don't want to hurt you.

with that dog on flu all this stuff, and we

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Sick and our threetos is sick.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Everybody, everybody sick.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
We want to tell everybody to make sure y'all take
five thousand international units of vitamin D every day in

for Gary with the T and so we're gonna do
this T point right here. So listen, we got Brett,
(01:07):
you got some stuff going on with La read.
Speaker 5 (01:09):
Do Ricky in Los Angeles Court News John Legend is
expected to take the stand in the upcoming trial of
music executive La Reid, who faces charges related to alleged
sexual assault that The trial is scheduled to begin next week,
and prosecutors have indicated that Legend may testify as part
of the case. While specific details of what Legend might
(01:30):
say in court have not been made public, his involvement
underscores the high profile of the trial and the significant
attention it's joined within the entertainment industry.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Y'all.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
La Read, a veteran music producer and former record label executive,
has denied the allegations. Attorneys on both sides of preparing
arguments and court observers say this case could be closely
watched for what it means for accountability and power dynamics
in the music business as it develops. We're gonna keep
you updated on major court room moments and statements from
(02:01):
those involved.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Oh my god, so so Brette. What does all that
mean when it still turns? On both sides of preparing
arguments in the court, observers say that the case could
be close to watch for what it means for accountability
and power.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Now get ready to go to war?
Speaker 5 (02:15):
Both sides getting ready to you know, present their cases
and and they're gonna go back and forth and cross
examine people and have different people up understand and you
know if if if he is guilty of anything, they
want people to take accountability for the things.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
From one person or a lot of people.
Speaker 5 (02:33):
I think, just with the whole Diddy thing and where everything,
everybody's gonna really be trying to extra prove their cases
because some people feel like, you know, did he got
off easy with all the different things that he took
part in, And then some people feel like, you know,
it was fair. So you know, people are gonna have
to really present their cases if they strongly believe that
(02:53):
somebody is guilty, and they have to have all the
receipts and stuff like that. And they say power dynamics
because a lot of the execs in the industry, you know,
they have a higher power because a lot of up
and coming artists want to be celebrities and they want
to be famous, and they want to be rich and
they want to make money. So that's what they mean
by power dynamics.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
So being in the industry, as long as you've been
in the music industry, what have you experienced and some
of the things that you have seen, how are the
music exists?
Speaker 5 (03:20):
Well, you know what, thank God that I had Jermaine Duprie.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Jermaine dupri protected us. He didn't.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
I never been to a Diddy party. I was invited,
but JD never took me with him if he went.
You know what I'm saying, Like he never. He was
just very protective. Like he didn't even like for me
to go out to clubs too much. He rather me
just be in the studio working. And that's kind of
what he instilled in us. So I was shielded from
a lot of stuff. And I'm sure my grandmother's and
(03:49):
family's prayers and the grace of God kept me shielded
from a lot of stuff as well. So I'm blessed
to I don't know, you know, I don't know. I
had no negative things like that happened to me.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Thank you, and we thank God for that.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Man.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
I appreciate that. Brad.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
That's some good information right there in our rock. Cardi
B is back in the news again.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Man.
Speaker 6 (04:07):
She's opening up about a behind the scenes headache she
dealing with that she gives up for her Little Missed
Drama tour set to kick off February the eleven. During
the Instagram live, the Bronx rapper admitted her tour has
already gone a couple million dollars over budget and she
may have to dig in her own pockets to cover
some of these dog on expenses to make this dog
on show big for her fans. So Cardi lamped off
(04:30):
the comparisons to Beyonce massive production because we already know
beyoncely you can't get too much bigger than her.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
And she's like, I ain't no damn Beyonce.
Speaker 6 (04:40):
While she may not have that same level of production
in cash, she promises her Bartie gang a great time
when the tour hits the cities like Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago,
and New York.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
And despite the.
Speaker 6 (04:51):
Budget woes and extra work figuring out the numbers, she's
still in rehearsals and hyped to bring the energy once
the show begins. I'm gonna tell yall something. I don't
know if you heard the Cardi b album, but it
is off the chain from the tracks.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
What songs stick out? All of them?
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Man, like you did a song.
Speaker 6 (05:09):
She's telling the story about her and her exes, of course,
and but she's doing it in a respectful way, and
she's also saying like I love you and you're the
father of my kids, and I respect you and I'll
always be there for you.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
But at the same time, you trifling up.
