Speaker 4 (00:25):
Bird Lincoln, Lincoln, Lincoln for bingus Nana for bengun by
man gun Lincoln.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
They say this cat Lincoln is a bad mother. We're
just talking about Lincoln. Good morning, Cincinnati. Welcome to twelve
thirty w dB Z.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
We are the Buzz of Cincinnati, your talk station, the
Lincoln War Show till one o'clock this afternoon. And we
got a little few technical difficulties, and especially with Facebook Live.
We're not at Facebook Live this morning yet, but the
engineers here working on it. And he thinks we got
to just get a new monitor. Yes, so he's taking

(01:10):
the old one out and he'll.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Be back with a new one.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
Okay, so Facebook Live, folks, I told you to download
the app.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Download the app.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
It's the next next best thing since sliced bread, the
Buzz app.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Just go to your app store and load in twelve
thirty the Buzz. Download it. You'll be good to go.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Yes, all right, five one, three, seven, nine, twelve thirty.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
With my monitor being I didn't have chance to print.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
I had my stories ready to print, and you know,
I'm just I'm like, I'm out in the middle of
the ocean and I'm just paddling trying to find land somewhere,
and I don't see any sites of land, and these paddles,
these oars are getting heavy, and I don't know what
I'm doing, but anyway, but I do. I did get

(02:06):
one story printed, and the mayor I've never seen the
mayor so upset.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Vista. Victory View is a Victory View.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Victory Vista, Yeah, Victory Vista, man, is he upset? The
residents of Victory Vista came down to city Hall yesterday
and they were fired up.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
They were fired up.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
And they told the mayor and city council everything that
was going on. And after the mayor heard that, he
was fired up. Let me tell you, yeah, he is woo.
And I think in Duke Way was sitting there when
all this was going on. I think he was in
in city council chambers. It looks like I saw somebody

(02:52):
that when the cameras panned by, it looked like in
Duke Way. But the Victory Vista resident are fired up,
and boy, those rent increases up to like one hundred percent,
and some of them geez, that is crazy.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
That is crazy.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
And of course you heard about it first right here
on twelve thirty bus weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
One resident called in and where am I going?

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Now?

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Get me back to where I need? Okay, all right,
we'll try. Oh there we go. All right, we're good. Okay,
all right, we're good to go. And let me probably
when we take the next break, I'll be able to
get signed on and everything and we'll be good to go.
Will be good to go, all right, five one, three, seven, four, nine,

(03:53):
twelve thirty link and wear with you and we're up
and running. Think all right, and I got to start
everything over again.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
But anyway, the mayor, I've never seen him as mad
as he was yesterday at City Council because the city
gave money.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
For Victory Vista tax. They gave him tax breaks and
all kinds of stuff. And the mayor said, I was
there with you. He was there. I was there doing
the live broadcast. The mayor was there.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
City Council was there, not at all of city council,
but a lot of members of city council showed up.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Cecil Thomas was there. Everybody's there. Everybody was happy.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
These seniors are moving into low income apartments. Summers low
as five hundred, four hundred, six hundred dollars a month.
Somebody had a two bedroom for six hundred dollars a month.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I thought that was too good to be true. Then
I was like, six hundred dollars a month, what you're
doing in a two bedroom? And sometimes when things look
too good to be true, sometimes they are. So the

(05:21):
application for the abatement, the company wrote that without UH
that without the abatement, it was facing a one point
two million dollars shortfall on the project. So city gave
them the abatement. Yeah, so uh. Documents received through open

(05:43):
records requests also indicated that the company received a fifteen year,
one hundred percent tax abatement from the city based on
the estimated two point six million dollars worth of building
post construction.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
And it's application. Of course, they said they needed, and
the company has stated it is complying with the law.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
And assure tenants that rent increases and evictions will not
occur until the new year. Company representatives did not respond
to the request, and meantime, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency
is investigating whether the rent hikes violate the tax agreement
for the federal tax breaks.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
And they said they'll have the results soon, So we'll see.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
We will see what's going to happen with that man.
That is, this thing has pretty much exploded since the
residents called here weeks ago, and we at in Duquay
on the phone, and he was going to try to

(07:01):
work something out. He was going to try to work
something out with the residents, he says, but there's no
way those people can stay there with those rent hikes
like that. It's just no way. It's just no way
they can do it. So I don't know what's going
to happen with them. They're probably gonna have to move

(07:24):
unless he's breaking the law. Now, if he's not doing
what the law requires with those rent prices, then they
might be good to go. But is he violating is
he violating.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
Any of the federal or city guidelines as far as
rent hikes. But those people might start looking for another place.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
I know it. It's got it to be.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Hard for them to have to move out of there,
nice brand new place. Space's apartments, a lot of space
and man, and they would have to leave.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
All right.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
We got the Facebook Live back up and running again.
Thank you very much, Thank you very much. We're going.
We're good to go. But man, I have never seen
the mayor so upset yesterday. Man, he was fired up.
So those folks got their message.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Heard. A lot of people go to city Hall and
they just sit there and they talk and they listen
and that's the end of it. But it was different
this time. It was different because the mayor felt like
he was a part of it.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
He felt like he was a part of all this.
And in a way, I feel like I'm a part
of it. Since I did the live broadcast there, I
was luring you there, thinking, hey, everything is this is
great for seniors, and here, you know, not the you
know in the wooded area. You look out your window,
you see trees and everything, and boom, man, it just overnight.

(09:22):
They got their letters in the mail saying your rent
is going.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Up to this.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
We know it's six hundred now, but it's going up
to twelve hundred, thirteen hundred. One lady said HER's going
up to thirteen hundred dollars a month. Thirteen hundred dollars
a month. They can't afford that, and so who's going

(09:51):
to move in those apartments if they find out if
they have to move out of who will move in there?

Speaker 1 (09:59):
I guess and market value apartments they.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
You know, people will go in there knowing we have
to pay thirteen hundred dollars a month.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
We can afford it, so we're moving here.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
This is a nice place off the beaten path, you know,
up in the trees there on Victory Parkway. I mean
it's a nice place, very nice place. You couldn't ask
for a better spot for seniors. I'm telling you you

(10:35):
couldn't ask for a better spot. But they are in
a dilemma now, so we'll see what's gonna You've got
the city. You probably got the solicitors looking into this
and everything. Now city money is involved, so you got
the city solicitor looking into this. Somebody said all the

(10:55):
glitters is not gold. Somebody said white folks will be
moving in there, Okay.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
I mean they probably would.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
I mean, hey, like I say, those are very nice apartments,
and for the price, I don't think you'll be able
to beat it.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
You got off street parking.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
You got you know, a wooded area, nice rooms, nice kitchens.
I took a tour of the place, I'm like, this
is really nice. These seniors gonna really enjoy this, And
in one year it's turned into a nightmare. It's turned

(11:40):
into a nightmare. Somebody said, white people trying to be
as close to downtown as possible. That's exactly who's gonna
move in there. Well, I think anybody can move in
there and can pay the rent. Okay, they will be
there will be some black folks, trust me, that'll be

(12:01):
able to can afford to move in. I don't know
why people think black folks in this town can't afford anything.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Oh, we're black, we gotta have low income housing. Were
black black folks making some money in this city. I'm
telling you they're making some money in this city. Not
all black folks in Cincinnati are down trotting. I'm telling you,
so some black folks will move in there if that's

(12:29):
what's gonna happen in the end, if the seniors will
have to move. But something tells me that it's too
many people involved in this thing now, and then something's
gonna be worked out.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
It's gonna be some kind of refinanccene or something. Hud
might get involved. I don't know, but I don't think
those people will have to leave. I just got that
feeling that something is going to be worked out, going

(13:09):
to be worked out. I just got that feeling. All right,
we're gonna take a break and then we'll come back.
Five one, three, seven, four, nine, twelve thirty. We've got
Facebook up and running. But I'm telling you folks on Facebook,
please download the app in case there's a time when
we can't get on Facebook and you want to listen
to the lincoln Ware Show.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
And both of our engineers are off today.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Apparently it always happens, Yeah, when they're not around. It
never happens when they're here, you know. But uh Rob
was on his way in and he came in and
he fixed it, and so we're good to go. He
just he didn't fix it, he just put a new
one in. All right, we're gonna take a break and

(13:52):
then we'll come back. The Lincoln Were Show twelve thirty,
The Buzz Station. It's Lincoln Ware on a third day. Yes,
and don't get Cincinnati issues. Sunday morning, six thirty on
Star sixty four. We got ms Kelsey on the show.

