Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Kyle Bailey Show, powered by Victory Chevy Charlotte,
where every month is Truck Month, Victory Chevy Charlotte, your
Silverado Destination, Power number three.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Sports Radio ninety two seven wfn Z KB and smoke
with you here on a victory Monday. Yes, another victory
Monday last week is in the rear view, a distant memory.
At this point, we're back to assuming that Monday's will
be fun around here, right, That's that's what it's supposed
to be anyway. And at five and four, I'm having fun.
I think Panthers fans buy and larger having fun, and
(00:49):
I think it's more than OK at five and four
past the midway mark to talk about the playoffs, I
just do. Because the Panthers went into lambeau Field, that
an o frigid shrine where legends play and opponents usually
go to die, and they stunned the Green Bay Packers
sixteen to thirteen with a rookie kicker and a patchwork
offensive line as a two touchdown underdog, and they left
(01:11):
seventy eight thousand people in Wisconsin absolutely speechless yesterday. Because
the Green Bay Packers are supposed to beat the Carolina Panthers. Right, well,
that was certainly their attitude. Your Carolina Panthers are five
and four above five hundred for the first time since
twenty nineteen. They didn't just find a way to win.
They made a statement. I believe that it was not
a blowout win, but everyone laughed and scoffed at the
(01:33):
possibility this team could go up there and win after
what happened against Buffalo. And then Ryan Fitzgerald, a name
that we all know now certainly a household name in
the Carolina Panthers universe. Undrafted rookie from Florida State nails
a forty nine yarder with the wind at his back
at Lambeau with the game on the line, second walk
off kick in four weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
That's not luck.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
That might be a legend in training, like you could
feel it the moment the kid connected, the noise vanished,
you saw splitting the uprights, and the Panthers, I think,
started to believe that they might be a little bit
further along than any one thought. And of course we
cannot skip over Rico Hengel, mccringle Berry Dowdell twenty five
carries one hundred and thirty yards two touchdowns again, running angry,
(02:16):
running tough, running like he's tired of hearing that this
team can't do things. Every time he gets twenty or
more carries, the Panthers win. That's an identity, that's a formula.
And then there's the head coach, Dave Canalis. He outsmarted
Matt Lafleur in his own building. I think Matt, I
think Dave Canallis and a Javero knew exactly what Matt
Lafleur's offense was going to do pretty much all day yesterday.
(02:38):
We saw it time and time and time again. And
Dave Canallis, by the way, scrapped the two back system,
leaned on the hot hand, trusted a Vero's defense to
bend but never break, and it worked. Jordan Love threw
for two seventy three and did not sniff the end zone.
Packers hit the red zone five times, came away with
one touchdown. That's grit, that's discipline, that's coaching. That's now. Look,
(03:01):
nobody's handing out playoff berths in November. But when you've
got a team that's been the underdog in every single
game this year and still found its way above five
hundred something that hasn't been done since the nineteen seventy season.
Bind you, I don't know that that's rebuilding anymore, that's
just competing. And the math nerds say that it's still
about a seventeen percent chance that the Panthers make the playoffs.
(03:24):
All right, Well, let's be honest. Numbers don't measure belief.
Numbers don't measure momentum. Numbers don't measure the way it
feels when you can suddenly see the light at the
end of the tunnel and it's not a train, it's
wearing black and blue.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Because here's the truth.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
The Panthers just matched last year's win total, and there
are eight games left in the season, all NFC matchups.
Saints at home next week, then big ones with Atlanta,
the forty nine Ers, the Seahawks, the Rams, the Bucks.
The road's tough, okay, but for the first time in years,
it actually means something, and it feels like that road
can be navigated by the Panthers. So Charlotte Carolina's Panthers Nation,
(04:02):
on this fine Monday afternoon, just take a breath and
enjoy it. The wins of Lambeau carried more than a
football on Sunday. They carried a message to Panther faithful,
this team's not done. The coach has a plan, and
this locker room believes they're buying what he's selling. And
I'm here for the rest of the rod seven oh four, five,
seven ninety six ten. Hit us up on the FanDuel
(04:23):
text line. Let's go to the phone lines. Michael is
up first here in the five o'clock hour. Michael, what's
going on?
Speaker 4 (04:29):
What's up? Kyle? What a win? And listen, it's my
birthday today and the Panders delivered with a hell of
a birthday President yesterday.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Happy birthday, buddy.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
Shitting to my son right now, thanks man.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
It was funny.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Yes, okay, going to my buddies to watch the game.
I was saying to myself, I'm not gonna get upset.
I'm not gonna get upset. I'm not gonna get upset.
And I told my son, I said, we just I
just want to be within one possession in the fourth quarter.
But what we did is one. We've also shown what
kind of team we are. We're a running football team.
We took care of the football. Yeah, Bryce had the
(05:02):
interception the end zone was kind of a wacky play,
but it was kind of upsetting the Packers turnover which
we took away, which was awesome, but the guys just
showed grit, toughness, and I ranked this win up there.
It's a little bit different, but it was kind of
the same symbolism of breaking down a door or a wall.
Wherever you won. Is when we went into Seattle in
twenty fifteen and came away with the win. Different finish,
(05:25):
but same late game win where no one thought we
could or who we were. But to your point, I
think this is a franchise builder, and it's like almost
having two wins. You go, I don't know the last time.
You know, the Packers don't lose a lot of there,
so the fact that what they did is just absolute extraordinary.
