Speaker 1 (00:02):
It's there.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
One degrees in Jacksonville, fourteen degrees in Burnley, fifteen degrees
in Dublin.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
This is Till Talk, the official Jacksonville Jaguars, UK and
Island podcast, presented by Gallagher.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
I'm Jay Lawrence. No relation Key ramsurens here as well.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
That pauses getting longer.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
It's gonna be half an hour before long.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Jason Bell is going to be breaking down the Jags
performance against the Cincinnati Bengals and looking at what needs
to happen when we face the Texans this weekend. Plus
a bit later on, actually we're going to speak to
UK Jags fan Dylan.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Dylan went over to Florida for Week one.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Fair to say, he struck up quite a romance with
one particular Jaggs player, which I'm very excited to hear about.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
I heard a little bit about this, but yes, I'm
very excited to hear more. Some good stuff coming up today.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Man oh.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Friend of the podcast, Jaggs Boyer Lookan joins us a
little bit later on Until Talk as well. Okay, the
Jaguars one and one on a high scoring game in
Cincinnati went back and forth. Jags couldn't quite finish the job.
Thirty one, twenty seven to the Bengals, and it really
felt as well that the game was sort of there
for the winning as well, because the Jags it felt like,
(01:14):
controlled it for the majority of the game. So I
would put this one down as a frustrating lost.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Key Jay, you can ask me all the questions you
want today. I am going to brush you off, wave
you away with a simple hand gesture. You can stay
on the sideline beating your chest.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
There's a lot of people talking about this moment. I
look at that and go there are two people who
care about winning, and that's it. Explain what happened Trevor Lawrence.
For arguments, they go overthrew right. So coach Cohen is
on the sideline banging his chest, saying, aim at the chest,
Aim at the chest. Trevor Lawrence waves him away with
a hand gesture to say, obviously, I know where to aim.
(01:55):
People are reading into it communication problems, relationship problems between
Trevor Lawrence and coach Coen. Absolute nonsense. There are two
people who care about winning. That's what happened in that moment.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Let's move on, please, Well, let's talk about a couple
of moments in the fourth quarter as well, it looked
like the Jags could sort of ice the game if
Brian Thomas Junior was able to catch a ball. And
there was also a part interference call on Travis Hunter
as well, which to me, people are speaking about this
but not maybe to the same extent that was such
a killer against the Ben Gord And I look at
(02:26):
that and I think, I don't see this. I think
that Travis Hunter, I think the Janks would treat badly
on that particular call.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Key, So I agree with you, But I also think
throughout the season, all of these calls work themselves out,
level themselves out. It's easy as fans to focus on
what we consider to be a bad call. Yeah, it
probably was a bad call, but next week we'll have
three calls go in our favor against the Texans. So
(02:52):
I think let's move on from that. What we need
to be thinking about. There were plus sides on both
sides of the ball. There were things that looked really,
really good. We're not gonna win games if we're beating ourselves.
We've talked about it so many times, and this is
an age old culture thing. If we're giving away penalties,
if there are missed opportunities, drop balls. We're not gonna
(03:13):
win games if we're beating ourselves. And for me, that's
what happened on Sunday, And that's where that you're using
the word frustrating. I completely agree that that's what was frustrating,
is we beat ourselves on Sunday. We should have won
that game.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Well, let's look at the positives in that particular game
as well. I think we've had two weeks now where
the offense has shown growth since last season.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Yes, the victory wasn't it.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yes, there might have been some players who didn't work
out exactly how the Jags offense wanted it to work out.
But generally speaking, this early on in the season, I'm
feeling all right, particularly about how the offense is playing.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Oh. I did not come out of I came out
of Sunday frustrated. As you said. Am I worried about
what's happening with the Jaguars. Absolutely not. There was too
much good stuff there to be worried about it. And
the things that can be fixed are relatively he fixes.
So yeah, I'm not worried. I think I think we'll
be fine. And also, like we said in Week one,
going up against the Panthers. The Texans are not looking good.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Yeah, well that's what I was going to say.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Say next Yeah, it's a really interesting game and we'll
talk a bit about that of course with Jason Bell.
Will be on shortly Texans next six pm UK time Sunday.
Feels like a big game this early on in the
season because the Jangs can make it two and one.
The Texans they just lost on Monday Night Football to
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers within the last twenty seconds. They're
(04:33):
oh and two right now. This is the team that
I think it's fair to say are the favorites or
were the favorites anyway in the AFC, and it south
completely looks, you know, slightly lopsided, as suppose with Indianapolis
colds now.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Thought I was looking at the standings today and I
was like, this table looks almost like it's upside down.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
But what makes it so exciting, I think from a
JAG's point of view, is that this is a real
opportunity early on in the season to get ahead in
the division, in especially above a team that beat the
Jags twice last year.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Key Yeah, revenge time, revenge time. Titans aren't looking great.
