Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Kyle Bailey Show, powered by Victory Chevy Charlotte,
where every month is Truck Month. Victory Chevy Charlotte, your
Silverado Destination.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Cuminating live from the Chandler Volta Studios, the Carolina's Personal
Injury Lawyers. One call that's all go to Cvinjurylaw dot com.
I've been thinking like a Reba McIntyre spoof from my
guys Chandler and Volta. You know, like you know the
the Riba song, you know I'm talking about. But instead
of that, I want to be like, you can trust
your son to some uptown so other than law. You
know what I'm saying. Like I couldn't get it out

(00:42):
of my head. That's lame, I know. But I think
about Reba McIntyre. I know, but I think about Reba
McIntyre more than I probably should. Anyway, I'm Reba McIntyre.
All right, let's move on. We have Cam tweets things
saying good afternoon boys, just jumping in to say we're
bleeping back. Football is here. Thanks for getting us through
the last seven months. No, thank you, Cam tweets things,
thank you?

Speaker 3 (01:03):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
That said, we had an interview with Dan Morgan Earlier
in the show, he told us point blank that Adam
Thielen came to him and wanted back to Minnesota, and
that Dan did his best to work out a deal
that work for the Panthers. He also told us that
Ronter Renfro has a spot on the fifty three.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
There's more nuanced than that.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
But I asked Dan, is this an instance where you
offered him a practice squad spot or that's what you
want and he doesn't want to do that, And Dan said, no,
we were talking fifty three man roster. So let's talk
about it right now with a guy who covers the
Panthers inside and out every day. Good friend of ours,
good friend of the station, Joe Person of the Athletic
is back with us for a Thursday conversation.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
What's up, Joe Person? How are you, buddy?

Speaker 4 (01:42):
What's that deed?

Speaker 5 (01:44):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Trying to sift through all sorts of stuff, including this
Micah Parsons news, which we'll get to here in just
a second. I wasn't in the press conference today.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
You were.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
You have a better memory than I do, is you?
And I learned a couple of weeks back anyway, So
I trust the things that you take in. I didn't
hear everything Dan said then we had the audio, but earlier,
you know, he told us point blank, Adam Field wanted this,
we pushed for it, and we got it done. What
do you think of the deal and what do you
think of that rationale?

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Yeah, I wrote about this this morning in the Athletic,
and look they the narrative coming out of Mint Street
is that Adam Steelen didn't push for this, that he wasn't,
you know, being a pain about it. But but I
think it was Dan today. We talked to you know,

(02:31):
obviously David both days. Anyway, I think what he said
was once once feeling heard that the Vikings call had called,
like his eyes lit up, like he was all in,
you know, I mean, like I get it. He not
the first athlete that wanted to go home and finish
his career, you know. Heck, Julius Peppers did it here.

(02:54):
So then it became and I asked Dan point blank,
did you feel pressure at that point to get it
done at you know, at any cost? And he said, look, yeah,
I wanted to get it done. I wanted to do
right by a feeling, but I also wanted to do
what was what was fair, and I'm sure he told you.
And what I reported this morning was they wanted fourth

(03:18):
round value and they they you know, and if you
look at the chart the way the pick swaps went
and all this and getting the fourth and twenty seven
because as you know, the the Vikings didn't have a
fourth this year. They're getting one, you know, in the
spring for Daniel Jones leaving, so they're getting a comp

(03:39):
pick but they don't have one now. So I think
it's a pretty fair deal. I mean when when you
think about now, I know, you know, Deevo Daniel they
had to pay down his contracts some, but you know,
getting a fifth for Devo compared to a fourth for
the thirty five year old Adam Feeling, I didn't hate it.

(04:00):
But the bigger question to me is just boy, are
these guys, these you know, twenty two twenty three, twenty
four year old year old receivers highly drafted though they
may be, Are they ready to assume the torch and
panders think they are? But really no way to know
until the games that they start kicking them off here

(04:21):
in a week and a half.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Well, Joe, I get the honor and privilege of passing
along to you and the audience right now, some massive
breaking news out of the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys have
just traded Michaeh Parsons to the green Bay Packers, according
to Adam Schefter just a minute or two ago. You
your thoughts on Micah Parsons, who's been the topic of
conversation today, being dealt to Green Bay anything off the
top of your head.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
I mean, I'm kind of shocked. I thought this would
go the route that a lot of the Cowboys negotiations,
whether it's Dak Prescott or Sam Piky Elliott, you know,
where Jerry Jones managed to piss them off and yet
still the eleventh hour, you know, get a deal done.
I thought that's how this was gonna head. And then

(05:06):
when you started hearing talk about a second opinion and
whether that was accurate or not, or whether that was
finally the little push that got Dallas to move him. No,
I'm very surprised. I mean, that's that is huge. I mean,
defensive player of the year, arguably the best defensive player

