Speaker 1 (00:03):
Ricky Smile Show show. This is the Ricky Smiley Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
God rents up brand new mercies every single morning. So
I was working past to John Hannah, the senior pastor
a majestic Life church in Chicago, a good morning past to.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Handle what's happening in bro Ricky, Bishop of the syndicated
Ricky Smiley Morning Show ministry. This is beast Anna for
Chicago and I have been sent to pray.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
What am I pray for today's success? Why? Because failure
is not an option.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
So God, I prayed that you would give us a
Joseph Annoy to me that wherever Joseph was put, he
had success. I asked God, that you give us exactly
what we need, that we can do what we're supposed
to do and it represents you, because you.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Are the god of success us. You're the God of victory.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
And I pray that we will represent you in every
aspect of our life success and our home success, on
our job success, in our ministry success wherever you go.
And we know that it comes from you. You say
we have not because we acts not. So today we
acts that you will give us success, that whatever the

(01:24):
soul of our feet tread. You give us success and
we ask this in Jesus' name, God bless you all.
I'm excited about being a part of the Ricky Smiley
Morning Show. Keep up Alive and if you're in Chicago,
come and check our brother out A holler and.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
We appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Past the Hannah A and I was Pastor John Hannah Singior,
the pastor of New Life Prevident Church, Southwest Church in Chicago, to.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Usus entertaining on the Fricky Smiling Morning Show.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
I got page right here and afraid of Good.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
Morning, Good morning Ricky. It's Friday, October SI. Here's what's
going on in the news. Different day, same government shut
down drama. The Senate once again shut down a Republican
backed spending bill.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
It's the tenth.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Time lawmakers have tried to pass that same bill. Meanwhile,
Senators held a procedural vote on a measure to fund
the Department of Defense, but Democrats blocked it. They are
pushing instead to open talks about extending subsidies TYE to Obamacare.
Over in the House, Nancy Pelosi is trending after a
heated exchange with a reporter. The reporter asked her if

(02:31):
she refused national Guard request during the twenty twenty one
Capitol riots.

Speaker 6 (02:36):
Shut up.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
I did not refuse the national Guard. The president didn't
send it.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
Why are you coming here with Republican talking points as
if you're a serious journalist. That reporter was from Lyndelle TV.
The outled run by Trump's supporter Mike Lindell and then
their senator Mitch McConnell. The eighty three year old Kentucky
Republican literally tripped after a reporter asked him about ice busy.

Speaker 7 (03:00):
Say my name is Stella. I want to ask do
you speak morning?

Speaker 1 (03:08):
People? Off the stream and kidnapped Rember.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
He uh fell right to the ground, but aids helped
him up, and then he gave a quick smile and
a wave to the cameras. His latest stumble has reignited
debate over age and term limits. Critics say too much
power stays in the hands of politicians well into their
seventies and eighties, while some others argue experience still matters.
Mc connell did announced earlier this year that he's not

(03:39):
running again, following several falls and a few on camera.
Health scarers for info on these stories and more, gotta

Speaker 8 (03:47):
Now here's a look at sports Rotzi.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
The sports genius is in the building.

Speaker 9 (03:53):
What I mean is, ladies, gentlemen, I don't know if
you guys watched Thursday night football. Last night, the Cincinnati
Bengals pulls off the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Two
forty y old quarterbacks going at it, Aaron Rodgers or
getting Joe Flacco.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Look both played well.

Speaker 10 (04:08):
Man.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Joe showed everybody.

Speaker 9 (04:09):
Look, y'all non believers out there can still think that
I ain't got no magic left in the tank.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
He threw three touchdowns.

Speaker 9 (04:14):
Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions,
and those turnovers cost the game. So Cincinnaty won thirty
three to thirty one, keeping their hopes alive. College football
a couple of key matchups this weekend, LSU and Vanderbilt,
Oh Miss Georgia, USC got knowed, Dame you taught? And
b y you all eyes on Tennessee Alabama? Rick, who

(04:35):
you got?

Speaker 1 (04:36):
I got Bama? Why I got Bama bout ten Why? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Because I'm depending on the quarterback and the defense is
really stepping up. I think they're gonna have the defensive
steam that's gonna slow down Tennessee's powerful, powerful offense who
has a great offense.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
And I just think they have their companess up and
they're balling right now. I know de got chemistry.

Speaker 9 (04:58):
I know defense wins chim being ships at the end
of the day. But this is gonna be one of
them situations where that powerful Tennessee offense is going to
outscore Alabama.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
So I got.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Tennessee defense stopped Tennessee deefense stop Alabama.

