Speaker 1 (00:03):
It's twenty five degrees in Jacksonville. It's thirteen in bath Tenants, Shetland.
This is TILL Talk, the official Jacksonville Jaguars UK and
Ireland podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Presented by Gallagher. I'm Jay Lawrence and the relation. He's
Key Ramsuran. Hey, coming up. We celebrate and there's only
one word for it.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Some days dramatic dramatic win in Sin City in the
company of jag MONTERK.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Brown.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Plus big signing news for the Jacksonville Jaguars on trade
deadline day and actually big signing news elsewhere inside the division.
Jason Bellet here as well to break down that overtime
win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Hey, it's been a
while since we've done this, Kiy, I have missed you
a great deal.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Gonna text me at any point I did, did you? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:58):
I think we texted at some point, but I really
liked There was one thing just to quickly talk about
Wembley your duval bit on social about the footballer that
was so greats.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Mae Morgan who did the first duval at Wembley Stadium.
He did an excellent job and of course you haven't
heard me talk about it whatsoever. The fact that I
did it the year before showed me up a little bit.
I think she did excellent.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
She was excellent. Yeah, I mean she.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Is a very successful sports person as well. I am
just a bloker, just talked on the microphone. Anyway, Anyway,
let's talk to some successful sports people and Key, very
quickly someone came up to me as well. The way,
I can't remember if I mentioned this last week, somebody
came up to me and said the Wembley game and
said Jay Lawrence no relation.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
I was like, yes, that's excellent. How long was the
pause too long?
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Because I've got very confused for a second, I didn't
know what they were going.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
It's your own fault. It's backfiring on you know.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Hey, what a weird game of the weekend, Key, I
actually I actually loved this game so much. Weird game,
but still I loved it. Neither team putting up much
on offense Jags Raiders. You know, no points after the
first quarter. At halftime it was only six y three
to the Raiders. Kicked off in the fourth and of
(02:21):
course went to overtime. When the Jags got that victory,
Cam Little is back three for three and a new
NFL record, and I felt like semi inevitable in a
way because we know that he can kick it from
seventy yards because we saw it in the preseason sixty
eight yards. Cam Little now holds the NFL record for
(02:42):
the longest field goal ever in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Key, absolutely unbelievable. Cam texted me last week and said
that in practice, even before he got to practice, he
kicked one from his apartment that was a mile and
a half.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Oh crazy, Do you know what?
Speaker 3 (03:02):
He kicked seventy yards in pre season sixty eight on Sunday.
I've got no doubt he's going to beat that record again.
I'm not saying necessarily this season, but you know it, dude,
it was like five yards past the posts, Like he'll
go further. He's got it in him, conditions, right, confidence, Right, Yeah,
he's got He's got more in the tank.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
And I think it's a It's really good as well,
because it's not as if Cam's had as consistent I
think a season as maybe he would have hoped. Last
year he was money. This year he has missed field goals.
He missed an extra point as well, which incredibly incredibly
unusual for Cam Little. So to be able to not
(03:45):
only go three for three and actually have some really
important kicks, I mean at the end of the first half,
of the end of the second half as well, But
to get that record, I think he's going to be
spur him on get that confidence back, do.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
You know what?
Speaker 4 (03:58):
So?
Speaker 3 (03:58):
I read an article during the week and I was
so impressed because in it cam Little is so self aware.
He was talking really openly and honestly about his lack
of confidence after the Rams game and going into the
bye week, and how he'd started to work on building
up his confidence during the bye week, and he said
(04:19):
that going into the Raiders game he started to feel
more confident. It's a really I can't remember where the
article was, but it.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Was really nice.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
He was just really open and nice about the fact
that he was struggling and he bounced back in a
big way on Sunday man.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
In a big way, in a big way. Did you
watch it on Sunday night, Jake? Yeah, I watched it
on Sunday night. And that's why.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
I you know, when you get that, it's a good way.
