It's Group Therapy Thursday time!

Dear Ted and Amy,My wife and I are parents of three young kids so we’ve attended a lot of kid's birthday parties this summer. Most of the parents now choose to have it someplace other than their house. So usually one of us takes the child who is invited, and the other stays with our other children. It’s been bizarre to me, however, how many parents bring ALL of the kids to the party even though just one of them is invited. It usually costs money for each of the kids to come and those throwing the party have to give a rough estimate on the number expected. But I’ve seen all summer how, if their six year old is invited, the parents also show up with their eight and ten year old to take part in the festivities. Is this an accepted thing or is it as rude as my wife and I feel it is?
Signed,
Bring them all in Baldwinsville?
