number three? What are you thinking tonight? What are you
because at full disclosure, I think I told you this
before the show. I've got back to back high school
football games to call tomorrow night. In fact, I've got
three over the weekend, so I'm gonna be calling three games.
I am not sticking around tonight. I have a bad

game show, and then I'm going to go home and
watch this one on TV while I prep for the
broadcast over the weekend. So, Smoke, you've been around a
long time. Just in terms of being a Panthers fan,
You've seen a lot of these games. You know there
can be some meaningful moments. What are you watching for tonight?
In preseason game number three?

I definitely want to see how some of the linebackers look,
how the offensive line looks, and I'm kind of interested.
I don't know what to expect from Bryce Perkins, but
you know, having a new quarterback into the mix is
definitely going to make things more interesting, especially after having
to watch Jack Plumber forout the whole entire preseason last year.
I will be honest o, Kyle, I'm not used to
watching this preseason game. Whenever they played the Steelers. I'm

not used to watching it in the preseason. Well, but
because it was always the last one, it was always
on a Thursday like it is today. I was usually,
especially as a kid, at a JV football game.

The other thing too, is it's funny you mentioned that
I was on Pittsburgh Radio last night. So we had
Andrew Philippony on yesterday their afternoon drive. We sat down
recorded a great conversation ahead of time. Great depending upon
your perspective, because some people hated what he said about
Mike Tomlin. But I went on the evening show last
night up in Pittsburgh on ninety three to seven, the fan.

which is the most Pittsburgh thing of all time.

to this annual battle between the Panthers and the Steelers

I was like, no, because nobody ever plays in this game.

one and it's the final preseason hurdle that we can
get past, and then we just have to sit there
and twiddle our thumbs and hurry up and wait until

the regular season begins on September the seventh. But you
know it will be behind us. And I like what
you said about Bryce Perkins. I gotta be honest, Smoke.
This is not the I promise, This is not the
Virginia Tech alum in me, but this is I don't
have super high hopes for Bryce Perkins.

Would love to come in here tomorrow and talk about,
Oh my god, did you see Bryce Perkins? And man,
that time in the UFL must have really done him

a lot of people today saying, yeah, I can't wait
to watch Bryce Perkins tonight. Now, I'm like, I didn't
think I'd ever say that sentence for the rest of
my life, and I'm not gonna start right now because
the last time I saw him in the NFL with
the Rams was pretty dreadful. So I am tempering my
expectations and because of that, like we expect to see

Jalen Coker play tonight, right. Coker is a guy fourth
wide receiver on the roster, even though you expect him
to make the team and a lot of you expect
him to have like a career trajectory changing season upcoming,
and he's still the fourth wide receiver on the team.

He still plays special teams. He's gonna be out there tonight.

But how many opportunities will we see for guys like
Jalen Coker to go out there and make a play
with Bryce Perkins at quarterback? So like we're gonna have
to wait and find out. But I do think he
fits the mold Perkins that is better in the modern
day NFL, And I heard West bring this up earlier today,
and he's absolutely right. You look around the NFL, even
the predominantly pocket passing quarterbacks have athleticism, the ability to

the play, you know, things like that. The statuesque six six'
four six' five pocket passing quarterback who presents absolutely no
threat in a. Different dimension they're going the way Of
The dodo bird a little. Bit Right so perkins does
fit the MODERN day nfl a little, bit more and

about the wide receiver room being really deep, RIGHT now

i think this all comes down to what would you

be the bigger Takeaway for carolina to want to get

of what he has meant to the culture of this

i don't necessarily agree that they should get rid, of
steeling but it certainly you have to listen to see
possibly if there's an exchange to be made that could

moments at practice because they're not delving into this playbook
trying to understand the offense like this is their second

think that probably speaks a lot to some of these.
Preseason Games but i've heard from, coaches Too like brce
has always been good one on one with, his TEAMMATES
but i think, this year because there is that understanding,
the offense he's able to vocalize his own understanding of
the offense to his teammates even in a, group setting

whereas last year was, you know a lot of the
coaches were talking to him directly trying to get his
understanding up. To Speed now bryce is one to kind
of help these other players around him get up, to speed, All, Right.

how the offensive line looks, and I'm kind of interested.
I don't know what to expect from Bryce Perkins, but
you know, having a new quarterback into the mix is
definitely going to make things more interesting, especially after having
to watch Jack Plumber forout the whole entire preseason last year.
I will be honest o, Kyle, I'm not used to
watching this preseason game. Whenever they played the Steelers. I'm

because it was always the last one, it was always
on a Thursday like it is today. I was usually,

Mike Tomlin. But I went on the evening show last

But how many opportunities will we see for guys like
Jalen Coker to go out there and make a play

the predominantly pocket passing quarterbacks have athleticism, the ability to

has always been good one on one with, his TEAMMATES
but i think, this year because there is that understanding,
the offense he's able to vocalize his own understanding of

coaches were talking to him directly trying to get his
