Speaker 3 (00:51):
What's going on, Nate? How are you, Paul?
Speaker 4 (00:52):
I'm good man. I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
How do you assess this Lane Kiffen conundrum? Because we've
been talking about it during our time here. I think
he goes, but I don't think he should go.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
I actually think he's gonna stay.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
He really does.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
I think he's gonna stay. I hope you're right, I mean,
it's just a weird situation. I mean, like, dude, you're
about to go to the playoffs, like you havn't a
good success there, and dude, find a home, please just
find one home. And he just how long is he
gonna be at LSU? Right, It's like, dude, can we
quit this? Him just hopping around and everybody wants him.
(01:31):
I mean, he's a good coach. He's a great coach
if you don't get your program turned around, but stay somewhere.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
If history is any indicator, he willn't necessarily have any
say on how long he stays at LSU because they
fire everybody.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Well, hey, if you know, if you're not winning ten eleven,
twelve games and threatening for the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Though they lead the country and buy out money doled out,
I think they're still paying coach though. So I mean
it and the larger, the larger scope of the conversation,
because you know, we had Clarklely today, we had Eli
Drinkwitz yesterday. Indiana obviously extends Signetti is that we're finding
out that a lot of these guys at these ascending
(02:09):
or at least trying to bring their way into the
upper echelon of college football. These places are finding out
in the NIL era, it's becoming easier to win if
you just stay, build continuity and not try to get
it restarted somewhere else. And that's why a lot of
these other programs have not found their.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Man yet, especially if you're in a power for school.
You know, it's much easier now to just look at Indiana.
Who would have thought that he could do that at Indiana?
I mean, you're a Power four school, you're in a
nice conference. You have a better chance to build something
and sustain something. Nowadays you don't have to do all that.
You don't have to get to the SEC to have
a shot at winning a national championship.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
So yeah, but yeah, you know what, LSU and.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
They deserve each other, and I need to go ahead
and do it, man, go ahead and do it.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Never in my life would I have thought that my
wife would have the upper hand in a football discussion
with Indiana and Missouri.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Never. Never in my life, No thought I was getting
the victory there. Nope.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
And she's got basketball too to brag about to because
they were the top twenty five. We're talking with Nate
Wimberley WBTV Panthers and Rams. Obviously, with what we saw
on Monday night, it was a lot of different things
going wrong for the Carolina Panthers. But I think it
just seems like there's a disconnect for me based on
(03:33):
in a singular game. I don't feel like they always
know what they're going to do well in a singular game,
and I think that's what the biggest problem was on
Monday night is that it seemed like Dave Canalis really
tried to make the throw happen and it never really
got going. And you saw the tweet from Rico Dawell.
He's come back out afterwards and said, Hey, you know what,
(03:55):
I messed up. We probably should have ran it more.
It's not the first time that's happened this year, but
at the same point in time, it makes you wonder
at six and six, how this is going to end up,
at least turning around with five games left to go.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Once again, they're struggling with their identity and you thought
that they had figured that out as far as you know.
I can always go back to the quote he had,
our coach had before the season, where we're going to
be a physical team. If teams are not gonna want
to play us the way you do that have a
great physical defense, which they do have. But you got
to run the ball. And there are some and Monday
is the prime example. You just get away from it.
(04:29):
The final score is twenty to nine. You never should
have abandoned the run. You were never really out of
this game. Keep running the ball, but he wouldn't do it.
And it's like, to your point, this isn't the first
time we've seen this. We keep going through this and
going through this, and you know, do we give Cuba
more rushes? Do we give Rico more rushes? Then you
figure that out. Then this month, this past money. To me,
(04:49):
it looked like Cuba was on the field a lot
more than you know, I thought he would have been.
So right now now you're back to this position of
who's gonna get the most carries?
