Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Kyle Bailey Show, powered by Victory Chevy Charlotte,
where every month is truck Month. Victory Chevy Charlotte your
Silverado destination.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Guess who just showed up here at wfn z's Platform
Monday Night Party. My guy, mind Yours QC is in
the house.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Man.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
We already got listeners showing up here a couple of
hours ahead of kickoff tonight on Monday Night football.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Man.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
I love meeting listeners. We've got so many of them
stop by at this location. Especially. I got to meet
my guy, the bagel guy out here, who's your Bobby
is a regular at these events. Mind Yours QC. My
dude just walked up there a minute ago. Great to
meet him. We have so many listeners that are planning
to come out tonight here. It's a platform sport and hope,
(01:01):
hope that you're one of them. Come on out, man,
grab a seat, grab a booth. I mean it's a
Vegas style sports bar and you can grab a booth.
And I'm telling you, we got a wall of screens here.
I want to make sure I get the dimensions close
to right. I would guess that this wall of TV's
it's about fifty feet long by twelve feet tall, and
(01:22):
you got three let's say I'm doing the math here,
Da da da da da. You got three big screens
across the bottom that are about sixteen feet by eight feet,
and then above that one, two, three, four, five, six
additional screens all about whatever the math is left on that.
It's just a massive wall of TV's. I can't do
that much math all at one time, but it's a
(01:44):
great spot to watch a game.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
I hope you get out here and hang out with us.
We've done this before. Panthers Giants in Germany last year
was an absolute smash hit party on a Sunday morning.
So Monday night has the potential to be awesome. Platform
sports on South Boulevard here in South End. Come on
out to see us. Now is a great time to
get a phone call in. We do have countdown to
kickoff coming up in fifty five minutes. Top of the hour.
(02:06):
McClain is on his way. Mac is driving. He was listening.
He has sent some threatening text messages to Fiddy to
about content Fitddy is dancing on the graves of NC
State fans today following a loss to the Seaton Hall
in the Maui Invitational. So Mac is on his way
six o'clock countdown to kickoff six to eight. We hope
to see you there for that and Paul being Cardi
(02:27):
back in twenty minutes to talk some hoops. Right now,
we talk some football and coming off the great debate
over Jorden Hare Stadium, let's go to War Eagle Chris
online too, War Eagle Chris. What you got for me?
Speaker 5 (02:40):
Yes, sir, I haven't talked to you in a while, anyway,
I was. I don't know if you remember. It's been
about fifteen when Bobby Bowden was FSU's head coach. Miami
beat them head to head, but it lost to UCLA
or Cal earlier that year, and at the end of
(03:01):
the year they were both one loss and the computer
gave it to Florida State. And I think that was
Bobby Bouten's first national championship. But yeah, it does happen.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
It has happened. But I think you also just laid
it out different time, different era. We were letting computers
decide two teams for a national championship. Right now we
have twelve spots.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Hi, yes, sir, yes, sir, A bud nothing to hear from.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Hey, you too, Chris always get hey, Wait you didn't
weigh in?
Speaker 6 (03:29):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (03:29):
It's Jorden Hair Stadium right. Oh, it's all good smoke
hung up on him. So I guess we'll never know
what Chris thinks about that. By the way, we do
have tickets to give away Charlotte Hornets tickets. I want
to make sure we get that into Hornets and Knicks
at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night. Text the word cup,
c up and only the word cup to the FanDuel
text line to get into where to win a pair
(03:52):
of tickets to Hornets and Knicks from the Spectrum Center
Wednesday night, Thanksgiving Eve. You have until five point thirty
to get in, get registered to win. Text the word cup,
cup to the FanDuel text line only the word cup
to get in to win and give you to give
yourself a chance to win a couple of free tickets
to watch the Hornets and the Knicks. And again. Now's
a great time to get a phone call in. I
(04:12):
need Panthers fans calling their shot, right. I realized that
it's a big night. Everybody's a little bit nervous. But
it's Monday night, Panthers forty nine ers a chance to
take over the top spot in the NFC South. Who's
gonna call in and call their shot? I bet you
DVR Dave will DVR. Dave is up next on the phones, Dave,
what's going on?
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Well, you know, what are you gonna give me to
take those Hornets ticket?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Nothing? Nothing at all?
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Oh gosh, you want to call a shot. Let me
think for a second. I'm gonna say Rico gets one
hundred and twenty yards and two touchdowns and the Panthers.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
In oh.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Twenty for twenty.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Okay, well, don't quote you. That was awfully specific. Not
to quote you.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
I mean, that's my wishful thinking. You know, I curious
this Monday night game. It was not flexed. It was
actually scheduled, wasn't it.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Yep?
Speaker 3 (05:07):
So they didn't flex it because this was getting funny.
