This is the Kyle Bailey Show, powered by Victory Chevy Charlotte,

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Victory Chevy Charlotte your Silverado destination.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
All right, So I'm not going to put all of
his business out there, but I did have Hurricane carl
on the FanDuel text line ask me about the spread
this weekend between the Panthers and the Cowboys, and he
sent me some info based on some picks that he
had purchased and what I thought about them. And it's
interesting because I have noticed that Carolina seems like a
little bit of a sexy pick for some people in
(00:42):
the larger gambling community this weekend with the Cowboys coming
to town. So I would ask you out there, the
line is currently three and a half. I believe you
could get it three to three and a half depending it,
but let's just call it a field goal here in Carolina.
Which way would you go? Seven oh four five, seven
ninety six ten, three points spread? We'll just make it
even three point spread. Which way do you go on
(01:03):
this one? Panthers Cowboys Sunday at the bank? Which way
do you lean? Seven oh four, five seven ninety six ten?
Hit us up on the FanDuel text line and let
us know our number three emanating live from the Chandler
Volta Studios. The Carolinas Personal injury Lawyers one call. That's
all go to CV Injurylaw dot com. That's Cvinjurylaw dot com.
If I was giving out gambling advice, I would tell
(01:25):
Panthers fans or like, if somebody outside this listening audience
or outside the fan base asked me, I would say,
don't touch that game.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
That's what I would say.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Nate Wimberley WBTV is back in studio for his Friday visit.
It seems that you would agree with that. I would
agree with that.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
But if if you put a gun to my hand
and say, hey, you gotta make a choice, I'm going
Dallas to win this straight up. It's not gonna be close. Close,
it's not gonna be close. Really, that's what I will bed. Oh,
I'm thinking that, you know the Dallas wins. Yeah, okay,
until this team shows me. Yeah, that's fair. I'm with
you there. I would if if I absolutely had to,
(02:01):
I'm pick of Dallas everything. I'm riding everything on that
one because this team just hain't showed me anything of
being able to be consistent. We got a good performance
last week, what are we going to see this week?
That's it, that's the problem. That's why I was like,
if you made me have to do it, I'd be like, yeah,
I'm going Dallas.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Okay about that? All right?
Speaker 3 (02:18):
And typically when I ask a question like that, there's
an immediate pop of answers. People, I don't think we
want to touch this. They don't want to touch you.
You don't.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
You just don't know what you want to get.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
I think I was watching First Take this morning, Ryan
and Ryan Clark was like, Dallas, I mean, Dallas needs
to be on upset alert. But it depends on which
Carolina you get. So there's always there, always is a
butt with this team. Yeah, there's a caveat which Carolina
are you gonna get? And that's but you know, Ryan
Clark says, hey, Dallas needs to be on high alert.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Okay, I don't know about that. Jordan and Ally's coming
at you. He said, you can't take that. He called
you the Atlanta clown boy. Fan opinion on the Panthers
win this weekend. Damn, dude, Like Nate's been around for
a long time, Why are you coming to his neck
like that.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
It's all good. I can handle it.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
I know you can handle but you're you're a distinguished
guest of the show. You know, you know I don't
let my fanoly ruin with I like my money. I
like my money and I'm not gonna let my fandom
getting away of me doing my job.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Oh see, I set you up to clap.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
So there it is, like dude, like, yes, I'm Atlanta fan,
but I'm very you know, down the middle with this team.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
I call it the way I see it, and you know.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
I think yours is the pragmatic pick ndred percent of
perhaps people like yours is the pragmatic pick. And the
way I phrased it the last two weeks, nobody wants
to touch the money with this team.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Jordan, by the way, following up saying I like Nate,
just giving him some trash talk so that you know
everybody likes Nate. But I think it's a pragmatic approach.
So that's why I said, if I had buddies, like
outside the market, KB, where should I lay some money
this weekend? I don't know, I'm not I don't want
to tell you the wrong thing because I don't know
what team shows up this weekend. I don't know if
they show up prepared. I don't know if Bryce is
going to hold onto the football to begin the game
(03:57):
like that. Those are the things that we just can't
count on with Carol. Will they show up on time
for the game and will they dig themselves in early home?
Speaker 1 (04:04):
And let me throw another one at you. We know
they can run the ball with Rico downam, will he
run the ball? Will he come out? And to want
to make this a passing best right? We don't know
how how is Kanal is going to call this game?
There's so many inconsistencies about this team. That's why you
just you just don't know. You just show up and
just like wonder what we're going to see today?
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Yes, yes, it's just like one hundred percent. That Panthero says,
take the over, that's the lock smoke if you checked
the over recently, because the forty nine and a half
is the over, I would actually tend to agree with
him on that forty nine and a half. I'm taking
the overall day in this game. I think it's still
stand at that. But let me make sure we're I'm
looking at I'm looking at it right now, it's still
forty nine and.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
A half with both defenses. Man, yeah, Ey's offenses can
take off.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Here's the thing, I actually think Carolina's defense could have
a good day on Sunday. I mean, the Bears held
this offense to fourteen points a couple of weeks ago.