Texans aren't looking great. Colts are looking all.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Right to and no right there, they were just a
kick away from losing a penalty away from again They're
not looking So it feels like an opportunity early on
this and I think that starts with this Sunday. All right,
let's welcome NFL pundit Jason Bell to til Talk, who
course actually played for Texans in their first two seasons
that broke many bones in a Houston Jersey.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
He's joining us. Jason, Hello, how's it going.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
What's up? Fellas? Are as good?
Speaker 5 (05:39):
Another week of NFL football to have great conversations, and
it's time to talk about the chair Wars.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Baby love it Jason. First things first, Jaguars Texans coming up.
You are one of the only people in the world
that can talk about this unique rivalry. You used to
play for the Texans and now you are a self
confessed exclusive Jaguars fan.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
This is a fact. I don't know how this happened.
I do know how this happened.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
It's my love for Trevor Lawrence anyways, So this is
crazy because I was on that first team right in
two thousand and two. I believe and we were an
expansion team and we had no rivals, right like, we're
just trying to figure it out. But all of a sudden,
that hate that became of that game was so crazy.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
We hated each other.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Like I'm telling you, I had come from the NFC East,
where you know, you got the Giants playing the Cowboys
all that kind of stuff, and it was that kind
of intensity when we played each other. I mean it
it went to another level and every time we played,
we knew it was going to be a fight when
we played each other. And it's still like that to
this day. And I don't know how it developed. I
(06:50):
don't know who knew who on the other team, but
my goodness, it was fun and it was scary. We
used to come out bruised and beat up and I
loved it.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Man.
Speaker 5 (06:59):
I have so much respect for those guys because of
the games we used to play against each other.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
I mean, you've got to talk to us about one
of your teammates back in two thousand and two, first
season of course of Houston in the NFL, your teammate
Tony Biselli. Can you share some memories of Tony?
Speaker 5 (07:17):
First of all, Tony was the man like when he
came in there, he was such a baller. He was
I mean, he was one of the best tackles in
the game. But he had a shoulder injury, so he
spent a lot of time kind of trying to rehab
and get back on the field, and we had a
lot of hope because obviously the dominant player he was,
so guys that are rehabbing, you got a lot of
time to talk with him, chit chad, have conversations, and
(07:39):
he was a guy that a lot of people wanted
to talk to because obviously perential pro bowler and you know,
just overall could help you out and how you could
be a pro, you know, a better pro. So I
just remember him having a lot of conversations with young guys,
and I have a lot of respect for guys like that,
because people coming into the league they need a little guidance,
(07:59):
a little help in their for those leaders to do it,
and Tony had time for people.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Man, So he was always a leader.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
What he's doing now doesn't surprise me at all because
he always had a he always had a strong voice
in a leadership role on the team. So it totally
makes sense. And he knows ball that's one thing. He
understands ball. He was coached by Tom Coughlin, who is
a disciplinary.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
And can put a program together.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
You know, he was my head coach when I was
with the Giants, and I had a lot of respect
for him.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Also, Tony visaid, of course, wh's the executive vice president
of football Operations, which honestly, I think is the best
title you can possibly get in the NFL as well.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
All right, j getting them checks, man, you know he's
a smart out.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
You know when you get by your name and oh,
he just checks.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Let's talk about how we we beat Houston in a moment,
Jaybell first, So let's talk about Week two.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
How was the game won and lost against the Bengals.
Speaker 5 (08:55):
Well, when I look at the game, and I just
checked it out again this morning because I wanted fresh
eyes on it. And when you look at the game,
you look at the flow, it tells you a lot.
I mean, you can even throw out the X and o's,
but how do you feel? And I felt like there
was just a ton of miss opportunities. And when you
are a team that is trying to build your identity,
(09:15):
you cannot make those mistakes. And let me back it up,
this week in practice, it's going to be all about
when they put that film up there and they're talking,
it's going to be fellas.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
We can get this right. Let's go back.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
To the basics, because all the mistakes were on them.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
They were things they can correct.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
These are coachable moments and when you show it happened
in a game, now you're going to practice and you're like,
all right, I see where that lack of discipline impacted
this entire game, this entire organization. And you start to
work on those and you start to repeat them over
and over and over, and you don't get bored of
it because you understand they creep up in the games,
(09:55):
and that's what they're doing this week. That's the positive
because when I look at it, they beat themselves, period,
missed opportunities. Now, I do like the fact that that
running game got rolling, and I feel like you need
to lean in on that a little more. Liam carn
I like his play designs, the motions, the shifts. It's
a lot of movement, which is difficult for a defense.
