brown. Yeah, yeah, I
agree with that.
Speaker 10 (05:27):
Bryce may be better than Bronnie. So can you imagine Bryce,
Bronni and Pops all playing together at the same time.
Speaker 1 (05:33):

Speaker 12 (06:59):
And here's what she had to say.
Speaker 13 (07:01):
You know, I'll do these things on Instagram where I
see a picture on Instagram and I'll say, oh my god,
I remember that night we left the shoes and we
had two left shoes, and she wrote, she walked the
red carpet with one and so it's kind of behind
the scenes stories, but then there's a lesson than every
one of them.
Speaker 12 (07:18):
Oh, I love that. That's gonna be pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Would y'all be interested in hearing what's going on, what

and golfer Nellie Corter. So congratulations go out to Kim
Kardashian and Nike. That's kind of like the perfect combination
(08:27):
because her stuff is like fitted and it's.
Speaker 12 (08:30):
For like body supporting stuff like that. So what you
think about that, Ricky?
Speaker 2 (08:35):
I mean, they already got some bad stuff. I'm just
so excited about that.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Have you ever been to the Nike store in New York?
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yes, yeah, yeah with that basketball goll the women's collection,

Stuff, full outfit.
Speaker 14 (09:03):
Man.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Yeah you really can.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
So if you are like a Nike collector like I am, Uh,
that's that's good stuff.
Speaker 15 (09:10):
Man.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Butt them to come out with some dope.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
They got jeans, they got church clothes everything.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Now yeah, Nike.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
He got got like little suit coats in the in
the pants and the dress pants and all that stuff.
Speaker 11 (09:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
So that's what the people that's running for Jesus scared, Wow, Jesus.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
And got tired yeah, come on now.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
And last but not Lisia, y'all, did he return the
court yesterday and he is seeking to overturn his two
convictions for transportation related to prostitution. The defense attorneys argue
that Diddy's intent for freakosts was voyeuristic, not for profit.
Prostitution means one person paying to have sex with another person.
Speaker 12 (09:53):
However, did he was.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Someone who paid to watch two people have sex voyeurism reverse.
Speaker 12 (09:58):
The sexual pleasure game forching.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Others while they are naked or engaged in sexual activity.
His defense team says that the escorts participated voluntarily in
private recordings of Prosecutors counter that Didy orchestrated and profited
from the encounters of directing sexual activities and transporting individuals
across state lines. So senencing his schedule for October third,
(10:23):
with Diddy's legal team requesting a sentence for no more
than fourteen months, which would effectively account for the time
already served.
Speaker 12 (10:31):
All right, y'all, we're gonna wrap up the hospital of
that note.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
But for more information on these stories and more, you
can go to Rickeysmiley morningshow dot com and you can
catch me on all my social media.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
So so Brett Afrad this good morning, Good morning, Ricky.
Listen to this.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
I know this is near and dear to your heart
and many of us here on the show.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Just a year after student died.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
During Omega Sci Fi's intake process at Southern University in
vat Rouge, the fraternity's caught up and yet another hazing scandal,
this time at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
According to a lawsuit, student rap Fiel C.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
Joseph says members of the new Ata chapter beat him
so badly.
Speaker 12 (11:07):
Sorry, take it to.
Speaker 16 (11:13):
Okay, freez get a teller.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Yeah, I'll read it. I don't have no problem reading
and I'm a cue. According to a lawsuit, student Raphel C.
Joseph says members of New Ada chapter beat them so
madly during their April twenty twenty three hell night that
he needed emergency surgery and a blood transfusion.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
In months of rehab, he later dropped out of school.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Joseph alleges that from December twenty twenty two through April
to twenty third, fraternity members attacked them multiple times on
and off campus.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
The abuse reportedly sent.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Them to the er twice, with one incident leaving him
hospitalized for nearly two weeks with bruised ribs and muscle damage.
The lawsuit names on Mega soft Fire, University of Southern Mississippi,
the interium, associate director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, and
several chapter members as defendants as as as defendants. Joseph
(12:18):
claims that he reported the hazen to the university, but
nothing was done. He's now suing both the school and
the fraternity for damages. And uh uh, I'm a member
of this uh organization and uh and I just want
to say for the record, Omega soft Fire was not
founded on this stuff right here. This is not what
(12:41):
our founded, set forth and founded out great organization owned.
