Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Kyle Bailey Show, powered by Victory Chevy Charlotte,
where every month is Truck Month.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Victory Chevy Charlotte your Silverado destination.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Heading into a massive weekend in sports. Five o'clockers, welcome
in Sports Radio ninety two to seven WFNZ emanating live
from the Chandler Volta Studios. The Carolinas personal injury lawyers
go to Cvinjury Law dot Com and I bet none
of you were thinking about suing the Panthers for intentional
infliction of emotional distress after what happened in the home
opener last week, so you won't need Chandler Volta for that.

(00:42):
But let's check in Monday after what happens in New England.
We'll have to wait and see. We'll get back to
the best audio in sports. We started to do that
earlier in the show, and then the phone line started
blowing up about the potential change in NASCAR. Jeff Gluck
of The Athletic reporting yesterday that NASCAR may be willing
to scrap the playoff system as it currently stands and
even thinking about reverting back to the old Winston Cup

(01:04):
Points Series or Cup Series Points system from pre two
thousand and four. Marty Snyder, by the way, seems to
think that will not happen. He thinks it, thinks it'll
be somewhere in between. But the phone lines lit up
on that back in the four o'clock segment. So we
will bring you the best audio in sports here in
about twenty three minutes. But right now, as promised. He's
a good man. He is a great reporter. He is

(01:24):
the sports director, sports anchor a WBTV. He's an institution
here in Charlotte. He should be respected as a man
and as a broadcaster. But he's also a Georgia native
and a dirty Falcons fan, and he is here to
take his beating like a man. I'm kidding, Nate Wemberley,
what's going on, brother?

Speaker 4 (01:39):
How are you?

Speaker 5 (01:39):
Man?

Speaker 3 (01:39):
I'm good, I'm steal down. I'm not gonna lie like
how much like just utter shock were you at? Because
I saw let me say this, I was in the
postgame press conference last week, right, you were sitting like
three or four rows behind me.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
I think so.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
After Dave Canalis finishes his postgame press conference, I stand up,
I walk into the Panthers locker room. I'm in there
for a couple of interviews with Shaw Smith, Wade and
Mike Jack and a few others, and I'm like, you
know what, I'm going home. I've been here all day.
So I turned around and I walk out, and I
walked through the press conference room and there's Nate sitting
like basically by himself up in the fourth row. And
I left your loan. I left your loan. But how

(02:16):
much shocked were you in watching that?

Speaker 1 (02:17):
I appreciation I appreciate you leave me alone because I
was not too happy, you know what, I really wasn't
let me stop. Some of it shocked me. The score
shocked me. The result didn't shock me, you know. And
when I was leaving last week, the last comment you
made was about, you know, coach Ron saying that, you know,

(02:39):
be Jon Robinson is the best player in the league,
hands down, And at that point I was like, when
I heard that on Winns, I was like, Man, we
don't need to be going down, dude. You just you
just had one good game. Chill out. And when you know,
they're coming out on the field and Parker Romo, the
kicker who just got signed, they're booing them and he's like, hey, yeah,
give it to me.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
Come on, Get Get up, Get up. I'm like, I
just watched you miss some kicks in pregame. Calm down.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
So look the thirdy the nutting shocks me the result
at the end, and I was like, yeah, they said
they walk right into this one.

Speaker 6 (03:13):
They walk right into it.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
And you know they didn't help with the game planning
panis out here and not throwing the wide open receipt.
It was just a recipe for disaster and they got
exactly what they deserve.

Speaker 6 (03:24):
How about a royal whipp it?

Speaker 3 (03:26):
How about And I want to credit Panthers fans because
I thought that it was only about seventy percent full
of last week, let's be honest about that. However, it
was about ninety six percent Panthers fans in there, and
that made all the difference in the world. I haven't
heard the bank like that since the end of the
Steve Wilks era, probably Christmas Eve twenty twenty two or whatever.
That was, right, So the fans had a reason to cheer,

(03:48):
to get loud, to do things that fans do. But then,
how about you guys, Zach Robinson, the offensive coordinator, Well,
you guys know that's a really sleepy place to play.
Oh yeah, you look pretty sleepy on Sunday, Zach. How
about the fact that, and this ties back into the
Panthers defense. Atlanta never got past the thirty yard line
of Carolina on Sunday. Now that's not sustainable week over
week in the NFL. But boy, this Panthers defense the

(04:10):
last game and a half has really started to come
a lot.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
They flipped the switch a little bit there.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
They're looking a lot better, and they're doing it with
a lot of guys banged up. You know, Towark Wharton,
I mean, like man game one.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
He was I was like, jeez, that's a good run stop.
He hadn't been playing.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
So they're pretty banged up on that side of the
ball and they're still playing well. And you know, big
shout out to Mike Jack and j C. Horn, two
of the better corners in the league right now, great
cored and I'm like, you know, they're they're they're playing.
They flipped the switch. Now you got to keep doing it.
And this this Patriots team is going to present some problems.
You know, Drake Maywood, the ability to run and pass. Uh,

(04:49):
the pass catchers don't not give socks off. But Hunter
Henry to tight end. He's there leading rusher and what
I mean receiver? What do they have a problem doing
covering tight end?

Speaker 5 (04:58):
Right?

