He can takete the time in the parsley and the
rosemary and the basil all day.
Speaker 9 (06:44):
Noney that's all good good, that's all good flavor. So Ricky.
For the past two months, I've closed out the segment
instructing the listeners of the Ricky Smile at Morning show
to get the twenty twenty five twenty six flu shot.
And that was a reason for that. The season of
flu activity is on the rise. The CDC estimates this.
(07:04):
Since September, there's been almost two million flu cases, nineteen
thousand hospitalizations, and this is the key statistic, seven hundred
and thirty deaths, including the depth of a child one
week ago. People need to remember that the flu has
always killed more people than the COVID and the coronavirus.
Yet you know, we shut down the country for COVID
(07:26):
and people are very laxa days ago about getting their
flu vaccine. So Christmas gatherings are spreading more than holiday spirits,
but also spreading germs like the flu. And the highest
activities Ricky are all over the country north, south, east
and west Colorado, Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, Georgia, and Texas.
(07:47):
So basicallywhere everywhere people are, the levels are going up.
There's a new variant that's been evaluated in diagnosis called
the K variant. It's been dominant since the weekend in
December sixth, the first full week after Thanksgiving. That's when
people were gathering and that's when it started spreading. Okay,
so various calls. Excuse me, this variant calls more severe illnesses,
(08:09):
especially in older adults. Hospitalizations have doubled each week for
the past two weeks, so this is a rapid and
severe rise. We're seeing more people that end up in
the hospital and more cases being diagnosed than last year.
And last year was considered a pretty big flu year,
so the US set a record with child deaths last season.
Ricord that were at least two hundred and eighty kids
(08:30):
that died of influenza the last falling winter, and those
that died, nine out of ten were unvaccinated. So this
year's flu shots, even though they do not target the
new variant, they target variants that are close and similarly related,
so they seem to be working pretty well against the
K variant. The best defense against the v outcome from
influenza is the current vaccine. It's not too late to
(08:53):
get vaccinated and the shots are free at any pharmacy
with insurance, and if you have to pay for it.
It's usually only like twenty five or thirty five dollars.
So I'd recommend all the listeners go get your flu
shots in the next few days. But remember what doctor
Kya always says, take a nun stating antihistamine allegra zytech
ziza or clariton. Taking anti inflammatory such as moultrin at billa.
(09:16):
Leave starting the day before the flu shot, the day
you get the flu shot, and the day after the
flu shot, and then you won't get the symptoms and
you won't get the sore arm.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
There you have it, Ricky, Oh, that's good stuff right now.
All right, this goes to the phone call you good morning.
Speaker 10 (09:31):
Yes, my question is my mom had COVID about two
years ago, but she still has a lingering call.
Speaker 7 (09:38):
From you kids.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
I'm trying to find out what is.
Speaker 7 (09:41):
It that we can do because the doctors have no answer.
Speaker 9 (09:44):
Okay, she has a chronic bronchitis of inflammation and the lungs,
so you treat it with anti inflammatories. People, I asked,
what are the natural things I can do? Vitamin d
omega three fish are those two things. But it's not
like you take appeal today and you're going to be
better tomorrow. It's going to take time for those lung
sales to turn over and to heal. So some will heal,
(10:06):
some will just you know, be replaced by new sales.
But the point is as a chronic condition that a
lot of people are having this problem. Even people are
still having problems with taste and smell, but this chronic
dry cough, it seems to be persistent because they have
not recuperated from the inflammatory insult to the lungs. So
other anti inflammatories that are the natural are tumeric, cocumin, They
(10:30):
are teased, they are tablets, There are powders, they are
almost anything. But the two things I highly recommend vitamin
D at five thousand international units per day a therapeutic dose.
Less than that is a total waste of time. So
you need to take that and then to make a
three fish are at at least three thousand milligrams per day,
and that would hope relieve it really goes over the
(10:50):
next two to four weeks.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
You good morning, Kay.
Speaker 7 (10:55):
I always trying to see if there are any natural
remedies to help with stiff's joints and stiff needs. I
bought Ostell biplace last week and I'm giving them a
try and it's helping, But those pills are huge, and
so trying to see is there anything else that I
might could do to help with fifth.
Speaker 9 (11:10):
Joints and these Well, the great thing about ostele biflex
is that one you only have to take two a day.
There are some formulations which contain glucosamine and condroating that
require you to take four to eight pills per day,
so they're a little bigger, but you cut down on
your pill burden by doing that. As you see, they
do help, and the longer you take them, the more
(11:33):
improvement you're going to have in your joint pain. But
you're suffering from osteoarthritis, which affects you know, basically one
hundred percent of the population. If you live long enough
degenerative joint disease, the joints get old, they get dry,
and they start to crack, and so you need to
moisturize those joints. Omega three fishing oil it's great for
that vitamin D helps heal bones. That combination plus the
(11:57):
osteo biflex will give you long term benefit. But you know,
as we age, this will get worse. If you don't
stay on top of it. So you're working on it.