I know they dropped forty on Green Bay, so I
know what they're capable of. But they're still banged up
up front. And I think the way Derek Brown's playing
right now, in concert with Ashn Robbin and who's also
playing well, I think those guys that could have a
real impact on this game. No CD Lamb, you know,
(05:06):
I think largely the secondary is covered pretty well. Shaw
Smith Wade looks like he's actually going to play this weekend.
So George Pickens is a problem, There's no doubt about it.
But I wouldn't be shocked if the secondary has a
good day.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Jake Fersus is a pretty good title and what can
this team not do good times?
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Well, Darren Waller got off to a great start, but
then he disappeared in the second half.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
At times he can't cover the tight end. So I'm like,
just hold on and they got a pretty good running
a game. They got a pretty good running attack too.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Although I do wonder, you know, after what we saw
last week, they just switched the responsibilities of the linebackers
and both of them look instantly better as a result
of it. Trevin Wallace, the second year kid, is now
calling the play. He's calling the defense with the green
dot on his helmet, and he felt more comfortable and
looked better. And then Christian roseboom, they take the responsibility
off his plate and he leads the team in tackles
(05:50):
and he looks like a starting linebacker for a week.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
So hey, look it worked. Whatever they did, it worked.
Just keep rolling with it. I don't even have a
good explanation for that. Keep it rolling, keep doing it,
keep doing what you're doing right there, because what you know,
the way they played in the second half, man, it
was out. That defense was outstanding in the second half.
It was just against Miami that was fantastic. So yeah,
just keep it going, keep going, and I'm gonna throw
(06:12):
something else at you. Cavante Turpin, yes, the return man
for Dallas, looks like he's not gonna play with an
injured foot. You know, special teams has been kind of
a question mark this year for the Carolina Panthers. But
that's good news if he doesn't play, and he's a
dynamic weapon, so you take that away. You know, some
things are starting to stack towards Carolina favors.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
So yeah, can they finish That's my big question for
this offense. Can you finish drives? You can't kick field
goals and win. This came on, not.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Against this team.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
You can't kick field goals. Mike and Morris Will just
said he's taking the Cowboys. He's teasing them up to
minus six, says, Cowboys scoring touchdowns while the Panthers kickfield
goals twenty one to nine. First half thirty three sixteen
the final score. That's my big fear is that I
do think that Carolina moves the football between the twenties.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Do they finish in the red zone?
Speaker 1 (07:00):
I think the one thing I'd take away from this
this last game against Miami, the rookies in the game
winning drive, making all those plays. Evans Jimmy Horn on
the fourth and five, you know, Rico cramps up, Eat
comes in, runs it down to the four yard line.
I love the way the rookie stepped up in the
game when the game was on the line. Who made
(07:20):
the most plays the rookie. Yeah, that's a very good sign.
Speaker 5 (07:23):
It's a very good day for Dan Morgan too, by
the way, absolutely absolutely, So, you know you're seeing some
of the signs, but it all comes back to consistency.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
We noticed this team has it in them. They just
got to consistently do it. And that's what we're all
kind of waiting on, is when is this team consistently
going to do it? And hopefully this is this week.
They had a good step last week. Let's hope they
don't stumble up and kick the blocks and it's like, oh, well,
back in square one. Maybe they can do to get
this consistency going and put on a good show on
(07:52):
Sunday and win the game.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
And here's another thing too, Does it rain Sunday? And
if so, who does that favor? Does it favor Carolina?
Speaker 2 (08:00):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
It depends on how how much rain it is. But
if it's just like some passing showers here and there,
it doesn't effect.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
But if it's wet enough that the football stays wet
throughout the course of the game, it.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Just becomes a ground and pound game. Yeah, you know
that would once again stack can probably favor of the
Carolina Panthers because we know Rico is gonna go on
and go ahead and prove a point. He's gonna run
as violently as he did this past Sunday against Miami
to show the Cowboys what they're missing, you know. But
just like I said, cowboys can run the ball too
with Williams in the backfield. And I wonder if Miles
(08:31):
Sanders is gonna play, if he's gonna play.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
No, he's not, He's not playing, Okay.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
Yeah, Actually, Steven Jones just revealed on one to five
point three to fan about an hour ago, Miles Sanders
is out for the season.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Oh, I thought he was headed to IR was the
latest I saw. He's done for the year. That's according
to the reporting.
Speaker 6 (08:47):
Joe person Court tweeted John Macatta's tweet that apparently he
said Miles Sanders knee ankle out.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
For the season. Wow.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
That's a tough break.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
That could be.
Speaker 6 (08:56):
I mean, that could be a career there, considering how
the last few years have gone for Miles Sanders.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah, could it could. But I mean, just back to
that rain part real quick. I actually like the Panthers
defensive front in that situation better than than Dallas's defensive
front in that situation.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
I mean, so you know, look, if they I wouldn't
be I wouldn't be surprised that they win. What would
surprise me is if they get blown out. I just
think that, you know that. I think this team should
be past that point. They should be able to put
on a good, a good game this Sunday. There's no
excuse to get blown it, exactly none. I mean, you've
done that, We've done that. Don't go back to that
chapter in the book. Move on from that and play
(09:30):
a good, a good game, a good competitive game, and
if you lose it, you just lose. That's the That's
life in the NFL. Everybody's you know, is pretty much
on part, should be pretty much on part. That's how
the NFL is built. So just play a good game,
have a good performance, and you know, if you lose,
you lose. If you win, fantastic. I wouldn't be surprised,
are shocked if they beat the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Panther Cliff said, I don't know, guys, b y nine
with a wet ball question mark. Somebody called him baby
hands earlier in the show again. You don't have to
care about this, but, like I know, I've said it
multiple times, he's got bigger hands than he's the same
size or slightly bigger hands than Patrick Mahomes. I don't
know why he doesn't have the Gerber hands. I don't
know what that thing's all about. But like that's it's
not really a thing. I don't I don't think it's
(10:09):
just he does need to go out and play. He
needs to go I'm just trying to help Nate because
he's laughing right now. He needs to go out and
impact what babe gerber Hands come on?