Speaker 1 (04:58):
So this team is going to challenge it. You know,
this Sunday's game is gonna be a real good game.
But there's no reason why this team shouldn't go up
there and get a win.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
I feel, yes to your point. The Patriots aren't a
great football team. We all know that, but it's a
tough place to play. And let's be honest, the last
several years, nobody counts on the Panthers going on the
road to get a win anywhere. So for this is
huge for the organization, Yes, for the continued building and growth,
and if you believe that there's a process taking place
with Dave Canallis and Dan Morgan and Bryce Young in

(05:27):
this group, it would be so huge for this organization
and it's momentum to go up there and get a
win and come back home and not be under five
hundred for the first time and I don't even remember
how long like that. If they can go up there
and get a win, not to look ahead, but boy,
the game against the Dolphins the following Sunday should be
an incredible atmosphere in the back.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Look, the thing is, and you just beat a team
thirty to nothing, and naturally no one really cares. The
whole narrative is the Falcons had a terrible play a
game plan. You know, they're running a pistol too much,
and there's nothing really talking about. There's no one really
talking about what the Panthers actually did. It's all about
the Falcons and if they continue to do this, they

(06:07):
can change all of this. But you know, I find
that just like, man, wow, I mean, you just shut
a team out, you beat them, you just molly whopped them,
and you didn't let them cross the thirty.

Speaker 6 (06:17):
Locally we're hearing that. Naturally, no one's talking about that.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Well, it's funny. I said the other day, I joked,
I teased going to break. I was like, what are
the Panthers in the Indiana Hoosiers have in common? And
it's coming out of last weekend. They beat their opponents
so badly that now everybody's not even focused on who
won the game, it's how bad the losing team was. Right,
that's what we're talking about this week nationally, absolutely, and
that just mind blow. That's just mind blowing to me.
But if you go up and take care of business

(06:42):
against New England and then you come back you're two
and two, the narrative will start to change. But it's
completely on this team. They put themselves in this situation
because they've been so in up for many years. No
one's really I mean, oh, they won a game, Okay, great,
and they'll go back to being the Panthers, right, So
now you know, you got that. They're in the process
and they talk about it. They're like, dude, we got
to earn this thing. There's nothing guaranteed.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
So you know, the team has got the right mindset
to be able to go out there and change this
whole narrative.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
And that's where it starts. You know.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
You know, fans are going to be fans regardless, but
if the team has the right mindset to be able
to change this narrative, which they do, I think that's
a very positive step.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Now I'm not going to play the entire audio clip.
It's a little bit lengthy, but yesterday after practice, Xavier
League got met with the press and he was peppered
with questions from Joe person David Newton about the hamstring,
and without saying it, he pretty much said, I feel fine,
I'm solid, the hamstring solid. I'm just doing what the
coaches are telling me to do. I'm just doing what
the coaches and trainers are telling me to do. Would

(07:37):
not say that he's too injured to play when asked repeatedly,
And it's led to a lot of speculation this week,
and it looks like he's going to miss his second
string game.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
What do you make of this?

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah, he's out. They've already they already deemed him out.
So I really don't know what to make of this.
And you know, and I think he kind of admitted that,
you know, it's been a mental thing for him all
the way up to this point. Is this another way
of instead of just saying we're gonna flat out bencham
like they did Bryce Shaw last year. Maybe this is

(08:06):
the Bryce Young treatment, just in another fashion, like we're
gonna sit you down, just sit there, work it out
in your head, sit out here and look at what's
going on on the field, get your mental reps in,
and then we're gonna put you back out there. So
this might be that situation without them actually saying, hey,
we're gonna bench you. So you know, and I think
that's what he might need is just to get his mind.
He definitely has to get his mind right, because he's

(08:28):
already admitted. Once you already admitted, that's a step for it.
But you know that your mind is working. He just
needs to slow that thing down and get I mean, look,
severely gets too talented to be playing the way he's playing.
If he gets his mind right, everything else will take
care of himself. I do believe that. I mean like
he's a first round drive pick for a reason. They
saw something in them. He's got talent. And you know,

(08:50):
it still is a mental game. You know, you can
have all the physical traits that you want, you still
got to be able to know where you need to
be and have your mindset right to be able to
catch the ball when it comes to you.

Speaker 6 (09:01):
It's concentration, that's mental. So you know, let's give it time.
And you know I don't.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
I'm not gonna I'm not ready to throw him out
and throw him away and say, oh he's a bus.
Got to give it time, like with this entire team,
because it's a young team, it's a developing franchise, it's
a developing program and a franchise right now, you got
to give him time.

Speaker 6 (09:20):
You got to give Exal time too.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
I mean, is Abum on the text line just said
it's the Bryce treatment for Excel. And there's speculation about
trades and this, that and the other, and it's like
this just might simply be exactly what they did to
Bryce last year. Sit him down, keep him out out
of sight, out of mind for a couple of weeks,
let him regroup, and then try to bring him back
in a week or two.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
That's just not labeling as a benching. It's just an
injury and we're just gonna let him stay.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Well, we've certainly seen it before, all right.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Nate Wimberley WBTV in studio with us, I wanted to
ask you this. We had a text also ask I
got this question for you last week too as we
kind of look ahead to high school football tonight, some
big games on the docket. But I've gotten a question again,
what local kids are bawling out that are three four,
five stars for high school that we need to be
on the lookout for. I know it's a big question,
but you know, I know, but there are guys across

(10:03):
the region that are showing out on Friday nights that
we know are committed places. I know it's a lot
of names, but just in terms of the biggest prep
high school football names that are you know, we're keeping
an eye on and monitoring each and every week.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Who would that be for you?

