You know what it is?
Speaker 3 (00:23):
A football Friday Monday headlines today.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
This is a big one.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
It's always big when the Cowboys are in town Dallas.
As much as you may hate them, they've always been
able to lay claim to that America's team thing, regardless
of whether or not you buy that they're immensely popular.
Beating the Cowboys is always a big deal, something the Panthers,
by the way, have a deep history of doing over
the years. Even if it hasn't been the case in
the last couple there've been some big wins over the
(00:46):
Cowboys throughout the course of this program or franchise's history.
And it feels like Sunday is another opportunity to beat
the Cowboys. But more importantly, maybe convince some people that
you know what you're doing over there at Men Street
and ab convinced some people that this football team's getting better.
Maybe you know, Dave and Bryce get get going quicker
in this game. Maybe the defense canna have a good
(01:08):
day against one of the best offenses in the NFL.
You know, in jecks belief in this fan base. You
are two and oh at home after all, So going
three and oh and beating the Cowboys to do it,
I mean it would have to at least begin to
open the minds of some of your most ardent critics
and disbelievers. Right right, Well, we'll talk about it. Seven
oh four, five, seven oh ninety six ten. Hit us
up on the FanDuel text line same number if you
(01:29):
want to give us a call and chat the old
fashioned way on x formerly Twitter at Kyle Bailey Club.
It's at Kyle Bailey Club, emanating live from the Chandler
Volta Studios. The Carolinas personal injury lawyers go to Cvinjurylaw
dot com. That's Cvinjurylaw dot com. Chip Patterson's back in
thirty I take that back forty one minutes. We'll talk
a lot of college football with him. We've got Marty Snyder,
(01:52):
NBC Sports Turner, Amazon back at four twenty five to
talk a little NASCAR playoff racing, and at five o'clock
Nate Wemberley back in studio. Adam Amin sends his regards
to the people of Charlotte. He had hoped to join
us today. We talked about it back on Tuesday, but
the Major League Baseball Playoffs evolved in such a way
that Adam Amin, who will call the game on Fox
Sunday with Greg Olsen, is now set to call the
(02:15):
biggest baseball game of his career today in the playoffs,
as we've got Tarik Scooble going for the artic Scooble
pardon me, going for the Detroit Tigers against the Mariners
in a pivotal and decisive Game five. So Adam Amen
had hoped to join us today, but between preparation for
Panthers Cowboys on Sunday and calling the biggest baseball game
of his life today, he's going to have to bounce.
(02:37):
But we'll get him next time because Adam's a great
guy and we've had him on the show many times
in the past. But we will have him on and
we hope you keep us on ninety two to seven
wfn Z. Now, smoke, good afternoon. Have you come prepared
with a Monday headline today? Do you need to sit
on things for a little while longer? I don't even
know where your belief level is and the Panthers in
this game. Yet, let's break it all down. What's going on.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Well, you know, I'm probably leaning to this being a
shootout in a lot of ways. I think the over
is gonna hit after I backed off and then got
back on it. But I think my Sunday headlines today
is no Moton big problems.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Yeah, yeah, that's that's where I am. I I saw
that news today as I was coming back from lunch,
and it looks like our big fear is in fact
going to come true. And that is Taylor Moten, who
has been an absolute iron man right guard, right tackle
pardon me, throughout his career, has missed almost next to
no time, has been rock solid and reliable out there
(03:37):
on the right side. Looking like he's probably not going
to play on Sunday. He did not take part in
practice today, did not take part in individual drills. Neither
did Cuba Hubbard, by the way, or Turk Wharton, which
is not great news on either front. But the biggest
concern here, I mean Rico Daddle assuaged some of the
fears about losing Tuba last week and that performance against
(03:59):
the Dolphins. I think you can still run the ball
with Rico Daddle and maybe Trevori t In on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
You'd like to have Chuba.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
You feel better about that now, But going from Taylor
Moton to Yosh Niman on the right side, smoke, that's
that's reason for concern.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
And by the way, officially he's out. Yeah, he's no
hope for him to come out. But yeah, so Taylor
Moton's out, Yosh Nizeman in Yosh struggled mightily against Jacksonville
Jaguars on the left side, yep. But it's not like
he was doing much better on the right side last
year when he had to play for a couple of
games for Taylor Moton. And the real concern is, you know,
(04:33):
we're talking about Rico Daddle's big game last week. Where
was most of that success at on the rights on
the right side. Yeah, yeah, so now you're getting taken
off one of the key members of the right side.
And I know Taylor Mote' is not known as a
run blocker. He's more of a pass blocker, but it
doesn't mean he's bad when it comes to run blocking. Uh,
that's going to be a pretty big concern. And I
don't know exactly if that changes the game plan for
(04:55):
the Cowboys or not. But you know, I look Jijevion Clowney,
I'm not scared of him, but I bet Jadavion wants
the ball out because he got cut by Carolina. And
now on the other end, yacht Ezeraku, who I'm actually
more scared of because I think he's going to be
a very talented dresser for a long time in the NFL.
And you have to deal with that too, And now
(05:16):
you don't have arguably your best offensive lineman.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
It doesn't feel good at all. I mean, Moten's out
for Sunday's game will not play now. On the lea,
you'd still like to believe you can run the ball
off the left side, and they did at times, but
you're right, the right side of that offensive line really
produced and opened up some holes on Sunday against Miami.
This left side is going to have to really be
leaned upon even more now, I think, and you know,
if they're going to run the ball a lot, I
do have some faith in Nonmen's ability to move guys
(05:42):
in front of him. I think the biggest concern is
more about pass protection than anything else. Though he was
not stellar and Week one against Jacksonville, any in any area.