And you know, to Fitzgerald, what a kick, I mean,
(05:45):
what guts, but to lead him down there, I'm just proud,
especially how young we are. So anyway, Derek Brown wan
a leader more what a signing. I can't say enough,
but I'm already excited about New Orleans. We obviously have
take care of business, but one week at a time,
and the factor we're sitting here in November in the hunt,
we have a lot to be proud of what we've
We've gone to a hell of a run here, but
(06:05):
a helver road to get here. But I really am
excited about this future and what we have and it's
just fun having a team and winning.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
It is fun, Guys, winning is fun. You found that
no doubt. Thank you, Michael. I appreciate the phone call.
Smoke what you got do you want to point out?
I know one guy who didn't have a good birthday.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Who's that? Jordan Love? Where?
Speaker 2 (06:30):
First of all, Nick Scott dropping that interception was just absurd?
Mac Jack or Mike Jack? What did I say, Nix Scott?
I'm sorry, I Nick Scott does not deserve to catch
strays today the man recovered a critical fumble. Yeah, Mike
Jack dropping the interception in the end zone was was
It was fourth down so it turned out fine, but
that dude had so much real estate in front of him.
And again that's why you're a corner and not a
(06:51):
wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
But that was brutal. Jonathan is up next, Jonathan? What's
going on going on?
Speaker 4 (06:57):
Bro?
Speaker 3 (06:57):
How you feeling? Buddy?
Speaker 6 (07:00):
The good had a good weekend. Mhel's gotta win on Friday.
Man that was much needed right there, My guys who
and you know what, I'm going ahead and tell you, hey,
I don't care if they threw out a soccer player
that if thirteen's wanting to throw that quarterback down there,
I didn't get him the best chance to win back
on them.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
You take a how you get it, you take a
how get exactly.
Speaker 6 (07:22):
But the reason for my call is because we want to.
I'm excited on how we went up the Green band
and took their chieves from the tiny everybody had us
counted out defense again, the defense is coming a live time.
I remember listening to this show earlier in the season,
everybody clowning the defense. I mean, look at what the
(07:43):
defense that now we hear when the top offenses to
thirteen points yep. I mean, come on, man, listen. We're
starting to trend up defensively, defensive wise, and I think
we're still going to get better and the best is
yet to come. Like I said, I'm really excited about
how we went into their house and took their business
(08:05):
because pretty much the whole entire league had us there
the water like you know Vegas, Like I was telling you,
Vegas had us.
Speaker 7 (08:14):
What was a two touchdown.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Down thirteen and a half. I think yeah.
Speaker 6 (08:18):
I mean, come on, man, they can't be disrespecting us,
because again, our deepense is getting better. I'm not counting
that that Buffalo game, but from what I'm seeing in
the NFC yet, we're starting to trend up and become
one of those teams. Like what Derrick Brown and Jason
was saying earlier this year, We're starting to become one
(08:39):
of those teams that teams don't want to start seeing us,
don't want to see don't want to see us. And
I'm really starting to believe in what they said at
the beginning they said. I think they were staying this
that like training camp around training camp time, so they're
sticking to hey, y'all don't want to see us, and
they're going into people house losing their hurry. Y'all don't
(09:02):
y'all don't want to see it. But again we're going
up there and cook their teams, no.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Doubt about it. Jonathan appreciate the phone call, buddy. Now
Future Redemption just said a week ago they gave up
forty plus not really trending, Buddy.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Last week to me was.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
The epitome of a complimentary football failure. You cannot play like.
You can't turn the ball over twice like Andy did,
blow scoring opportunities late with a sack like you can't
put your defense into And this is not to excuse
the run defense, because James Cook slice them and diced them,
There's no doubt about that. But if you get a
better offensive performance, that's a much closer game, right And
we're not banging on the defense, you know, it's just
(09:35):
you're not chasing your tail, you're not playing from behind.
It's a very different get. The NFL is so hard man,
and you cannot put one. You can't put the offense
of the defense at a severe disadvantage over and over
again and expect them to bail you out every single time.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
It's why it's like what teams.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Like Cincinnati, Like Cincinnati look at what Joe Flacco did
and they still lost the game.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
You just it's the last two weeks.
Speaker 8 (09:56):
I mean, he's had a career resurgence, like and if
they were in the play, if they would have won
these last two games, I would be shocked if one
of the major networks would be talking a Flacco MVP
like you laugh. But he's had nearly one thousand yards
of passing over the last two games. It's kind of
similar to what we saw him do in twenty twenty
three with Cleveland. Yeah, and now it's just a defense
(10:16):
is doubt got off of because they put way too
much money on the offense.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Ramblin Randy said, congrats put the Packers laid an egg. Yeah,
because the Panthers forced them to. I mean, you didn't
have eleven cardboard cutouts of the Panthers out there yesterday.
That defense was flying all over the place and making plays.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
They still had Micah Parsons out there.
Speaker 8 (10:35):
They still had him and Rashaan Gary against that patchwork
offensive line. That what would they do that left tackle
that many of you like to doubt and insult and
call out every single time his name pops up for
a bad reason. I want you to take stock of
what ikey Aquanu did to Michah Parsons yesterday.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Put him in handcuffs for four quarters. Okay, put him
in handcuffs for four quarters. Ikey Ekwanu was about to
get paid paid, by the way. Garza is up next
on the phone lines. Garza, what's going on? Hey?
Speaker 9 (11:03):
How you doing?
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Kyle good?
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (11:07):
I just want call.
