have a co host who's very knowledgeable, knows everything about
tennis through this for the confidence, isn't he? And across
the desk two of the biggest names in Australian tennis.

No, it was really good.

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Yeah, went down to Hobart after going to Japan, which
is really cool and unfortunately not playing this year's AO,
So going to be joining the content team and doing
some socials which is very exciting with Dash, which is
going to.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Be very be the Dream Team. This is great. Yeah,
this is really lucky to be working with them so much.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
It's going to be very exciting if we're going to
blow it out of the water in the content team,
definitely fun.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Dash, What have you been up to?

Speaker 6 (01:24):
I actually have been inspired by Yolana to start like
selling my stuff Jolana.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Ostapenko okay Instagram account. Yeah, so I'm not creating an
Instagram account. So she's she's doing an online garage stut.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
She's got an Instagram page. It's official, like it's it's
in her bio. And she's been selling some of her stuff.
And she sold her Dyson during the vacuum cleaner, the
vacuum cleaner during Wimby just after no w Tar finals.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Ye, so that was good.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
I was thinking about buying her many perfumes, her used perfume.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Little little storage boxes for five euros. It's great, like
we love he's going to waste.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I can get cash.

Speaker 6 (02:21):
For sailing stuff for good byas and that's handy. It's
not going to be taxed, well is it.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
It wasn't until you said that.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
Well, hopefully you don't sell the dresses I'm about to
give you.

Speaker 6 (02:35):
Oh yeah, I'm also I can't afford to buy a
dress for a waiting I'm going to so Jamie is gonna.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Give me her dress.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
A couple options.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
I mean it's stretchy.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
I hope it's got an empire waste. Well, thank you
both for coming along Ostar Pinco. We'll be checking that
out later.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
You know what you should do if she should like
do the Easter hunt thing and like yeah, and then
the lucky like she can announce the lucky winners.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
I'm just picturing like the AO cleaning crews going who
has left all this rubbish everywhere and it's just bottles
and weird little carry case.

Speaker 5 (03:18):
But I'm pretty sure also, if you in strictart, you
win the pool. I feel like you should know.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
I actually pleased to. Could she give it to her mum?
Someone gave it to that. Now there's a few Porsches
that came to visit her, and.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
There's a few dashes selling old toothbrush.

Speaker 6 (03:38):
I do actually donate my clothes, like, yes, waste, nothing
goes to waste at my house.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
That's good. Nothing. So you're a great person. I think.

Speaker 6 (03:52):
I think I'm a decent person. Okay, well what you've
been up to save.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Well, not a lot.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
But I did realize when I got the shirt I
was wearing it was very like small checks, which I
wasn't thinking when I got dressed. When I was in
front of the camera, I realized, oh, it looks like
I was being extrocuted. So I had to go back
to my office and find what I could, and I
found my old shirt I got from Fiji, so highlighted
my day.

Speaker 6 (04:16):
Well whenever you thought it's like funny, a funny shirt,
but we never thought that.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah, you as looked to me like, yeah, that that
checks out. That's something he'd wear just on a normal Thursday. Yeah,
it's just a lot about me.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Anyway.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
I want to try something new this week, which is
not just talking complete crap at the top, which we've
just done I think quite successfully, a little something.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
I like to call.

Speaker 7 (04:37):
The question.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Well down to the production team two minutes to create
that sting.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Is that AI or like John before his coffee.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
So each week leading up to the AO, we're going
to be asking one big question of the panel. Each
panelist we'll have thirty seconds with our shot clock to
give their answer and make their case why. This week,
our big question is who is third in line along
with Alcoraz and Sinner to form the new big three.
So for a long time it was Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
They were the big dogs.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
So with these two, I want to see who is
who's most likely, who's most likely to kind of see
one coming in? Yeah, yeah, Like who's likely to emerge
as the kind of heir apparent?

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah? Hit me.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
You wanted me to start, I want you to tell
me a big question. So I ah nervous on the clock.
So we When I think about this question, I'm thinking
about the younger ones to come up through And the
two names that came out to me were Joel Fonseka
and yak of Menshic. And I went with Menshic because
he had an amazing start to the year Master one
thousand champion in Miami, and I've just written down some

(05:44):
of the people he's beaten this year, which I don't
think many others have, and I'm.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Almost run out of time.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Shelton twice world number four, Fritz world number five, Jokovic
world number six, Straighter world number seven, root.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Out of time.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
I was going to say keep second half of the
year didn't have the results he probably would have liked,
sort of faded away a little bit in slams.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
He faded away a little bit.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
If he has a big preseason, gets some conditioning, gets
used to five set tennis, gets used to the long
a top season, I think he's the next one to
take that jump and the most likely to be number three.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Perfect Well argued, I'm intrigued just over time. Yeapt a bit.

