Speaker 2 (00:24):
Good afternoon, Queen City.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
We got a loaded show for you on a Wednesday,
back live from the Chandler Volta Studios. The Carolina's Personal
Injury Lawyers. One call, that's all go to CV Injurylaw
dot com. That's Cvinjurylaw dot Com. Seth Greenberg, two time
ACC Coach of the Year, ESPN College Game Day analyst
back in forty three minutes. We'll talk about Duke and

(00:46):
Carolina taking care of business last night, his thoughts on
the start of the Will Wade era at NC State,
and a whole bunch of college college hoops, plus his
thoughts on Conka nipple start as a Charlotte Hornet. We'll
get to that with Seth Greenberg, Rich of the Tampa
Bay Times, long time Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat writer, is
coming up at four twenty five.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I bet you know what we're talking about.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Panthers and Bucks on Sunday, two of the last three weeks,
deciding the NFC South Crown with a man who has
covered the Bucks for I think a couple of decades
at this point. Rick Stroud back at four twenty five,
and then at five o'clock, two time Pro Bowler, Super
Bowl champion, SEC Network analyst and our boy Roman Harper
back at five o'clock. We're loaded with lots and lots
of great things to talk about. Taking your text on

(01:29):
the FanDuel text line, taking your phone calls both the
same number seven oh four, five, seven oh ninety six
to ten, hit us up with your thoughts. As always,
a lot of places I could start, but I do
want to touch really quickly on the fact that the
NFL has privately admitted to the Carolina Panthers that the
Tetroo McMillan catch that was overturned on the sideline Sunday
turned out to be the wrong call by the NFL

(01:52):
and the replay officiating crew. Now, of course the Panthers
would go on to extend that drive. It didn't cost
them the game, but it is an interesting decision, and
I don't know why they're admitting it privately as opposed
to just putting it out there. And maybe they'll talk
more about this this coming weekend on you know, at
least one of the pregame shows or somewhere at some point.
I know Mike Florio when I watched his tidbit on

(02:13):
this earlier today with Chris Sims, kind of took a
shot at the studio pregame show saying that, you know,
maybe we'll get a little bit of something about this.
I mean, it's a two hundred and forty minute pregame show.
For God's sake, they're doing game shows on the pregame show.
And then he kind of backed off and was like,
not that.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
That mean it's fun. It's fine, it's not a big deal.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
But you know, I'd like to hear from the officiating
guys just a little bit more as to why we're
doing things the way we are and why they overturn
that call in correctly. And I mean, the bottom line
is it boils down to what is a catch?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
What?

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Once again, does the NFL have a firm enough grasp
on what a catch is? And you know, no pun intended,
because I thought that Tenera McMillan.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
It's funny.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I was when I first saw that play Smoke driving
home on Sunday. Like I told you, I didn't get
to watch the full game until Monday morning in the office.
But I was listening to the Panthers race broadcast driving
home Sunday, and I heard everything go down, and I
actually got a chance to talk to a niche drop
about this. I was driving into work today, spend some

(03:09):
time on the phone talking to a niche. I'll save
what he has to say for tomorrow because he's going
to join us tomorrow at five o'clock to talk about
a bunch of stuff. But when they were calling that
play as I was driving home, you know, a niche
is doing his job calling the play, trying to figure
out it's a catch. They've ruled it a catch. He's
on the sideline. What an effort by Tedero McMillan. And
then almost immediately as the replay start to come in,

(03:30):
you can hear the deflation in Jake and Luke's voice
as they realize, Oh, that's probably not going to be
a catch based on what it looks like. And I'm like, damn,
you know, like everybody else listening to it, like I
hear Luke, I hear Jake, these guys know what they're
looking at. IM like, damn, they're gonna they're gonna call
this thing back, aren't they? And then I finally got
to watch the game broadcast and see the catch itself,

(03:50):
and I saw it and I thought, yeah, it looked
like that he had the hand under the ball at first,
but then as the continuous motion content like is he
keeps rolling out of bounds, it looks like he's palming
the ball with his right hand and it never came out.
And I'm thinking to myself, there's a world in which
that kind of looks like a catch, but it hit
the ground. I get it, like I've been trained to
believe that when the ball hits the ground, it's probably

(04:13):
not going to be a catch, even though so long
the rule state, so long as you're not using the
ground as the third hand essentially, and you maintain ball
controlled throughout the course of the catch, it can be
a catch even if it hits the ground. But the
NFL has admitted privately, and again I'd love your thoughts
on that privately admitting to the Panthers that that was
not so they should not have been overturned, I guess,

(04:34):
is the point that maybe they're not declaring it was
a one hundred percent, no doubt about it. Catch, but
rather there wasn't sufficient evidence on the replay to have
overturned the call on the field. This is not super consequential,
but it does speak to sometimes the NFL still, it seems,
is wrestling itself with what they think a catch on

(04:55):
the football field is.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
What did you think about that news today?

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Very interesting?

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Yeah, that they decided to privately say that, you know,
watching it live, you know, as sick as I was
and under the weather I was, if you could see
me on my couch, I was using my hands like
go go go go, go, go, get to the lone,
get to the line, to the line, just do something,

(05:21):
do something. But they didn't do it because I think
you're waiting for the two minute warning. I saw it,
I'm like my head started to kind of turn like
a dog that's trying to hear. I'm like, huh, I
mean yeah, I could add probably incomplete, but right.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
And when I watched it again after the fact, I
was like, oh, okay, I don't know. Man, like he'd
palmed the ball the whole time though, like his right
hand was securely on that ball throughout the barrel roll,
and I thought, yeah, that looks pretty smooth.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
I guess it hit the ground, so whatever.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
But you know, I wasn't really going to argue with it,
but the NFL apparently felt compelled to tell the Panthers that, eh,
you know, I know you extended the dry but you know,
we got that one wrong.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Sorry about that.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
And I'll respect the NFL for actually doing it privately
before it got leaked by Mike Florio instead of doing
a fact report every single night saying sorry, we screwed
you for the four fifty eighth time.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Rightc NBA. More on that in a second.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
Yeah, but I just think it's frustrating. But as you said,
the next play, they got the first down, right, So.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
It's not one that you're like seething about after the fact.
I just thought it was interesting that here we are,
still in the Year of Our Lord, twenty twenty five
and this league is still sometimes struggling with, you know,
its own rules around completions and catches. But you know,
Stanley Jay says, honestly, I was fifty to fifty if
it was or not. Jack says, now the Panthers are
going to be punished for making that private conversation with
NFL officials public. That did cross my mind. That did

(06:49):
cross my mind that, you know, how did that get out?
Did the league not want that to get out?

