Speaker 1 (00:00):
You were listening to the Kyle Bailey Show powered by
Victory Chevy Charlotte, where just nineteen dollars down could put
you in a brand new Chevrolet Today.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Style.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Bailey Show Sports Ready on ninety two to seven WFNZ.
I've gotten to the point where I've become very defensive
about people who take shots about Charlotte.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
This is something spoken I were talking about during the break.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Apparently there's a guy who is talking about wanting to
leave Charlotte because he said, the airport's a nightmare, the
food sucks, nightlife is non existent. This great golf, but
I still haven't fix my slice. I need to leave.
First of allf your slice is your problem.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
Pal.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Nightlife is not non existent. You have to know where
to look. The food also incredible. You have to know
where to look. The airport's a nightmare. Conceded. But as
somebody pointed out in this Big rabbit Hole thread, it
is a reason why Brentson Buckner called this place the
married man's paradise. Housing is reasonable. Taxes a reasonable comparative

(01:13):
to the rest of the country. We might hate him
as somebody who pays taxes on the south side of
the line. Maybe you get a little bit better deal
down there. Sorry about you, but you know, I hate
to break it to you. We're not Atlanta. I've lived
in both cities. I can tell you right now. Atlanta
would be would have been a great place for single Willie.

(01:35):
I was not single when I moved to Atlanta, and
I found out very quickly that Atlanta probably not for me.
If it was like seven years earlier in my life, maybe.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
There would have been.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
But I went to Atlanta a coupled man and left
there an engagement. So there you go, and with the
same person. By the way, smoke don't don't. Well, you've
kind of told me that already, so I kind of knew.
She's a doctor, not a nurse.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
Right.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yes, she'll never let me live that then, I know
that for sure, and understandable as she shouldn't, as she shouldn't.
Did you see the text from christin Greenville? I don't
know if I understand it. He said, how would the
team look if every first round draft pick since twenty
seventeen till twenty twenty one was on the roster? And

(02:26):
do you think the team will be in a better position?

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Ps?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
I love this team now because they don't give up
the true definition of keep pounding. So Christian McCaffrey, yep,
DJ Moore, Brian Burns, Derek Brown, J C.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Horn.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Right, the problem is to get some of whose draft
picks you got in twenty twenty two, twenty twenty three,
and twenty twenty four, you had to give those people. Yes,
that's I think that's kind of the point he's making.
Darthe Jackson's part of that as well. Dante's had a
good post pants he has, he has resurrected a little bit.
Butker's on that list. Yeah, Well the problem was Curtis

(03:09):
Samuel is on that list too. Markus Saint's just retired.
I was gonna say, you're counting him. I mean in
there he's the only and the only guy in twenty
nineteen to talk about is Brian Burns because the rest
of that draft was absolute just awful.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
It was anemic, right, bad draft, Greig.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
The thing is Marty thought about trading up in the
first round to get him, but had to wait a
little bit. Okay, don't worry. Twenty twenty draft wasn't much
Uh wasn't much better either. Outside of dB He Tor
Gross Matos was in that draft and Jeremy Chin and
Jeremy Chin, who's good elsewhere Troy Pride? That was Willy

(03:54):
was Willy was Willy was was wrong on that one.
You're along in a lot of dB picks there stopping it,
but you were more of a Keith table. I was
about to say, you get your Keith Taylor slider out
of your mouth. Uh, I mean yeah, But I'm also
it also would mess up the space time continuum, so yeah, yeah,

(04:14):
who knows. But and to be fair, there's also people
who have stuck around from that time period show.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
But Tommy J C. Brady Christensen, oh Shy Smith though, Wow,
I sometimes forget he was here.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Yeah for a minute, had a problem driving. That's a
very deep cut. Don't know how many would get that,
but I got that.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
That's good. You know what?

Speaker 3 (04:43):
This is why you and I worked together. This is
why this is why we worked together. Deontay Brown. Also,
do you remember, I don't know, it was last year
in the UFL Did you see the passing grade he got?

Speaker 4 (04:57):
It was like a seven in the UFL game mm hmm.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
And then of course the legend of Thomas Fletcher you
coming or what, don't worry we still got a long
snapper here that you didn't replace that still playing. I
really wanted Phil Hoskins to work too big snack and
and uh and Davey on Nixon both and they missed

(05:21):
the whiffed on both those dudes.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
To answer your question, I think they needed to go
through the dregs to get to where they are at now.
Is the is the adequate way to answer Christian Greenville's
question while also just suffering through all the the failures
that were when it came to those picks. It's not
time for the best audio in sports with what did
you say?

Speaker 2 (05:42):
What did you say?

Speaker 4 (05:44):
You what?

Speaker 5 (05:45):
What did you say?

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Wait a minute?

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Send me right? What I mean by that.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Is all right?

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Willie.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Well, Unfortunately, we got some news earlier today during Dave
canals latest press conference surrounding Trevin Wallace.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
He's going to be out for a year.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
As Dave Canalis explained the process after the last two
weeks of him missing time due to yet another shoulder injury.