But I think potentially he can, you know, he can,
he can move people in the run game. Now they'll
he'll have to protect. The nice thing is it's not
Bryce's blind side, so maybe that will provide Bryce some
extra you know, a little bit of extra time to
(06:03):
move the pocket, get out of the pocket, make some
place with his legs if need be. I think this
is this is something they can navigate. And the truth is,
for the people that have been highly critical of Bryce Young,
this will only this conversation adds ammo to their arguments
about well, everything's got to be perfect for Bryce. Everything's
got Brian Dak went out there and won with four
backup offensive linemen last week against the Jets, and I
(06:24):
think they're right to an extent, like this is.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
It's not great.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
You don't want to have to play this game without
Taylor Moten, but you know, if this offense is ever
going to truly start to come together, and I think
that they've got a chance to do that after last week.
We played Greg Olsen's comments from yesterday morning on the
Back and Bone Show. He seems pretty confident this offense
can you know, figure some things out and has better
days ahead of them.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
You know, you ought to be able to figure this out.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Smoke like, maybe Joshneimen goes out there and has one
of the better games of his career. I'll emphasize again
he has played well before in the NFL. We saw
it happen in Green Bay when he was filling in
for Baktiari, So he can't do it. I just don't
know what it looks like Sunday against the Cowboys. The
good news is Michael Parsons ain't out there. You know,
this is not a Dallas Cowboy defense that has been
(07:08):
terrorizing anybody. In fact, quite the opposite. So I think
the conditions are such that even if Nayman doesn't have
a tremendous performance on Sunday, you can work around this
if you're Dave Canalis.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
And to be fair to Joshnigeman, he's not going against
Josh Heines Allen.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
That's right, that's right, you know. So that's a big thing.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Not to take anything away for Azerraku and j Davion Clowney,
but they're not the same. So it's just you wish
you had your starting guy that's been the anchor, the
stuffage line for nearly a decade at this point, so
that's a concern. I I still think that Carolina offense
should be productive as long as they don't turn the
(07:45):
ball over, and I think it should be a shootout.
I just I think this could be one of the
things that breaks the strong, breaks the camel's back, because
what happens if you're in a game winning drive and
you have to have Joshnisman pass block and a key
situation and when you're trying to get six points on
the board to potentially tied or take the lead. That's
where I'm nervous because if you were to ask me
(08:05):
right now, Kyle, I think Dallas wins this game thirty
to twenty seven. Yeah, I think it's gonna be a shootout.
Think it's gonna be close. I think it comes down
to Brycehunk trying to get the ball into the endz
on or at least get it into overtime. Yeah, but
then Yoshneizman gives up a big sack at a crucial point,
kind of similar to what happened in that twenty seventeen
Wild Card game between Caroline and the Saints. When you
(08:28):
know everyone likes to crap on Matt Khalil. But what
did the Saints do? They moved Cam Jordan over to
the right side to go against Dara Williams, who for
some reason was an all pro because pff falso because
he had Ed Dixon attached at his hip. You know,
So that means everyone has to overrate Darrel Williams.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Now, that's right.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
And then Darrel Williams got beat like a government mule
by Cam Jordan and Cam Newton had to rush your
throo ball half the time. So that's what I think
is going to happen this Sunday. I think something like that.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
So you're already calling your shot. Top of the Show
thirty twenty seven Cowboys win.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
Yes, okay, comes down to Yoshneinsman getting beat like a
government meal in the final drive.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Wow, it's awfully specific.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
We had ramblin Randy text in a second ago to say, KB,
there's a reason the Packers gave him up very slow
feet pass protecting Panthers will have to score thirty five
plus to win game. Cocks thirty one twenty eight over
LSU and mo He says Missouri has a good shot
at home against Alabama, and then he asks any news
on the Virginia Tech coaching search.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
None.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
On the last part, I think you're right, Missouri has
a shot against Bama at home. You're damn right. List
a Missoo's rushing attack. They're going to run the football.
I know Bama. Bama's got talent up front. They'll probably
slow it down a little bit relative to some of
the other opponents that Missouri's faced a little bit, But
I do think Missouri's going to be able to run
the football.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
And here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
If Bama doesn't come out ready to play up front defensively,
they will lose that game because of the style Missouri plays.
They will limit possessions, they'll beat him to death, they'll
win the physicality battle at the line of scrimmage, and
they will demoralize like that's the way this team is
set up to be. And if they Bama's to first
of all stop the run just in general, especially on
first down and early in the game. Bama's got to
(10:05):
stop the run and score early because they cannot fall
behind the Missouri and let that Missouri running attack lean
on him.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
If they do, Missouri wins the game.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
That in Alabama's not used to playing at noon on
the road, so that's going to be another factor too. Well,
technically eleven o'clock because it's in Missoo, so they're not
used to that for a conference game. This is the
biggest Missoo game arguably since they've moved to the SEC.
And this arguably might be the biggest Missoo game since
the Chased annual years, which is saying of it because
they've had some really good squads that have won the
(10:33):
cotton Ball multiple years.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
And say what you will about Eli drink Woods. He
is a nerd, but he's a hell of a coach too.
It's just a nerdy name too, Eli drink Wentz.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Well that in the way he talks dressing up like
Star Wars characters taking shot.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Now, the country is now. When he opens his mouth,
all you hear is country.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
But you know that his name is very nerdy and
they probably would be offended by that. A dada was
a big fan of Star Trek to Next Generation, I
can tell, yeah, Eli drink Wentz, But dude, he's put
together just an incredibly imposing and physical football team, and
you know, it's hard not to be impressed with what
they're doing. Right now US seven oh four five seven
ninety six ten. What were the other questions he asked, Oh,
he said game Cox thirty one twenty eight over LSU.
(11:11):
Definitely possible. There's nothing crazy about that prediction. Now you're
you're in Baton Rouge. It's a tough place to play
night at night. I mean, like I've talked about before,
and at night in Baton Rouge is a different animal.
If you've never been, it's just again the air smells
like gators and bourbon, you know, and just it's not
a welcoming it's a welcoming environment, but one that also
(11:33):
scares the daylights out of you, and you know you're
either ready for it or you're not. And South Carolina's
been there before, Shane's been there before, so I don't
think they're going to be overwhelmed by the environment. I
do think it's going to take Lenora's Seller's going off
to win the game, Like he is going to have
to have one of those individual performances that we remember
and talk about for a long time, the Lenora's Seller's
Game at LSU or something akin to that. It is
(11:54):
probably going to have to take place for them to
win this game. But I absolutely think they can because
Brian Kelly is obviously historically prone to losing some big games,
and this team is not exactly firing on all cylinders
right now, so they're good. The defense has improved, the
offense has been spotty. Nuss Meyer has been up and down.