Speaker 6 (06:21):
I didn't really realize that he won Miami. Yeah, but
it was so long ago that I think.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Exactly all these wins that I said were at the
front half of the year. So he definitely didn't have
big wins towards the end. And it slams. Yeah, third
round was his best finish. So I think he'll pick
up some points if you can make some quarters and
fourth rounds next year. But obviously a lot of points
that defend in Miami.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
But does that, but then would you just say he's more.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Of a hardcore player potentially. I think he's got a
good game for grass, but he's got a big game.
We'll see, all right, Dash, what about you? Who's your third?

Speaker 2 (06:52):
I'm gonna go with Draper.

Speaker 6 (06:53):
He did when in den Wells and he has had
distant results at Slams as well, Big surf lefty, pretty
solid of the baseline. He's got the weapons to join
the to join Alcoriz and Singer.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
I think, and is this decision being color about fact
that you think he's very attractive.

Speaker 6 (07:16):
He is good looking, but I don't think that helps
his tennis.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Okay, would it? I don't know. I mean you would
feel more confident about this.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
It's just around it, yes, okay, it's very marketable, very yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Okay, a full season on the court, like I think
he's yeah yeah.

Speaker 6 (07:37):
And that body right, get his body right, yeah, because
I think he had to pull out of Yours Open.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
He's got to get that body right so you have
some deeper runs in Slams and he could really jump
up the rankings because he's already.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Just so the very outside of the top ten. He's
number ten.

Speaker 6 (07:53):
It's like to me, top hundred, you've got to hit
double digits, so you're not technically top hundred if you're
but you're the hundredth, but I was. It's like with me,
I was, I count top twenty myself, but I was
twentyeth But.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
It's double digits about you, Jammy.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
I'm gonna go short and sweet. I just don't think
there's anyone that will be in that third spot next year.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Enough. Yeah, So is the era of the Big Three over?

Speaker 5 (08:22):
I don't think it's over. I just think the top
two Cinner and Outcros are too good in terms of
everyone will have someone will have a breakout year and
kind of be in contention, but to be able to
hold the level throughout the whole year like Cinner and Outcras,
I don't think there's anyone that's going to be the third.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
So do you think we're going to see all the
Slams next year be Ciner and Outcras again?

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Probably yeaheah, I don't think.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
I mean for the fans, they'll be right with.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
That, but I go to be boring. Well as a fan.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Season is was a lot more exciting this year because
it was a lot more superstars. Yeah, whereas some events
on the HP side, if Cinner and Outcries play. It
was like, oh, these guys that like it's a chance
for someone new, but also at the same time an
there it feels like it's a little bit less. So yeah,
it's a very valid point. They're so far ahead in

(09:12):
the points too, like over doubles, very of it three.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
So yeah, it's a big gap.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
That's so good question, well, asked Race. So I've been thinking,
and I'm going to go back to America. It's Ben
Shelton for me. Like he's got youth skill, he's fit,
he's ready to go, and he has had what I
think is a pretty stellar year at the Grand Slam level.
So looking at the Australian Open this year, made the

(09:39):
semi finals. He also made the semi finals at the
US Open. He made the quarters at Wimbledon and fourth
round at the French So all in all, looking at those,
I think he's going to be a real contender to
be at the pointy end of a lot of tournaments.
And he's just a really fun guy. He's got that
big smile. Everyone loves him.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
He's friendly. He's obviously been inspired by your hair, so
in the dream and I think he's got to believe too. Yeah, yeah,
you've got to have that face. Has he got to
have that? I think.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
He has. They're on a similar trajectory, aren't they. Ben's
probably a little bit younger, more time on court.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Yeah, he's more time on court. His body is in
a probably better position at the moment. But time will tell.
Twenty six is going to be a pretty good year,
I think. So let us know what's your answer to
the big question, who would you pick as your third
for the current Big three?

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Or is there no one? Jamie said, like Jamie, Yeah,
I actually like it. It's pretty good. Again, we'll argued,
all right, so we'll see.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
In fact, if that fires up, we might a big
question next week, but if no one cares about it,
we might drop it. So let's get into our second
favorite segment, because mine's at the end of days of
the week.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
But right now, what has caught your eye? Reese? What's
caught your eye this week? So I I kept a
little bit of.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
An eye on the Davis Cup Final eight which finished up,
So now I sort of we're at the end of
the professional season now for that tour level.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Sort of stuff.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
And Davis Cup finished up with the final eight in Bologna,
which Italy got over the line without the top ten
players in the top ten of Yanksinner and Learns Mazzetti,
Mato Berretini and Flavioco Boli though that was a great
little duo that they had throughout the week. I don't
know if you saw girls that video of Berrettini when

(11:21):
he's a bit younger.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
And we need that culture here, what people carrying stuff? No,
like youngsters being amongst like the older players. That kind
of well even I know it's.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
There's both young there like fifteen and eleven or whatever.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
I don't know what's there.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
They were both they were both young at the time.
But yeah, yeah, no, it would be so cool to
see that down the track. I think, Yeah, Luke's is
doing as well with the with the young players in Australia,
like there's going to be that leak.

