Speaker 3 (00:54):
Hi.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
I didn't understand your Gwyneth Paltrow from seven. At the
end of seven, there's a box and in the box
is gwyn Patro's head.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Okay, but ye one of the best films ever made.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah, I know, but like just quite YEA. Luke gets
it now. I had seven seven.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Yeah, I hadn't got you to explain. No one would
know what you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
No, you're not giving our audience the credit they deserve
enough from you. Over to Luke.

Speaker 5 (01:26):
Welcome, Hello guys, back Tina chats on tennis.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Great, speaking of tennis, we've got a real life player,
not that you're not you were, Hi, Jamie, Welcome Jamie. Awesome. Well,
we've got a lot to talk about. Women has just
finished up, so I thought let's just jump straight in
what caught your eyes?

Speaker 4 (01:48):
So our finalists, so Eager defeated Anisimova and Sinner defeated
our Koraz. But we are going to cut quickly to
Duncan and Todd, who are going to wrap it up
for us.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
We have two new wild and champions, and the men's
it's Janick Sinner and the women's it's Eagers Fiontek and
Todd's just joined him. Now, Todd, what do you make
of that men's final?

Speaker 7 (02:07):
Well, it didn't go the way I was expecting. I
thought Carlos would win that. But Janick Sinner today, his
execution and his ability to shut down all of al
Karaz's strengths were quite extraordinary. There was that lift by
our Koraz at the end of the first set, and
you think, okay, he's going to keep going and then
that one bad game, the first service game of the
second then set the tone really for the rest of

(02:28):
the match because Yanick Sinner's level never differ and that's
one of the great strengths of him. And then Carlos
just he had the oxygen taken out of him. He
just wasn't able to find a way to break through.

Speaker 6 (02:40):
And how impressed me with the ability for Yanik to
really serve that out.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
He would have been thinking.

Speaker 7 (02:43):
About a will without doubt because the scoreline was nearly identical,
you know how things had played out in Paris.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
But he's serving today was on point.

Speaker 7 (02:52):
He said, the highest percentage he's ever served in a
match against our Koraz. The accuracy in set one and
two was good, but got even better in sets three
and four, so statistically or he had to keep doing
the same and you know he got that first point
when he served for it.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
That makes such a difference to keep things loose.

Speaker 7 (03:09):
And then there was the point that set up forty
love and for me, when you watch a player and
you see them actually start to work on the game
and improve and they know they've got to do things
that isn't comfortable. Where was he is approaching the net
and making a nice, little difficult short cross caught foehand volley,
and then ready for the next one into the open court.
That's a player that has worked on a lot of

(03:30):
things that under a key moment, was really ready to
take it on.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
So at the end of.

Speaker 7 (03:36):
It all, I watched this match thinking, you know what,
I expected that Sinner would win in Paris and that
Alcaraz would win here. But when you watch this match today,
we may see the reverse of that, because I think
Sinner takes the racket out Alcaraz's hand. On grass, he
doesn't have as much time to be created to play
the drop shots to work the point, and I think

(03:56):
I think Janick Sinner is going to win many more
of these.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
What did you make?

Speaker 6 (03:59):
The women's final was so impressive but very lopsided, wasn't it?

Speaker 7 (04:03):
It was lopsided, and we all know the storyline of
the how quick it was, and in some ways for
Amanda looks like she might have played her final in
the semi and it's it's an experience.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
I think she'll bounce back, Okay.

Speaker 7 (04:16):
I think she's had some life experiences that have balanced
her even to get back to this point of being
in a womood and final, but on Eager, you know, relentless.
It was graph like it was. It's so ironic that
she would lose in Paris and get the time to
play a leading tournament and prepare better for here and
a little less pressure than.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Normal as well.

Speaker 7 (04:37):
She wasn't the number one player in the world, but
in the final, what experience she showed from the very
first point again, she just she was ruthless and very
deserving overall.

Speaker 6 (04:47):
Do you see this is maybe the return of her
to the top of the women's game.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I think so. I think so. I mean she didn't
go diving, did she.

Speaker 7 (04:54):
She'd just fallen off a ranking point or two, and
this will give her confidence on every surface now, and
you know, I look forward to seeing really what she
can do in Australia because now that's the one to
complete that whole set. And we've got a we've got
that with Alcarez too coming at the next day. Oh so,
some some really good stories unfolding. But I think for Eager,

(05:14):
it's taken a bit of time for the new coaching
team to kick in, and I think she'll trust and
believe in that now in wim for set and overall
I'm in the championships after what we saw in the
first week, it's been absolutely a brilliant finish to it.