It's a good tension. That good tension almost like in
your chest when you're watching a team and it's really
closed and it's going down to like, you know, the
final few seconds. That's how I felt, and it was
and it was, you know, amazing because obviously in overtime
the Jags sort of went down the field fairly, not
easily per se, but it looked like they'd won the game,
(05:00):
and the Raiders come back and it's like, you know, they
get the touchdown. Shout out to Raiders brock Bowers, who
is an unbelievable player.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
I mean, it was basically the Jacksonville Jaguars versus brock back.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
It felt like that at the time. It was it was,
it was crazy, it was crazy. But then obviously de
Von Hamilton managing to get his hand onto the Geno.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
SMA getting face masked. Yeah, it was a great ending,
a really great ending.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
A couple of things I want to bring up, and
you know, we might bring this, We might speak to
Jason a little bit about these as well.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Injuries.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
It really felt like Trevor Lawrence was needing to pass
to himself. Foremost, do you know about Trevor being poorly exactly?
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I heard that as well.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
So he was he was, he was not well the
night before I think that's probably the best way of.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Putting you right up until and during the game. Is
that right during the game and during the game.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
So the resilience on offense with the amount of players that,
by the way, right.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
I can do Armie Brown, I'll be feeling sorry for myself.
I can watch the Army Brown play all day. I
love that player. What a number.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
But the amount of players that went down or are
already out injured on offense to be able to pull
that out, particularly Travel Lawrence, like the levels of resilience
fantastic to say. I think there's some work to do
on defense and special teams from this weekend.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
But you know, will betj he went out, the Army
Brown went out. I mean Hunter Long went out at
one point as well. He was really Hunter didn't I mean,
well yeah, I mean I'll got into that in a second.
But like you know, it's it really felt at points
that you were relying on, you know, the next man
out mentality, And I know that's exactly what players say,
(06:38):
don't know, you know, all it is is just the
next man up.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Next depth was there? Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Shout out to Parker Washington. Shout out to Travis Etn
as well. Travis Etn by the way, who my in
my book, is one of the top running backs so
far this season.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Parker Washington.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I think he's always been a consistent pass catcher throughout
his career. In the last couple of years, particularly this
year as well, he's really really shown it. Travis Hunter.
You mentioned their key. Yeah, best game in London. We
were really hoping that he'd be able to kick on
after the bye, but he is now on IR. If
you if you watch the game and you were wondering
anyways Travis Hunter, Well, he's on IR non contact knee injury,
(07:15):
which is forwards that you never.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Want to hear. Key Yeah, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
I think we missed Travis Hunter on defense on Sunday
because I think he would have made a difference to
the coverage on brock Bowers. But it was impressive to
see the offense step up, like you say, Parker Washington,
step the hands on that kid that was really good
to pass, like Trevor Lawrence was firing some so fast
(07:43):
and not even into the bread basket, like to his
left or right, and he's like pulling these diving catches in.
I was so impressed with Parker Washington.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Yeah, I think that that was particularly good to watch
as well, because you know, there were some drops in
the London game from Darker Washington and dropped some other
players as well, But you know, we saw a good
before performance from him, and I'm just hoping that everybody
can get back healthy in time for the next game
of a divisional game of course, against the Houston Texans.
And I'll tell you what, it's a perfect time to
move on. Let's go over to Jason Bell, who is
(08:15):
joining us, and it has to be said the former
Houston Texan.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
We are joined as usual by Jason Bell nfl pandit Jason.
We're going to get into the Raiders game in a second,
but for now, the Texans are coming up on Sunday.
I need to know where we stand with your playing history.
Are we talking to a Jaguar or a Texan right now?
Speaker 5 (08:39):
Listen, Houston. I had some good years in Houston. They
cut the checks. It was great, So I'm always going to.
Speaker 6 (08:46):
Have that in my heart.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
But I'm a relationship guy, like I believe in my
relationships with my friends.
