Emotional intelligence is a big phrase that's flying around at the moment - but does everyone actually know what it means?

Although this question is directed at husbands and men - the answers in this podcast are applicable to anyone who may not be emotionally available at all times.

Why don't people (often men) show more emotional intelligence?  Well, it's a learnt thing and often society has told men that showing emotion is not masculine.  Sometimes people have learnt that showing emotion is not safe for them, or they don't have the language skills to express their emotions.

In this episode Sandy will run through some ways that we (or our partners) can be more emotionally intelligent and available.

  • Self-Reflection - are you able to empathise with others?
  • Recognising your own feelings.
  • Listening to feedback and taking accountability.
  • Strengthening open communication.
  • Self-awareness and self-motivation (goal setting).

This podcast is a production of Brisbane's 96five and So Many Answers Counselling Service.