Speaker 6 (05:29):
Yeah, just one last one. Any other highlights from wed
two tops since we last spoke some great doubles finals.

Speaker 7 (05:33):
Yeah, well the invitational mix was not a highlight. I
Alisa had to carry me over in that one. But
I mean, the are the highlights of the second week. Well,
I think it's actually seeing Sinner rise. The mental capacity
from him for what he's been through just just really
shows you.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
How incredible a young man is.

Speaker 7 (05:56):
And you know, perhaps one of the things that was
a shot it wasn't a winning of the match, it
was actually both Alcaraz and Sinner's speeches at the end
of this final, because boy, we got two very intelligent
young men who are going to drive our sport.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
And you know, if you're a parent at home and
you saw that, you'd be going, oh, yep, I want
my kids to play tennis.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Yeah, good on your todd. Back to you guys in
the studio.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
All right, grade insights there from our men on the
ground over there in Wimbledon. Ree kick us off.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
Well, you know, I think I think the women's final
was a difficult one to see the scoreline. Anisimova has
come out and been brilliant in press, being really positive
about it, talking about how everything's learning. You know, it
just wasn't her day, but a scoreline of six love,
six love would be hard to cope with. But a

(06:49):
huge achievement for her and an even bigger achievement for Igar.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
We did see.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Before she finished her match and then she went and
hugged Courtney Cox in the stand. Isn't she That's pretty cool? Yeah,
she's a pretty big fan of lots of pop culture stuff,
you go, you know tit. But seeing her hug Courtney Cox,
I was like, oh, what did you guys think about
the winners?

Speaker 5 (07:12):
Wimbutin it's pretty amazing mental resilience, isn't it from Yannick,
especially only a month earlier? I guess squandering those match
points in the French Open final and then losing the
first set in the in the women final, coming back
and winning the second, third, and fourth and amazing tennis there,
and those two are just really changing the game. I

(07:33):
feel and feel like they're clearly the two best in
the men's game right now. And it's just great to
see when they both go at it. Amazing tennis and
swy take. I feel like she went under the raider
a little bit and only losing two games in her
last two matches of the tournament pretty pretty amazing. So
to see love and love in the final as well,
a little bit of a shame for anisim over. But

(07:54):
I think she said, you know, if someone said she
was going to be in the final a fortnight earlier,
she would have taken and every day of the week.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
And yeah, what do you think, j Yeah, I think,
And I think her story is pretty incredible, like the
last four or five years, what she's been through mentally,
and it would take such a big toll on her.
And I think to come out and even to play
a Wimby final like that's such a cool experience.

Speaker 8 (08:15):
And I know.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Physically she said that she probably wasn't up to scratch
with someone like Eager, and that's the level you need
to be out to be able to win a slam. Yeah,
she said that she didn't hit the day before because
physically she couldn't get out there.

Speaker 8 (08:28):
She was too tired.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
So yeah, I think something like that is such a
big learning curve to be able to be like, Okay,
if I want to win a slimon, I want to
match it with the best.

Speaker 8 (08:35):
That's the level that.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
I need to be able to sustain.

Speaker 8 (08:38):
And I think there was a start.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
I'm not one hundred pc sure that if the person
that beat kud A Matova Paulina the sister I think
it was a sister would win Wimbi soitch Kova last
year beat could Matova and then she won it, and
then Eager played her first round and also want it.

Speaker 8 (08:56):
So I think that was pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Yeah, I saw that too. A little bit of a
superstition there, I think too. But just on Anisimova, like
there's all this had like double bagel this and you know,
six love six love and all these things piss off,
Like she got to a final of a Grand Slam
and didn't amazing. I don't think she might have not
had her best day, but she was in the final

(09:17):
and she got outplayed by one of the current best
women wa, So I think, sure, not a great result,
but still an epic journey to get there. So absolutely
mad props.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
Her, and I think too further, she's now ranked inside
the top ten.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Yeah, first number seven, so it's massive. What have you done?
Getting a bit sorry, I just I was just reading
some analysis and stuff, not from anyone.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Here, but how she responded, she was just so it
wasn't my day. This is going to make me stronger.
She's really quite positive, like, yeah, it was good and
she's obviously spent a lot of time working on her
mental health to definitely be there and talk like that
and she'll be back, will be no doubt.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Yeah. Well, amazing event over in Wimbledon and our first
Italian and first player from Poland to win Wimbledon. Amazing,
so huge results there and as we all saw before,
sinners mum very happy now. Yeah, so that's good to
see Luke sticking with you, my man. What's your caught
your eye?