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Anyway, So.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
Hey, real quick, what are your thoughts on this movie
coming out with Channing Tatum The roof Man movie. You
were hearing the in Charlotte when it had happened like this,
the story of what Jeffrey Manchester was living in toys
r Us robbing McDonald's. What do you think of this?
Apparently it's a bunch of local celebrities in it.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, we we've got our chief engineer,
not chief engineer, chief photographer or not uh Coy Schmidt.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
He's in the movie.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Really, he helped with the actual setting up and blocking out
some of the scenes and stuff because the director and
I heard him talking about this last night on your
side of tonight's show. Uh, he wanted to seem as
really as possible. So Coy was in the movie and
actually would sit there with the guy and say, hey,
we wouldn't set up a shot like this as a
news as a reporter and a photographer. And then he's like, well,
(11:08):
how would you do it? So you know it, that's
a it's a pretty nice touch to that movie, to
where he wanted it to look like real, the way
that was set up back in the day and the
way BTV and everybody else set up to cover this
this story.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
But man, it's pretty neat. It's awesome. It's neat that
the Charlotte.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Has this kind of story and it's featured on the
big screen, so it's pretty neat.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Yeah, who else is in it? Smoked Channing Tatum and
who else? Hereston dun Here's Peter Dinglish.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
That's it?
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Yeah, yeah, yeah him? What's his name? In Game of Thrones? Again,
I don't know. I never watched that's try you never
watched the show, but.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
I remember he was the East Evil Elf and Elf
remember you're.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
N Yeah, it's gonna buy. It'll come to me what
his name was in the game of thrown. Somebody will
text me on the text line anyway. Nate Wemberley wb
TV back in studio on a Friday, Hornets to play
two preseason games. We talked to Charles Lee yesterday. There's
nothing I'm not going to ask you what you've seen.
Nobody cares. I can't tell you how little I care
about NBA preseason basketball. They chucked up one hundred threes
(12:05):
and that game Sunday in North Charleston Coliseum, folks, I
do not care. I'm glad it's back, but I don't
miss me with any analysis of a preseason game because
those dudes are just out there stretching their legs, getting
some cardio in, saying hi, jacking up shots.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
That's all they're doing.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
But Brandon Miller did get voted on the annual NBA
GM survey is second to be have a breakout season
in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
What do you think of that?
Speaker 1 (12:28):
I like it, and I think it could possibly be
that way. You know, he's a talent. He's a talent
and took a step back last year and a little
bit of that maybe had to do with, you know,
a new coach and a new way that he wanted
him to play, and you know, missed the last part
of last year. Maybe he just sat back and just
kind of observed and looked at some things. And he's
(12:48):
back and he's ready to go. Yeah, Brandon Miller is
going to be a player for this team. This team
is really I I don't want to sound I think
he's more important than Dan LaMelo Ball is to me.
His performance could really elevate this team to another level.
And I think with everything that they they've done this offseason,
I think if LaMelo Ball gets hurt, as long as
(13:11):
Brandon Miller stays healthy, I think this team is going
to be okay. I think Colin Sixton can come in
and plug that hole. No, he's not LaMelo Ball, but
he can still. He's an NBA veteran that can affect
the game in many ways. It wouldn't crush them if
LaMelo Ball gets hurt, and as long as Brandon Miller's
out there and everybody else stays healthy.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Between LaMelo Brandon, Sexton, Trey Man like, you have guard depth.
You have real guard depth on this.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Team, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
So that's why I'm like, they protected themselves from a potential,
you know, one guy catastrophically going down and being out
for the rest of the season. I think they can
still hold water in this East that's pretty wide open,
it's pretty up in it, pretty much up in the air.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
So that's why I feel good about this team. I'm
not all the way in, but.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Because the East is so hurt up, it's just so hurt.
Why not the Charlotte Horns this year? Yeah, Pacers are down,
you know, you know, you know, Halliburton, Boston's down, you know,
Jason Tatum, why not the cholt Horns this year? So,
you know, why not any of them? Like you know
(14:12):
you're here steven A that the Knicks are going to
the NBA Finals?
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Why not in this East? You know? I can't look
at him and like, are you crazy?
Speaker 4 (14:18):
Like no, The only reason I can think why not
is the center position.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
That's the only reason why I think why not? Is
the center position?
Speaker 3 (14:25):
And I'd love to be wrong about that, And I
hope the center position has some good things coming now
real quick, high school football tonight. Obviously we're getting late
into this season. Week by week. Let's just start with
the game of the week. What's the biggest game in
the area tonight for you?