And then what has happened was gang members with the
game mentality somewhere at some point have infiltrated our great
fraternity and started.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Doing stuff like this.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
And it's like you paying dues and up, and we
can't really do a whole lot of stuff in the
community we like to because we forever paying for lawsuits
and attorneys. One insurance company is representing the Divine nine
and once that insurance company pull out, it will be
no more. So keep putting your hands on people. I
(13:18):
spoke about this at the undergraduate summit in South Carolina
and Columbia South Carolina some years ago.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
If I'm not mistaken this with well, I.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Think it was either Atlanta or Columbia South Carolina or
the unopposed the keynote speaker.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
And I said, it's a matter of time.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
It's just a matter of time that somebody gonna go
to the trunk and get a stick and wipe out
a whole chapter for putting your hands on people, Stop
touching pledges.
Speaker 11 (13:48):
Stop.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
If anybody want to be your brother, why the hell
would you beat him? Why would you beat somebody that
want to be a brother and be a part of
your organization for what? Because the man if he make
it to college. You know how many people grew up
with their stepdad being on them, and being on their
mom and and and coming from abusive situations just to
even make it to college and wanted in looking for
(14:13):
a brother and a father figure and a fraternity like
I found. I found brothers, I found father figures, I
found nephews, I found little brothers in the fraternity. I
found it. And I'm happy with them and I love them.
I love them.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
On the shield and off the shield.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
I don't even have to talk about on making stuff
when I get around certain brothers because our relationship is solid.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
I don't have to throw up the hooks. I don't
have to grip up nothing.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
Just a relationship that I have developed over these twenty
five years. And to see stuff like this, when that
little kid I played the trumpet, I was.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
I was the young man that.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
He reminded me of Caleb remind me of myself playing
the trumpet in the band, and wanted to be a
member of a make us our five fraternity incorporated. I
don't understand it. I don't know what happened. I don't
know who these people are and how they have infiltrated
our great organization, our great organizations all over the country.
(15:12):
Different fraternities and different sororities are being kicked off of
campus for violating hazing policies.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
What do you want us to do? Yeah? You know, Ricky,
I know a couple of people you represent a you're
a member of Doctor Sigmund Theta.
Speaker 17 (15:26):
Yeah, And I know a couple of people pledging right now,
and I have some serious conversations with them, saying, you know,
if you feel like you are in harm, like for real,
for real, just leave, get out of there. When you
want something so bad, and people have that in their
possession already, these pledges are doing all they can to
get what they want to get.
Speaker 12 (15:47):
They're trying to reach that goal.
Speaker 17 (15:48):
And when you have that power over someone, if you
don't know how to, people abuse that power.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Yeah, well yeah, exactly.
Speaker 17 (15:55):
Yeah, And so that's what happens when you really I
don't judge the people who go through it because they.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Really want to make it. They really trying to get
that gold. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
And it ain't just about the Greek letters, you know,
t J. It's about some of the connections that you
have once you get into your adult life or whatever,
and is meaningful and it's helpful to you, you know
what I'm saying. But but this stuff, it just has
to stop. And we're going to be talking more about it.
Thank you, TJ. Mor Rica smod in the Morning show
coming up.
Speaker 12 (16:22):
I have to do something to break up a Guinness
Book record. I had to make sure that her name
was going to be unique.
Speaker 17 (16:28):
I didn't want her name to be like anybody else.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Make sure it is her nails.
Speaker 12 (16:31):

Speaker 9 (17:11):
It's Friday, a beautiful, beautiful day in the neighborhood, y'all,
And here's what's happening in celebrity news. Serena william y'all
is speaking out it and a lot of people are
listening to what she had to say.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Now.
Speaker 9 (17:21):
Now, Miss Williams said, honey, you know she spoke out
after she found figuring y'all a cotton plant decoration at
a beautiful New York City hotel. Honey, Now, Serena said
it just did not feel right. She said, it doesn't
feel great to see cotton being used as decoration. Now,
this is what she said. She said she spoke out
after noticing y'all at decoration and people were wonder like girl.