(14:14):
Oh yeah, she's a baller. She's a baller.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
And also the one.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
Hundred, one hundred black men, the one hundred plus African
American men chorus.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Of course they'll be singing next week.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
And you get all those black men in the chorus
and every black man who sings in the church choir.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Think they can sing, you know that, let our rejoy
scene rise. We can wear including me. I might show
up and do a surprise surprise song with them. You know,
we could do the temptations. Uh, Rudolph the Red Nose

(15:02):
rein there, you know what I mean. Oh, Rudolph the
Red Nose rain did, yeah, and uh yeah, but uh,
that's gonna be a good event. That's going to be
a great event. It's always packed a sellout crowd, and
you don't want to miss that one.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
All right, Let's go downtown to the crime Stopper headquarters
and check in with my good friend Detective Tiffany Green.
And there's no reward out for your hat because we
found your hat, and uh, you're good to go now.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
Thank you. I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
I don't know how I overlooked it what I was
looking for the other day, but then I had a
guess that was sitting over there. She said, here's a hat,
right here. I'm like what I said, Well, thank you
somebody lost that hat.

Speaker 5 (15:51):

meet Kelsey Mitchell and want to say hi to her grandmother,
She said, her grandmother listens to me all the time,
made them listen when they were growing up. She had
to listen to the Lincoln Wear Show, and she says,
I always wonder who is this man, this Lincoln Wear guy,

(18:19):
How does he look?

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Who is he? And we met for the first time yesterday.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
She said, I grew up not knowing who you were

she's coming in to the radio show one of these days,
and yeah, we'll get her in here real soon. Kelsey
Mitchell and plays with the Indiana Fever and the w NBA,
and she lit him up.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Last year. She carried that team Caitlyn Clark went down
and they wouldn't have gone as far as they did
without Kelsey Mitchell.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
She lit him up. Had a twenty two point per
game average. I think at the end of the year.
She's been going up every year. I looked at her
stats from when she came into the WNBA. She was
making scoring about twelve points a year, and each year
the next year thirteen. She just kept going up every year.
Now she's up to twenty two points a game. And

(19:14):
that's that's that's doing it. She can throw that rock
up there for sure, Yes, Kelsey Mitchell, all right, five one, three, seven, four, nine,

more added on the way, so listen out for that,
but you better keep listening for your chance to win

Buzz cool Thursday morning, and uh man, it's weather. Every

(20:14):
time it snows, you know, the cold follows, you know,

stays around a while, the cold weather. So I don't
see any I don't see any daylight in sight. As
far as warmer weather, yeah, all right, let's go to

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Okay, Well, looks like they got the bar. The mayor
was fired up.

Speaker 6 (20:57):
Oh yeah, and he should have been.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
He said he can he can believe what he was hearing.

Speaker 6 (21:04):
Well, we're great by numbers and we will stick together
to fight this. So moving right along, I am calling in.
Please keep Twins as Turkey of the Year for his

(21:25):
month off, for having his five baby mamas suffer through
this Trump ordeal. Inflation high, food is high, gas electric
is high, and he made his five baby mama suffer

(21:46):
by voting for Trump.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Oh boy, okay.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
Also, I met Stanford yesterday.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Oh you did, now, and you're talking about the mayor
was fired up.

Speaker 6 (22:04):
Stamford is something else.

Speaker 7 (22:08):
Is a piece of work.

Speaker 6 (22:12):
But he's true to his conviction. He is.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
He's there every week, every week.

Speaker 6 (22:17):
Yes, and he's fighting for this and I do believe
some truth is in the matter. He may be confused
a little bit, but he called the mayor a liar,
a thief and everything else under the sun. And I've
never seen ascat so his He told him that he

(22:45):
ain't gonna take it no more from Stamford.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Whoa, and that you know, uh, he's just tired of
Oh man, it was. It was so funny.

Speaker 8 (22:59):
It was.

Speaker 9 (23:02):
I should have recorded that.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
It's recorded somewhere, It's recorded somewhere.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
So hard, but.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
Well, look, this is my last term. I can let
my hair down, you know, I can cuss about now.

Speaker 6 (23:20):
That's pretty much what the mare did. Oh boy, Oh,
you ain't heard the last from Stanford, you ain't.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
So were you happy with what he said about the
victory vista?

Speaker 6 (23:35):
Yes? I was, Yes, I tried to tell you all
along and those who pretend that smiling your face and
look through life with rose colored glasses ain't in your corner.
I don't want to say no names, but she knows
who she is, and she ain't fighting for uh the elderly,

(24:01):
the seniors.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
Huh.

Speaker 6 (24:03):
So I just want to put that out there, and
you have a good day, Lincoln, and have a wonderful holiday.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
All right, Carama, thanks for your.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Call, Bye bye, all right.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
I don't want to.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
Begin to guess who she might be talking about unbelievable.
All right, five one three, seven, four nine twelve thirty.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
Okay, you know what I'm gonna do.

Speaker 4 (24:25):
I'm gonna take calling number six right now. Call her
six at five one three, seven four nine twelve thirty.
If you call her six, I've got a pair of
tickets to the Cincinnati Music Festival July twenty third through
July twenty fifth at pay Course Stadium. Yeah, call her
number six right now at five one three, seven, four

(24:50):
nine twelve thirty. If you call her six, guess what
the tickets are yours? You call her one looking for
number six. You call her two looking for number six.
You call her three looking for number six. Sorry, you're
calling number four.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
You're not right, I'm.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Looking for number six. You call her five, so close,
but I'm looking for number six. Sorry. Hey, guess what? Hey,
you're number six?

Speaker 2 (25:20):
Sweet?

Speaker 1 (25:21):
All right? What's your name?

Speaker 10 (25:22):
Ken?

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Ken? Congratulations? Ken?

Speaker 4 (25:25):
You got yourself a pair of tickets to the Music
festival already? It's December, the music festivals in July, but
you got your tickets now early Christmas present?

Speaker 1 (25:35):
All right? Where you call him from?

Speaker 8 (25:36):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (25:37):
Hemla tiny courts.

Speaker 4 (25:39):

Speaker 4 (25:46):
All right, hold on there, hold on, we'll get some
information from you. And he's calling from the Hamilton And
then yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
They listened down at the courthouse.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
They listened to Lincoln where all over this town, let
me tell you, all over the world, as Brooke Benton,
Brooke Benton would say.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
All over the world. It's a rainy night in George.
All right, let's move along. Let's go to Vernon, Vernon.
How you doing? What's up?

Speaker 9 (26:14):
Man at the house? I ran out of hours yesterday.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Oh yeah, that Yeah, you've been doing You've been doing
some work.

Speaker 9 (26:22):
Well, I've been running since Thanksgiving night. We started back
at midnight, so I didn't even realize that I was
just actually just like in the zone for that paper.
Yeah you know, yeah, back I had seven minutes left.
So but uh, what I called for, I mean what
Karen Mia said. Uh, it's true. I wouldn't have went
there but day you know, Uh, that is true. But

(26:44):
did you see that press conference with head Steff and
Orange blackass? Uh when he called the Commander's heroes? Yeah, yeah,
and him Man Truff sitting next to each other. They
reminded me of it that Muppet uh TV show where
the two old guys up in the balcony would always

(27:04):
be down there the plane and Trump just sitting there
shaking his head, falling asleep. Yeah, and then said they're heroes, Lincoln.
How hard is it to blow up a fishing boat?

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Yeah? Well, what the equipment we have today? You just
you just you just get the courtins and push a button, put.

Speaker 9 (27:25):
The And what I always say, heroes racist and bullies,
they don't match, you know, and they they show what
they are because you're killing people talking about their bringing
dope into the country. But then the president Harton is
one of the biggest don't pushers in the in the world.