I really respect that. But I remember it was a
(10:16):
third and two and he threw the ball and I thought, man,
I was in the flow of the game. I'm like,
I understand what you're doing, and you're trying to catch
them off guard because they're kind of you know, they
stacked the box.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
They had eight people up there.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
But I'm like, run the rock, you know, run the rock,
run it and then get in those positions where you
got to throw it, and then you can design some
of your best plays to make it happen. I know
I'm talking a lot, but I got a lot on
my mind here, Fellas. The second thing is Brian Thomas Junior, right,
the big drops. Hey, listen to me, Fellas. I'm telling
you this guy can play. So what you gotta do
(10:48):
this week, You're gonna run the ball and then when
you play action pass, you're gonna throw that ball over
the middle. End traffic in a good place, right, But
you need to let him catch the ball over the middle,
get hit, get up, and everybody on that sideline, on
his sideline is going to cheer for him.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
You got to get him involved.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
You got to take all the question marks out of
his toughness and put it in his hands and let
him show up for the team. Because he doesn't care
about the noise outside. It isn't about what the media
is saying. It's about what your locker room is saying.
What are your teammates saying? How are they looking at you?
That impacts us that for sure, Fellas like we want
(11:29):
to be we everything we are, and what our reputation
is built on is how our teammates.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
Look at us.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
So you got to get him the ball, You got
to get him involved and let him redeem himself. And
I think those are some of the things I look
at when I'm moving forward. And the mistakes that were
made on the field, I think right now, if you
just focus on those, I think there's a chance it.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Was on Stamine. Do you reckon in the game?
Speaker 5 (11:58):
I like both the running backs, to be honest. I
like what the running backs are doing, man, moving the chains.
There was a lot of pressure on Etn on who
he was going to be this year. He's got a
lot of popping his game. I mean when he scored
that touchdown.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Man.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
I like the fact that they get them the ball
in the perimeter. I like what they're doing. I like
tooting a young kid and how he runs the ball.
So I really like that. You know, the unsung hero
to me is the offensive line man, offensive line is
holding up.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
I like what they're doing.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
He's an improvement, you know. It seems to be an
improvement since last season in both those the offensive line
and in the running game.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Hey man, we love to see the ball throwing over
the yard.
Speaker 5 (12:33):
Liam Collen man the way he was designing them run
plays at his former team. This is what I'm seeing now.
So I like that. Man, It's the basics. Let's get
to the basics. Let's run the ball. The defense is
getting turnovers. We got to capitalize it. One thing you
have to do. Good quarterbacks are evaluated in two places,
what they do on third down and what they do
in the red area. So that's going to be an emphasis, right, Hey,
(12:55):
you gotta throw the ball third down, Trevor. You got
to pick up a first boom. Make that happen the
red area. You can't make mistakes. We see, we got
to overcome that. You clean that up this week. You
can have success. But if you run the ball, take
you take a lot of that pressure off of him.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
And I think that's what they're going to emphasize this week.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
What was the key moment that we might have missed.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
There's a lot on Travis Hunter's plate. You know, they're
trying to do a lot with him, and I know
he got the PI. But for me, it was that
third down when they caught the out route in the
flat and it was a basic combination where you have
a flat slant and the flat is open, and as
a defender, I know on third and short or fourth
(13:41):
and short with a right handed quarterback, that's the route.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
You just know it.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
And the fact that it wasn't covered lets me know, Man,
that was a big play in the game to me,
and it lets me know, Man, is there too much
on his plate? This is something he can work on.
This is something that can correct. This is a communication
type of error. There's obvious things that happened all over
the field, but I'm looking for something that people might
not have talked about. And when I was looking at
it on tape, I'm thinking, that is a big play
(14:08):
they could have got off the field and it was
purely a communication era.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Let's look forward then to this coming weekend. What needs
to improve to the Jacks get to two and one.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
We talked about the thing they need to do on offense,
but man, those boys coming off the edge Walker and
hinz Allen go to work on CJ.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
Stroud.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
If you pressure him and you get around him and
he's and he feels claustrophobic, that's how you have success
against him. And those guys can shine man. They could
take over a game. Let's be honest. That's what we're
going to have to see. That's on both sides of
the ball. Both the defensive ends are going to try
to tee off on the quarterback. Our offensive line has improved.
(14:50):
It's better than what I see in Houston. Our advantage
is the defensive line, the defensive ends going to work
and really trying to make CJ. Stroud's life miss. I
think if we do that, we can pull off a win.