You've got a product that's working for you. Just keep
taking it.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Are you good morning?
Speaker 11 (12:11):
I was calling to see what was just like diagnosis
pretty much is my eye recently was swollen and now
that it is swelling wing down, my vision kind of
is going out slowly but surely.
Speaker 9 (12:23):
Okay, Well, you need to be evaluated if you having
visual changes that are deteriorating. If your eye was swollen,
that usually is conjuncti bitis. It can be viral and
self limiting. It can be bacterial. The way you usually
make the differential is if you wake up in the
morning and you have matting i e. A lot of
crusty extra date around the eyes. Sometimes your eye get
(12:44):
stuck together and you cannot open it up without cleaning
it with a warm washcloth. Now, one of the things
I recommend. The problem is, oftentimes, particularly with women, messcarre
is contaminated. You need to throw away your mess carre.
You can't clean it up fix it if it's contaminated. Yes,
that's the number one thing that perpetuates an eye infection
because most of them are waterproof, and so when you
(13:07):
wash you really need to use a good soap. But
the problem is when you do that, your eyes sting,
so you stop doing it, and so you leave a
lot of the mess carret residue on the eyes and
it accumulates and clumps and gets infected. Now, doctor Ky,
you highly recomenized.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
What about.
Speaker 9 (13:23):
Exactly? You know? You know they get contaminated that twice
as much stuff becout that twice as long. But you
can wash your face with Johnson's Baby shampoo, the No
More Tears variant. You can literally wash you with your
eyes open and it won't sting, but that will help
remove bacteria. And if you have those lashes and they're removable,
take them off at night and don't sleep with them
if they are. If not, make sure that you're cleaning
(13:45):
them well. But the Johnson Baby Shampoo No More Tears
is a great way to wash your face. Remove your
makeup and do that and that will stop you from
getting the uki i.
Speaker 12 (13:59):
Ugi i what comedian big shaw I say about the lessons.
He said, he said, when they be blaking the eye
to be like like letting them pi's a fellows.
Speaker 10 (14:12):
Like a bird in the room, a pigeon that flew
in through the chimney.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
If y'all want to talk to you want to talk
to got y'all head us up?
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Ain't six? Rick, ain't sixty? The man stop? Can't you?
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Why?
Speaker 9 (14:44):
Okay? So five broys again affect of probably ninety percent
of women over time, depending upon your age and how
close you are to menopause. Once you go through menopause,
the five broids will shrink and probably go away, but
definitely shrink down. Lord enough, you're not having symptoms. Those
can be heavy bleeding, they could be pain, in discomfort
when you have intercourse, all kinds of issues that make
(15:05):
you aware of your pelvis that you shouldn't have to
think about. So there are other technologies and techniques. There's
you turin fibroid embalizations or UFE, that is currently amazingly
good for taking care of fibroids. You may have heard
that one of the Real Housewives of Atlanta really is
documenting her course with that treatment and it's been amazing.
(15:27):
So the problem is that's not done by obgyn's, and
so obgyns don't tell you about it. It's done by radiologists,
and those interventional radiologists can perform that. So just google
uterine fibroid eimalizations you're eligible for that that's minimally invasive
and no substantive or significant recovery time. Now, if you're
(15:49):
not eligible, then the hysterect will probably be your best
case scenario. Again, depending upon how close you are to menopause.
Now there are hormone the therapists that you can get
that will put you into automnce or artificial menopause, but
it depends on your childbearing status, whether you want to
have any more children, et cetera. So all those things
need to be discussed with your OBG y N first,
(16:10):
But then google uterine fibroia emalyization UFE near me and
find a provider that does that as well.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
All right, y'all, good morning.
Speaker 7 (16:20):
Okay, if you have several art fighters and you already
have your knee replace, what can you take that's a
lotion or ointment that you don't have to say something
up my mouth?
Speaker 9 (16:29):
Okay, author tech or di Clopinac used to be a
prescription medication that is now available over the counter. So
diclothinac is the generic name, and you rub it on
the joint. It gives amazingly good relief and it's not systemic,
so it won't raise your blood pressure, and it doesn't
irritate or aggravate your stomach. You can't get an ulfer
(16:49):
from taking it like you can from an oral noun STEROIDA.
Anti inflammatories are in said class drugs, so that will
be a great option for you. Everybody raised about it.
And then there's another thing called light of King patches
that can numb it up. But the arthoitect addresses the
problem which is inflammation in the joint. And again, as
we always say, take anti flammatories, natural anti flammatories such
(17:13):
as cookumin such as too Merrick. You can also take
the osteo biflex which is very good for joint and
bone health, and then Omega three fish oil, Invitamin D.
All those are natural things that you can do that
will give you relief from a progressively severe disease state osteoarthritis.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