(27:46):
They just let this guy, the president. They're biting them
locked up.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (27:49):
I can't think of what country here where they manufactured
the dope that Aarren Twer can probably say you more
about this guy. He just partoned him from, uh, from
whatever country he was. But then you're out here killing
fishermen and you're talking about their heroes and the other
commander you got to want to step down. There's another

(28:10):
one and guess what, he's also black. So there's two
commanders that was in charge of this pack or whatever
they call it. One of them already stepped down, and
there's another one. I saw his picture. He's also black.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
Oh boy, here we go, get the black man to
do the dirty work.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (28:29):
Now, whether he was the one that was actually in
charge of I guess they're going to the actual ship
or whatever. You know, why about how that's a breakdown.
I'm just looking at stuff that I've been seeing that's
been reported all but yeah, they're already trying to duck
and doge talking about he wasn't in the role when
the second strack happened. Really Obama was in the room

(28:49):
watching them do their job. And then when the troops
came home, the Great President Obama saluted every catshire. But
yet we're out here killing fishermen. That's a christ racist
and bully. That's Republican Party.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
That's all I have.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
Brother, all right, thanks for your call, Vernon.

Speaker 4 (29:08):
Okay, Yeah, they somebody's gonna take the fall for all
these guys.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
You know that. I can see it coming now. Somebody
is going to take the fall. It's coming. It's happening,
all right. For some reason, I don't know, Facebook Live
is going crazy today. It just.

Speaker 4 (29:28):
It dropped from two hundred, you know, two hundred plus
down to forty nine and people are saying, what, I
don't know what's going on. I might have to start
it over again. So folks on Facebook Live, if you
get cut off, just hold on. I'll come back again
and we'll get this up and running again. Let's take

(29:51):
a break, we'll come back twelve thirty. The buzz til
one o'clock coming up at one Revenule Shop. Gun keeping
it real, keeping it real, and we're keeping it real
here Today. Marine dies after a training mishap over Camp Pendleton.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
Man.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
You hate to hear that in training. Yeah, So we'll
find out more about that, all right.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
We were talking about the Victory Vistas and how the
mayor was fired up yesterday. He was mad as hell
that the residents of the Victory Vista's got to play,
got to pay double triple, some of them even triple
what they're paying now for rent, and how does that happen,

(30:43):
especially when city money is involved, federal money is involved.
So now they're looking into where any rules violated. What's
up with that? So, I don't know, we will look
into that I see, when does the mayor do? Has

(31:04):
he been on this month yet? I don't think he
has now he hasn't been on this month yet, So
we'll get him in here this month to find out.
I'm sure he'll have all the information. And I hear
he went off on Stanford yesterday too. He's just tired
of it. You know, I'm not gonna take any more
of your stuff the rest of my term. I'm sick

(31:28):
and tired of you, Stanford. That just sounds like something
the mayor might say.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
I see if I can get a recording of that
part of council from yesterday. It might take me a
trip over there to counsel and go up to the
clerk of the Clerk of council to get it, but
it might be worth getting just to hear Stanford get

(31:55):
chewed out by the mayor. He's such a pulp. Let's
go to Sandra Jones, Mitchell, Sandra Jones, how you doing today?

Speaker 7 (32:03):
Hate Lincoln? I am in prayer and I'm always happy.
Let me just assume that Carobi was talking about That's.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
What I assumed, but I didn't want to say. I
didn't want to say it was you, but I kind
of got the feelings she was taught about you.

Speaker 7 (32:16):
Because she knows our relationship, and so it's been challenging
from the day I met her. But one of the
things I will say, I'm gonna always smile. I'm gonna
always be happy. If I'm not doing good, you're gonna
know it because I won't participate. I'm just I don't
know what I would do because I've never been in
that situation where I didn't figure things out. I know
how to pray, I know how to beg for help,
I know how to ask for help. I'm never going

(32:38):
to allow myself to be so the hole that I
don't know where help is. And that's the same way
being an advocate for our seniors. So we're focusing on solutions, right.
We can go up and down city Hall. And I
hate that the mayor had to hear those stories. I
hate that the seniors are going to this. But at
the end of the day, Lincoln, I don't know where
you're going to live in this city or five hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
I mean, yeah, yeah, those days have got out.

Speaker 7 (33:05):
You're gonna have to have some way of supplementing your income.
So I pray that everything works out for Kingsley and
Company because he is a very good guy. I don't
know anyone building housing for seniors unless you're a corporation
bigger than him. So I'm not on this phone to
speak for him, but I am on this phone to
speak on my behalf and the behalf of an organization
that I started and Sounder.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
I know for a fact, all the years has been around,
you've been fighting for seniors.

Speaker 9 (33:32):
I've seen that that's going to change.

Speaker 7 (33:33):
Even in this situation. They're seniors over at their cambridge
now that's being asked to move over here in Oakley.
We're getting those phone calls because they're gonna be They're
gonna have to move. I mean, at some point, we
got to figure out a way to build more housing
in our city for those that can afford it. And
that's a fight that's been going on for the last
several years. So that's not gonna change. But we also

(33:55):
got to make sure that we understand the truth. Right.
So if I'm struggling right now to enterally and I
can't afford to live somewhere, because I'm gonna have to
find a place that I can afford because at the
end of the day. I'm not gonna let you stop
me from making money. Who's at the ac either get
played or you get paid, right, and so at the
end of the day, it's a business. I mean, I

(34:16):
have property. I told my tenant I was going up
four hundred dollars on the rent at the beginning of
next year. She moved this weekend. That's your best bet
because I have not gone up in eight years.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
You're going up four hundred dollars.

Speaker 7 (34:27):
Four hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
That's a lot of money. And that's like another that's
like a car payment for somebody.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
You know, my property, Yes, I know.

Speaker 7 (34:35):
That's why Alicia reaches down there fighting for us. So
it's the insurance on this house, the gas elector I
paid the gas. I pay that in the water, right,
so I'm paying all them.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Oh you paid the gas and electric too.

Speaker 7 (34:45):
Okay, let me tell you. I looked at my m
at the end, I probably make sixty dollars a month
and that's not gonna help the same mind.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
Yeah, you do what you gotta do.

Speaker 7 (34:55):
And that's the same way here. So if anything, seniors,
we got to figure out solutions. Over at the Vista
Cambrich Stanley row. No matter where you're struggling at as
an elder, let's figure out solutions. Because so I's not
going anywhere. We'll be at that building in fact of
business today. I'll be over there today. We have free

(35:16):
food coming in there. I'm gonna talk about the wearing
the blues. Guess what, This is a situation that we're
not running from, and neither is mister chim Kenneby. He's
not running and so we have paid and help folks
with their rent. I have not heard too many of
them say that, right, And that's okay too, because one
of the things you never have to do is prove

(35:36):
what you do. All you got to do is do
the right thing. And we are doing the right thing,
and we're gonna continue. I'm gonna continue to smile. I'm
gonna continue to be happy because I enjoy advocating for
our seniors. And the only reason why I wasn't downtown
yesterday because I really had an important meeting on my
books out of here at Liberty Township. By the time
I would have got downtown find a place to park,

(35:58):
that would have been two thirty three o'clock. I'm not
gonna keep stressing myself out like that. But guess what,
I would have been there, and maybe I'll be there
next Wednesday because I am an advocate, and I will
advocate for these seniors until I can't advocate no more.
So I'm gonna keep smelling Miss Carmine. I hope to
see you today, right because she knows that I know

(36:18):
who she is.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
What's happening today? What's happening today?