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Are we gonna run the ball? And I think they look.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
If you don't run the ball this Sunday, I don't
know what's gonna you know, because you've got to run
the ball. You've got to control the clock. You've got
to keep this offense on this sideline because you're so
beat up on defense. Do not give the rams a
whole bunch of byites on the apple against this secondary
and this defense that is just beat up. So you're
gonna have to run the ball if you're doing anything
other than that this Sunday night or Sunday afternoon, I
(05:24):
don't know what's going on.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Well, it's all Conklin tells me. They'll be weather involved
on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Even more reason to run the ball.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
This is a team. I'll ask the question this way.
They're six and six. Now, let's assume that it's six
seven after this week going into the bye.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Is there a record that you have.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
That would make you feel disappointed, like if like, if
they don't win another game, are you disappointed?
Speaker 4 (05:50):
No, they shouldn't.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
They shouldn't be in this Nobody would have thought they
would be in this position right now, you know.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
What I mean? Wait, wait, even if they would one
more game.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Than it did last year, I'm fine with that because
I think that's a step that's growth. I mean, we've
seen this team be a team that can compete for
a playoff spot because they've done it at this point,
and I think that's a step ahead of what you
were last year. So even if they don't win another game. Now,
if you lose to the Saints, and if they can
beat the Saints and then lose the rest of their games,
I'm fine with that.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
That's a step So seven to ten is okay with that, That's.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
I'm fine with that.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
I'm perfectly fine with that because you've taken a step
forward and now you've set you put yourself in a
position where playoffs are reasonable. It's it should be expected
next year, you know, you go out and make the
right moves to to you know, help your stuff at
linebacker and things.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
It is, things of that nature.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
You're gonna be in a position to challenge the Bucks
next year to be a playoff team and a division contender.
So yeah, yeah, they only win one more game the
rest of this year, I'm perfectly fine. If I'm a
fan of the of the Panthers, I'm fine with that.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Rose, Boom Out, Mays Out, Zavala, Horn, Cherylis, and may Rig.
That's six big parts of their team. I think we
all agree that Horn probably is the biggest loss sol
though maybe even Mayory could he be be part of
that as well because he's been such a great puzzle piece.
Where do you think the Panthers will hurt the most
this week.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
It's at that corner back, that cornerback position. You know,
somebody one of them is gonna have to guard or
you know, Davonte Adams, and they're gonna they're boy, their
eyes are gonna be big come Sunday to take on whoever's.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
The opposite Mike Jack.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
But that safety spot is it is a big one too,
because they do have you know, they've got some tight
ends that can hurt you as well. So, uh look,
it's gonna be a long road to hal for the
Panthers this Sunday. But I actually think it's gonna be
a close game for three quarters.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
I do.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
I mean, nothing in this season has made sense in
the NFL. Once you think you figured it out, somebody
else does something crazy. For the Panthers to beat the
Rams will just kind of fit what this season has
been in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
So you know, I think they're gonna play them close.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
You know, if they can, if they run the ball
and they run it effectively, I think they can.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
They can.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
They can gut it out and be there at the end.
But in the end, I just think the Rams got
too much firepower.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
For him and to his point.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
In two thousand and one, the one to fifteen Panthers
played the greatest show on turf to about a nine
or ten point game. If the Saints are the most
winnable game for this team, what's the second most winnable
game they have left?
Speaker 1 (08:19):
I would probably say one of the back of one
of the Bucks games. It's got to be one of
the Bucks games. I don't think they're going to be Seattle.
Seattle's defense is just just lights out right now. And
you know, I do believe we like the clown say
I'm doing and all that, I think he's gonna be
highly motivated, you know now with Jackson Smith and Jigba
and what he has on that offense side of the
ball to come here and put on a show.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
I do believe that, especially because you don't necessarily know
how limited Baker Mayfield's gonna look. And that's obviously something
that stollmates. We seen ween talking with Nate Wimble WBTV
as we get you ready for this interesting weekend in sports,
pivoting to the Hornets, who have lost seven in a row.
