Speaker 1 (00:21):

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Good morning, Rickey Smiling and The Rickey Smiling Morning Show. Family.
You know, I love y'all so much, and I appreciate
how you get our day off to the best start,
and especially the fact that you let us get it
off to a praise start. Listen, God is Great. That's
the song of the day. And this song is fire
for me because it talks about how God's greatness goes

(00:44):
up in the fact that God's love is unconditional and
the power of God is unbeatable, and how we need
that today. Isn't it good to know that God's love
is unconditional, That God is not flaky. God does not
fake on you. God is not some timy with you.

(01:05):
God's love is unconditional. That means here it is that
God does not hold over your head your worst mistake.
God does not hold against you what you've done that
has let you down and let God down. But instead
God loves us anyhow, and God keeps on loving us

(01:26):
into living our blessed lives. God keeps on loving us
until we live the best version of ourselves. God is
great because God's love is unconditional. But wait, God is
great because God's power is unbeatable. Isn't it good to
know that we serve a God here it is whose

(01:49):
power is at work within us, And so we testify
now under Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly
above all we can ask or imagine according to the
power and work within us. I love that right there
because it lets me know you are not powerless, because
you're connected to a God who is all power. For

(02:12):
it lets me know that when life backs you up
against the wall, you got the power of God within
you to come out swing. And God's power is unbeatable.
That simply means I can do all things through Christ,
who gives me the strength. And if the God above
me is within me, I can handle whatever may come

(02:35):
at me. Listen, God is great because God's love is unconditional.
In God's power is unbeatable. Y'all live in the power
and love of God's greatness. Today. God bless you and
have a great one.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
That is Papa hates man to see your Papa, Prince,
your resmissionary Baptists.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
That's goodness than it is.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
And love you, love you with you have a ways,
Yes you do.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Jose Entertainment, it's the fat on the freaking Smiley Morning.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Shots, Mile Morning Show.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
I got you front page right here, Afrita's good morning,
Good morning, Ricky.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
It's Tuesday, August fifth. Here's what's going on in the news.
Texas Republicans are ramping up their fight with Democrats over redistricting.
With most Democrats still missing in action, the GOP controlled
House approved a motion to issue civil arrest warrants for
the lawmakers who fled the state.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
There is one member who said that they're doing a
fundraiser here in Austin tomorrow and I've set that fundraising
letter to DPS and said they should be invited to
attend as well.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
We'll see how that goes forwards. That speaker, Dustin Burroughs.

Speaker 6 (03:42):
Now without the Democrats, Republicans cannot move forward on their
new congressional map, which could hand them five more seats.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Ahead of twenty twenty six.

Speaker 6 (03:51):
The Texas House is said to reconvene today to figure out.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
What they're going to do. Here's the deal.

Speaker 6 (03:56):
Democrats can legally stay out of the state until the
thirty days Pace session ends on August twentieth, but they're
racking up five hundred fines a day. In other news,
Israel may be laying the groundwork for a full long
takeover of Gaza, and they're using their remaining hostages as
political cover.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
A source close to Net.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
And Yahoo says Hamas won't release the remaining twenty twenty
three hostages unless Israel takes full control of the strip,
but critics are not buying it. They say that sounds
less like a demand and more like an excuse to
reoccupy Gaza. Hardliners in Net and Yahoo's coalition have pushed
to retake Gaza for years, and now some say the

(04:37):
hostage crisis is being used to justify a long term
military presence and even settlement expansion. Listen, if you get
an Amazon recall text, do not click that link. The
FTC is warning folks about a new scam involving fake
Amazon text. Now, the messages claimed you bought something that's
now recalled and offers a refund. So if you click

(04:58):
a shady link, that's going to screw you up.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Don't do it.

Speaker 6 (05:01):
Real recall info is only found in your Amazon account.
Scammers are just after your cash and your personal info.
For info on this story, more Cody Rickismiley Morning Show

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Now here's the sporottee. The sports genius is in the building.
One hand is, ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
If y'all didn't know, NBA superstar Luca Donchez agrees to
a massive three gear, one hundred and sixty five million
dollar extension to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers. And
if y'all ain't seen him lately, he finally dropped them pounds.
He looking like a real athlete right about now, he's
slimmed down a little bit. Olympic track star we all know,
Shakri Richardson, of course, was arrested for domestic violence toward

(05:41):
her boyfriend, Olympic star Christian Coleman, and she was charged
with fourth degree domestic violence and spent eighteen hours in
all behind bars. Well, the boyfriend, Christian Coleman, has spoke
out and actually is defending his girlfriend personally.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I feel like it was just a subky situation. All around.

Speaker 7 (06:00):
I don't feel as if like she should have been
a resonator for you, you know what I'm saying, Like,
I mean, you know, people have dispecialists and emotions and
stuff like that, and she has like things that she
need to work on for herself, of course, and so
do wise, so do you?

Speaker 1 (06:11):
So you like everybody?

Speaker 7 (06:13):
And I'm the type of guy like I'm in a
business that just like in Stinning Grace and Mercy in love,
she's a human being.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
I feel a great.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
Person that is man bringing a tag. Got the hot
spot up, black smiling, good morning.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Drop it like guitar, drop it like guitar.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
And let's cat spots all at the morning.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Short time.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
But the hot spot, what up?

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Brat?

Speaker 6 (06:38):
What up?