Speaker 6 (05:24):
And the way she does it is like it's like methodical, man,
it's go check that album. It's like she's telling the
whole story, man, and it's amazing. And the beats are
off the chain as well.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yes, what jumped out as you departed? That you heard?
Speaker 1 (05:39):
I just love her flow on all the songs.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
I can't even think of the names of the because
I just let it go when I get in my car,
I just let it go from top to bottom because
she has messages in all of them. It's one where
she kind of got like a biggie flow. I can't
even think of the name of it right now, but
it's it's beaten. I tell you that, it's beaten. And
I love Cardi b. I just love her for uh
just speaking out and just you know, not hiding behind
nothing and being herself and being true to herself.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
The track What's going On by Lizzo that's off the Shoe, Oh.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
Yeah, I love that too, yup, what's going on to
collab with Lizzo? She got with with Kalani, Like, yeah,
she got some bangers on there for real, for real,
and I know she's gonna give a great show.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Absolutely, I need everybody to hit card to be up,
tell her we would love to have her on the
Morning show. I would love the interview CARDI me and
have her jump on to talk about her tour and
talk about her new album. We swot her, We absolutely
love her and we would love for her to.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Come on the show.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
Man a Rock Tea Brett, thank y'all so much, Man problem,
thank you, and this dog on tea party.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Man coming up and what's trend?
Speaker 4 (06:38):
And Roland Martin is going to be joining us to
talk about what really happened in the Minneapolis that led
in Minneapolis, that led to an Ice Asian fatally shooting
a woman. So we're gonna break all of that down.
Protests and public outcry have followed the shooting, along with
the national debate of an immigration enforcement and joining us
this morning, attorney and TV host Roland Martin, Roland, good morning,
(07:03):
happy to have.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
You, man, good morning, good morning.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Uh year, Hey, Roland, I'm surprised we ain't been texting
each other because man, we bet. I know you've got
a crazy schedule. But everybody that is just waking up
or catching up that's been up under rock. What do
we know so far about what happened in Minneapolis? Can
you refresh us? And yeah, well yeah, very simple.
Speaker 7 (07:29):
That is Trump has sent more than two thousand ICE
agents into Minneapolis.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (07:35):
He's been doing this since since last year, since getting
back into the White House. And you have to understand
what he's trying to do for everything, for everything, for
Donald Trump is a television show. I want people to understand,
it's about a television show. What they have been doing
is they've been shooting their own videos and so posting
on videos. Remember them repelling down buildings in Chicago at
(07:59):
two o'clock, three block in the morning, having people stand outside.
Little kid in zip tizes it's all about all this
show of force. But you got to remember President Obama
actually deported. Obama and Biden deported more people than Trump
has deported.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
But it's this whole show.
Speaker 7 (08:16):
So if we don't even know if these are actually
federal law enforcement agencies, I mean agents, we don't know
if they are actual officers because what they've been doing
just recruiting anybody. So the problem here is this here,
the Department of Homeland Security has a policy that states
that officers are not to stoop at moving vehicles. That's
(08:40):
their actual policy. Okay, it's right there. So what you
saw was Trump has allowed these folks to operate in impunity.
Remember during the campaign, what did Trump say? He said
he wanted to give law enforcement one hundred percent community
so they can do their jobs.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
There would be no action taken against this guy.
Speaker 7 (09:03):
Remember listen, let New Year's Eve, a black man in
Los Angeles was shot and killed by an off duty
ice agent over fireworks. Over fireworks, and so Trump is
giving these these people have been walking up the cars,
smashing windows, ordering them out. Uh, and then witnesses said
(09:26):
that they were. There was conflicting evidence, conflicting directions given
to this woman. Some of the one of the agents
was saying get out of the car, others was saying
get out of the way. And then the Trump folks
aligned Secretary of Homeland Security Christinom she holds a news conference.
She says, oh, the agents were stuck in the snow.
We saw the video. They had removed the snow from
(09:47):
the from from the streets. Oh, they were trying to
run them over. Trump posts on truth social Uh. The
agent that was almost killed, it's a miracle he's alive.
We saw the video of the agent who fired the
gun walking away, no harm whatsoever. Not only that, Not
(10:07):
only that, there was a doctor who was on the scene.
A doctor ran up, said I'm a doctor. They pointed
guns and said get away or we're gonna shoot. They
gave this woman had no aid for fifteen minutes. When
the ambulance arrived. There were so many police cars blocking
the ambulance they would have to let the paramedics in.