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Did they?

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Is there a reasonable expectation that it wouldn't get out?

Speaker 2 (06:58):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
I'm not sure if anybody's going to be mad at
the Panthers, But you know, this league still struggles sometimes
with its own rule book seven oh four five seven
ninety six ten. Sugar Creek Big O asks, shouldn't it
have to be challenged? Though it wasn't. Inside the last
two minutes, Saints did challenge that, right. I thought Kellen
Moore threw the flag on that.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
Yeah, because you have two challenges.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah, I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
I'm almost And again I got my first you know,
engagement with that play was via the radio. But I'm
pretty positive to Kellen Moore through the challenge flag.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
The other thing is they didn't show that one as
opposed to the first one. Yeah, that's what happened.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yeah, well, so again it is what it is. By
the way, as it relates to the Panthers. Really quickly,
the injury report is out today. Smoke and I have
vowed to not get upset about the Wednesday injury report.
None of us longtime NFL fans should. But guys like
j C. Horn and Ikey Akwanu and Tedero McMillan did
not practice today, which we found out. And we've got

(07:55):
the Dave Canalis press conference audio coming up here in
just a little bit. But apparently Tedora McMillan was rolled
up on during the New Orleans game, but they're expecting
to get him back to practice tomorrow. So you know,
there are some notable and let's say worry some absences
if you want to look at it that way, on
the injury report today for practice. But it's Wednesday, it's

(08:15):
a vet day, it's late in the season. They're trying
to keep guys healthy for a final three week push here,
so I just wouldn't put too much stock into today's
injury report.

Speaker 5 (08:24):
Ikey also day to day, right, and Damien's sick. He
might have gotten what we got, aren't we all. I
don't know anybody who isn't frigging sick, Honestly, Davey, you've
probably got what we got.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
It's possible. I mean, half the people I know in
my life are sick right now. So I'm not shocked
to find out that Damian Lewis doesn't feel well either,
but you know, good luck and good best wishes. My man,
go get healthy and drink some emergency every day for
the next couple of days, because we need this offensive
line to get back at it on Sunday because they're
going to have to run the football. I keep thinking
about this game on Sunday against Tampa and what it's

(08:55):
going to look like, and how Dave is going to
attack this Tampa defense, and you know, will they run
the foot ball effectively? Is this going to be a
air it out shootout between Bryce Young and Baker Mayfield?
Who's playing better right now? Is Baker healthy enough to
win that kind of shootout?

Speaker 6 (09:09):
You know?

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Can the Panthers get to him, rattle him, put a
couple of big hits on him, make him uncomfortable, make
him feel some pain in that left shoulder. How much
have you thought? I mean, I know you think about
the Panthers all the time, pretty much. But like early
in the week here we'll talk to Rick Stroud here
in about an hour and fifteen minutes smoke, but like,
what is your early read on this game? What do
you how do you envision it goes? I know you've
picked him to win. But what do you think this

(09:29):
looks like? I think this looks like.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
It could be more of a shootout type because I
think you're going to get the Bucks every single chance.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Because this is of the two games, this is the
most important.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
I think I sent you a stat that the Panthers'
chances according I believe this was the Joe person of
the Athletic. The playoff chances for Carolina if they win
this game, as approached to if they lose this game,
are extremely drastic for this game.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
So here it is.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
If Carolina beats Tampa Bay Day, their playoff chances, according
to the Athletics Playoff Predictor, goes to forty five percent.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
If they lose on Sunday, let.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Me guess, Let me guess, Let me guess, drops to
eight percent, close five percent. Oh so Sunday is do
or die yes in terms of odds, and I don't
have the Bucks in front of mine, but I wouldn't
be shocked if it's something maybe a little bit higher,
just because they've been at the top the whole year.

Speaker 5 (10:26):
Yeah uh, but yeah, it's one of those types of games.
This is one where the first one has about two
thirds of the weight of it heading into it, or
maybe even three fourths of the weight and the last
one while may being the biggest one at the end,
but we have to get to that point first.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Sure.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Yeah, I mean the one that they just played. I
believe had they beaten the Saints, the playoff odds would
have gone up to sixty two percent. Yes, and as
a result of the loss, I forget what you said.
The number was there currently. I think it's like twenty
four to twenty five. So that was NFL's Oh, I
got you, Okay. The one I believe they showed on
the Fox graphic was win to sixty two loss drops
them to twenty four or twenty five percent four chance

(11:07):
of making the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
That was NFL's aws.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Okay, Yeah, that's.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
What it was.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
So, I mean, it's it's the biggest game and Bank
of America Stadium of the David Tepper era. I know
we've had some conversations similar to that over the past
several weeks, but I don't think and listen, they all
get more important as a season goes along, unless you've
clenched and you're still fighting for position. They all get
increasingly more important. But here we are again a Sunday.
I can't wait to get out there by the Way

(11:32):
Bank of America Stadium, WFNZ Doghouse powered by Jack Daniels
Sunday morning, Me and Mack are going to be fired
up at ten am on the nose for three hours
of premium Panthers pregame coverage right here on Charlotte Sports,
the leader for the Charlotte Sports fan WFNZ ten Am
to one pm countdown to kickoff from the WFNZ Doghouse
powered by Jack Daniels. I suspect it's going to be