Speaker 7 (10:17):
Mon?

Speaker 5 (10:17):
What caught my eye was the fairy tale run of
Rinky Hijakarta and David Pearl making the final of the
men's doubles as alternates, so they were the third alternate
at the beginning of the tournament. Sometimes Wimbledon don't use
their wild cards. In this case, they didn't use two,
so the list moved two spots, and then one team

(10:39):
pulled out, so they moved in and there's a quote
here it was our first time speaking on the day
the tournament started, so pretty incredible there, saving match points
in round one, two and the semi final in sets
two and three in round one, so absolutely amazing. Their
Rinky obviously won the AO in twenty twenty three with

(11:01):
Jason Kubler here as wild cards. So I was having
a chat to him this morning, and I don't think
you'll mind me saying that he's quite up and down
in his doubles. He can be not great, but when
he gets his eye and confident, he's so dangerous, so
absolutely incredible to see, and I feel like he really
steps up in those big matches deep in slams.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
I just don't understand some one thing about all of this,
Like this isn't the first time we've heard about, you know,
doubles pairings who don't play together, they meet each other
for the first time to work as a team. How
do they quickly just pick up? Like I know there's
lots of hand signals and all that sort of bit jazz,

(11:43):
but how does it you know, taught me through how
two people can just suddenly play a match.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Well, I think it's a little bit on personality. Also,
it depends on like your partner, and sometimes you just
like have that moment where you just click two opposites
attract or something special can happened throughout the week where
you get a little bit lucky. Also, I think I
found that in doubles you can probably get a little
bit lucky and you can kind of roll with it
at times, and that's kind of where.

Speaker 8 (12:09):
It kicks off.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
But yeah, I don't know, it's just something that comes
together and you can flow really well. Like there are
so many people that play tennis, and you have an
opportunity to play with anyone and everyone, and sometimes you
go and maybe pick the same person and then you
go and change and you're like, oh, maybe this person
has more positives than my other double's partner.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
And then so I don't know, Yeah, I think like,
I mean, they obviously could have lost first round, but
I think getting through that you probably build a bit
of chemistry and believe and belief in a relationship with
your partner, and then there's something to be said about
something being fresh. I feel like sometimes when you play
with the same partner, sure you get on the same
page as you're saying the signals and the movement, but

(12:51):
that can also get stale where if you play with
the same partner for a long time, so.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
And even predictable to your potential players.

Speaker 5 (12:57):
So like kind of I watched I think a bit
of their third round and they were just having a
lot of fun. Rinky was absolutely the playmaker. He's the
X factor out there, and as I said before, when
he gets his eye and he's absolutely amazing, returns so
well when he's so dangerous from the back of the court.
And David Pearl six foot six.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
At least, he looked tiny and he's not sure one, yeah,
he's not sure.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
So lefty, so he's going to hold his serve. Nky's
strength probably his weakness is upper the net. I think
he would admit that, but as the torment went on,
he was very very clinical up of the net and
his returning and stuff from the back is second to none.
So I think they complimented each other extremely well.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Are they good friends now like him and Pearl? Like,
have they now forged this fantastic friendship?

Speaker 8 (13:48):
Are they playing you open?

Speaker 5 (13:50):
Is that? Come on? I think maybe NK he didn't
accept the final with him, so he's just going to
flick him off and yeah, not play with him ever again.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
I'm could this translate into a successful singles career or
is he all in you know, like our Mat Todd
in the doubles world.

Speaker 5 (14:15):
Definitely, he would still label himself as a singles singles.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
He just keeps having success in the double No, he does,
doesn't he?