Speaker 7 (36:21):
We just have a program. Check out our website. We
do activities all my long. Yes, yes, we had throwing
class yesterday. We do activities all month long and virtually
free for the most part, but it takes time and energy.
I would love to be at the pool right now.
I would love to be at the pool. I go
to the pool every day, but today I got something
else to do. But I'm an advocate. I'm gonna always

(36:43):
be an advocate. I'm not gonna run from this situation.
That's when you really start praying even harder. When things
get hard, people run. You don't have to run. You
need to stay there and fight. And that's exactly what
we're all doing. We're at the office all the time
figuring out resources. So I'm saying to them, help find
the resources, come up with some solutions just in case

(37:05):
you have to move. Stop looking right, and then get
your families involved. But you can fight this fight. It
could carry out. He has not got no but anybody's
rent Lincoln. You're still paying the same amount of rent
and you haven't been evicted, you know what I mean.
You just got to fight for the increase. And I
pray to God that everything walks works herself out. And
again I'm an advocate and that'll never changed it. And

(37:27):
Car I'm gonna always be happy see you today since
I'll be there at three o'clock.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
All right, Sandra Jones, thanks for your call. That's Sandra Jones.
And believe it or not, she says she's raising her
rent four hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
Guess what.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
People will be knocking at her door wanting to rent
that apartment. She'll have a line of people wanting to rent.
She's paying the gas and electric two. They'll be lined
up at her door trying to fill out of that
application to get that. I don't know whether she's what

(38:03):
she rent in a town, townhouse, a condo, I don't know,
but there'll be a line. There will be a line
Jeremiah JJ Moore. This kid who died in February of
twenty four in a cold basement, starved by adults who

(38:27):
were supposed to care for him. The woman who adopted him,
Tamra Moore, is now serving at least fifteen years in prison.
Her longtime partner, Willim Turnage, is also in prison. The
person who officials say care for Jeremiah. His grandmother died
a few months before he did. The sixteen year old,

(38:49):
who had a form of autism that left him mostly
entirely nonverbal, had no other family. He didn't have anyone
to claim his body or a memorial service for his funeral.
But on December third, two years after his death and

(39:09):
a month after Tomorrow, More pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter
and was sentenced. A memorial service was held for Jeremiah
at the Vine Street Cemetery in Cincinnati's Avondale neighborhood. Man,
that's just horrible what they did to that kid. If

(39:33):
they didn't want to care for him, just tell the
people who put you in charge of his care, just
tell him you can't care for him anymore. Don't starve
the kid to death.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
His therapist spoke during the service, described how he worked
tirelessly to be able to express himself mostly through body
language and sounds. Talked about Jeremiah and his grandmother. They
had a special bond. Unbelievable. What happens to these kids

(40:14):
in the care of some of these foster parents nowadays,
it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (40:20):
Real not only foster parents, they have real parents. It's
crazy some of the stuff that happens. Let's take a
break for news, then we'll come back. Stepan Jay Joan
all holding on the Lincoln Wear Show twelve thirty the
buzz Way sometime between now and one o'clock. So your

(40:42):
chance to win is still out there. Yeah, all right,
let's move along. Five, one, three, seven, four, nine, twelve thirty. Stepan,
you are on hold at the end of the show yesterday.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
How you doing? Hey?

Speaker 2 (40:54):
Hey, I'm doing fine. Brother Lincoln is glass for having me?

Speaker 8 (40:57):
Brother?

Speaker 1 (40:57):
Now? Where you at city all yesterday?

Speaker 2 (41:00):
Yes, sir, Yes, sir. I like to talk about that too,
But let me get to this first, Nikka before I
get to the nitty gritty. Because man I recorded that
that was mister Stafford Poole. He was saying the right stuff.
He just he just broke our marror down. He broke
our mirror down. He broke it down. Usually don't break
his silence. He broke his silence.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
Yes he did.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Yesterday, Yes he did.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
Said mayor said, hey, I'm elected. Now I'm not taking it.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
Lincoln, you said that. He didn'll say that.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
Ain't ain't taking nothing from you. You know what I
want to say.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
Hold on the well, come back to that, nigga, think
and I want to talk about this vb L vacant building,
building building a license. Lincoln one of a friend of mine.
He went through this as he didn't pay his taxes.
He paid his taxes now on his property. He got
the vacant building license perment thirty five hundred, he got

(41:54):
a contract of four thousands, he got an eighth VACK
permit seven hundred electric and commitment five hundred. Right now
he's in compliance.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
So what they needed to do, right, Okay.

Speaker 2 (42:07):
Follow me, follow me. So when the judge put the
property into the receivership hand until the owners, that's gonna
that's not just say him owners that they've been doing this. Lady.
Once the owners get up the compliance, up the cold
and everything, they should get their property back from the receiver.

Speaker 4 (42:25):
Correct that the case, Yes, unless we're missing something I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
Hold on, hold on, did may get to you? It'll
solve that problem. First of all, when the receiver and
the judge put the property receiver hand to make sure
the owner get up the compliance right, but the receiver
hurry up and works on the property without the permission
is on the owners. Hes gonna find contractors with the

(42:54):
highest bid to do some work that he want to
do some work.

Speaker 1 (42:57):
And then the owner has to pay for the contractors.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
Got the owner got to pay the not just the contractors. Nah,
he's gonna have to pay the receiver sixty thousand or
more to get his property or her property back. And
that's a scam. They need to do amendment on that
and get rid of that end bacon buildings license. We
understand you gotta pay that permit. Understand that now they
put that into the laws. So first of all, this

(43:24):
receiver just jumped on there. That wasn't inside that amendment
once they first passed talking about the bacon buildings like
maintenance wise.

Speaker 1 (43:32):
In other words, was the owner supposed to come up
to code do all the work that needs to be done.
Was he supposed to hire people to get that done.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
Lincoln, I just I just told you he's supposed to
pay his taxes. He's supposed to say, say, if he
got a fine for not paying his taxes, okay, we're
gonna put a receiver ancy you pay your taxes. Boom.
He did all that, he paid everything else along the way,
but not do no foundation work on the man property.
Didn't give him a sixty or her property a sixty
thousand dollars bill. Then they then you can't pay that bill.

(44:04):
You done pay of the FeAs and everything, but now
you got to pay sixty thousand dollars or more. And
you know, well black corson got all that money's in
the round. Next thing you know, they put a land
on your propery and take it. If you don't pay
that bill, that's a scam. They need to get rid
of that. They need to get rid of that. A
sap man. That's dirty, Lincoln, that's real, real dirty of
how they're doing black people.

Speaker 4 (44:23):
Well, somehow, somehow something's missing out of this step out.
I don't know what it is, all the ins and outs,
but it seemed like they probably gave the owner enough
time to fix it himself.

Speaker 2 (44:36):
What Lincoln. You can have people calling that went through
that receiving the tailor. Lincoln on the phone. It's not
the no on once to judge say and as facts
and all that come to court and solicitors, well, he
need to pay this for this is a gutters He
needed to pay this for roof stuff like that. They
give it up a compliance. The receivers still do his

(44:57):
end to get get part of that money. Bro make
money from the owners to homeowners. That's dirty what they do.

Speaker 1 (45:03):
Somehow we're still missing some part of this, Lincoln. It's
not sounding right, it's not sounding legal.

Speaker 2 (45:11):
But they're doing that, Lincoln. They're doing that. I'm going
that ain't gonna sound right. Yeah, they doing that for real.
It's OTR DOT doing that, Lincoln. David Man's son, Michael Man,
as a lawyer, as you Suoster, sit on the board
of OTR DOC. He's been coming along to get money
that way too, Lincoln. That's dirty with anyboure. That's a
game they playing, Lincoln. They were all playing black people.

(45:34):
But let's get to the nitty gritty Lincoln. Yes, the
nitty gritty yesterday down the city Hall, Yeah, I did say,
Sonny Jones where you at? I did say that show
enough did I used to help uh?

Speaker 1 (45:46):
Sandy Jones? Sundra Jones is one person. She's a senior
citizen herself, I believe. And she's not getting paid to
do this.

Speaker 4 (45:57):
She doesn't like she said she had another point ment
and she couldn't get down there.

Speaker 1 (46:02):
So why you said, where's Sandra Jones? She didn't do
this stuff?

Speaker 2 (46:05):
She's not Lincoln? Lincoln, Why did you even say that
this way?

Speaker 1 (46:09):
Why did you say that?

Speaker 2 (46:10):
I don't get I don't get paid the advocation with
all my fingers at all either, But I do it
from the heart, brother, and the mind. Brother.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
And but you don't always you can't make everything, and
you can't always be there all the time.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
Can't understand that. I understand that. But I'm getting to
the committed, gritty way here. I helped the new way before,
talked about some taxes for him before. I helped him
out on that. I even came to the function when
you was over there. The marrior was over there. Ye,
But Lincoln, you don't play no damn people like that.
You do not play people.

Speaker 4 (46:43):
Okay, now let me ask you, was that was there
anything in their least agreement that said after one year
you must get your get a voucher to supplement your
rent increase, which will happen in twenty twenty six or
what it was something.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
Well, I'm glad you said that, brother, I'm glad you
said that. That building over a million dollars to the city,
all right, and the city gave him a castabat and
it was it was a covenant signed by the city
for the tenants to have rights up under that contract.

Speaker 1 (47:18):
Okay, rights, right, right, okay.

Speaker 2 (47:22):
Rights that means the rights are they living in their condition,
how the rent is and everything that's right?