Speaker 6 (10:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:15):
For me off the jump as Jamurry Nichols, quarterback at
West Charlotte. I mean, like with every game, every week,
he just continues to get better and better and better
as a soft boy. He led them to a state championship,
and now he's really having to take another step forward
because Katie Cotton, who's committed to do has transferred out
to Weddington. He did that a couple of weeks ago
in the season, so now even more of a and

(10:38):
Katie kind of went to coach Grinder and said, hey,
this is Jamoor's team.

Speaker 6 (10:43):
He's going to be the leader.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
He had already kind of conceded that over to Jamoory,
and he took it and ran with it. Now that
Katie's gone, he's already in that spot and he's just
his leadership is going up. His play is going up
every week, running the ball, throwing the ball. He's simply
dynamic and he's he's going to quickly right up to
up the up, the up the stars. Let's just call
it that way for him, So that would be the

(11:06):
eight number one. It's that's a that's a big, big, big, big, big,
big question right there. But you know Gordon Seller is
from he's committed to Clemson. But you know White receive
deal too, so absolutely. So you know, we got a
lot of guys in this area that are just you know,
that's low stars, but you know they're gonna get to
college and they're gonna develop. Yeah, and then sooner or

(11:26):
later you're gonna be like, well, I didn't see that
in high school, but here they are in the pros.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Well on that thing Providence Day team. What Leo Delaney
the left tackle also going to Clemson two. So I mean,
listen this, as everybody knows, this region is rich with
college football talent. You mentioned Katie Cotton, and I go
back to week one to keep pounding classic. We found
out minutes before the game that he wasn't dressed out
that night, and as you pointed out, he's now at Weddington.
So things change quickly sometimes too in terms of the

(11:50):
games tonight that you're keeping an eye on where you're
going by the way, what are you spotlighting.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
I'm going Butler Chambers.

Speaker 7 (11:55):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (11:56):
Both teams coming in Uh with some losing streaks.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Uh. Butler started out to another lost three three in
a row. Chambers started out three and no they've lost
two in a row. Both teams are just kind of
just trying to figure themselves out. I think Chambers is
in a better position because they got Zion Haley, you know,
that dual threat quarterback. But you know, throwing the ball
is struggling, you know, with four interceptions and only two
to time passes. But he can't change the game with

(12:20):
his legs. So that's going to be a very interesting
contest right there. In the first game of the MECH
Power six Conference tonight. That that conference is hands down
the best in the state. In our game of the
week is West Charlotte Malla Creek in that conference. You know,
we've already talked about Jamoor and Nicholas, but Mala Creek's defense.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
Is just they're the truth.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
After they lost to Grace in a few weeks ago
down in Georgia sixty three to thirteen, they have come
back and beaten Myers Park twenty to thirteen, and they
beat Cardinal Gibbons last week twenty to sixteen defense. And
they run the ball and they get timely throws when
they need them. They don't ask their quarterbacks to do
a lot and they're running like a two quarterback system.
But they run the ball so much and everybody keys

(13:03):
that run, and then Sam Cheeseboro at quarterback can just
kind of just hit it there and throw up a
pass and then you know they're off out the gates
and they're they're scoring with the touchdown pass. So, uh,
it's a very interesting game tonight right there.

Speaker 6 (13:17):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
I don't know that this one's gonna be super competitive,
but I am just curious Hickory at North Lincoln tonight.
The reason Smoke's ducking you and he's not here tonight
is that he's filling in as the PA announcer for
the game tonight at North Lincoln and Hickory.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
So listen.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Hickory is very good. I think North Lincoln struggling a
little bit. But if we can get some TV cameras
up to North Lincoln tonight just to get some Smoke
audio on the PA, that'd be great. I'd appreciate that
we're not gonna be you're not gonna be there. Okay,
Hickory's gonna probably, you know, even though No. Lincoln agy
to running back is pretty good at North Lincoln, but
they they're kind of struggling. Hickory's got a big game
next week against Maytan. The only thing that I would

(13:52):
say is if they're caught looking ahead, because that's gonna
be a game for the conference championship next week between
may and Hickory, uh and and East Lincoln as well
as in that conference. But they've got a big game
next week against mate. If they overlooked No. F Lincoln
to night, they could get surprised. So if there's an
overlooking factor, there's a chance. Okay, all right now before
we get you out of here. There was also news.

(14:13):
It's not it doesn't feel like that time of year,
but it's very close to being the time of year
where the Charlotte Hornets re enter our collective consciousness. Yesterday,
the Hornets parted ways with Nick Smith Junior, a late
first round pick from two years ago. I had a
few people, you know, lamenting that decision or feeling like
it might be a questionable decision, but I think most
people just saw the writing on the wall with everybody

(14:34):
they brought into this backcourt this offseason.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
That's I was thinking that same thing. I was like, Man,
you're letting this guy go. I mean, like, he's got talent,
and I just don't think he got the I just don't.
I think he's gonna go somewhere. He's gonna flourish in
this league. He's gonna go somewhere. He's gonna latch onto
somebody else, and he's gonna be a good six man
off the bench for another team. But because they signed

(14:57):
and drafted and traded for so many guards, there's only
so many spots that you can have on a team.
So you know, he's just the odd man out. But
I think we're gonna look down the road and we're
gonna be like, Wow, we had Nick Smith Jr. And
now he's out here doing it with X or whatever
team there is gonna be.

