Methane is the second-largest contributor to global warming after carbon dioxide (CO2). According to the International Energy Agency, it is responsible for around 30 percent of the rise in global temperatures since the Industrial Revolution. While methane absorbs more energy than CO2 in the atmosphere, it has a much shorter atmospheric lifespan – around 12 years. The good news is that tackling methane emissions can make a significant difference to addressing climate change.

But how to reduce emissions from this colorless, odorless gas that’s often hard to detect? And how can technology help?

To find answers to these questions, The Process Automation Podcast host Fran Scott is joined by:

- David T. Allen, the Gertz Regents Professor of Chemical Engineering and the Director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Resources at the University of Texas at Austin

- Jacques Mulbert, President of ABB Measurement & Analytics

- Stephane Germain, President and CEO of GHGSat