(11:55):
a party. The weather is supposed to be tremendous, uh
maybe even unseasonably war at about sixty one degrees I
think on Sunday for the game, so the crowd should
be incredible. I can't wait to find a lot of
things right. I'm just looking forward to the day across
the board. But how much of a home field advantage
will Panthers fans have in this one? You know, will

(12:15):
Tampa fans show up in big numbers? We'll Carolina fans.
I go back to the Rams game a couple of
weeks ago. The weather was rough, they were coming off
a disappointing loss.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
A lot of folks thought.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
That this was going to be a game where they
just got blasted and they end up upsetting what I
think still is the best team in the NFL. And
it was a day that, as we talked about that
following Monday, was one of the coolest and most special,
you know days that I've seen in Bank of America
Stadium since I've been here. And I realized the bar
has been set kind of low because they haven't made
the playoffs in seven years. But to watch the crowd

(12:48):
come alive in the rain, in the cold to help
usher that team to a win over the La Rams,
It's got me really looking forward to Sunday at the
Bank and seeing what the fans can bring because the
Panthers are going to need you. Like I'm not a big,
you know, raw raw guy when it comes to this,
but home field advantage matters. This is a de facto
playoff game.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
I just can't.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
I mean, I know it's gonna be Christmas week coming
up and people are traveling, but damn it, if you
can get to the Bank on Sunday, you got to
get to the Bank on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Not for me, for those boys over there now.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Selfishly, I would love to be in the press box,
you know for a Panthers Sunday where you know they
outnumber the opposing fans eighty five to fifteen, ninety to ten,
it's near sold out, and you know it's just wrecking
crew loud in there and making a bit. That's what
I want to see, Like, I'd want to see Panthers
fans get out there Sunday and get really loud on
third downs for the opposition, you know, for some some

(13:39):
delay of game penalties. This this team, I think, as crazyly,
as crazy maddening as they've been to watch this year,
they A deserve the support and B I think they
will really benefit from having a real crowd at their
back on Sunday. Weather's gonna be great. Hope to see
a ton of you out there seven oh four or five,
seven oh ninety six to ten. Hit us up on
the FanDuel text line real quick before we step aside too.

(14:02):
Keep sending your thoughts on the Panthers on Sunday against
the Bucks. But I did want to ask this question,
and we'll talk about it at greater length when we
come back. But the New York Knicks won the NBA
Cup last night, all right, and they won a championship.
The NBA has gone, you know, out of its way,
to great lengths to make this look different, feel unique,

(14:22):
seem more important. They put a lot of money on
the line for these players to win it. Well, a
lot relative to the average human. Maybe not as much
to the average NBA player, but it's a lot of money.
And so the Knicks won the NBA Cup last night,
and they're apparently not even gonna hang a banner.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
They're just not into it. Not gonna hang a banner.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
Now, the Lakers and the Bucks did prior to this,
but the Knicks say, nah, they're too good for that.
What are the most meaningless trophies, titles, and accolades in
all of sports? Seven oh four five, seven ninety six
to ten. Hit me up on the fan duel text line,
what what? What do you think?

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Some he just said?

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Who cares about the NBA Cup, especially in Charlotte? How
do we even have an NBA team anymore? Bro, I'm
not breaking down a game. Just chill for a second.
I think it's I don't fault the NBA for trying.
They have modeled this after European soccer. They've tried to
do something cool and different to spur more interest in
regular season games because regular season TV ratings have been
declining for many, many, many years, and so they try

(15:21):
to spice it up. And I don't blame them for trying.
There's nothing wrong with that. Do I think these games
feel any different personally? And not really like last night's
maybe because it was, you know, like a championship type
of event. There literally was a championship on the line,
and you can hang a banner if you want to.
But I don't think most of the people that I
talked to see the NBA Cup as anything of great relevance.

(15:45):
Let's say so, if I ask you the question, what
are the most meaningless trophies, titles, and accolades in all
of sports?

Speaker 2 (15:53):
What comes to your mind? Seven oh four or five,
seven ninety six?

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Ten?

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Smoke? Whatook comes to your mind? Most overrated era?

Speaker 4 (16:00):
All of it?

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Meaningless accolades, titles, trophies and all of sports?

Speaker 2 (16:04):
What are they?

Speaker 5 (16:06):
Any of the horse championships, the horse championships, Breeders Cup,
Kentucky Derby. Why I have to see six hour pregame
shows for horse race?

Speaker 2 (16:18):
The pre race show, sir.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
Yeah, six hour pre race show for a race at
only last two minutes. Yeah, Yet I can't even get
an hour long post pre race show for random NASCAR
race in July that last about three hours.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Yeah, think about that.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Okay, So you're going horse racing.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
Yes, and the horses don't even know they won, all right.
I remember when there was a big scoring air in
the Kentucky Derby one year. What were they doing? They
were smelling each other's butts. Care if they want or
not that they're animals?

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Okay, all right, but I mean like the Knicks don't now.
Of course the Lakers and the Bucks did, but the
Knicks don't even want to hang a banner, which is
funny because the Lakers have titles certainly much more recent
than the Knicks. The Bucks do two, and they're like, yeah,
we'll hang the banner. We won something, We're gonna hang
the banner, and the Knicks are like, Now, for the Knicks,
it's Madison Square Garden. It's not fitting for this venue.

(17:11):
We're better than this. We're not gonna hang the banner.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
But Billy Joe will give you a banner.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
So they're literally telling you they don't think it's all
that meaningful if they're not even willing to hang the banner.
So what do you think of the most is the
most meaningless title, trophy or accolade in sports? We'll talk
about it next Sports Radio ninety two to seven wfn Z.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
In conspicuous, ridiculous. Man, that's it.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
See, I'm from the South. Some of the most beautiful
things come.

Speaker 5 (17:38):
Out my mouth.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
And how those yes, as someone does not come out house?