Speaker 6 (11:55):
Someone to look up too late. Yeah and almost yeah,
like I'm sure two Flavio my Dale was like, wow,
I want to be there in a few years, Like
I don't know if he was the number one like
in Italy, but yeah, around.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
But it's it's not even like a real mentor ship.
It's that classic thing of if you don't if you
don't see it, you can't be it, So you need
to be around it and be exposed to those things.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
And I think that's what we had when I was
younger looking up to a new storms train.

Speaker 6 (12:28):
Together and we actually, yeah, we actually did train together.
Even though I was like, I don't want Jamie, She's like, all.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
This is what this is why we haven't put you
two together on the pod before?

Speaker 2 (12:43):
When Jamie was orange girl? No, no, it was a.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
Yeah, Ash Casey.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
I don't think I was still eligible before. Do you
have your knee or I had my a seal?

Speaker 2 (12:59):
So which but that's a similar.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Thing, the orange girl orange boy thing that we have
in our nationals.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
So he's like a fleet of orange children.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Yeah, pretty much.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Yeah, where are they now?

Speaker 1 (13:10):
But the interesting thing that I was looking at here
is around first Davis Cup three peats, so three in
a row? Yeah really since the Americans did it they
got five in a row back in the sixties and seventies.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
Italian tennis is just dominating and they've gone back to
back in the BJK Cup as well. Yeah, ask you too,
what do you think Italy does well? And what do
you like about Italian towns When you go to Italy.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Such culture, like the club culture.

Speaker 6 (13:36):
I feel like there's like even playing small tournaments like
junior tournaments. The the parents, like the kids there belong
to it like a tennis club and they're there all
day every day, hitting tennis balls around the tennis. They
watch it, where we don't have that in Australia, Like

(14:01):
it's very much like it's like it's it's just tennis.
You come to the tennis, you do your session, and
you go home.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
So it's similar to how Australians have, like not everyone,
but they have like a local football and netble g Yeah,
and that's why a lot of kids just kind of
gravitate to that. So in Italy it's more tennis clubs
as the same spend so much more time there.

Speaker 5 (14:21):
Yeah, I feel like that's in Europe as a whole,
they do that so much better. But I think it
goes back to like growing up, like I had you
to look up to, and I feel like they do
that quite well now, Like with all their academies, all
the girls that are younger that were my age or
like our old fitness coach then moved over to Italy
and he coached all these girls like I saw them
when I was playing twenty five to fifteens in Italy

(14:43):
and now they're most of them are top hundreds, so
I don't know. They have a good pathway system as well.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
And the other thing out Italy that I saw recently
is the tournament direct Effort was at the Rome Open. Yeah,
like fantasy, we should be the fifth Slam, Like I mean,
Italians keep being this good, maybe they will be controversial.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
It's always one of there's never going to be there's
always defeat. The purpose of Grand Slam is four. But
Rome is such a special event, so like it is
their event. But they also have Alnya now for the
Davis Cup and the HP Finals now and a lot
of a lot of events, and as.

Speaker 6 (15:24):
So many junior tournaments, so many, so many.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
It t s like.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
There's so many.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
And the weather helps.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Yeah, another good European weather country that has a great
tennis cultury Spain. They made the final without Carlos so
we can't even we don't know al Karaz and Sinner
in this event and they still make the bloody final
these countries, and without Davinovich for Keina as well, so
that's their top two highest ranked players. But yeah, Aritini Koboli.

(15:55):
They were excellent. They love playing for their country. They're
so good. There was like this little brother, big other
situation going on and Bertini eleven straight Davis Cup wins
when you beat Karno buster in the final, so they
didn't even need to take it to the doubles. Flavio
in the semi film, did anyone see that tiebreak against.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Seventeen fifteen? Did you see.

Speaker 8 (16:18):
That?

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Really touched me?

Speaker 6 (16:20):
Zizu's dad twittered like he wrote like a letter to
his son on Twitter and it was actually like really cool.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
He was just yeah, yeah, loves his shout out to Belgium.
They had a great run obviously beating us here in
Australia in Sydney earlier this year and.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Then through to the semifinals.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
Raphael Collin and Ziziberg's really punched above their weight and
almost almost knocked off the Italians in the end. So
there was a great run from them. So it's cool
to see these other nations come through and progress. It's
the beauty of the Davis Cup.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
So looking ahead to next year, let's say Italy continues
their dominance, but what countries might sort of be able
to one up them.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Who's going to to be.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Nipping at Italian heels in the Davis Cup ranks next year.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Australia.