Speaker 9 (05:10):
Off Hey, that's what I'm saying. It's gonna be one
of the high scoring Alabama it's gonna be one and
and they're playing in Tuscal. It's gonna be one of
them games that could be high scoring and whoever got
the ball last to win it. But I got Tennessee
getting this one right here at Big Dog.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
All right, we're gonna we're gonna see yeah and they
and they hurt you loud and clear and tusal its appreciated.

Speaker 6 (05:31):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
What up?

Speaker 4 (05:37):
What up to your snook?

Speaker 1 (05:40):
An Alabama game?

Speaker 2 (05:41):
The tickets asked to an Alabama game, and the folks
fed him and showed him a good time.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Now, go ahead, now you want to be disrespectful.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Yeah, they've never been to a Tennessee game a day
in his life. But go ahead.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
That's how about y'all.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Drop it like it's hard, Drop it like it's hard.

Speaker 10 (06:02):
Spot.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
It's all of aten.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Alright, having a hot spot. What up the brats?

Speaker 4 (06:11):
What up the ricky goodwebody im your girl. Brats had
tatt and this is the hotspot. But we bring you music, movies,
and more. So let's get off and do it. As
we previously reported, Snoop Dogg sparks some controversy in August
when he said he was thrown for a loop when
he took his grandkids to see Light Year back in
twenty twenty two, and two women were depicted kissing and
raising a child together. Snoop even said he was scared

(06:33):
to go to the movies after that. Then he suggested that,
you know, kids don't need to view such content. Now,
Snoop Dogg is no longer uncomfortable with couples in the
LGBTQ plus community being portrayed in children's movies, and he
even puts something in his own children's series. So y'all,
Snoop is teamed up with glad. He teamed up with
them Thursday for Spirit Day, which has meant to show

(06:55):
support for the LGBTQ plus community youth and he explained
why he feels it's nest said to represent gay couples
is animated kids showp Doggie Land. He said he want
the children to understand that all families are special in
their own unique ways and that love has no bounds.
And here's what Snoop said.

Speaker 11 (07:12):
Love is Love is a record that my kids program,
Doggie Land presented me. Whereas the song where it's teaching
love is Love is teaching a parenthood, is teaching the
situations that kids and the world is going through right
now in a beautiful way through song, dance, melody. These
are things that kids have questions about, so now hopefully
we can help answer these questions and you know, help
them to live a happy life and understand that love

(07:34):
is love. It's a beautiful thing that kids can have
parents of all walks and be able to be shown love,
to be taught what love is because hate is taught
and so is love. And I think that being able
to have parents of all walks of life, whether it's
two fathers, two mothers, whatever, it is Love is the kid.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
That's a good job. Yea beautiful would you say? Mamy
will make you the track?

Speaker 2 (08:02):

talks to step into the road of Ricardo Rico Tubbs,
who was played by Phillip Michael Thomas in the television

(08:49):

A beautiful, beautiful, beautiful day in the neighborhood. And here's
what's happening in celebrity news, y'all.

Speaker 13 (16:04):
Jennifer Lopeys, Honey, I'm a little little tipped with miss
low Pez, but I'm gonna let y'all figure out why.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Now she reported y'all that the singer and ask you, y'all,
she has locked lips.

Speaker 13 (16:12):
She talked about, honey, she locked lips, y'all with a
lot of actors, and she's talking about her best kisser.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
Now they're saying that Miss low Pez, honey.

Speaker 13 (16:20):
Yeah, she loved this with the likes of George Cooney,
Matthew mcconnie and y'all, Oween Wilsea, y'all in her rom
com rolls. But honey, Miss low Pez now is kissing
and she's telling now. During that periodall she was gonna
watch what happened Live recently with Andy Cohen and the
single you Know and Are is fifty five years queenz
y'all about her favorite on screen smooch during the late
night talk shows plead a field, w y'all love that say,

(16:42):
But now they saying, honey, she said, we got we
have George Cooney, Matthew McConaughey, Ralph Fines, Richard gere Owen, Wilson,
Josh Lucas.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
It goes on and on and on.

Speaker 13 (16:50):
That's what Miss Cohen said of low Pez's previous rom
com screen partners. Plus y'all ever saying the movies which
are you know, definitely you can watch Honey and everybody
talking about ohaha mo, which I ain't so no number.
But anyway, she said, I'm gonna say my favorite. I
just did a movie with Brett Goldstin, and I say
he was the best casser. The kiss y'all of the
Spider Woman star was Honey, referring to the past upcoming

(17:12):
romantic comedy throughout y'all office romance. Now low Pays confirmed
y'all that she was starting in the movie opposite Ted
Lasso star gold Steam, which is forty five years old.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
You know, she talked about this movie so but a.