Speaker 3 (17:42):
What one of the most meaningless titles, trophies and accolades
in sports today or in sports history? Seven oh four, five,
seven oh ninety six, ten. And I ask that not
as a cynical fan who hates the NBA. That is
not true. I'm sure I'll get accused of that by
at least one person. I love basketball. I've loved this
league my entire life. But I'm just being honest. The

(18:03):
NBA Cup games don't feel any different to me. They
don't feel other than of course, the court designs and
you know, maybe some alternative jerseys, but other than that,
they just don't feel that different to me. If you
like basketball, you're gonna watch basketball. If you don't, you won't.
But you know, last night, the Knicks won the NBA Cup.
They're the third team to do so. Previously, the Lakers
and Bucks won the Cup and hung banners in their

(18:24):
respective arenas at the Crypt at five Serve. But the
Knicks last night, after their head coach Mike Brown said, Yah,
it's nice to hang a banner, the Knicks front office
very quickly said actually, actually, actually, coach, we're not gonna
do that. I'm gonna guess James Dolan thought that. You know,
the Knicks were above hanging a banner for the NBA Cup,
So they're not gonna do it. They don't think it's

(18:45):
that important, clearly, And so I'm asking you what you
think are the most meaningless titles, trophies, and accolades in sports.
We're talking about the Panthers too. We're talking about the
Hornets and some college basketball with Seth Greenberg coming up
in nineteen minutes. He's back college Game Day analyst, former
ACC Coach of the Year Seth Greenberg in nineteen minutes.
Also Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times talking Panthers

(19:08):
and Bucks at four twenty five, So make sure to
stick around for that, and you know we'll talk to
Roman Harper at five o'clock about all things football. So
make sure to stick around all the way across the board. Now,
some of these texts coming in here, I did have
somebody immediately say who's going to be the first person
to upset Smoke and say that every wrestling belt ever

(19:30):
is meaningless and has no value whatsoever. I'm paraphrasing that
last part. And then interestingly enough, four labradoodles got specific
and said the Intercontinental Championship belt in wrestling is one
of the worst ones out there. I mean, it's so
oddly specific I had to read it. I'm getting if
you have a beef with not all of the belts,

(19:52):
but just the Intercontinental Championship. I do have some questions here, like,
I mean, Smoke, who's the greatest continental champion in wrestling history?

Speaker 4 (20:02):
Uh, that's a tough one.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Brett hart Jahn, Michaels up there, up there, Christ Jericho,
are you looking at a list?

Speaker 2 (20:10):
No, of course not.

Speaker 6 (20:11):
Hang.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
You actually knew what was Smoke him older than you.
I used to watch wrestling.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
I didn't know you'd know that many intercontinental champions.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Good Lord, Yes, I know things.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
Uh, it'd probably be a dead tie between Uh, that's
not the best phrasing considering the two people I'm about
to mention between Macho Man and Randy Savage and mister Perfect.
M okay, got perfect really made that title his even
wrestled on a bad back at Madison Square. Guarden had
one of the best matches of his career against Brett Hart.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
Yeah uh yeah, Raiser Ramone was the inter Continental champion
two five times?

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Oh yes he was?

Speaker 4 (20:47):
Or do you think about that? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (20:48):
All right, So where's a tooth pick?

Speaker 4 (20:50):
Do I have a toothpick? Where's that?

Speaker 2 (20:51):
We got to get you one. We gotta get you one.
Let's see here.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
A lot of bowl game hate on the text line too,
a lot of bowl game hate. It says random bowl wins,
which are eventually going to be gone soon. Anyway, the
most meaningless single championship ever was Lebron's Mickey Mouse ring.
I got to get that one in. I appreciate your
commitment to the bit cod Okay, yeah, basically, yeah, hey, whoa, whoa.
I can't I can't completely sign off on that.

Speaker 4 (21:14):
But you've gotten too since then.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
All right, fair enough, fair enough, I'll let it go.
All right, let's see Brian saying CMC winning Fantasy Player
of the Year for the twenty nineteen season.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
That's pretty funny. I forgot that was an award. That's
pretty funny.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Jay Ricard saying Fitty's Church League records are meaningless.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Yeah, to the.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Rest of us, but not to him. And I do
question the veracity. The validity of Fiddy's claimed Church League
championships and records.

Speaker 5 (21:40):
He says, have to do with something that you think
he did to you earlier today.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Yeah, I got it. Do you want to go there?

Speaker 6 (21:46):
Right?

Speaker 3 (21:47):
I mean, we don't have to go there, go there.
But I walked out to my truck today, which I
parked on park of the on top of the parking deck.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
I don't have anything on my truck I have.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
I have no decals, I have no bumper stickers, I
have no magnets.

Speaker 5 (21:59):
Nokia is a new one, doesn't even have your VT logo.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Yeah, I just haven't really gotten around to it, and
I don't really want to for now.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Maybe I changed my mind.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
But I walk down to the truck today and there
is a big yellow and red magnet on my bumper
that reads Senior Driver, with a couple of silhouettes of
old fat people and below that says, please be patient,
senior driver, Please be somebody at work slap that on
the back of my truck today. And I can't imagine
it's anybody but marlow but Fitty. I can't prove it, though,

(22:28):
so I don't think he's going to fess up, probably
not for a while. But everybody's pointing to Fitty on
that one. So yeah, I got no problem taking to
swipe at his church league records because right now, yes,
the leader in the clubhouse to have done that is
one hundred percent Josh Fitty Marlowe. Let's see, Lieutenant Rich says,
who cares about the NBA Cup it's meaningless? Signed the
same people that celebrated the Hornet Summer League title.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
Lol.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
I mean, listen, there's no money at stake for the
Summer League. As far as I know, players don't win money.
It doesn't count toward the regular season stand So you
can make the case that, yes, the Summer League is
far less meaningful than to get at least in the
NBA Cup. These players are winning like a half million
dollars and they have the option of raising a banner.
I mean, hell, last night, the Nicks are wearing T
shirts that say champions on them. So, I mean, I

(23:14):
guess we had the same thing for summer league. But
I we joked about hanging a summer league title banner.
I don't think the Hornet should hang a banner for that.
In case you're wondering, you weren't joking, were you? You know,
do you really want them to hang a summer league
title banner?

