watch out for. And if you think, you know, you

of all, when they're shopping, if a deal looks too good,

you need to be skeptical about it because a lot
of companies and a lot of scammers are making fake
websites with deals and if you go to it, what
happens is it goes to their page where they can
now steal your credit card information. So you want to
make sure you're actually looking at the website that you
click on before you buy, and before you even cruises.
I actually have a family member and I'm like you

didn't listen and she booked a cruise. She thought it
was too good of a deal, and so she booked
it and it was through a scammer's website and she
put a credit card information. They got it for a
thousand dollars, had to go back. So again, make sure
you're looking at the domains when you click on it.
Does it actually say Carnival Cruise or does it say
Macy's dot com or wherever it says.

Make sure the domain is the actual domain and there's
no extras.

Also, when you're getting these text messages, I know a
lot of us are excited because Christmas gifts are coming.
You want to beat your family member before they get home,
so you're trying to track your presence and whatnot. Do
not click unless you are one hundred thousand percent that
this is from FedEx, because again, once you click on
these links, they are phishing your accounts. They now have
access to your phone, so these are something you want

to be aware of. Also, QR codes are higher than ever.
So when you go to restaurants, if you're doing a
park mobile, you see a parking sign that it has
a QR code. If you click on a QR code.
It now gives hackers access to your phone. So again
these are things that you want to they'll put a
sticker over the menu. Yes, exactly. So when you're scanning

the QR codes, it's it's thin, I mean it's very
very thin, it's clear, and you just once you open it,
it goes to their site. They get all your information.
They have access to your cash up, your zell, your
entire phone, just like that, ye kay at the.

Yep, absolutely, especially now now unless it's like a digital
QR code, those are something that's a little bit more
secure because you can't put a sticker over it. Now,
how can you protect yourself right? Well, like I said,

on the website. Also, be skeptical. Always remember if it's
too good of a deal, it probably is. And then
when you're looking for these deals, go to the actual website. Now,

if you see a flyer or something to that, go
to best buy dot com. Don't click on the link,
go and search for the deal yourself. And then lastly,
gift cards. If you want to buy a gift card,
the best route is to buy it from the actual manufacturer.
Don't buy it from a third party or even on
the shelves at the store, because what happens is these
scammers are getting the codes off the back of the

gift cards, and then once you purchase and you activate
the card, then they now have access to that money.
Because again, gift cards are the only thing that that's
not traceable, one of the most easiest things for.

For the holidays, everyone is doing a lot of online buying. Well,
there are some new scams that you really need to
watch out for. And if you think, you know, you
might not be the problem, but your husband, your grand
your mom, your your father, your elderly people in your life,
you definitely need to look out for them. So first
of all, when they're shopping, if a deal looks too good,
(09:25):
you need to be skeptical about it because a lot
of companies and a lot of scammers are making fake
websites with deals and if you go to it, what
happens is it goes to their page where they can
now steal your credit card information. So you want to
make sure you're actually looking at the website that you
click on before you buy, and before you even cruises.
I actually have a family member and I'm like you
(09:46):
didn't listen and she booked a cruise. She thought it
was too good of a deal, and so she booked
it and it was through a scammer's website and she
put a credit card information. They got it for a
thousand dollars, had to go back. So again, make sure
you're looking at the domains when you click on it.
Does it actually say Carnival Cruise or does it say
Macy's dot com or wherever it says.

Make sure the domain is the actual domain and there's
no extras.
Speaker 9 (10:08):
Also, when you're getting these text messages, I know a
lot of us are excited because Christmas gifts are coming.
You want to beat your family member before they get home,
so you're trying to track your presence and whatnot. Do
not click unless you are one hundred thousand percent that
this is from FedEx, because again, once you click on
these links, they are phishing your accounts. They now have
access to your phone, so these are something you want
(10:29):
to be aware of. Also, QR codes are higher than ever.
So when you go to restaurants, if you're doing a
park mobile, you see a parking sign that it has
a QR code. If you click on a QR code.
It now gives hackers access to your phone. So again
these are things that you want to they'll put a
sticker over the menu. Yes, exactly. So when you're scanning

the QR codes, it's it's thin, I mean it's very
very thin, it's clear, and you just once you open it,
it goes to their site. They get all your information.
They have access to your cash up, your zell, your
entire phone, just like that, ye kay at the.

Speaker 9 (11:05):
Yep, absolutely, especially now now unless it's like a digital
QR code, those are something that's a little bit more
secure because you can't put a sticker over it. Now,
how can you protect yourself right? Well, like I said,
you want to make sure you independently verify the domain
on the website. Also, be skeptical. Always remember if it's
too good of a deal, it probably is. And then
when you're looking for these deals, go to the actual website. Now,
(11:27):
if you see a flyer or something to that, go
to best buy dot com. Don't click on the link,
go and search for the deal yourself. And then lastly,
gift cards. If you want to buy a gift card,
the best route is to buy it from the actual manufacturer.
Don't buy it from a third party or even on
the shelves at the store, because what happens is these
scammers are getting the codes off the back of the
(11:49):
gift cards, and then once you purchase and you activate
the card, then they now have access to that money.
Because again, gift cards are the only thing that that's
not traceable, one of the most easiest things for.

Go get you some cash, keep your money in your
dawn pocket, and just go pay for it with cash.

They also say, if you want to get a gift card,
don't get the one that's out hanging around the public.

Ask the cashier if they have some behind the counter
that only they have access to.

So some stores they have the gift cards behind the
register so the public doesn't have access to it.

If you get one that's hanging up, Like if you
go to your local grocery store, they have that whole
wall of gifts. They have a whole wall of gift cards.

Don't buy your gift card there, buy it from behind
the register, or order them online and have them shipped
to your house.

So those are a couple of ways in bed and
never get up.