Speaker 6 (08:53):
I value them.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
They are so important to me and me and Trevor Man,
I don't know if he feels the same way, but
it's so good.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
It's so you feel the same way.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
Jab guy, bro, Like that's my dude.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
So it's very hard for me to ever root against
him once again. Love Houston, love the city, love everything
about it, and know about this matchup and what it
means and how competitive and fun it is to watch
and to play in it.
Speaker 6 (09:24):
But I'm always going to root at this moment for
Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
I mean, that's you know a lot of kids now,
and you know, I consider myself a kid, so I
gotta I gotta say this.
Speaker 6 (09:33):
Root for players.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
They root for players, they follow players, you know, and
I root for Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 6 (09:39):
So that that is my answer.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
I'm j Bell.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Just to be clear, you do speak to Trevor every
every time that you know they're over here every year.
This is the big testament in your friendship. Do you
have to reintroduce yourself every year?
Speaker 5 (09:51):
Now it's a big hug immediately, like it's it's a
meedily a big hug.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Now.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
I have some people I'm not gonna name because they
might want to remain aimless, but they got juice in
the Jaguars organization, so they can go over and walk
him up to me and hand him to me, and
they're like they reintroduce me. So I feel good, But
I think it's them that make it happen for me.
Of so, yeah, I'm as lot.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Did you feel good?
Speaker 6 (10:15):
It's good, Steel good.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
It's a big huss And you know, I'll be honest,
I watch a lot of his tape, so i'm able
when we first start talking, I'll break down something I
saw and for him, he appreciates that. Like I love
the way he's doing the play action pass. Now he
never did it in college. I think it works for him.
So we had a really good conversation on that.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Jason, let's do this talking about how we beat the
Texans in a minute. But first the drama. Oh we
love a bit of drama, Jason. The drama of the
wind against the Las Vegas Raiders. First of all, how
was this game won?
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Oh my gosh, Cam little Man, the kick, the kick
of the year, the kick of a century, record sett
and field goals.
Speaker 6 (10:55):
I mean that's what it was about.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
This is why you want a valuable kicker who can
come through in a clutch. So definitely with his big kicks.
But I still Trevor Man. He had some good drives,
especially when it counted, used his legs in the red area,
So I have to give him a lot of credit
because of that. But it all starts with Cam little
and his ability to kick those field goals and in
clutch moments. Man, that's what made it happen for him.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Well, you might have answered my second question already. Which
Jacks player was the MVP?
Speaker 6 (11:23):
Man, Cam little Brook. Gotta give it to the kicker
when it mattered, you know. I mean he came through
and he had that long.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
One do I think seventy yards in the preseason or
something like that, So he showed he can do it.
He had distance on this one. And what this does
for you think about it as an offensive play caller.
I mean you're like, man, if we just get into range,
we're walking away with three every single time, and that
is so valuable. And Cam little came through, Man, shout
out to him. I loved it, man, And especially before halftime. Man,
(11:50):
he had them boys juiced up, and that middle eight
of the game is where they took advantage and really
kind of found themselves.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
So what was the key moment or the turning point
that we might have missed.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
I like Trevor Lawrence's second rushing touchdown. I think that
was a really key moment in the game for me.
And also the deflection by Hamilton Wow on it.
Speaker 6 (12:11):
I mean that that that was it.
Speaker 5 (12:13):
I don't know if the pass would have been completed,
but the way he timed that, like with two people
on him, that was key. So I look at those
two moments and I'm thinking, man, those were those were
quite pivotal.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
One needs to improve ahead of the next game.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
Well, I mean, any fan who watched the game is
gonna be like, yeah, Jay Bell, that's obvious. And it's
the coverage of the tight ends, right, rock Bowers went loose.
But I'm saying, don't pan it because Rock Bowers is
the man like he is different, so you can improve
on that. A lot of times the way they were
dropping down in zone covers, they were just kind of
missing him in the voar in the zones and kind
(12:50):
of covering grass and that's what he does well. Also,
I think they need to improve on their pass I mean,
on their rush defense. They need to get the sacks,
they need to get the quarterback on the ground, So
I think that'll be key especially next week.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
And how do the Jags beat the Texans. C. J.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
Stroud will probably be in the custom protocol maybe, But
if so, you've got to play against Davis Mills.