Speaker 10 (11:07):
I'm super excited about about the game yesterday and the win,
but there's one one thing I no one wants to
talk about. And all these wins we have in a
fourth quarter as we're leading in no talk about Evro
seems like he wants to lose it for us. You
saw yesterday clearly it was a third and four, fourth
and floor and we're playing eight yards off the ball
(11:29):
and they only need four yards to get the first.
All they need is a quick four yard and they
got it. And it happens every game. He seems like
he wants to lose it for us.
Speaker 7 (11:38):
And I don't know if Everro is the man.
Speaker 10 (11:40):
I think we've seed to a new and aggressive that
loves to play aggressive.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Okay, okay, I appreciate the phone call. Listen, they were
playing Ben but Don't Break yesterday. Yeah, that they were
playing in Give me the Mattla floor cut, real quick,
give me the matt La floor cut on acknowledging that,
and you're going to hear a part of this answer.
And then I want to get to the bagel guys.
That guy's he's about to tick me off today. I
love him, but he's about to tick me off. Here's
Matt Lafleur saying, we deserve to get our asses beat.
Speaker 11 (12:05):
You know, give credit to Carolina. They played the game
that they had to play in order to beat us
in regards to trying to run the football consistently throughout
the course of the game and just make us dink
and dunk the ball down the field, which we were
able to move the ball, and then played good defense
in the red zone. We had the two turnovers, missed
(12:26):
a field goal, so we did enough things just you know,
we deservingly got our ass beat.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Both teams were doing the same things defensively for the
most part. Okay, there was a lot of off coverage
out there yesterday. Try to keep everything in front, like
that's the epitome of ben but don't break. I thought
EJ sent some really timely blitzes yesterday. They got after
the quarterback a little bit better. But the game plan
was not to get beaten over the top, not to
(12:54):
give up big chunk plays, keep everything in front, force
Green Bay to have to drive the ball down the
field eight ten, twelve plays. Force them to do that
and give themselves opportunities to make mistakes. That was the
game plan. Clearly yesterday and it worked out, So I
don't know what The off coverage sometimes is really frustrating
for me too, but you have to kind of step
(13:16):
back and take stock of the game plan and they're
sticking to it, and they stuck with it yesterday. It's
a big reason why they I mean, they held the
Packers to thirteen points yesterday.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
Man.
Speaker 8 (13:24):
Yeah, Plus, you guys, you're starting to reveal yourself that
you didn't game plan and watch high school football games
out in the country. When they go against some of
the faster schools, it's we're talking country cover three, back
to the back, to the back, to the back to
the back. You basically try to limit the damage by
letting them have that much of a cushion, and essentially
the way you want if you're going to lose, you
want to lose by a depth of a thousand paper
(13:44):
cuts in this situation.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
But it gives you a situation.
Speaker 8 (13:48):
Once to feel gets smaller there, you start to tighten
up on them, and usually teams like Carolina take advantage
of that with their game plan. That's the fault process.
So as odd as it sounds, it actually worked to perfection.
And I remember Willie p and Fiddy were losing their
minds on one of the fourth downs when he went
to the flat and it was four and four, and
it's like, why are they not right up on the man?
(14:09):
And I said, well, if they're right up on the man,
that means they get carried away from the play. And
that's about that first down gain instead of being like
a six yard gain, would have been a twenty six
twenty seven if not a touchdown in that situation.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
So that's why they're playing in a cushion in that situation.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Yeah, I agree, my guy kay Town Steve said he's
talking about Ikey. He says, I'm not mad at him,
but like Wes said, check out his PFF grade. I
don't know about getting paid, but definitely worth keeping him around. Listen,
Wes is my guy. I like him and I love Wes,
but like first of all the PFF grades, I don't
take him as gospel.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
I know you don't either. But here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
He was a seventy two point six, I believe in
pass pro yesterday was he not pretty sure? It was
a seventy two and a half seventy two to seventy three.
Speaker 8 (14:51):
And this has still been a career year for him
if you want to strictly go by PFF grades.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
And he's facing the best pass rusher in the league,
one of the two best pass rushers in the league,
and the guy had one press for all day long.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
And by the way, Micah is coming off a game
just two weeks ago three sacks. I don't know. Yeah,
that's crazy to me.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
Like again, look at his PFF grade overall or his
like we're talking about his past pro grade in particular.
Like I like, I want to say, if you continue
mis mentioned PFF grades of offense lineman, I can give
you Darre Williams PFF grade in twenty seventeen and it
indicate these Hall of famer Yeah, all pro Guess what
happened to that wildcard game? Everyone here wants to rightfully
take a crap on Mak Khalil? What happened on that
last drive in the last playoff game Carolina was in.
(15:30):
Did they put Cam Jordan in his prime against Matt
Khalil on that final drive? No, they put him against
Darre Williams. And what happened He folded like a cheap suit.
Back to the phone lines, Well done, smoke Matt from
Greensbro's up next. Uh oh oh, no, I think I
hung up on somebody, all hung up on Matt from Greensbro.
Matt calls back, Man, I apologize. Let's go to another
Matt other Matt. What's going on?
Speaker 12 (15:53):
What's up, guys? You guys just went where I was going.
Can we give Ikey a shout out? I know that
Ikey's on the fence. I know we're wondering do we
bring him back?
Speaker 13 (16:03):
Do we not?
Speaker 12 (16:04):
But about halfway through that game, I'm like his Parson's
even out there. And sometimes now I know sometimes we
doubled them. You do that with a world class pass rusher.