Although we've been hurt, he's been hurt as another part
(12:15):
of it too. So yeah, I think your game cock
prediction is not crazy, But I still think LSU gets
to win.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
I was gonna say, outside of jayde Daniels, Brian Kelly
loves nothing more than throwing his talented quarterbacks under the bus.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
He's done the same thing than nus Meyer too, Yeah,
because he's an idiot. Sorry, he did the same thing
that Deshaun Kaiser when he was keeping him in games
in twenty sixteen, all right, okay, and didn't realize how
good he was. If DeShawn Kayser would have stayed for
another year in twenty seventeen, Notre Dame had legit national
championship hopes, but instead I had to deal with watching
Brandon Winbush barely passed the ball anyway. But yeah, I
(12:49):
honestly think even though LSU's coming off of bye the
last two games of Lenora sellers. I think he can
go down there and win that game. Yeah, I think
he can down there win that game. Oh, I think
he could play well enough.
Speaker 6 (13:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
You know, we talk about South Carolina struggles running to football.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
LSU struggles running to football too, they do.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
I guess I would counter with we saw the Norris
play great and still lose to Missouri, so him playing
great alone is not going to necessarily win them that game.
But that's the bare minimum. The pre wreck there is
that he plays a great game. Missoo's better than LSU. Okay,
it's true, it may be true. I can't go with
you that it is true yet, but it may be.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Well, tell us who's biggest win? All right, fair enough? Clemson?
How's that look?
Speaker 3 (13:33):
It's not looking great now, I'm with you, fair enough,
Clemson's the best win? Seven oh four five, seven ninety
six ten. Hit us up on the fan duel text line.
A lot of college football text starting to trickle in
now too, but plenty of Panthers text as well. We
have Uh, let's see Bubba Bourbons saying the Panthers might win.
But my mama always says mites grow on a chickens, ask,
run the damn ball and go Panthers.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Okay, that's it. I like it.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
It's might yeah. It's a play on words m I
t E as opposed to m I g h T.
It's a oh okay, right, you get it? Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay,
So mites grow on a chickens butt, run the ball,
and go Panthers. They will have to run the football
they need. First of all, this is one where the
early turnovers absolutely cannot take place. Bryce cannot turn the foot,
(14:17):
and it's just it seems so absurd to even have
to shout this into a microphone that the quarterback can't
fumble the ball anymore, but he can't do it like
there can. There cannot be any early turnovers because you're
already asking this group, which is an unproven group entirely,
to go win a track meet potentially against a very
lopsided team. Dallas is not balanced, as we've talked about,
(14:37):
but their offense they can win a lot of shootouts.
So to ask the Panthers to go win a track
meet with Dallas is already a big ask for an
unproven team. You get yourself in an early hole. There's
probably no coming out of that early hole unless your
defense is up to the task. And listen, no Ceede
Lamb on Sunday, you know, not to make it seem
like the Cowboys offense is unstoppable, because I don't want
(14:58):
to get into it. To tear a to where we
started talking about Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. Is
but I don't know, man, this this Falcons team looks
for real and this, that and the other, and then
it turned out the way that it did. The Cowboys
can be beaten. They will not have Ceedee Lamb. They
will still be down some offensive linemen. I expect Derek
Brown first of all, has to have a big game
and in order for them to get to the quarterback,
(15:20):
he and Ashawn Robinson in the middle need to have
a really big day. And if they do, and the
secondary can cover, and these guys are going to be healthier.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Again this week.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
I think they can, like I think they can slow
down the Cowboys offense to a degree. But you know,
as we break down individual matchups and sides of the ball,
it still just comes down to complimentary football. And people
get annoyed by that phrase. But we've all seen the
pitfalls of not playing complimentary football around here very often
the last couple of years. I mean, the Arizona game
was a prime example. Jacksonville was a prime example. New
(15:50):
England was a prime example. Special teams that particular day,
Like we can break down the offensive, a defensive matchups
and who can outscore who. But like, if you don't
go out there and play three phases at least well
on Sunday, you gotta get beat. And that's the thing
where I think some people kind of jumped the gun saying, hey,
Rico Dallas should be the starter over Chuba Hubbard. It's like, oh, yeah,
it's great because Rico easily had the best performance running
(16:12):
backs had this year.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
But you go look at the games.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Even in the win, I mean, Cuba was being efficient
running to football. It's just he didn't get that many carries. Yeah,
because they were down quickly, especially in the Arizona game.
You look at the amount of carries and amount of
yards and average yards per carry.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
It was good.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
It's just he didn't get the ball enough. Seven four
seven ninety six to ten. Phone lines open. We'll take
your calls when we come back. Monday Headlines Today Panthers
Cowboys Sunday. Would love your headlines on the text line,
would love your thoughts on the phone lines, and of
course we'll take your college football thoughts as well. Chip
Patterson talking college football in twenty five minutes Sports Radio
ninety two to seven wfn Z. The Cowboys coming to
(17:02):
town on Sunday, Panthers with an opportunity to get to
three and three? Do you believe or are you among
those who think that Carolina will repeat what happened after
the Falcons win? And that's a letdown, of course, as
we saw against New England, but maybe not as bad.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Smokes picked the Cowboys to win the game thirty to
twenty seven already to start the show. I am a
little surprised you called your shot that early. I'm going
to withhold my final selection until Sunday countdown to kickoff
at twelve fifty two pm. If you want to set
your alarm, Sunday twelve fifty two pm countdown to kickoff,
the only Panthers pregame coverage you'll ever need, right here
on wfn Z.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Well, I'm sorry, I don't have the luxury of being
on the countdown to kickoff show like you do inside
to Jack Daniel's dogout.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
Okay, well, look at you, a nice sponsor plug. You
don't need to get bitter about it. I was just
I would have thought maybe you would have waited until
later in the show to give you your final prediction.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
That's all.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
I've kind of had this fault process for about a
week now too, So you know, I like being early
to the party a little bit. You know, I'm like
Gretchen Wilson, I'm here for the party.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
But you know, I just I have to see it
to believe it.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
With Caroline, in some of these games, I felt I
felt like they should beat Miami, I you know, but
I can't go out there and stick my neck out
for a team that's been inconsistent, because remember I said
they were going to beat the Patriots and look that
I ended up. Sure, so I need to see them
take that next step because this is easily going to
be the best quarterback they played all year. Oh, I agree, So,
I mean Drake May's second, but like Drake May, didn't
(18:25):
have to do much in that game. Dak Prescott has
been playing at a near MVP level to start this year,
and while I think Carolina can do enough.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
I just I got to see it to believe it.