Speaker 6 (13:17):
Make him beat you. You literally make him beat you.
Speaker 5 (13:20):
Take away everything, make him beat you over and over again.
Speaker 6 (13:24):
That is the key.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
And in reality, you want to do what you kind
of did this week, which is control the clock, man,
because this is a great defense you're playing against.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
So if you can just.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
Really have some long, sustaining drives, that'll be that'll be
really key. And contain that they're tight end Dalton Schultz
because I mean he can get loose on you.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
I mean, actually, that's that's a good point in that really,
because there are a couple of drives in particular that
the Jags really did control the clock. First drive obviously
ended up with the interception that in the end zone,
which is no ideal. And then of course in overtime,
I mean, the raid Is were able to come back
and get that tough down, but it really looked like
they had taken down the club. It's so far, you know,
(14:05):
in overtime, when the Jacks got that touchdown, it looked
to be like a really hard situation for the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
So that's really quite impressive, isn't it.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
Yeah, without a doubt, And it does a lot of things.
For it gives you confidence, right, get you in a flow.
Everything is rhythm and football, So if your offense has
long sustaining drives, it means.
Speaker 6 (14:20):
You're in rhythm.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
But on the other side of the ball, what it
does for your defense, less defense is best defense.
Speaker 6 (14:27):
What do I mean by that?
Speaker 5 (14:28):
If you're not on the field, you're fresh, you're fast,
especially your guys up front. So I talked about wanting
to get sacks, wanting to make sure you put the
quarterback on the ground. Well, if they're firing off the
ball because they're rested because of these long sustaining drives,
well there you go. So it's all about complimentary football
and maintaining possession. Long drives is the key to that.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
I also just feel like this is a the visional game.
And as you know, because you've spoken before about you know,
the rivalry, but when you were playing for the Texans
against the Jags just means more. But not even emotionally,
it means more when it comes to the divisional record.
Speaker 5 (15:07):
Jason, without a doubt, because that's the best way to
get in the playoffs. You know, when your division you're in,
one thing is a player. When you go into these games,
you have the mentality of a bar.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
Fight, and I do not condone fighting in a bar
at all.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
What I mean is, you know it's gonna be real,
it's gonna be tough, So you're getting your mind primed
throughout the week.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
The way you're prepared. You know it's gonna be a fight.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
You're familiar with your opponent, but you know they're going
to bring up the energy, so you got to tap
into that quickly, and that is going to be the key.
That's what makes this so fascinating because these teams are
gonna go at each other.
Speaker 6 (15:44):
It's gonna be a good time.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Jason speaking about the pass rush.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
Right on Sunday, Joshunzalen equals the franchise record for sacks.
How much difference does it make to a team the
team as a whole. Obviously for josh Heinzealen, it would
make a huge difference for him to break that record.
How much difference does it make for the team for
a player to do that, and especially if he manages
(16:08):
to do it against division rivals in the Texans.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
First of all, it's huge, especially when it's a guy
everybody respects.
Speaker 6 (16:15):
Let's start there. They like it, they like him.
Speaker 5 (16:16):
Everybody who meets him talks about his personality, what kind
of person he is, what kind of player he is,
so they're all rooting for him, and you all, every
player wants to be on a team where somebody breaks
a record because you're a part of history. Hey I was,
I played with him, So yes, obviously that's big because
of who is as a person and what he has done.
But against this kind of opponent, it just totally means more.
(16:39):
Everything in football, in life is a story, you know,
how do you tell it?
Speaker 6 (16:44):
Does it make sense? Does it sound good?
Speaker 5 (16:46):
And it just the way you presented it to me,
It's gonna flow off the tongue like honey when he
talks about that in the future, where he did it,
how he did it, and.
Speaker 6 (16:55):
Who he did it against. And that's the key man.