Speaker 3 (17:04):
Yeah, I think we're all, say Australia, but where the
third ranked team we've got, Ecuador actually is.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
It's going to be a tough playing Ecuador.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
It's over there, right altitude probably like the slowest clay
up to.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
The very thin air, high altitude.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
How high do anyone know?

Speaker 6 (17:25):
They probably make it as high as possible. They'll put
it on the top of Yeah, we're probably going to
make it like impossible to get to probably.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Yeah, you don't have a just to make it. They'll
put it out in the Galapicus Island. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 6 (17:39):
Like we've got fanatics like I do you think I travel?
I mean, there's no point. Like the South Americans.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
They would be nuts for it, won't they. In American
crowds are super passionate, love.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
To turn out for some sports.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Australia obviously going favorites there, but then Norway, Great Britains
and interesting tie. You've got caspar Ut up against Jack
Jpa and that's who Australia plays in the next round,
so that'll be interesting. But Italy back in Bologna next
year will have to go in red hot favorites. All
they need is one of Muzzetti and Sinner and they
improve their team on ranking.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
So I tell you what, Davis Cup Tennis, I think
we're at a pretty high.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Level these days. So next year is going to be
exciting stuff.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Yeah, February is when the next tires kick off, right
after the AO.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Absolutely from AO. Then feb six, bang next Davis Cup.
All right, let's crack on dash. What caught your eye
this week?

Speaker 6 (18:35):
Actually, Holger ruins Achilles injury and his rehab journey.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
He's being very open about it, like he's putting a
lot of it on social is.

Speaker 6 (18:46):
Yeah, definitely sharing his journey. And I was a bit like, WHOA,
Like you can relax a little bit. Yeah, go, you've
been injured before. Still and the he's gonna get a
bit a bit of a burnout burnout.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Yeah if he keeps going.

Speaker 6 (19:09):
But I do think he's literally like he's Bill different.

Speaker 9 (19:14):
It'll take ninety twelve months for Holga to be back
on tour competing. And before you come at me with
who are you blah blah blah, I'm a professional tennis
player who came back from three major injuries, two acls
and an achilles surgery. I was a number one junior
and at the age of eighteen, I raptured my ACL

(19:34):
and then I got to top twenty in the world,
which was my best ranking.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
A few years later.

Speaker 10 (19:39):
A few years later, I had achilles injury and I
decided to get the surgery. I was out for ten
or eleven months, and then once I got back on tour,
within eight months.

Speaker 6 (19:54):
I got back inside top fifty in the world. I
then raptured my ACL. I didn't even finish the whole
season and I eruptured my ACL. So I know a
thing or two about long term injuries and how it feels.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
Brutal. Shots there.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Yeah, but like really interesting take dash, so talk us
through expand on what you just opened up to on
the TikTok.

Speaker 6 (20:18):
So basically, I'm just worried about, yeah, the burnout, because
you will.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
It will feel like, Okay, I'm ready.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
And I've talked to some of my friends that saw
the video and they said that's exactly how I felt.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
I just really.

Speaker 6 (20:33):
Wanted to I was so motivated after the surgery and
I was in the gym, but after a week, I
was like, oh, what am I Like, I've got to
do this for nine months. I do think he's like
he's got this mindset and he's like built different and
he he looks at it like I'm gonna there's like

(20:56):
you can get better every day, every every second, and
but you almost, yeah, you have to find something outside
of tennis to fulfill your days.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
Does not soccer from anything very changing.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Yeah, speaking on experience with your achilles, take us back
to that time and how you experienced maybe a little.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
Bit of burnout.

Speaker 6 (21:21):
Yeah, slightly different injuries and for some reason, like when
I compare, because my achilles was a long injury and
we had to I had to make the decision to
have the surgery.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
I didn't rupture my achilles.

Speaker 6 (21:38):
I probably was going to rupture with the state of
my achilles, but it was like a long term injury
that was very negly and I had to take time
off and it wasn't getting better. So I always said that,
like those injuries are almost worse. And it's funny, like

(21:59):
when I was comparing my achilles to my a CL,
was like a cl is so much easier because it's
like it's pretty straightforward, you know what you're doing, you know,
like and in Australia, like we have the highest rate
of acls For some reason, I read that somewhere and
it's yeah, you you have your plan. Where with my

(22:22):
injury with the Achilles, I felt like I wasn't sure
if it was you ever get better. Like I had
the motivation all the time that I want to come
back and.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
That I had the belief that I will be back.

Speaker 6 (22:40):
Playing and competing, But there was definitely days where I
felt like, it's like I'm still sore, what is happening,
I'm far behind, and like comparing myself.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
There that you'd be making it worse or that it
could not really because I mean.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
Can't get that video. I'm like, how is that not
making it worse?

Speaker 6 (22:58):
How are you not putting so much dress like where
he was jumping and stuff.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Well, it's like I fell off.

