The Rebound Podcast with Coach Matt Doherty

The Rebound Podcast with Coach Matt Doherty

Matt was a starter on the 1982 National Championship UNC Tar Heels basketball team, and brought the ball up the court for Michael Jordan, James Worthy, and Sam Perkins. Matt was drafted by Cleveland, and three days later his contract was voided. He never played in the NBA. Matt spent time on Wall Street, then became head coach for Notre Dame for one season, and then went to his alma mater, UNC, where he was named the National Coach of the Year in his first season. Within two years, he was forced to resign. Matt is now a Leadership and Executive Coach and a businessman. Matt recently released his book, Rebound: From Pain to Passion, Leadership Lessons Learned, which is now a best seller and in its second printing. As a companion to the book, Matt is producing The Rebound Podcast, with guests including Olympic Gold Medalist Dan Jansen, former NC Governor and WBT Host Pat McCrory, NFL Quarterback Ryan Leaf, and many others.

Every basketball player who’s stepped on the court in an open gym or the hot unforgiving blacktop knows how important it is to win games and hold court. If your team won, you’d get to stay on the court and challenge the next group. And the feeling of losing sat deep in your stomach until it was your ...