Speaker 6 (06:12):
Trevin had surgery on his shoulder and he was he
was a stut about it and it was a it
was a playable condition, but it just wasn't he wasn't
really turning the corner to be able to play confidently
the way that we know he can, and so we
reevaluated that, and you know, really just collectively made that
decision to to make sure we can get this thing right,

(06:33):
get ahead of it right now, and we have him
getting ready to go for the for the spring and
get him strong. This is you know, the shoulder injuries
and those types of surgeries take time. If anybody out
there has had experience with that, you know there's a
lot that goes into it. So that's what we had
to do there, and uh, you know, Claude's ready to
go step in and and keep pushing this thing forward.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
The entire Carolina Panther linebacking corps consists of Trevin Wallace
and a bunch of dudes who are for free agency
next year. Do they completely remake that room again? I
could see him bringing Rose Boom back as a death piece,
and maybe Cherlists back is a death piece, but yeah,

(07:14):
it's how many death pieces can you afford to carry
on a roster?

Speaker 4 (07:18):
And that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
I don't even know if you can afford Cherless as
a death piece, because he's probably gonna want to start
somewhere else. Now Cherlist is a restricted free agent. Some
maybe he might be easier to think you bring him back.
I think you bring him back specifically for special teams
and as death because Rosebum actually played seventy four percent
of the snaps, which is more than I thought it was.
But you need to actually get some linebackers that can cover.

(07:42):
Linebackers that you know are really good, and you need
to develop some of them. And Trevin Wallace, I don't
know if he's going to be your main linebacker. Someone
was trying to say that cherilists one. Someone on I
was trying to say that Cherlist has played better than
Trevor Wallace.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
And that's not the case.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Now.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
I remember that Atlanta game. That first half against Atlanta
was pretty bad. Yeah, but he's gotten a lot better.
He's gotten a lot better. Getting the Green Dot, ironically enough,
helped him a lot.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
I just I don't think you can trust him as
a starter full time. But yeah, you're gonna it's gonna
be a massive overhaul this all season. Luckily, according to
the draft, it's a pretty good year to need a linebacker.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Yeah, a yeah, pretty good.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Here's the thing, positional importance of linebacker. It's like bottom
of the barrel if you're looking at the defense and
just the roster overall. But you definitely need competency there
because we've seen what a defense like as zero Averro's
looks like when you don't have competent linebackers. The middle
of the field is open season, and that's something that's

(08:45):
been a problem for the Panthers all year when they've
had inconsistencies on defense.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Being fair, again to his zero Averro.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Well, one thing that a zero Vero hasn't had to
worry about this year is Derek Brown, who's had a
hell of a comeback season, so much so that he
probably should be in the running for Comeback Player of
the Year, and he should have been in the Pro Bowl.
But unfortunately, due to players and coaches, Derek Brown is
not in the Pro Bowl and there's no way he
can get to the Pro Bowl because of the position

(09:14):
he plays now. And during Tuesday's media session in the
locker room, Derek Brown was asked about the fact that
he hasn't made the Pro Bowl for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 7 (09:25):
Derek, the obvious question is about you not getting elected
to the Pro Bowl.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
What are your thoughts on that?

Speaker 7 (09:31):
And you know what, how did you feel when you
receive the news that.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
You weren't going to go? Oh disappointed? You know, being
a competitive I am, I you know.

Speaker 8 (09:39):
Definitely want the opportunity to be able to, you know,
represent my team in the Pro Bowl.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
You know, that's one of those things.

Speaker 8 (09:45):
You know, I guess my peers and the coaches doing
down good enough to being there. So you know, I'll
take that with a brandy salt and just keep working.

Speaker 7 (09:52):
Does that make it sting a bit more? Because usually
it's the other the fans don't get it right, and
then the players and the coaches are.

Speaker 8 (09:59):
Like, uh, I mean I think you know which whichever
where you look at it not getting.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
It and you know it's frustrated him, but I mean
it is what it is.

Speaker 8 (10:06):
I still got a lot of a lot of ball
to play here, and so I mean, you know, I'm looking.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Forward to the opportunity for that.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
There was another part of his media availability that he
uh let an exploitive fly.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
So I'm glad you kept that part.

Speaker 8 (10:19):
Out of it.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
But uh now it's completely unconscious. Uh it's unconscionable, and
uh what was I on with you. He was was
one of the gentleman was on with us from the Seahawks.
He was trying he was trying to advocate for somebody
on Seattle's interior defensive line. I want to say it
was Byron Murphy. Yes, he was trying to advocate for

(10:41):
Byron Murphy because Lendard Williams was one of the three
defensive tackles that made it. Ain't no way, pal dB
all day, get out of here, Come on, doubt I.
Derek Brown literally has a a weekly segment dedicated to
him with Brian Baldegger where he literally is throwing dudes.