I can't leave him saying we I can't look at
what's happened to me.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Well, how do you beat the Texans?
Speaker 2 (15:09):
I suppose taking into consideration the first couple games of
the season as well for the Texans.
Speaker 5 (15:13):
Yeah, you got you gotta get off the quarterback period
and then you got it. Look, you know Nico Collins
is gonna get off. They're going to try to force
the ball, So on passing downs, you got to get
strategic with how you take him away. It's got to
be different looks. You know, it's just not as simple
as doubling him. It's how you double him. You got
to change the way it looks. The quarterback thinks you're
doubling one way, then you change it to another. So
(15:33):
it's all about those disguises which they can do, and
I'll be interested to see how they do that. But
I think if you do those two things, you will
make a frustrating afternoon for CJ.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
Stroud.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
It sounds weird asking this question actually before Week three
is even happening. Jack's lost twice to the Texans last
season twenty three to twenty, twenty four to twenty as
well close games.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Well, it sounds weird coming out of my mouth. Now,
must win is this game?
Speaker 4 (16:03):
You know?
Speaker 5 (16:03):
When I look at this game, yeah, I hear you,
I hear must win. But I almost think about it
like redemption for players in situations.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
I need improvement.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
I need, Like I said before, some guys got to
show their tough physically, some guys got to show their
tough mentally.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
I need to see resilience. I need to see it
doesn't matter what happens.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
We gather together in our locker room on our practice
field and we go out and we do not make
the same mistakes twice. If you do that, you can win.
But I'm looking for that improvement more than anything else.
I'm not worried about the score, so I'm not thinking
must win. I'm thinking every play one after the other,
stacking wins on downs. And that is the key, because
(16:46):
when I looked at last game, that's all I saw
was those those marginal mistakes that happen that can be corrected.
And that's why I feel so positive about what they
were on the field and who they are. These are
things that you can totally correct and I feel like
if that's the only thing they're worried about, you know,
the best players and coaches I've been around.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
Said, go back to the basics. Don't overthink it.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
You know you're having issues covering, get low in your
back pedal, are your eyes disciplined?
Speaker 4 (17:18):
Just simple things, And.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
That's what they're gonna do and I expect them to
rebound and get a victory because of that.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
Going in.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
This is Liam Cohen, right, this is his squad. How
do you approach this week? If you do that, you
can have success. I'm really amped up for this game
because I love when people got to overcome things and
correct small things and then go out there and have success,
especially when they're trying to prove to their organization that
they got it all right.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Well, look, let's go into the predictions. Speaking to speaking
of getting back to basics, I think we should say
that's a Key every single week when it gets his
predictions as well. Last week we all went for a
close game. Jason was the only one who found it
in his hunt to cool it for Cincinnati. So well
done to you, Jenny.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
It was it was. It was.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
It was a complete accident, and I changed my mind
as soon as a burrow got hurt.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
But you know you got the point in the end,
didn't you.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
So you feel good? I mean it's not like I
feel great about it.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
You gotta rather not get the point.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Yeah, my whole purpose was to lose and feel good
about it. It was like a double man.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
It's one each for me and Jason, the two big
NFL pundits on this podcast, zero for Key.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
It's aggressive. This is what everybody's on.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
Everybody's on, everyone's amped up, everyone's amped up.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
The winner of this I don't even know if Jason
knows it's the winner of this gets a Trevor Lawrence bubblehead.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
So there we go.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
That's going right here, right over my shoulder.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
There is a space behind you, actually, isn't it just
in that little corner.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
I rolled with him.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Okay, So let's get on the predictions for this game
against the Houston Texans. Key, let's get the ridiculous one
over and done with.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
It's not ridiculous. I'm gonna go Jags win twenty one
to three. BTJ bounced by one hundred and fifty yard game,
including one fifty yard bomb.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Twenty one three.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
This guy does it. This guy's thrown out all. He
just doesn't care.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
I like it, Jay, But like you said last week,
one week, I'm gonna be right and I'm gonna look
like a genius.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
That is a fact.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
That's what I'll use up my showrail.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
That is a fact.
Speaker 5 (19:25):
No one knows about all the other losses. It doesn't matter,
j Bell.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Let's go. Surely you've got a more reasonable prediction.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
I mean, I'm going I'm going twenty four, twenty one.
I'm going Jacksonville. This is gonna be interesting because somebody
who has to really step up from last week is
going to make a play and I can't wait to
see the sideline explode because of it, and I'm expecting
something like that to happen.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
Trevor stand up, have a big game, man.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
I love his poise, love how he's always even killed
and very chill. That's important to me as your quarterback,
especially when you heir coaches fiery. I expect some big
plays out there, and they need to get this win.