You know, I get it all right real quick. The
Game six status report injury report from earlier today. Jalen
Cocher questionable for Sunday's game. Caleb Evans is out to
be a Hubbard is out, Mike jack Mike Jackson, cornerback
with rib injury, is also listed as questionable.
Speaker 6 (18:51):
J T.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Sanders listed as questionable, as is Shaw Smith Wade, and
then bad news Turk Wharton out again for a second
straight game after a brief return a couple of weeks ago.
And Taylor Moten the big one that will not play
on Sunday now Chewba Hubbard's also a big absence. But
we did see the uh we did see them run
(19:12):
the football with Rico Dwell on Sunday. You'd like to
think that they can do it again, but losing Taylor
Moton on the right side hurts. I think that they
should be able to work around it for a week.
Yosh Niman is not an ideal you know, He's not
the ideal player to have in that situation. And if
they weren't banged up as much as they are right now,
maybe it would be Brady Christiansen, you know, playing that
spot on Sunday. But instead, you know, this is where
(19:35):
they got to go. So he's still gonna play. Brady's
still going to be on the right side, but now
it's going to be yosh Niman at the right tackle position.
So wolf Pack James a minute ago said, flip the script.
Run behind Ikey on Sunday. I think that's probably the
most obvious thing to do. You got to run off
both sides. But you know, I would imagine if they
can get something moving on the left side, that they
will stick to running behind Ikey quite a bit on
(19:56):
Sunday once they if they get going against the Cowboys defense.
Let's take some phone calls. Michael's up first here on
a football Friday. Michael, what's going on.
Speaker 7 (20:03):
Buddy, happy pants Friday.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Let's go, let's talk to talk to me. What's on
your mind?
Speaker 8 (20:09):
Yeah, I was gonna say, I like where you guys
are going with the defense analysis.
Speaker 7 (20:12):
But you know, Dag's like big and he sneaky.
Speaker 8 (20:16):
He's like, he's like sneaky Mobile. But I'm just hoping
that we get that guy down and we get some
good exotic blitz packages going today because I like, you know,
the inside guys, where you're going with with Derek Brown
and the team. But yeah, can we get some good
blitzes and get that guy off.
Speaker 7 (20:31):
His spot and get him running around? I mean, I
just I.
Speaker 8 (20:33):
Really want to see him like struggle back there because
he is having a great year.
Speaker 7 (20:37):
I'll take it off the year.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
Okay, all right, I appreciate you, buddy. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
In fact, before I give you my thoughts on that
Princely human Miellen, rookie edge rusher out of Ole Miss apparently,
well not apparently. He spoke with the press a couple
of days ago. This was yesterday actually about this team's
lack of sack production, something that we have really highlighted.
Fans know about it, they just aren't. They aren't sacking
the quarterback nearly enough. Here's Princelely on a player only
meeting about getting more sack production.
Speaker 9 (21:03):
We just took it upon ourselves, like we had a meeting,
a rush meeting, just us, no coaches, you know what
I'm saying. So we really emphasized, you know, trying to
get to the quarterback because we thought our production.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
As far as sacks wise, was embarrassing, you know what
I'm saying. So only having two sacks and what was it,
I think four games. We were like, that's unacceptable. So
we came together. We seen that we had to beat
stop being so stagnant. We can't be scared. You know,
it's the NFL.
Speaker 9 (21:26):
Quarterbacks are gonna get out in the pockets some time,
so we can't rush scare, you know, only go power
because we think the dude's gonna break the pocket is
gonna happen, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
So we were just we just let loose, all right.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
They have five sacks as a team. They're tied for
dead last in the NFL. If you didn't know that,
already tied with the Chicago Bears. It is also very
bizarre because the Bears are at the bottom with the
Panthers tied at five. The next two teams are also tied.
It's the Niners and the Ravens, and those are not
teams that you ever expect to be near the the
(21:57):
dead bottom or dead last in the NFL close to
it anyway, in sack production, you just don't expect to
see that. But Panthers and Bears bottom of the NFL
five sacks, and he's right not to pile on, but
it is kind of embarrassing that you're averaging just a
sack of game right now. Not everybody can be Denver.
They have twenty one sacks in five games. They are
flat getting after it. I mean they this year, dude,
(22:20):
it's not even close. Like they have twenty one sacks
as a team. Lions are the next closest with sixteen,
averaging a whole sack of game less. I mean that
Denver's just off to an unbelievable start getting after the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
And it also doesn't help.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
And the wound gets bigger when you look at who's
leading the league in sacks right now, Brian Burns.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Yeah, it's tough to swallow. Yeah, it is, because you've
got these people.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Should have traded him sooner, should have taken the pick,
should have taken and then you look up and it's like,
I don't know, man, to the people who thought maybe.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
He should have stayed, were they right? Maybe?
Speaker 3 (22:54):
You know what I mean, they made the worst possible
decision by winning, as long as of course they watched
the whole thing. Yes, they botched the entire ordeal. But
the debate was then you know, no, you got to
take these picks. You got to get what you can
for him, and you had other people saying, well, yeah,
but he's a really good player, and you just be
trying to use those picks to chase another guy who's
as talented as he is. And now look at him.