Speaker 4 (23:28):
Put it next to the honeycomb where he honored to Hornets.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
So so not hang it.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
Just put it somewhere else inside the building where it's
kind of visible.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
Think ding ding ding baby, Let's go.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Kareem says All Star Game MVPs in the NBA, completely meaningful, meaningless.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
Hey hang you hang on that?

Speaker 5 (23:46):
That's that takes away one of the ten biggest moments
in Hornet's history.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
So I can't say that. Uh Lynn Rice ninety seven.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
Yeah, okay, fair, let's see all things Carolina and several
others saying that the Heisman Trophy is me I can't
agree with that. I cannot agree with that. That's the
problem when you only give it to one or two positions. Well,
if that's your gripe, that's fair. That's a fair gripe.
But I still can't tell you that I think the
Heisman Trophy is meaningless, because that, to me, is still
a meaningful, meaningful trophy. Seven oh four number saying I

(24:15):
got to go with the civil conflict trophy between Yukon
and UCF. Yukon coach Diaco tried to start a rivalry
with UCF and had a trophy made. When UCF won
the game, they left the trophy on the field and
did not acknowledge it at all.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Been from Renroe.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
That is truly one of the low key, funniest moments
in college football history because we all scoffed and laughed
at the civil conflict trophy.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
Now, I got to be honest.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
My first, when I first started reading that text, I
thought it was someone like substituting civil conflict for civil war.
And I was going to go off on this tangent
about how we're suddenly afraid of words in twenty twenty five,
like how we had to rename the Red River Shootout
to the Red River Rivalry, which I won't participate in.
But he's right to bring up the actual civil conflict
trophy between Yukon and UCF. A few more of these

(25:01):
coming in here. Oh the n I T nine eight
zero numbers saying the n I T is the most
meaningless accolade in sports.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
It didn't used to be, That's the thing. The n
I T didn't used to be.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
But ever since they started expanding in seventy five, it's
lost its luster.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Yep, yep.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Absolutely, that's just so many youngest and I'm one of them.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
Like I didn't. I think I was.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
I mean, I was alive when the n I T
still meant more, but I was I was not alive
when the n I T was on the same level
of stature as the NCAA tournament.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
Once they went to sixty four, I think that's when
it really just ended.

Speaker 4 (25:33):
The n I T.

Speaker 5 (25:34):
Yeah, and it's lower because you know, my dad, he
talked about it as a kid.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
When I was a kid. I was like, that's c
n I T.

Speaker 5 (25:41):
It's like he's like, son, that meant just as much,
if not more, than a n c double A tournament
at the time, because you know, you could be the
best team and not even make the tournament because you
lose in the conference championship game by one or two points,
and so you didn't you had some of the better
teams in the niit so on and so forth. And
then once they started allowing more teams to get at

(26:03):
large bids, it took away from d un I and
so on and so forth.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
It was the right decision.

Speaker 5 (26:06):
But yeah, I mean, and plus, the NIT doesn't even
play their title games.

Speaker 4 (26:10):
In New York City anymore.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
Well, so you're not even playing inside the garden and
you're not even getting that many teams to go to
d n I anymore. So that's I think that might
be the leader in the clubhouse is the best option.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
It's a good one. I do have everything.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
I have the sp Awards catching strays, and I have
Pro Bowls really starting to catch strays on the text
line right now.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
Too, dude, Yeah, because I forgot that Drake May was
a Pro bowler last year. Holy crap, I did too, Yeah,
And I was like, wow, look, look I like Drake.
He's a great quarterback, probably going to be an All
Pro at least maybe MVP.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Yeah he was not a Pro bowler last year. Well,
I mean, I don't even know what that means anymore.
When Tyler Huntley made it a couple of years ago,
and you know, all these Pro Bowl replacements for injuries
and things like that. I mean, the only designation that
really matters anymore to these guys is who's an All Pro.
That's it, Like, who is an All Pro? That's the
designation you're looking for.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
Now.

Speaker 5 (27:02):
If you're like a guy that only gets her two
or three Pro Bowls, If you do get that nod,
that's nice, but it doesn't have the same meaning that
it did twenty five years ago. Because it used to
be twenty five years ago. If you went to the
Pro Bowl's like, oh crap, you know, because you get
to go to Hawaii. You know, you get to go
playing a game in the nice sun, get a vacation.
The only person that didn't like going to Hawaii for

(27:24):
the Pro Bowl was Robert Edwards because that's where his
career ended at that Was it a volleyball game? I've well,
that's flag was FLAH football? Yeah, I'm pretty sure was
FLG fooball Okay, Yeah, sorry for some reason I faught
since there in Hawaii it was a volleyball game that
ended his career essentially. But yeah, I mean that used
to mean a lot, but now it's like, don't want
to even go to the game. It's not in Hawaii,

(27:45):
it's in Orlando, and you're not even playing a game
and playing seven on seven flag football. And if you're
an offensive lineman or defensive lignement doesn't really mean that
much because all you're doing doing at flag football is
playing tuggle war.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
That's true, that's true.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Seven oh four numbers says Drake is not an All
Pro Lol Stafford and Allen will be.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
That's not what he said.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
He was pointing out that Drake was a Pro Bowler
last year, thus underscoring what lots of people are texting
in that the Pro Bowl has very little meaning anymore.
Let's see a lot of comeback Player of the Year
catching heat on the text line too. These are good,
These are really good, good stuff You are sitting in.