(10:28):
The paramedics had to run on foot to treat the woman.
The woman got no treatment for fifteen minutes. Normally, on
the law enforcement guidelines, when you shoot someone, you are
to render aid. And you know what's going to happen
to this officer. Nothing Because Donald Trump, this is what
he wants. He wants this, and people understand, this is
(10:51):
what people have been fearing that this was going to
happen with the actions over the last year.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
And this is no shock whatsoever.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Wow, Well Rowland.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
When a federal agency like ICE is involved in a
deadly shooting, who actually investigates and how transparent is that process,
because well, they don't seem like.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
It seems like it's a no win situation for us.
Speaker 7 (11:15):
Well not necessarily, because there are a number of states
that this person he can be prosecuted based upon various
state laws. So we're gonna see what Keith Ellison is,
the brother former member of Congress, is the attorney general.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Of the state of Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (11:33):
And so I'm sure they're gonna be looking into this
as well. And so but it's gonna be very difficult
because you've got to remember what do cops always do?
Oh I feel for my life that.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
They actually actually run to Uh.
Speaker 7 (11:46):
But the issues here's going to be the violate the
DHS policy.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Now, the problem is going to be jurisdiction.
Speaker 7 (11:52):
So I'm sure they're gonna be looking at can they
charge him under state law?
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Because here's a deal, you can forget federal And you.
Speaker 7 (12:00):
Know what, because Trump's Department of Justice ain't going to
prosecute this guy.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (12:05):
And you know what if if they if if somehow
they did, Trump can easily part in this officer. But people,
I need people to understand Donald Trump said this during
the campaign on one hundred percent community.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Uh he has you know.
Speaker 7 (12:20):
One of the first things that he did when he
when he got back to the White House, there were
two cops in Washington, d c.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Who had been convicted.
Speaker 7 (12:30):
Uh, when they were chasing a black man, Uh, chasing
a black man and that and that and that a
black man died. They were convicted by a jury. Donald
Trump part in those cops. There was a Los Angeles
County deputy sheriff who had viciously beat this woman who
was recording this man being arrested, tried, gets gets convicted.
(12:52):
They then do a post sentence. Yeah, we want, we
want to change the sentence. He will, He does not.
He will never hold law enforcement accountable. And this is
why I keep telling people by voting matters because under
President Biden and Vice Versident Kamala Harris, you had numerous
pasant practice investigation of police, departments of law enforcement of
(13:16):
being charged jailer's wardens. You're not going to see any
of that under Trump because he wants them doing this
kind of stuff. And so listen, folks, buckle up because
the next three years is going to be difficult and people,
but this is why we need people to understand. We
told people this was gonna happen every day. We kept
singing on the show, you put this thug back in charge.
(13:39):
He is going to create mayhem across this country and
he is sending ICE agents. We saw this happen in Chicago,
we saw it in Los Angeles. He is doing this
and we don't even know who these people are. They're
hiding their faces, they're hiding their badges. Somebody comes up, Yeah,
you literally.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Don't know who this is.
Speaker 7 (13:59):
Hey, just last week in another in another city, Uh,
somebody was impersonating an ICE agent and pulled this black
guy over and later wasn't even real. There'll be people
impersonating ICE agents raping women because again, you don't know
who the hell these people are.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
So it is it is really scary. What's going on.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Rowland hold that thought, y'all. We got the one that
owned Roland Martin on with us this morning. I guesterday
and we've been talking about the woman that was fectively
shot by an ICE agent yesterday in Minnesota and all, Roland,
thank you again for joining us. I just want to
know watching issues around ICE be important for the for
the black community.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
And I really want you to hit this one right here.
We talked about it. Well.
Speaker 7 (14:42):
First of all, yeah, we have to understand ten percent
of America's black population are immigrants. You got people in
this country. You're in Minneapolis, there a significant Somalian population.
You've got Haitians, You've got folks from You've got folks
from Bahamas, Jamaica.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (15:04):
Donald Trump has been specifically targeting African countries. Uh, basically
putting them on a no fly list.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (15:12):
He you don't remember he called he called, you know,
African nations as whole countries. Donald Trump gave a speech,
this was before Christmas where he was in Philadelphia, I think,
where he said, well, can we get people from Denmark
and Sweden? They want white people. I need, I need
people listen to what I'm saying. Donald Trump and the
(15:33):
Republican Party, they only want white immigrants. That's what they want.