He's leading the NFL and sacks and they won. They
(23:16):
beat up the Eagles last night, thirty four to seventeen
on Thursday Night Football. And Cam Scattabuo's a big story
obviously in Jackson Dart and those guys just you know,
with a wanton disregard for their own health, throwing their
bodies all over the place. Great fun for Giants fans.
You know, they're the big story. But Brian Burns, to
your point, seven sacks, like that's the big question. Who
was more right? What they should have taken? The picks
(23:37):
had to get him out of here, No should have
held on to him. Look at what he's doing in
New York right now. And they're not That team's not great.
They're not going to go win a Super Bowl, they're
not going to win the NFC. They look fun and
exciting and they have a future on this tough. They're
really they're really tough.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Duke Carter's not been doing that much and he was
a top five pick for him this past year. Yeah, yeah,
all right, let's take another phone call. We got DVR.
Dave up next, Dave, what's going on?
Speaker 7 (24:00):
Hey, you guys here to lay us about the Virginia's
head coaching search. Lord, you know where this is going, right?
Speaker 2 (24:07):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (24:08):
I don't.
Speaker 7 (24:10):
They called Carolina.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
For Belichick.
Speaker 7 (24:18):
I don't keep up with college sports.
Speaker 10 (24:20):
Does.
Speaker 7 (24:21):
I'm just throwing that at you to watch a twitch?
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Gotcha said? No, I'm good. What's going on? What are
your thoughts on Sunday?
Speaker 7 (24:27):
So two things. One, two hours before the game, take
Bryce Young out to the field and have the entire
special teams chasing around for about twenty minutes and just
trying to slap the ball out of his hands. If
he doesn't lose the ball, then he can throw in
the first quarter. If he loses the ball, just run
it for the first quarter and let him get settled in. Oh,
that's the only thing I got.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
That's up. All right.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
I appreciate the phone call. Thank you, Budy Corn Cob
Craig calling in from Nebraska up next.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
What's up, Craig?
Speaker 6 (24:52):
Hey, Hey, I was just gonna say, and I'm obviously.
Speaker 11 (24:56):
A very pro run the ball guy, but one thing
I kind of noticed.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
Last week and that great comeback win is, you know,
I saw less of that empty set and.
Speaker 11 (25:07):
And I don't know what the results are, but it
seems like this.
Speaker 6 (25:09):
Year they've ran a lot of empty but less last week.
And I God, if you got Josh Allen or Lamar
Jackson or Newton or even Jalen Hurts and you got
to throat of the run at the quarterback spot up,
I'm fine with empty, but I just you know, when
Bryce is in empty, it's shoot, it's day gone, short
passing game, here we come. So but heck of a
(25:31):
nice win, and I you know, I think they're going
to figure out a way to keep.
Speaker 11 (25:36):
Pounding that rock and then just real quick on jibber.
Speaker 6 (25:40):
Jabber rules team. You know, last last week Nebraska had
the fourteen point lead, then they got down twenty one
to fourteen and came back and won the game I
think thirty seven twenty seven.
Speaker 11 (25:52):
But at any rate, they they really feel like they
you know, they didn't they didn't.
Speaker 6 (25:59):
Pull up steak and full the tent like they've done previously.
So I think they really feel like they're turning a
corner here in Lincoln. I guess time will tell.
Speaker 7 (26:08):
Well, yeah, yeah, they've they've.
Speaker 6 (26:11):
Done a nice you know, nice nice season going. Yeah,
and all of a sudden, it's obviously very premature. But
holy cow, oh Rule, don't go to Penn State.
Speaker 11 (26:24):
Please don't leave.
Speaker 7 (26:25):
Oh yeah, yeah, thank.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
You, Craig.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
I appreciate the phone call, buddy, Yeah, Matt Rule. I mean,
they're four and one, but who have they beaten? Like,
let's be honest, they've beaten the Cincinnati to start the season.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
That one's actually looking better right now.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
But I'm talking about hold on, hold on. But then
they've beaten Akron sixty eight nothing.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Oh, they sucking Earl in the postseason, and arn't they.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
They beat Houston Christian fifty nine to seven, They lost
to Michigan thirty twenty seven, and they just recently beat
Michigan State thirty eight twenty seven. I'm not saying Nebraska
is no good. I'm not saying that. I'm just telling
you that I don't think anybody's buying Nebraska just yet.
But at four and one, that you could very easily
argue that, you know, Matt Rule is very much on
schedule in terms of turning around a program in Nebraska's
(27:05):
I think he's on schedule. Still some big wins they
have to pick up, but i'll leave that alone for now.
Which you guy also still doing weekly podcast? Well have
you listened to them?
Speaker 7 (27:14):
No?
Speaker 12 (27:14):
But not.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
I just I screll for my feet. I just get
a chuckle. Yeah he's doing that thing.
Speaker 5 (27:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
FanDuel text line real quick, my got charisma. The Supreme
weighing in on the Brian Burns decision we were talking
about a second ago, says not paying Burns Bowsta money
was a great decision. His production is the product of
having Abdul and TIBs to work with. It is partially that,
but I also have people like Spence, says KB. Why
didn't the Panthers pay Brian Burns if they weren't going
to trade him for two? First, was there an internal
(27:43):
conflict within the organization? Because that's as bad a blunder
as I think I've seen the Panthers make well overall again,
they just they botched it. They waited too long to
make a decision. They had the Rams Godfather offer on
the table to first and a second. I believe it
was two first and two seconds or two first in
a second. I think it was like gou was reported
to beat Yeah, yeah, sorry three yeah in a second too.
So are you sure about that? I double checked that
(28:05):
if I were you. But either way, it was a
massive offer and they opted not to take it, and
there was some conflict in the room as I understand it,
when that decision was being made, and they, of course
got Fitterer opted to say no. And I don't know
exactly what Dan Morgan thought of the trade internally at
the time. I know there were one or two other
people in the building who thought, yeah, we need to
(28:26):
do this, but they didn't actually do that, of course,
and then they just drug it out and ended up
getting what a fifth in a second when it was
all said and done.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
So yeah, and that second round pick turned into essentially
has turned into trading backed and trading up. So essentially
you got Jonathan Brooks and Nick Schurtson out of the deal.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Yeah, and that it doesn't look like adequate con compensation
based on what we've seen thus far. Schorts and looks promising. Yeah,
he does Brooks looks like the opposite of promising, and
you hated for him.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Yeah, it's it's just unfortunate with him. Yeah, no doubt. Panther.