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Our game of the week is King's mount and Ashbrook
and is kind of starting that round robin between the Ashbrook,
Kings Mountain Crest. Those are the three undefeated teams in
the league plays. So that round robin starts tonight with
Ashbrook and Kings Mountain. Kind Of an interesting thing about
this one, a couple of players from King's Mountain transferred
to Ashbrook, so they're going to get to take on
their old team tonight. So that's going to be a
(14:58):
really really good game tonight.
Speaker 7 (15:00):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
And and look, we're at a point now where teams
are going to separate themselves at the top of the
of the standings in the Greater Metro Conference Olympic West Cobaris,
the winner of that game takes over sole possession of
first place. In the Southern Peak, Shelby Lincolnton, the winner
of that game, takes over sole possession of first place.
We're at that time of the year right now where
teams can really separate themselves and put themselves in a
(15:21):
in a great position to win the conference title.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
You know, you win the conference sider, but that doesn't
guarantee you a spot in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
It's the RPI.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
So a lot of games tonight or you know, yeah,
we got some for first place, but a lot of
teams right now are jopping, jocking for positions to get
their their RPI up to either get in or to
better themselves as far as a playoff seating. So you know,
the first place is not on the line in a
lot of these games, but it's a very important game
because you got to get that r.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
P I up if you hope to make the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Oh yeah, there's some big ones out there tonight. I
mean you mentioned Chambers Independence. I believe there are a
second ago we had what North mackin Butler tonight both
three and three team still in the hunt, right.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Yeah, Butler Butler's this is their first home game of
the season. They were put in turf so I talked
to coach Hails earlier this week. This is their first
home game of the season. The turf is in, the
turf is down, so uh, that's a big game. You know,
once again RPI getting yourself set up to possibly make
a run at making the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
This is a mega game for both teams.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Yeah, it is Nate. Good to see you, buddy, You too.
You sorry for the heckler's on the TEXTI whatever.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Like I said, I love my money and I ain't
gonna let my fanom getting away of me eating and
keeping a roof over my head.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
I always remember, where can they watch it?
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Tonight with eleven twenty tonight on WBTV Football Friday Night.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
We're coming back and taking phone calls.
Speaker 7 (16:39):
Now.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
It's a good time to get one in Panthers college football,
even hornets. I see Steve's up first on the phone lines.
When we come back. Steve wants to talk hornets, but
we'll take your phone calls.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Next. Sports Radio ninety two to seven wfn Z.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Panthers Cowboys Sunday, don't forget Countdown to Kickoff ten am
to one pm, the only Panthers pre game coverage you'll
ever need, Live from the WFNZ Doghouse, powered by Jack Daniels.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
Last time I was out there, it was a massive party.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
We hope to make it one again, although the weather
could be a little bit uncooperative on Sunday, so bring
the ponchos, bring the rain coats, and try to drown
out the Cowboys fans if you can. I don't think
the weather's going to keep them away. They are only
coming from Gastonia, after all. So if Panthers fans get
out their party with us looking forward to it, maybe,
just maybe this team can find a way to bounce back,
and we'll not bounce back, but avoid having to bounce
(17:36):
back again off an ugly loss. And instead of you know,
bouncing back, maybe follow up a win with a good performance.
That'd be nice. I mean, is it too much to
ask for two in a row? I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Well.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
I guess we'll find out what we get. Why are
you snickering over there? What are you laughing at?
Speaker 4 (17:49):
Sorry?
Speaker 6 (17:49):
I just saw where our good friend Eric Collins, who
was calling deep Panthers win on Sunday. He's not to
win an NFL game this weekend. He did the Horns
game last night. I just saw the college game he's
calling this weekend.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Iowa at Wisconsin? That man.
Speaker 6 (18:07):
Someone just tweeted the siccos community on a committee on
Twitter saying this is like putting an F one driver
on an electric scooter with a dying pattern.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
If any game needed Eric Collins to jazz it up
a little bit. Iowa, Wisconsin was the one out. By
the way, He's averaged forty nine yards for punt. That's
really good, Collie, Miss Molly, that's incredible. Oh, it's incredible.
All right, Well, ec good luck this weekend, Buddy. Also,
can Rico doubtell follow up on a massive game against Miami.
His former boss, Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys back
(18:40):
on Tuesday, talked about his former running back Rico Daddell.
Speaker 7 (18:43):
Well, it shouldn't be negative about Rico. I don't think
that you'd find anybody that didn't think Rico is a
pop back in the NFL. And I've always thought he
really was a unique players, explosive player. Verry I used.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
That word, violent player.
Speaker 7 (19:05):
And we got really good production out of Rico, more
than he had had because he had always battled injury
and he's a good back, make no mistake about it,
and he got a big offer to go. We felt
that the backs that were potentially available to us at
(19:26):
the time he signed with Carolina, we thought we had
a chance to get a back, and of course we
did in Williams, but we thought we had a chance
to address.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
That and we did.
Speaker 7 (19:40):
And I don't wish him well out here against Sunday,
but I will tell you this, I wish him well.