Speaker 6 (15:14):
I think it's gonna be.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
But you can't really be mad because of the dishes
that they made this year. Somebody has to go and
it's just Nsja right now. Yeah, I hate it, though
I really think he's a good player. He'll be a
good player.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
I don't disagree with that.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
I've said a couple of times that I could absolutely
see us looking up in six months and feeling like, oh,
we probably shouldn't let him go. But at the same time,
there hasn't been any massive jump in development since he's
been here, and he has had the minutes, especially with
all the injuries last.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Year he did Yeah, you know, you know, nine points
per game in career high last year. But you know,
I think it just I don't know if it was
just ready to click here, but I think it's gonna
click somewhere. And there's tons of examples of that in
this league. I mean, it happens all the time in sports.
You know, it doesn't work here. Baker Mayfield didn't work,
didn't work at Cleveland, didn't work in Carolina with the Apple.

(16:00):
Now look at him, and I think, you know, a
new news news scenery, some new scenery is gonna be
good for NSJA, and we're gonna look back and be like, eh,
maybe we should have kept him. But like I said,
you can't be mad at it because of the numbers
of guards.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
It's simple.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
It's LaMelo, Brandon Miller, Colin Sexton, Trey Mann, Conk Nipple, Like,
where did the minutes come from. They're just simply not there.
Uh and they probably have another, you know, another cut
to make. I don't know that Pat Connaton makes this team,
if I'm being honest with you, I don't know with
the additions of Canipple and Liam McNeely, like, I just
don't know if Pat Connaton actually has a place on

(16:36):
this roster by the time the season rolls around.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
I know he's a vet.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
I know he's had a nice run of the NBA,
but his numbers have dropped off a little bit. And
you've got some younger guys who you think are going
to be and become what he has been in the NBA.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Yeah, man, are we sure about Man's back?

Speaker 4 (16:53):
I guess we can never be sure about it.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
You know that.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
That's That's where I'm like, Okay, they're in a and there.
I love all the moves they made this offseason. I
love them, you know something, And I think they've protected
themselves against LaMelo getting hurt. I think if LaMelo gets hurt,
kind of sex and ship will come in. And they've
done things that can, you know, mitigate the fact that
if you lose somebody, you might be able to still

(17:18):
hang in here, and that's why I love all the
moves they've done.

Speaker 6 (17:21):
And you know, but I don't know.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
I really want to see Pat Conton in the Hornets
uniform uniform this year and see what he can do.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Since you mentioned Baker, how about the gall of that guy?
Like I was just singing his praise as a couple
of days ago. Then he comes out and blames Steve
Wilkes for getting him cut in Carolina, and it's like, hey, buddy,
the internet exists. I mean, there's a dozen other articles
reporting that you requested your release when you were here.
And then Steve Wilkes comes out earlier today I think
it was and says I'm pretty sure interim coaches don't
have that much say in personnel, because if they did,

(17:51):
I would have never cut our best player career, would
have never traded our best player, Christian McCaffrey. So I
think Steve wins that one. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely, Noah, this
was fun. Hey, you handled it well as I figured
you would. Look, I'm a realist. I'm a real Falcons fan.
When they stink, they stink, and they stunk stunk. But
I'm going down to Atlanta to go see them play wise. Okay,

(18:13):
there you go. He's he's not jumping off the wagon yet.
All right, but we'll see you next Friday.

Speaker 6 (18:17):
I have a good weekend.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
They we'll come back. We'll take a couple of phone calls.
Apparently Tulsky's been waiting to laugh at Falcons fans, so
we'll get him in when we come back. We'll take
one or two others and Devill squeeze in the best
audio in sports. Sports Radio ninety two to seven w
F and Z. Hey, we're coming to the phone lines

(18:45):
here in just a moment, KB and Flounder on a Friday.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
He's filling in for Smoke.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Denver Dirks points out that apparently North Lincoln does stream
their games live, so if you want to tune in
and maybe catch some of Smoke on the PA tonight,
Like I just want to know what smoked the PA
and ncer sounds like, I know it smoked the uh
the radio producer sidekick sounds like, I know it smoked,
the Panthers, hornets, NASCAR savant sounds like, but I want
to hear Smoke in stadium calling out tackles and first down,

(19:12):
Like does he have a big North link? And that's
another North Lincoln first. Uh, like, does Smoke hit us
with one of those tonight?

Speaker 8 (19:17):
Well, I mean, I'm going to tell you when he left,
he was not the most positive. So hopefully there is
going to be that is a North Lincoln first down
at some point tonight.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Right, Let's hope that he gets to use that call.

Speaker 8 (19:30):
And that this shining moment of the evening isn't we
have dollar hot dogs down at the concession stand.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Fifty to fifty tickets available till the end of the show.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
Yeah, classic classic high school thing.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Yeah, so maybe somebody will grab some audio for us,
all right, because I'm gonna be watching UVA Florida State.
I gotta be honest about that before I take these
phone calls. My guy cow Herd text in. He's upset
that I haven't read this yet. It's very lengthy, but
I'm going to read it. He says, we're going to
win this weekend, the Panthers, that is, and the headline
going to read Panthers blow the Pats so hard you'd think, no,

(20:04):
cow did.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
You not preread that? Sorry?

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Man, No, I skipped that part. No, it's okay. You
didn't dump me, did you? Okay? Now, Okay, you almost
got me. The cow heard. Then he says, here's the thing.
At thirty to nothing, shut out like the we just
dropped is one of the rarest wins in football. Since
two thousand and five, there have been over fifty five
hundred regular season games and only twenty two ended with
a thirty plus points shutout. That's zero point four percent

(20:28):
of the time. What happens to those teams? They win
the next game seventy percent of the time. Sixty percent
of them make the playoffs, a chunk of them go
deep conference championships, even Super Bowls. The fifteen Panthers, eighteen Rams,
and twenty twelve Seahawks all rod a blowout like this
right into January. So it's not some fluke. You don't
accidentally beat a team thirty to nothing in the NFL.