So I hope he makes it happen, gives him that spark.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
For our last predictions because of the bye week, our
last predictions were for the Rams game in London, when
two of us predicted last moment cam little heroics.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Just went too soon, just went too soon.
Speaker 7 (17:14):
You.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
I was saying it every week, to be fair, I
didn't get to say it last week.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
The one week you should have said it, Key, and
you didn't say it. I did, just no one heard.
Speaker 6 (17:24):
There was a lot of people in finance that say
that all the time. I was right, yes, so.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Soon. So I made a huge last.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
That means it's still Jason seven, j six key four
this week the Texans Key, because your last, you get
to go first. I'm going to go low scoring of
fair thirteen ten Jags and Josh Heinz Allen breaks the
sack record this week.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Okay, well, yeah, okay, I can see that. I can
see that. J Bill.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
I'm going one you on seventeen Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Yeah, okay, yeah, nice.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
I think a lot depends on who is at quarterback
for this Houston Tewn.
Speaker 6 (18:10):
I'm going with Davis Mills too be in the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
And this, by the way, it's going to be twenty
twenty ten, twenty ten to the Jags.
Speaker 6 (18:19):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
I think that what you said earlier, Jason was pretty
spot on, which is, if you just need to get
after Davis Mills, if you make him uncomfortable. If you
make it so he is questioning everything, questioning where he is,
questioning his surroundings, then this could be a game where
hopefully you should never say it. I hope it's a
(18:42):
comfortable victory. You should never say it. You should never
say it.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
I'm so clipping that depending on what happens.
Speaker 6 (18:49):
Not safe out here is.
Speaker 5 (18:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
I was thinking, you can't you can't say anything. You
can't say anything, and Jason as well. I mean, I
don't know whether to ask you to do another you know,
big big hype mind's speech and we past that now,
you know, I.
Speaker 6 (19:04):
Mean, do you want to save them? You know what
I'm saying. It all depends. I mean, let's let's be
honest here. Okay. Sometimes as the.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
Coach, you come in and you you gotta motivate your team.
Speaker 6 (19:14):
It's up to you.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
You come you come in the meeting on a Monday,
really on a Wednesday, and you say, this is our opponent,
this is who they are, this is what we gotta do.
When you start to you start to build that narrative.
But you don't need to build a narrative this week.
You know the narrative it is street beef, it's hate.
We're going at it. We don't have to say anything
(19:34):
to anybody. We look each other in the eye and
we go we know who that is across there, and
we know what they're gonna bring, and you know what
we're gonna bring more. Get ready, build yourself up mentally
and physically, because it's going to be a battle. Hold
it in because this thunderstorm, this thunderstorm, this aggressive crowd, noise,
(19:59):
all of it, it's gonna come. It's gonna be real,
and we just gotta run through it. That's all you
got to say.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Chase, have you ever been a best man?
Speaker 6 (20:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Yeah, yeah, my brother.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
But I did drop the mic on the ground, and
I realized you probably shouldn't drop the mic on a dance.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Everyone.
Speaker 6 (20:20):
I was tripping, man.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Did you literally Mike at the end of the speech.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
I Mike dropped and I and I glided away. I didn't.
It was like my feet didn't hit the ground, you know, Yeah,
it was, it was.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
It was. It was pretty good. It was It was fun.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Were you the highlight of the wedding. Everyone was just
talking about you. Everyone they were.
Speaker 5 (20:38):
Talking about They were talking about the the in and out.
That was delivered late night. They really liked that and
that we ran out of the bar quickly. They were like,
We've never seen this happen before, and I was like, listen,
you know, this is who we are.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
So yeah, it was a family. It's a good time,
good time.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
J Bel, thanks so much for coming on to see
you next week.
Speaker 6 (20:58):
All right, till next week.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
I thank you very much to Jason Bell. I'm just
saying that he should be a Best Man for Hire.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
The New Job. That's excellent film where someone does that.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
If there's not it's a good idea and we should
pitch it best Man for Hire, starring Adam Sandler alongside
Jason Bell.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
It's one of those films I think. I feel like
Owen Owen Wi. Yeah, he's that film. Yeah, and what's
his name, Vince Vaughan? That lot?