Speaker 13 (17:23):
Lot of people are saying that I'm saying to how
dare she get on national TV and talk about the
best kiss that she had? And damn we would have
not known that if it wasn't for Didny. She kissed
him and she was saying nothing about it. So why
would you sit there talk about all these other dog
men of non color.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Didd He wasn't an on screen kiss. That was a
relationship she was in.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Well still held he was the best kisser. I'm sure
I think you said on screen when you well, I
did say on.

Speaker 13 (17:48):
Screen, but they talking about everything, and talk about all
your damn kissers. Don't just talk about the one that
you want to. Don't have selective memory, talk about all
of them. And so that man is in jail, honey,
serving time, and you're gonna sit there and just over
skate hill.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
Scary if they asked about orange screen kisses, she's telling
you about the orange screen kissing.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Ricky.

Speaker 13 (18:05):
If somebody kissed you on comic view and all this
other stuff and then they don't want to tell about
it and talking about it, would you be offend? Because, honey,
if you were the person that gave them their kiss,
I wasn't her first kiss?

Speaker 1 (18:16):
Did he was not?

Speaker 5 (18:19):
And I think she's trying to promote this movie, so
that's why she's saying he's the best kiss so people
will go.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
See and look at the kiss before? What about to
do she was married to first? What about the dancer
that she was dating? What about you know kisses?

Speaker 13 (18:33):
Yeah, but my point is we didn't know them Philips
until it was for Diddy. No, that's from there, Okay,
that was she was the fly girl. After the fly
Girl was over and nobody knew how.

Speaker 9 (18:47):
You forget about Selena what I was after it that
after that was her breakout roller.

Speaker 13 (18:54):
That might have been her breakout roll, But we didn't
know her until did it put on the Sea when
they was brother hunting from the car.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Remember, she was already a star when I first started
working with the et, she was already a start.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
And I remember did it coming on the set to
see her? Uh stuff?

Speaker 2 (19:12):
No, she was alread deumastating, probably the first start to day,
but she was already a star.

Speaker 13 (19:17):
Well, I didn't know, but I didn't know until he did.
It was running she was in that Versiti dress that
put her on the map. And honey, and and that's
how I knew who was the one to the party.
We already knew.

Speaker 8 (19:28):
She was already doing music, she'd already done.

Speaker 5 (19:32):
If you had My Love You member. Oh yeah, that's
where they met. Actually was on the set of that video.

Speaker 13 (19:37):
I think, oh really, Well, still I didn't know who
she was, but she should at least a knowledge, did honey,
honey all the kiss and did it? Indeed got to
acknowledge him. Well, people are angry about it, and people
are talking about you. Moving on Celiberty news, y'all Megan,
No Stallion baby her house started to say Honey, he

But what I'm just saying, so she she had to
wear the look that she had to wear her and
she was with her mother in law, her future mother.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Why she wore to look Gary. She wanted to look
because she liked it when she looked in the mirror
before she left her house.

Speaker 13 (21:22):
Well, the people are talking, I mean, think about our
free Would you wear that look that you wear now

Speaker 8 (21:27):
What is that supposed to mean?

Speaker 2 (21:28):
What does what?

Speaker 8 (21:30):
I don't know what you mean?

Speaker 2 (21:30):
What?

Speaker 8 (21:34):

You Gara.

Speaker 20 (31:13):
The club the other day, get Ray, Good morning, Ricky,
Good morning America, Good morning the US Friday. A beautiful, beautiful,
beautiful then in the neighborhood, and here's what's happening in
celebrity news, y'all?

Speaker 1 (31:25):
They say, running back? Honey, Have any y'all ever ran
it back? Do y'all know what that means? You're familiar?
Geta let's do it again? Yes?

Speaker 13 (31:34):
Well, honey, they're talking about Black China and mister Rob
Kardash y'all. They said, could they definitely be Hunry kending
in their roller coaster romance? And you know, I love
them too together because black Chines, Yes, Black Chines deserve love, Yes,
they say so. Black China, Yah, she took to Instagram
on him. I don't know what you cheat on him
or not, but she had to deal with all that

(31:54):
messmis ignorant, crazy family, so she probably deserved it to.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
Get out and find love somewhere else. An ounce China.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
She was a little too slow for us, But once
you get a little bit older, you like that.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
You want to go back to that.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
Yep, you happen to the guy she was with, the producer.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
Guy Child. He probably an't had no money, and he
looked he.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Did, though he did used a lot of his songs.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Gary you did anyway, honey?