Speaker 5 (14:22):
Yeah, in the world.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
I think being a singles player predominantly it helps you
play loose and free in the doubles because you can
tend to definitely tighten up in that format sun death juices,
even though it's not that in slams it is for
most of the year, super tie breaks. I've played my
fair share, and you can definitely get pretty tight and
nervous and anxious. So I think you'll definitely keep playing

(14:45):
doubles at the Slams and really enjoying it.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Great wether for see him again.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
And then also on the like women's side, you've seen
a lot of the top like doubles players then transfer
over to singles like she was like Seblinka, she was
world Noumber one doubles player, one a couple slams, and
now she's point number one singles players. So I think
on the women's side, it definitely helps a lot.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
I guess we can give a shout out to Olivia Gadecki.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
They weren't friends either, were they.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
Well, I think well Storm was supposed to play Dez
and then they did a re partner and Olivia came in,
and then Meyer and Kim Birel also had a great
win against Mohammed and Shurs I think who was seated
quite highly. So great to see the Aussie women getting
some great doubles results as well.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Amazing, and doubles are super fun to watch, like, don't
discount it.

Speaker 8 (15:35):
It's super fun.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
And then it becomes fun because fed Cup Ties was soon, yeah,
soon coming up, so then was fighting for a position
to be singles and doubles player, and yeah, I love
that all.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Right, Well, sticking with the slams, I'll tell you what
caught my eye. Now we're looking at a slam track.
A we'll look at the current crop of players in
the singles and you know, we've obviously got a couple
of outlies, namely one know that Djokovic. He's got twenty
four of the things.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
I like what you've written in our show notes. Too many,
too many, too fits.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
So if you want to know how many, it's twenty
two many of all of them? How many? Too many?

Speaker 6 (16:11):
How many?

Speaker 1 (16:11):
She's still singing folks but then looking at it? So
the current cropper players eager. She's got six and a
nice little mix. Still doesn't have the Aussie Open. Osaka
she's got four, but all hardcourt two US two AO,
and then Sablenka's got three, and then down and the men.
We've got Carlos al Kraz sitting on five, still waiting
for his Norman books from the Australian Open, and Yanick

(16:34):
Sinner he's got four but no French. What does all
of this mean to you? Guys? How locked in do
you think? We are? Now looking at these mainly on
the men's side, it's becoming quite apparent that Carlos and
Yannik are kind of the new two. So we had
our three. I don't Novak Stu, it's we've got three,
so we'll say Novak still in the three. We had

(16:55):
our three Roger, Raffa and Novak, sometimes Andy and Murray
for a bit. But now we've got Novak, Carlos and Yannik.
Has everyone else just been blown out of the water? Again,
we're expecting this next generation of players to come in
and they've kind of come, but it's now we've got
a three again. They're coming though.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
You've got like Tiana and Fonseka. They're going to be
the deeping on their heels before you know it.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Yeah, well I hope so, because I love, yeah, we love.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
I think everyone's looking at Vonseca to be the next
challenger to those two, and I think, as you said,
it's it's Carlos and Yannick and then there's Daylight at
the moment, and it's like Mevedev where sits a pass.
A few years back, they were kind of the three
everyone was looking at, but now it's I mean, still
aware of his He's made a bunch of finals and

(17:41):
just hasn't quite broken through for that maiden Slam title.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
And do you feel like once he does win that one,
that it would just keep rolling, Like, do you think
he needs that breakthrough and then he's going to be
in that top three?

Speaker 5 (17:52):
I mean, yeah, possibly he could get the monkey off
the back a little bit, but I think deep in
slams obviously incredible player, but I feel like he is
lacking just that little bit of X factor you need
in a final that's been incredibly picky, amazing being there
multiple times, but.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
I think Sinner showed that X factor in wimledon in
that fourth set. That's kind of historically where you would
expect the quote unquote favorite of Carlos to turn it
back around and win it in five. But there was
a few key moments there in that fourth set where
Sinna just locked in and did not give Alcarez the
ruin that he needed to turn around. And I think

(18:31):
that's the X factor, the longevity to get through not
just the slam, but also the final itself into that
fourth set and just keep dominating. You're saying Zvereb doesn't
have that X factor. I'm agreeing with you, doesn't have
that X factor.