(05:27):
you know, period, year in and year out. So yeah,
the Panthers won't see him, well, no, they were going
to see him. And when Dallas came here. Now they'll
see them when they go to Green Bay November first.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Yep, if you're just tuning in again, panthers out of
this conversation very quickly, if they were ever in it
to begin with. Micah Parsons dealt to Green Bay. And
apparently Parsons and the packers have already reached an agreement
on a four year, one hundred and eighty eight million
dollar contract in Green Bay. So he's a packer for real.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
For real.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Joe, person of the athletic is with us on the
hotline here, Joe the hudder renfro thing again. I heard
some of the clips from earlier. Dan told us that
this is I asked him, I said, did you offer
him a practice squad spot? And he just not doesn't
really want it? What's the deal here? And Dan said, no,
you know, we're talking fifty three man roster here. But
you know, same things you heard earlier in communication, still

(06:19):
talking to him.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
What does this all mean to you? Joe?

Speaker 1 (06:22):
I don't really get that because they had an opportunity
to keep him on the fifty three man I mean,
and so don't I don't know. I mean, I guess
now obviously Adam Thielen's gone, that would be a big difference.
But they they could have kept him to begin with,
and I think David Moore could have you know, probably

(06:43):
would have been fine going on practice squad. I don't
think he was going to go sign anywhere he did
not Like Renfro, David Moore would not have had to
pass through waivers. I thought David Canalis yesterday gave the
most candid and response about Hunter Renfro, and he said, look,
love Hunter Renfro, what he stands for as a guy,

(07:06):
as a player, he said, but we saw some peaks
and some dips.

Speaker 6 (07:11):
And they did.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
We all did.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
And I think that hamstring injury the first week of
camp set him back some. And then when he played
those last two preseason games. Now he went out there
getting a ton of reps with Bryce Young to be
clear if he got any reps with Bryce, but you know,
asking around the league the last couple of days and

(07:33):
talking to some personnel people from some other NFC teams,
they were like, yeah, I wasn't really seeing it.

Speaker 7 (07:39):
And so.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
I think Hunter Renfro right now is having talked to
him a couple I guess in June for a big
feature story, and I'd talked to him a lot about this,
what he did last year working at his own uncle's
business up in upstate South Carolina. I think he wayhing
the not necessarily the Panthers against the Raiders against TM X,

(08:05):
Y and Z. I think it's like, do I want
to keep playing football or do I want to go
back to my uncle's business where he's, by the way,
also an investor and part owner. And so that's my
read on it. I'm I'm, you know, I'm if he
if he signs with the Packers tomorrow, you can tell
me what an idiot I am. But but you know
he he's got a house right up the road and

(08:28):
more or less in Simpsonville, South Carolina. You know, he's
fact for the story I did on him. Recently said
he might go to Atlanta this weekend for the Clemson
LSU game.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Excuse me, I guess that's inly.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Nevertheless, I think he wants to stay close to home.
So I think the Panthers are still in it.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yeah, I'm with you, We're all guessing at this point.
Joe Person, the athletic, he's with us here on the hotline.
Joe yesterday's big news that got us off and distracted
in the five o'clock hour.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
But it's big news.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Ikiakwanu appendectomy on Sunday that was two weeks out from
the opener in Jacksonville. We had surgeons and medical professionals
texting into the show yesterday giving us their thoughts on
the timeline of recovery. They seem to think day to day.
There's a shot he could be there in week one.
But you've been around a while, what's your expectation.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
I think it'd be a long shot. I mean, he
was back to build in the building today. Now they're
off for the long weekend. Now he lives in Charlotte,
so he may go in for you know, I don't
know that there's much treatment he can do. I mean
maybe he's able to, you know, do some light weightlifting,
but I think you just wait for the sutures to

(09:40):
heal would be my expectation. But you know, Canalis said
he They so they practiced again Labor Day and he said,
I don't think he'll practice Monday either. So then it
just becomes a question of like, if he gets back
out there Thursday, is that enough?

Speaker 3 (09:57):
You know?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
And based on what I saw from some of the
other backup tackles during camp, I'd say, yeah, that's enough.
I'd be putting ikey Ikuano out there against Jacksonville if
if it's not going to obviously, you know, lead any
infections or any sort of setbacks in his in his
recovery from that happened hectomy.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Joe. A couple quick things. We'll get you out of
here now.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
In terms, what is your understanding of their current salary
cap situation? I asked, because yesterday, at about this time
we checked over the cap they were twenty three million.
I checked again today they're down to fifteen million dollars
in available cap space. I don't know if they intend
to do much of anything with what they've got, but
what is your understanding of the cap space they do
have and what they may do with it?