Is it even possible to flex to a Monday mon
game at all? I didn't think it was. Now my
real question is this, if we don't win, I mean,
let's not you know, I don't want to jinx anything,
but if the score is not in our favor but
it's close, are we as upset as we would be
(05:27):
as if it we got blown out by Buffalo or
we're just glad we played competitively.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
I hate phrasing it like that because I I don't
like moral victories. If I'm being really if I'm being realistic, though,
this is still a young team. It's figuring itself out,
going on the road to a tough place to play
on a Monday night with the bright spotlight. So if
they if they go up there and lose on a
walk off field goal and you know, you fall back
(05:55):
to a half game behind Tampa, now you could live
with that because then you know, hey, these last this
division will come down in the final three weeks.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
All right, what's that You still got three conference games
to play.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
That's right, Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
That's that. Wouldn't that wouldn't upset me all that? I mean,
I don't. I mean, I don't want to be talking
about that at.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
The end of the night.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
I want to be screaming bloody murder at the end
of the night. Etstatic. So all right, man, fingers crossed, Yeah,
watch the text after the game.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
We'll see, We'll see. Thank you, buddy, DVR Dave checking in,
all right, phone lines filling up here. We've got some
folks that want to call their shot. I love it.
Let's go to future redemption online to future redemption. Call
your shot. What do you think about tonight?
Speaker 3 (06:33):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (06:35):
You know, hoping for the best tonight?
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Uh, maybe for you, but I'm bang bang Niner games.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Oh come on.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Sorry about it?
Speaker 7 (06:45):
So what do you think thirty.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
H DMC anytime touchdown, George Kittle anytime touchdown, covering the
minus seven and a half as well.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Those first two Yeah, yeah, I mean Kiddle especially probably both. Honestly,
you know, I can't imagine the Panthers are, you know,
holding the Niners offense to under twenty one points. So
if they're scoring, yeah, those are your best two options.
But you're you're you're that confident that the Niners cover
seven and a half.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I mean, I'm not saying I'm It's obviously a lot
of Homerism in there, and our defense right now is
just I'm banking on some turnovers. I'm banking on Robert
Sala and Kyle Shanahan just being the better play callers,
the better coaches, the more experienced in the home field.
That's all. I'm not sitting here being like all yeah,
poking my chest out or anything, you know what I mean?
(07:36):
So sure, anybody good luck tonight, guys.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah you too. I appreciate the phone call. Future redemption.
The only thing that will truly upset me and let
me down as if they know show tonight, if Carolina
no shows and they just get taken to the woodshed.
And I think most people probably feel that way. You know,
I don't want to start making excuses for a loss
ahead of time, so I certainly won't do that. You
could live with a a tight, competitive loss on the
road to a well coached football team. That's what. The
(08:01):
only thing San Francisco hasn't done under Kyle Shanahan is
win a title. That's it. They've done damn near everything else.
He's the best offensive coach in football. You expect they'll
put up points out tonight. You know, if e J. A.
Varro's or if Azero Varro's defense can hold San Francisco,
I would say to under twenty four points in this game, smoke,
that's a win. That's a big win for this defense.
(08:22):
You hold them to under twenty four points, you should
have a chance to win it, especially if your linebackers out.
If you can hold them twenty four. I mean you
almost saying, well, that means just a.
Speaker 8 (08:30):
One, right, you know, very possible at this point, especially
when you look at their injuries on the defense, in
the back end of the defense. So you gotta remember too,
one of their best defensive drushers is now here in Gibson. Yeah,
they claimed them off waivers in a lot of Niners
fans about a month ago were like, Dad, Gummett, really, why.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Do they have them on the practice squad? Oh? Trevis?
Is he the only Trevis? You know? By the way,
you ever heard of another Trevis out there? Probably not.
I don't think I have it. Just funny.
Speaker 8 (08:58):
It's just funny that on this defense you have a
Trevis and a Trevin.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
That is funny. That is funny. Back to the phone lines,
Rod is online? Three Rod, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Buddy KD?
Speaker 9 (09:08):
What's happening? Hey, I'm calling my shot man Young and McMillan,
Young and mc millan. That's what we gonna here all night?
Them callie boys. I think go out there. They're feeling
good back home, and I think they show out. I
think we definitely, I we're gonna win this game. I
don't I can't really pick a score. I don't I
(09:30):
can't put a score on it. But I just feel
like Bryce Young and Tech gonna really go out there
and show out. And dude, we're gonna make the playoffs.
I'll really see us the Rams. Look, the Rams are
a great team. But your boy KD Dereck Brown, the
guy who I wanted Michael Parsons for, I gotta I
gotta eat my crow, the guy I wanted Michael Park.
(09:52):
And look what the Cowboys did. They didn't go out
and get another pass rushing. No, they went out and
got Quinn Williams. Another inter lineman Caveno that this webson
can even diswept the pass game without sacks Man. So
I really think Greg Brown is our guy, that's our key,
and I think we I'm not gonna say we shut
(10:14):
them down. I don't. I don't think CMC goes off.
I don't think CMC goes off.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
I think he.
Speaker 9 (10:19):
Goes into a shale. Tonight, we sat down the Star
and uh we come out on top.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Man, good call, Thank you, Rod, appreciate the phone call.