Bo's up next on a football Friday. What's up bo?
Speaker 12 (28:57):
Hey, Aby? Thanks taking my call. Yeah, I got a
bonu pick. I'll make it real quick.
Speaker 7 (29:03):
You know, I'm a friend of the media.
Speaker 12 (29:04):
I think we've got the best b riders out there.
Julian bashed, I Mike, I mean, Sheina, all these guys
do a great job. David Eugene Newton, can you just stop?
I mean it's like that, uh like true detective and
Woody Harrelson looks over. Can you just stop saying odd crap?
I mean, I just don't get it with this dude.
And I'll make it real quick here, because I don't
(29:25):
nobody wants to Hearry bent about this, But to not
say that Derek Brown is a pass rusher, that's just
anyway I could.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Go on, but smoke, you have that audio?
Speaker 3 (29:34):
We actually have I don't in case people don't know
what you're talking about. We actually have the audio. So
I thought you were calling about something else. I thought
it was a different thing that happened today. But it's
the it's the Derek Brown thing that bothers you.
Speaker 12 (29:46):
Well, no, it's all of it. Man, it just stopped.
Stop saying odd stuff. Stop not like I don't know
whether he's trying to be funny or he just doesn't
know how to read the room, because I know Maxifin's
this guy, but it's like, dude, just read the room
like a Felda was saying Yesterday's like, why tells them
freeze the room.
Speaker 7 (30:01):
I don't get it with this guy, But.
Speaker 12 (30:04):
I mean, listen, I think we can win. I think
we just run the ball. Let our defense. I know
everyone's looking at deck like this is our defense? Can
we can? We can get in there and get them
some pressure and we can pick them off.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
I know that.
Speaker 12 (30:16):
So don't turn the ball over. I'm not going to
pointy fingers, but don't turn the ball over. And then
at the same time, we've got a great play the
great Games tomorrow. I got the Zoo over Bama, gimm
Game talks over LS two, Purdue over Minnesota, don't you know,
and then give me Panthers over Cowboys. I think I'm
already gonna get a knee injury here. So I can
get out of a hike that I got with my
life tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (30:37):
So that's good.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
Couple's hikes. Now, Man, you're you're the best both. Thank you,
God bless you. I'm not really into the hikes, honestly,
think i'd be into that hiking. Yeah, it's not that
I never want to do it.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
I just I wouldn't. I'll never be a hiker. I'll
never be a person that hikes all the time. I
got on tripmills to work out, but I can't. But
I can hop off and go right to the shower.
Speaker 12 (30:57):
Right.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
I'm not saying I don't want to hike. If I'm
going out in the woods, it's the hunt something or
go fish like I don't. I don't want to just
go walk through the woods and uphill for four straight hours.
It's not really my thing, but I'll do it occasionally.
This is the cut that he was talking about. This
was the awkward exchange between defensive coordinator Zero Avero and
Panthers beat writer David Newton about Derek Brown and pass rushing.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
Check this out one to ask you Derek Brown, Dave.
Speaker 13 (31:22):
Now, I was saying how Derek came and said he
wanted to get more involved in the pass rush.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
It's not as simple as just saying, okay, you're a
pass rusher.
Speaker 13 (31:30):
Now, cand of take me to the dynamics of what
it takes to go from what Derek normally does to
becoming a pass rusher.
Speaker 14 (31:39):
Well, Derek is is always going to be very, very
instrumental in our in our rush plan. I mean, he's
one of our best players, if not our best player. So,
but you know, I don't want to give away too
many trade secrets, but like, Derek is a very big
part of what we do obviously, and we have to
fight opportunities to give him more opportunities.
Speaker 13 (31:58):
And can you in general though, I mean a trade secret.
So I mean like a guy that's not been a
pass rusher for his career, all of a sudden you.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Want to do that?
Speaker 14 (32:05):
What what are the nuances that Well, I don't know
if I would agree and say he wasn't a pass rusher.
I think this guy showed the ability to pass rush
and and like all of our guys were all working
to get better. But I have a lot of faith
and their's ability to get out through the quarterback.
Speaker 13 (32:24):
Does he have to get more in the playbook I'm
just trying to find figure out the little nuances that
are different for him and what he has to do
with preparation during the week, if he's going to do
take on more of that role versus.
Speaker 5 (32:34):
Just you know what we used to see him.
Speaker 6 (32:38):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
I think I've answered that question away. I wanted to
thank you, Okay, I got you.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
I don't know what he was That's what Bo was
talking about for anybody who hadn't heard it.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
And I don't know what he was driving that. I
really don't. Let's go to smoke on the headlines. Who
is smoked? Where is smoke? Where there's smoke, there's fire.
Let's go what's gott all right?
Speaker 4 (33:02):
This is a Neogenics college football injury report looking at
some of the news here. Let's start actually in our
own backyard in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is not an injury,
but Zach Wilke will be the starting quarterback for the
forty nine ers after he had a better performance than
Grayson Loftus in Tampa last week, but is also likely
going to be a new member back in the backfield.
Rod Gainey Junior looks like he's going to be back.
(33:24):
He is listed as probable for Charlotte's game against Army.
That game can be heard right here on Sports Radio
w f and Z and to kickoff will be at
high noon and west point on CBS Sports Network. That
should be an interesting one and arguably one of the
bigger games of the weekend. We go to the Texas
State Fair where Oklahoma takes all on Texas into Red
(33:45):
River Rivalry, shoot out, whatever you want to call it.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
We can call it shoot out because we're not on ABC.
That's right.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
John Mattier, who has been one of the Heisman hopefuls
early on this season, is probable with his hand injury.