Speaker 13 (32:23):
They said, Blank China, Baby, she took the Instagram hound
in the post of Caro sale honey of pictures of
herself in an all white outfit, baby posing by a
ferrari on the side of the road. They said, what
caught her followers off guard, however, is the captain because
she tagged her ex Rob Kardashian, even though under the
photos don't seem to have anything to do with him,
and she said, quote the love is forever at Rob

(32:45):
Kardashian Official. That's when she wrote baby under the post.
Now every sing at the mall, Yeah, and y'all know
love can't be forever, you know what I mean? Once
you love somebody, they have a beautiful child to get
a little dream, and you know, she had to just
deal with a lot from his sisters because his sisters
were so dark on the good because they was jealous
of her because she was a black woman and they
had all the black men, so had she had to
get to him, the white one.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
So she had to do what she had to do.

Speaker 13 (33:07):
But nevertheless, they said the motel who now goes by
the bird name of Angela White didn't say anything further
about her confusing decision to tag called that, but he
did give y'all the posts alike, seemingly y'all approving whatever
message that she was definitely trying to see, honey, and
she looks amazing. I love Angela White, Honey. She's a
very nice young lady. I've done a couple of events

(33:27):
with Black China and I love her deally. And I
think if she'd get bad robbed, hopefully he got some
money now, because I don't think he did that much
he did. I don't think his socks sold that well.
You know, had his sock line at Nema Margaus. I
don't know if they sold real well, but they She's just.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Saying, it's gonna always be loved between Gary, let's not
jump into it because they are parents to dream, you know, and.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
How many of your parents are somebody and still ain't
in love.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
And that don't mean you in love. She said, the
love is there, you said or something.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
Yeah, the love is there.

Speaker 13 (33:56):
And I mean she may be in love because she
probably realized you didn't search the world and all out
there and Lerod and may worth a nickel, so you
might as well go ahead and get back with Rob
in love Gary, Well, I'm saying she in love with
her because she probably in love with him, she might
be living that.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Man, what Gary, Gary, before you got your apartment, your
apartment came through and you have to stay with Turkey
or twenty.

Speaker 13 (34:14):
For two weeks, two weeks well after it was a
week and a half, and we ain't gonna talk about
that on.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
To stop being messed. Oh my god, just leave that.
A lot of money lead that with there.

Speaker 13 (34:30):
So but anyway, never the last Sney, it was a
wonderful time things. Did you do what you gotta damn
and why would you bring that up?

Speaker 2 (34:39):
I'm just not satting them to let you stay up
till your apartment got clear to get this stuff off
your credit.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
So that's all right.

Speaker 13 (34:46):
The baby is clean, well it's almost clean, but anyway,
it's close to it.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
But anyway, moving on, Honey, I'm just sliving lose Ricky.

Speaker 13 (34:54):
It's being reported y'all at R and B singer Keisha
Cold maybe pregnant y'all by her cheating wrapperble o.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
My friend, y'all.

Speaker 13 (35:00):
Now they're saying, honey, yeah, they said, they said Keisha
Cole honey is expected allegien. I'm put a legend because
I don't know it's expected a baby with her on again,
off again boyfriend, the Atlanta.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Rapper, how he says his name Brad Huncho.

Speaker 13 (35:13):
Yeah, you got Itouncho, And they said, Honey, the news
has fans and Honey both congratulating and side eyed that
beautiful relationship. Now, a forty four year old Grammy nominated
singer actress has been quietly dated hunt on y'all for
almost a year. And while their chemistry has always been
under now but they said, their romance has always been
messing from the start. Now they're saying, y'all, that Keisha

(35:34):
and Hancho relationship first race I brought when fans realized
just how big the age guy was withhich I don't
think it's a big deal.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Keisha is only forty four years on here, he twenty six.
What's wrong with dad? They said. But the age is
and the onlygy that fans have been talking about.

Speaker 13 (35:46):
They said, Honcho has been very open, y'all about living
a non monogamous lifestyle and has publicly stated, y'all that
he doesn't believe in traditional relationships. Now during the relationship
or during the interview, they said, the rapper at med
y'all that he's seeing multiple women even while being linked
to Keisha Cold now Keisha girl.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
I don't know, but I mean your worst song he
have Brad Help was out, Baby. I never heard nothing
Brad him. Did he have any radio songs?