So I wonder does Dave Canalis come out throwing the
ball tonight, like does he come out chucking the ball
around the yard, or does he come out hell bent
and intent on establishing the run with Rico Doblin Chewba Hubbard, who,
by the way, let's remember Chewba Hubbard. Finally, to me,
looks physically more like Chewba Hubbard. And you know, I
(10:46):
think we we knew he was playing injured, probably came
back a bit prematurely. That's that's been confirmed by Cuba.
He looks like Cuba again healthy and San Francisco is
about middle of the pack and rushing yards allowed per game,
they're fourteenth in the NFL. I believe it around one
hundred and three hundred and four yards per game. Now,
they've been better as of late, last five games, only
(11:08):
allowing ninety three yards per game. But interestingly, on the
road they're only giving up night well, I guess, only
ninety nine points six yards per game. They're giving up
a buck eleven on the ground at home so far
this season. It's interesting, right, and it probably would have
been more of James Connor didn't get hurt in that game. Yea.
It's a great point, absolutely all right, Back to the
phone lines, Dakota is up for up next on line one, Dakota,
(11:30):
what's going on there?
Speaker 3 (11:31):
What's going on?
Speaker 10 (11:31):
Man?
Speaker 2 (11:31):
How you doing good?
Speaker 4 (11:33):
All right?
Speaker 10 (11:34):
So I think CMC goes off tonight saying that.
Speaker 9 (11:38):
I think XEL goes off for us.
Speaker 10 (11:40):
I think we're chucking the ball down the field tonight.
We go out guns blazing.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Right out of the gate. I do think if we
keep it close.
Speaker 6 (11:46):
By half, I say Panthers twenty four nine, ers twenty one.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
That's my take on it.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
All right, upset win twenty four to twenty one, Carolina,
all right, I love it. Thank you for the phone call, Dakota.
I'm I want to believe this Pan defense can hold
the San fran offense to twenty one points. I really
want to believe that. And I think if the starting
linebackers were out there, I could be talked into that.
I just don't know if I can be talked into that,
given your starting linebackers are gonna be claude and chair listen,
(12:13):
Uh what Chris Barnes Tonight' smoke? I mean that's something
that that's I just have a hard time with that
because I think George Kittle is probably gonna rip off
a couple of big plays, probably gonna catch a goal
line or a red zone touchdown. I think Christian McCaffrey,
whether it's on the ground or through the air, might
more likely be on or through the air Tonight day,
McCaffrey's gonna be motivated, so I think he probably has
(12:36):
a really solid game. But I also think Carolina's offense
should be able to keep pace. So that's why, you know,
I do look for San Francisco's offense to probably score
in the twenty seven to twenty eight range. Hope I'm wrong.
Something tells me that Carolina likely has to score twenty
eight to thirty points if they're gonna win this game.
Seven oh four, five, seven oh ninety six to ten
up next on the phone lines, let's go to Catamount.
(12:58):
Chris online too, Chris, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (13:01):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (13:01):
KB, I totally agree, man, I feel like, uh, the
Panthers have to put thirty plus points on the board.
You know, our linebackers are going to be struggling a
little bit, But I believe in that e JD sense
that then don't break mentality. I really see us putting
up thirty plus with the uh, the fact that they
(13:23):
can't pack the box. We're gonna throw the ball around.
Bryce is gonna get everybody involved tonight. My prediction thirty
five twenty seven Panthers thirty five.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Oh god, that sounds like a wonderful time. Yes, give me,
I'll take that win. Thirty five twenty seven Panthers all day.
Thank you. Chris. Enjoyed the game tonight, Yeah, thirty five
twenty seven sounds like a whale of a good time
to me. Uh seven O four five seven ninety six ten,
let's go to Andrew online one. Andrew, what's on your mind?
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Hey, KB, thanks for taking my call. Just I'm really
excited about the game.
Speaker 10 (13:55):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Last time I caught in Bright and the Panthers had
stricked up my daughter's first ever answers experience when we
went to the game and loss for the state and
then Brastin's round and throws for the franchise record the
very next week. So those two things, for me cancel
each other out. You ruin my daughter's experience, throw for
the franchise record. They go, if you win this game, man,
all this forgiven, all this forgiven, we're on a roll.
Speaker 11 (14:16):
Let's throw to the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
I'm gonna say we win on a walk off. The
old golf. Let's let us kick or keep this happy
ride going for us?
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Man, Oh, I love to say. I love the sound
of that. As a fellow girl, Dad, do you let
the How late do you let your daughter stay up tonight?
How old is she?
Speaker 4 (14:31):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (14:31):
That's okay? Smoke accidentally knocked him off the line. Smoke,
damn you, it's okay. Text me like, how old your daughter?
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Like?
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Do you let her stay up for the entirety of
this game tonight? On a school night? I don't even
know what the CMFs schedule is this week. By the way,
I'm assuming they're going to school tomorrow. It usually is
tomorrow and then Wednesday Thursday. Yeah, that's true. All right,
Jared is online. Three Jared, what's on your mind? How
do you feel about the game tonight?