Kind of still see him as a game time decision,
but all accounts are saying he's probably going to be
a go as Oklahoma takes on the Longhorns tomorrow afternoon.
All right, we'll come back, we'll talk about it. Chippattersoncbsports
dot Com. Next Sports Radio ninety two seven wfn Z
(34:34):
Football Friday Panthers and Cowboys on Sunday. We got Week
seven college football coming up. We're talking about that. Coach
Richmond is giving us a chalk talk on pass rushing
on the FanDuel text line.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Right now, I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
I think he was trying to interpret what he thinks
that David Newton is youuro everro exchange was intended to
be and I appreciate Richmond coach Richmond breaking that down
for us. But right now we welcome in and welcome
back Chip Patterson of CBS Sports dot Com, CBS Sports
Network in the Cover three podcast back with us for
a Friday conversation. Chip, I saw you took in the
(35:08):
Canes opener last night.
Speaker 7 (35:09):
Man, how was that electric?
Speaker 6 (35:12):
It was? It was?
Speaker 7 (35:14):
It was a lot of fun to be back in
that building. And it was a fun game, right you know,
it's just a little bit.
Speaker 10 (35:20):
Nervy there at the end, but then you get the
game winner from Jarvis and then pour it on.
Speaker 7 (35:25):
I was, uh, it was. It was a good one
to be in the building for.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
That's awesome. All right, we have limited time.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
Give me Chip Patterson's read on the North Carolina situation
with Bill Belichick. After a week week's worth of reporting
and statements and tons of speculation, what's you take.
Speaker 7 (35:40):
You're in the big game now here we go?
Speaker 10 (35:42):
You know, like this is it's just like where every
people have chosen their size, right and in the same
way that I felt. And I'm sorry, just gonna get
a little vibeszy, but I think you could roll with it.
But I felt that there was a force around the
North Carolina coaching search. I thought, if they just spoke
Bill Belichick into existence to it happened, right like, if
(36:04):
we just keep talking about it, if we just like
I think, we can just make this thing happen.
Speaker 7 (36:10):
And they did successfully.
Speaker 10 (36:12):
Now it has not been successful in terms of the
way that it's played out. And now it's like there's
this crew that's just already over it, like no, absolutely.
Speaker 7 (36:20):
Not, this guy. End has got to end right now.
Speaker 10 (36:22):
And so kind of in the midst of all that,
there still is a team, right is I see Kemory House,
one of the better players on that defense. I see him,
you know, offering up for you know, encouraging sort of
messages on his Twitter account. Like I there still are
players that are going to have to go out to Berkeley,
California and play against the cal Bears coming up next weekend.
(36:44):
So everyone on the outside of that building seems to
have chosen their side where they stand on it. And
now we'll see how it ends up affecting if at
all the players on the inside.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
Okay, so do you have any I mean, what do
you think of the notion that they could be done
with him before cown next week week? Because I don't
know that I find that to be truthful, but it
has been reported, and at the very least the conversation
would indicate their extreme displeasure with what they've seen so far.
Speaker 7 (37:10):
I would imagine that.
Speaker 10 (37:13):
I would imagine that the process is going to be
very detail oriented, like this is the example I've been
using Northwestern.
Speaker 7 (37:21):
Like was sort of rushed to action to get rid
of Pat Fitzgerald.
Speaker 10 (37:24):
And the hazing allegations came out, and then Pat Fitzgerald
sued him for every single bit of the buy out
and won the lawsuit. You know, it was like, as
a university, you got to make sure if you're going
to take action on a head coach that you got
everything buttoned up from the paperwork perspective, I guess is
the best way to put it, So that any sort
of swift action because of that I think would surprise me.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Okay, Chip pattersoncbsports dot Com. It's not a robust weekend
in the ACC We got Pitt Florida State Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech. We got n C State, Notre Dame, Wake Forest,
Oregon State out of conference, Clemson, Boston College. Which of
these games means the most to you? Which one will
have the biggest impact?
Speaker 7 (38:07):
I mean, truthfully, there's sort of two things that are
going on this week. The Georgia Tech.
Speaker 10 (38:14):
Virginia Tech game is interesting just because it is a
game that if Georgia Tech is as good as the
number beside its name, then they should handle business there.
Speaker 7 (38:24):
Georgia Tech also, especially in this series, they've been known
to play really close to each other. Somebody plays off
and somebody plays.
Speaker 10 (38:30):
Down, So looking at Georgia Tech. And then the other thing,
which is I guess on a similar line, is how
does Florida State respond after the lost to Miami. So
that's a fascinating one because Paton Ordouzy does.
Speaker 7 (38:42):
Have in his record book as Pitt's head coach.
Speaker 10 (38:45):
Road wins against good ACC teams, going into Depth Valley
and beating the eventual national champs in twenty sixteen. So
you know, does Florida State bounce back or does make
that thing a little bit hairy? Those are two spots
where you've got teams Georgia Tech and Florida State that
should take care of business. All signs point to it.
Speaker 7 (39:04):
But there's just a feeling that it could be closer
than you expect.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
We were just talking South Carolina at LSU. We had
a Gamecock fan, a very confident Gamecock fan, saying they're
going down there to get a win. I could see
it with the big time latora seller's performance. I still
don't trust the defense, but I do think it's possible.
Where where where's your gut on this game Saturday night?
Speaker 10 (39:25):
I mean, Brian Kelly slaps the podium and tries to
remind you about it, but I mean, his seniors have
only lost one game in Tiger Stadium at night, so
it's a I mean, I'm I'm so sorry to be
over simplistic about that, but I just don't see this
South Carolina team being able to do everything that.
Speaker 7 (39:44):
It takes to go into that building and win under
the lights in baton rouge.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
Okay, all right, well that's I'm with you on that one.
What about this Florida Texas A and M game A
and M's favored by a touchdown? Florida feels a little
dangerous right now, But I don't know they're dangerous enough
to go in there and get a win.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (40:02):
I mean, here we are again, Billy Napier kind of
trying to save his job. Lagway seems to have figured
some things out, but is it enough?