(20:51):
It's a marker of a team that's about to run hot.
And now the Patriots are rolling out a patchwork line
and a secondary missing their best corner. Maybe storm's coming
and his he says, it's going to leave Foxborough wrecked.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
That's from Cowherd.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
I did see a stat the other day that every
team in the NFL that has achieved a thirty plus
point blowout in the regular season has gone on to
make the playoffs. Everyone since the two thousand and eight
New England Patriots. They did it with Matt Cassel win
eleven and five and of course missed the playoffs that year.

Speaker 8 (21:23):
Panther fans would take eleven and five and barely missing
the you know, barely missing out on the playoffs. Hell,
at this point, you take nine and eight, barely missed
the playoffs, miss out on the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
So mean, he's right about that.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
I mean, whether or not you put any stock into
that stuff is one thing. But history tells us that
teams that do what the Panthers did on Sunday pretty
much always make the playoffs for the better part of
the last twenty years. So I don't know, I mean,
does history inform that or does you know this become
another exception to the rule. All right, let's take some
phone calls. I'm told that Tulski would like the opportunity

(21:55):
to laugh at Atlanta Falcons fans, and I am inclined
to give him that opportunity. Tulsky, what's going on, Paul Yo,
what's the KB?

Speaker 2 (22:02):
I go, Oh my god, I haven't talked to you
in forever. Beautiful family, dude, beautiful family.

Speaker 5 (22:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
So uh yeah, Atlanta sucked. Every time they get to thirty.
There has to be something with the number thirty. There
has to be something with the number thirty. Do you
remember the Super Bowl and you guys are just talking
about the Patriots. There you go, dude, listen, Atlanta sucks.

(22:37):
They'll never be the Panthers. You might as well call
them the Doves.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
But here, before I.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Get off, I want to get your opinion because I
value it the most. What do you think about What
do you think about Jackson Dart starting for the Giants.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
I think he is the only thing standing between Brian
Day Bowl and a pink slip right now. And I
actually think I think Brian's I actually think Brian's a
pretty good coach. I also think they've made disastrous decisions
at quarterback up there, and I know I'll give Flounder
a chance to rebut me on that. But I've always
thought Brian was a decent coach. But I don't know,
what do you think?

Speaker 2 (23:11):
I I think I think Mara and Tish needs to
get the hell out of there.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Okay, agree with you too.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
The coaches are Okay, that's that's fine. You know, but
here's the biggest thing. Always had an O line problem.
Always always had an O line problem. And I'm going
to listen to this off the air, but listen, Kyle Bailey.
God bless you, God bless your family, God bless everyone
of the listeners. You guys have a good time. Atlanta sucks,

(23:39):
Carolina Panther, has your h has your number, Paul.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Sk let's go baby checking in on a Friday. First
time we've heard from him in a while. I love
it so real quick. You're not You're out on Dable.
I mean yeah, I'm kind of there with him. I
mean you look at what he's done with, you know,
Daniel Jones. Now, the success that Daniel Jones is having
in Indianapolis, it really just makes you wonder with his
attitude that he brings to the is that an attitude
that actually works because he comes from the Bill Belichick line.

(24:06):
But we've seen with a lot of these guys they
try to take that same attitude and it doesn't really
connect with guys in the locker room because you haven't
necessarily won anything. I wonder if it's starting to become
the same way in New York where he's not connecting.

Speaker 8 (24:18):
Now, don't get it wrong. I think Joe Shane's to
blame for a lot of this as well. I don't
think he's been a good GM. I hate the fact
that they're starting Jackson Dard in this game because I
think it is a desperation move to try to save
their job, and I don't know if the kid is
ready yet, especially against the Chargers. Why would you not
wait until Week five when you play the New Orleans Saints.

(24:39):
That's the one easy team on your schedule, and you say, no,
we're gonna throw them out there against one of the best.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
Defenses in the league. It doesn't make sense.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
Well, I think obviously everybody's over the Russell Wilson experiment too.
Who's your Bobby's up next? Real quick, Bobby? What's going on?

Speaker 4 (24:51):
Buddy?

Speaker 7 (24:53):
Hey Kyle, I'll be quick. Thanks taking the call. I
hope tell HER's right. That's all I can say. There
two Monday headlines for you.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Great calls.

Speaker 7 (25:00):
May day due to heat from Panthers stout secondary Panthers
win twenty to thirteen.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
OO like it.

Speaker 7 (25:06):
And second, secondly, Americans reclaimed the Cup and send the
Europeans packing. Now, I do value your opinion too. You
think we can pull it off?

Speaker 3 (25:15):
No, no, it's not No, it's not looking good.

Speaker 7 (25:19):
I agree. There they're lineups too stout for us.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
Yeah, I agree. Hey, thank you, buddy. Hope to see
a Sunday countdown to kickoff. By the way, Fort Mill
location of Twin Peaks right next door to Caro Wins.
Who's your Bobby tends to come see us when we're
in the uh, the southern location of Twin Peaks. All right,
let's go to Flounder with the best audio in sports.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
What did you say?

Speaker 6 (25:40):
You? What?

Speaker 4 (25:41):
What did you say?

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Hold up?

Speaker 4 (25:43):
Wait a minute, send me way.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
What I mean by that is all right?

Speaker 3 (25:49):
I'm sorry Panthers PSL. Sucker said, knock this crap off.
They don't talk Panthers on WFA in Yeah, that's fair.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
Anyway.