(17:41):
But miss Williams took the social media with a video
y'all up to the core of they's holding a cotton
plan on a table, y'all in the hallway, and she
asked her followers for their thoughts about the display. She said,
all right, everyone, how do we feel y'all about cotton
as decoration? And then they went on to say Serena
spoke out horney about the decoration, said it doesn't feel
(18:02):
great at all now. The tennis start asks her Instagram
people about there, and you know, she examined the material
out from the decoration and made an uncomfortable face as
she walked away. So how would y'all feel? Because she
said personally for her, it doesn't feel great now. She said,
it doesn't feel great. Nine the second post this tendant,
so you know, she spoke to the cameras and she
was holding the piece of the cotton used in the
(18:23):
decoration and she told her views it feels like Neil
polished remover cotton, she said, and it touches and she
touched it and she said it made a cringe. How
do y'all feel about Because my dad is from Cotton Port,
Louisiana and we used to when we used to go
to Louisiana to my grandparents' house, we had to pass
the cotton fields and stuff.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
But I mean, I didn't, you know, really think much
about it. Do y'all?
Speaker 9 (18:43):
Did that make you feel a certain way when you
see cotton as decoration?
Speaker 6 (18:47):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (18:48):
Yeah, my Dennis has like cotton decorations. I had to
find a new dentists the first time I went in there, Like,
I don't like that. I don't know, you know, just
for me, I don't.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
It's a sensitive issue because it made black people go
out and pick cotton for years.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
And it's a very very sensitive, very very sensitive issue.
And to have that in whit white. Can't you have
no other kind of plants? How about flowers?
Speaker 11 (19:10):
Like?
Speaker 14 (19:11):
What?
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Why?
Speaker 7 (19:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (19:14):
It's racist to me? Yeah, I wondered. They and bold
that they just do what they want to do.
Speaker 9 (19:20):
Yeah, and it's a high end I'm sure, the very
high in five star hotel in New York. So but
you know, but she said she didn't feel a certain
kind of way. So she, you know, asking people how
they feel about this. So we're going to see how
that turns out. Honey, because we love Serena and we
want to definitely hear what she had to say with
her viewers and listeners and followers had to say about that,
all right, Moving on in Undeleber in New y'all, Candy
(19:42):

Real housewife in Atlanta starting her daughter new Next GENU
NYC daughter. They laughed about Candy strict childhood. You know,
when she was a little a little girl, she said
her mama made her sign a contract when she was
a little girl. She Rody said that her mom used
to make her sign contracts as a child to keep
her accountable. I can't just says y'all at the tactic work,
(20:06):
and that Raleigh was an incredible good child. Now the
mom and daughter says their entire relationship was wonderful and
that they love doing the things together.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Now.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
You know a lot of people say, you know, that's
training the child. What happened, But she said when she
would ask some mom she wanted an Xbox and the mama.
Speaker 9 (20:21):
Toa but hunt, you gotta sign this contract and you
got to make good grace and you have to do
well on the swim team for a year. If you
don't do god, do well on the swim team, I
get to take the xbox and throw it away. So
Robley said, she did well, and you know she went
on to n YU. She graduated four years honey, and
she did great. And you know now she's doing her
thing as an actress.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
And what happened and people saying this all good?
Speaker 9 (20:43):
So do people y'all still therecause y'all parents do y'all
still have y'all kids like sign contracts or makeup pack
where if you do well, you get this or do
you just say you're gonna do this and that's it.
Speaker 5 (20:53):
Yeah, I just tell them I do a pack and
I put it on top of the fridge so he
can see it every day.
Speaker 16 (20:59):
Right.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Really, So that's not like I'm like a former child abuse.
I mean that's a stretch. Well you know everything that
child abuse.
Speaker 14 (21:08):
Now.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
I mean you look at the kids grew up. Oh
thank you. And it didn't kill us. Look at us,
it didn't kill us?