Speaker 5 (18:45):
Yeah, if I'm under the bus and taking you with me, yeah,
amazing player. But also looking at Jack Drapery, I'm very excited.
Looking at the women's well, I feel like Tek was
under the radar, as we mentioned earlier at Wimbledon, but
sabal Anca has lost in a few finals. Coco Golf

(19:05):
playing amazing, just an incredible, incredible sort of stretch we're
into in the in the women's game as well. And
excited to sort of see that Grand Slam title race
as well.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah, I'm really thrilled to see Coco kind of still
champing at the bit there, Like we have a French
Open win that was incredible, you know, upsetting Wimbledon. I
think she's going to be around and will be one
of the greats. I love Coco, Yeah, I do too.
What about Andreva? Where do we think she'll start to
start nipping on the heels of the women.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
I still think she's quite young, so I think there's
so much she's looking at every time she steps out
and to go. Every time she plays a chord as
a semis or a final of one thousand, two fifty
five hundred, like every time she steps up, you can
see her experience starting to come through. And I think
the more that she plays and is in those moments,
she's learning so much, probably about herself and like her

(19:57):
team is unreal, Like you saw her come out and
a coach, Like there's so much support around her, and
I only think there's a matter of time before she
takes that next step. But yeah, she's still so young,
but I quite like that we have a spread on
the women's side. Yeah, I think it's quite good to see.
I think we had that era of Venus and Serena
kind of winning everything. I think it's quite nice to see,

(20:18):
like the level and the different game styles from each
player too. I know we're a little bit biased with
you know, Eager winning French Nami, hard court sbling a hardcourt,
but I think over the next couple of years they'll
adapt their games as well, and they're the little things
that you improve time to time to be able to
be better on a different surface.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Feel that there's more room for surprises and excitement on
the women's side, like we saw Kennon win here at
the austral And Open a few years ago. And it's
always sort of you can pick some favorites, but that
top end of it is always up and down. Yeah,
it's exciting. It is exciting, all right. Well, speaking of championships, Jamie,
I think you've got a little fun eye catcher of

(20:58):
your own.

Speaker 8 (20:59):
I do so.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
One of my favorite things to do during any Slam
is to watch match point and see how the player
reacts and see like what their celebration is going to be.
Are they falling to the floor, are they're doing the
racket throw? So the team has put together some clips
that I thought would be quite good for you guys
to watch, and I'm going to explain as we watch them,

(21:22):
and then you're going to pick your favorite one, and
then after that, I'm going to ask you what your
celebration would be. If you want Grand Slam fireworks, that's
going to be okay, that's just my face.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
So the first one we've got Venus, she's just one.

Speaker 8 (21:41):
They're all Wimbledon.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
So she's gone for the hands up and down, the jumps,
the double knee jumps, which.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
She's got some good bounce in that.

Speaker 8 (21:48):
Great bounce, which is kind of like nice because the.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Luckily she didn't win when there was a roof, because
that could have been true.

Speaker 8 (21:54):
Yeah, exactly, I know he did.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
He's being polite, James, No, you're good.

Speaker 8 (22:01):
Keep going.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
Next time we're going to go to Andy Murray.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
Ah, the hero of his country. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
I think this is probably one of my favorites. It's
quite authentic, it's quite raw. He's gone for the kick
of the ball to drop the racket. You can see
his family get quite emotional. His wife throw the hat.
So that's that's littal.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
He probably did pretty well with a Sharon That's a
good movie.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
The kicking of the I don't know how people do that.
See people do it at the park. I'm like, hell,
you guys kicking a ball. I can billy throw a ball.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Yeah, what an athlete that's coming from me?

Speaker 3 (22:35):
Okay, next one, and then we've gone with the iconic Serena.
She's gone late on the head. I think that's quite
quite brave. Yeah, don't want to be dropping that trophy.
And then our lucky last, we've gone with probably one
of the most iconic celebrations with Novak eating the grass.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
I think that is so he literally Ben's ins. He
bends down pluck some grass out from the turf.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
And I just wanted to ask Luke, have you tried
the grass at Wimby.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
I haven't, you.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
Haven't, Okay, So yeah, my sister and my coach at
the time, Jared, tried Brahampton grass and then I call
it that year, so we went to Wimby and then
they tried the Wimby grass. Different Yeah, different texture, Yeah,
because I think it's depending on what they put, like
the fertilizer and yeah, what they spray.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
There marinating the grass.

Speaker 8 (23:31):
Yeah, so sorry. That was just just want to.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
So that's the secret to the tennis player's diet.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
Grass grass Well I didn't eat it, but oh okay,
well that's.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
Yeah. Well put a little garnish, yeah, strawberries little.

Speaker 8 (23:55):
That's so funny.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
So which one is your favorite celebration?