Speaker 6 (23:05):
My bike, my little scooter with with my after I've
had the Achilles surgery. Like I was just out for
a walk and I didn't see a rock or whatever,
and I just felt and your instinct is to put
your like injured food down. I was pretty sore, but
I didn't like rerupture it because it was actually at

(23:27):
the stage where it was pretty like it had healed.
And then with all these injuries, you also there's like.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
A risk where you.

Speaker 6 (23:39):
Like it gets worse or like it weakens somehow, Like
I mean, I'm not a doctor, but you basically, yeah,
you have to be careful if and even looking at this,
it's probably him like it's fine, I'll be fine, and
he controls that like he thinks he's in control. But
I remember like talking to Craig ties I actually when

(24:00):
I did my A c L he was doing a
bit of fitting with me and he's like, hey, like
you need to sit on that box, like like sit
your butt down.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
You're not We're not risking that sense of security want it.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
And same with Pridy she was like, nah, like sit
down and I don't even think with my achilles, I
hit until I was out of my out of my
butt that like it was pretty much like.

Speaker 4 (24:29):
It was healed, when it was safe to actually be out.

Speaker 6 (24:32):
Of yeah, And I was like I was and I
was still not putting your full Yeah, I was still
like using.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
It start to compensate, like he's in a moon boot, like.

Speaker 6 (24:42):
He's still ages ago ages away from.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
And you don't forget how to hit tennis balls.

Speaker 6 (24:51):
You can and people say like your shoulder, like you
need to do it for your shoulder, but you can
do some stuff and and you can just throw the
ball like.

Speaker 5 (25:02):
He's still nine to twelve months. It's a long time
to be and I think he's had a long term
injury before.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
So he's very eager to come back, isn't he. Yeh?
And like you said, he's built different.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
If anyone's going to do it, we wish him the best,
absolutely to need him back. Those concerns are worth flagging
for sure.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
From the heaviness of an injury to something a little
light and fluffy, and I think Brie would approve of this.
We're looking to pop culture, so Drake the absolute like
he's a brand name.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Unto himself.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
He's Drake, hip hop, megasta, all those things actually went
out with Serena Williams for a time. Here he is
in a photo for those who are under listening and
not watching with Sexy Red fellow rapper, and it's very
tennis themed and word on the street is he's looking
for a wild card to something.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Big, So I think we should definitely get him in there,
but he's half his shirt. That would be so good
for there's a lot of players have actually kind of tennis, sorry.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
A lot of he's not going to be the player
he's going to be there. Well, maybe he will be,
you know, amateur.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Well he would be in the one point that he
would be an amateur because he doesn't have a ranking.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
He's not expecting a wildcode into Also, does.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Drake need to wear a million bucks? No, it's better
on it like he does with everything else.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
He loves to put upon it.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
By the way, Okay, but it got me thinking, So
it's not just Drake. There's been other big name celebrities
who not only are tennis fans, but also Red Food
actually played an ATP event.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
Is an extra playing.

Speaker 6 (26:31):
What about the billionaire that played Jack Sock and.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
He played with Jack Sock, he played against Omar.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
Yeah, and they.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
Weren't even like playing like red ball tennis to him
and he out and he was saying, oh, I just
wasn't used to it.

Speaker 6 (26:50):
He truly thought that he was.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
He was insane the way he was doubling down that
he deserved to be there.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
But then you look through other select so actually the
kid Larroy, who will be performing at AO twenty twenty
six at AO Live. He was actually a competitive junior
player in Australia. Then Lars Ulrich who from Metallica. He's
obviously a bit older now, but before he became a
member of Metallica, he moved from Denmark to California to
pursue his tennis career. Ben Stiller was a strology with

(27:21):
Ben still very cool tennis, the late Matthew Perry from Friends.
He was a nationally ranked Canadian junior. It's just yeah,
I think there's a real crosshop between celebrity so dash.
My point is this, I have you could do it
in reverse boom, you could be either.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
The movie. Yeah, you could be like slow so we
could do that in Knobs and little Leavers here on,
I can fix everything absolutely So yeah, well that was
my who's the most famous person you've here? With Serena Williams?
That's pretty good. Can you can't say Serena or Venus?

Speaker 6 (28:02):
Oh you can't say Okay, you can't say tennisers, tennis
players I have.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
I don't think I've ever hit with the celebrity.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
Okay, Prime Minister, you went true me too, which ones current.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
Good okay, A you got you.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
You can't remember?

Speaker 4 (28:24):
Did you go to the lodge?

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Yeah? The lodge did?

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Did Scott Morrison serve is raw chicken curry that he's
famous for?

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Does that bullet half you luck?

Speaker 6 (28:36):
All right?

Speaker 2 (28:36):
Well that's what caught my.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
Eye and a little insight into these two and their
famous political partners.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Jamie, finish this off.