Oh yeah, But I also know that the times that
Ikey had him one on one, he smoked them. Okay,
so let's give Ikey credit number two. I said this today,
and I'll say that to you guys. There is no
(16:27):
way in the world that Dan Morgan should let Rico
Dowdell leave this building at the end of the year.
Jerry did that last year and we were the beneficiaries
of that. We need to find a way to keep Rico,
no question. Different team would Rico in the ball game,
no question.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Yeah, there's no question about it. Thank you, Matt. I
appreciate the phone call.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Listen. I absolutely think there's a world where Rico's back
next year.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Okay, I do. We got a long way to go.
We've got eight games left. I got to see how
much Tube was going. I mean, Chuba is a young guy.
I think Cuba's got plenty of good football ahead of him.
I think I hope for his sake, But he doesn't
look explosive, he doesn't look decisive. He clearly looks like
the inferior running back right now. I don't know if
he's still hurt, if he hasn't got his burst back
(17:15):
yet or not. We'll have to wait and see. But
there's a world in which Rico's here next year, in
Cuba's not. There's a world in which the reverse is true. Okay,
Jonathan Brooks was running on the field at practice last week.
That caught me off guard. Travis Eather Trevory TNS now
a panther. So you just gotta let this one play out.
I'm just gonna sit back and watch Rico run every
(17:36):
week and let it play out because I don't know
where this is going. Running back position is volatile, all right. Now,
The bagel guy.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
He told me.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Parsons also made it a point that it's hard to
get pressure when the other team only takes two step
dropbacks and the quarterback only throws for one hundred yards.
He did say that, but the bagel guy also said,
I love the win, but the Panthers are winning despite
Bryce's poor play. He's not pushing the ball downfield and
has no respect from defense. You can't win consistently when
your quarterback is playing like that. It's time for a
real Bryce conversation.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
No, it's not.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
It's not time for that at all. Today is the
furthest time for a quote unquote real Bryce conversation. I
didn't think he was great yesterday.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
I didn't.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
I didn't love the interception, that's for sure. I do
think the wind had something to do with it. That's
not making excuses because otherwise I didn't think he was
great until it mattered, and once again, when it mattered,
the kids showed up. It was also a part of
the game plan they wanted to limit possessions run the football.
Green Bay was playing a similar style defense to Carolina.
(18:36):
Panthers didn't want to get into a shootout with a
team averaging nearly twenty eight points per game. So they
played the way they did intentionally. So no Bagel guy.
As much as I might like you, it is absolutely
not time for a serious Bryce conversation. They love the guy,
his teammates do. They believe in him. He runs the
offense better than anybody on the team. He does some
things really really well. Is he limited in other ways?
(18:58):
It looks like he might be. But they've won four
of their last five games. In what world is it
time for a serious conversation about a quarterback who is
what four and five and his last five starts? That's ridiculous.
Come on, he's a winner, winners win. They won again yesterday.
Give me a break. We'll come back. We'll take your
phone call. Sports Radio ninety two to seven double all right,
(19:36):
coming to the phone lines seven four, five, seven ninety
six ten. I want to hear from you. Panthers improved
to five and four. We'll talk more about the Hornets tomorrow.
But they blew out the Jazz last night. I'm not
quite sure what that means, because I think the Jazz
suck a lot. I think they're really bad, and I
think Laurie markten is going to be traded before the
deadline to somebody that's a contender.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Oh my god, he's so damn good.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
It's unbelievable how good he is. But they blew out
the Jazz last night with no Lamello and no Brandon
Miller on the floor.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Well you know who they did have, Kyle, Well they
had him too, and CeON James.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
We get to replace it with our own, not Lebron James,
but CeON James.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Is that kid a star in the making? Like I
don't I don't want to overstate it here, but like
which one Seon James?
Speaker 9 (20:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Yeah, yeah, is he a star? His game translates to
the NBA better than I thought it was, I diah,
I'm so impressed.
Speaker 6 (20:36):
Just wow.
Speaker 8 (20:36):
I mean you got that, and you got call Printer,
who you know doesn't put up the most sexy stat lines,
but he does his job. He altered a lot of
shots yesterday, and he's holding his own pretty well. And
you know, if you'd be understanding if he didn't have
the best game because his mind's elsewhere because apparently his
wife is gonna give birth to their son any second now. Yeah,
(20:57):
so he's but he's still had a good game, not
offensively two points, but he had four blocks and like
I said, alter mini shots, And is I mean he's
been so efficient being around to Rim. He is essentially
I kid you not, he is the antithesis of Bizmack
Beyondbo when it comes to playing around Rim. Whenever you
pass the ball to him, there's a lot high like
leglihood he's going to go up there and dunk it
(21:18):
and not drop it.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
He does not catch a cold in the kindergarten.
Speaker 8 (21:22):
He would actually catch a cold in kindergarten class, unlike Bismack.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
I like that, but there's so many more colorful versions
of that saying that I can't say on the air
that I really want to say.
Speaker 8 (21:33):
We still love Biz, but that coming man, those bounce
passes give me ptsc sometimes right.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Before we get more phone calls here, Truth hurts on
the text line. Sent me something funny, he says, KB.
I tip my hat to you. You have to argue
with idiots who have no clue of how football and
game planning works. I agree with Steve to some aspect.
Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are
not an idiot. Bryce is executing the game plan that
the coaches have devised. We win when we run the
ball and control the clock. Listen, bagel Guy's not an idiot.