Speaker 1 (21:33):
That lot all right, and we're gonna be catching up
with a Jags player very very soon.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
First, so let's get onto the Duval dispatches.
Speaker 6 (21:42):
Now.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
The game, of course at Wembley maybe over, but the
team are still working hard over here.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Now. Jag Tag is an ever president in schools and
after school clubs growing young Jaggs fans of the future. Plus,
I also know the discussions are ongoing about a potential
watch party in December, so of course keep it on
till talk because we will be updating you on that
as soon as we know more.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Incredibly exciting and also, as if that wasn't enough, International
Fan of the Year is open for Jaguars fans to
either apply themselves or nominate a fan that they fail
deserves not only the title of International Fan of the Year,
but also a trip to the twenty twenty six NFL
Draft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Jay, Are you going to nominate me? No? Okay, Fans
can now nominate.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Themselves or represent their team at the twenty twenty six
International Fan of the Year at NFL dot com Forward
slash Fan of the Year and.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Also the deadline, by the way, got to mention the
deadline November seventeenth, not long away, just in case you
aren't aware of the current date. Not long away, so
get it in NFL dot Com Slash Fan of the
Year coming up in a moment, we'll be speaking to
Monterek Brown, the Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback. Of course, first there
we've got to talk about the big signing news for
(23:01):
the Jags brand new wide receiver joining the Jags offense,
Jacoby Myers, coming over from the well team that the
Jags has played the Las Vegas Raiders for a fourth
and sixth joining in what you know, in my opinion,
what is already a stacked wide receiver rooms. It's really
exciting to see Jacoby Myers join the Jags. And also
got to mention it, got to mention it a new
(23:23):
person that is going to be elsewhere in the division,
elsewhere in the AC South for the Indianapolis Colts. Source Gardner,
brand new quarterback for the Colts, trading over two first
round picks, going to be a big addition, which means
that's going to be you know, another great player that
Brian Thomas Junior, Travis Hunter, Jacoby Myers, you know, all
(23:46):
of these, you know, great players for the Jags is
going to have to face twice the year, twice this
season as well. Okay, let's get over to Monteric Brown.
My conversation with the Jags cornerback.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
How's it going man? How you doing man?
Speaker 4 (24:00):
It's going great.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
I mean you've.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Probably moved past it now. But let's touch on that
Las Vegas Raiders. When congratulations. I mean a huge impact
play for you with that interception. Talk me through that play.
Speaker 7 (24:10):
I was on a single size and I got motioned
over coverage. I can cover too, so I had to
keep my leverage on the outside receiver. So I just
hands seeing Geno just looking down the receiver and I
just made a play.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
How do you feel, give me your emotions, right, so
you've caught that ball. How do you feel immediately afterwards?
Speaker 7 (24:27):
I mean, I feel great, you know, to get the
first interception of the year. You know, I'm just trying
to continue to make plays, so it feel great.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
I mean the Jacks defense for the first half of
the season, I swear it's just been like interception after interception,
pick after pick. I mean, why do you think it's
been so effective the Jacks defense that you know, intercepting
the ball?
Speaker 4 (24:43):
You know, that's what we're doing practice. You know, day
in and day out.
Speaker 7 (24:46):
Man, we hone ourselves on getting takeaway, stopping to run
and eliminate big plays.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
So man, we do it. We do it every day
in practice and it just translated to the game.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
And talk to me about the corner of that creow,
you know, the dB room a little bit you know
at the moment as well, because you know Travis Hunter
on IR, Jordan Lewis has you know, has been injured.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Tyson Campbell of course was traded away. You've really stepped
up over the last few weeks on you.
Speaker 7 (25:10):
Yes, sir, you know, it's the next man mentality, the
next the next man got to step up and make
plays and you know, do their job, so that that's
the mentality.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
And it's the Houston Texans this weekend, obviously divisional game.