Speaker 5 (28:44):
Okay, So I'm going to go with the Australian Pro
to a wild card points race.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
It heats up currently.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Has a lot of information. There is a lot makes
me understand, explain like I'm five years old.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
So there's currently three tournaments. One is being played at
the moment to have already been played, and for every
match that you win, you get a point towards the
wild card for the Australian Open.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
Okay, so this is based off ranking points.

Speaker 11 (29:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
We used to do like the wild card playoffs Jamie
won multiple times.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
So this is basically taking that concept of spreading it
across the entire pro tour.

Speaker 5 (29:21):
Yes, great, Yeah, I'll just go through who is on
top and who is currently in contention. So for the
women's we have Tylie Gibson on seventy five points. We
have Emerson Jones on sixty nine points, Taylor Preston on
twenty nine and Kim Berrell on twenty nine as well
as Storm Hunts on twenty nine.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Kim will be in the Major anyway. Kim is in.

Speaker 5 (29:41):
Major, but she's not currently playing Playford, so she's out
of the race. So her end of year ranking I
think will be around ninety.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Four it Talier won the New South Wales Open last week,
the biggest title of her career, which is exciting and
puts her on top of the race with Emerson behind
the Emerson so.

Speaker 6 (29:59):
Storm and actually Talia missed the tournament BJK Cup bi
JK Cup, so it's quite exciting and I think it's
also quite important to have these types of tournaments.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
I love the wild card playoff and I'm sure you
did too. I did winning a couple. It just allows
everyone to compete and it kind of takes the selection
from the selectors away, like there's no yeah, you own
your spot and to be able to perform for these
three weeks it's incredibly important.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
So one of my favorite things is that it actually
shows right now you can come watch some wicked tennis.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Fans rock up to a challenger. Last week for the
doubles Cruise. I was in Adelaide.

Speaker 6 (30:43):
There was a few There was a pretty good crowd,
tight between Alex Bold and James Darkword.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Yeah, they're tired at the moment, both in contention for
that wild card spot multi winning that first event and
then duck you win the second.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
And I think we kind of did research before so
duxa's current live ranking is eighty four, but the cut
for is earlier to the women, which is really weird,
which I'm.

Speaker 6 (31:10):
Not sure it's because the A twop wanted to give
players a pre players like a preseason and basically, yeah,
if you cut it, if you have a heart stop, Okay,
this is where the deadline for us straight up and
then hopefully players are not gonna play.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
But I I don't think that's fair. I think there's
so many other players that I get the NBA.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
Will probably do that in the following years as well.
Is interesting to see two different cuts.

Speaker 6 (31:45):
I was on the council with that, but we left
it too late and some players were supportive of that.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Some players weren't.

Speaker 4 (31:55):
Supportive of it.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
I do like I under stand both side. I do
think it's nice to like have a break and you're like, Okay,
I'm done with this season.

Speaker 5 (32:09):
But there's so many other players to play in the season.
You don't have just top hundred players. Well that's the
top ten players and that's why.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
Yeah, And it's just my understanding of it is to
stop players, to give them an actual Like if you've
made the top hundred by this point, it's like, nice,
I can have a preseason. I don't have to chase
points to get myself in through challenges around the world
and things like that.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
So, I mean that's the thing. It's tough, Like it's
tough to make a decision when the.

Speaker 6 (32:37):
Players are obviously complaining about the season being too long
as well.

Speaker 5 (32:42):
But but I feel like you only see the top
like the top hundred players because they're in the top hundred,
Like you don't think about everyone else that is also playing.
Like these players probably didn't complain when they're outside top hundred,
but now that they're top hundred, it's like, oh, I'm
top hundred to like rules to benefit me, Yeah, I
don't know.

Speaker 6 (33:01):
It doesn't benefit anyone. It's the same rule forever.

Speaker 5 (33:05):
Yeah, But I'm saying it's just those top players that
because they want to put it because they've already got
what they need. So it's kind of like, let's be
mean to everyone else and make them stop playing too,
which I don't think is fair because at the end
of the day, everyone was a lower ranked player coming
up to play. They had to play a certain amount
of tournaments or a lot of tournaments.

Speaker 6 (33:25):
To look at like the data, how many players it
effects and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Fight Fight.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
It's interesting. It's an interesting discussion.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
Like for Duckworth, who, like you said, he's in there.
He's like pushing eighty in the world. If he wins
this week, he could be in like the seventies and
technically he's not in the cutoff.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
No, so he'll be top ranked qualifer.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
Yeah, which is which is interesting in itself.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
But yeah, I do like the fact that players are
getting season it just that going, Yeah, that's why he's
playing him.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
That's great for the tournaments.