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Well, I think they want to roll it over. I
think that's why. And that was something that we and
I don't know that I'm sure, being the astute journalist
you are, you did talk about this. But getting an
extra seven million from stealing like that wasn't nothing like
in the you know, because there was talk like, oh,
the Vikings, the Panthers, to help pay down this salary

(11:02):
and the fact that Dan was able to do that,
you know, and all they paid was the bonuses that
you know that they had already paid him one point
seventy five. So they'll get that other seven million to
go toward the rollover for next year. I think at
this point, I mean, I don't see them going out

(11:23):
and making a big signing. They always the GMS talk
about wanting to have the injury pot you know, you've
got They've set aside twelve fourteen million bucks whatever it
is now to go sign injury replacement for you know,
for the course of an eighteen week, seventeen game season.

(11:43):
So but I don't know what the precise number is,
but I think their goal or intention is to roll
over most of that.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Do you think bryceon Tremaine can make any like, does
he have a significant impact on this team this upcoming year?
They clearly love him, But do you think he has
a big impact on this team?

Speaker 1 (12:01):
I don't know. I don't. I like him too, and
and I think I think he's gonna play mostly special teams,
like you know, the first couple of weeks as they
figure out this receiving rotation. But but that receiver room
just lost a big piece. So everybody moves up a chair,
and that includes Bryce and Tremaine. And he asked the

(12:21):
background with with Brad it from you know, when he
recruited him to Stanford and liked him out there, and
of course ended up at at Wake. But or excuse me,
they were together at Stanford. I'm getting my good academic
schools confused. But the point is, you know, I don't know,
I've I've got to In fact, I've got a deadline

(12:43):
today that I kind of forgot about it. We have
to make a bold prediction for the Panthers, and I'm
kind of leaning toward is it possible Jalen Cocher leads
this team in receiving this year?

Speaker 5 (12:55):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I mean there were times last year when if you
put League and Jalen Cocher next to each other and
you didn't know which one was drafted in the first
round and which one was undrafted, I think you'd think
Coker was the you know, the thirty second overall pick. So, uh,
could tremain make an impact? Possibly? But but I think
you know, obviously McMillan, Lagette and Coker are going to

(13:19):
get the lion's share early on.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Joe Person. We appreciate you as always, brother. I know
these are long days right now. We appreciate the time,
and I will see you again very soon.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
All right, buddy, have a good week at Thank you man.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Joe Person of the Athletic hanging out with us on
the hotline on a Thursday afternoon.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
If you are just tuning in a.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Massive blockbuster trade in the National Football League, Micah Parsons
will not be a Carolina Panther or a Dallas cowboy,
which I got to braise my hand and say I
was wrong about. I thought for sure he'd head back
at some point. But Jerry Jones has traded Micah Parsons
to the Green Bay Packers during the break. Not only that,
the Packers and Micah Parson's agent, David Mulligetta, who Jerry

(13:58):
Jones to, you know, try to bypass all together. They've
agreed to a four year, one hundred and eighty eight
million dollar contract forty seven million dollars a year for
Micah Parsons to go from Dallas to the frozen.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Tundra at lembeau Field.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
And if you're a Dallas fan, you are in hell
in calendar year twenty twenty five. You lose, You lose
Luca months ago, and now Luca and Micah I have
both exited stage left in Dallas, Texas.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Where's panther bo?

Speaker 2 (14:28):
I need you to take the temperature of Big d
and hit us up on the text line. How despondent
are the people in Dallas, Texas today? Losing Luca and
Micah in the same calendar year.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Oh god?

Speaker 7 (14:39):
What now?

Speaker 8 (14:40):
All right, the official trade details have come out? Oh
dear Gott, tell me, So what did Dallas get? Did
Green Bay Packers get Micah Parsons and they signed him
to a new deal? Cal Dallas gets Kenny Clark, defensive
tackle for the green Bay Packers. Pretty good player in
two first round picks. Really really, yeah, that's all it

(15:08):
took for Green Bay to get the best pass rusher,
Dave they're probably gonna have since Reggie White. You know,
it's a pretty tried and true testament and strategy for
the Green Bay Packers. When you need a generational pass rusher,
just go to the UNFC East and pay him the
big bucks.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
So two first round picks and Kenny Clark for Micah Parsons.
Now we can't ignore the fact that they had to
pay him four years one eighty eight.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
That's that's a big deal.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
So you've lost two first round picks and you gave
up a defensive tackle in Kenny Clark.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
In Kenny Clark like close to thirty.

