If someone up or down, which one hurts more?

Speaker 6 (02:48):
I ain't never met none that I left went up,
So I don't know how Jones every situation I ever
seen go on didn't work out.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
It's it's like the unseasoned version. I mean, like, did
you hear what he said? He trying to say, baby
that baby ms. Cardi B may have left it, but
she ain't dated up. No, she's dating down like he
just a high he say't nobody left him and dated up?

Speaker 7 (03:19):
That's you know, some people have to build confidence within themselves.
Everybody know Cardi B did a.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Great job, and we're all happy that she's happy.

Speaker 7 (03:28):
But he don't want to feel like she dated up
because he don't want to make it look like, you know, anybody's.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Better than him. So he has a lot of self confidence.

Speaker 8 (03:35):
Exactly.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
It's good to have confidence, dry and secure. Raise your hand,
raise your hand. It's you sure don't come.

Speaker 7 (03:41):
Don't come for Cardi B?

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Now? So I mean, so do y'all wouldy'all feel that
way with y'all? Tell somebody, I mean, Ricky Special K,
Rocky Woul, y'all feel the job? Everybody left, y'all y'all
left that they dated down all they dated because I
think they dated anything.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Yeah, I'll say that.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Keep quiet man, speaking on it.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
You can't when they Yeah, when they pull up to
the school function their car on start.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
You know, when when they're out there and they got
to put some gas in the carburetor.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Oh no, she's sweating.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
And they got the hood up and you and your
range rover and and the kids decided to go go
ahead and ride home with you from the graduation and.

like you're concerned, and then just say, well, I.

it out to start ready to go.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Yeah, crak well, congratulations the fact.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
That he still got to carburetor. He don't have a
feeling shake.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Moving on, John, I'm just delivered to New y'all. I mean,
rock t. This is a very interesting story and you
probaly could help comeand this quarterback mister Jade and Daniels, y'all,
A lot of people are giving him flag. Baby. They
said that the Washington Commanders quarterback Honey is still catching
heat Honey from after taking his mama, what I say,
his mama baby missus Jinia Jackson on an all day

(05:11):
shopping street. Now they're saying, y'all that Jayden went vibrale
when he took his mama to Nima Mark's Baby let
her buy out the entire store. The twenty twenty four
NFL offensive rookie up the Year said, today, I was blessed,
hounded to treat my mama baby to her dad Nimas
you know, Honey, we had a great day shopping. We
also took He also took his mama to lunch. Now
they're saying he's seeing him putting up she was putting

(05:31):
on her makeup, baby trying on per film and all
that kind of stuff. They're saying, and you know, a
lot of people was very upset, he said, because he's
blessed happing mama for twenty three years, because that's his age.
But they said during the training cap, they're saying, Jayden
Honey granted a fan records y'all to sign her baby boy.
Now they said that kid is going to be the
next future franchise quarterback for the commanders. Now he signed
this little white baby boy honey, and said all this

(05:53):
this stuff on and people eating his lunch for that.
But a lot of people are very angry, they said,
because his mama is all up on him. She's not
letting him. They nobody said. She don't let him going
to day protect.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
She gotta protect. And you see what happened to what's
his name? Come on, man, I get that.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
I ain't heard wrong that you said.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
You put your whole life and and you're all the
hard working and did working at Arby's all through the
night to get him through school or whatever. You ain't
let nobody come and put him in a position to
take everything from him exactly.

Speaker 9 (06:23):
Yeah, But.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Mama's the mama's gonna protect now, his mama and is
his money one? Yeah, but by the streets he ain't
and his mama ain't having it.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
And I support his.