It's going to be a fight, though. Man, this is
not going to be easy. These teams go at it,
and this is where you're tested, and this is where
you build resilience.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
And I'm going to go with twenty eight twenty victory
to the Jags.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
I also having watched the Texans loss against the Bucks
as well, Jags defense has been on it when it
comes to interceptions over the first two games of the season,
and I think there's I think that there's possibly something
to be had here for another couple So I reckon
twenty eight twenty victory for the Jags.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
See that's true. Yeah, it goes.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
They've been on it, but I always get worried about that. Man.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
You know, they come in bunches and then sometimes it's
a dry spell.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
So but yeah, no, I know what you meant to say.
You know, like I like it.
Speaker 6 (20:59):
I like it.
Speaker 5 (20:59):
I like, hey, they're opportunistic. I like the way the
defense is playing. When your linebackers are coming up with
plays like that over the middle of the field, that
really causes a lot of strength for your quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
So I agree, j.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Bell, thanks so much for joining till Talk. We'll see
you next week.
Speaker 5 (21:14):
Back on it with a victory next week, Man, we
coming back with a win.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Hype man.
Speaker 2 (21:20):

Speaker 3 (22:43):
I stopped listening to you halfway through because I was
just too excited about all the stuff that you're talking about.
But yeah, I mean International Fan of the is an
also one, and the experience that people get from winning
that is unbelievable. Well worth doing.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
And make sure as well that you head over to
Jaguar's UK a YouTube for a conversation between our very
own Reese Parkinson and head coached Liam Cohen out in Jacksonville, and.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
We're welcome for he look into till talk. How's it
going man, Nice to see her.
Speaker 6 (23:14):
Go on, Well, just came off the practice field. Nice
seeing you guys as well.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Well, look, let's go straight into it. Two games down,
one and one. How's the atmosphere in the facility? You know,
head of the Texans game, it's good.
Speaker 6 (23:26):
Obviously we let one slip last weeks. We're trying to
get that one back. Everybody's pretty motivated. I had a
good day of practice today to get back in the
win Colin. But it's been encouraging how we started off
the year. But we want to build on it and
have a good rest.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
Of the year.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
You know, one thing that has changed obviously over the
last few months, different coaching stuff. You know, I think
I've spoken to you since then, but I want to
know a bit about Anthony Campanella. You know, new DC
two games in. What can you tell us about him
and how he wants you to play.
Speaker 6 (23:54):
He's very passionate definitely has a physicality mindset and there
always let's just you know, put with a lot of
energy running to the ball and talks about turnovers. So, uh,
you know, we have a lot of little rules around
the room that we talk about every day, but a
lot of this is based off of communication and then
physicality and then everybody get into the ball. So it's
(24:14):
really a lot of trust that goes into it. Everybody's
talking to each other, which kind of builds a good
camaraderie on the defense. So it feels like a very
good energy that we have going so far. We want
to keep building on it and keep improving through the year.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Yeah, how does that camaraderie then translate to the field,
because you know, as you say, encouraging start to season,
despite you know that that loss, good start for the defense,
particularly in the first game as well, you know, multiple interceptions.
Speaker 6 (24:37):
Everybody wants to see everybody succeed. So it's like, I'm
just ready to do my job and then I know
my brother is going to do his job off of that,
and then we're going to get the ball, so then
we're all gonna be really happy. So you know, you
see a little bit of success, you obviously want to
double down on it, and then everybody's going to eat
if we all play well. So just being close, you
see my brother make a pick, I'd be hype for him.
Then he's gonna be hype for me when I make
(24:58):
a play.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
We was talking to Jason Bell a little bit earlier on.
He played for the Texans when the franchise started. He
spoke about his take on the rivalry between the two teams.
Can you talk about how the rivalry feels to you
and maybe you know it's impact on this game in particular,
there's a team that.
Speaker 6 (25:14):
You don't want to have beat you, and you know,
I feel like, for some reason, we played each other
better away in the past couple of years. We're trying
to write that ship here and win this game at
home and get our season rolled off the right way.
You know, They've bring that physicality and that little bit
of energy with it that comes along with that rivalry,
but we've got to be ready to com back that.
(25:34):
I just want to win. To be honest with you
don't really care who's in front of me. So it
happened to be the Texans this week. But it's important
to make sure we come out with the right energy
and get this w.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Obviously in the same division, Texans won against the Jags
twice last season. I mean, you might not look at
it this way, but just tell me how important you
think victory is this early in the season against the
Texans against.
Speaker 6 (25:55):
The Texans because it's a divisional game, so you know,
you put another team in the division back while you
go forwards. They say it's worth two. I just say,
stay ahead in the record column, and then you know
you're not struggling and scratching at the end of the year.