Speaker 8 (15:44):
Yeah, he's he's not old old, but he's kind of
getting up there, especially for a guided trenches. I mean
he's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
But like, okay, so you gave up an okay defensive tackle.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
Say, yeah, he's better than okay.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Pro Bowl a couple of times, but he's so basically
a third year old defensive tackle. Two first round picks
and you got to pay the guy. But you get
Micah Parsons in Green Bay in his prime, in his prime, Yes,
in his prime.

Speaker 8 (16:09):
And look, like I said, this is the best pass
rusher they've had since Reggie White. They've had some good
pass rushers, but no one's come close to this. This
is a move you make if you're trying to compete
to win a Super Bowl, and that's what the Packers
needed to do. They haven't had standout guys on defense
on specifically at the edge spot. I mean, who is
the guy that Michael Vick juked out in two thousand

(16:30):
and two wild Card game. Oh three names and one
who did he juke?

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Uh, that's gonna bother me.

Speaker 8 (16:42):
Because Clay Matthews was a linebacker but heg But like,
they haven't had a stud edgresser. That's that guy right
there is the closest that they've had to a stud
edge dresser since Reggie White retired back in nineteen ninety eight.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
So the name's gonna bother me.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
But let's let's put the Panthers into that conversation real quick.
If Carolina had given up first round picks in twenty
twenty six and twenty seven and sent a Shawn Robinson
to Dallas for Micah Parsons, would everybody have been okay
with that? I would have and paid him to I
would have, Yeah, But I understand to the point where

(17:19):
maybe Carolina doesn't want to go all in on the
move like that just yet because they want to see
how things play out this year.

Speaker 8 (17:26):
I think that may have been a hold up. Not
saying that Carolina wasn't in the deal, but you know,
I wonder if that could have been a hold up,
and then thinking, hey, we got to make sure that
this thing takes time, maybe wait for the next move
and talked about it. We talked about it when the
deal got restructured for Trey Hendrickson. Trey Hendrickson is a
free agency free agent after this year. He's not going

(17:47):
to go back to Cincinnati. I can guess.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Oh, he's not doing that for sure.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
This is almost like an Andrew Whitworth scenario back in
twenty sixteen with the Bengals. I wouldn't be shocked if Carolina,
if they make the progress that they hope to make
this year and they feel like they're one piece of
way to go after Trey Henderson next year.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Be Ameila, Yeah, there we go. Okay, shout out nine
to one to Ozer number. Yes, Kabier bja be Emila, Yes, yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 8 (18:10):
It's like the last like really really good, like Pro Bowls,
all pro caliber defensive end they had. You're not counting
Julius Peppers. Yeah, but kind of different. I'm talking like
homegrown guy or guys that have been there for a
long time. Okay, so that's the qualifier. Homegrown guy. Okay,
the guys that have been there for a while. I
mean Pep was there for a short time.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
Okay, So again, the deal was the Green Bay Packers
just sent the Cowboys two first round picks and Kenny
clark In, a three time Pro Bowl defensive tackle in
exchange for Micah Parsons, and they have extended Parsons this
to the tune of four years, one hundred and eighty
eight million dollars. If the Panthers had done something similar

(18:50):
two firsts, I mean, you're not sending Derek Brown, No,
you're not doing that, but you're probably sending Robinson. He
Shawn Robinson, Bobby Brown probably doesn't get the job done. Yeah,
I'm just uncomparable trader to keep him right. But if
the Panthers had sent two firsts and a Shawn Robinson
and ain'ked Micah Parsons to four years one eighty eight
would you have been happy with that? Easy to say

(19:12):
in hindsight, but I'm curious seven oh four five, seven
ninety six, ten phone lines open when we come back.
Sports Radio ninety two seven wfn Z, Well, Michael Parsons

(19:37):
has been traded to the Green Bay Packers. Smoking for
me during the break that he told me, so smoke
wins this one. I was adamant that just like all
the others, Miles Garrett and Trey Hendrickson, Terry McLaurin that
he'd ended up going nowhere, but.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Smoke wins this round.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
Jerry Jones has in fact traded Micah Parsons to the
Green Bay Packers for two first round picks and defensive
tackle Kenny Clark. And I'm asking the question if you
were a Panthers fan and they had done something comparable.
Although there are one or two people texting in to
say I don't agree with the Kenny Clark a Shawn
Robinson comparison, And that's fine. Kenny Clark is more decorated

(20:13):
as a defensive tackle. I got no problem with that.
But just that's as comparable as it gets because Kenny Clark, well,
I mean, Derek Brown's a better player than Kenny Clark. Yeah,
even though Clark has more Pro Bowl appearances.