Speaker 1 (47:26):
Okay, right, you don't have anything to do with rent increase?

Speaker 8 (47:30):
Right?

Speaker 2 (47:31):
Yes to do if you right? Yes, you did, yes
to do?

Speaker 1 (47:35):
I don't know rights.

Speaker 6 (47:36):
You know.

Speaker 1 (47:36):
Rights could mean they can let somebody spend the night
with him or something. I don't know whether you can
right to have anything to do with rent increase.

Speaker 2 (47:47):
We're gonna let mister phil Rich he's the lawyer for them,
he said, the developers and violation. That's what he said, okay, and.

Speaker 4 (47:53):
That that can be and I you know if he
is believe me, they will find they will find it.

Speaker 1 (47:59):
If he is in violation. They will have it in
less than a week.

Speaker 4 (48:02):
I'm sure by the next city Council meeting they'll have
some information.

Speaker 2 (48:06):
But I'm just saying, Lincoln, you can't play those seniors.
You cannot play our seniors. Brother, And that's dirty. And
I did deterred. You say one hundred men choir, I
said them, hundred damn men should have been down at
city Hall advocate for the singers, because every man came
from a woman's wounds. And I look at I look
at it like that. Brother, I heard you say that
on the radio. A hundred choirs. They need to came

(48:26):
down and advocate ministers. Repindent do his thing. We need
them other ministers just reaching the gospel. Y'all need have
been down at the city Hall to advocate for our seniors. Man,
this is serious what they're doing west End community a council.
We know they do it half ass job, but they
just fighting for the soccer stated but I ain't fighting
for the people, but the West End residents and cousins

(48:48):
and family, y'all see this, this, this, this what's happening
with our seniors. They need they ask need to be
just like that at city Hall, packing it out and
do the same thingingom things just did something powerful. Lincoln.

Speaker 1 (49:03):
Yeah, but I look, if he's not in violation of
any federal laws, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
I don't know.

Speaker 10 (49:12):
Are you a lawyer?

Speaker 4 (49:13):
Have you looked at all the whats and dos and don'ts?
Have you looked at the papers?

Speaker 2 (49:19):
Look who side you want?

Speaker 1 (49:20):
I'm on this.

Speaker 4 (49:21):
I'm on whoever's right side. You know, if the tenants
are right, I'm on their side. I'm on the side of.

Speaker 2 (49:28):
Right, Lincoln, Lincoln. First of all, you might.

Speaker 1 (49:33):
Be on the side of wrong.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
Our singers know what's going on, Linco don't know what's
going on.

Speaker 1 (49:38):
And that people wait, hold on.

Speaker 4 (49:40):
People were so excited to sign that lease for six
hundred dollars, you know, five hundred dollars a month, seven
hundred do whatever they were paying. They were so excited
they didn't read the fine print.

Speaker 1 (49:53):
Probably, I don't know, Lincoln, Lincoln.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
Some of the some of the singers and singing for
so long, long time, Lincoln. They done gave their blood
and sweat and tears for many years, Lincoln, of their life.

Speaker 10 (50:04):
Brother.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
It doesn't matter. It sounds good linking what they were doing.
I was there at that time they did that ceremony.
Last year's December the fifth, twenty twenty four. I was there, Lincoln,
and that's super wrong. Lincoln. If you getting money, if
you're getting money from the city, something wrong, something gotta
be wrong. Mary was up there shaking Lincoln. He was

(50:26):
he was up there shaking bro one of his fries.

Speaker 1 (50:29):
Yeah, he was mad. He was mad.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
That's what you He was shaking. Guess what, Lincoln. If
we get watched this, Lincoln he was shaking, he gave
He gave himself here and gave himself up. If we
if we keep loud and stuff that happened, it been happening, Lincoln.
He just got caught.

Speaker 1 (50:48):
Who got caught? How did the mayor get caught?

Speaker 2 (50:50):
No? No, yeah, what a the developer.

Speaker 1 (50:52):
Got Oh yeah, yeah, we were shaking the mayor of
the developer.

Speaker 2 (50:56):
Or listen to watch this follow me. The mayor was shaken.
He was so nervous talking about it. So think about it.
If we don't pass this to other developers that came
through through through the council and wrote these a members
and deal with lobbyists and made the sub passed through.
You see things played reperdents too. Like this Lincoln, and
they got away with it.

Speaker 1 (51:17):
Well, like I said, we have to look, we have
to look at the paperwork, we have to look at
that before we come to any and the mayor. I'm
sure they've got the solicitor looking at every fine detail.

Speaker 2 (51:31):
They messed up, brother, he messed up. It's just like this,
who messed up? If you're playing people like wait, you.

Speaker 1 (51:38):
Keep saying he who messed up?

Speaker 2 (51:40):
Tell me who who wrong? Who owned the mister Prince,
I'll just.

Speaker 1 (51:44):
Say it was in Duke Way. Just say in Duke
Way messed up.

Speaker 2 (51:47):
Just say that he messed up.

Speaker 1 (51:49):
Because you're going from one person that the mayor one
minute and then they.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
He but Lincoln. I'm just saying when I went to
the maryor, he was shaking talking about it. He said,
this is wrong, it's unjust, this is blah blah blah. Right.
I'm just saying, all the developments came down and get
these tax debatments. Lincoln. They've been playing a community like
that for years, Lincoln, and all of a sudden they
messed with They found they found this stuff. Way he did.

(52:15):
I guess he tried to think he can get away
with it. Well, we're gonna jack they rent up there
high one year. That's dirty, all right, super dirty. A right, Lincoln,
I'm gonna tell you this, Lincoln. Yes, we as the
black community. If we don't wake wake our asses up, Lincoln,
we're doomed. Lincoln the chicken come home the roof to
see all this stuff. Now God has shown us. And now, brothers,

(52:35):
I better pay attention now, brothers, and be on the
right side.

Speaker 1 (52:39):
Brother Thanks for your call. Okay. And then Duke Way
has got lawyers too.

Speaker 4 (52:46):
Matter of fact, I know one of his lawyers, and
believe me, he has had them pouring over the least agreements,
the the the tax obatement agreements, the Federal of dollars agreements.
He's at them, pour over everything to find out if

(53:08):
he's in compliance or not.

Speaker 1 (53:12):
He's got lawyers too looking at this stuff. You know
he's got lawyers too. So before you say anything, Stefan,
who was wrong, Let's wait and see. Let's just wait
and see what they come up with. Just wait and see.

(53:35):
Let's take a break. He wore me out. He's shaking,
he was stop saying he he he give me names,
name names.

Speaker 9 (53:46):
I'm gonna do my best.

Speaker 1 (53:48):
Twelve thirty the Buzz DJ when that song was out, Man,
we were playing that like crazy DJ's when we're out
at the club playing that song. That was like early eighties.

Speaker 4 (54:02):
I think, Yeah, last night a DJ saved my life,
all right five p one three, seven, four, nine, twelve
thirty Lincoln wear with you, And.

Speaker 1 (54:15):
I mean, we don't know who's fault it is. We
don't know whether it's in Duke Way trying to get over.
It's certainly not the mayor's fault. They all had good intentions.

Speaker 4 (54:27):
They gave money to make sure these seniors would have
a place to stay at a low price. How you
gonna blame the mayor somebody? Lincoln fighting for the man.
Whatever happened, it's not his fault. They tried to help.
They gave money, abatements and everything. They tried to make
this project work. And that's why he's so upset, because

(54:51):
they've got skin in the game and these people might
have to move.

Speaker 1 (55:01):
Yeah, Okay, I mean I just see what is Nate
Livingston saying said that you think speaking at city Hall
is anything like speaking on commercial radio? Vernon Jordan Okay,
I don't know what they're talking about, but anyway, Vernon

(55:22):
Jordan says that the city was probably desperate to do
business with a black property developer, and that could be
true too. It makes those numbers look good. Yeah. Somebody asked,
was I doing the snake while talking? Yeah? Boy, yeah,

(55:43):
you pay too much attention to what I'm doing. You're
supposed to be listening, not watching my every move. Geez
oh boy, let me fasten my seatbelt. Here comes Joan.
How you doing?

Speaker 6 (55:58):
Yeah? Yeah, here it comes when it.