I think you just keep this momentum going all the
way through the year. You know, teach yourself how to
play winning football early and then sustain that all the
way through the year. You're doing a lot more sustaining
(26:16):
rather than trying to make something that creates something new
by the end of the year, trying to find wins
and stuff. So I just think getting this win improving
our confidence on what we have in the building, what
we're doing in the building going into the week after that.
But let's just focus on, like you said, Houston this week,
the visional game this week, take care of what we're
supposed to take care of and then see you see
what happens after.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Can you see a difference in confidence this season?
Speaker 6 (26:39):
I mean we were yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Things are
encouraging this year. Obviously let that game slip, but things
are encouraging. We see what good can happen when we're
doing things the right way. So it's really trusting both
of our schemes and our players and what we're supposed
to do. But it's been encouraging so far.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
I want to talk about your line of T shirts.
You actually got one on at the moment. Can you
describe it to me and describe what it's all about.
Speaker 6 (27:00):
Yeah, there's a long story behind it, but it's kind
of an underdog story a little bit. It's called Team
Ugly Gang flip around that Ugly thing, and it stands
for an acronym you gotta love yourself because a lot
of the people won't give you the love you deserve.
So at the end of the day, who better love
you than you? You know what I'm saying. It kind
of gives you a little bit of self confidence going
about it. You know, no matter what people say about you,
as long as you love yourself and be true to you,
(27:20):
people are gonna rock with it. The people who are
gonna rock with you rock with it. So just be
me all the time. That's all I can do and
then see the benefits after.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
You know what inspired you to create that?
Speaker 6 (27:30):
Then long story, like I was saying, but it started
in college me and my friends a little bit. A
lot of people go through things where they kind of
question themselves and stuff. But somebody came up to me
and said, you're always yourself. So I said, yeah, Like,
no matter what people call me and call me, you know, uglier,
they can call me the best looking do in the room,
I'm gonna just you know, come dressed like how I
want to dress, and I'm gonna just be me all
the time. So if you want to like it, you
(27:52):
can like it. If not, you're gonna see it at
the end of the day. I love what I do.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
I mean, that's amazing. That's amazing the way you put that. Man, Look,
you know that long you're back in the UK. You
actually you know you were here not that long ago, relatively.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
You love it.
Speaker 6 (28:06):
You all the time.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
If they let me, You're always welcome.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Man, How excited are you to to come back to London?
I swear it's only been a couple of weeks since
you were here, But how excited I used to come back.
Speaker 6 (28:16):
I'm so excited, you know. It's kind of you know,
I've been coming for a long time now. It feels
like part of the routine in the NFL now every season.
But I like the trip, seeing a new perspective, and
I always find something new over there every time I come. Obviously,
when the game's coming up, your focuses on the game
and stuff, but I just like seeing new people and
(28:37):
seeing new experiences and kind of broadening or expanding my
horizons on how people live life in different places. But
you know, humans are humans. But it's cool to see
new things for sure.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Okay, Well, on that note, I was hoping that you
could take part in our very first UK and Ireland
based quiz testing your knowledge on a few things UK
and Ireland based.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
You're down for this.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
I mean you're going to be mad if I getting
one of them.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
Right, promise no laughing on the outside, No laughing anyway.
Let's go first one. What's the capital of the UK
UK United? The capital city London?
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Well done? What city is the first ever NFL game
in Ireland? Being played in Dublin. So you're all good
so far. Tell me what is Big Ben?
Speaker 6 (29:26):
The big clock?
Speaker 2 (29:30):
You're right both ways. Okay, this one, this one might
be a tough one. And if I ask this question
to other you know, people from the Jaguars. This one
I'm not sure if anyone can get and I'll be
you know, credit to you. If you can name one
English soap opera.
Speaker 6 (29:45):
The English ones I don't know the names of. Yeah,
I love actually though.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
It's a wrong com I'm not that you don't get
that one. Two more questions. Name one former or current
British or Irish NFL.
Speaker 6 (29:58):
Player Ardy and Dirty the coordinator.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Now he is a coordinator. Well done, that's a really
good answer.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Lastly, last time we spoke, we spoke about your love
for soccer.
Speaker 6 (30:14):
It is, however, anymore, keep going.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
You got your one more question left. Give me three
soccer teams that have won the Premier League Arsenal and
Arsenal's one, Chelsea, Chelsea's two, Man.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
City, Man City.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Well there we go, five out of six. You're essentially
British now for you're welcome over. You can go, come
get your passport. You're pretty much.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
Over.