He was always one of my favorite backs, all.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Right, Jerry with a lot of flattering things to say
about Rico O'Donnell. Yeah, I mean, if everybody's taking a
more diplomatic approach. Ever since Rico last week said buckle up,
nobody's really pushed it any further with the bulletin board material.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
And I'll say Schottenheimer did a good job Toos like, oh,
we'll buckle up. So I think, Look, I think he's
determined and wants to really prove Dallas wrong. But I
also don't think he hates him because, like I said earlier,
he was a UDFA.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
Yeah he didn't really do that. They gave him a chance.
Speaker 6 (20:16):
Yeah, they gave him a chance, and he slowly but
surely climbed his way up the depth chart. In last year,
when it was a contract year, he bawled out. So
I understand maybe he thought, hey, are you're gonna give
me some more love? I didn't do bad for you guys,
that did good. But I also think too, he wouldn't
be in this situation if it wasn't for Dallas in
the first place.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
Yeah, you're right about that. You're your one hundred percent right.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
And I'm asking you, know, of course, for your prediction
your Monday Headlines Today seven oh four five, seven oh
ninety six ten. Hit me up with yours. I haven't
seen a ton of bravado. I haven't seen much really
confidence period in the Monday Headlines Today conversation today, So
I'll reignite it again Monday Headlines Today, seven oh four, five,
seven oh ninety six ten. What you got, What's gonna happen?
(20:55):
Give me your prediction for this game? Do you think
Carolina follows up a win with a good performance? Can
they do it? Or are you among those thinking that
they're gonna get run out of the building because they
can't keep up in a track meet with a Cowboys
offense that has largely been firing on all cylinders so
far this season. Fan guy Dave told me earlier Monday
headline doubt Old doubles down, former Cowboy runs wild against
(21:16):
old team in rainy Charlotte Stunner. I like that he
got really specific rainy Charlotte Stunner, bicycle heerd said Monday headline,
Rico leaves his mark in Panther win thirty one to
twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
That's a good one. I like that one too.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
We had Mountain Max speaking of the weather, says k Beat,
does a possible rain game favor the Panthers.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
I think it could. I do think it could.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
But that's the best I got right now is that
it could, because I don't we haven't seen enough of
this team run the ball effectively consistently, and we've also
seen the head coach at times a band in the run.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
So do I think it could benefit them? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Love the fact that Trevor etn got involved in the
run game a little bit last week, had the big
run to pick up the first down to set them
up first and goal on that go ahead drive that
would ultimately be the game winner. I think that, you know,
he's starting to get more comfortable. Cheba Hubbard's not going
to play if you're just tuning in. No Taylor Moten
either on Sunday with the elbow, He's not gonna go,
(22:14):
which means Josh Nyman will be his understudy. Just fill
in Sunday against the Cowboys. I'd imagine that means they're
probably going to run the football off the left side
behind Nikiyakwanu and Damian Lewis a little bit more. But
Nyman's gonna have to do his part in the run game,
and I think he's capable of that. The big liability
there is him in the past game and the pass
protection game. He's he's not he has not been good enough.
(22:35):
Let's go to the phone lines. Andrew's up first, Andrew,
what's going on, dude?
Speaker 8 (22:40):
Jab?
Speaker 9 (22:40):
I hope the headline is we get a big W
over Big d this weekend. That's the ultimate headline we want.
But I'm really excited for this Panthers game. I'm intrigued
by the matchup because on paper, we should get a
win or at least be competitive in this game. This
will be a great dress rehearsal for the Bills game
coming up later with how the fan environment's going to be,
(23:01):
maybe losing home field advantage to a certain extent. What
I really just want to see is Bryce stand in
control of the game. And you mentioned it earlier, us
not having these giant swings to where we go back
and forth and we're losing, we're winning, we're losing, We're
winning by giant margins, and I think that's what torments
Panthers fans the most. It's seeing those giant swings and
(23:22):
us not being competitive in games. If we could fix that,
then I think you have a happy fan base that's
content and ultimately optimistic about this season because we've got
a good core. It's just can we build on this momentum.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Yeah, it's a great point there at the end. Thank
you Andrew, great phone call. Appreciate it. Enjoy the game
like Cowboys Sunday, it's winnable. The Panthers are home dogs,
which a lot of betters do love. By the way,
Panthers have become kind of sexy and the betting markets
to some. But you know, Cowboys are beatable. You give
them the benefit of the doubt coming in they're the
better team, but they're beatable. Jets on the road at East.
(23:54):
Wouldn't it be so Panthers, by the way, to win
this game on Sunday, then turn around and lose to
the Jets next week with an opportunity to go above
five hundred. That and the Jets are coming back from
London right with out of buy and they are winless.
They're the last winless team there's one thing that makes
me scared about the game outside of that too. It's
just talk about how you take advantage of the games
where you can maybe shock some people, but also take
(24:15):
advantage of games where you should win in the first place.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
That's one thing. And also winning on the road.
Speaker 6 (24:19):
And I'd like to mention I am scared to death
of that game because the MetLife Stadium turf is notorious
for taking out players.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Yes, oh yeah, it's a great point.
Speaker 6 (24:28):
And with multiple people like I don't know if Jalen
Kocher is playing this week or next week Cuba also,
you know, dealing with some amstring issues. It just makes
me extremely nervous for that game next week. I'm not
trying to speak, but like it's in the back of
my mind. These next two are critical. I mean, the
Cowboys you can beat them. Jets, you can beat them.