Speaker 12 (14:52):
Well, first off, let me answer the question about whether
it's Gorden hair or Jordan's hair from an Auburn guy.
It is Jorden, thanks Ralph Schiff. Jorden from nineteen fifties era,
you know, one of the top two greatest coaches in
Auburn football history, him and Pat Die. And then for
my prediction tonight, I'm gonna say that it's gonna come
down to whoever has the ball last. And I think
(15:14):
that if the Panthers can maintain that ball for the
final possession and they can pick a game winning field goal,
thirty four to thirty.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
One, thirty fourth, y'are getting me hyped. I hope this
comes to fruition.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Now.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
I don't love the idea, as I'm sure you don't either,
of giving up thirty points plus defensively, but if the
offense could go win a shootout, I mean, I'm I'm
sign me up for that all night long.
Speaker 12 (15:35):
I've got to speak it into existence, Kyle, to make
myself believe. So that's what we're doing here.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Oh it's fantastic, Thank you, buddy, appreciate the phone call.
Next up, we have Rob up in our nation's capital.
Rob and DC is up next Rob, what's going on? Brother?
Speaker 10 (15:49):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (15:50):
How you doing?
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Kyle doing well? What's your prediction?
Speaker 11 (15:53):
We're in California going to the game. We're about thirty
minutes out.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Ooo, let's go. What's it like out there? How bad
is traffic?
Speaker 11 (16:00):
Traffic ain't so bad right now, but we're predicting twenty
eight to twenty four. Rico goes beast mode. And we
got two tuddies.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
For Bride Rico beast Mode, two tutties for Bryce. So
twenty eight, twenty four, we're thinking two passing touchdowns for
Bryce and two rushing touchdowns for Rico? Is that right?
Speaker 10 (16:19):
You got it?
Speaker 3 (16:19):
You got it?
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Oh dude, I need you to bring the mojo tonight. Rob,
get loud, be crazy, and hey, do me a favor
if you can, if you survive it, give us a
call tomorrow, let us know how it is.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Wait, well, wait, will all right?
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Brother? Safe? Travels have fun tonight, Rob Rob in DC
joining us from traffic in the Bay on the way
to the game. Last call, real quick, Matt, and Greensbro
gets in, Matt, what's on your mind? What do you
think about tonight?
Speaker 10 (16:42):
Hey guys, First of all, fifty settled down kill football seat.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
His head sets off right now, Mack, Matt, Matt, Matt.
He took his headset off so he doesn't have to
hear from people like you because he's he's a coward,
and so he's not listening right now. So I oh,
now he wants to put his headset on. You want to, Matt,
He's putting it on. Let's get turn your bike ups.
You can respond to Matt from Greensboro real quick. Matt
from Greensborough just told you to settle down about n
C State, all right? Why you just lost to a
(17:07):
team ranked two hundred and eleventh in the net.
Speaker 8 (17:09):
My man, all that talk, all that I mean jibber
jabber that you all got hired a better coach, better
than Hubert Davison.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
We're on the same playing level. You lost to a
team from a power conference ring two hundred and eleventh
in the net. My man, just sit down and take
this l and all the trolling I'm gonna give you
tomorrow from six to ten am. All right, there, he
got his word in. Matt mcflor is yours go ahead?
Speaker 3 (17:33):
All right?
Speaker 11 (17:34):
The game tonight.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
I love the Panthers.
Speaker 7 (17:37):
My heart says they're sticking win. But I do worry
about coaching.
Speaker 6 (17:42):
Batch Up and Shanahan and Taulas having thinks avantage over
our guys as a fount, and.
Speaker 7 (17:50):
The in game coaching decisions. Some of those that huck
talents and State have been very questionable.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Haven't hear us?
Speaker 3 (17:55):
Heard us last week? But that was against the bad
bout seat.
Speaker 11 (17:58):
So I will say this hammer the over on Bryce.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Pastyard, tad E, Max Stevie.
Speaker 10 (18:05):
I think Bryce does enough to keep us close.
Speaker 7 (18:07):
I think supported that.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Twenty seven Niners thirty one, twenty seven. All right, Matt,
thank you brother, appreciate the phone call. Enjoy the game tonight.
We are live from Platform Sports in South End. This
is the place to be to watch the game tonight.
Do we got Jersey Mike in the house. We do,
That's what I thought. We got Jersey Mike. We got
Senior in the house tonight. This man is I mean,
just impeccably dressed in the three piece suit with the
(18:30):
bow tide tonight looking incredible. Over there. We got WD
and OIB in the house. We got mind yours QC
stopping by already. This place is gonna fill up quickly.
Get to Platform Sports in South End on South Boulevard.
We got countdown to kickoff starting in thirty eight minutes.
Mack is on his way. He may already be here
looking for parking and he's going to join me at
six o'clock for two hours of Panthers pregame six to
(18:52):
eight tonight right here at Platform. When we come back,
we take a little break from the football for a
couple of minutes, we talk a little round ball with
Paul B and Cardi of ESPN, our usual typical Monday conversation.