Speaker 6 (30:48):
Make sure I get that from home. There. That's it.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
That's it, and look not too long until you here
and we get to see you again. Maybe I'll create
another quiz for you next time.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
I'll probably pass it if you studied.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Boy, Thanks so much for coming on, and good luck
this weekend against the Texans as well.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
Appreciate that UK.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
Jags Van Dylan James joins us on the podcast. Now,
Dylan went with five thousand other Brits fans to Florida
in week one for the Panthers game. And Dylan, we're
going to hear all about how you've become Logan Cook's
best friend all of a sudden, But first of all,
please tell us how did you become a Jags one.
Speaker 7 (31:28):
I've been into the NFL for since two and seven
when I watched the Courts play the Bears, so I've
been a fan since then, but I didn't really follow
a team until about eighteen. And just seeing the heart
and the fun and just the camarade between the Jags
(31:54):
at that time, when you had Klais Campbell, and you
had Blake Bottles and Jack and Westbrook and you can
just add all these names, I fell in love with
the team. Honestly fell in love with the team, and
since then it's just grown and grown and grown a
bit of addiction.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
Now, was he watching them on Telly or did you
go to any of the games?
Speaker 7 (32:15):
No, No, I hadn't seen any NFL games a live
prior to that. I've been watching on Turlly for good
ten years. I was quite ill twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen
around there, laid up in bed all the time and
up until earlier hours. And yeah, just watching the NFL,
not nothing else on Elli at the time, and yeah,
(32:37):
just just fell in love for the Jags.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Talk to us about the trip then, because to my knowledge,
you went alone, but you like managed to meet up
with a load of other fans when you're out there
in Jacksonville.
Speaker 7 (32:49):
There was about eight to nine of us that went individually.
I flew into Orlando and then drove up to Jacksonville,
and I met up with the likes of Jamie Phillips,
the International fan of the Year.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
We know Jamie, he's a good guy.
Speaker 7 (33:05):
He's a good guy, and yeah, quite a few other friends.
We all met up in Jacksonville and we tried all
the local places and went to Jacksonville Beach, to experience that.
Talking to JAG's UK, they sorted out a tour of
the stadium, which I didn't expect. We were really lucky
(33:26):
to get that because obviously it's closed off for refurbishment
to make the Stagium of the future. So yeah, I
felt incredibly lucky for that. Yeah, I got to experience
Jacksonville for the first time. I've never never been there.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
You ran into some people, didn't you.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
I mean, what your best bits, because all I've all
I've heard is that you were in a sharping mall
and you bumped into somebody that we might be aware of.
Speaker 6 (33:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (33:51):
Yeah, we went to Palm Beach Autographs just to see
what they had there for the for the Jags and
anything that was signed, and yeah, we bumped into Jimmy
Smith who was doing a signing. So yeah, we we
we had some photos with him, and yeah, we were lucky,
lucky to see him.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
Really.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
Yeah, the Jags all time leading receiver. I think, Yeah,
that's kind of it was kind of amazing. So to
be clear, was he signing stuff or was he just
just chilling it's just shopping. Well, that's what I was thinking,
was his name on That's what.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
I was thinking.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
I was like, did you were you just like, was
he just you know, going to gonna, you know, buy
some clothes or whatever? And you were, excuse me, you
weren't know.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
But he was there for a reason, didn't you He was.
Speaker 7 (34:38):
He was there for a reason.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
He was.
Speaker 7 (34:40):
He was there doing a private signing for the shop.
But we we all called him over. You've got to
take you.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Were you all decked in tail at the time, were
you all?
Speaker 4 (34:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (34:51):
Most of us, Yeah, we were. We were rolling in
jags gear.
Speaker 6 (34:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (34:55):
We had a photo with him. Then he popped off
into the mall to get a sandwich.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
That's funny, That's funny. I just got to go. I'm
so sorry. I need need to get my cheese and
ham sandwich. I've got to go.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
Now talk to us about the game, because as far
as I know that you, I don't know the whole
story here.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
All I know is it involves Logan Cook.
Speaker 7 (35:18):
I've become friends with Logan since about twenty twenty two,
met him in practice with Jamie and Francis and a
few other friends. Are quite big fans, and we all
wanted a picture with Logan and he was just shocked
and surprised that people knew his name and wanted a
(35:39):
picture with him, and we became friends on Instagram and
ever since, every year in practice, i've met up with
him and I said, right down, coming over Jacksonville, and
he said, right, and I'll meet you before the game.
So I went to meet him in the stadium just
(35:59):
before the game and yeah, he said, I've got a
surprise for you, and he gave me the game he
was kicking ball from the Jags versus pat Fits in
London last year. Wo and he signed it and yeah,
I just couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
That's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
I was.