So we have to and then we had to understand
that it's not somebody's listening.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Man. You know what. That's why I closed the border.
Get them people out.
Speaker 7 (15:47):
I just read a story where Ice detained a woman
in Maryland for the last twenty five days, and she.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Was an American citizen.
Speaker 7 (15:59):
They all walked looking up to people going, oh, you
look like you don't speak speak English. So African we
are being impacted. We had better understand that the trickle
down effect is This year again, let me say it again,
a off duty ice agent, Scott and killed a black
man in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve over fireworks.
(16:25):
So this and so this heavy handed, these actions that
Donald Trump has endorsed.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
I sent you and your producer clips.
Speaker 7 (16:32):
Stephen Miller was on Fox News on Will Caine's show
saying that police officers have absolute immunity.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
So these videos that.
Speaker 7 (16:40):
We're seeing of them walking up, smashing windows, snatching people
out of cars, that has happened to black people.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Let me say it again.
Speaker 7 (16:49):
When the Homeland Security when they stormed into Chicago, they
posted this forty eight hours like you know, Jerry Bruckheimer
type video of these officers were pealing down the building
with their guns and everything. They had a small black
child standing outside in the coal with no clothes on,
(17:11):
with on their hands. And you know what that building
they raided. Not a single person in that building that
was raised at three o'clock in the morning was actually charged.
Those were black people and So I need people to
understand that we can't just go, oh, well, that's not us,
that's that's that's those Latinos, that's those Venezuelans, those Colombians,
(17:33):
that's those folks. No, these actions by him singing the
National Guard into Memphis, Uh, they're gonna be singing the
National Guard into New Orleans because the Republican governor has
allowed face.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
He had done a Supreme Court.
Speaker 7 (17:46):
Uh, they ruled against him, so you know, he pulled
them out of la out of Chicago, of the places.
But this is what we're seeing. We are seeing a
thug in chief. This man is doing whatever he wants
to do. Republicans in the House and the Senate are
not stopping him. He has no boundaries whatsoever. And so
(18:06):
the actions that we are seeing with Ice are also
being applied to every other place. I have been screaming
this on my show since he got inaugurated. They are
targeting black people. They are trying to defund Black America.
They're targeting every facet of Black America. They're targeting black politics,
black business, They're targeting black academics, they're targeting black health.
(18:30):
We need to understand that these actions go far beyond
what we're seeing with Ice and law enforcement. We are
seeing them target us in every way. So we better
buckle up. So when we talk about voting, voting is
not just about casting a ballot. Ballot is literally protecting
your civil and economic rights.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
And these folks do not care.
Speaker 6 (18:55):
Hey, roles are real fast man. We see a lot
of protests happening right now about Ice. What does this
moment say about trust or even the lack of trust
between communities and the actual federal law enforcement.
Speaker 7 (19:06):
Well, yet, understand, this shooting took place four blocks where
George Floyd was murdered. We saw protests last night in
New York. We're you know, the the question what we
have to now see is is this going to spark
nationwide protests?
Speaker 2 (19:21):
What is this going to? What is this going to
lead to? Uh?
Speaker 7 (19:24):
Uh? And so that's gonna be the whole issue here.
A lot of people are scared because here's the other
thing that we gotta understand. And black activists have told
me this, Donald Trump wants to Donald Trump cannot wait
for mass protests because he.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Wants martial law.
Speaker 7 (19:41):
He wants to tell uh, folks go in and take
those activists out. So that's the other thing. A lot
of activists are very scared of going to the streets
because that's.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
What he wants. He wants to unleash law enforce.
Speaker 7 (19:57):
Remember his first time he was there, he told the
Defense Secretary, why can't you just why can't it just
shoot him in the knee? He wanted the military. He
Donald Trump wanted the military to quail protest and said,
why can't y'all just shoot him in the knee?
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Y'all.
Speaker 7 (20:18):
That's the kind of person who's now sitting in the
Oval office, and we had better understand the threat that
Donald Trump poses to life in liberty in the United States. A. A.
Speaker 6 (20:29):
Rowland.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
We appreciate on this. Let everybody know real quick how
you can be reached, y'all.
Speaker 7 (20:34):
Watch our show rolland Unfiltered every night on the Black
stud Network six to a pm Eastern. Go to our
YouTube channel, and we talk about all this sort of stuff.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Y'all. This is real. This is real. That's how it.
Speaker 7 (20:45):
So we break it down every night, share it, pass
it around.