Speaker 9 (21:20):
Yeah, it sure it did, honey. And they said, well,
don't have to say we don't hurt you, don't kill yourself.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Yeah, man, forget about their feelings, man, say what you
need to say as a parent. You don't have to
be mean about it, you know, just shouting your kids
to do better and do what you're supposed to do.
And that's it. That's it. That's it, yep, Because I mean,
train a child while he's young and then when he
grew up. Here go not depart from this. Oh wow,
(21:46):
all right.
Speaker 9 (21:46):

This is the original Alfrida from Beuty calling the wake
Up Black Black Tony, are you sleep?
Speaker 10 (23:02):
Get your egg?
Speaker 19 (23:03):
Double crooking letter, but wake up, wake up, wake wake up,
wake up, Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up?
Say new We need wake up, wake up, wake up.
Speaker 12 (23:25):
Appreciate You're welcome.
Speaker 11 (23:26):

Speaker 10 (23:36):
Yeah, it's time to fix it Jesus with comedian riad Up.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Brent, welcome back to the show, right tell.
Speaker 11 (23:43):
You this up?
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Good morning, good morning.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
In the.
Speaker 18 (23:48):
What of y'all?
Speaker 17 (23:49):
What up y'all?
Speaker 18 (23:49):
So listen.
Speaker 17 (23:50):
You know, I'll be trying to take a break from
the news, but every once in a while something comes
across my timeline.
Speaker 18 (23:55):
I don't know if y'all saw this, but we need
Jesus to fix it.
Speaker 17 (23:58):
This morning, a very well known politician at a press conference,
he tried to denounce Thailand all for pregnant women. And
let's just say the pronunciation and explanation struggles were real.
Speaker 18 (24:09):
Okay, let's take a listen.
Speaker 6 (24:10):
Effective immediately, the FDA will be notifying physicians at the
use of I said, well, let's see how we say that.
I said a menifin menifin said okay, which is basically
commonly known as thailand all during pregnancy can be associated
with a very increased risk of autism.
Speaker 7 (24:33):
So taking thailand all is uh not good?
Speaker 18 (24:39):
Not good?
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Okay, all right?
Speaker 18 (24:42):
Can you all pronounce the word? Y'all know what you're
trying to say?
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Okay, there we go. Anybody else? Can anybody else say?
Speaker 18 (24:51):
Close enough?
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Here?
Speaker 18 (24:52):
That's about eight.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
I'm gonna go with talent, all right.
Speaker 18 (24:58):
I'm just saying, like my is, if you can't pronounce it,
you shouldn't announce it.
Speaker 17 (25:02):
He don't talking about the active ingredient is to see
the medaphine and uh, listen, there is actually no evidence
that taking tailand all or a ced meniphane during pregnancy
causes autism and children.
Speaker 18 (25:14):
So they're just up there talking crazy. But I got
to think and maybe he thought.
Speaker 17 (25:17):
You know, he was remixing Missus Elliott's song work it,
and next time he does a press conference where he
has to pronounce something hard, he should just put this
music in the background so it won't be so bad.
Speaker 18 (25:26):
All right, here's my suggest isn't hurt, don't serve, but
the bill now that be rehearsed.
Speaker 7 (25:34):
This don't take I said, I said, jovin minifit.
Speaker 16 (25:40):
Nurse I'm not a doctor, but I ain't gonna hurt.
Speaker 6 (25:44):
Don't take that, said Jovin, I said an NFL that
said Jovin Minifin.
Speaker 7 (25:49):
Well, let's see how we say that.
Speaker 6 (25:52):
The Minifin said, okay, he's commonly known as thailand all
during pregnancy can be associated with a very increased risk
of autism.
Speaker 7 (26:04):
So taking thailand all is uh not good to it.
I'll say it's not good.
Speaker 6 (26:10):
For this reason, they are strongly recommending that women limit
tyler and all use during pregnancy unless medically necessary. That's
few cases of extremely high fever that you feel you
can't tough it out, you can't do it.
Speaker 7 (26:25):
I guess there's that. But if you can't tough it out,
if you can't do it, uh, that's what you're gonna
have to do. You'll take a tail and all, but
it will be very sparingly.
Speaker 18 (26:39):
Arsed.