Speaker 2 (36:16):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
But anyway, they say Honey.

Speaker 13 (36:19):
Nevertheless, all that stuff that went on with Hancho and Keisha,
they said that didn't stop the love Honey, the single
Honey from falling hardfa And they say Keisha made headlines
earlier this year, y'all when she got Hauncho's name tattooed
on her body, baby spogking concern from fans who want
her not to go all in on a man who
wasn't claiming exclusivity. Oh well that I mean just said

(36:41):
that he might be exclusive with her. That might be
just something he just say it just to throw everybody off. Yeah, well,
I don't know, but honey, he's not exclusive with her
in real life exactly. He baby love her and he
just you know how these rappers are, you know how
they are ready, you know they are some of them
just kind of different, and you know they got to
make like they so hard and like they all this
that other, you know, just to sell a record or
to do whatever they do honey, And he's probably being

(37:04):
hard and breast right here, trying to be missing child.

Speaker 4 (37:08):
Ain't nobody paying no attention to Gary child talking about me?

Speaker 13 (37:12):
Bradna try to add hard or nothing like that, Honey.
I mean you see brand and Judy to get the
beautiful beautiful beautiful that ain't hard beautiful.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
But he's low key being ship.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Don't say that brand sarcasm.

Speaker 13 (37:29):
Brad, you no dogs on well, Honey, I'm not, Honey,
We Judy is Honey. You know I'm no siting and
try to be low key on you.

Speaker 1 (37:34):

Speaker 2 (37:37):
Y'all sitod on the morning show, and y'all areg and
y'all go right on cross the street and do this nation.

Speaker 1 (37:41):

Thank you, Brad?

Speaker 1 (38:02):
Why he sha?

Speaker 6 (38:08):
Colodna day had one.

Speaker 13 (38:09):
Of my favorite colorb Coladay is a rainy day on
the high. You say rainy day on the lun just
say beautiful gray from Jesus loves the little children bringing
rainy day. Look all the children of the world, red
and yellow, black and white, we were all beautiful in his.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
Suse, precious, He loved the little children of the world.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Jesus, SA boy, you want nothing saying Mary had a
little lamb.

Speaker 1 (38:42):
Y'all. Y'all can forget me what you see? Did you
see that post? Here's what's tree things on? They show man,
I'm really excited about what's trending this morning.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
Listen, and this morning we are celebrating the power, pride,
and purpose of HBCUs.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
Yes man.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
Historically, black colleges and universities have been shaping leaders, building culture,
and creating community for over one hundred and fifty years.
I mean, from classrooms to campus yards. Hbc US a
more than just schools, y'all. Their movement. We're talking about
where future doctors, judges, entrepreneurs, and artists get their start.
Where you can major in about just about anything but

(39:29):
you minor and confidence, culture and legacy, the energy unmasked,
the homeowners, They legendary, y'all, and the body will they
last a lifetime?

Speaker 5 (39:38):
Yes, Brad and HBCUs produced nearly twenty percent of all
black college graduates in the country and some of the
biggest means in politics, in your team and business. So
when we talk about investing in education, we're talking about
investing in the next generation of excellence. So no matter
which one of the proud HBC used Rouston Nation you

(40:01):
went to, one thing is for sure that experience hits different.

Speaker 9 (40:04):
Man, come morning, you can't even compare man. Today, we
got three special guests. The president of Clark Atlanta University,
doctor George T.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
Frinch j we got. We got doctor Kenny G.

Speaker 9 (40:17):
Dixon, Chancellor of North Carolina Central University. We got doctor
doctor Ruth Ray Jackson, the president of Langston University.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
In the.

Speaker 21 (40:31):
Good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
Hey hey, good morning.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Heavy to hell y'all, Doctor George, I forgot you over there,
Clark Man, that's my friend rock what love docy So okay, okay,
man excited to hell y'all. Thank y'all for joining us.
Uh doctor doctor Dixon. There's been renewed national attention on
HBC used and uh so the question I have is

(40:58):
why do you believe HBC used our vital to our
community and to the country as a whole.

Speaker 23 (41:04):
HBCUs as just mentioned twenty percent of black college graduates
are graduates of HBCUs, and so we have a proud
legacy and history for producing alumni who are going out
and doing amazing things impacting the world. When you think
about the purpose of HBCUs, you know we're founded with

(41:27):
lots of legacy and history from the standpoint of providing
access to our people for education opportunities.