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Ricky? Good morning everybody.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
I'm your girl, bratsat tat And this is the hot
spot where we bring you music, movies and more so
let's get off into it well, y'all. Salt and Pepper
is the first female rap group to go platinum and
earn a Grammy, and now they're hoping to inspire more
artists to fight for their rights in their lawsuit against
Universal Music Group. That's right, Cheryl James, that's aka Salt

(07:01):
and Sandra Didn't aka Pepper Fowl the lawsuit against the
record label back in May to reclaim their recording rights,
claiming that Universal.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Music Group refused us to honor copyright laws.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
During the interview on Good Morning America, Soun Pepper discussed
their legal battle and claim that the record company has
been removing some of their biggest hits from streaming services.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Check out what they had to say.

Speaker 8 (07:23):
In the beginning, you sign a contract saying that the
copyrights will revert back to you after thirty five years,
and we've done all the things legally to get our
copyrights back, but they're just refusing, so we had to
assume them.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Yeah, it's the law.

Speaker 8 (07:39):
It just keeps us from re releasing our music, promoting it,
our own music anywhere you know else is saying soot
to hear and they're complaining. They're like, where's the music?
They're not on Apple or Spotify.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Wow, that's crazy.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
I think what I think Angie Stone was having a
problem with Versus Music Group about the.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Same type of situation. I mean, my goodness, after so
many years, how much money do you want to make
all that.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
Pepper's been out for decades? Yes, I mean about forty
years maybe, like.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
They were supposed to get their copy right back. It's
amazing that people don't know that when you and I
sat looking at you, like, oh, these people make all
this money and making these rugs and stuff, but you
don't know.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
You have to go through there, and things have changed
so much since forty years of this. Please give them
what's due to them now is crazy, So I'm happy
to see them fighting well. UG has filed the motion
and dismissed the lawsuit, claiming that saltn. Pepper cannot exercise
determination rights because they were not the ones who signed
their contracts. Son Pepper says they did not have that

(08:43):
kind of leverage, knowledge, or control back in the eighties.
Despite this legal battle, Southern Pepper will be inducted into
the twenty twenty five Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
in November. So congratulations go out to them, because they
for damn sure deserve it all right, Moving on, y'all,
Prince his One of the Times concert film is returning
to theaters. According to reports, Princess movie Sound of the

(09:05):
Times will screen globally for the first time in Imax
theaters for one week only starting August twenty nine. The
movie is rated PG thirteen and was directed, scored by,
and starred Prince himself. It was originally released back in
nineteen eighty seven that the film captures Prince live on
stage performing songs from that album with his new backing

(09:26):
band after he fired his longtime group The Revolution right
before the album's release. Now, the film bombed at the
box office, but found new life and popularity on home video.
Sound of the Times was Princess Knife studio album and
feature songs like You Got The Look, I Could Never
Take the Place of Your Man, and If I Was
Your Girlfriend. You can see it globally in Imax theaters

(09:47):
for one week starting and it's only on August twenty ninth.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
All right, y'all.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
For more information on these stories and more, you can
go to Ricky Smiley Morningshow dot com and you can
catch me on all my social media and so so Bratt.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
It's the Ricky Smiley Morning Show.

Speaker 6 (10:00):
Y Ricky, this is so crazy how a silly pun
about denim outwear has launched one of the bloodiest culture
wars battles ever.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
But that's where we are in this country right now.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
So listen, you probably know what I'm talking about those
American Eagle ads where actress Sidney Sweeney is in the
jens and the denim jacket and she's all seductively talking
about her genetics, which leads to the tagline Sidney Sweeney
has great genes like J.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
E, A N S. But people are like, hold up.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
So some people on the extreme left ridiculously kind of
overreacted by claiming the ads were coded messages about eugenics
and white supremacy like genes ge N, E S and DNA,
and the extreme right overreacted in Sydney's and American Eagles defense. So,
according to a new poll, fifteen percent of Americans now

(10:50):
thinks saying someone has great genes with a G is inappropriate,
but fifty three percent say it's cool, and thirty one
percent aren't sure.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Come on, yeah, no.

Speaker 6 (11:00):
This is a big it's so it's it's yeah, It's
all over social media. American Eagle even released the statement saying,
quote Sidney Sweeney has great jeans with a J. Is
isn't always was about the jeans with a J. Her
jeans with a J.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Her story.

Speaker 6 (11:17):
We're gonna continue to celebrate how everybody wears their a
jeans with confidence stairway.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Great jeans look at on everybody. But here's the thing.

Speaker 6 (11:25):
BuzzFeed out that Sydney is being a registered Republican since
twenty twenty four, So of course Donald Trump is riding
for her, calling the ad hot, and American.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Eagle is laughing all the way to the bank.

Speaker 6 (11:38):
Their stocks on immediate twenty percent boost after his comments.
That's the largest one day game their stock has seen
in twenty five years.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Yeah, well so, I mean a lot American.

Speaker 6 (11:53):
I mean, who shops at American Eagle. I haven't shopped
at American Egle in twenty years. But the thing is,
Sidney Sweeney is blonde with blue eyes, and they say
if a black woman, like, say we did this with
a black woman, people would cry reverse racism, like you
can never do this with a black actress.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
You don't think black people would attackle two if she
was black. Oh, she'd be into overly sexualized and all.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
No, it wasn't that.

Speaker 6 (12:18):
It's about she's got great jeans because she's blond and
blue eyes.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
No, I'm talking about for what black woman was to
do it. No, I don't think black people would care
if a black woman did it looking deeply into something.
Pretty much.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
We got other stuff like people got well Trump said
something about it. That's why people talking about did I
not see that?

Speaker 6 (12:36):
Come on, I'm gonna tell you all the trips. I
can't watch it. I can't watch White Lotus no more.
I'm not watching you for because I was kind of like,
wait a minute, So yeah, I'm that girl.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Yeah that's the times we're living in now.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Oh yeah, yeah, it's crazy.

Speaker 7 (12:51):
Just appreciate that, yob