Speaker 7 (36:21):
I was in shock because I didn't expect him to
give me anything. I gave him something because my thirteen
year old son had drawn a picture of Logan Cook
to give to him, So I gave him that and
he he was just he loved that, passed it on
to his children. Yeah, he said, I've got something for you.
(36:42):
Not know what I expected from one of the greatest
planters we've had.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
That was so lovely, Dylan. So, but this is audio only,
so people can't see what you've got behind you. But
I can see a Jags filled shelf of memorabilia with a.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
Ball on it.
Speaker 7 (36:57):
Is that the ball?
Speaker 3 (36:58):
That is the ball?
Speaker 1 (36:59):
Yeah, actually, let's go and go on talk us through
it then.
Speaker 7 (37:03):
So it's got the and twenty twenty four London badge
on it and you can see that it's it says
it's kicking ball and from week seven and then he
has signed it Logan Cook God bless.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
An absolute pride of place on the shelf as well.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
That's so coold.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Yes, and talk to us about the stadium tour a
little bit and what were some of the highlights of that.
Speaker 7 (37:32):
We got to walk through the rubber walkway where the
players walk through. We got to see some of the
suites they.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Call them candy over there.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
Obviously, yeah, cut that joke was so bad he's being
cut out of the podcast.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
That was that is dreadful. Carry on, Dylan.
Speaker 7 (37:51):
We passed Sad Suite. We weren't allowed to go in
there and fortunately but yeah, we walked around the other
suites and we got to the top of the stage
and had some lovely photographs from the from the top.
Just amazing to see the police.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
In the flesh basically, well, I mean that's amazing. It
sounds like you had an incredible trip mate.
Speaker 7 (38:12):
The hospitality of them as well. It's just amazing that
JAG's UK and Jack as an organization in America, the
hospitality just across the board just being incredible.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
It sounds like there were some things that you planned
that were amazing, but the best bits were the things
that you just did not know were going to happen
when you were out there.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
So it sounds incredible.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
I mean, look, let's go forward to to this next game,
Week three against the Texans. Give us you know a
couple of sentences on what you think the Jags need
to do to get that victory.
Speaker 7 (38:45):
The main thing is not the force place first game
obviously it's to see Travis Hunter, but trying to force
the passes to him, and the last game, even though
he was injured, forcing the passes to Brian Thomas Junior.
Just just go with what the flower and what you've got.
(39:09):
We've got so many weapons on offense, and it's it's
working on defense. We are going with the flower and
we as in all different key players from Aluakan t
wing Ad to Devin Lloyd. We are in our defense
to us Max like we haven't seen for a few years.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
Yeah, a lot of players are touching the ball more
than previous seasons.
Speaker 7 (39:31):
Yeah yeah, And these interceptions from from the last game
were fantastic. They stepped up massively, and it's just the offense.
Just take it easy, don't force things. Discipline has got
to be on top of the list as well.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
I think we we send that to Jacksonville and they
can play it in the players.
Speaker 7 (39:57):
With subtitles.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Don't put yourself down. Dylan, thanks so much for joining
till Talk today.
Speaker 7 (40:04):
Oh, thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
What a lovely man, what a great story. Loved hearing
about all the stadium tour with the work going on,
the construction work. Sounded like he was still in Jacksonville.
I think he was literally on the middle of the field.
I think he was literally just talking to us in
the middle of it by men with pneumatic drill.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Unbelievable though incredibly jealous specifically of having you know that
that signed ball as well. I have a mini Jacksonville Jaguars.
I think I don't know if you can see it
hit behind me key mini Jacksonville Jaguars ball there signed
is not signed sign.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
Because I'm saying it's nowhere near as good. That's what
I'm saying. I'm saying is way worse.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
And I think that's incredible that you managed to get
that look big weekend ahead and actually this could be
really big in terms of the AFC South can near
Houston Texans, the next opponent for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacks
could go two and one, which would leave the Texans
zero and three excited for this. Key, are you going
(41:11):
to be with your big dog watching?
Speaker 3 (41:13):
Actually you know what, ja, No, I won't it or
be a margate spectacular.
Speaker 1 (41:17):
That sounds like a great festival.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
Yes, So I will be in new circumstances this weekend
for a one off no big dog all right.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
Key, I'll see you in a few days time, won't
I Hopefully we'll be talking about the Jacks at two
and one. This has been till Talk in association with Gallagher,
a Shooting Shark production for Jacksonville Jaguars UK and Ireland.
And don't forget to just search Jaguars UK on YouTube
to get to our official channels see.
Speaker 1 (41:45):
In a few days.
Speaker 8 (42:00):
Specissish specials Specially special