Speaker 6 (33:57):
Bring back the World Cup playoff, No, Like I prefer
that really because it goes towards your ranking, and like
the wild card playoff again, like if there was different
cuts like atp then you're kind of like just are

(34:18):
you training for that wild card playoff like when and
it's hard to I think it's hard to find a
place to even holst it now.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
So I do like that.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
I think tennis to get players in in Australia, you
can't really see top players play, so it's good for
those cities Brisbane, Sydney play for now you can go see.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
One tournament like the playoff, have.

Speaker 5 (34:48):
Both, Like I love this, I actually really do. But
I think the wild card playoff was quite special because
you got to play here, you practice here.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
We don't get it.

Speaker 5 (34:58):
Yeah, we don't get the chance to hit on that
side until pretty much everyone comes.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
I seeing both too much.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Okay again, I will reiterate fight but on one of
the better best things is whether it's playoffs or this process.
You know, having the opportunity for an Australian player who
didn't make the cart to get a wild card to
play here, it could absolutely propel their career for that year,
that season going forward. Like was your year different when

(35:28):
you were a wild card in an event? How different
was it to a year where you didn't make the cut,
you didn't get the wild card even financially?

Speaker 6 (35:35):
Like yeah, probably, like you're you think, okay, well, I'm
going to bring the team over. I'll have I'll have
a college fitness trainer and stuff like that. Especially I
remember when you won the playoff like you then, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (35:51):
I had a fitness coach for season, had my coach
for pre season. Yeah, it just changed.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
You've got a wildcard this early out, You've got a
lot of time to prepare.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
That's crucial. It's cool.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
And another country that's done a similar thing for their
wildcard of the AO is the Usta and they've already
done their race and Patrick Kipson locked it up for
the men's singles and he joined Viv and Matt on
the sit down this week, so let's have a little
look at that.

Speaker 12 (36:16):
Yeah, we have a huge opportunity as Americans to earn
that reciprocal wildcard. So it's you know, anytime you can
you can gain direct access and to main draw a
Grand Slam. It's a huge help to not have to
go through qualifying. And I feel like for this particular challenge,
and I think I well earned it with two titles

(36:36):
during the challenge windows. So like I said, I'm happy
with the result of it and the way that I
was able to earn it with my play.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Well, very good. Another great episode of the sit Down
with Matt and Viv. Interestingly, it was coached by Tommy
Paul stepfather and to hear more jump there'll be links
in description all those things. We're going to have a
quick break here. More of the tennis coming up, including
some player news on Adelaide's National and vix Vox pops
stick around back in a second.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
Welcome back to the tennis.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Now we've got some breaking news, pretty exciting announcements for
the Adelaide International, the last of the lead in events
going into the Aussie Open. So we've already know that
your boyfriend Jack Draper, jiaffon Seca, Madison Keys and Belinda
ben Chicc are all playing in Adelaide, but some big names
announced Alexi Popron, Ossie, Jess Pagoula, Paula Bodosa, Clara Tawson,

(37:28):
Tommy Paul are all heading over to the City of
Churches play the Adelaide International.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
That's pretty cool, great field for Adelaide, one of the
bigger events before we have the Australian Open in the
week leading up. Absolutely speaking of the AO, Yes producer
Vic Rudnikov recently caught up with some VIPs and influencers
at the AO launch.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Let's see what they have to say.

Speaker 7 (37:49):
I'm at the launch for AO twenty six, meaning we're
getting very close to seeing all our favorite stars in
action in Melbourne. Come with me as I chat to
some of our guests and presenters about what I hope
to see on court this January.

Speaker 8 (38:02):
I would love to see an ol Choraz Siner final
at the Australian Open, finish the quartet of finals that
they've had. But at the same time, you know, I
want to see them pushed. I want to see some
real drama and for that to happen, you know, you
got this other generation that need to step up and
see whether they can do it. Taylor Frits been playing

(38:23):
great tennis and the player that I'm looking forward to
all the Australians really focusing on it this Australian Open
is j fonseca young Brazilian who's burst out onto the scene.
Played great at his first Australian Open, but now we
know what we can expect.

Speaker 11 (38:38):
But there's so many other amazing players as well. In storylines,
No make Djokovic getting too four Grand Slam semifinals this year.
So he's really been kind of the third player behind
Cinra and Alcrez is a ten time champion, so it
will be amazing to see him back and the women
as well. I feel like it's really open, but you've
got your contenders and really the favorite Sublenka. Will she
win her third Australian Open. Will she break through? She's

(39:01):
never been in a final year but does have now
the game to play really well on hard courts as
well kolkok Gov.

Speaker 13 (39:08):
I want to see some of the young'in's come through.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
I have a soft spot for huelf on Seca.

Speaker 13 (39:15):
I love Jack Draper and even seeing some of the Aussies,
like especially on the women's sde Priscilla.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Hon and seeing my joint.