Speaker 10 (06:39):
Mother, and he's showing that Listen, your mama didn't sacrificed
her whole life for him, and now he's in a
position financially where he can't go.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Buy the whole store up and let her have fun
or whatever. But come on, now, carried him, honey, Yeah,
growing inside of her.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
No charge.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
But baby, the people saying she needs a damn hobby.
They're saying that, people saying hobby. Come on now, he
is the hobby.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Well I feel bad because the body was said, honey,
when you married somebody, don't you don't feel bad. That's
time to get married.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
He let him, Let him enjoy his career. He needs
to be focused on his career and his mother. He
got the rest of his life today.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Yeah, because because you started getting in these dark owned relationships.
And then if she don't understand and don't have no
the same home training that he have or whatever, she
can miss his whole mind up and and throw his
game off. Yeah, you don't know what it's like to
be in a bad relationship. And then you got to
go on stage and you can't focus on what you
need to do. You got to go on stage and

(07:42):
remember rap lyrics and stuff, and you got drama waiting
for you when you come off stage.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Hell no, I'm blaming mama.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
We need well, we're just gonna pray for the family then, honey,
because they got to pray.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Jesus said, Mama, that's why they together. Ye, and keep
your what you doing in my mind, you he ain't.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
He ain't in Walgreens stealing, making videos are stealing like
like like whatever, single parents, single parent home. She did
the damn good job with him, yes, Jesus, Yeah, you
don't see the us see no videos of him stealing
nothing nowhere.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yes, lord, he got a call Shannon Sharp friend and
see she got a friend. But woman, he was with him,
like the colade to day hunting is one of my
favorite coludes. My colorde to day guys, Peach sowbet on
the high you say, peach soybe and on the lawn
just say beautiful light ramage. That's your colord for the day.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Honey, you don't got so, lady, you don't even do
the colortle.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Right. Well, you know when the apple bee's.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
And had his work last night and all of a
sudden that ship comes up for in no research.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
No research.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Y'all are blazing.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Y'all give it up a Gary with the sea.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Did you see that post talk.

Speaker 7 (08:54):
Here's what's trending on The Lucky Smiley Morning Show.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
The Morning Show. A.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
There's no set time frame for how long a person
should wait before dating again after either a spouse passes
or a couple gets divorced. Now, it's a personal decision,
and the right time varies from person to person.

Speaker 7 (09:14):
Yeah, Rickie, Some people may feel ready to date again
within months, while others may need years or choose to.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Never date again.

Speaker 7 (09:21):
Ultimately, the decision should be based on individual readiness and
emotional well being.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Yeah, so, guys, we have a listener who in boxed
us asking for advice on his current situation. So he
lost his wife to cancer a couple of years ago,
and now you know, he's ready to get married again,
but his daughter's upset about it. Not really the marriage,
she's probably upset because he's been dating his deceased wife's
best friend and he recently proposed to her. So he

(09:51):
wants to know if he was wrong for dating the
best friend and proposing to her. And what is a
good time frame for a prisoner start dating again after
they lose a significant other.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
So this morning, we want to know whether you think
is he wrong for proposing to his late wife wife
best friend And when it's a good time to start
dating after losing a spouse. Gary, let's start with you
because I know you sitting up here spending in your chair.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Yeah, you know, I don't think he should date it
on wife's best friend number one because if the wife
knew she was sick and knowing that she was gonna
pop eventually passed, she would have left him a letter saying,
I want you to marry Monique because you know, I
think you and she would make a great couple. But
she's a good woman. I think she's a good woman
for you.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
You think she would bless that.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Yeah, if she wanted that happen, she should, she would
bless that. Secondly, with my dad, that huntry. I did
not want my mama to remarry, and she did not
remarry because she don't need to remarry.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Having a stepdaddy, that's.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
What I don't want because when you get the stepdaddy,
first of all, huney, he might not be a decent man.
He might have a damn a bunch of children somewhere,
and it's something happened to my mama.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
First.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Then they gonna come with want my daddy stuff. Your
dad ain't got nothing here. This is her stuff. So no,
I wouldn't want her to get married. I'm glad she
didn't get married. She had a friend and I didn't
care for him because he ain't had nothing if you
can't get somebody. But they just talked, you just had somebody.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
To talk to. He'll come over and sit on the porch.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yeah so, but so you don't. He don't need to
come up over here.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Think you damn it.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Don't be saying nothing like that, Ricky, Mama got you
went too far? Mam was not that.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
We can go to the next person. I don't want
to talk about that man.

Speaker 7 (11:39):
Yes, Mama, Gary, Mama, hay, you just get your smash.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Was not don't do stop mister smile. Your mama was
getting No, honey, my mom wouldn't do it.

Speaker 11 (11:56):
Nothing to say discover like that, moving is what are
your thoughts?

