“Sonic Tonic” is produced and hosted by guitarist, composer, and bandleader Greg Porée. A veteran of the Los Angeles studio and broadcast scenes, Porée has mentored and worked with many of California’s top jazz, blues, and world music artists.
“The Jazz Activist” features Porée’s in-depth interview with special guest Cathy
Segal-Garcia, a veteran jazz singer, composer, producer, and educator who has
been a driving force in keeping jazz alive and flourishing in Los Angeles and
around the world.
A master of duo performance, Segal-Garcia has recorded and performed with
many noted guitarists and pianists including Ted Greene, Joe Diorio, Larry
Koonse, John Pisano, Ross Tompkins, Billy Childs, Otmaro Ruiz, and Josh Nelson. She is known throughout the world for her performances and teaching,
especially in Japan where she has toured for over 25 years performing in jazz
clubs and festivals.