Speaker 8 (20:24):
How do we feel kind of a similar type of
player to what former Packers defensive tackle Mike Daniel was. Okay,
remember Mike Daniel about a decade ago, about the same
caliber player in my opinion. So you get a good
defensive tackle, but you're probably getting a good defensive tackle
in the back end of his career that's not gonna
be there for much longer.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
By the way, Hurricane Mark said KB funny story. Michael
Irvin was just on NFL Live not even an hour ago,
saying Parsons would not be traded. Yes, played that for
me during the break. We've all got again. We've all
been wrong. I can't I get up here every day
and tell you the truth as I see it. I
make predictions based on what I think is gonna have happened.
Most of us are wrong about things forty percent of

(21:03):
the time at least. I mean, he'll even professional gamblers
know that if they hit fifty six percent of their bets,
they're in the money. Right, So we're all gonna be
wrong sitting around predicting sports all the time. But yeah,
Michael Irvin was on the air twenty minutes ago as
a tied in Dallas, well we thought tied in Dallas
Cowboys legend, lecturing the audience that it was just never

(21:25):
gonna happen. They weren't gonna let Micah Parsons go, and
minutes later he was dealt to the Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 8 (21:30):
I mean, we can't say anything because just what die
Ago Mack was talking about how much Dan Morgan needs
to keep Adam feeling. Then they come back for break
for the final segment, Adam Feelin's just got traded to
the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
So it literally happened to us yesterday too. Yeah you're
talking about h Yeah, you're right about that.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
So again TFB saying, Dallas just traded Micah for what
will pretty much be two high second round picks.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
Look, I can only imagine what the airwaves at one
o five to three the fan down in Dallas sound like.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Right now.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
I am going to be listening to their podcast of
the five o'clock or four o'clock hour when I get home.
Maybe maybe i'm the drive home. I got to find
out what the reaction is in Dallas. But let's take
some phone calls. Robert is up first here in the
five thirty segment. Robert, what's going on?

Speaker 9 (22:13):
Brother?

Speaker 3 (22:13):
What's on your mind?

Speaker 4 (22:14):
What's going man?

Speaker 3 (22:15):
So what do you think about all this?

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Well, first of all, I got to see if we're
still good because you hung up on me the other day.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
Oh why didn't it was an accident?

Speaker 4 (22:23):
Come on now, No, I mean, I hope I'm at
least close to your himisker I've been with you for
a long time.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Of course you are. So that goes without saying.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
Man, now, now you said that they traded him for
too high second round.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Picks, No, no, no, two first TFB is saying that.
You know, he's implying that because they'll be good, likely
and win a bunch of games.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
Oh yea yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, but it was two.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
First round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark, who is
a three time Pro Bowler.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
But yeah, but can you rush the pass that like Micah?
And that's the thing I mean, Jerry Jones, his egoing
is about the same style. I don't know how he
gets any doorway because you know, the last time, you know,
when he fired Jimmy Johnson, how's that worked out for him?

(23:11):
And he got one super Bowl? But what have they
done since?

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Nothing?

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Yeah, so it's gonna be interesting to see how this stort.
This guy may be a good defensive tackle, but he's
not gonna be able to get to the quarterback like Michael.
But Green Bay's got to be ecstatic. I'm getting ready
to when I get done listening to you guys, I'm
gonna twitch over to the to the Green Bay Network.
And see what they're saying. But listen about the braids

(23:39):
and snicker. He's sixty nine years old. He may be
ready to get out of it. But I mean that
the braids aren't exactly going belly up. And I was
looking at their their pitchings. They've really uncovered a couple
of really nice gems and a young pitchers. If their
pictures say healthy next year, with a full year profile,

(24:04):
and everybody comes back healthy, they're going to be right
back on top next year.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Could be Listen. I appreciate the phone call, Robert. I
do think that there are some people bailing on alex
Anthopolis a little too quickly. I think he's made some
shrewd moves that people have already forgotten. I'm not going
to lecture Braves fans, though. We all feel the way
we feel about the front offices of our favorite teams.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
But they're gonna be okay.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
I did see your report that Mark de Rosa could
succeed Brian Snitker as the manager in Atlanta. Just thought
that was interesting because de Rosa doesn't have any experience
coaching in Major League Baseball, but he has a good
job at the MLB Network. He also coaches for USA
Baseball Team USA.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
And he'll do it for the World Baseball Classic next year.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
That's right, So Mark de Rosa has been mentioned as
a potential Brian Snicker's successor. Let's go back to the
phone lines. PSL sucker. My longtime friend but current adversary
is with us on the phone lines. PSL sucker, what's up.

Speaker 9 (24:56):
See, that's what this team does.

Speaker 7 (24:58):
It's so bad and makes that for serious out.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Of families fighting family. It's basically a civil war. It's ugly.