Speaker 5 (23:59):
I'm gonna go the Murray because I think when I celebrate,
I lose control of my arms, so to be said,
so I throw them around. I've also done the flick
the hat off, so when I wear it backwards, flick
it off, but all in the one movement like vis
pump flick.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Have you practices.

Speaker 5 (24:19):
I haven't practiced it, but but it always works.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
It always works, and that would be your go.

Speaker 8 (24:23):
That would be a celebrations post.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
We rack it away, flick the hat off, lay on
the ground, possibly not move for minutes.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Love it quite dramatic. Great.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
My favorite is Serena walking with that on her head
because I do quite like to just balance things in
my head and walk like that's kind of a me.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
Thing like an Australia is in the top model sort
of hangover.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Just being an idiot kind of thing. So she was
my favorite. Love that and what would I do.

Speaker 8 (24:55):
What would you do?

Speaker 1 (24:56):
I'd probably do a dance like a high kick or something.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
You dropping racket and then straight for the high kick.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
No, I'd probably keep the racket. It's a cool like
you use it like a I think I would probably. Yeah,
so show girls or more like cheerleader stuff.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
I think cheerleader like that Cowboys, and maybe straight into
the splits.

Speaker 8 (25:22):
And then they get the music going.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
Actually I do a high kick split and then I'd
pop elegantly the racket.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
Down and just stand up and go shake the hand.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
You would not stand up. You would be stuck there forever. No,
I can still do the split some double jointed. Well,
got plenty of not doing it now, Okay, let's remember
well yeah, cool, right, my pick. There's a lot of
good ones there. I think Novak is my least favorite.
Like don't eat the grass. Yeah, I just think it's
a bit weird. It's a bit odd. The greatest player

(25:55):
of all time not questioning that, But we're not questioning
your sister and your coach ch eating it. That's I
am odd behavior, Like you know, like if you have
a dog, they eat the grass when they're feeling sick.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
So the Yeah, but it's so prestigious, like surely you
just have a little ni.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
Have a sniff, you can sniff it, Okay. But my favorite,
I agree with Luke is that andy moment. I think
that's great, not just for him, but also his mum's reaction.
Had it all was high emotion, high accuracy with ball
to foot ratio. Yeah, my celebration. Few options there, I think, no, no, no,
I just run to my tennis bag, pull out my wallet,

(26:33):
get my ATM card and just go check my balance
to make sure that they put it in already. The
amount of money we're talking here pounds too huge wave
or something like thanks for the cat.

Speaker 5 (26:44):
It takes weeks to get paid from SLAM.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
I was just thinking about.

Speaker 8 (26:49):
With your card, drink some.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
Screaming my pin number and then hoping that I'll get margin.

Speaker 5 (26:54):
Just get your cred and shot everyone's drinks.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
I'm the champion, maybe my coach, I'll buying some strawberries.

Speaker 8 (27:02):
Love that?

Speaker 1 (27:02):
Would you do, Jamie Well?

Speaker 3 (27:04):
I think my favorite would be Venus because that's kind
of I feel like how I would react. I think
I would go like the drop rack and I'll just
be like just jumping like hands up. Can see they Yeah,
I think that's what I'll do. So she's probably, yeah,
that's your favorite. Yeah, I don't want it to be forced.
I think I don't really like it when it's forced choreography.

Speaker 8 (27:27):
Yeah, probably is that?

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Like, are you thinking about that just before you play
the point to be like, I'm going to split here.

Speaker 8 (27:33):
I'm gonna because I.

Speaker 4 (27:34):
Think I'd have a few routines in the mix and
I'll just do what I feel is right for that
winning moment.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Yeah, just stand there in horror and then just ship yourself.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Because there was a clip that I saw her for.
There was a clip I saw of the Junior Boys winner,
so he went drop racket, take the hat off, drop
the hat, and then fall to the floor.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
I saw that.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
Yeah, yeah, he needs to work on it.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
Need going forward. We need to have a proper scoring
system for these celebrations. I really like this. That was fun,
Thanks James, it was really good.

Speaker 5 (28:12):
Good job.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
Speaking of competitions, we had a little fantasy draft over
as you know. This time we had Brie Levi and Dan,
two of our other regulars on the pod, and somehow,
I don't know how, our very own Brie pulled out
a win. Technically, tired, but you did pick.