(11:04):
He's got fives. He got five and a half or
six and a half sacks, five and a half, five away.
It's a career high, Fred. Yeah, so, which is a
high number for an interior defensive lineman.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
If you get five sacks from Derek Brown every year,
you take that and then some argue with a wall.
Let's say, all right, well we go in with the
Charlotte Hornets. As you know, we mentioned that they've defeated
the Washington Wizards, or as Walker mel would say, the Wizards,
and they're now two to zero against him this year,

(11:35):
Big win before Christmas, and let's face it, this month
of December, while not being perfect, has been better than
the month of November. They've been playing near five hundred
basketball as of late, and Austin Rivers was on the
Peacock Unique broadcast where they sit beside court side on
the lock right beside the teams, and Austin Rivers on

(11:57):
his podcast Off Guard noted how he came away pretty
impressed with the Hornets and thinks that the more people
should be paying attention to them moving forward.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
You know, on paper, I'm like, oh my gosh, Charlotte,
and then you meet the coach and you meet new
management and you see how optimistic they are and how
positive they are, and then like they're shoot arounds and
all this stuff. You're like, yeah, they're really like turning
stuff around. It's actually like it was eye opening for
me being around them, especially front office, the coach, Like
they got a certain way about them where you start

(12:27):
to see why they're GMS thirty something years old and
in that position you got, you start to see why
their coach is thirty something years old and in that
position like these guys got because yesterday I'm talking to
Charlotte's front office, and he's like, you know, it's been tough.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
We came in and.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
We were behind, you know, and we had draft picks
but haven't come to fruition yet, so we needed something
to go right for us. We knew LaMelo's gonna be good.
So LaMelo worked out all right, but that wasn't our drafts.
You know, we weren't here for that. He's like, so
we're like, we got a draft, well, and Mill's worked out.
In our opinion, he's very good. He's talented. We like him,
but you gotta get lucky. Nipples our guy, you know

(13:07):
what I mean, Like we got lucky with him. Do
we think Nipple could play? Absolutely? We like how strong
his lower base was. I mean, this is how they
were talking about it. Like we like how strongest bass is.
We liked how thick and strong.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
He is, how he could shoot.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
Do we think he was going to be a twenty
point per game players rookie year and break Steph Curry's
three point record?

Speaker 4 (13:25):
No, but you gotta get lucky.

Speaker 8 (13:27):
Yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
He's like, we've had a lot of bad luck. I mean,
this is the guy looking at me, like we've had
a lot of bad luck here. It's about time it's
coming back our way.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
Again.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
I think con Canipple maybe change the equation or what
the hornets are going to look like here in the future. Now,
whether that means it's Miller, Canipple and Ball or Miller
and Canipple and another person remains to be seen. But

(13:55):
it looks like that third member is now con So
you're saying he's the third man. That's correct, and sometimes,
as we know, the third man could be the most
impactful man.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
Absolutely, very very it's very very good for you. Thank you,
very very good.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
That is what did you say for a twenty sixth
day of December twenty twenty six. We'll come back, we'll
switch gears. What I said, let's say twenty twenty five,
said twenty twenty six. I'm like, well, buddy, we've gonna
this show's last a lot longer than I thought. I'm
already trying to get us. I'm already trying to get
a beat on the New Year. I got too many.

(14:34):
Twenty six is as long as it didn't say six
to seven. I think we're okay. Mike Jaminski will join us,
we'll talk from college hoops. He's got a great high
school basketball classic coming up this weekend. The Duke Ledget
joins US next to g Man Sports Ready on ninety
two seven WFNZ Sports Rady on ninety two seven w VNC.

(15:07):
You hope you're enjoying your day after Christmas. From what
I understand, the roads are somewhat tame right now, which
is good.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
I hope people are relaxing. I think the one of
the ball games just ended.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Ironically enough, it was Ashley Stroline on that bowl, just
like she was on a bowl during our time on Tuesday.
So our work schedules have been coposentic with Strows. Who
won that bowl? Was it Northwestern Central Michigan? That's what
I thought it was. It looked it looked like it
was one sided, so they win the uh, I don't
remember what it was called. It used to be the

(15:40):
quick Lane Bowl, Yes, but one in Detroit that's played
at Ford Field.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Yes, that's that one. Uh.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
No beans were involved in this one. You know, much
different scenario for for stro In that in that contest.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
It is.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Of course, it is gonna be a lot of fun
contests coming up this weekend and also next week Marvin
Ridge High School in wax Saw's going to have three
great days of basketball for the Mike do Minski Classic
Classic presented by Santa Recovery and the g Man.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
Very very kind to.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Join us and not only talk about that, with some
other things involving the hoops world. Of course, a duke
legend ACC broadcaster, and he joins us on sports radio
on eighty seven WFNZ. Mike, hope you had a good
Christmas and thank you so much for some time today.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Oh my pleasure. Yeah, Christmas was good. Actually got a
twenty month old grandson and another one on the way,
so that always livens things up. But now it was
a great day and I'm looking forward to a great
three days down on Marvin Ridge.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
It should be a lot of fun. It's the second
year of this classic. I think it's it'd be easier
to tell you who isn't playing amongst the cross section
of teams you have here, not just locally, but you know,
across both states. Saturday, Monday and Tuesday should be a
lot of fun with three girls games and then a
bunch of boys games across it.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Yeah, I know, we've really got a good cross section
of teams are going to be eighteen teams represented. You know,
as you say, Gaston, Christian Grace, Christian West Charlotte, one
of the most highly rated teams in the state. Marvin Ridge,
very well thought of Hunter huss Queen's grant. You know,