You don't know if it's going to be c. J.
Stroud or David's Mills at quarterback. You know, I'm just
wondering from like your perspective, does that even phase you?
Do you think about it or is it just you know,
let's just go no matter what.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
No matter what, who the quarterback, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 7 (25:37):
But right now in my mind, we're preparing for but
if it's not being a David Mills and we're prepared
for him, but it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
We have former Houston Texan Jason Bell on the podcast
every week and he said that the rivalry between the
Texans and the Jags is underrated and when he played
for the Texans, he could really feel it, you know,
from your perspective, how is it?
Speaker 7 (26:01):
It's a crazy feeling, no crazy atmosphere. Time we play
each other, man and man, there's two teams that don't
like each other and we get after we get after it.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
Do you talk more smack on the field when it's
like these sorts of games.
Speaker 7 (26:14):
Nah, I don't really talk to Meg. I mean I
will if you say something to me, but man, I'll
just be out there balling.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Lockdan, You're kind of like a chill kind of player.
Then you think when you're on the field.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
Thing sometimes sometimes sometimes.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
I want to go back a few years. Actually, I
want to talk about Arkansas for a second. I actually
specifically want to talk about a current teammate of yours
that you played with briefly, but you did play with Arkansas,
Cam Little with the longest field goal ever in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
I mean, look, you were on the sidelines at that point.
Talk to me about what was going on the sidelines
when that happened.
Speaker 7 (26:48):
I didn't realize it was the record at the moment,
but man, just seeing him hit that man with big time,
and man, I just seen him grow and just play
throughout the year that Arkansas and then just get the
chance to play with him in a lead him and
it's incredible.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Man.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
He a straight dog.
Speaker 7 (27:02):
So man, I love that for Cam and I'm excited
that I'm his teammate.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
And man, we just continue to play together.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
I mean, look, he's fresh faced now. You know, I
don't know what it looked like an eighteen years old.
What can you tell us about playing with him and
what he was like, because, as I say, he played
off the bat, didn't he was he was eighteen years old,
he was freshman.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
You know when I first seen Cam, I knew it instantly.
He was special.
Speaker 7 (27:24):
He was just making incredible kids come in as a
freshman man. I like, he got a chance playing the
league and it fanned out and he's doing great things
in the league.
Speaker 6 (27:32):
Now.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Yeah, he's actually been really vocal over the last couple
of weeks about how he hasn't had the season that
he's wanted to talk to me a little bit about
how the team has had had his back.
Speaker 7 (27:44):
That's what teammates do. You know, you see your brother down,
and man, you just continue to talk to him and
keep him positive and just keep him playing good. So, man,
we see our teammates down, will pick him up, and man,
he's going to continue to do great things.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
Do you think you two have like a more the
bonds you think because of that Arkansas connection?
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Yeah, definitely, definitely, for sure. Man, we see each other.
Speaker 7 (28:05):
We always talking talk throughout the locker room, so there's
always good conversation between us.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
I want to mention a cornerback actually that that has
just joined the division as well. You'd just seen this,
no doubt in the UH joining the Indianapolis Colts. Source
Gardener has joined the Colts. What was your reaction when
you saw that?
Speaker 7 (28:25):
It was crazy. I didn't expect that, you know. But
it's good for them, I guess. So I wish them
the best. So I hope, I hope you pan out.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
For the Jags. Jacoby Mayers has joined in the receiver room.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Has he been out on the field yet. Have you
been able to see him catching some balls?
Speaker 7 (28:40):
Yeah, definitely, you know, I've seen him and just in
the game and the next day, yeah, the next weekend.
It's crazy, but I've seen him today and man, he
got some good releases, good routes, and man, we excited
to have more team.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
No, it's probably weird, actually, thinking about it because this
time last week were you studying his plays.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Yes, it's crazy, that is.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
The NFL is a weird a weird beast, isn't it?
Every now and again?
Speaker 1 (29:04):
And lastly, I know that the result wasn't what you
wanted when you were over here in London. But I
want to know what your your highlights were. I want
to know how you what your time was like when
you were over here.