Speaker 8 (28:32):
I got a win champion, so that's a huge win.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
O my god. The team have put together this incredible
award just for you.

Speaker 5 (28:43):
So Levi and Bree both on sixteen, but a title.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
Yes, the tire technically it was a tie, but yeah,
we look at that. Who picked who?

Speaker 5 (28:55):
Chain is huge snerd as well.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
I could have beted me by quite a bit if
our caras true, or if you'd pick either of the
Ladies finalists.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
Yeah, it's interesting, and you said it before that Igor
was kind of went under the radar at Wimbleden and
we didn't pick her from Wimbleden, so it's.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Quite under everyone's radar, including the experts. Sorry quote unquote experts. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
well done. You really earned that paper. Well you had
no faith in me, you had faith in the draw. Yeah,
I know. I actually had a lot of fun doing well.
I hope you guys at home or in your car,
or whether you're listening or watching, also had a bit
of fun with that. We're gonna have a quick at

(29:35):
break now and then we'll be back on the other
side with a bit more tennis news and then some
of the fun stuff, all right, welcome back, everybody more
the tennis from US. A few other stories have been
bubbling around the US Open entry lists have just popped out.
Of course, there's the no knowns, there's the obvious ones,
and everyone is pretty much going to New York for

(29:58):
the US Open. But a couple of pros their break. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
Nick Kiros is using his protected ranking and he will
be there at the US Open. His hair won't be though, No,
he's recently shaved his head. Yeah, yeah, so his hair
won't be there.

Speaker 5 (30:13):
But yeah, exactly should be moving well, slicking.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Through, clicking through.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
We also have twelve Aussies with direct entry into main draws,
so eight men and four women, and we always do
get further two world cards.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Oh great, so there will be fourteen nousies. Yeah, do
you want to go?

Speaker 8 (30:32):
That's huge?

Speaker 1 (30:33):
No, I mean like, do you want to play? You
could be oh as the world could be anyway.

Speaker 5 (30:37):
Yeah, I'm playing some Pennant this week. So Paul killed
Airy wherever you are, I'm actually I'm hit the right
so great and he's the balls the NTC. Now, so
Killer you don't do much at the best of time,
so come over and have.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
A little hard agress I saw your story yesterday, the
winner line, the passing shot that was hopefully we can
get that up and get some little to that.

Speaker 8 (31:00):
That was pretty cool.

Speaker 5 (31:01):
We felt a lot better than what the footage show.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
But it looked good. Yeah, look good, amazing in the draw. Yeah,
this started as a joke, but I'm on board now,
both of you in there, killer killer.

Speaker 5 (31:16):
So twelve Australian men and women and Luke sabile as
for the US Opens.

Speaker 8 (31:22):
So we coaches are we support stuff.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
I mean because it's hard, the content being hardcourt tournament,
you don't have to eat the surface. So I'm all
for it. Yeah, good, Yeah, I like that. Son's good.
US Open. Well, we'll be covering that extensive closer. We
hit up the US Swing back over that side of
the pond, looking at the coaching world. So in the

(31:45):
media at the moment, Zverev has been training with Tony
the Dull down in may Orca. But that's just the
tip of the iceberg.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
Yeah, we also have you know, we've spoke about it.
Last week's sister pass is being coached by Goren.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
Lauren's not talking about him in the press, but they're
still together.

Speaker 4 (32:01):
They're still together and rube lev Is with saphen So
there's a little bit of a trend we feel of
players going back.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
To coaching greats of the past.

Speaker 5 (32:12):
Yeah, I feel like at that point end of the game,
everyone's just looking for those extra few percent and then
I personally felt like I didn't need a former player
as a coach, but probably a lot of players do
want that experience of someone that's played at the highest level.
So definitely starting to see a trend, and asware of
Antonia de Dall, it's definitely an interesting one.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Yeah, I quite like it.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
It's bring back the older players, and I feel like
their knowledge and experience would be pretty incredible, especially for
three of those top players trying to get into the
top five or top ten or like.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
Pretty exciting there in the world of coaching. But now
for some true excitement, Bri got a top five for
us right here, I do.

Speaker 4 (32:53):
We are doing top five Royal Box moments from Wimbledon,
So I just wanted to share quit little facts. Wimbledon
started the Royal Box in nineteen twenty two, strictly only
section next to the stadium center court that seats seventy
four people, with no tickets available to the public to
goore a seat, you have to receive a personal invitation

(33:16):
from the chairman of the All England Club and you
can't pay your own way in, so there's no bribery,
so sorry, Zave, and invitees are amazing.