Then you got the Bills at home. I mean, I
know they lost at home to Patriots Sunday night, but
(24:49):
the Bills are very very good. You got the Bills,
you got the Packers on the road on the road
in Green Bay, Saints at home, uh, Falcons on the road,
Niners on the road after for that.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
And the Niners have been able to overcome their injuries.
Speaker 6 (25:03):
Like, yeah, it's not just rock Perty, it's that that's
almost the entire team. For crying out loud, Yeah yeah,
uh kay, town Steve says, Dude, the Panthers are my
heart and soul, but there's no way in hell they
are going to beat Dallas. Beat Dallas, who has the
number one offense in the NFL. They also have the
worst defense in the NFL. So you're right.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
If you make mistakes, you fall behind early, and you
got to try to win a track meet there, they're
gonna be in trouble. But if you can score first,
get an early lead, run the football, and I'm looking
for Derek Brown and Ashwan Robinson to have a day
up front. They can win this game. Will they I
don't know, man, I'm not gonna say they will because
they're gonna make me look foolish.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
We've been here too many times. But this game's winnable.
Speaker 6 (25:45):
Honestly, I don't think the biggest X factor in this
game's up front on the trenches for Derek Brown. I
think it's a big factor. Don't get me wrong. You
think it's linebackers dat And I also think how The
biggest guy I'm looking for is George Pickens. If he
has a big game, that's probably spells disaster for Carolina.
Probably so, because that doesn't that means that he's getting
on Mike Jack or JC. You're depending on the formation.
(26:05):
If he doesn't have a big game, that could spell
a win for Carolina. Could Let's go back to the
phone lines. Mitch is up next, Mitch? What's going on?
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Uh?
Speaker 8 (26:13):
Yeah? My question is with EJ. And if Carolina does
have a bad performance again, how much more time do
you give EJ versus having the three five versus the
four to three?
Speaker 2 (26:28):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (26:28):
Well, I mean the thing is like, I mean they're
technically a base three to four, but they play a
ton of nickel out there. I mean they've been a
lot they've been a lot better against the run the
last couple of weeks. Like, I don't know if his
firing is imminent just because they might have a bad
day on Sunday? Like, do you fire a guy because
he has a bad day against the number one offense
in the NFL?
Speaker 2 (26:46):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (26:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (26:47):
Well, my question is you're playing we're playing so much
zone defense and we're playing over ten years off, ten year,
ten yards off the ball, and it's like, you can't
do that to a team that's such a high power offense.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Yeah, I hear you. I appreciate the phone call. Have
a good weekend.
Speaker 6 (27:06):
Here's the problem. Sean mcdermot's defenses did that a lot.
They did, So it's just if you have the personnel.
I mean, I know that right there. So many people
want to go after three four, But how many of
these top defenses in the league right now are three
four defenses or run a lot of three four based e.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
Well, we've we've repeated the number a lot last year,
three or four of the top five defenses in the league,
we're three four defenses, Like this is technically a three
four base defense, but they're in nickel a ton. I mean,
we've had our gripes about the fact that i Varo
hasn't sent enough pressure the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
So I'd like to see some of that.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
You know, your your ability to play straight up man
two is also a little bit dependent upon the health
of your cornerbacks. Mike Jackson's questionable with rib injury this week.
Speaker 6 (27:45):
Like Dave said, he's had something like this before and
he seems like he's going to go to just wanted
to be precautious with him. But I mean, especially if
you feel the neede, like if you're not getting home
with some of the guys up front, you're gonna have
to send some pressure. Those guys are gonna have to
cover on the back end and man situations.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
You know, Kat, you got that, Cat, I got that.
I bet that's what you're gonna have to do with times.
Let's go back to the phone lines. We'll pivot real quick.
Steve apparently wants to talk Hornets and that's okay by me.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Steve. What's going on?
Speaker 10 (28:10):
Hey, KB, can you hear me?
Speaker 1 (28:11):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (28:11):
I got you, buddy, what's going on?
Speaker 10 (28:14):
Love the show?
Speaker 11 (28:14):
I listened to you guys every day on the way
home from work, and I listen to Mac and Bowen
every day on.
Speaker 8 (28:19):
The way to work.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
Well, we appreciate you, Thank you brother.
Speaker 9 (28:23):
Two questions for me as the Hornets season comes up
comes near One, what's your best guess as to what
the Hornets starting lineup is gonna be? And then one
thing I think is I think we have a lot
more depth this year than we have in previous years.
Speaker 10 (28:39):
So I'm curious of what you think was.
Speaker 9 (28:41):
Going to be our second string. I think we have
a lot of death, particularly guards, so I'm curious of
what you think our second string would be.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Oh yeah, well we've been talking about this. Thank you, Steve.
Appreciate the phone call. Buddy.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
All right, so you're starting LaMelo, You're starting Brandon Miller,
probably starting Miles, Yeah, Miles and Musa. That that's four
of your starting five.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
Yeah. I question is do you put Colin you want
to play.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Right right exactly?
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Do you play Sexton next to LaMelo, move Brandon to
the three.