Next Sports Radio ninety two seven WF and Z. We
(19:19):
got Paul B and Cardi coming up here in this
segment and Smoke doing his job back in the Chandler
Volta WF and Z studio said Hey, just so you know,
we got Paul on the line. And I said, oh,
we got Paul, and he said, no, no different Paul.
So now I got to how do we do it
for PAULI? Buckets Paul? How do I? How do I
do the I don't know because I feel like I'm
going to butcher it. Let me tell you my wife,
a native New Englander, absolutely despises when I try to
(19:41):
pull off a New England accent, like I think she
sometimes I think she might want to divorce me when
I try it. But uh, I mean Paul, Paul Finebaum
gets Paul. If any you want to give it a shot,
you want to give us the Paul B and Carti
version of Paul. He's a coach, so I would like
to be like Paul, Oh God, all right, turn your
mike down one of the nicest people in the business.
(20:03):
One of the great basketball minds of our generation, ESPN
National recruiting director, college basketball analyst, and former Horizon League
Coach of the Year. Our friend Paul being Cardi back
with us for his weekly Monday conversation. Paul, we are.
We're glad to have you, brother. How are thanks?
Speaker 10 (20:19):
Things are great, man, I've never had so many people
talk about.
Speaker 7 (20:23):
My first name like that.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
Yeah, but you get it, like, you know, Paul Finebaum,
Southern cultural icon. We got a Paul, but like we're
trying to come up with a New England, Northern version
of that. So I'm sorry if you're offended. We just
you know, we're kind of silly around.
Speaker 10 (20:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
No, it was great. It was great.
Speaker 10 (20:39):
We'll come up with.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Something, all right, We'll get there. Are you listen? You're
a hoopet. I know you're a junkie. You're always watching roundball.
Any part of you interested in Panthers and forty nine
ers on Monday Night football tonight?
Speaker 10 (20:53):
You know, I haven't looked at it, but I'm hoping
the Panthers are going to win. I haven't been following women.
I have been following my page back. Yeah, Mike, Brabril
has got him back, Drake May. Yeah, so I'm going
for the Panthers tonight because I'm a Homer when it
comes to local sports.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Okay, we appreciate that. And you know what, I'm so
happy for you and Patriots Nation. I mean, it's for
an organization that went through such tough times for such
a long time to you know, have had to suffer
through the last couple of years. You know, something good
finally happening to the Patriots. I mean, it's it's been
so long. But anyway, I digress. Let's start. Let's start
with recent happenings. How about Seaton Hall knocking off Will
(21:31):
Wade in NC State earlier this afternoon out at the
Maui Classic. What are your thoughts on that loss? I
mean two eleven in the net rankings or net ratings.
Rather Seaton Hall gets to win.
Speaker 7 (21:42):
Yes, I mean that's.
Speaker 10 (21:43):
The first time this season that a ranked opponent lost
to an unranked opponent. Yeah, but when you look at it,
Seaton Hall being in the Big East and NC State
being in the ACC is not a lot difference even
though NC State was ranked. Look, Seaton Hall is coached
(22:04):
by Shaheen Halloway. I recruited Shaheen Halloway when he was
in high school. His team played just like his personality
Kyle aggressive, tough, scrappy, and they were the more aggressive
team today against NC State. NC State looked like they weren't.
I don't mean they weren't ready to play, but it
seemed like they were a step slow. They didn't have
(22:27):
that tenacity that Will Wade's teams normally do and that
they've had this year, so they took a little step back.
No reason for concern. There's more games to play here
in Maui, and you learn a lot about yourself in
Mauwi because you have to play back to back to back.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Okay, so you think no reason to be alarmed if
you're an NC State fan.
Speaker 10 (22:48):
No, not at all, And to be perfectly frank, I
don't know if they're really the twenty third team in
the country. I think that's an early ranking based on
maybe some other teams not playing so well early and
them playing pretty well. They've got a really nice roster.
I don't know if they're a ranked team. I mean,
he's got him there because he's so good at what
he does. But that wasn't an upset.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
In my eyes today.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
Okay, all right, fair enough. Not a ton of let's say,
high profile results for Carolina. The last couple of times
out they did struggle a little bit against Navy Seth
Tremble apparently calling a player's only meeting, which isn't a
bad thing, obviously, But after beating Kansas, they've knocked off Radford,
North Carolina Central and afore mentioned Navy there a second ago,
(23:33):
they got Saint Bonnie's tomorrow night before that big showdown
with Michigan State on Thanksgiving. What are your thoughts early
on about the way that Carolina has gotten off to
this start.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
I really like what.
Speaker 10 (23:43):
Hubert Davis is doing because he is so locked into
his team and nothing more, meaning that he keeps focused
not so much on the pressure of coaching at North
Carolina on what other people's expectations are. He just focused
on how his team can incrementally get better as the
season goes on. He's got a great roster, he's got
(24:05):
more size than he's ever had in the last couple
of years. Got a stun with Caleb Wilson that Trimble.