Speaker 3 (56:03):
Comes to the vista? What is a Victory Vista? Yes, okay,
they apparently, I believe they got funding what they call
l i HTC, that's Low Income Housing Ties Credit. Yes,
if you get any funding for that, they have to

(56:24):
allocate so many of those units that they've built at
and where they rented out at a certain you know, uh,
the rent has to be at a certain you know,
low income all right, yes, and they have to rent
it out for a certain period of time and it's
not a year, all right. So I'm sure they are

(56:46):
in violation if they're trying to increase it. And what
people have to understand when it comes to that's reason
why I was so upset, which you know, when I
learned that we put these same Uncil people back into
office because they are the ones are bringing these developers

(57:06):
in here, and these developers are not helping the citizens.
We have to understand when they're talking about thirty percent
of AMI, sixty percent of AMI, stop saying that give
people numbers.

Speaker 1 (57:22):
I know, I hate that. I hate when they do
that of the property way, you know, I hate that.
I hate those numbers like that.

Speaker 3 (57:30):
Just do that to cover up. But the point that
I really want to make people better understand this stuff
that you're talking about. They're correcting housing by low affordable
about affordable housing that is not affordable housing. People. You
have to understand that it's not for low income, all right,

(57:50):
it's for giving these developers money to help build these
large buildings, and they are the ones that capitalizing on it.
All right. Now, when you're talking about like when I
did my building, all right, I didn't go to anyone.
Nobody gave me any money to do it. And I
just feel even if we contribute money, whether it's federal money,

(58:13):
state dollars, or local dollars, those dollars shall reflect the
help the people in the you know, whatever state or
local government, it should help us not to make these
these developer rench because that man is pulling probably anywhere,
even if his rent is sony a thousand dollars a month,

(58:36):
he's pulling fifty grand a more a month, and that's
only one thousand dollars, okay, but not to mention if
he's going fifteen or twelve, multiply at times the number
of units. And that's what he did a month. And
for the people that always talking about, oh, I have
to cover myself because I gotta make money. And this

(58:57):
is why I got to raise my rent. So I
got apartment building. You know what, I read myself for
thirty percent of anybody's income.

Speaker 2 (59:06):
Okay, I do that.

Speaker 3 (59:08):
One makes me do that because you know the reason
why I do that, Lincoln, Because that person only make
those dollars, so I can't pour any more from them.
And I do not have a round down building. I
did that building from scratch.

Speaker 1 (59:22):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (59:23):
And what I did was when even came to h
fact that it had a boiler in there, and instead
of me using you know, keeping that in because then
I'm on the hook for the all of the heat
and knowledge that right, I got rid of that. I
put all h back, all new you know, fer instance,
and everything in there. So then the unit.

Speaker 6 (59:44):
I mean the furnace.

Speaker 3 (59:46):
Yeah, and they pay their own all right, their own
gas and electric. But I'm not trying to capitalize. Yeah yeah,
I'm there to make money, but I'm not trying to
do it off the skin of seniors and what people
always use, you know, or we're helping sings. Oh, we're
helping kids, but nobody really stop and look at what

(01:00:08):
is really happening and the outcome of it. And it
happens all the time.

Speaker 4 (01:00:14):
All right, Joan, I can't let you talk long like
you normally do, but I gotta run.

Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
I hear you, all right, Well, I'll call back in
another couple of days to the people in Cincinnati. We
need to really hear this, yes, because when it comes
to I elected officials, they always give our tax dollars
to people and we don't get anything in return. And
we need to stop there. And that's the way that
we can do it. People, We can do it. We

(01:00:40):
don't have to take this crap off of this all right.
Let me just say one other thing and I'll ended
quickly the way we can end it. And a lot
of people don't want to hear this is we have
two tools to fight our government when they're not helping us,
through initiative petitions and referendum people.

Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
All right, jot change it.

Speaker 4 (01:00:57):
Thanks for your call. All right, John, lets let's go
to in Duke Way. Gentleman Dukeway, the owner.

Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
Of the Victory Vista. How you doing, Jen oh Man.

Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
I'm doing well.

Speaker 10 (01:01:09):
I'm in transit, but I got word that it might
make some sense to provide some clarity. Lincoln, I appreciate
you taking taking the time.

Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
Yes, yes, please do of course. You know, were you
at city Hall yesterday?

Speaker 10 (01:01:21):
I was not. I was not enough this morning and
saw a bunch of text messages and notes asking if
I was down there. Yeah, I didn't know anything about it.
We got we got word on our team that that
was happening yesterday late, but it's it's unfortunate. I just
want to make sure we're clear that you know, as
an owner of the landlord, we were well within our

(01:01:43):
right to start that eviction process I think in October,
but we made the conscious decision not to do that
because one and before any media attention to any of that,
you know, it's not how we operate. We're not building
housing to displace people. So we've been trying to work
with a number of residents. No one has gotten an
eviction notice, is no one if it's up to us.

(01:02:04):
No one wants to wants to evict anybody. So we're
working with people, were working with c m AHA to
try to find some long term solutions.

Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
So well, let me ask you this. Let me ask
you this.

Speaker 4 (01:02:14):
With the tax abatements you got and with the federal breaks,
tax breaks you got to build that building, are you
in any violation if you raise their rents?

Speaker 10 (01:02:25):
No? No, I mean, first of all, we as you
just outlined this, this is a very transparent, very regulated space.
I mean, we are in compliance until we've been told otherwise.
I mean, and and so that's that's the the irony,
Lincoln is we have done nothing wrong. We treat everybody
the same way we've I've treated you as as a

(01:02:46):
friend and a person with respect. And you know, no
one's been evicted. We're not We're not trying to evict anybody,
but we do need some support, I mean it. And
the issue here is the affordable housing is complex. It's
not easy. It's something that we're we're doing willingly. We
learn every single day. I do think we could have

(01:03:10):
done some things differently. We just so you know, we
have transition property management companies. We brought in another group
called Beacon Property Management. I think they have a ton
of great experience. I think it's gonna be a good
thing for the building. We also hired a new compliance
person on site because we our firm doesn't do compliance,

(01:03:30):
We don't do property management. It's third party, and so
we trust our our professionals. A. J. Johnson highly successful.
But no, we're not. We're not in default of anything.
We're we're highly compliant and we're going to continue to
do so. And by the way, Lincoln, if if at
any point someone tells us otherwise, well as anybody is
expected to, will address it and move forward.

Speaker 1 (01:03:51):
But okay, so yeah, if they come back and say,
well we found you in violation, you can't raise this
person's rent from six hundred dollars a month to thirteen
hundred dollars a month. You can only raise it fifty
dollars a month or something like that. What would you
do then, is it would it be? I mean, can
you keep the building if they keep paying the same
rent they're paying?

Speaker 10 (01:04:12):
Listen, So First of all, no one is, no one
is paying anything above the thirty or sixty percent AMI
rate period. That is it's an affordable housing project. I
mean that that's why we are doing this, to provide
housing for our seniors. And so I want to make
sure that's clear. Yes, but yeah, if there is an

(01:04:33):
issue which no one has told us there is, okay,
we would address it. And and I you know what,
I what, I'm what, I'm blown away by. This is
a good conversation. But the fact is, no other landlord
would ever be drug out like this, uh in front
of city Hall for potentially issuing notices. It's it's unfortunate,

(01:04:56):
but I can take it. We're we're in. We're going
to continue to do good work in the City of Cincinnat. Uh,
even though I heard there are some other comments that
were making not doing work. Have you heard work on
Blair Face two? And Uh? We're building forty nine new
affordable housing units and so we plan to stay complying
with that as well.

Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
Okay, Now, have you heard from the mayor since yesterday?

Speaker 6 (01:05:16):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:05:16):
No, no, I have not.

Speaker 10 (01:05:17):
But we we've been in contact with city city administration,
their their economic development in community impact Roy Hackworth and
Marquette Carterson's October I mean this is h I mean,
as you know, I think this is not a new situation. Yeah,
we've been working collaboratively with our residents and then you know,
we we we heard that the Homeless Coalition busts a

(01:05:39):
number of residents down I mean, I think it's pretty
sad that that that happened. From the standpoint it's freezing cold,
what the roads aren't great, and you know they're taking
down down there. And in the reality is we were
working with all those individuals, and so.

Speaker 1 (01:05:54):
No one has received an eviction notice.

Speaker 10 (01:05:57):
That's correct.

Speaker 1 (01:05:58):
No one has been.