Speaker 5 (28:21):
When a guy dies and doesn't win it, you know,
kind of defeats the purpose of the award.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Yeah, that's true. That's true. All right, keep setting those
in seven oh four five, seven ninety six ten most
meaningless trophies, titles, and accolades in sports. After the Knicks
win the NBA Cup last night, and the Knicks decide, eah,
we're not hanging that banner. We're not gonna. We know
the Lakers and the Bucks did, but we are not
going to We're not gonna. We're not gonna hang that banner.

(28:50):
Seven o four five seven ninety six ten. Hit us
up with your thoughts on that. We'll talk to. Seth
Greenberg heard about nine minutes about a lot of things
hoops related. Obviously, Carolina running away from ETSU last night
behind a big night from Henry Vasar.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Caleb Wilson was good.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
I mean, it kind of feels like a vintage Roy
Williams team in the sense that they've got a really talented,
you know, dual front court attack with some really talented
guys that play off each other really well. You know,
I do think the rest of that team still has
some catching up to do in certain ways, but good
win for them last night. ETSU is a good team,
not a great team, but they're a good team. And
then on the other side, Duke last night absolutely sleepwalking

(29:29):
through the first half against Lipscomb.

Speaker 5 (29:31):
Oh my god, it looks like a team that was
doing their finals for the whole week and too practice.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
Sixteen turnovers in sixteen minutes last night. I mean, just
was it a three point game at the break?

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (29:41):
And then Duke runs away with it in the second half,
as you would expect them to do. And listen, it's
like the exam time game, where like the semesters winding
down and everybody's trying to get their last bit of
partying in and everybody's focused on getting their tests right
and everybody's looking at going home for Christmas next week.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
So these games can get funky.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
The students aren't there at Cameron Indoor for the most part,
and so you kind of get it. But boy, that
got a little bit dicey in the first half last night.

Speaker 5 (30:04):
And I'll say this too. It what also plays into that,
what were the last three games? They're playing teams like
Michigan State, Arkansas and Florida. So they just went through
this whole entire Gotland, didn't you have a week off?
I mean, I was thinking it too. They're gonna win
this game. What's the problem? They had that same mindset.
Unfortunately it bit them in the butt for the first

(30:25):
part of the first half. They luckily were able to
come back and win because they're Duke and Lipscomb's Lipscomb.
But it's I think, you know, even though they won
that game, I think it's good for the young players
to learn that lesson. It's like anybody can come here
and take it to you. If Lipscomb can do it,
anyone in that in the conference can do it to
you too. Oh yeah, So I think that that actually

(30:47):
was a good lesson to learn.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
And luckily they were able to bounce back and win
the game.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Yeah, John Shy were able to get win one hundred,
which is still just incredible.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Like, I'm not a Duke fan, but the.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
Fact that guy's already got one hundred career wins is
something else. And he's no, we're close to a gray hair.
So he's going to be at this for a very
very long time. We'll talk about it with John Shire
coming up to John Shire, with Seth Greenberg coming up.
He's not next. Seth Greenberg is coming up next. Right now,
we go to smoke on the headlines.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Who is smoke? Where is smoke? Where there's smoke, there's fire.

Speaker 4 (31:18):
Let's go what you got? All right?

Speaker 5 (31:20):
Well, the biggest news in the NFL today surrounds the
Miami Dolphins, as it's the end of an era. To
a tongue of Iloa is being bitched by head coach
Mike McDaniel for the rest of the year. This is
big for Carolina because the Bucks oppon it next week
is the Miami Dolphins, and the big story isn't is Also,

(31:41):
it's not going to be Zach Wilson starting at quarterback.
It's going to be rookie seventh round pick Quinn Years
years ten years starting for the Dolphins this Sunday against
the Cincinnati Bengals. So it feels like, as long as
Quinn doesn't get hurt, he'll be the quarterback the rest
of the way. And to a tongue Ailoa, his days

(32:02):
in Miami seemed numbered.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
Which is crazy because they were just red hot as
a team. I'm not saying, I'm not saying they're wrong
to move on from him. I just it's just crazy
that they charged back into the AFC playoff race before
being eliminated the other night, and they're just done with him,
and they're skipping over Zach Wilson, who was officially two
on the depth chart and going right to quinn yours.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
Let's you know, how does he look?

Speaker 6 (32:25):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (32:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (32:25):
It does kind of irritate me though, that they basically
let tamp off the hook week after next.

Speaker 5 (32:29):
Yeah, and I also think that shows you how much
people hate too in that locker room.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Buddy, let me.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Tell, do you think he starts anywhere next year? Because
I don't know if that will.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
Someone will You.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
Think someone will make him their starting quarterback next year.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
But I wouldn't be that guy. Hell no, it's.

Speaker 5 (32:43):
A game of chicken to see who would be the
first one to bite.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
When he walked off the field smiling after that game
the other night, a lot of people, I mean, he
that was it for a lot of people.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
You gotta take a break.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
Seth Greenberg coming up next, Sports Radio ninety two to
seven wf and Z. Sports Radio ninety two to seven

(33:14):
wfn Z. Good to be with you, Queen City. Hope
you're having a good time. We got a loaded show
coming your way five o'clock. Two time pro bowler SEC
Network analyst, our buddy Roman Harper is back at five.
We'll talk all things playoff and we'll get his thoughts
on the Carolina Panthers, who with a win Sunday, will
increase their playoff odds to forty five percent. If they lose,
it drops to five percent. Some people don't care about that.

(33:35):
The bottom line is three weeks at two matchups against
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to decide who wins this division.
We'll talk to Rome at five. Speaking of Rick Stroud
of the Tampa Bay Times is back at four twenty five.
He spent a couple of decades covering all things Tampa
Bay football, so make sure to stick around for that
as well.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
But we got to talk some hoops right now.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
Carolina and Duke both taking care of business last night,
albeit in different ways. We got to talk about our
rookie phenom here with the Hornets, Conk Nipple, and we
do it with a good friend of the show in
longtime ESPN college basketball analyst. You catch him on college
game day. He also happens to be two time ACC
Coach of the Year. Our friend Seth Greenberg hanging out
with us here on a Wednesday. Coach, how you been man?