Speaker 12 (12:10):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (12:10):
I think he was wrong for that. My mom never
remarried either because my dad was like the love of
her life. But but if she would have wanted to
get remarried, I wouldn't have had a problem with it.
But not his best friend, not somebody that's a family
member or a friend that's off limits. That's weird.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Yeah. Well, my grandma died. My granddad said, hey, I
got a friend. I said, you did everything you were
supposed to do when my grandma was living.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
You this your house. You can, you can have whoever
you want over here. I'd be happy to meet her.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
And I'm dedicated and lawyer to my grandmother, But my
granddaddy got to live.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
But what if you already knew her.

Speaker 4 (12:43):
What if it was a friend of your grandmother's.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Oh, now that that was uh, yeah, that's awkward. I
mean it would it would be awkward or whatever. But
you know, if if she nice to him and bringing
him plates over there and stuff like that or whatever.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
You know, he already have a familiar relationship.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
She writes him up in the age and stuff.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Now, I wouldn't I wouldn't be too judgmental about it,
because man, you just don't know what somebody going through
mentally and emotionally.

Speaker 10 (13:12):
But on the other side of the conversation, that means
some people may say he and the girlfriend may have
already been messing around the part for the wife, somebody
paying attention to somebody.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Somewhere, they was messing around.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
But but you know, you've been around your wife, and
you've been watching for years, watching Timmy walk by with
that fat ass.

Speaker 7 (13:33):
That's why right there, that's the problem. That's why a
best friend or.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
You're a good man you ain't. You ain't looking at it.
I mean you've been seeing watching tim as with your
peripheral vision. You ain't never looked at it.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
That's why, like an eclipse.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Like, what's something to do? Makeup praditionation?

Speaker 7 (13:54):
Oh Jesus, Terry Cherry.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Yeah, buddy, you gotta been watching that, watching her walk
down the aisle.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Uh before your wife walked down out of the Bryant.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Oh that the onion sitting up there like that all
the years.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Let's go to the phones. I'm real ignorant now.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
I think that e Wy, good morning, this is leek
almost on the coffee station Texas.

Speaker 9 (14:27):
I bet you should go ahead on and get married
and move on.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
He's not bed and that's what she would.

Speaker 8 (14:32):
Want for that calling from Raleigh. I think that I say,
a year or two. It just really depends. Some people
don't like to be alone. But also when it comes
to the friends, that's a hard line. And I think
it depends on how long. But I joke with my
friends and say, when I leave this world, the first
one of y'all I see going to dinner or taking

(14:53):
my husband a pie, I'm coming to haunt you.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Hey.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
This is Tie from d c and uh, it depends
on the person. I don't think I will ever get
married again because I don't know anyone like I know
my wife. But if this is the guy's wife's friend,
then she should know him. Uh. He should know her

(15:15):
somewhat better than he would anybody else. So he wants
to be compatible with somebody.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
This is me calling from Maryland, and I think that's
definitely off limits.

Speaker 12 (15:28):
And I feel like.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
The guy has been had eyes on.

Speaker 12 (15:32):
The best friends the whole time he was married. And
that's a no, no, absolutely no.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
I had when when I was married my best friend,
I had always said, if anything that my best friend
was not married at the time. The first person I
met when I got to Woodlawn High School was Gerald.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
I was like, if.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Anything happened to me, I said, And I told her,
I said, man, please take care of her if anything
happened to me, you know uh. And I just always
had that conversation because he was a really really nice,
respectful he's married now, but but then he was not.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
He was very very very nice and respectful and cool.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
He looked out for me, he looked out for my wife.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
Couldn't he take care of her without taking care of her,
because can you look after her? Can he look after her?