Speaker 8 (25:57):
They have brought it up before, some of the New
York stations bring but they say a team lost thirty
to nothing to the Panthers. Yeah, that's when they bring
it up. All right, go ahead, all right, So let's
go with a little A former Carolina Panther, in a
response to something that he has said, apparently to a
Tagabailoa is reading his press clippings a little bit and

(26:18):
he is not happy with what he is hearing. This
is him responding to criticism from Cam Newton, and he
gets a little fire here.

Speaker 9 (26:27):
Anybody can play quarterback in this league, then, I mean,
I want to see anybody on the streets come and
play quarterback. I mean, Cam, Cam's doing his thing, for sure,
but you know, to I think it's easier to be
able to hold a clicker and talk about it that way,
or talk about what someone else is doing wrong when
you're not going out and having to do the same

(26:49):
as them, right, So I think it's all it's easy
to do that. I think anybody can do that. I
don't think anybody can play quarterback.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
Did he forget who he was respond?

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (27:01):
I think so.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
I know that I'm far from the first person to
tackle this audio and have the same opinion.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
But I listened to that.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
I had listened to it three times to see if
there was something I was missing because I had seen
the headlines and the highlight basically of what he gets said.
But I'm like, he's responding to Cam Newton, so there's
got to be more to this and it's It basically
amounts to, yeah, well, Cam, let's see you try to
play quarterback in the NFL. Well he did, and he

(27:29):
did it better than you. So it's a very weird response.
Ever since he's gotten paid to what that is, he's changed,
like his plays regressed. His attitudes is a lot different.
He talks a lot now and not in the best
possible way, like I've always been to a fan, but
I didn't understand that.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
Yeah, that was incredibly confusing from him.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
It's just it's a mess in Miami and all that
does is fan the flames. And I, just like everybody else,
listen to it, Listen to it again, listen to it
a third time, like, oh, he really does seem to
be indicating that quarterback's just really hard and Cam wouldn't
know anything about that. And it's like, buddy, what pony
are you trying to make here? I talk about Peter Schrager.
That's fine, Ryan Clark will get your back, But like

(28:13):
you're talking to Cam Newton.

Speaker 8 (28:14):
I thought at first he was maybe trying to say, currently,
you could not be better at quarterback than I am.
If you think it's so easy, then you come out
here and play quarterback now, but he really it sounds
like he's talking to like, Hey, Yle Brant, try this,
not Cam. Yeah, I did very odd?

Speaker 4 (28:32):
Id that Cam really knew how to respond?

Speaker 3 (28:34):
He's like, what's like four different ways that I can
go with this? And I'm not really sure what to
say here because all of us are confused.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Anyway, go right ahead? What else you got?

Speaker 6 (28:42):
All right?

Speaker 8 (28:42):
Speaking of responses, how about Steve Wilkes. He had a
chance to respond yesterday to Baker Mayfield and his criticism
of him, and Steve Wilkes saying, look, man, I can't
really control personnel decisions.

Speaker 6 (28:55):
A lot of respect for Baker.

Speaker 10 (28:57):
Tremendous football player, and he's doing to hell of a
job with those guys down there.

Speaker 6 (29:02):
So nothing really to say beyond that. I don't know
how long.

Speaker 10 (29:07):
You've been doing this, but I'm sure you're quite educated
on it. I don't really think an entrant coach has
that much authority over personnel. If that's the case, I
would have never gotten rid of our best player, Christian McCaffrey.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
This is another one, like sometimes these athletes say things
and we're just like, buddy, what what was rattling through
the old dome? Piece before you fired that one off?
What are you thinking about right now? And look, a
lot of great athletes, Michael Jordan comes to mind, Tom
Brady comes to mind, have manufactured slights and disrespects to
fuel their own competitive drive that might be exaggerated, overblown,

(29:44):
or in some case outright fabricated.

Speaker 4 (29:46):
And this was one of those.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
But it was again even more audacious because kind of
like the two A thing where it's like, hey, buddy,
do you know who you're talking to?

Speaker 4 (29:53):
With Baker?

Speaker 3 (29:53):
It's like, hey, man, you realize that all of this
is out there and publicly documented. I remember being on
the air of the day that the news broke that
you had requested your release from the Carolina Panthers, And
now here you are trying to muster up that aforementioned
fuel chip on the shoulder, whatever it may be, and
you're talking about Steve cutting you.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
He was the interim head coach.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
He had no authority to do that, and Steve had
the best walk off there at the end. If that
were the case, I wouldn't have traded our best player,
Christian McCaffrey, because lord knows, Steve Wilkes wanted to run
the football very odd thing.

Speaker 4 (30:23):
Again.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
We got quarterbacks just shooting off at the mouth with
wild stuff this week.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
What else you got?

Speaker 8 (30:28):
All right, let's go to Jerry Jones. He's a man
that usually makes a lot of sense. Right while he
was on with ten fifty three the Fan in Dallas,
he's one one five three, ye, yeah, there we go
one five to three the fan in Dallas. And he
was talking this morning about the matchup with Micah Parsons

(30:50):
and he seems to give him a little bit of
credit but also a little bit of criticism about it.