Speaker 4 (41:34):
And we continue on with that legacy.

Speaker 23 (41:37):
Across the country. So we're excited to be able to
produce students and alumni who are going out and making
an impact in this world.

Speaker 4 (41:46):
That's awesome, Doctor Dixon, now doctor Jackson. With the world
changing so fast from technology to the job market, how
is Langston University helping students stay ahead of the curve?

Speaker 21 (41:58):
Good Morning is on the cutting edge of innovation. We
work very closely with the workforce to understand where trends
are going. We make sure that our curriculum is up
to date and that we have advisory counsels who are
helping us decide what is relevant, what is needed in

(42:21):
the classroom. We have students who participate in internships beginning
in their second year, so that they have not only
the classroom knowledge but also the real world knowledge to
make sure that they're competing, whether it's in AI are coding,
or food sustainability. We're making sure that our students are

(42:41):
ready not just for the jobs today, but the jobs
of tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (42:46):
All right, So oh go ahead? No, no, no, no not.

Speaker 2 (42:51):
The Jackson HBC use are famous for their culture, energy,
and community. What's one thing about your campus culture that
people on the outside might not understand until they visit.

Speaker 21 (43:05):
So you will hear almost any HBC. I'm a proud
HBC you graduate as well say that what's special about
our campuses as a whole is that family atmosphere, you know.
But all of that is true at Lengthston University. What
makes us special is where the westernmost public four year
HBCU in the country. We're one of only nineteen Land

(43:28):
grant institutions, and so that adds a special fleet flavor.

Speaker 2 (43:33):
To what we do.

Speaker 21 (43:35):
We have students from all over the country who come
to Lengthy University and create that cohesive campus community that
also has the respects for where you came from, but
also mold you into that special Lengthston lie in when
you leave.

Speaker 9 (43:56):
Yeah, yeah, well I was gonna say, you know, with
some states pushing back against the programs Doctor Dixon, at
North Carolina Central University, how do you continue to promote
representation and belonging on campus.

Speaker 23 (44:08):
Yeah, at MCCU North Carolina Central University, we are focused
on keeping the main thing the main thing, and that
is making sure that our graduates have opportunities for advancement
from the standpoint of internships. As doctor Jackson just mentioned,
we also have research institutes on our campus. We have

(44:32):
two in particular that's preparing our students in the areas
of STEM. We have a Biomedical and Biotechnology Research Institute
as well as a research institute focused on bio manufacturing
and technology enterprise. And just recently we established the first
Artificial Intelligence Institute on our campus, the first HBCU to

(44:56):
do that, And so we are definitely preparing our students
to be successful in whatever career that they choose. And
we are also the only university, the only HBCU in
North Carolina to have a law school, so we're preparing lawyers,
judges in addition to keeping with our mission of preparing

(45:17):
educators and entrepreneurs. So it's a great time that we're
having here at NCCU, and we can see that in
the number of students who are choosing to attend NCCU.

Speaker 4 (45:29):
We have a significant.

Speaker 23 (45:30):
Enrollment increase, the largest enrollment increase and the largest number
of students ever in the history of the university. So
students want to be at HBCUs because they know they
can receive a quality education and that they will be successful.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
And shout out to Clark Atlanta's I have a graduate
out of my house at Clark Atlanta. And does shut
out the miss Porsch of Smiley doing big things. Yeah, yeah,
at Clark Atlanta. Don't don't make no mistake.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
Come on, doctor frenchman.

Speaker 2 (46:03):
Hey, one of my favorite one of the favorite times
that he is homecoming season and I hear the Clark
Atlanta's homecoming.

Speaker 1 (46:08):
This is this weekend one of some of the big events.
You know, the public can attend.

Speaker 25 (46:14):
So we have, of course the homecoming, like you said,
coming up, we have concerts. We have the concert on Wednesday,
we have the step show coming up on Friday night.
We have Saturday, of course the big game, homecoming game.

Speaker 7 (46:30):
We're excited about it, Ricky. We hope you can come
and join us.

Speaker 2 (46:33):
Yeah, doctor french you know you make sure your invitement
we have done so much work together years and years,
for four years and years. And thank you for everything
that you've done to some one of my special interests
at Marinathan Academy with Donald Duke, so we all have
my college connection. Thank you for everything. I'll never forget
what you've done for us to help us with there

(46:55):
with the school. It's been decades now, Ricky, since we've
been helping. Donald has done the marvelous job with the
school and in the Birmingham community. As a matter of fact,
when I thought about this morning, how long it's been.
It's been decades now. When President Sloan was President of
the Morrow. Absolutely, you did a show in Birmingham. I
not forget you said, this is not gonna be funny.