(17:19):
we pulled from around the state, but primarily around this
area and have some great matchups. Sober three Days.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
What can you tell us about the group you're working with,
your Son of Recovery.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
Well, it's a group that I've actually partnered with and
had been partnering with since April of twenty twenty three
and started out with one sober living facility and now
we have three houses. But Sign of Recovery and the
foundation is really going to try to extend and just

(17:52):
bring awareness to substance use disorder mental health issues. We
want to be a tree system, if you will, for
people to call. And you know, I've been very open
about my recovery and the question I get most asked is,
you know, what do we do. They know there's a

(18:13):
problem with a family member, with a friend, or with themselves,
but they don't know a course of action. And through
our website and through the clinicians that we have we
want to provide that education and that guidance to two
people in this area.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
It's a it's a cause, that's it's near and dear
to my heart as well. And I think from that perspective,
it's it's something that I think we need all the
more of it and continuing to provide awareness for that.
And I think it's also great that it destigmatizes a
lot of the stuff that comes around substance abuse, recovery
and things of that nature.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Well, and that's that's the main thing that I tried
to do in my community outreach and when I decided
to be public about my recovery in my story, is
to let people know that it's not a mark of shame,
you know, it's it's a disease. It's something that can
be can be addressed, and you know, the biggest problem

(19:18):
is not to talk about it, or not to bring
it to light, or not to tell a friend or
a family member you're concerned about them. And and I've had,
you know, great success and a lot of gratification people
coming to me because of me telling my story and
being able to provide them some guidance.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Like Dominsky Classic again Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Marvin Ridge High
School in Waxaw. Who are you most looking forward to
seeing play out there?

Speaker 2 (19:49):
I you know, I think West Charlotte mean, our host
school is is uh is very you know, highly rated.
They're going to be the last game all three days,
you know, as you said, evan games each day starting
at starting at eleven o'clock in the morning, and probably
West Charlotte Queens Grant is going to be a great

(20:11):
matchup on Monday. I think that's at five o'clock. But
you know, and Penam Hoops does a great job. They're
our partner and helping us put this on, and they
do a great job of presenting the tournament and getting
these teams to commit and also putting together the best matchups.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
And I'll be putting out the link to see where
your team is playing, regardless of where you're on. The
three day schedule. Should be a lot of fun here
this weekend. We put that out on our social media
here at will Ape Style of course.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
Mike Timinski joining us here.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
We'll talk to Macy C Hoops now, Mike in terms
of Duke in terms of what we last saw them, Unfortunately,
a little bit of a sour taste in the mouth
after they're lost to Texas Tech. It's kind of put
a bit of a sour stamp on what had been
a pretty good start to the season. But what's your
overall assessment of how the Blue Devils have started?

Speaker 2 (21:00):
You know, I actually the timing of it may not
be the worst thing in the world. December is such
a difficult month for college basketball players in general. I mean,
you've you've had an incredibly hard schedule in November and
early December, then you're hit with finals, then you've got

(21:22):
Christmas break, then you've got to turn around and get
you know, the ACC season hasn't even started yet. So
you know, knowing John Shire, he'll treat this. He'll treat
that loss as it needs to be treated, and it
it may be a little bit of a wake up
and a catalyst for this team to get them refocused
going into the start of the season.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
How easy is it, given the way college basketball is
now and given you're you're collecting a different group of
people it seems like every year, how easy is it
for complacency to set in, particularly in the non conference season.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Well, you know, I think for a good portion of
the schools in the league, they've really challenged themselves. So
you know, for like for North Carolina and for Duke
and for INSI State Virginia. You know, they've played some
really good competition and and for me across college basketball,
it's been great to see some of these matchups. I

(22:21):
think it's great for the fan base. I think it
helps these teams get ready for their league play in January,
So you know, I think it's I think it's good
for the sport, and I think it's maybe a bit
of an overreach to think anybody's going to go through
it undefeated.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Definitely, So I mean, thinking about it, you got five
teams in the top thirty in the net rating, and
when it comes down to it, it has really kind
of gotten itself back to some prosperity, I think for
a lot of people. You know, we had those couple
of years where people took pot shots at the Atlantic
Coast Conference, but now it seems like they've got a
little bit of their swagger back. You mentioned the heavy

(22:59):
non com scheduling, the way that they've gone about doing so,
and the sussess that they've had in it. But what
are your thoughts about how people are now talking about
the ACC, like there's a bit of renaissance now here
with the league.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Yeah, and you know it's it's I think it's been
good for our league. And uh, you know with with
with North Carolina coming back and really having a great
non conference record of Virginia, I think has been a
bit of a surprise. You know, Ryan Odom getting there.