(21:59):
In fact, he he's a new dad. So I want
to I want to, you know, congratulate him. He and
I butt heads sometimes like billy goats. But he had
a beautiful baby girl named Nina born last week. And
the Bagel guy has been to many WFNZ events and
he's a he's a fine man. I just think the
Bryce stuff is insane right now. It is absolutely not
time to be having any sort of serious conversation about
(22:19):
Bryce Young because he only threw for one hundred and
two yards in a win yesterday. As somebody else pointed
out before I could even get there, King McQueen said,
Josh Allen threw had twelve completions for one hundred and
sixty yards against US last week, and James Cook dominated
just like Rico did yesterday. There isn't a quarterback in
next year's draft or free agency that I'd take over Bryce, Like, yes,
like you think Josh Allen was insanely now he's a
(22:42):
league MVP.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
We know what Josh can do.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
But the point is you you can win like that,
and when you have the game plan against the Packers
was not the same game plan as against the Dolphins
or the Cowboys as it will be against the Saints
or the Falcons or the forty nine Ers or the Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
It was just a game was played here. It would
have been a different game plan. That's insane like that.
That's how they wanted to win.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
They knew they needed to play that game yesterday that
way to win it against the top team in the NFC.
And they executed, and Bryce executed, and he led another
game winning drive. He has eleven wins in his career,
nine of them. Nine of those eleven wins were game
winning drives. And oh, by the way, should have had
three more at the end of last season, were it
not for the defense letting this team down against Kansas City,
(23:24):
against Philadelphia, against Tampa, he should have three more. That
was actually c cubo. Well, it was both and didn't
excel to in Philly. Okay, I'll give you two. This
should have two more. We'll go with two comfortably. So
I mean, come on, man, it is absolutely not time
for any of those conversations. Let's take some phone calls.
Tanner's up next, Tanner, what's going.
Speaker 14 (23:41):
On what's going on?
Speaker 5 (23:43):
KP and smoke Hope you guys are doing great? Is
victory Monday? I am excited, but I'm a little confused.
You know, from my understanding, he definitely gets too pumped.
There's no reason that he does that.
Speaker 15 (23:56):
That is not a flag. I think that's ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (24:00):
But at this point we should give Ingle mckringleberry.
Speaker 15 (24:02):
His own locker room stall in Bank of America Stadium.
I loved it, guys, that was great. I had a
blast watching the game yesterday.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Rico, he tore it up. He's absolutely towards these guys,
one thirty two touchdowns.
Speaker 14 (24:16):
He is our guy.
Speaker 5 (24:19):
I love some Rico.
Speaker 15 (24:20):
I also thought the defense played lights out yesterday. Talk
about Rose Boom. What a great pickup. He's been fifteen
tackles yesterday. Man, what a dog, dude, he is a machine.
Speaker 5 (24:32):
Mowrik had a pick. Bryce did play good, Guys. I
don't think he played great. He played good. He played
good enough to win, and he took that final drive
under pressure and he got it there.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
Man.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
Ikey also had a great game.
Speaker 15 (24:46):
I love the Ikey talk on here. He really needs
to be boosted up.
Speaker 5 (24:50):
I think he is one of our better players, and
I loved seeing what he was able to do protecting Bryce.
Derek Brown's a dog and gotta give it to j. C.
Horn solid coverage, Ryan and Fitzgerald. Man, he's got ice.
Speaker 13 (25:02):
In his veins.
Speaker 5 (25:03):
This guy has done it once again for us. I'm
so proud of this team so much, Grint, so much.
Keep pounding in this squad that we got Right now, guys,
I'm really excited for the second half of the year.
Speaker 15 (25:16):
So I want to see what you guys think about that.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Thank you, buddy, Appreciate the phone call. Appreciate you. Tanner
Is it relates to Rico Dowdell. Props to Greg Olsen
who recognized it right away. The Hengel, Mccringleberry Key and
Peel sketch and yeah, I guess there were one too
many pumps out there yesterday. Here's Rico Daddell after the
game on the unsportsman like that could have cost him
quite frankly, but didn't.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
The celebrations. You're supposed to get two pumps, right, Yeah, that's.
Speaker 16 (25:43):
My understanding from my understanding and everything I've learned, and
we go with stuff like this every week in the
meeting room.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
I definitely think you're supposed to get two pumps, hopefully
don't get a fine.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Does he think that's really the rule book? I ask
some questions about that. He might also get fined by
the league. I don't know, but Michael Key, one half
of Key and Peel, took notice and was upset in
a way that only comedians are when he acknowledged the
move on social media late yesterday.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
Rico, man, you got robbed. You only did two pumps.
I'm sorry man. Now we're gonna have to write a
new sketch.
Speaker 8 (26:22):
And by the way, he was ticked off because you know,
for those who don't know Keegan, Michael Key is a
massive Detroit Lions fan, so he was probably watching that
game at the side with a side eye because they
need the Packers to loose that they can catch back up.
Unfortunately for the Lions, the vikings off its exploded against them.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
WHOA that didn't see that coming. I guess the soft
benching maybe worse.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Yeah, I didn't didn't see that coming. All right, back
to the phone lines. We got our favorite marine back
in the house. Dave is with us on the phone lines. Dave,
what's going on?
Speaker 13 (26:52):
Hey, what's going on guys talk to me and you
guys just pointed out if we would have lost over
that field goal that was backed up because he did
two pumps. You get two pumps. It's been very well documented.
Is it just me or was Trevin Wallace in on
every single play?
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Yeah? See, he had a career was it a season
high er career high tackle?
Speaker 6 (27:14):
Smoke?
Speaker 3 (27:14):
I think it was a was it a career high
nine tackles or season? I think he had a lot
of tackles in one game last year.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
That's right, because you have the season high tackles for
him yesterday with nine, six solo.