Speaker 9 (25:04):
I called up to tell you. I probably shouldn't have
said that you're becoming a homer. I should have said
that it's a homer take on the feeling trade because
the feeling trade, the feeling trade, it definitely takes us
further from the goal of making the playoffs. That I
think is indisputable. But also where you're right is it
doesn't matter. This team isn't going anywhere. This team isn't

(25:28):
making the playoffs. We're doomed to.

Speaker 10 (25:32):
We're doomed.

Speaker 9 (25:33):
This team's gonna stink, and it's gonna aspire to mediocrity
with or without feeling.

Speaker 11 (25:38):
And when they stink again, it's gonna be well.

Speaker 7 (25:42):
As B's bee.

Speaker 11 (25:42):
Wise Falter was the kittie receivers weren't good enough. We
needed another year of looking at by. This team stinks
and it's gonna stink forever. And that's just the reality right.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Today. My man, Nah.

Speaker 9 (25:58):
Come on, the Panthers are relevant.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Okay, fine, the last question. Let me ask you a question.
All right.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
So last year Cincinnati missed the playoffs despite having the
league's best offense because their defense was crap. All right,
So if they're doomed and they don't make the playoffs,
can you live with it? If the offense produces but
the defense still takes time to be rebuilt and they're
still struggling, what do you think.

Speaker 4 (26:19):
Think neither's gonna happen.

Speaker 9 (26:20):
I think the offense is gonna stink again and the
defense is gonna stink again, and they're gonna be bad again.

Speaker 12 (26:26):
Because there is a similarity between Jerry.

Speaker 9 (26:29):
Jones and TEP, which is either of them care about winning.
What they're about is their money and their real estate deal.
And that's what TEP really wants out of this team.
He couldn't give a crap whether they win or lose.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
He doesn't give.

Speaker 9 (26:42):
A darn about the fans. They accomminate feelings. They don't
accommodate the fans. What he wants is a new stadium
and a entertainment zone around it. That's all he cares about.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Bro, I gotta tell you, I gotta I gotta tell
you before you go. The text line is destroying you
right now. I've never seen this guy. They're jumping all
over you on the text line right now.

Speaker 9 (27:04):
I speak the truth. We're gonna think again. That's the
way it is.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
Okay, if you say so, Thank you, buddy, appreciate the
phone call. Text lines destroying him. I've got jackass twice.
Screw him, Hang up on him. Blast this guy's smoke.
Get this clown off the radio. Oh, he's getting just
absolutely call. Somebody called him a Dingleberry, big deep energy.
Nick called him a Dingleberry. Woo, Raleigh transplants all capitol letters.

(27:30):
Get this guy off the air. AJ Dynamite boo.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
This man, someone said, send him to Canada.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Free popcorn says, hang up on that, moron. I'm psl sucker.
You are getting destroyed, I mean roasted over on a
spit on the text line right now.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
One person, get aside. That was Cooper flock. Oh man, I.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Mean they just did like creative ways. Now everybody's taking
a shot at dozens.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Come again.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
PSL, sucker, you have been buried, buried by the KB
army today. Let's go back to the phone lines. Rod
is up next, Ron, What are your thoughts on Michael Parsons?

Speaker 5 (28:03):
Oh, what's happening? Hey? Can you hear me on this thing?

Speaker 3 (28:05):
I got you?

Speaker 5 (28:06):
Okay, Hey, guys, real quick, never listen to a sucker, Okay,
it is okay. Don't worry about PSL suckers. To man,
we're not worried about what suckers say. Okay, We're not
gonna be doomed forever. I do agree with one thing
he said about Pepper and Richardson having some similarities. I
feel like, personally, Keep just doesn't want dogs. He wants

(28:29):
good old He wants choirboy. That's what I feel like personally.
He wants choirboys that are going to yes sir, no, sir,
Yes ma'am, yes, ma'am. Which brings me to Michael Parsons.
I think that would have been a great fit. I'd
give him Dereck Brown for Michael Parsons. They could have
Derek and a second third round. Fix, give me Micah,
give me my sacks, give me my number one defense.

Speaker 6 (28:52):
Our team was not.

Speaker 5 (28:53):
That far off last year. We just had some especially
at the end of the season the way Bryce looked,
defense wasn't good. But defense doesn't have to be that
great these days.

Speaker 6 (29:04):
To make the playoffs. You know, defense used to win championships.

Speaker 5 (29:08):
I don't know if that's true anymore. It helps, but
you gotta have something, you know, Michael would have been
all we needed, Michael Parsons. That would have been it.
We had to have Michael Parsons then with the chemistry.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
Just so I'm clear, are you saying that you would
have traded two first round picks and Derek Brown.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
I would have gave him a second or a third. Oh,
you're say, would I give him the second? No, if
you get Dake Brown, you don't need to first round picks.
I'd give him Derek.