(23:30):
Of course, you know, people familiar with his dad, Dave
at Wake Forest, and you know Ryan grew up in Charlottesville,
so you know he got things turned around quickly there.
You know, there's just a lot of Pat Kelcey at Louisville.
I think the league is much better prepared and much better,

(23:53):
you know, shaped to go into the NCAA Tournament. It's
going to be a lot of great competition and a
lot of up in the league for teams to get better.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
Talking with Mike Kaminski, of course, when it gets down
to it, one of the best voices and crembs of
the ACC joining us here on sports Rady on ninety
two to seven WFNZ. Caleb Wilson has kind of taken
North Carolina by storm, taking the league by storm has
been a part of this tar heel resurgence this season.
What are you most impressed about with him and this
team as well? As you mentioned teams with good non

(24:24):
conference records hard to beat with the Tar Heels have
done so far.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Now, and I'll tell you what he Caleb Wilson is,
he's a special player and it's amazing to see the
maturity level in his game. And I think that's the
thing that strikes me about a lot of the freshmen
around the country is they don't play like freshmen and
their game is so well rounded. You know, if he's

(24:48):
got one deficiency, maybe it's his lack of three point range,
but that'll come and I you know, he's he's going
to have a strong, strong year. He's going to you know,
obviously right there for for Freshman of the Year, but
also player of the Year in the conference. Uh vis
here the center that they got is also going to

(25:10):
be a big component for them. North Carolina is they're
they're they're back, and they're back in a big way.
And uh you know, I think their fan base should
be really excited about the coming season.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
It should be very interesting when we see those two
Duke and UNC kind of square off here. But but
of course, now State finds themselves in the mix with
with Will Wade, uh, kind of coming in trying to
upset the apple Cart and the Triangle and saying, hey,
don't forget about us. They've had a topsy turvy start
to the season, couple of losses that I don't think
you would have necessarily foreseen, but Wade has kind of

(25:44):
kept them accountable. How do you kind of maybe assess
the rabble rouser nature and is of Will Wade when
it comes to a his his insertion now into this league.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Well, and I don't I don't mean this in a
in a disrespectful way, but I think he is coming
into that program at a very good time. And with
regard to the fact that the old guard Hall of
Fame coaches at Duke and North Carolina are not there,
so he doesn't he doesn't, you know, the neighborhood is

(26:16):
a little bit more open right now. You've got you know,
you got Hubert Davis and John Shire, younger guys who
are trying to make their mark. And I think in
this environment, in the NIL environment, Will Wade is going
to do very well. Uh. He really had to throw
together a team this year on the fly, and Darien
Williams was a big pick up for him. He's been terrific.

(26:38):
But Will Wade is going to have a very very
strong impact at NC State.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
If North Carolina or Duke doesn't win the league, who
is the team that you think would win outside of
those two teams? Is it Virginia or is there another
team you have in mind?

Speaker 2 (26:52):
I would say Louisville right now is might might be
my pick. And you know, they've been a top fifteen
team all year this year. And you know, I met
Pat Kelsey when he was an assistant with Skip Prosser
Wake Forest, and you know, way back in the early
two thousands, I knew that he was going to do

(27:13):
very well in that head coaching seat. And he's had
success wherever he's been, and he's gonna that's another program
that really need to be resuscitated, and he's kind of
briefed some new life. He had a great year last
year and really off to a terrific start this year.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Mike Diminski Klask again is December twenty seventh. That's tomorrow
and then Monday and Tuesday Marvin Ridge High School again,
we'll tweet out the link of all the game schedule again.

Speaker 4 (27:40):
They started eleven.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
And they go through the day and evening again presented
by the folks at Santa Recovery. Mike Chaminski so kind
to join us here on a Friday. Mike, we hope
you had a good Christmas, have a happy new Year,
and we'll talk some hoops with you as the year
turns to twenty twenty six.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Thank you, sir.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
Yeah, I look forward to it. And again it's Signorecovery
dot org is our website. Come and visit it. We've
got clinicians and people are ready to help.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
Thank you, My appreciate it. Thank you as the g man,
Mike Jaminski joining us here. Fantastic stuff from him. Great
hearing some great hoops talk in the ACC And I
think it's it's great to hear the way people are
talking about this league now smoke, because I think so
much of the last couple of years people had talked
about it in a defamatory way, and now it does

(28:26):
seem like the swaggers back with this league.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
Yeah, and you know that's a very good point.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Do I think it's all the way back to what
it was not yester Year's No, but I do think
the last two years specifically have been a massive wake
up call for a lot of acc squols say, hey,
we're just saying, the days where we could just walk
onto a court and easily take care of business, we
got to wake up. We gotta, you know, change the
way we go about business, because the business has changed dramatically.