Speaker 11 (40:08):
Yeah, and you know Dallas.
Speaker 10 (40:10):
It helps Dallas Wilson, this freshman wide receiver who looks
like he's NFL ready right now.
Speaker 7 (40:15):
I mean that was his that was his first game.
He hadn't been healthy.
Speaker 10 (40:20):
This whole Florida team has been a little bit snake
bitten by injury, and some of them turning around. Their
play is coming along with getting healthier. So yeah, they're
I mean they're surging up. I just think Texas A
and M is a good team. I don't know if
they'll be able to, you know, duck the trend of
falling apart in November, the way that Texas A and
M has kind of been doing here for a little bit,
(40:42):
even across different head coaches. So I don't know those
are going to be questions for early November. As I
look at him right now.
Speaker 7 (40:49):
I think they're pretty good football teams.
Speaker 10 (40:51):
So I think that's going to be a lot about
Texas A and m kind of proving itself and.
Speaker 7 (40:56):
Log going to win that. A lot of people will
be impressed.
Speaker 3 (40:58):
By John Matteer makes his return tomorrow. We're told, does
that does that automatically equal to win over Texas in
the shootout in the cotton ball or do you think
there's more to this game?
Speaker 13 (41:07):
Oh?
Speaker 10 (41:07):
I just I think that there's always always a situation
in a season where you got to look at that
game as an island, like it is all alone. Whatever
Texas does all year, whatever Oklahoma does all year, they
might do the exact opposite thing in this game.
Speaker 7 (41:24):
It's just that's that's the way that this rivalry goes.
Speaker 10 (41:26):
It really is something about playing in that stadium with
the fifty to fifty split crowd. It's just turned up
to another level. I feel like this is this is
going to be the one where, Yes, Oklahoma's defense should
absolutely maul Texas's offensive line, which looks really, really bad.
But at the same time, I would it be the
(41:47):
craziest thing if this is where you know, Texas finally
puts it all together. So I'm I wouldn't be surprised
if Texas is able to get up off the mat
and make things a little bit interesting. But if Matier plays,
then it's going to be a problem because he's such
a difference maker and an upgrade in my opinion from
the backup Michael Hawkins Junior.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
A couple quick things. We'll let you go.
Speaker 3 (42:08):

Bama is favored by two and a half on the
road right now against Missouri.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
Should they be.
Speaker 7 (42:18):
Yeah, I think so. I mean I'm on the Alabama
side of it. Yeah, I get like it is the
smart side.
Speaker 10 (42:24):
I know a lot of smart people who've made really smart.
Speaker 7 (42:26):
Arguments for a while. You know this is fair. Not
only is this fair, but that Missouri is a good bet.
And I get it, I hear you.
Speaker 10 (42:35):
But what was it I was I think it was
against Texas A and M last year right where it
was like forty two to ten. Missouri gets hot, Missouri,
you know, had some wins. I mean, Kansas kind of
moved the ball on him a little bit. South Carolina
was in.
Speaker 12 (42:49):
That thing late.
Speaker 10 (42:50):
I'm I just think that I've got a little bit
more confidence in the Crimson.
Speaker 7 (42:54):
Tide now doing it on the road in sec play
in this huge game.
Speaker 11 (42:59):
Who knows.
Speaker 10 (42:59):
We saw them, you know, wet themselves in Tallahaffy, so
they're capable of it. But I'm on the Alabama's getting better.
That Alabama's really good and probably my if we were
just saying our favorite team in terms of like the
one you would want to back, I think Alabama's that
team for me.
Speaker 7 (43:15):
In the SEC.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
Indiana Oregon Top ten matchup in Austin Stadium and Eugene
just massive. Still hard to believe that Kurt Signetti's doing
this again. They're both five and oh, both to and
oh and the big ten. I mean, Oregon favored by
a touchdown and a half here feels like the winner,
but like, can can Signetti do this?
Speaker 13 (43:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (43:34):
Of course Signetti can do this?
Speaker 12 (43:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (43:36):
How about this is also I mean, these are probably
the two top quarterbacks in the sport right now.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (43:43):
I mean it's I think it's.
Speaker 10 (43:44):
Like sixteen and one to fourteen and one touchdown to
interception ratio.
Speaker 7 (43:49):
I mean, they're just.
Speaker 10 (43:49):
They've both been absolutely locked in as like new starters
taking over it with those offenses.
Speaker 7 (43:57):
So I mean it could be the way that I.
Speaker 10 (44:00):
Imagine this game is that it is going to be
a little bit of back and forth and have a
couple of big swings. Now, I think to like what
you're sort of suggesting. I think Oregon probably wins. I
mean I generally think so, but Indiana absolutely can do it.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
Okay Signetti and Indiana long term in your mind.
Speaker 10 (44:21):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 7 (44:22):
I think that he's yeah.
Speaker 10 (44:24):
I mean, there's something about the journey he's already had
where I don't know, I mean, he could absolutely find
a spot where he's got his own reasons to want
to do it or a relationship that could you know,
I'm not aware of.
Speaker 7 (44:38):
But I think he likes.
Speaker 10 (44:42):
I think he likes what he's got in terms of
a lot of new and excited benefactors, you know, like
the reason Indiana decided sort of as a community, we
are not going to let football.
Speaker 7 (44:55):
Drag behind and they they rallied and they.
Speaker 10 (44:57):
Pulled things together, and they created a situation where Indiana
went from the bottom of the Big Ten in terms
of football investment.
Speaker 7 (45:04):
I think in the upper third at least.
Speaker 10 (45:06):
And that's a massive conference.
Speaker 7 (45:07):
That's like top five in the conference. So you know,
that's when you're the face of that, when you're leading
that charge.
Speaker 10 (45:14):
I think that's an invigorating spot, so I don't see
him rushing to leave just because Indiana is having historically
great success year in and year out.
Speaker 3 (45:22):
Chip, We appreciate you, buddy, have a great weekend. We'll
talk to you next Friday.
Speaker 7 (45:26):