Speaker 7 (26:40):
Don't take it, I said, your asset of Minifin.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
I said, I'm not a doctor, but I ain't gonna hurt.
Speaker 6 (26:50):
Don't take said the asset off. I said anfin.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Bars I literally listening, Oh man, that's what I about dropping.
Speaker 17 (27:09):
You can't pronounce it, don't announce it. That's all I got, y'all,
that's it Jesus reading.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
How can people follow your mind at read.
Speaker 17 (27:17):
A break comedy? R I T A B R E
N T company y'all holler at your girl and keep
sending me stuff. I appreciate you sending me clips. Man,
appreciate job.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Okay, they come back on just that quick.
Speaker 11 (30:02):
So what you say you whether you went in the house, y'all?
Speaker 20 (30:06):

Speaker 8 (30:22):
What I fol Carrie to put you to sleep on YouTube?
Speaker 1 (30:24):
That's exactly what you're playing.
Speaker 11 (30:26):
Is that what it is?
Speaker 8 (30:28):
Hold on? Say don't hang on? Hold on.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Hello? Hold half man half mooning?
Speaker 12 (30:36):
Yes, Gay, you want to help you to the tea.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
It's Gary.
Speaker 11 (30:42):
Morning.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Shown is about that time Gary has the tea in
the colude that day with up Gary, Good.
Speaker 9 (30:47):
Morning, Ricky, good morning America, Good morning. The You's Friday,
A beautiful, beautiful day in the neighborhood. And here's what's
happening in celebrity news, y'all. Miss Janis, y'all, Miss Jane's
comes the beautiful mother y'all of Shawn did comes?
Speaker 1 (31:00):
You know, Ricky? She is speaking out, honey.
Speaker 9 (31:02):
Now they're saying that that Janie's comes to mom of
the jailed rapper, Sean.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Did he come?
Speaker 9 (31:06):
She penned a letter y'all to the judge ahead of
him being sentenced, y'all, and she's pleading y'all for mercy.
Speaker 13 (31:13):
Now.
Speaker 9 (31:13):
In missus Janie's letter, she admits, y'all that her son
has made some terrible mistakes, but still believes that he
should be set free from jail when he is sentenced
on October third, So market calendars now. She said, quote, Unfortunately,
my son has made some terrible mistakes in his life,
which I.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
Know he recognizes.
Speaker 9 (31:31):
Part of you know the letter that's with read in it,
She said, quote I will never excuse any wrongdoing committed
by Sean.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
I was always very strict with him growing up.
Speaker 9 (31:41):
I appeal y'all to the kindness of your heart to
allow my son to be able to sit at a
dinner table with his family, to allow him to raise
his children and to instill in them the need to
be respectful, getting an education, and just be God's children
with love in their hearts.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Y'all?
Speaker 9 (32:01):
Isn't that beautiful When a mama write a little to
the judge and you know, she says she know her
child did wrong. You know a lot of parents don't
admit to their kids did wrong or do wrong and something.
She said she just want her kids to just to
send the table with their dad and they to have
a good meal and to talk about, you know, what's
coming next in their lives.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
I think that's very said. I'm very empathetic, you know
with miss Janis.
Speaker 9 (32:25):
You know, because Sean, I mean, did he do anything
but present baby all and the stuff that they said
he did.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
He didn't really kill nobody or do nothing. So I
think the judge should just let him go through. Y'all.
Are y'all in't agreeans? Because when two or more in
a agreeance that a scripture gonna do it, I'm gonna
go to hell. I don't know what he did. I wasn't. Yeah,
we weren't there. We don't know.
Speaker 9 (32:51):
When is the hearing October. The third reading is a
market calendar. Yeah, they'll probably let him go home. I
believe you think how to get what do you think
they're giving time served?
Speaker 12 (33:03):
I don't know. It just depends on how the judge feel, right.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
I didn't realize the judges have so much power that day.
The judge that's why they had that black robe and
set up on that throne.
Speaker 12 (33:14):
Really gamble.
Speaker 9 (33:17):
Yeah, well we're hoping Prayer could have got those twins
and they went to the prom and they did.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
It wasn't there there to dress himself. And then he
got his son Christians and.