(28:56):
And while Duke and you know, Carolina at times have
been their usual selves, there have been sometimes where a
lot of other schools have not been there, the case
being Louisville. Now Louisville think got a little bit of
a head start that and they also nailed their head
coaching higher, so it got them to a spot quicker
than it did than it might have for most other programs.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
But now we're seeing it with Virginia.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
You know, I really like that higher coach, as weird
as it is to see him on the sidelines from Virginia,
considering one of the greatest losses was that the hands
of him, I mean, he can't beat him, join them. Well,
he beat him and joined him. I'm saying, if Virginia
can't beat him, then yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
Very good. But you have Jerry Otem.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
He's done a really good job of you know, building
what he has done at other places, and you know,
I also look at some other schools state. I don't
know if it's going to be there this year. I
think there's still be they'll be firmly on the bubble.
I think I characterized him aptly where he's he's a
robb arouser and a disrupt and I don't mean that

(30:00):
from a defamatory standpoint, but he basically is trying to
upset the ascent of North Carolina and Duke, and he
might curb it, but I don't think they're at the
level right now where they can compete with those teams
head to head. But I think if they picked off
one of those two A and A had to head
matchup one off, I wouldn't put it past them. And
I think the middle class of the conference is doing
pretty well too, because you look at Clemson, Like I know,

(30:23):
people haven't really been talking about Clemson that much because
all the guys that have been there for the longest time,
like Ian Shefflin, you know, are now gone. But I
mean they've been pretty good. Brownell's a fantastic I mean
this these last few years have proven that why they
never fired Brad Burnell. And it's funny because just eighteen
months ago, we had a lot of Clemson fans asking
them to fire Brad Burnell after a slow start in

(30:44):
the conference play. I look at Clemson, they're going to
be a fret and they get kind of non Coin
went over Georgia to really boast about too, and look,
I don't like talking about good losses, but they stuck
it out to the end with a team like Alabama
at Alabama, so they're gonna be a tough challenge for
anyone night in night out.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
In the acc E YU two, they also lost to
by three.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
They choked that one away, but you know they'll probably
wish that one back. But I think you're gonna be
a team in the tournament. I also look at the bubble.
I don't know, I can't trust wake Forest to close
it out just because they never have, but they're gonna
because I like him too. I know same here, but
they're gonna be on the bubble, and State's gonna be
on the bubble. I believe SMU is gonna be on

(31:25):
the bubble too, true, because they're gonna be the wildcard
team out of this whole bunch. So the conference as
a whole is kind of getting back more to what
it has been man, we didn't even mention, like, you know,
a team like a Syracuse which is still kind of
trying to find its way as well. Adrian Autry, he's
having his first big moments as head coach, that big
one over Tennessee in the a C C SEC Challenge
seven or four, five, nine, six, ten Kyle Bailey show,

(31:47):
it's time for smoke on the headlines.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
Who is smoke? Where is smoked? Where there's smoke, there's fire, let's.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Go all right, So for those that may not know,
you know, we don't have to worry about the draft
picks this year, which has been very nice.

Speaker 4 (32:05):
We just maybe we worry about him like a couple months.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
Yeah, yeah, you know, but we we haven't been doing
draft talk at this time of the year, which has
been awesome refreshing. Well, that's not the case in Las
Vegas and New York as there's a massive game this
weekend Tank Bowl three thousand between the Giants and the Raiders.
The big one is, you know, the Raiders put brock
Bauers on IR on Christmas Eve. The Giants rebubbled by

(32:30):
putting Andrew Thomas and John Michael Smith's on IR earlier today.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
Tank the thong. Wow, here's the biggest one.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Apparently they just put the Raiders, just put Max Crosby
on IR.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
Max Crosby does not like that.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
According to Jay Glazer, Crosby, who has played with injuries
for much of the year, vehemently disagreed and has left
the building in Las Vegas.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
According to his sources. Huh.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
This could lead to questions on his future in Vegas.
And remember he just signed an extension last year. Acrimony
with Crosby, a guy who's an ultimate competitor, who has
been the one shining light for the Raiders over the
last five years, to one constant for Las Vegas.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Would Dan Morgan try to swing a deal? I try.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
The problem is that's a lot of money that has
to be moved in a big contract.

Speaker 4 (33:25):
Panthers have some carry over cap. They do they do.
It's gonna bet not a lot, but they got stuck.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
But look, I would love Max Crosby, but I also
think you could, you know, just take out the middleman
and try to sign Trey Henderson. But anyway, we're probably
looking at a scenario. Would you give a first round
pick for Max Crosby given the contract not at this point,
what's the age, thank You's nearly thirty. Yeah, twenty, it'll

(33:53):
be twenty nine next year. Okay, we're looking at it
a little differently, so you'd have to think about it.
But I think they're thinking about it. But it's looking
like the future of Max Crosby in Las Vegas could
finally be over.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
We'll come back. We'll tell you who bawled out.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
This mons and ends from what happened on Christmas Day
and also get you into Panthers and Seahawks, basically all
Panthers from here on out.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
Sports Riding ninety two seven w f n Z.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
City.