You talked about it calling a player's only meeting, you know,
what that shows me there's leadership on this team that
has been around. So I like what he's doing. I
like where they're going. There'll be some ups and downs,
but they're a top three team inside the ACC this year,
(24:28):
and I think they're going to finish somewhere in the
top twenty this season.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
All right, evaluate duke for me understanding that you know
already this season they faced Texas in the Dicky v
Classic here in Charlotte. They've beaten up on Western Carolina
and Army on Veterans Day, and obliterated n C State,
Niagara and Howard most recently, and they beat Kansas, but
they did so without Darren Peterson. Have they received a
(24:51):
you know, sufficient tests so far this season? How do
you think John Shire's young team has gotten off to
the start.
Speaker 10 (24:57):
I think They've done incredibly well because you got remember
what they did last year was phenomenal in terms of
their record, their their final four, their ACC championships. So
he's doing it almost with a new team. Now they
are studs. Cameron Booz is a stud. He's polished, he's
so tough, he's so smart, he's so skilled. But the
(25:19):
other players have grown in their roles you know, Isaiah Evans,
Darren Harris, you got Caleb Foster. I love what John
Shire is doing.
Speaker 7 (25:27):
With this team.
Speaker 10 (25:28):
Much like Hubert Davis Kyle. They're trying to find the identity,
the rotation and what they're gonna be good at this
season and what they need to work on. And you're
gonna have some early season tests that are gonna you know,
you may take a step back like NC State did today.
I know Duke has a big one coming up in
December second at Michigan State. That's gonna be a test
(25:51):
of toughness, both physical and mental. Michigan State playing so
well right now. We saw what they did to Kentucky,
they beat Arkansas that it's going to be a tell
tale sign for Duke. Not so much if they win
the game, but how they play in that game.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Uh, Wake Forest, I can't you know not mention the
Deeks after what happened a couple of days ago, stunning
Memphis down in the Bahamas at the Baja Mar Championship.
It was the consolation game, but you know, full court pass,
second and a half to go, they get that crazy win.
They're off to a four and two start. They had
the opportunity against Michigan. Couldn't really get it done or
(26:27):
couldn't finish it off in overtime, would have been a
massive win for them. Obviously, this is a massive year
for Steve Forbes. Similar question the start that Wake's gotten
off to and how big was that win over Memphis.
Speaker 10 (26:38):
Oh, that was a huge win because you need something
tangible to make yourself feel good. Now, Michigan would have
been a monumental win. And like you mentioned, it was
eighty five eighty four. I believe in overtime. Yeah, Texas
Tech they lost lost. Think about this, Kyle. They lost
to Michigan and Texas Tech by a total of two points.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Yep.
Speaker 10 (26:58):
I mean his team is right there.
Speaker 9 (27:01):
This year.
Speaker 10 (27:01):
Duke Harris has really come into his own. He's the
go to guy. The defense has always been good for
Wake Forest. In my opinion, it's really good this year.
They're scoring the ball at a high rate. They can
outscore you this year, and I believe that they'll be
able to stop.
Speaker 7 (27:17):
You or make stops when they need to.
Speaker 10 (27:19):
They need to finish somewhere in the top five. Sixth
in the ACC. ACC is much better this year. Everybody
talked about it last year being down and it was,
but with the influx of talent in terms of freshmen,
this conference is back and it's back strong. For wake
Forest to be in the NCAA tournament, I think they
(27:41):
have to finish fifth at sixth, at the very bottom
of that conference, so to speak.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
To get a bit, let's talk Hornets for a second.
You tagged me last night a couple of tweets about
the Hornets and con Kin Nipple. They've unfortunately lost sixth straight.
LaMelo and Brandon set out against the Hawks. Load management.
Brandon just got back from en They're clearly still managing
Lamello's ankle, and last night again they lose to the
Hawks and a tight one. Kind of a frustrating to
(28:07):
me anyway, frustrating played down the stretch in terms of
shot selection and things like that. You feel free to
give your thoughts on it. But once again, man conk
Nipple twenty eight points, six rebounds, three assists, seven threes
last night. I mean, Paul, I feel like a broken record.
This kid is just unreal.
Speaker 10 (28:24):
Yeah, I tagged you in that post last night. When
he came into the draft, I thought he could be
a next type of Kyle Korver.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
Yeah, me too.
Speaker 10 (28:32):
That post is looking pretty good right now.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Well, I mean, can he be better than Kyle Korver
at this point? Like, are we looking at a player
who's got a higher ceiling than that?
Speaker 10 (28:41):
No, I don't know, because his was going to happen.
It hasn't happened yet, but it's going to happen. The
NBA's Guiding Report is going to put even more of
an emphasis on him as the season goes on. You know,
your rookie year, you really have to keep doing it
for teams to respect you. They respect Conk Nipple, but
they don't him yet, but they're gonna fare him soon.