Speaker 12 (33:28):
They grown enough to get dressed and they have they have,
they have family Gary.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
They they got to get them dressed for school, walking
to the school bus and they liked the rent car.
Speaker 15 (33:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
I'm just trying to be talking like they wear they.
Speaker 12 (33:53):
Beautiful Gary, and they have help. They have a family,
they have you know, stylists, they have you know, they're blessed.
Oh yeah, they're Okay.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
The grandmother that got tired of them children, that's what
it is.
Speaker 7 (34:04):

Speaker 9 (35:09):
Yeah, so but she is if she is exactly because
I mean at two years, that's a long time the
day of person, you know, and then you know to
go ahead on and have a baby, because some people
have babies right off the back of it. I don't
know how much Pat poos, how much money is, but
I know she's doing good for herself and what happened
or so, you know, if he could help out in
some form of fashion with her with the baby, congratulations

if this turns and be fruitionized that a word making
that words? Don't you sound You're gonna have your own
dictionary in a minute, okay, and then my quick for
free stole y'all. They're still talking about ray j. He
said he snitched to the fence Huney about the Kardashian

and so he should have snitched. But he should have
been snitching Dabby when he was making those tapes with her.
Now she's filthy rich, honey, he's scuffed for money, but anyway,
that's neither hear nor idea.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
And can't scuffling for no money. Now that's funny.
Speaker 9 (36:05):
Well he showed on half hers he ain't got damns
so honey, if you don't have that money, you're scuffling.
So honey, he could have been filthy rich and having
all kinds of skims and all kind of stuff out

Speaker 12 (36:42):
Did you see that post?
Speaker 1 (36:44):
People are talking?
Speaker 8 (36:46):
Here's what's on.
Speaker 10 (36:47):
The Ucky Smiley Morning Show. Oh yes, the Rickey Somebody
Morning Show. Now, let's welcome our special guests to the studio.
It's about to go down, man. He's an award winning producer,
motivational speaker, New York Times best selling author. He's also
known for his inspiring perspective on faith, love, and purpose.
His new movie Ruth and bow Ass premieres today on Netflix,
(37:10):
and he's here with us today.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
Y'all giving up for our brother Devon Franklin in the building.
Y'all glad to be here.
Speaker 12 (37:19):
Man, We are so happy to have you here. I
saw the screening last night.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
It was so so, so good. Everybody did so great
in the movie.
Speaker 16 (37:28):
I mean, I was moved.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
I didn't know what was gonna happen.
Speaker 11 (37:30):
It was.
Speaker 12 (37:31):
It was just good.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
I just don't I don't want to give it away.
But we'll talk about your movie in just a few minutes.
So we're gonna talk. We're gonna also talk about Soraya
and Tyler lef start in the movie.
Speaker 12 (37:40):
They did great too.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
But first, some people say, you're a pastor, right, and
we've seen your present on social media. They're amazing. They've
moved all of us and changed our lives. But do
you pastor at church?
Speaker 1 (37:51):
No? No, never have you know I've been. I've been
preaching since I was fifteen.
Speaker 9 (37:55):
Wow.
Speaker 15 (37:55):
But my main job has always been in Hollywood. I
started interning for Will Smith and was eighteen years old
when I went to college, and then I interned for
him and his company for four years, and when I graduated,
I was an assistant in his company for James Lasseter
and then I became an executive for about twelve years.
Nice and then I've been running my own company for
about eleven years now.
Speaker 9 (38:15):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (38:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (38:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 15 (38:16):
So you know, the preaching has always been something that
I've done on the side. My younger brother is a pastor.
He has a church in Oakland, California called The Incredible Church.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
Yeah. So it's in the family. It runs in the family.
That's right.
Speaker 9 (38:27):
When a movie was going off, going was over, and
I said, was it Franklin at Von Franklin and Jail,
I was screaming, all right, that's right, let's go.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
Congratulations on this film and your new marriage. The wedding
pictures look fabulous.
Speaker 15 (38:44):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
Let me ask you something. Is it true that you
met your wife through a mutual friend? Yeah?