Speaker 13 (27:23):
I think I was talking to a friend today, I said,
it seemed like every time there was a tackle made,
if he wasn't in on it, he was a foot
or two away.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Just unbelievable, unbelievable.
Speaker 9 (27:36):
Game for him.
Speaker 13 (27:37):
And as far as the Bryce yard, is this, that
and the other? Hey ask Joe Flacco how many yards
he threw four in a loss. I will take a win.
Control the ball, don't do anything stupid.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
It was a great game, sure was.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Thank you, Dave, appreciate the phone call. You win, You
play to win the game. Jack pointing out that Trayvon
Mary had a great game.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
He sure did. He sure did.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
And that's another one that Dan Morgan gets credit for.
It's not just the draft picks, it's not just the udfas,
it's the free agency signings too. And there was some
debate and we talked about this last week over you know,
Trayvon Marrick, Javon Holland which free agent safety should they
be pursuing. They convinced and landed on Trayvon Merrick. And
I said at the time, I thought he was the
better safety. Looks like it right now. He's made a
(28:22):
massive impact on the step And I think what also
helps with Trayvon is he can actually play like a
Swiss army knife. You can use him inside the box
a little bit more Holland You're never using him inside
the box. And even me, as an non expert, knows that.
And he can lay the fump on too.
Speaker 8 (28:37):
And you know, I'm not saying he's Mike Mint or anything,
but he can do a little bit of everything. And
I think ever since they had that player's meeting, I
saw Mike Cae mention it. Ever since Week four, they've
really been using them all over the place, and I
think you've been getting the most out of Trayvon since that.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Game, without question. All right back to the phones Mountain,
Mac is up next?
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Mac. What's going on?
Speaker 6 (28:55):
Man? What's going on?
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Man?
Speaker 7 (28:57):
Love the show.
Speaker 17 (28:59):
I just want to say that there's not five other
quarterbacks in the league right now in a vacuum that
I would rather have.
Speaker 6 (29:05):
On the final drive of that game, they did a.
Speaker 17 (29:09):
Shot of him overlooking the defense, and I saw a
young man that was confident, poised. I didn't see any hesitancy.
He knew he was getting ready to march down the
field and put down the number one team in the
NFC like an executioner will do.
Speaker 7 (29:22):
And I was just so impressed. And he continues to
do it, and people continue to doubt let him keep
douting it. He continues to do it. And I want
to pose one question to UKB.
Speaker 17 (29:30):
Has Rico Daldell single handedly changed your expectations for this
team this season?
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Thanks, guys, appreciate the phone call.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
I mean it's hard to say that he hasn't at
least a little bit given the spark that he's offered
this team. He's playing like a top three running back
in the league. He is a top three running back
in the league right now, just the stuff before this,
notwithstanding the way he's playing right here, and today I
heard Jim Zokie say it this morning. He's a top
three running back in the NFL. So spark the way
(30:01):
that he has, you know, elevated this offense, giving life
to the running game. We thought he could be part
of a great one two punch when he got here.
Remember oh they got two thousand yard backs. Now, very
few people thought that, if anybody thought that Rico would
turn out to be the lead back on this team.
And you know, you heard Michael Parsons apparently tell Pam
Warner maybe she overheard it yesterday Pam Warner reported or
(30:24):
not read production Pam Oliver, we have a Pam Warner here,
good lord, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
Side will be a site to say, I would say that.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Here's Pam with traffic. Also, here's what Michaeh. Parsons told
her anyway, but.
Speaker 8 (30:36):
Yeah, he said, yeah, the Cowboys didn't know how to
use them Carolina nose adum. That was apparently in the
pre uh game meeting that they have. That's rightly production meeting.
But I'll say this, Kyle, what they need to have
in Bank of America Stadium right now for Rico Dowdell,
put the numbers above his locker right now. Fifteen fifteen,
fifteen fifteen is all this guy should be thinking about
(30:57):
for the next eight weeks. Why fifteen fifteen mean, that's
the franchise record for most rushing yards in a season.
And even though he hasn't played mini snaps and a
multiple multitude of games here this year, he's already about
halfway there.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Oh yeah, seven thirty five on the season.
Speaker 8 (31:13):
Yeah, and look he can get to fifteen to fifteen
and break the Angelou's record from two thousand and eight.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
I'm not joking. He's been that damn good. I agree.
Let's go to the phone lines. Roberts up next, Robert,
what's going on?
Speaker 9 (31:25):
What's going on?
Speaker 7 (31:25):
Guys?
Speaker 3 (31:26):
Talk to me.
Speaker 9 (31:27):
I tell you, you know, I've been listening to shows
all dance stuff, and I fur people complain about, well,
you know, uh, this and that and this and that. Look,
they went at the Green Bay and they kicked Green
Bay's tail on on both of defensive and the offensive
line and stuff. And it's only a matter of time
(31:47):
before Branston receivers get better. But what we know about
yo Evro is that last year.
Speaker 7 (31:58):
Basically every day every game he went into a he went.
Speaker 9 (32:02):
Into a a gunfight with a butter knife.
Speaker 7 (32:06):
And if if you're given, if you're given the pieces,
and he can do some things as far as Rico Dodo,
I don't know who people are trying to fool by,
you know, but not putting him as the lead back.