(29:03):
When you look at the team that they put on
the court last night, you mentioned it without LaMelo, without
Brandon Miller, without Ryan Cockbrenner, and a chance to win
back to back. It was a disappointing loss in terms
of they played well enough to win. They didn't score
down the stretch, they didn't have LaMelo and Brandon. He
(29:23):
talked about the last shot shot selection. Charles Lee's trying
to draw up every conceivable play. He can't for Contentnebull
to get a shot off or call him Sexton when
you have those two guys in Bridges, that's who you
have to go to at the end of games. I'm
really high on this franchise. I really am, because they
do everything the right way and everybody throws around the
(29:46):
word process. Process takes patience, it takes a lot of time,
and it takes a lot of focus. This group is focused.
They're fun to watch, and we still, Kyle, we still
haven't seen them all together over an extended.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
Period of time.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
No, they haven't. But I mean at four and thirteen
you're saying long term you like what the organization is doing,
but I mean short to intermediate. How much does a
feig and thirteen start change or outlook for the rest
of this year?
Speaker 10 (30:12):
Not much? Not much. You just say that seventeen games,
we're playing eighty two eighty two games. You take it
week by week, month by months. They can get on
a hot streak. They got some games coming at home.
It really is about putting a winning streak together. Obviously,
you want to stamp losing streaks and put winning streaks together.
(30:32):
I don't see the players being down at all when
they play. There's great effort, they're competitive, they're tuned into
what Charles Lee is telling them. They turn the ball
over too much in my opinion, and their defense isn't
even close to where it needs to be. And again,
sometimes that has to do with personnel a Cockbrenner in
the game. He's a great defender. If Brandon Miller and
(30:54):
LaMelo Ball just decide, you know what, we're going to
really try to guard, I'm gonna because we can score.
This team can score points. I don't think they're a
team that you have to worry about on the offensive end.
Win healthy to me, turnovers have to get lower and
the defense has to get tighter for this team to
get up to forty wins, manage all the way thirty
(31:15):
five wins.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
I hope you're right, Paul. It's always a pleasure, brother.
Thank you for the time. Enjoy the games tonight. We'll
talk to you next Monday.
Speaker 7 (31:22):
All right, KB, thank you, Bud, Thank you brother.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Paul. Being Cardi, Paul Buckett's ESPN College Basketball analyst, national
recruiting director, former Horizon League Coach of the Year with
us on a Monday seven oh four five, seven oh
ninety six to ten. We're live from Platform Sports in
South End, our watch party location tonight for Monday Night
Football Panthers and forty nine Ers from the Bay. The
Great and Powerful Chris McClain has entered the building, counting
(31:45):
down to kickoff is twenty minutes away at the top
of the hour. Two hours of Panthers in forty nine
Ers pre game coverage coming your way here on the
home of the Charlotte sports Fan Sports Radio ninety two
to seven WFNZ. Now speaking of the Bay, let's head

is it out there?
Speaker 5 (32:06):
What is I told you.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
Last Monday I'd call you from the I'm in the
shadows of Levi right now.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
A right, we're pre game.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
I've already seen several Painter fans, so I'm pretty excited
about that tonight. We're just laying in the weeds. Man.
I hope we come out play well. Just excited to
be in this position, you know, Like I think my
boy John Ellis said it's been over three thousand days
that if we win tonight will be in first place
post October. I think it's like twenty six hundred days
(32:36):
or something like that since we've been in this position.
So I'm very excited about this fan base and this opportunity.
I hope our bullys show up on the national stage.
We're so young, not many have been in this position,
but I'm excited. There's the way we can keep seeing
see and kidle in front of us to a certain degree,
and we open it up. I'm pretty pumped, man.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
That's awesome. So is the tailgate seen? Pretty rowdy out there?
What have you seen so far?
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Well, right now, we're about to maet Ta. We're about
to head that way. My nephew ak I'm a family divided.
I originally from the West Coast, so I'm here with
some Niner fans. My family. He worked for the works
for the Niners.
Speaker 4 (33:12):
And uh so we're.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Gonna we're in the actually employee parking lot. So but
we're gonna be heading in there shortly and we're gonna
get after it.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
I love it. Be safe out there, have fun, bring
home a win man. We'll talk to you this week.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
Keep founding there you go.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Michael from Raleigh, checking in from Levi Stadium. The shadow
of Levi Stadium out in Santa Clara Tanner, the Ranter
is up next on the phone lines. Tanner, what's on
your mind? How are you feeling about tonight?
Speaker 9 (33:34):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (33:35):
KB man?
Speaker 9 (33:36):
I am so fired up.
Speaker 10 (33:38):
I don't think I've been this excited about a game
since twenty eighteen when we got demolished by Pittsburgh.
Speaker 7 (33:45):
Now, I really hope.
Speaker 10 (33:47):
That this game doesn't go like that because that night
turned into a complete nightmare.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
I think we are going to be the nightmare tonight.
Speaker 8 (33:55):
This is the game where we showed the entire country
why we.
Speaker 5 (34:00):
Are going to win the NFC South.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
I'm gonna speak it into existence right now.