Speaker 15 (38:49):
It sure is, Yep, yep. Mike t He is a
trainer in Los Angeles and they were working together. And
I've known Mike and trained with Mike for years, and
you know, last March.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
I believe it.
Speaker 15 (39:03):
Once I got a call and he was like, yo, man,
what do you think of And he sent me Maria's
IG profile and he said what do you think of her?
Speaker 1 (39:09):
And I'm like, oh, she's stunning, she's amazing. And he
was like, that's what she thinks about you? I said what.
Speaker 15 (39:15):
And our first date was brunch Easter Sunday of last
year and we've been together ever since. Very very special.
Speaker 9 (39:23):
I wish I had some mutual friends. But anyway, sob
so we know that you had a pretty public divorce.
So but can you share what you learned from your
first marriage?
Speaker 1 (39:36):
Yeah, you know, it's interesting.
Speaker 15 (39:38):
It's like life imitates art, art imitates life, and also
art gives you a chance to express and explore what
you go through. So when you look at even this
film Ruth and Boaz, you know, for me it was like, oh, okay,
what I learned is the path is always love. It's
always love period. Like at the end of the day,
no matter what you go through, no matter what heartbreak, heartache, pain,
(39:59):
trauma or tragedy, to get back to where you know
you can be, it's love loving yourself. And and for me,
the thing is, sometimes we go through things and we're
hard on ourselves, absolutely, and we're harder on ourselves than
other people. We will let anybody be that hard on ourselves.
We talk to ourselves worse than we would let anyone
talk to us. So love starts with ourselves saying Okay,
(40:20):
I'm going to get myself grace and space to say,
you know what this happened.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
I'm going to get through this. I'm going to keep
my heart.
Speaker 15 (40:27):
Open and to be able to have the opportunity to
create arts, to create a movie that also, in part,
you know, is part of the creative and healing process.
And so when you see Ruth and Boaz in this
film and what they're going through, you know, I developed,
you know, the story and the script and produce the movie.
And it was just very cathartic to be able to
have an opportunity to express and explore what I feel
(40:50):
about love through this.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
But you know what, brand is an advocate of love. Honey.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
You know you have to open up you are otherwise
it won't come to you if you got a closed heart.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
Gary, come on, Gary, come on, man, put some love
on your tea.
Speaker 10 (41:11):
It's the Rasony Morning Show and our special guest today
is producer, director, and best selling author Devon Franklin. His
new movie, Ruth and Boas is now streaming on Netflix.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
Go ahead, Black, So your new movie Ruth and bow
As premiere's Today on Net.
Speaker 1 (41:25):
Yes, that's a big deal.
Speaker 4 (41:27):
What inspired you to work with Tyler Perry and connect
with him to create this film?
Speaker 11 (41:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (41:31):
It was such, I mean beautiful experience.
Speaker 15 (41:34):
A couple of years ago, I had done a film
called Flaming Hot about the creator Flaming Hot Cheetos, and
it came out on Disney Plus and Hulu and it
did very well. But coming out of that film, I
had no production deal and I didn't know what my
next movie was going to be. And then I get
a call out of the blue from Tyler Tyler Perry,
and he was like, yo, you know, I hear you're
in this conversation with Netflix, and you know, why don't
(41:56):
we partner up and why don't we make faith based
movies together? And I said, wow, yeah, let's do it.
And we negotiated, you know, a really great deal and
with a lot of autonomy to be able to make
the films that we believe in, that I believe in.
And the thing about Tyler Perry, which is so amazing,
is he, you know, basically has given me the opportunity
to use his lot and here in Atlanta, which is amazing.
(42:18):
I mean, it's one of the most dynamic lots in Hollywood.
He has an incredible you know, production executives and staff
that he's like, man, whatever you need to make this
movie great, I'm going to give it to you. And
so for he and I to be partner on this
was so important and grateful. And you've never seen two
black men of faith in Hollywood partner up make uplifting content.
Is it the first time that's ever happened?
Speaker 14 (42:39):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (42:39):
So beautiful, so excited about this.