Speaker 6 (29:35):
I'd give them a second and a third.

Speaker 5 (29:37):
I would have gave them Derek Thatta gave them a
second and a third or two thirds, maybe two seconds,
But you're not getting a first rounder. I wouldn't give
him that, not for Derek Brown.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
I don't think that I don't think that's getting the
deal done, though, is the problem, because if you look
at it, Look, did I agree with you that Derek's
a better player, but he's made one Pro Bowl? Kenny's
made three.

Speaker 5 (29:58):
Well, okay, take it first. You want a first, make
a first round with Derek, you can have it. Just
give me Micah, give me.

Speaker 6 (30:04):
Mike if you want a first and Derek, you can
have a first. Jarren, that guy's a game changer. Watch
this dude on every single play and just see how
hard it is for that's.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
Two blocks him. He is a game changer. You can
put him on either.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
Side and you don't even really need the interior these days,
you just need a pass rust.

Speaker 5 (30:24):
The one game is still going, but just a pass
rush that it's seven on seven nowadays, it's not bul
football anymore. Seven on seven. Give us, Micah, give Bryce
some time. Now, Ikey that injury that could be a problem.
That could be a problem. But we get Itchy back.
Bran has time. All right, all right, I'm not worried
about feeling man.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Well, listen, I got you. I'm a little bit surprised
you are following up the other end. You and PSL
Sucker have absolutely torched the text line in the last
five minutes. Now they're coming after you, Rod, thinking you're insane.
The text of the phone lines. We're off the rails
here in the five o'clo. I mean, PSL sucker. That
guy's getting death threats on the text line. And Rod

(31:04):
wants to give up Derek Brown in a first round
pick for Micah Parsons.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
I just Jerry Jones content king baby.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Now let's go to a guy who broke some ribs
wrecking on dog poop a couple of weeks back. Corn
Cob Craig from the Great State of Nebraska is up next. Craig,
you better save this segment of phone calls.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
What you got for me?

Speaker 12 (31:21):
Hey, well, hey, thanks to taking my call. Hey, real
quick here with respect.

Speaker 7 (31:26):
To the ribs, and we can put a bow on
it after this. But this totally speaks to our machoism
as males. Yes, so I have my crash, I ride
my bike back home, I take my bike in the house,
I get to er, I'm barely breathing.

Speaker 12 (31:40):
I go into X rays and I'm thinking, man.

Speaker 7 (31:42):
I'm gonna feel like such a whiss if I have
like two cracked ribs. They come back and it's eight
broken ribs.

Speaker 12 (31:49):
And you're gonna need surgery.

Speaker 7 (31:50):
So man, I was just pay one bad ombree. But hey,
I was gonna call with a off topic with regard
to the trade, but rules taking his team down to
the link Arrowhead.

Speaker 12 (32:05):
And you know, year three's his thing and.

Speaker 7 (32:09):
In essence, with about sixty thousand Nebraska fans at Arrowhead tonight,
he's got eight home games, he's got a really favorable schedule.
I think everybody up here and I could quite frankly,
I'm not that into it, but they're thinking nine to
ten wins. November is going to be the big month

(32:29):
for him. But you know, they think they're going to
be good on offense. They think they can win a
couple of games just with special teams. And so that's
kind of the report from up here.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Well, enjoy the game tonight. I'm looking forward to it. Craig,
get what you got real quick. Oh, I think he's okay.
Thank he's going Craig. We appreciate the phone call. Seven
oh four, five, seven ninety six to ten. Hit us
up on the fan duel text line right now we
go to smoke on the headlines.

Speaker 8 (32:55):
All right, Well, while all that's been going on. We
actually have a college football game going on right now.
Boise State is taking on South Florida and Tampa Bay
early into first quarter zero zero. The one thing that's
really jumped out to me, Kyle. For some reason, South
Florida is wearing all black and August and Tampa what Yeah,
yeah they are. Yeah, very bold strategy.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Dere Also, just because we forgot to do it, Week
one is back. We are three and a half game
minutes into Week one of college football. Everybody celebrate. If
you're on the roads in uptown South End, No to Ballentine, Lake, Norman,
just roll down your windows and scream what else?