Speaker 4 (01:06:00):
You got to leave here by January fifteenth or something.
Nobody has received correct, Okay, And and.

Speaker 10 (01:06:07):
If it's up to us, no one will. I mean
that's the irony. So again, I would I would ask
any other landlord if they've ever been a part of
something like this. I've never even heard of. People are
coming to me and telling me that they've never seen
anything like this before.

Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
So but I'm not.

Speaker 10 (01:06:23):
Surprised that we're going to continue to do good work
in the city and across the state of Ohio and Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (01:06:29):
All Right, Well, we found out no one has received
an eviction notice and if you have anything to do
with it, they won't receive one. And you're working, you
trying to make this thing happen.

Speaker 10 (01:06:40):
We are going to continue to work with the State
of Ohio, Hamilton County, City of Cincinnati, and you know,
any council member that wants to reach out, you know
we were available. I mean, so we've been in consistent
communication with with city staff as directed by the city manager,
and we're going to continue to I mean, cause again,
like I said, if there is an issue, will fix it.

(01:07:00):
But we're we're not trying to get this Let let
this misinformation cloud the good work our team is doing
in the City of Cincinnati.

Speaker 4 (01:07:07):
I mean, because there's not a whole lot of housing
opening up for seniors at that price.

Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
I mean, it's not out Listen and listen.

Speaker 10 (01:07:16):
I mean, Lincoln, we just broke ground on the Blair
Face Phase two of Blair Loss forty nine units. We
already have people calling us about availability when that's going
to be done. I mean, And and by the way,
no one talked about that, no one wrote about it.
So it is what it is. We're used to it.
And but We're gonna keep doing, continue to do the
good work.

Speaker 1 (01:07:36):
All right. Now, do you think maybe you started off
a little too low with the rent.

Speaker 4 (01:07:41):
And we wouldn't even be going through this now if
you had maybe gone up a little more than what
you started off with. And what does it say on
the the least agreement of the tenants. Does it say
anything about a rent increasing after a year?

Speaker 10 (01:07:56):
Yeah, listen, I'll take ownership for that, you know. And
but we we do hire third party property management.

Speaker 1 (01:08:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:08:05):
I think that could have been clearly communicated better. Yeah.
And you know, through this whole process, we've all learned.
Like I said, we have pivoted property management companies.

Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (01:08:15):
We we hire Beacon who manages a number of units.
They're very successful, good at compliance. But yet in every
single lease there is notice that says, hey, your rent
could go up. But again, you know, this is affordable
housing we're talking about, and it's it's easy for people
to get out and say, you know, over ours statements,
but the reality is it's a complex situation.

Speaker 1 (01:08:37):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (01:08:37):
In affordable housing, it's not easy to build or manage
or maintain. But we're we are taking on that challenge
and we do it willingly.

Speaker 4 (01:08:43):
All right, well, keep in touch, let us know of
any more developments. The mayor was fired up. I will
tell you this. The mayor was fired up at the
council yesterday. I've never seen ay Mac like that before.
So he was. He was upset, visibly upset.

Speaker 10 (01:08:58):
Yeah. I wasn't present, but I mean I'm not hard
to find. People can get a hold of me. Yes,
And like I said, we'll always treat people the right
way with respect.

Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
All right, we'll talk to you. Thanks for calling in.
We appreciate it. All right. All right, there you go,
chinning duke way. And he just called in. I didn't
solicit his call, you know, I didn't get in touch
with him. He just called in and laid it out there.
So I think what I'm hearing is that the people

(01:09:29):
who were managing the place when they came up with
their rental agreements, maybe he didn't check them out to
see what they were saying about that a year after
you hear the rent is going up.

Speaker 4 (01:09:43):
He says, that could be what he missed. And so
we'll see, we will see. Let's take a break and
then we'll come back. Every line is busy, and we'll
talk to the Dukes So we got another Jones says
she's a Victory Vista tenant. We got Margie Mustap Buss,
Sister Regina, and Shaqui all holding on twelve thirty the buzz.

(01:10:06):
Let's go over to the Dukester and find out what's cooking.
And I wanted to ask you, I mentioned to yesterday,
did you have Chitlin's on Thanksgiving Day for your Thanksgiving
dinners at the Dukester?

Speaker 11 (01:10:17):
Thinking we most certainly did. And I want to tell
you something, Lincoln, I would be willing to bet you
at over sixty five percent of your listening audience loves
old timers. Oh, they were kind of breaking our door
down and we ran out, But I got some exciting
news for it, and I'll tell them about that tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
Okay.

Speaker 11 (01:10:37):
Anyway, good morning, buzz listens, and happy free Sight Thursday.
It's a great day to be alive and it's a
great day to be hungry. Now, Lincoln, you may be
a little young to remember Queen Anne's Bar downtown, Well, yeah,
I remember.

Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
I just want you to know.

Speaker 11 (01:10:52):
They are noticed for having those big.

Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
Jelly jar drinks.

Speaker 10 (01:10:57):
Folks.

Speaker 11 (01:10:57):
I wanted to tell you all you needed was one
and that certainly get you there.

Speaker 6 (01:11:02):
Well.

Speaker 11 (01:11:02):
The reason I mentioned that, Lincoln, is they're having the
Queen am Resunion Saturday, seventy thirteenth at the Cali Bar
and Grill located in twelve twenty seven California Avenue, from
seven to eleven. It shouldn't be a blast. I'm gonna
probably try to check it out. That's tonight, folks, issues
that happened to need a great meal sometimes today, make
sure you stop by the Dukes and take advantage of

(01:11:24):
our free side dish offer that last until seven o'clock.
On our menu today, Lincoln is our golden sounding croquettes
with the macaroni and cheese and green means. Or check
out those delicious catfish nuggets with steak fries and coalslaugh.
Or maybe you have a taste for the best baby
beef living onions in the Cincinnati with rice and gravy

(01:11:45):
and fried apples.

Speaker 2 (01:11:46):
But my pick for.

Speaker 11 (01:11:47):
Today, Lincoln is our tender barbecue rib tips with that
one of the kind barbecue sauce with baked beans and
cold fall.

Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
Have a last day, everybody. We'll talk at you later, Lincoln.

Speaker 4 (01:11:58):
All right, that's the dukester right there in the Summit
Plaza on Ready Road. All right, five one, three, seven, four, nine,
twelve thirty. If ever a line becomes available, let's go
to Jones says she's a tenant over Victory Vista.

Speaker 8 (01:12:13):
Joon, Hi, Lincoln. I was coupling to get some clarification.
I heard, uh a gentleman that was speaking saint that
the parameters for affordable or low income housing round between
thirty to sixty percent of someone's income.

Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
I'm not sure who are you talking about? In Duke
Way the guy.

Speaker 8 (01:12:39):
Just talked to or Yeah, yeah, I'm.

Speaker 4 (01:12:42):
Not sure what I know. He said thirty percent. I'm
not sure I heard sixty.

Speaker 8 (01:12:46):
Oh okay, because I know I pay over fifty percent.

Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
Okay, okay, okay. See so.

Speaker 4 (01:12:56):
When Trump okay, when did you How long have you
been there?

Speaker 8 (01:13:02):
I moved in in January last year?

Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
Last year?

Speaker 8 (01:13:06):
Okay, wow, okay, jive.

Speaker 1 (01:13:09):
And so are you going to get an increase? Did
they tell you you're you are?

Speaker 8 (01:13:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:13:14):
Gee, and you're paying fifty now.

Speaker 8 (01:13:17):
Yeah, so that's going to be almost like sixty percent
of my income?

Speaker 4 (01:13:21):
Oh boy, well, everybody said he said sixty, So he
said thirty to sixty. So, uh yeah, you'll be right
there at your cap right there, sixty percent?

Speaker 1 (01:13:34):
Man?

Speaker 8 (01:13:35):
Well, I mean that do they think that you're going
to get some increase on your face.

Speaker 1 (01:13:42):
Or they might give you a cost of living increase
which will be very small normally, so you know that's
all the increase you could count on as your cost
of living increase.

Speaker 8 (01:13:55):
Yeah, like ten dollars.

Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
Geez man, boy.

Speaker 8 (01:14:01):
Yeah, but I also wanted to know it's still considered
a senior living commutedy.

Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
Uh, yeah, because you have to be at least fifty
five years old to live there.