Speaker 13 (39:23):
They've been really having incredible seasons this year and I
would love to see that progress into a two six.

Speaker 7 (39:30):
I just want to see some really good tennis and
I love when there's a bit of dance and a
bit of fun on the court, so I'd love to
see that too.

Speaker 14 (39:37):
My six year old is obsessed with Saberlenka, and I
imagine a lot of OSSI's are now. She just wants
to see Sablenka lift that Trophy at the finals. But
I'm looking forward to seeing some of the young guns
come through as well, and hopefully we'll get to see
Carlos and Yannik in the men's final too.

Speaker 15 (39:55):
The Sinner al Chiz final, of course, that'll be incredible
for for everybody and the tournament. But if we can
sneak in an Aussie player to play one of those
legends for that final, that'll look pretty special. Of course,
we want to see a Aussie go deep. That's one
thing I'd love, Alex. You know, pop room, We've got
a few players, a couple of players hopefully can get

(40:17):
in that second week and the most important thing is
just to get your foot in the door in the
second week and then take things as they come. And
they have the game, they have the physicality and mentality
to do that and hopefully, you know, have a long
run and push deep and you know the crowd will
be behind them, mature them through and let's see anything
can happen.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
We well, thank you very much, Vic, great work.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Keep sending us back the tapes from the field. All right,
we're getting to the very very pointy end of the show.
I know, dash, you have to dash.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
Let's have a look at my favorite bit of the week,
Ace of the Week.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
This is where we ask the paddel, including myself, to
run through something from the week that's happened or the
week that's coming up that's made you happy, made you
go god, that was Ace doesn't have to be tense
related to before.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
It's not be Jamie, I'm going to go tennis related.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
Sorry, it's fine, You're allowed. No.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
Sorry.

Speaker 5 (41:05):
My sisters have their final today for Thursday night. The
same as yea, but today's the final. Like it's like
the whole year we've waited and it's the final.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
So okay, are they in it? I know in it?
But are they Yeah? It's literally her a. So the
week you're going this is like excited, you're live. It's exciting.

Speaker 1 (41:31):
I will never yuck someone's young, but thanks. I was
just asking if it was the same one.

Speaker 5 (41:37):
No, okay, no more change I can add. It's one
of my good friends her Hens party on Saturday, so
that's awesome to get dressed up and go out.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
So always you're borrowing a dress off Dash.

Speaker 5 (41:53):
She's already sold them, so I actually bought them.

Speaker 2 (41:57):
Okay, Dash, what's your race of the week?

Speaker 6 (42:00):
Well, apart from hustling, selling all your all my stuff,
find your find yourself a friend that you can borrow
like close from too.

Speaker 4 (42:12):
Did you have nothing else to say?

Speaker 2 (42:13):
No?

Speaker 6 (42:14):
I actually also you can get your like, get your
eyebrows lemonaded like look look you do?

Speaker 2 (42:20):
Look yeah?

Speaker 1 (42:21):
Push in, push in, push in amazing? Look at that? Okay,
and plenty of time left too, well.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
Three aces of the week. How about your race. It's
going to sound crazy, uneventful, but I bought a push bike.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
I've been I've been Carlos for a few months now,
just getting public transport, everyone walking. I was just my
car was just sitting there and I was paying for
Red Sharron insurance and wasn't using it at all. So
now I'm a cyclist. I'm part of the cycling commutey,
which everyone hates, but I'm full to like what did
you get right? I'm soft launching and discipling and I

(43:05):
it's like no, it's like electric looks like a normal.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
The electrics good like that? Do you stand up like the.

Speaker 3 (43:13):
I didn't think about it because this one he has
to actually, Dad, I go too quick quick.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
I was riding my bike and I was like that
guy's going to die. Yeah, not me. No, I'm If
you ever hit like Chad respects for going up a hill,
you'll be glad you got that motor back up. Yeah. Yeah,
I'm not.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
I'm not fit enough at the moment. Yeah, you're fine,
not very good. Now I've just realized something. My as
of the week I just gave you grief because you
repeated last week's whereas mys of the week is. Last
week it was I'm going on a holiday to Port Douglas.
This week, my as the week is I went on
a holiday to Port.

Speaker 4 (43:54):
That's rough.

Speaker 1 (43:55):
Yes, so apologies Jamie, but jeez. It was good and
also another reason to wear my cal Waine shirt. But
it was hot up there. But there was a bit
of a low point. I came back to work on
Tuesday and was in a huge meeting online like via teams,
and everyone was chatting about Dada da and some I
wasn't really paying attention at one point and someone asked me,
like in the room I was in, like in Ajese,

(44:17):
howse your holiday? And then I somehow went off mute
so told nearly a hundred people, including the exits it
was more than Andrew.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
Yeah, just like it. Oh, it was Brillian.

Speaker 1 (44:24):

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