Speaker 10 (34:04):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
You gotta believe.
Speaker 11 (34:06):
I really think this team is.
Speaker 7 (34:08):
About to turn a new page.
Speaker 12 (34:10):
And I've got a really good feeling about tonight.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
I've got it.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
Twenty three, twenty two.
Speaker 12 (34:14):
I think the Panthers just barely squeaked this one out.
Speaker 4 (34:17):
Guys, we gotta win this.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Keep pounding, let's go love it. Tanner, thank you, Buddy
said he hasn't been this excited since the Thursday night
game in Pittsburgh against the Steelers, and I wish we
hadn't referenced that game because Bicycle Herd just said man,
listening to your callers, you can really feel a different energy.
Kick ass tonight, Panthers. There is a different energy, There's
no doubt about that. Let's see if Rick is feeling
it too. Rick is up next online too, Rick, what's
(34:41):
going on, buddy?
Speaker 6 (34:43):
Yeah, I'm just hoping they put the JC on Kittle
and then maybe Jackson on Pearsall and kind of like
Jayalen Ramsey's the guard from Kowsie pretty well, so I'm
hoping to see that. I think that's the two biggest
breath Affrey and Thiker McCaffrey and the tight end the Kittle.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Uh yeah, I mean, what do you I mean, who's
Who's I mean, somebody's got to cover Jawan Jennings. I mean,
I understand what you're saying completely. I just I worry
about this defense's ability to hold the Niners under twenty
four points tonight. I mean, I think Carolina probably has
to score twenty eight to thirty points to win it.
Speaker 10 (35:23):
I agree with that.
Speaker 6 (35:24):
I just think if we can keep Kittle and McCaffrey
least under one hundred yard rush and we might have
a decent shot.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
I'm hearing. Yeah, I think so too. I appreciate you, buddy.
Thank you Rick Rick Rick checking in right there. Last thing,
Joe Max Stallings on the text line said, KB, I
sure hope you were kidding about the Patriots and you're
feeling sorry for them and their dry spell they've endured. Yes,
Joe Mack, I promise you that was pure sarcasm about
the Patriots and during all those tough years as I
(35:54):
was talking to Paul being CARDI, I promise you I
don't feel bad for Patriots fans, not in the slightest.
All right, let's go to smoke on the headlines.

an update on Baker Mayfield. Apparently it's a low grade sprain.
Source said following the MRI and the source also said
(36:37):
as good as anyone could hope for Baker Mayfield and
to Tampa Bay Camp. So that's pretty big when it
comes in nanc South and the remainder of the season.
And also do you want to pass along sad news
you're talking about Wake Forest.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
We found out Saturday morning Rodney Rogers.
Speaker 8 (36:52):
One of the biggest Demon Deacons ever to play Inside
to Joel, passed away at a young age of fifty four.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Yeah, heartbreaking news over the weekend. Our thoughts and prayers
go out to his friends and family. There's no doubt
about that. A legend among ACC fans, Wake Forest fans especially.

Panther Bow gets the last call here on this massive
Panther Monday. What's going on?
Speaker 7 (38:27):
Bo Hey KB, Happy Football Monday. Great show is always
appreciated taking my call, Yes, sir, Stop Polly stop. Polly
Buckets thought he was a great as always, although I
didn't know did he know? He was in the presence
of Doctor Quad, I mean doctor Quad for the that's
like the Summit, the Crossroads that We're a passion and
ball knowledge beat right there. I don't get much more
(38:47):
on that.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Well, you couldn't be more right about that, because he's here,
he's got his headset on. I didn't want to. I
didn't want to get Paul off track, but Fiddy went
straight from cackling about Seaton Hall beating n C State
to devouring I always stay in Saint John's right now,
so he's watching it on the laptop right next to me.
Speaker 7 (39:05):
Nice, that's good be here. I just I'll appreciate all
his work. But hey, I know we got you know,
it's a pressure cooker of a game tonight. And I'm
surprised that McCaffrey is kind of still playing this late
and season.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
I didn't know that was possible.
Speaker 7 (39:18):
But uh, not to be a classless fan or anything,
but you know, we're fans. They could take shots. But
America's there for a treat to I kV. I mean,
they're gonna fall in love with Tosses Nails Brice, and
they're gonna fall in love with coach McDreamy. We're gonnay're
gonna fall in love so much we might get eight
primetime games next year. And as far as the pressure
cooker is listen, Derek Brown, Derek Brown, that guy puts
(39:39):
pressure in his costa before he wakes up, puts the
pep and his steps t mac. Get the lights bright man,
because that dude, that dude, he puts pressure on his
pepe and Jay Ayshawn Robinson pops pressure like tick tacks.
JJ Janssen puts pressure with all his vitamins in the morning.
Gets those are rights, so Jacy Horn right. I could
go on down the line, but you get it. I
(40:00):
think these guys are gonna be ready to go and
I'm jacked up. I can't wait. Man, I got Panthers
won in thirty four twenty six.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