Speaker 5 (30:55):
Michaeh is special, and we all know he is, and
he can be disruptive, but we have huge amounts of
experience with the anecdotes that we've seen used on us
for the last four years. And while he does make
great plays, there is also a way to approach playing

(31:19):
against Michael, as we know because we didn't exactly win
the Super Bowler in those years. So bottom line is,
when I look at playing him, I think of trying
to have him as an advantage when we were playing
other teams over the last four years, and some plays

(31:39):
it looks it looks beautiful, but in other plays, especially
running plays, you can wish you'd have had a different formation.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Wow, there's always got to be that undercurrent of you know,
cynicism feels like a shot still it at Michael Parsons,
not Micah. At Michael Parsons, two questions here for you.
A couple of weeks ago, Chiefs Eagles on Fox drew
thirty three point eight million viewers. Now that was the
four to twenty five window on Fox Sunday Night, Packers

(32:17):
Cowboys in primetime Sunday Night Football NBC. Micah makes his
return to Dallas over under thirty three point eight million viewers.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
For this game, it's probably gonna be over.

Speaker 8 (32:27):
I mean this matchup, first of all, I mean, you're
you've got a man that's going if he needn't, if
he needed more fuel for this, I think this one
right here will definitely fuel him. You can tell that
the reason why this trade went down was because their
relationship was really that fractured and it had gotten to
that point. So, I mean, there are going to be

(32:48):
a ton of people at here tuning in. I know
I'll be locked in on this one. And also another
reason why people be locked in because the Cowboys kind
of suck man.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
They do they do and we love that. Finny might
have jumped off the bandwagon at the right time on that.
But second question, did the Packers lost to the Browns
last weekend force you to reevaluate Green Bay as a
Super Bowl hopeful or was it just a one off?

Speaker 8 (33:09):
Yeah, I mean a little bit, I guess, because they
have these moments where they just seem to go into
you know, where they go into a lapse and all
of a sudden they struggle against some of these teams
that they shouldn't. I thought, Jordan Love No, he had
some moments the other day that just leave you scratching
your head, and I think he's He's had those moments
at times, you know, in some important games, So I

(33:31):
think you do have to reevaluate them a little bit.
But this could be one of those games that then
has you swinging back in the other direction where they
come out and win thirty eight to fourteen, and all
of a sudden, we're sitting here saying to ourselves, maybe
this team is legit again.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
There you go, that's what did you say? The best
audio in the world of sports? A little bit later
in the show than usual seven oh four five, seven
ninety six ten hit us up on the FanDuel text line.
Before we step aside, we go to flounder on the headlines.

Speaker 8 (34:00):
All right, Kyle, and let's go to last night's game
in the NFL, the Seattle Seahawks winning at the gun
at Jason Myers field goal. The difference in that one
is they win twenty three to twenty Sam Donald eighteen
to twenty six, two hundred and forty two yards and
a touchdown. Kenneth Walker nineteen carries for eighty one yards.
And while this may have been one of the uglier games,

(34:23):
this wasn't a sexy game by any stretch of the imagination.
The Seahawks three and one on the season, and Sam Darnold,
by the way, we talked about Baker Mayfield playing some
really good football, another former Panthers quarterback playing really well.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Right now, do the Vikings ultimately regret moving often?

Speaker 4 (34:39):
Yes, one hundred percent. You do think so. I think so.

Speaker 8 (34:42):
Because I gotta be honest with you, and I know
he wasn't great this past weekend. I think they will
seriously consider, depending on how he plays over the next
couple of weeks, before JJ McCarthy is healthy, they will
consider playing Carson Wentz if that offense continues.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
To look good.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
Yeah, Listen, guys get better as they get older. If
they stick with it, they get second opportunities. I know
Carson Wentz is not the most beloved guy in the world,
not extremely well liked at a couple of spots, certainly
not in Philadelphia. But you know, guys stick around. They
they get better, they get older, they get wiser, and
I think that's what we're watching.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
I also think that offense.

Speaker 8 (35:15):
I mean, well, it's Kevin O'Connell is a monster when
it comes to that, and I'm hurt, Kyle. I'm hurt
because that could have been Sam Howell in there, but
he got traded in the He got traded in the preseason.

Speaker 5 (35:25):
Damn it.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Yeah, I thought that they I thought there was a
time that Seattle might turn to him, but instead they've
they've gone with Sam Darnold. So far it's working out
for him. We'll come back and wrap up the show.
Sports Radio ninety two to seven w f and Z.
Nothing one final time, Sports Radio ninety two seven wfn Z.

(35:56):
Hope everybody out there has a wonderful weekend. Apparently the
rain is at it in but all that means for
some of us is an excuse to lay on the
couch and watch college football on a Saturday tomorrow. So
take advantage of it if you're able. As we wrap
up the show, no rewind today, but a reminder to
get us wherever you get your podcast to Apple, Spotify, Google,
just search the Kyle Bailey Show, download and subscribe.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
We show would appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Let's pick some winners in college football before we get
out of here on a Friday. If you want you
want to do that final Let's pick some winners here.
Let's start with tonight's game Florida State, number eight in
the country, at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville. Virginia is a
six and a half point underdog in this game, though
they have become something of a sexy upset pick. Give
me your final score prediction.

Speaker 8 (36:38):
Here, which, Yeah, I think Virginia's offense is really good
this year. They're a much better team than they've been
in years past. I think they're going to make a
bowl game this year. But this is a little too
much to ask against Florida State, and I think Florida
State might still hear some of these people that are
picking Virginia to pull the upset, think that hey, we
still got to prove something. Think Castellanos is just healthy enough.

(37:00):
I think they escape with a thirty to twenty seven
win over Virginia.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Wow, Okay, I said earlier thirty to twenty three. I'm
going to revise that. I'm going to say thirty four
to twenty one Florida State Tech. Okay, I think I
think they get a late touchdown to make it look
a little bit good at defensive showing for them too
against the high powered offense. Yeah, I think they forced
a turnover or two. But I also think Virginia has
a really hard time getting off the field tonight and
have had a hard time stopping to run. So I'm

(37:25):
going to say a late touchdown Florida State wins at
thirty four to twenty one. All right, let's skip to tomorrow.
Georgia Tech at Wake Forest noon on ESPN. Georgia Tech
unbeaten four and zero, number sixteen team in the country,
going to Winston Salem.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
What are your thoughts.