Speaker 8 (34:28):
Get on your feet, Hello, good, protect your chas to
the end zone.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Can go to the buck.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
He's gotta go down on it, side by side, then
back to rush running into the area.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
It'll pass toward pepys ouprights for pete out.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
Can get.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
It's time to tell you who balled out. Courtesy of
the biggest baller of them all, Thomas L. Rod of
High Performance real Estate. You can find him online at
high Performance real Estate dot com. That is high Performance
real Estate dot com and he will see you at
the closing table. You know this is not a way
you want to ball out, but hey, it got the
job done. Max Brosmer balled out by doing absolutely nothing

(35:27):
for the Minnesota Vikings. Are you doing the antithetical? But
well yeah, because he just did something that hasn't been done.
So here's the stat. Max Brosmer is the only NFL
quarterback in the Super Bowl era to play the entire
game and finished with under seventy passing yards and sacks
seven plus times, yet still win.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
That's that's called hiding your quarterback and playing view.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
Yes, and I believe what negative three passing net passing
yards are?

Speaker 4 (35:56):
Three three three net passing?

Speaker 3 (35:58):
Yeah, okay, so he did get pos I was thinking
of the Alabama rushing yards against Georgia, but yes, three
net passing yards sacks seven plus times, still won and
eliminated a division rival from the playoffs entirely. So I'm
going to concede you this. I did not watch this
game live because I had to be up early to
uh do these sports. For what was filling in for

(36:21):
Bowen Beth? I think it was Scott Hamilton who was filling
in for bowing Beth on WBT because Zoke is with
the team, et cetera. I think he's also going he's
got East. He's got ECU tonight, right or tomorrow, I
should say he's got to East.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
You game Saturday? They got a Bowl game Saturday.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
Yes, yes, uh, military bull I want to say, correct,
that's the one year I'm there.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
I was there, I made it happen. He's with the ECU.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Well that and they're trying to defender Military Bowl title
as well, because they beat NC State in that game.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
You are absolutely correct.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
So I didn't watch this game live, but I watched
it on the repeat this morning and again reinforcing the
fact that Nikole Jokich is a bad, bad man. If
fifty six points, sixteen rebounds, fifteen assists in a one
forty two, one thirty eight victory over the Tea Wolves
in a game that it was, I hate that it
ended at one o'clock in the morning local time because

(37:12):
it was a absolute thriller classic.

Speaker 4 (37:16):
Think about this.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
Nikolajokic now has a twenty point table double, a thirty
point table double, a fifty point table double, and a
sixty point riable double all against Minnesota, and those Minnesota
games have been absolutely bonkers slobber knockers. Yeah, to say

(37:38):
the least at issue Balna fantastics also, so I texted
stroline because I'm doing Mac and Ballan on Tuesday, and
oh no, you and City in the same roam me
and Fitty in the same room for four hours. Uh,
last one to leave it will be the one who
was alive or first or again I say first one

(37:59):
to leave is the one who went that makes it
out alive. Stro usually does a Tuesday morning hit with
the boys in the morning, and I asked her if
she was going to do her hit and she said, actually,
she's on the road with the Wolves, so she's not
gonna be able to join us. But I felt bad
when I text her because she was literally on television.
When I texted her, I was like, ah, because we

(38:19):
have the TVs muted in the studio. I said, I'm
such a jerk, and I didn't realize you were on TV.
She says, no worries at all. So there it tells
you how Stro can just you know, return texts, file online, file,
live reports, do all this stuff.

Speaker 4 (38:37):
She's a boss.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
It also helped that the game was a blowout and
also true Northwestern won whatever bowl game to call in.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
Detroit.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
It was an Advocare, but it was something close used
to be Quicklane. Forget what it was before. You know,
at least here in Charlotte, they haven't changed the name
that much. For the bold I say it was the
it was it. There was a tire company right before Belk. Yes, wow,
Minkey Carcare. That wasn't the first one though, it was
Mikey Carcare. And then it was the what was before?

(39:11):
It was before that?

Speaker 4 (39:12):
It was? It was it.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
It was a tire right, Yeah. Do you want to
guess which tire not good Year nope? Uh, fire not Firestone, nope?
Am I close? Continental Tire Ball? There you go.

Speaker 4 (39:24):
I was that it.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
I didn't look either, so it's kind of tired. Mike
Minkekey Carcare. Then Belk for ten years. Yeah, then Duke's Mayo.
It's been Duke's Mayo since twenty twenty two.