Speaker 3 (16:22):
I would get God, God, God.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
I mean when you get to heaven, you don't know
if you're gonna be with with with who you was
with on earth anyway, you know what I'm saying, whatever
you know she had to live or whatever, you know,
and probably nobody else might not take care of her,
like you know what I'm saying, like, hey, you know, hey,
y'all just be together or whether and if y'all not

(16:45):
together together, that's fine, but just look out for her
and whatever whatever that leads to or whatever that's to
y'all's discretion. Because I'm gone, I'm not on this earth anymore.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
But your spiritual body be looking down on that.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
I ain't looking.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Down like you're out there to thick with some wings
on in heaven, walking on street paying go they bill.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
They ain't got to work paint on bills, none of
this something they they we see them as heaven their angels.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
But I'm sure I'm sure streets go. You heard me. Now,
Now you in heaven, you ain't got nobody to talk
to because you worried about.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Somebody down on earth. Then they're working at Burger King.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
Okay, so I had today we're having a brother who
wrote wrote in for some advice on dating and getting
married again after losing his spouse, and he wanted to
know how long should you wait? Should you uh you know,
and should you shut certain people be off limits?

Speaker 3 (17:43):
That's that's the main thing. Eight six sixty nine, Rick,
Let's go to the phones. Good morning to Jay. Some
call from Charlotte.

Speaker 9 (17:50):
I don't know if it's a limit, but it seems
like the individual doesn't.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Have any reference to the to that why date her friend?

Speaker 9 (18:02):
And the kids may not even be old enough to
really understand that, So a lot of communication may be
broken somewhere.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
Yes, I'm from Reginald.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
I'm calling from.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
Macon, Georgia. I think they should wait a minimum of
a year and family members should be off limits.

Speaker 12 (18:19):
My name is Farbara. I'm calling from in Anneapolis, Indiana,
and I think a year is enough time to regroup
after losing a spouse, depending on how long they were
married or people have been married. But there are definitely
people who are off limits, definitely, and friends and family
members top that list.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
Right the morning.

Speaker 9 (18:42):
The name is Daniel from Miami, Florida. I really don't
care for the amount of time I say, three or
six months. But as far as friends and family members
off limits.

Speaker 13 (18:54):
Yes, say I'll call it from Dayton, Texas. And I
don't think that there's a out of your suddenly limit
or amount of.

Speaker 8 (19:01):
Home that someone should wait to get married.

Speaker 13 (19:04):
And also to I just want to pay. I don't
think anywhere is off limits. I know when I was
married for all twenty two years, after about twelve years
of marriage, by excepting that we actually had a real,
very real conversation and gave each other, uh three people
that we chose in our circle, that we would be
okay with them, get three married uh us be married

(19:25):
with and them being able to raise our children. But
I think that's a very real commination that needs to happen.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
So so your your your wife at aka and and
uh and they want to do something something for you,
uh you know, she passed away and they want to
do something nice and member of your wife at the
uh at the boulet. Yeah, and they've they've feeling bad
for you and you walking there, you got your plaque

(19:53):
and stuff.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
And so you can't date none of that. You can't
date nobody.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Thousands and thousands and thousands and thousand in thouands and
now y'all now they.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Say foundily member. But what if let's just spread it
out a little bit.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
What if your wife was a Delton and she got
maybe not none of her lance. But what about somebody
in that chapter or in that district?

Speaker 3 (20:15):
What what's what's what's the rules?

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Because you can't do a lands but can you do
anything off in that chapter because she don't know all
to deal?

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Right? What about district? What about district?

Speaker 4 (20:27):
Have they been to your house with your husband? Like
it's a cord. You can't somebody who's been in my house?
That means that makes me think that maybe they've been
looking at him the whole time, Like.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
Have you about this?

Speaker 4 (20:37):
Oh yeah, you're right, but still it's off limits.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
So you married the Gloriala and something happened her. You
can't take six of red with.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
Up talk to.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Red Gloriala's best friend.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
You can't think nobody to have more hits?

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Oh wowe they the one hit?

Speaker 10 (21:01):
Wonder like if I, like, if I died, my wife
can only day a comedian is less successful than me?
But that's that ain't too many of them?

Speaker 2 (21:13):
She couldn't marry De Ray, I'd be pistols.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
Hey, if you died and you married.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Boy, she married De Ray? Why be heated because he's
tall and light skin and it got green eyes. Man
ain't nowhere in the bob. I would be haunting her
every night. Okay, what is?

Speaker 1 (21:30):
What is?

Speaker 2 (21:30):
She marry Leville Crawfords. He got more money than me
and he was just in a movie. Oh no, no, no, man, y'all.
She gotta marry Open Michael.

Speaker 6 (21:41):

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