He's got to be the lead back. And I'm looking
at I'm just taking one thing at a time. You
got the Saints coming in, you can get the six
(32:27):
and four. They can't be looking down the road. They're
not good enough to be looking down the road. But man,
this is this is fun and uh we just I'm
just going along for the ride for as long as
it last.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
I hear you me too, Robert. I bought the ticket.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
I'm gonna take the ride, and so far the ride
has been bumpy, but it's been a lot more good
than bad. Heck of a lot of fun. All Right,
we're gonna try to squeeze in as many phone calls
as we can before the show is up. Right now,
we go to smoke on the headlines.
Speaker 8 (32:55):
All right, The pink slips were not excluded to any
were actually in full effect again this weekend in college football,
except this time it involves a coordinator. Mike Shula, former
offensive coordator for the Carolina Panthers, former head coach of Alabama,
has been let go not even a year into his
tenure as OC for the South Carolina game Cocks.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
The offense has looked abysmal.
Speaker 8 (33:17):
That's the second firing on the offensive side of the
ball for South Carolina this year. But that wasn't the
biggest firing this weekend, Kyle, we have to go to
Alabama where Hugh Freese, who repaired his image at Liberty
after a very bad ending at Ole Miss, has been
let go. At Auburn, he went six and sixteen in
the SEC with the Tigers and Decoudi Gras was a
(33:40):
ten to three loss against a Mark Stoops led Kentucky team.
A Mark Stoops led Kentucky team with Mark Stoops who
could also be getting fired in the next couple of
weeks as well.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
Yeah, I mean, we're going to be having a lot
of fun with this coaching cycle over the next several weeks.
It's going to be pretty wild watch if Jamie chad
Well ends up taking a different job. Maybe if you
don't see Hugh Freeze back to Liberty at some point.
That's something I'm keeping an eye on.
Speaker 8 (34:07):
Because Jamie hasn't done that well at Liberty right Like
they've been kind of middle the rope, which is not
what Hugh Freeze.
Speaker 18 (34:13):
Had the matter.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Yep, now I'm with you on that. All right, we'll
come back. We'll squeeze in a couple of phone calls.
We'll wrap up the show. Sports Radio ninety two to
seven wfn Z.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Sports Fan Charlie Clock, I'll tune in.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
Kyle Bailey on the mic.
Speaker 16 (34:29):
Let's beginning line said harder than a weekday.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
At three on ninety.
Speaker 16 (34:34):
Two seven wfn Z, Buzz in the streets must be
horness in the boss. I'm stuck slow like falk on
the plate. Welcome to the Tall Hills. State votagen is tone.
That's a current event. Truth in the bars, not Overka's
ben three under four.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Ya don't show blanks.
Speaker 16 (34:50):
Talk shop hit facts. That's things to the right studio
got the smoke, that's just backs in the head. He
don't puff flies. He exhaled truth with care from the
banks of the pitch.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
That Bob Bros.
Speaker 16 (35:01):
Pantas played Greedy Horn his speed. So City been hungry
be what it takes ab live.
Speaker 10 (35:07):
That's a sound.
Speaker 14 (35:08):
The city.
Speaker 9 (35:14):
Lines it harder than a week.
Speaker 16 (35:15):
They had three seven wfn Z buzz in the street Smart.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
One final time Sports Radio ninety two to seven wfn Z.
Shout out for our boy Cal Heurd for putting that
together for us. It's a fantastic little bomb. As we
bring you back for this final segment of the show,
we'll we'll let you go with Loser Radio as we
always do on Victory Mondays. Coming up here in about
eight minutes. But first let's get a couple of phone
calls to wrap up this here radio program. Matt from Greensbros.
(35:42):
Up first, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (35:43):
Matt?
Speaker 18 (35:44):
Hey, guys, what's up? Straight weekend? Overall North Carolina Sports
take Door and pulling off the Doors special when everybody's
down and out. They beat George Stake somehow. Uh so
hope he retires it anyway. And the Hornets, you know, yeah,
I think Jeff Riderson might have h be has had
(36:05):
the best draft in Hornet's history. But we'll see just
seven games, but I love those rookies look good and
uh that's see getting to win. But yeah, the Panthers.
Speaker 14 (36:13):
Man, I call back in uh after the Dolphins win.
Speaker 18 (36:17):
Where I said that you don't know when it's gonna
click until it does.
Speaker 5 (36:21):
And this team right now, they believe.
Speaker 18 (36:24):
They're playing tough And a lot of people have questioned,
you know, analysis coaches style. If he's a tough coach,
what kind of team is that? That's a damn tough win.
That is a I'll give him the best company that
I can. That's a John talks Quinn and he was
the hell of a tough coach and that's what this
team's playing right now now. They were full of dogs.
And I think that starts right at the top with
(36:45):
dam Morgan. So he's building this team how he knows that,
he knows what he looks for and UH can't wait
to see what happens the rest of the eason.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Love a great phone call, Matt, Appreciate you, buddy. In
the interest of time, Philip is up next, Philip.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
What's going on? Buddy?
Speaker 4 (36:59):
Hey?
Speaker 14 (37:00):
How you got your head on right?
Speaker 3 (37:01):
I got my head on right.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
Hey.
Speaker 14 (37:04):
I don't understand why these people complaining about how we
want a win? Is a win.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
That's right.
Speaker 14 (37:12):
I mean I've been I've been bragging on them all say,
and the only thing I can say is, just right here,
it's a pitiful frog that won't praise his own pond.
They need to be doing this. Win man, not quit
a fathom.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
I like that, A pitiful frog that won't praise his
own pond. I'm gonna add that to the rotation. That's good, Philip.