Four and fourteen is the record. I asked this Rod
boone an hour ago, how surprised to you that it's
(09:02):
been this disappointing.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
I don't know if I'm.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Well, it comes with a caveat because I didn't think
they would be this hurt for that long and now
here we are once again in this position again. So
you know, I'm not really surprised surprised, but I am
surprised because I think this team, this team does half talent,
and you know, you get LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller
(09:29):
back for these first two games, and Wednesday, they just
they just looked all a lot of sorts and that
led to con licking a lot of sorts. So I
just think I said it on the point after earlier
today I said, I think the season is already over
because it's gonna take them a while to figure all
of this out with you know, com playing the way
he's playing, and then now you got to adjust he
has to readjust now to those vets being back in
(09:51):
there again. And then once you get Grant Williams back
in the fold, now you're gonna have to readjust there.
So I just think it's time is not on their
side when it comes to this kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
I'm gonna something that's going to surprise Smoke Ludwig. As
much as I like Miles, I think there are times
where the ball sticks to him too much when we're
talking about where Conkin Nipple is in the hierarchy of options,
because I think they're not used to the fact that
this rookie is probably the second best option when it
(10:23):
comes to scoring, third when you have Lamellow and Brandon Boone.
And I think that's something that's hard for a player
like Miles to adjust to, a player like Colin Sexton
to have to adjust to, because I think a lot
of these guys understand they're playing for their futures when
they have to realize that Conkin Nipple is the president
and the immediate future of this basketball team.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
One hundred percent agreed.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
That's why I'm saying it's going to take a while
for them to figure this thing out, and they're probably
gonna have to move on from Miles Bridges at this point.
I just think, you know, once we get this Pantas
season done and we look back up come January February,
it's not gonna be much better than what it is now.
I just don't think so. And at that point, I
think you're going to start to start to hear the
rumblings of you know, we need to move on and this,
(11:08):
that and the other. Look, I love myles Man, but
I just don't think he's the fit here for this
team right now.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
So with Nate, remember Lee, North Carolina UNC this weekend
is very intriguing, obviously from a local perspective. For whatever reason,
I just have a feel about North Carolina this weekend.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
I don't know what it is.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
It's just it's kind of one of those things that
just I feel like n C State maybe lost a
little bit of their will last weekend. Again, I know
that that North Carolina didn't look great against Duke, but
I think I have more confidence in Belichick getting his
guys up motivated than I do en dora In at
this point. But then again, they could surprise me and
(11:48):
lay an egg against Nancy State as well.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
I just think it's just a ribvaly thing.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
I think the State will be ready to go this week,
and you know, I see them getting a win more
so than North Carolina. I just don't really have a
lot for that, you know. I just think State will
because it's that rock every thing, and they'll be ready
and they'll be up and they'll be ready to go,
and I think they'll just get that win.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
You guys got playoff stuff going on, and oh.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, absolutely, we got football Friday night, eleven twenty. The
big game to night is the eight A Western Regional Final.
Whe's Charlotte Huff. It's been the game everybody's been looking
forward to all season long.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
The amount of just.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Talent on this field is just incredible. They're twelve seniors
between both teams that are committed to D one programs.
Already fourteen underclassmen have D one offers. The amount of
talent on this field is just tremendous. You know, where's Charlotte,
the defended three eight state champions They kind of got
the experience on this side of things because they made
a run all the way to the state championship. Huff
is right back in a position where they've been just
(12:43):
like year in and year out, they have yet to
play in the state championship game. This is their best
shot at getting there. Their twelve to zero coach before
the c or after their first win said, we're the
kings of the Queen City, where Charlotte took a little
fense to that.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
This game is going to be a great one to night.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
You know, it could come down to the end between
these two uh as they decide who goes to the
eight eight state championship game.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Those are two teams that played at the bank, right.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
No, they played they yeah, yeah, yeah, one play.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Earlier today and West Charlotte played at the end.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
And so that was kind of there was a little
bit of a little bit of a Tenni tent back
and forth.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
So coach said that right as West Charlotte was looking
at the tunnel where West Arlotte was gonna come out
with the Kings of the Queen City, and you know,
as West Sharlte is standing there looking at them celebrate
with the trophy, and West Charlotte was like, Okay, we'll
see it.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Should be a lot of fun tonight.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Absolute eleven twenty on w BTV Football Friday, and always
good to see it.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
Absolutely y'all have a going Hey.