Speaker 4 (29:17):
I went downtown. No, the first day we came over
and I enjoyed it.
Speaker 7 (29:21):
You know, I had some family members over there and
we just went around and explored and I had me
some fish and chips.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
I definitely enjoyed it this time.
Speaker 7 (29:29):
I always enjoyed every year, but man, it was another
great trip to London, and I enjoyed it.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
Work time to London.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
You like the fish and chips? Yes?
Speaker 4 (29:36):
Yes, the first thing when I get over there.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
That's what I want to hear. Thank you so much
for joining us, man, and good luck this weekend.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Jay.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
How lucky your way that we get to chat to
a different Jags player every week?
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Yeah, it's amazing, I tell you what this Isn't this
isn't the most controversial things to say, Way better when
it's a Jags win, Way better, way more fun to
talk about a win into you know, talk about the
upcoming game as well, when there's been a victory, and
of course the upcoming game against the Houston Texans. Already
one victory against the Texans for the Jacksonville Jankubs so
(30:15):
far this season.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Let's make it two out of two.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
You know, we do record this earlier on in the week,
and of course injury reports come out, you know, daily,
and we aren't quite sure what's going on with the
quarterback with the Houston, whether CJ.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Stroud is going to start, whether it's going to be
Davis Mills.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
And also we you know, we don't know what's going
on as yet in regards to the injuries that the
Jacks have gone through.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
Key.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
So it's all slightly i wouldn't say, up in the air,
but it's all yet to be sort of figured out, isn't.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
It doesn't make a difference in a way. That doesn't
make a difference in the way that that Cam littlefield
goal rallied the team to come back and win that
second half of that game against the Raiders, the win
against the Raiders, rallies the team and they come back
and they beat the Texans. No problem doesn't matter who's
under center.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
The confidence with Kei ram suring. Actually, I'm going to
say this is what we've been missing, but we don't.
It's here every week. It's here every week. It just
gets topped by Jay Bell these days. Yeah, it does.
Oh really quickly.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
I just want to say, I mean I mentioned them
in the last episode actually, but I've got a really
lovely email from Alfonso, who is a JIGS fan who
I met at I met briefly at Wembley and introduced
me to his son, Rodrigo, and they both listen to
Till Talk together every single week.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
And I just think that's amazing.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
Yeah, they go to every event that they can possibly
go to. I've met them with Rhys Parkinson a few times.
And what's fascinating is that the different range of accents
between father and son, because the father sounds European and
the son sounds Irish.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
Lovely to be fair key, I think that's what happens
when you grow up in Ireland.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
That's exactly the same with me and my dad. Why
is that special anyway?
Speaker 1 (32:05):
But it's a it's a it's amazing to always hear
from people who listen to till Talk to it. It's
really really appreciated. And remember if there are Jags fans
in your life that you know from the UK from
Ireland that don't listen to till Talk, we'll go and
send him it. Send in a podcast, go and share it.
That's what we want to do. Can you tell I'm
plugging it? Can you tell I'm plugging it?
Speaker 2 (32:26):
Anyway? He's the phrase though, Oh no, I'll use that
at the end. It's fine, it's fine. Oh wait, you
can find till Talk. I'll do it now. You can
find till Talk wherever you get your podcasts. There we go.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
But it's as if you don't know. I mean, you
listen to the podcast now you know, you know, you
know how to get to it.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Anyway. Anyway, key, I'll see you in a few days
after after against the Texans bro exactly. This has been
till Talk in association with Gallagher, a shooting sharp production
for Jacksonville, Janggus, UK and Ireland. And do not forget if.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
You are if you want a much Jags UK and
Island content as possible, get on over to the Jaggers
UK on YouTube to get you to our official channel.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Some excellent stuff has gone up on the YouTube channel
in the last couple of weeks. Particular favorite of mine
Race Parkinson's sitting down with Josh Ein's Island in London.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Super a lot full of stuff.