(34:15):
I appreciate the time any better.

Speaker 6 (34:17):
I couldn't stand myself just sitting here watching ball on
you know what's going to happen in the next few days.
It's been a great preseason. I've never really ask your
college basketball. The non conference season has been great. The
matchups have been great each and every night. College basketball
never disappoints.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
It's been tremendous. I agree with you, but you'll have
to forgive me. I'll get back to college hoops in
a second, because here in Charlotte we have been amazed
by Conk Nipple here during his rookie season. I told
you yesterday I wanted to get your thoughts on this.
He's got seven games of twenty five points plus. I
believe that's more than every other rookie combined to this
stage in the season. I think he would be the
NBA's Rookie of the Year if the season stopped today.

(34:56):
I don't honestly recall what your exact opinion of him
was as a prospect coming out of the but what
did you think of him as a prospect, and what
do you think about what we've seen so far.

Speaker 6 (35:05):
I loved him as a prospect, A physical body, a
lead three point shooter, high basketball. Iq Uh has a
feel for the game, ces plays early competitive. It's interesting
because I was at his first Summer League game and
I'm not sure he scored in that game, and I
remember looking across at his family and they were like worried,

(35:25):
and I was trying. I felt like walking over ago
like this is this is just the very beginning stages.
He's going to be fine. He is who he is.
He's going to make shots, He's going to make the
right play. He's competitive, he's physical, he's strong, he makes
the game easier, he's easy to play with, and then
you know, the next game he dropped like thirty. Uh.
He's a terrific basketball player, and you know, he just

(35:48):
has a great steal for the game and being easy
to play with is something that is really really important. Uh.
You know, he can You can put him in a
lot of different situations and he impacts winning real quick.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
I mean, I think it's he and Steph Curry the
only players in the NBA with eighty plus threes on
forty percent or better shooting right now. We know he
can shoot it, but he's scoring from multiple levels. He's
distributing the ball pretty well. I'm not saying he's a
finished product by any stretch of the imagination, but is
there an area of his game that you think has
been the most surprising as it relates to acclimating to
the NBA rapidly.

Speaker 6 (36:22):
You know, I think he was an underrated defender. Yeah,
I think he's a fairly physical defender. He's not, for
sure a very position a good positional defender. So that
was probably peoples wet how we have to hide him defensively.
I'm not sure you have to hide him defensively. You know,
he's hard to screen, which is the biggest thing in
that league. You know, you put him on an island,

(36:42):
you probably he's probably not going to get a stop.
But who gets a stop when you put on an island.
But in terms of being a connected defender, being an
active and alert defender, being a guy that has a
feel for being in the right spot, being good off
the ball, he's very good. So I just think he's
physically mature, he's emotionally mature. He's competitive. It's much more

(37:07):
than just his shot making. It's his IQ and his
ability to play and be successful as part of the
good of the group. And I think that's the thing
that John prepared him for. And I also think that's
kind of the essence of who he is as a
person and a player.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
All right, let's talk some college hoops.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
Carolina last night beats East Tennessee State by nineteen etsu
is a good basketball team. Carolina ends up running away
massive night from Henry Vasar, a great night from Caleb
Wilson as well. This you know this as well as anybody.
Roy's best teams had loaded front courts, guys that could
do a lot of things.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
They seem to have that this year.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
What do you think of the way those two guys
have changed the complexion of Carolina basketball from last year
to this year. And it's a totality, you know, how
much more work do they have to do? They're ten
and one, they're a good team, but you know it's
more than just that at Carolina, of course.

Speaker 6 (37:57):
Yeah, they're back to the future. The best ways for
meeting Discar. They're back to the future. They look like
Carolina team and they got athleticism, you know, in the
front corner Wilson, they've got a dominant guy that has
versatility in base are you see developing players across the board.
When they get set Trimble back, they'll have one more
dog to add to the lineup. Who you know, he's

(38:18):
the only you know, rotation player that's basically back with him,
and he's got incredible leadership skills. You can defend multiple positions,
you can make enough shots, you can get to the rim.
But while he's been out, You've seen the development of
a Derek Dixon who's now getting more confidence. So when
he comes back, he's coming back to and I said

(38:38):
this the same thing about Darren Peterson. He's coming back
to a more mature, confident team. So, you know, I
like their right lineup. I'd like just Stevenson give him
a little bit more consistency. I think that's very important.
But I like their basketball team. I think they remind
me a lot of you know, old school Carolina teams.

(39:00):
You know, their quick pat back in the transition. They
can play high low basketball, they can play in the
half court, they have enough shot makers around the floor,
and they're going to have depth when Trimple comes back.
So I really like their team.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
Duke also last night, slow start, really sleepy against lips
gumb There are probably a lot of reasons for that.
Sixteen turnovers in sixteen minutes to start the game certainly
didn't look great. They were only up three at the halftime,
but man, they really turned things on in the second
half and looked more like the Duke team that we've expected.
You know, that team, of course last year fell short
of a title. This so this team so far this

(39:35):
year has knocked off one heavyweight after the other. What
do we think of Duke to this stage just in
terms of title contention, you know, overall talent, you know
the makeup of this team.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
What's been your opinion?