Speaker 8 (37:39):
Yeah, I think Georgia Tech this is one of those
games where if they're not careful, they could be caught sleeping.
I definitely think that Wake Forest is a team that
does have the ability to run the football on you
if you're not careful with Demon Claiborne.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
I think there will be some.

Speaker 8 (37:52):
Moments in this game early on where you might think, hey,
are we in for a good game here? But I
think Georgia Tech is just way too physical than the Trenches.
I think that run game is amazing with Haines King
and Jamal Haynes.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
I think they'll show you that tomorrow.

Speaker 8 (38:06):
They'll show that they are a team that should be
talked about in the competition to make it to Charlotte
and a team that could be in the College Football Playoff.
I like them thirty one to thirteen over Wait Forest, Okay,
thirty one to th that's yeah, that's somewhere in range.
I just think again, it's another game that Wake Forest
is going to have a hard time hanging in the trenches.

(38:27):
I think I actually think Jake Dickard I've seen enough
so far that I'm actually optimistic for the job that
he's going to do it Wake Coast. I like coach Dickard, Yeah, yeah, definitely,
But I think tomorrow they you know, they really get
worked along the line of scrimmage I'm going to take
Georgia Tech to win that game thirty one to ten.
All right, let's see noon tomorrow on Fox Southern cal
Illinois number twenty three versus number twenty one. Big story here,

(38:47):
of course, USC four to oh are they legit this year?
Or is this another pretender season? And then Illinois number
twenty three tumbling from number nine in the country last
week after losing by fifty three to kurtz Netti and Indiana.
Who do you like here? And this one's tough. It's
gonna be a great game. I think between both of
these sides, I think USC saw what their offense is

(39:09):
able to do. The thing that concerns me a little
bit about them is they I mean, they struggled to
stop Michigan State's offense. Michigan State not exactly a team
that is going to have one of the best offenses
in the Big Ten this year. If they struggle again
like that, are they going to be able to win
the game. This game is at home for Illinois. I
think they're gonna be pod about what happened last week.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
I think you will see that in this game.

Speaker 8 (39:32):
So I like a high scoring affair between these two
sides again. I don't think it's gonna be like crazy.
I don't think we're in for an insane game. But
give me Illinois to win this one thirty eight to
twenty eight over USC.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
By the way, USC is six and a half point
favorite in this game on the road.

Speaker 8 (39:51):
Yeah, a lot of people are off of the Illinois
bandwagon after that one. But I mean, the thing is,
and I get that they might not be as good
as we thought they were going to be. They did
take Duke and just dismantle them. I think that this
is still a good football team. They just had a
bad week last week.

Speaker 4 (40:06):
I'm with you on that.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
USC quarterback Jayden Mayava is really playing well, so we'll
see what happens there.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
A few more of these.

Speaker 3 (40:13):
We've got number four, LSU at the Grove, Oxford, Mississippi
taking on Lane Kiffin and ole Miss. Of course, the
big storyline this week lane Kiffin's daughter dating LSU linebacker
went weeks, to which Lane himself responded to take the
over in this game. You're never going to beat Lane
on social media. But also, Ole Miss favored by a
point and a half in this game. I'll just tell

(40:34):
you I'm rolling with Trinidad Chambliss and ole Miss in
this game.

Speaker 8 (40:37):
I mean, Trinidad Chambliss has been playing incredibly well. It
looks like he's probably going to be the starter moving
forward unless he shows something different and that they're going
to stick with him because of how well he's been playing.
So I think this is a game that being at
home will really help ole Miss. I think the Rebels
find a way to win this one because this just

(40:57):
this feels like a classic spot where Ryan Kelly comes
up short.

Speaker 5 (41:01):
Right.

Speaker 8 (41:02):
They're off to a great start, people think that, you know,
there still are some areas that they can get better
in and they get exposed in this game. I think
ole Miss gets the win twenty seven to twenty four
over LSU.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
All right, real quick, let' skip to the night games,
the two biggest games on the schedule. We'll start with
Oregon Penn State Wide out Game and Happy Valley. Dante
Moore seen this before though. On the Oregon side, he's
off to a good start though they've played some Cupcakes.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
Who do you like here?

Speaker 8 (41:26):
Yeah, that's the thing. They played some Cupcakes out of
the gate. I think it's gotten them in a good
rhythm offensively, but how does that work and what could
be one of the toughest environments that you face the
entire season. I think Penn State is coming out motivated.
They haven't looked great early on, they still are running
the football incredibly well, though. I think this is going

(41:48):
to be a very physical game in the trenches. I
think that's probably going to be the difference in this one.
I think again you could see a high scoring game
because that's the type of game that Oregon's gonna play.
Penn State's been able to match that at times under
Drew Aller. I think he puts together a strong performance
because it's the regular season, not the postseason where he
fails to show up.

Speaker 4 (42:07):
I think Penn State wins this one. Thirty eight thirty one,
I real quick.

Speaker 3 (42:10):
Georgia Alabama, I've got the dogs with the walk off
field goal tomorrow night, thirty four to thirty one.

Speaker 8 (42:15):
Oh how about that? Yeah, that might be a little
high scoring between those two. I think it's probably going
to be somewhere in the twenties. Give me Georgia to