Speaker 4 (39:37):
It's okay.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
It first yeah, because uh twenty two it was Shane Biemer.
The first one was when Shane Biemer looked like he
got literally got concussed by the people dumping the mayo
on him. You have not lived until you've been at
the Advocare Independence Bowl. They called the Independence Ball now, no, no,
I'm saying that that the one in Truport. Oh okay,

(40:00):
well it's not sponsored by advt it was I saying
it was Advocare when I thought that was a Ponzi
scheme company, it was. It's a peer was a pyramid
because that pyramid scheme. Sorry, because I remember they sponsored
Trevor Bain, yes, and then they disappeared because of that. Okay,
the Independence Bowl now has Radiance Technologies sponsoring them. What

(40:22):
the hell are half of these sponsors anyway? Like literally
we could go through all these ball games, and they
had Camping World for a while, they had the the
chain restaurant.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
This is more prevalent in the South walk Ons.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
You ever heard of walk Ons have heard like the
Cajun sports bar type place, but I've never been in one.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
I don't think there's one around here.

Speaker 3 (40:42):
Petros Son, Advocare, Duck Commander, Camping World, Mainstay Funds. That's
I will say this, having been I've been to that
Bowl game. I was at the whatever, the Secondary Bowl
in Phoenix was what was called the in Sight Ball.
They don't know what they I don't know what they
call it. I think it's the game. That's going on

(41:03):
right now, the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. That's right. They moved
it to Chase Field. Although it's now it's now the
Rate Bowl, not Guaranteed Rate. I forgot about that dumb
name change they turned. It's because it's now a Rate Field, right.
I will say when they had the Inside Bowl, it
was run by the people who did the Fiesta Bowl,
and it was back when they still had the tostitos

(41:24):
scenario going on, such a beautiful partnership I had been.
I was in a room where I kid you, not spoke.
I saw all of the tostitos. There was a room
with all of the tostitos, a wall of tostitos, chips, dips, sauces, cheeses,
things that they don't even put out on the shelf.

(41:46):
All it was like a museum of tostitos. I did
not leave the hospitality room, but for one meal. That's understandable.
It was great, and it was a meal that was
bought for you by somebody who I knew. Look, I
know we're entering an era where bowl games are not
going like we're gonna see a drastic change in them,
and I think unfortunately in some cases, but we still

(42:08):
have some great but like, let's also be fair, the
last ten to twelve years, a lot of these bowl
game sponsorships have sucked. I mean, you have some great ones,
like the Bush's Baked Beans Boca Raton Bowl. That was
awesome having a trophy field with Bushes Baked Beans. I
love Duke's Mayo sponsoring Pop Tarts Pop Tart, Yeah, Pop
Tart Bowl. Like that's cool because you know, you see
a lot of them go all in. But like, I'm

(42:28):
not getting excited for going to the Rate Bowl. It's like,
what getting insurance. I mean that.

Speaker 4 (42:35):
Would be great in the long term, but I don't
think they're really paying for that. Well, come to the
Rate Bowl. Here's your rate Yeah, I mean, Okay.

Speaker 3 (42:44):
Earlier this week, I don't know if you watched any
of the Xbox Bowl, but that was pretty hilarious season
seeing the Master Chief from Halo flip the coin. Oh
that's cute, So you did. They had a lot of
Xbox and video game characters dressed.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
Up at the game.

Speaker 3 (42:56):
You'd see Steth Rolins yesterday on Netflix too, that was interesting. Yes, well,
he's done a lot of stuff with NFL Network. Yeah,
especially now that he's been injured. But yeah, it's just
like it was more just talking about people I didn't
expect to be in certain places.

Speaker 4 (43:09):
So yeah, there was that too. The icebox.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
Yeah, just a lot of these bowl game sponsors sucked. Now, yeah,
Toastedos hasn't been sponsored. I Fiesta Ball for the last day.
Well converse. Conversely, a lot of the bowl games have sucked. Yeah,
there's there's probably ten too many. I feel like I'm
Bob Stegert. These bowl games don't have the same soul.
They don't have those good sponsorships. Man, where's my Blockbuster balls?

Speaker 4 (43:32):
Huh?

Speaker 3 (43:32):
With my old time college balls? What happened to the
Blue Bonnet Bowl? I just don't have the same soul.

Speaker 4 (43:44):
T me back to the.

Speaker 3 (43:45):
Mobile cotton ball with my old time college bulls.

Speaker 4 (43:56):
That's good.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
I just they suck. For the most part, they suck.
What is even the Gator Ball sponsored by now is
tax Slate? It's a tax Layer geez all. Great, I've
been excited for tax Layer to sponsor one of the
biggest Bowl games of the year. We'll be I'll be
locked into the tax Layer Gator Ball tomorrow, sir.

Speaker 4 (44:17):
Okay, fair for you.

Speaker 3 (44:18):
But like I just missed Today's of sponsorships. Actually making
sense of a bowl game sponsor. We're being actually cool.
The no Kia Sugar Bowl, Oh god, yes, everybody got
everybody got phones? Yes, does Nokia flip phones?

Speaker 2 (44:31):
Baby?

Speaker 3 (44:32):
Or the or the little bricks that you would get
at seven eleven. Nobody gets excited like smoke looking at
a flip phone. We'll come back, I promise the nonsense
has stopped. We'll get some football talking here, Panthers and Seahawks,
formula to victory and also just uh, some of the
other odds and ends. We'll tell you who's in, who's out,