(47:16):
He said, I just take you from the airport and
I'm gonna change my business style.

Speaker 1 (47:20):
Remember that, and you, man, I remember, I remember. Rest
in peace.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
Doctor Albert Sloan was a great one of our great
Mouth College presidents.

Speaker 1 (47:30):
Shout out to doctor Bobby Knight.

Speaker 2 (47:32):
Absolutely man, listen, man, coming up, we're gonna be talking
more about HBCU.

Speaker 1 (47:36):
Experienced man. We want you all to colle and represent
your HBCU. Hit us up.

Speaker 2 (47:39):
At eight six six nine, Ricky, And if you want
to ask awesome college presidents that have taken time out
of the busy day to join us any questions, you
can hit.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Us up at eight six six nine. I c k
e y next amount of Morning show. So so excited,
exciting day.

Speaker 2 (47:59):
It is homecoming see in today we're celebrating all of
the amazing HBCUs and a big shout out boy. My
old boy Shawna just called me in and and just
robe me on Facebook. She said, how dare you not
mention Grambling. We just said all these and we didn't
name Grammy Shauna.

Speaker 1 (48:17):
I'm sorry. There you go. That's from Shawna. Gilbert, your alumna.
Shut out to you.

Speaker 9 (48:21):
Joe can be disrespecting Graham fam like that. Oh no, Monica,
we've been called out from that. Shouting out Tuskegee.

Speaker 1 (48:31):
We got it to shout out to Tuskegee.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
Shout out to you and make sure even if you
don't number to take your kids to Tuskegee. It is
so rich in black history. I'll never forget when doctor Wynn,
mister Wynn Show took me to George Washington Carver's Museum
and George Washington, Carver Grave and Booker T.

Speaker 1 (48:49):
Washington Grave and the Oaks.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
Uh, you know, and the band Cottage and around campus
man uh in the Chappie James Building, loved Tuskegee University
and not to the march in Crimson Pipers or whatever.
So it's homecoming season. The day was celebrating all HBCUs.
And in this morning we got president of Parkland or University,
doctor George T. French Junior and doctor Ruth Ray Jackson,

(49:14):
the president of Langtons.

Speaker 5 (49:19):
And you know, I have a question because I wasn't
lucky enough to go to an HBCU. My mom went
to PREV A and M, so shout out to PV
A and M. But my question is, whenever I'm around
somebody or I meet somebody who went to an HBCU,
I find that they walk differently in the world. And
I don't know if it's confidence in the culture. I
just I see a different walk. So it's a two

(49:40):
part question. What is it about HBCUs that you recognize
in a person immediately? And number two, what would you
say to, you know, a high school senior who's trying
to decide if they want to go to an HBCU
or not.

Speaker 7 (49:56):
Thank you for that question. Thank you mom, go aheadman
president please, oh thank you.

Speaker 21 (50:03):
You know, I would say the difference is that combination
of professional competence but personal confidence that you get. You know,
it's the combination of understanding that you know you are
surrounded by black excellence. Whatever example you want to see,
you will see on our campuses. You know, you see

(50:24):
other people who look like you, who've accomplished your dreams.
They come back, they pour into our students, and that's
what I believe makes a difference. I think another thing
is the opportunity to be a leader. You know, we
we serve students from all over the country, many of
whom come from communities and come from schools where they

(50:45):
may have been the only black person in the classroom
or the only black person you know, in a particular organization.
But at length of the university they get the opportunity
to lead, to not only lead organizations, but to begin
or organizations. And so all of that pours into our students,
and when they leave and they're ready for the real world,

(51:06):
they take all.

Speaker 3 (51:07):
Of that with them.

Speaker 25 (51:09):
That would absolutely add to that. This is Alma Mater
of the Mother at all of these HBCUs. We have
a responsibility more than pedagogy, but we have a responsibility,
society responsibility to holistically raise these students. We raise there
and again Alma Mater Latin for other Mother, which indicates

(51:30):
you have the nurturing experience and not just of parents,
not just.

Speaker 7 (51:34):
Of a mother and father, but of sisters and brothers.

Speaker 25 (51:37):
These are sisters and brothers from around the world in
many instances on these HBCU campuses, and we exhibit black excellence.
If you want to see black excellence, come to Atlanta.
Walk there, Atlanta University Center, Spellman, Morehouse, Clokettland to More
High School in Medicine.