Speaker 14 (37:33):
I'm telling you, hey, I'm getting ready for this next
win and this undercoming. O.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
All right, I appreciate you, buddy, have a great night.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
Somebody told me earlier in the show, the talk this
week better not be about how much the Saints suck. Well,
they do suck, but I mean, obviously we all understand what.
You can't take anything for granted with this team. They're improving.
They proved a lot yesterday, but nothing comes easy in
this league. And the Saints are gonna give the Panthers
their best shot and they're gonna have to earn it
on Sunday. And I'll tell you one thing, I cannot
(38:04):
wait to be at the Bank Sunday because that place
is going to be rock and there will be no
infiltration of visiting fans on Sunday. The Saint sat there.
The Saints Faithful is not going to be bringing that
that who that nation strengthen numbers to Bank of America
Stadium at one and seven. All right, let's go to
cow Herd with the last phone call of the day,
the man who gave us that juicy crunchy little bop
(38:24):
as we came back from break.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
What's going on cow Herd?
Speaker 19 (38:28):
Hey man, how you doing good?
Speaker 3 (38:29):
Good?
Speaker 15 (38:31):
You know I can just bow off and make way
for Loser Radio. I can call you tomorrow instead.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Well, you got about thirty seconds that I'm booting you anyway,
so you get your thoughts in.
Speaker 18 (38:41):
Well, I got Ellie in the car.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
We'll see what she's la horn.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
There she is.
Speaker 18 (38:47):
She was thrilled to learn that LaMelo Ball was six seven,
so now she likes the hornets and also learned that
she likes pulled pork.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
So it's been a heck of a week or so.
Speaker 12 (39:00):
True Carolenion there, you know, I just love the win.
With so much to say on it, so a little time.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
Rigo's obviously the man.
Speaker 5 (39:09):
Great time to be a Pantas fan. I won't go
into depth on anything.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
I know you're up against time, so I'll wish you
great evening.
Speaker 18 (39:15):
Here's a Hughes family smoke.
Speaker 20 (39:18):
See you guys later.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Thank you, Calhard Bye, Ellie. Have a good one. We
appreciate the phone call and the song. All right, First
of all, get us wherever you get your podcast, Apple, Spotify, Google,
just search the Kyle Bailey Show, download and subscribe. If
you missed any part of any show, that's the place
to find it. And I'll tip my cap courtesy of
our friends at Neogenics where they help heal joint pain
naturally with no surgery, no medication, no downtime. Go to
(39:40):
neogenicstem Cells dot com. I will tip my cap to
Smoke Ludwig who, once again last night after the win
was done, Smoke was you know, up late putting this
together for the masses. As we wrap up the show
on a Monday, for the fourth time in five weeks,
we walk off with loser Radio.
Speaker 20 (40:04):
And a very pleasant good afternoon or is it? Sixteen thirteen?
The final from Lambellfield. The Green Bay Packers with a
pathetic performance this afternoon and lose the game that they
have no business losing.
Speaker 15 (40:17):
They seem to get beat up by teams that are
more physical just playing tougher.
Speaker 7 (40:22):
That should be very concerning Jordan Love and Lafleur.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
I mean they look pretty.
Speaker 20 (40:27):
For pictures and for secome and that kind of stuff,
but man, they need a little rough and tough football
brought back here at coach a.
Speaker 6 (40:35):
Making a touch.
Speaker 9 (40:36):
I mean, Jordan Love is regressing again right before our eyes.
Speaker 7 (40:39):
Throw the ball up in the coverage multiple times today.
Speaker 15 (40:42):
Whoever is the person that go for it on fourth
and eighth should be immediately fired.
Speaker 4 (40:47):
It was absolutely ridiculous.
Speaker 9 (40:50):
I couldn't believe it. I thought I was watching flag football.
Speaker 19 (40:52):
I have figured out the Green Bay Packers' identity. Okay,
there are a box of chocolates, like from Forrest Gump,
a box of chalk. You don't know what you're gonna
get week after week, Like like, you can beat Detroit,
but you can't beat Cleveland, you can beat Pittsburgh, but
you can't beat Carolina.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Today, I'm tired.
Speaker 20 (41:11):
Of everybody anointing Matt Lafleur some sort of offensive genius.
You know, Oh, he's one of the greatest play callers
in the in the NFL. Well, how so, because if
he was such a great play caller, wouldn't they just
be stomping teams that they should be stomping. Buffalo went
into Carolina last week and stomped the snot out of them.
Speaker 7 (41:31):
The Packers are only to go as far as they
are right now with Lafloor.
Speaker 6 (41:35):
You've seen it.
Speaker 7 (41:36):
This team underperforms.
Speaker 15 (41:38):
They played down to their teams, They played callings bad.
Speaker 6 (41:41):
They need a change. Bring someone in who's gonna grab
the bowl.
Speaker 7 (41:44):
By the horns and lead this team. Now, some players
might say we love la Floor.
Speaker 6 (41:49):
Get over it.
Speaker 20 (41:50):
Wayne Lairvie had the greatest description of this game. Wayne said,
this game is like going to the dentist to get
teeth bowled without novacane.
Speaker 12 (42:00):
But I'm like, I hear you, brother, or look for
if you gotta fair between your legs, jeuse them.
Speaker 7 (42:05):
You are one of the worst clothes I've ever seen.
Speaker 8 (42:07):
I would love to come on that sideline and smack
that smug baby look off your face.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
This is our team.
Speaker 15 (42:13):
We're the owners. Listen up, head office, get rid of
this bum and bring someone who's gonna take charge.