Speaker 8 (01:14:15):
Okay, when if he's listening, I hope he still is.
What are you guys going to put up a sign?
I trust into building because they had a banner initially
that said Victory Visita Senior Living Rights. Anymore, it's not identified.
There's no signage on Victory Parkway or on Asthmin.

Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
Okay, I'll ask him about that the next time I
talked to him.

Speaker 8 (01:14:43):
Yeah, because I thought, I thought, well, maybe it's no
longer you know, designated for seniors. I'm people with disabilities. Now,
we do have some here who are it's supposed to
be a candicapped and disabled.

Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
Yeah, yeah, it's supposed to be a senior building a time.

Speaker 8 (01:15:02):
Well, I guess I'm already pressed.

Speaker 4 (01:15:06):
Wow, man, okay, I hate the pride, But how much
are you paying for a month in rent?

Speaker 1 (01:15:13):
Now?

Speaker 8 (01:15:16):
Almost eleven hundred dollars a month and that's going to
go up to over we almost twelve hundred. Jeez, man,
I didn't get you know twice?

Speaker 9 (01:15:29):
Well like that?

Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
Well, what about a hood voucher or something like that?

Speaker 8 (01:15:34):
Is that I don't have a voucher? I mean, is
that I think a ten year waiting list? Oh boy, yeah,
to be able to get something like that, Well.

Speaker 4 (01:15:44):
They're supposed to try to have some kind of deal
with the Hood to maybe get you guys some vouchers.

Speaker 8 (01:15:53):
That would be wonderful. I think I would more than qualify.

Speaker 4 (01:15:57):
Yeah, so you might want to pay attention to what's
going on at city Hall and the mayor is working
on something. They say they gotta come up with something.

Speaker 7 (01:16:06):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
I wouldn't pack my bags yet, Joan.

Speaker 8 (01:16:08):
If I were well, well, I tried to attend the
meeting if they had recently downstairs, and I was ushered
out and told that it didn't involve me.

Speaker 1 (01:16:16):
Really, who ushered you out?

Speaker 8 (01:16:19):
Of the tenants?

Speaker 4 (01:16:21):
One of the tenants. See, that's what I'm saying. Some
of these folks in these buildings.

Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
They try to take up You know, you should say,
I'm paying rent here, Yes, I am involved. How do
they tell you you're not involved?

Speaker 6 (01:16:39):
Well?

Speaker 8 (01:16:39):
There there, there is an office here in the building,
and I just thought to myself, I'll go in there
and ask the person that sitting at desk or go down, get.

Speaker 1 (01:16:49):
Up, get that person, get that person's.

Speaker 8 (01:16:51):
Name, informed that the meetings are being held, like an
email or anything. And then when I, you know, was
exiting the building or not star everyone in the community room.
I attempted to just go in there and stand and
listen and see what's going on. But I was told
it didn't involve me.

Speaker 1 (01:17:07):
So, oh boy, next time, just say it doesn't I
pay rent here, It involves me, and I'm staying. And
get that person's name if you can. Okay, okay, and
give me a full report. Joan, Thank thanks for your call.
All right, geez, I tell you some of these folks
out of control. All right.

Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
We got Felicia Beckham. We'll talk to her after the break.
On twelve thirty, the buzz I mean sister Regina Shaqui.
Hold on, we coming do you. But right now we
got Felicia Beckham from Closing the Health Gap and Felicia,
you're the founder and president of the Cincinnati Black Nurse
Practitioner Network and they're having that big Caregivers session that's

(01:17:49):
coming up.

Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
Tell us a little bit about it, oh, thanky.

Speaker 12 (01:17:55):
So we just wanted just to lift up caregivers as
we know that caregivers put others first, which too often
mean that they sacrifice their own health. So caregiving is
love and action, but often it feels like stress, confusion,
and anxiety. So we want to make sure we continue
to celebrate the caregivers all year. So we're offering to
support this Thursday at ten am to two pm in

(01:18:19):
form of a community conversation with mental health practitioners. So
we want you to come out, bring a friend, bring
a family member, because oftentimes caregiver role is not talked
about and caregivers often fill alone. So at its best,
we want to make sure we bring in a collaborative
group effort.

Speaker 1 (01:18:38):
Said you said Thursday, but it's Saturday, right, yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:18:42):
This Saturday.

Speaker 12 (01:18:43):
Well, I'm sorry, today is Thursday. My day is a
running together Saturday, Yes, December.

Speaker 1 (01:18:49):
Sixth Okay, and what time?

Speaker 12 (01:18:53):
It's from ten am to two pm.

Speaker 4 (01:18:56):
And it's going to take place over at the UC
Health Business Center. That's a right there, ninety two hundred
Burnit Avenue, right where the old Jewish hospital used to be,
right in the front there.

Speaker 1 (01:19:06):
Yes, yes, you're right, all right, And there's no cost.

Speaker 12 (01:19:11):
No cost. Registration is required, so if you go over
to the cooponehealthcat dot org slash caregivers and register, we
can register you there as well. But yeah, we can
definitely accommodate that for the event is free, all right.

Speaker 1 (01:19:27):
And you're gonna have turkeys to give away this time, yes, yes,
and we.

Speaker 12 (01:19:32):
Are looking for more turkeys, but we're also looking for
Hamilton County residents that are caring for a loved one
sixty and older.

Speaker 4 (01:19:38):
Yes, yes, yes, all right, This coming Saturday ten to
two at the UC Health Business Center right there, thirty
two hundred Burnit Avenue. And those caregivers, yeah, they you know,
people think, oh, yes, she's caring for this person, she's
caring for that, or he's caring for but that's a
tough job.

Speaker 12 (01:19:57):
Yeah, they don't really know what all goes into it.
Hearing and providing transporting. It is a lot to deal
with and oftentimes you get left behind too, So we
want to make sure that we fill your cup up
as we as you're caring for someone else.

Speaker 4 (01:20:13):
All right, sounds good to me. Once again, this coming
Saturday ten to two. You see Health Business Center thirty
two hundred Burning Avenue, and it's free to get in
and you get a lot of information for caregivers and
a lot of resources and.

Speaker 1 (01:20:29):
Things like that.

Speaker 12 (01:20:31):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (01:20:32):
Yep, all right, well, thank you for talking with us.

Speaker 12 (01:20:35):
Thank you have a good one.

Speaker 4 (01:20:36):
All right, Felicia, that's Felicia Beckham and from closing the
health gap and the caregivers. Man, it's a tough job
being a caregiver. So you folks make sure you show
up over there. They might have some free turkeys for
you and everything like that.

Speaker 1 (01:20:53):
I got to feel them with STAFFA is going to
be becoming a caregiver. Oh so you can show up
and get a free k He just might, he just might.
You never know. Hey, Margie, how are you okay?

Speaker 6 (01:21:01):
How are you doing, Margie?

Speaker 13 (01:21:03):
I'm doing okay, that's good. I just want to say
I think it's a darn shame the way people are
going up on people's rent. You know, if you give
him a certain amount to start off, and then you're
gonna go up like three or four hundred dollars. Yeah,
I think that's ridiculous.

Speaker 7 (01:21:19):
Yes, I think.

Speaker 13 (01:21:20):
People are just so greedy. And I want to know
why a rent control cannot be put on.

Speaker 4 (01:21:28):
Well, I mean they talk about stuff like that in
New York because rents are just out of control in
New York. I don't know if they ever got it
passed and that, but they were trying to do something
like that up there, and you're right, there could be.

Speaker 13 (01:21:41):
Yeah, I would someone would check into you know, what
does it take to have a rent?

Speaker 4 (01:21:47):
Because well, when they stop going up on property taxes
and things like that, maybe that can happen. But they
keep going up on property taxes and the landlord has
to get that money from somewhere, and so he's gonna
get it from the renters.

Speaker 13 (01:21:58):
Yeah, I know. But having to be told that your
rent is going up crazy amount, yeah, you want to
try to find somewhere to move, you know, it's terrible.
I know two years ago I had to move because
the landlord gave us thirty days. He was saying he
was selling it, and we had thirty days to find

(01:22:18):
the place, and I mean that was really stressful.

Speaker 2 (01:22:22):
Yeah, so I.

Speaker 13 (01:22:23):
Feel for everybody out there, all right, Okay, thank you, hey, Margie, thanks.

Speaker 1 (01:22:28):
For your call. Let's take a break for news and
then we'll come back.

Speaker 4 (01:22:30):