Speaker 5 (42:42):
Let me ask you, do you see this film as
a way to make faith based stories feel more relatable
for today's audience?
Speaker 1 (42:49):
And what do you hope people are going to walk
away with? Yes?
Speaker 15 (42:51):
I absolutely think. I mean when you see Ruth and Boaz,
you know, and you all seen it, there's nothing preachy
about it.
Speaker 11 (42:58):
You know.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
If I was shocked about it, I.
Speaker 9 (43:01):
Rout and boys from the Bible, and I was like, okay,
but it wasn't what I thought, take right right exactly today?
Speaker 15 (43:09):
Yes, and we really just wanted to keep it relatable
and authentic. And so yes, I do believe that this
will help faith based movies feel more realistic and more authentic.
And the other part about this is that most faith
based movies do not tend to be stories you know
about us, that are that are for us, that star us.
This is one of the first faith based movies that
(43:30):
has ever been made in Hollywood, that it was made
by us and stars us, and so it's really important,
you know, when we look at the future, you know,
of faith content to you know, black folks are the
most faithful, come on now, and to not have movies
and content that represent that is a missed opportunity. And
that's something that that's a void that I'm committed to feeling.
Speaker 1 (43:51):
That is awesome. Most of us grew up in church,
you know, That's that's what we came from, right, But
we grew up so quick, just quick quick. So the
movie was made in the day, in twenty days of Tyler. No,
I don't know.
Speaker 15 (44:09):
Listen, you don't play that brother can shoot and I
a man, God bless him. I've been on set with
him and I still don't understand. I'm one of the
stars of Divorce SSS and so he's directed me, and
I still don't understand how he can shoot sixteen episodes
in nine days.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
You can do a lot in a little bit of
time when you are efficient and you're playing.
Speaker 4 (44:27):
Well right and Felicia was shot? Oh god right, oh
my god, legend.
Speaker 18 (44:33):
We love her.
Speaker 4 (44:34):
I can't wait for everybody to see this movie. It
is so absolutely amazing. It's so good, it's so good,
and it's so positive, but not in a fake way,
you know, it's authentically good, like just.
Speaker 12 (44:46):
Seeing seeing him. Okay, I can't.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
Okay, oh man, I love that.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
So exciting to tell us even a little bit more
about the Cass Brad mintioned Bleacher, Germaine dupre Tyler Lepley
of course, Siria, just what an amazing cast?
Speaker 1 (45:04):
How did you cast them? What made you cast them?
And just you know, give us a little insight into that.
Speaker 15 (45:09):
We auditioned over one hundred people for each, one hundred
women and one hundred men. And you know, Sorea hadn't
come in yet to audition, and I did a show
with her on BT called Kingdom Business, and so I
called on my Sorea, please come in on this, and
she didn't want to do another music project. I said,
I she's saying an empire saying yes. So I said,
(45:30):
I understand, but I said this is going to be different,
and so she said okay, and she came in, she auditioned,
and the moment she auditioned, we were like, there's Ruth.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
And then we had been it. We knew it. It
was just it was obvious.
Speaker 15 (45:41):
And then we had been auditioning a bunch of a
number of Boazes and we had a couple guys that
were in the running for the part. At the eleventh hour,
Tyler Lepley sent in a self tape, which basically means
you do it yourself with no direction and you send
it in the moment I saw that, I said, there's
boass and then we did a chemistry read with them
and they're Kim Street was just off the charts, so
we knew that was that was gonna work. And then
(46:03):
when Felicia Rashad, we just thought like okay. I thought like, okay,
who could play that you know, matriarchal part because she
was you know, she is, you know, our mother, America's mother,
and so I sent her the script. She read it
and immediately was like, yeah, I'm in. She loved the part.
And then when you talk about cameos from like Babyface
and Jermaine Dupree and Lacrae and Young Jack. Because the
(46:26):
movie is music driven and in Atlanta and Atlanta. You know,
we knew we had to get JD. So I Dmedi.
I'm like, bro, I got this movie. This is what
I got. This is the money I got because you
just come through for day and he was like that,
I'm in and he was just like the easiest, coolest thing.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
Same with Babyface.
Speaker 10 (46:43):