Speaker 8 (33:30):
John, Well, yeah, we're keeping things with tonight's schedule for
the college football Week one Ohio Rutgers happening on the
Big Ten Network at six pm. Jacksonville State versus UCF
down in Florida as well, Lafayette Bowling, Green Duke versus
Elond'll be on the ESPN Plus. And the biggest game
around here for US tonight is ECU versus NC State.
That game is seven o'clock on the ACC Network, but

(33:53):
you can listen to Jim's Oki and the Pirates Radio
Network right here on wf and Z immediately following the
Kyle Bailey Show, Love.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
It, Randy and Orlando's claiming we just went oh for
three on our last three callers. I've never seen this
much vitriol for callers plural on the text line in
my life. All right, we'll come back and wrap up
the show. Sports Radio ninety two to seven WFNZ. Oh

(34:31):
my Mike was on. All right, welcome back, wrapping up
the show here on a Thursday, we are into the
college football season. Boise State, the number twenty five team
in America, certainly the best G six team in the
country going into the season. That's, of course subject to change.
We are scoreless, but Boise State, I believe, just forced
a turnover in the first quarter by the Bulls. Now,
we got to go quickly here at the end of

(34:53):
the show, we're live tomorrow from the Doghouse ahead of
Charlotte and app State the Duke's Mayo Classic. Can't wait
for that. And then, of course it's a weekend, a
massive weekend of college football coming up n C State
East Carolina kicking off in an hour and twelve minutes.
I am finally, of course, you people wait until the
end of the show to start trash talking each other.

(35:13):
We got Wolfpac fans mostly predicting a blowout win tonight
over ECU Pirates of Waxaw. Give me a LFG Pirates.
I'll let you figure out what the acronym stands for
the I think salty pirates. Back in he's shouting about
the game two. So yeah, we got college football back
in a big, big, big, big big way tonight. N
C State thirteen and a half point favorites as we

(35:34):
near kickoff. For those of you who are interested in
such things, all right, don't forget the game is right
here on wf and Z tonight. Jim Zoki, longtime member
of the Panthers Radio network and now the voice of
the ECU Pirates. You will hear his call right here
on wfn Z coming up top of the hour. Pregame
starts at six, and of course they'll have a kickoff

(35:55):
at seven o'clock, so keep it right here. So right now,
we have to catch you up on what you've missed
it for the rewind and we go back to our
number one. Dan Morgan, general manager of your Carolina Panthers,
stopped by. We had a great conversation. Smoke Is informed
me he will get this segment up on the podcast

(36:17):
right after the show tonight, So if you missed it,
go subscribe please, And if you don't mind giving us
a five star rating gets a selfish ask, I get it,
but we'd appreciate it on Spotify, Apple Podcast just if
you could five stars, thank you very much.

Speaker 11 (36:28):
So.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
But here's Dan Morgan on the process of trading Adam
Thielen back to the Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 10 (36:35):
You know, and I said, Adam feelin down to my
office and he is just really wanting to go there,
and he's pretty adamant that this is what I want,
this is where I want to go.

Speaker 4 (36:47):
You know.

Speaker 10 (36:48):
We also, you know, I didn't really want to stand
in his way. It was something that he was really
convicted about. He wanted to go and finish his career there.
Obviously he's from there, he has a house there, you know,
he has young kids. Obviously there's a human side.

Speaker 7 (37:09):
To it too.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
But at the same.

Speaker 10 (37:10):
Time, in my mind, I knew that I had to
do what was best for the Carolina Panthers, so I
wasn't going to give him away. A few offers that
they did send over it would have been a giveaway.
But you know, I was back and forth, back and
forth with you know, Plecy their GM up there. You know, myself,

(37:33):
Brent Tilla, and Eric Eager sitting in the room going
through all these scenarios. We must have went through, you know,
I don't know ten different scenario trade scenarios that we
felt would like work for us and where we would
be at the advantage. And at the end of the day,
you know, we sent him there. We agreed to it.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
Later in the show, Joe person of the Athletic covers
the Carolina Panthers on what the pants could do with
the extra seven million dollars they're saving by trading Adam feeling.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
Getting an extra seven million from feeling like that wasn't
nothing like and the you know, because there was talk like, oh,
the Vikings want the Panthers to help pay down this salary,
and and the fact that Dan was able to do that,
you know, and all they paid with the bonuses that
you know that they had already paid them one point
seventy five. So so they'll get that other seven million

(38:27):
to go toward the roll over for next year. I
think at this point, I mean, I don't see them
going out and making a big signing.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
They they always that.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
The gms talk about wanting to have the injury pot
you know you've got. They've set aside twelve fourteen million
bucks whatever it is now to go sign injury replacement
for you know, for the course of an eighteen week,
seventeen game season. So but I don't know what the
precise number is, but I think they're goal or intention

(39:01):
is to roll over most of that.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
That's the rewind to look back into the show each
and every day as we wrap things up as a
reminder to get us wherever you get your podcasts to Apple, Spotify, Google,
just search to Kyle Bailey Show, download, subscribe, and if
you would, please, unless you hate our guts, give us
a five star rating on Spotify and Apple. Podcast That
help us helps us climb the charts. It puts us

(39:24):

and please let's go to smoke. Actually I don't know
what I'm doing. We tip our caps courtesy of our