Speaker 6 (29:17):
Or do you have Brandon playing at the two, Miles
playing at the three, yeah, and then kind of something
at the four of Moose at the five.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
If if Greg Williams were available, I think it would
change the calculus. And that's the problem, you know what
I mean? Like that we would be able to rattle
off the starting five like that.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Yeah. With this though, I don't know how he approaches it.
It's a great question.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
I will say Moosa is definitely going to be the
starting center based off watching last night.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Is can Nipple for sure coming in off the bench
to start? I would think so coming off eighty five percent.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
Sure.
Speaker 6 (29:45):
He's coming off with the bench, and that's perfectly fine.
That's where I think he needs to be to start
things off.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
So do you go Lamello, sext and Brandon Miles Musa.
That's a smaller lineup. Yeah, but it's athletic and you
can put up points. You could do that.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
By the way.
Speaker 6 (30:01):
He came in and made an instant impact coming off
the bench. The problem was yesterday you went with Trey
Mann in the starting lineup. Wow, and that was an
extremely small lineup too. That's yeah, that's the problem there too.
He's really trying to, you know, see which lineups work
the best right now, and that's the best thing for preseason.
But I will say Colin Sexton made an immediate impact
coming off the bench.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Him and Ca Nipple made a couple of.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
Plays that were very nice during last night's game, So
there was some good to come from yesterday.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
I think if if Grant Williams were healthy, it would
be LaMelo, Brandon Miles, Grant Musa. Yeah, that's what I
think you'd be. That's what I think you'd be looking at.
Be pretty cut and dry, yeah, probably so so Yeah,
I mean Charles canna get creative here.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
What matters Moreris, who's finishing games? Like?
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Who are your closing five?
Speaker 6 (30:45):
LaMelo callin sext and Brandon Miller, Yeah, Miles Moosa Maybe Plumbley,
but then Plumbley just I mean if you're in tight games. Yeah,
but yeah Plumbley two of the free plus Moosa is
gonna be get eforplaces too.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
That guy's just got a motor net. Won't quill tumbless.
He's more of a defensive liability.
Speaker 6 (31:04):
Yes, oh yeah, so LUSA, he'll overachieve considering his size.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Yeah so yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Now I'm looking forward to this to finding out how
Charles manages this starting lineup in this rotation to start
the year. I'm excited about that. Seven oh four five,
seven ninety six to ten. Hit us up on the
fan duel text line. Right now we go to smoke
on the headlines.
Speaker 6 (31:25):
All right, Kyle, this is a neogenics college football injury report.
Neogenics or all you have to lose is the pain, alright,
which got uh and the acc The biggest injury report
to look at across the conference is in the pit
FSU game, which we were talking about earlier.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
Squirrel wide is questionable.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
The wide receiver that we were afraid got trampled against Virginia,
Tommy Castellanos, is probable. And on the pit side, running
back Desmond Reed, who's been one of the biggest playmakers
in the ACC, is questionable for pitt And some good news.
This is not pertaining to the injury report, but it
does pertain the Florida State Footbaan Pritchard. If you remember
watching the he has been released from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital
(32:07):
and is being moved to the Brooks Rehabilitation Center in
Jacksonville for the next stage in his recovery process. A
big news for FSU player as well, but across the league,
with FSU and the a CC, it's pretty status quo
for the most part. But that's the game with the
biggest ramifications. And also you want to let people know
across the college football landscape. Jeohn Mattier probable. They say
(32:29):
game time decision, but he's likely going to play in
the Red River rivalry against Texas. And if you missed
the last hour, we said that Jeff Simms, the former
Georgia Tech quarterback, will be playing for Harrison the State
and their massive matchup against Utah.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
All right, we'll come back and wrap up the show.
Sports Radio ninety two seven wfn Z, all right, I
(33:04):
got a young man named Tucker von Cannon who hit
me up on Instagram who asked me this smoke, and
he was very polite and he sent me a very
lengthy message. So I want to bring it to the
airwaves and see what you think. He said he loves
the show listens every day, texted us yesterday about how
he thinks the Carolina Panthers need to bring back down
with the Sickness as the player introduction song, and also
believes the Panthers need to bring back the orange Panther
(33:27):
eyes behind the end zone and the Panther Tunnel. He
says he's tried to tell the Panthers this. He's even
sent some emails to No Avail and would like for
us to bring this up on the air. So I
don't know why when they drop down with the Sicknesses
player introduction song, I'm probably I don't know. I missed
it somewhere along the way, but you did. When I
brought this up to you say you also missed the
pantherized behind the end zone and they.
Speaker 6 (33:48):
Actually well they still have one behind one of the
end zones, but it's blue and it just doesn't look
as doesn't look like has to heart. And so when
you had those yellow, blackish real panthers' eyes back there,
sure it looked bad ass.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Yeah, but like I mean, it's kind of a choice
between the you know, the color palette, the scheme rather
you know, process blue and black, keeping everything uniform, but
also some outlier colors back there that don't really match
the uniforms but are more realistic. So I get what
he's I just wanted to He's a nice kid. I
want to read his email or his his message and
see what you thought about.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
Don't worry.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
But I've been on these radio airways for years saying
bred Whover needs to have his jersey retired on me.
They don't listen to me, and they do need to
put John Casey in the ring of honor. I don't
care what you hate say he would they would have
made the Super Bowl without him.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
To shut up.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
Okay, Well, earlier in the show, when we talked about
players that you felt bad for, you know, opposing players
that you felt pity on, is you know after last night?