Speaker 7 (51:52):
Morris Brown itc. This is Black excellence here.

Speaker 25 (51:55):
And when you get this form of tutelage, this form
and this much instruction that's nurturing, you have no other
choice but to walk out into.

Speaker 7 (52:05):
The world like you on it.

Speaker 1 (52:07):
Because that's what we do.

Speaker 7 (52:08):
We prime it, we run it, and that's what hpcus do.

Speaker 1 (52:12):
Come on now and doctor French.

Speaker 9 (52:15):
On another note, so federally corporate funding for HBCUs has
been a hot topic as of late.

Speaker 1 (52:21):
So what's your perspective on the progress that's being made
and what more needs to be done to level the
plant field.

Speaker 25 (52:28):
So where we are now with the Trump administration forty seven,
we know that we have challenges as far as financial.

Speaker 7 (52:34):
Aid goes threats to pell grants.

Speaker 25 (52:37):
However, overall we've not seen the adverse effects that many
are expecting. As a matter of fact, we've seen a
exponential increase in Title three funding. So we're very excited.
We continue to make the case for why we need
increased funding versus decreased funding. And that's where we are.
But DEI, here's the main thing. The administration has determined

(53:00):
men that HBCUs are not Dee and I. That is
the most important component of this dialogue.

Speaker 7 (53:07):
They are not and we are not. So we need
increased additional support versus decrease.

Speaker 1 (53:12):
All right, let's go to the phones. Good morning.

Speaker 10 (53:15):
I'm calling from South Carolina, Chauster. My name is Isaiah

Speaker 1 (55:13):

Speaker 5 (01:02:04):
What up, Ricky? It's Friday, October seventeenth. Here's what's going
on in the news. Big crowds are gearing up around
two of the No Kings protest aimed at President Trump
and what critics call his overreach of executive power. Rallies
are planned in more than twenty five hundred cities nationwide tomorrow,
with organizers saying the goal is to send a message

(01:02:25):
America doesn't do kings.

Speaker 8 (01:02:27):
I mean, that's kind of our whole origin story.

Speaker 5 (01:02:29):
So the main event's going to take place in DC,
right outside the US Capitol. But howse speaker Mike Johnson
is slamming it, calling it a hate America rally, And
in Chicago, a federal judge is ordering federal agents to
start wearing body cameras when they hit the streets. This
comes after concerns that agents may have crossed the line
during protest, possibly breaking a restraining order that limits their

(01:02:52):
use of tear gas. And there's this Ricky. Police are
sounding the alarm about a new social media trend called
the AI homeless man prank. Basically, teens are using AI
to edit photos so it looks like a random person
is inside their house, then sending the fake picks.

Speaker 4 (01:03:11):
To freak people out.

Speaker 5 (01:03:13):
In Colorado, it went way too far when a mom
called nine one one after seeing one of these images
and police nearly busted down the door before realizing it
was fake. Authorities say this so called prank can cause chaos,
waste emergency resources, and even get somebody hurt. Parents are
being told to talk to their kids about how dangerous
this trend really is.

Speaker 1 (01:03:33):
Brimfo on these stories and more.

Speaker 5 (01:03:34):

bring you music, movies and more so let's get off
into it. Well, y'all. Usher just joined Chris Brown and
Bryson Tiller's remix It Depends and it is out now.
Earlier this month, Chris Brown brought out Usher doing that
Atlanta stop of the Breezy bowtur and showed him some love.

(01:06:22):
Chris said, this is my freaking brother for life. I'm
so happy to be sharing the same stage with him.
I know, me and Boo earlier we came up young,
you know, we came up looking at him, Michael Jackson,
a couple other people. But it ain't too many people
messing with this dude. I'm just being real. He's the greatest,
my brother. I appreciate you. That is so awesome. And
as you may know, Usher and Chris Brown, they previously

(01:06:44):
joined forces on the twenty fourteen song New Flame, twenty
sixteen Back to Sleep remix, and twenty seventeen's Party, So
this is just reunited once again. And this is a
great song already. So I know Ad and Usher just
put that sauce on that thing. I heard it, and yes,
indeed it's jamming.

Speaker 1 (01:07:01):

Big Boy in the ceremony, which takes place on November eighth.

(01:08:13):
This is well deserved. Outcasts will become the thirteenth hip
hop back car inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame, following jac Eminem Tupac, the notorious Big Run DMC,
public enemy Missy Elliott in the Tribe Call Quest. So
congratulations go out to Outcasts. You definitely deserve it.