Speaker 6 (39:48):
I don't like their team, you know, I like what
John's been able to do. Look last yesterday, coming out
of finals, you know, all the students are leaving. It's
a totally Those games are tough and let's go plays
the style of basket all they're making shots. Uh, you
know they're dangerous and they you know, do help them
with turnovers. Well, they've got to get consistent point guard play.
They get consistent point guard play, play starters play making

(40:10):
enough scoring or shot you know, shot threat out of
the point guard. You know, they think about the sub game.
Good point guard play. Calm Foster also he made those two,
you know, those two big plays to think about the
Missigan State game, Kellum Foster ball goes in and relocates
bullot Ball goes back out then and that's down to three.
So look, I liked I like their roster. Uh, Cam

(40:32):
has didn't vomiting. Uh. You know, Patrick's gotten better. You
see his growth which is is really important. I think
that Jihn's trying to figure out the pieces in terms
of lineups. He not only that he wants to play,
but that he can't play together. And that's what happens
when you're playing eight to nine guys. You got to

(40:53):
be very careful of subbing into lineups that maybe just
don't work. Now, Imania is gonna be a good player.
I think he's probably the one that taken the longest
time for the light bulb to go on. But I
think he's a competitive guy that can make shots. And
I think Peyden is going to be really important to
him because he's a little bit different. He's more of
a pure point guard than anyone else they have. But

(41:16):
the best two teams have always had a couple of
veterans that basically understand what two basketball is all about.
And I think they got that in Caleb Foster, and
I think they got that in MIKEL Brown. So I
like again another I like their team. Do they have flaws?
Everyone has flaws. Do they need to get better? Sure
on it, But we didn't need to get better. Why
does it just cancel the season right now? I mean,

(41:38):
you know, when school's out you're in the lab. I mean,
these kids live in the gym anyway. But the job
John's done, you know, to me, his leadership is incredibly underappreciated,
incredibly Like his ability to go handle a tough situation
with poise and focus is is a lesson in leadership.

(42:02):
I'm just so impressed with him.

Speaker 3 (42:05):
Well and see, I agree, And that's where I wanted
to go quickly next because if anybody knows how hard
it is to win in this league, at you you
were the coach of the year in this conference twice.
John gets his one hundredth win, the fastest to ever
do it, topping Vic Bubas you know who did it
back in nineteen sixty four. So I mean, listen, it's duke.
They're expected to win. He took over a monster of
a program. But like, what do you think of how

(42:26):
he took that baton and has done what he's done
at such a young age.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
It's incredibly impressive.

Speaker 6 (42:31):
It's impressive and not surprising. But it's this is John
Schier's basketball program right now. I mean that's the way
it is. I mean, coach case the patriarch of this program.
But in terms of the program, it's in They've got
the core beliefs of old school Duke, but they've got

(42:52):
a different vision. And part of the vision is how
he coaches his team. The poise that he coaches his
teams with, he coaches this guy's really hard, but he
does it in a way that they have total trust
and belief in them. It's it's a different it's a
different approach. It's demanding, for sure, but it's in his

(43:15):
own personality. And that's what you have to do. You've
got to coach in your own personality. I mean, John
Sharp is a great player. He played for the greatest
college coach in the history of the game in my
in mighty era, for sure. But John Shock can't be
coach Kate. There's only one coach, k and you know
what's only going to be one John Shire and John

(43:37):
Shire Wade in which he conducts his business, in the
way he carries himself, the way he coaches his team,
the way he communicates, the way he connects. Uh, he's
got a gift. He's really got a gift.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
Seth Greenberg with us here on a Wednesday, Coach, what
would you say to NC State fans who are feeling
a little bit shaky or concerned after will Wade and
company getting off to a have an enforced start.

Speaker 6 (44:02):
Patience patients, You know, it takes time. The first thing
is acquired talent, then trying to figure out your talent. Uh,
you've got to have some separation in your lineup, you know,
Like I go back to guys trying to play ten
eleven guys. You just can't do it. You try to
keep eleven guys happy, you're gonna have eleven guys upset.
You try to keep eleven guys happy, you're going to

(44:23):
submit to some badlineus. Offensively, defensively, Uh, their system is difficult. Uh.
So you know, because it's instinctive, especially on the defensive end,
You've got to see plays develop early and and you
know that's where I think they've got to continue to
get better. Uh. When I think of Willward's teams, I

(44:44):
think are disruptive. I don't think they've been as disruptive
as they'd like them to be. Offensively, they've got a
lot of different weapons, but figguring out like how do
you use Darrie Williams. I mean, he's really a four
man that you can play at three and create a
matchup problem with you know, Matt so talented, but can
he get up the speed in terms of the defense,
you know, like you know, the copl Kate is like

(45:07):
Will Security blanket in a lot of ways because he
understands exactly what he wants to get done. Uh, you know,
figuring out which big guys are really you know now
and you know he plays five. Yeah, he can do
some things, but he's not you know, they probably have
to eventually get Musa to the point where he can
play legitimate minutes. So, uh, look, he's a good coach

(45:28):
and everyone wants instant results. He's not playing in the
Southland anymore. He's not playing the schedule in the South
Find anymore. He doesn't have to get a team just
typed up for like Clemson in the NCAA tournament. It's
you know, it's each and every game. It's all these
non conference games. You know, you're a big game on
someone's schedule. But I think they'll be fine, And I
think there'll be a team that's gonna probably be in

(45:50):
the answer to a tournament. They're gonna have opportunities with
their schedule. Uh. In terms of the league's gonna give
him more opportunities and they're gonna have to windows games.
You got to you gotta win games again against the field,
and you surely can't lose any games from the bottom
of the conference that you know, the bottom of the
conference has not helped itself, but there is a top

(46:12):
to the conference. You know, Virginia's better, Virginia techs better,
Carolina is good, you know, uh, you know, Duke's good.
There's more good teams in the conference. Notre Dame has improved.
There's just more good teams in the conference, which gives
you more opportunities.

Speaker 3 (46:26):
Yeah, well, said Leonardi. I think has eight ACC teams
as in as of this week, but we got a
long way to go.

Speaker 6 (46:31):
Well that's the fact that I'm not gonna argue with Joe.
I mean, if on this thing he says you're in,
well bet put your head on that pillow. You should
slip really.

Speaker 3 (46:39):
Well, there you go, coach, always enjoyed man. Thank you
so much for the time. Happy holidays to you and yours.

Speaker 6 (46:45):
Thanks to you guys, thank you for having me.