So Ryan kirk Ring a mistake with Philadelphia. John Casey
actually came in a couple of times, which I would
lead me to believe that either A some people didn't
quite understand the assignment, but B there were some non
Panthers fans who texted in to say John Casey was
(34:50):
that guy for them.
Speaker 6 (34:51):
They always failed to mention to pass interference that happened
immediately after. But yeah, let's blame the guy who kicked
us what four or five game winners that year? Yeah, okay,
total sense idiots. Well actually got some Hey, I got
an answer for Tucker.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
DJ.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
Vinnie says they changed the intro song in twenty twenty one,
even experimented in twenty twenty changing the touchdown song, but
then switched back. So Tucker sang, it's been since sorry,
Vinnie sang since twenty twenty one.
Speaker 6 (35:13):
That's what I was going to guess, because I remember
they still did it in twenty nineteen when I heard
some stuff in the background. Okay, seven oh four and
never said down with the sickness is kind of on
the nose right now, don't you think. But it's also
just a great epic everybody wants to I mean, that
just fires you up. Extremely dark song when you look
at the lyrics store. Yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
Mister Research says they also cut off to keep pounding
here after only four rounds. Then they start playing music
and make people stop absolute trash. Okay, all right, listen,
some of this stuff has lost on me because I'm
working and I'm in the press, But so I don't
get to take in all of the game day experience
the same way that some fans do. So some of
this stuff slides through the cracks. I don't notice it
and apparently smokes the same way. All Right, we got
(35:53):
to catch you up on what you've missed. It's time
for the rewind and we go back to our number one,
chippattersoncbsports dot Com, CBS Sports Network in the Cover three
podcast on if he thinks South Carolina the game Cocks
can pull out an upset in Death Valley Saturday night
against LSU.
Speaker 11 (36:12):
I mean, Brian Kelly slats the podium and tried to
remind you about it, but I mean his seniors have
only lost one game in Tiger Stadium.
Speaker 10 (36:22):
At night, so it's I mean, I'm I'm so sorry
to be over.
Speaker 11 (36:26):
Simplistic about that, but I just don't see this South
Carolina team being able to do everything that it takes
to go into that building and win under the lights.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
In Baton Rouge.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
Later in the same conversation, here's Chip Patterson on the
chances of Alabama going down to Missouri in Colombia the
other Columbia coming up tomorrow.
Speaker 10 (36:46):
I think so, I mean, I'm on the Alabama side
of it. Yeah, I get like it.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Is the smart size.
Speaker 10 (36:52):
I know a lot of smart people who've made really
smart arguments for a while. You know, this is fair.
Not only is this fair, but that Missouri is a
good bet.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
And I get it, I hear you.
Speaker 10 (37:03):
But what was it I was I think it was
against Texas A and M.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Last year right.
Speaker 10 (37:07):
Where it was like forty two to ten. Missouri gets hot. Missouri,
you know, had some wins like I.
Speaker 11 (37:12):
Mean, Kansas kind of moved the ball on them a
little bit.
Speaker 10 (37:15):
South Carolina was in that thing late. I just think
that I've got a little bit more confidence in.
Speaker 11 (37:22):
The Crimson Tide now doing it on the road in
SEC play in this huge game.
Speaker 10 (37:27):
Who knows, we saw them, you know, wet themselves.
Speaker 11 (37:30):
In Tallahaffy, so they're capable of it. But I'm on
the Alabama's getting better. That Alabama's really good and probably
my if we were just saying our favorite team in
terms of like the one you would want to back,
I think Alabama's that team for.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Me in the SEC.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
I think, correct me, I from wrong smoke. I think
Miszoo's still averaging right around three hundred yards rushing per game.
I know Mott Hardy's been a monster. It's like a
buck forty buck forty five per game. He's on pace
right now to challenge the all time program record in
the single season on pace.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
I'll emphasize that.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
But like we talked about earlier, if Bama doesn't shut
that down early in the game, I think they lose.
Speaker 6 (38:05):
Oh and Como is going to be ready for that game.
This is the biggest game they've had. And yes, he's
seen a long time.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Later in the show, and finally, Nate Wimberley WBTV sports
anchor sports reporter saying he just wants the Panthers to
stay consistent this weekend.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
You know, you're seeing some of the signs, but it
all comes back to consistency. We noticed this team has
it in them. They just got to consistently do it.
And that's what we're all kind of waiting on, is
when is this team consistently.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
Going to do it? And hopefully this is this week.
They had a good step last week.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
Let's hope they don't stumble and kick the blocks and
it's like, oh, well, back at square one, maybe they
can do to get this consistency going and put on
a good show on Sunday and win the game.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
That's the ree wind. Look back into the show each
and every day as we wrap things up as a
reminder to get us wherever you get your podcast to Apple, Spotify, Google,
just search the Kyle Bailey Show, download and subscribe.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
We sure would appreciate it.

you're gonna make your market, You're gonna make life fun. Yeah, yeah,
I'll tip my cap to a Ryan Kirkring. I feel
(39:18):
really sorry for that kid. I really, I feel so
bad for him last night, so I'll tip my cap
to him. Hopefully better days ahead for that young man.
