Talanoa Ako NCEA Series 2026 – Week 2 Goals & Aspirations

In Week 2 of the Talanoa Ako NCEA Series 2026, we focus on Goals and Aspirations, encouraging students and families to reflect, reset, and plan for the year ahead. This session explores how learners can align their subject choices with future career or vocational pathways, while building a clear direction for success in NCEA. In this episode, we cover: • How NCEA is assessed at Level 1 • What assessment looks like for Levels 2 and 3 • Understanding internals vs externals • The difference between Achieved, Merit, and Excellence • What an endorsement means • What University Entrance is and approved subjects We also share practical study tips and simple ways parents can support learning at home — including time management, creating a quiet study space, and helping students stay organised with an assessment planner. For more information and resources, parents can access the Talanoa Ako digital app on the Google Play Store. To ensure our Pacific communities stay informed and connected, the Talanoa Ako series is available in seven Pacific languages — Cook Islands Māori, Fijian, Niuean, Samoan, Tokelauan, Tongan, and Tuvaluan — as well as English. For more helpful information and resources, parents can also access the Talanoa Ako digital app on the Google Play Store.