Speaker 1 (33:26):
Not to say that sorry.

Speaker 4 (33:28):
Invitees are announced to the crowd ahead of each match,
so the guest list remains a secret until the moment
they say who's in the box, so like so David Addenborough.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
So it's not just royals. You don't have to know
the royals.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Royals and royal families connections like throughout the world kind
of thing.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
They get instant access. Nice. The rest need to be invited, gotcha.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
Unless you've won Wimbledon then you also get instant access, so.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
You can just rock up. So Roger can just turn
up every day we have to probably probably you're an email.
I wanted to come on these days, the King chuck,
I'm going to be there tomorrow. Warm a seat for me.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
But so there was one time David Attenburgh they announced
him to the crowd and everyone gave him a standing ovation.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
Why wouldn't you, I know, I love David Edinburgh.

Speaker 4 (34:17):
Anyway, So we're just going to go through some top
five moments that have been a little bit funny, tricky, naughty.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
Can I do the buttons? Yes? Which one? First? Yep? Geez,
pause on that one.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
First one is from twenty five Q Grant falling asleep.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Wake up Jeff, time break so early.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
And he was watching Djokovic and Koboli in the quarter final.
And my spies tell me that he had to be
woken up because he was on broadcast, so they probably
want to check his pulse, but don't even love the
in the tie has kind of split, like he's really
just slumped and asleep in the Royal Box. And he's

(35:06):
not far from Camilla as well, so that's why he
kept showing up on broadcast and they had to be like,
mister Grant, could you please wake up?

Speaker 3 (35:12):
But at what point do the people on his side.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Be like, yeah, a little elbow. He was next to his.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Wife, Yeah, wake him up, wake him up.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
That's not his wife, no on the other side, right, Okay.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
Okay, let's go to four. This is a particularly good one.
In twenty fifteen, Sir Louis Hamilton was rejected from being
in the Royal Box as he didn't wear a tie.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Or a suit jacket.

Speaker 4 (35:37):
So he actually this is a post, so we've got
up on the screen him and what he was wearing
without the tie and the suit jacket, but also an
Instagram post of him being very excited about his invites.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
I'm pretty there'd be the dress code. Mate, Well, if
you're one of the greatest Formula one drivers of all time,
to get it together.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
Tie his assistant forget, forgot to tell him of the
dress coat. You're in there, so the hat was probably
also wrong.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
That was like, Patti rafter than you can medal one year?
No tie?

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Oh did cru send him home?

Speaker 5 (36:14):
He attended, he was in there.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
Yeah, he doesn't need he doesn't need a type rafter.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
He looks good in anything. It is true.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
But Lewis did understand. He didn't kick up a stink.
He was like, yeah, I understand the rules. I'm really sorry,
but I think he was really disappointed.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
But like pop, like, go to the gift shop, go
grab a tie. What are we doing here? Also, what's
he wearing? He looks what is this shirt? He looks
like he's.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
About to do you leave, go get a tie and
then come back, and then suit jacket and then come
back like my invitation is.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Still valid, yeah, or like you've got all these assistants
that you're blaming for your wardrobe malfunctions. Send one of
the end of the shops. Yeah, come on, bro, come
on bro, better Yeah, be better? Right, next up break three.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
In twenty sixteen, it was reported that Bradley Cooper an
arena shake having an argument in the real box, resulting
in her crying. So this hit the headlines of all tabloids.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
He was awake in this one.

Speaker 4 (37:08):
Yeah, I know he looks younger there too, nine years,
ten years prior. But yes, there were all these kind
of speculations. Having an argument was all headlined front page
news in the UK.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
Came out a couple of days later. She was struggling
with pollen in her eyes. She had a bit of hate.

Speaker 4 (37:27):
Speculate away, who knows, but they definitely look like again
not happy.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
Give you your glasses. You're sitting there with his son.
He's on I reckon they were actually having a fight.
Oh yeah, I think it was a large swallowed that
bullshit story. Yeah, yeah, he looks a bit mean. Oh
he's not mean. It's beautiful. What's next, bray two?

Speaker 4 (37:50):
Okay, we're going back to the sixties and the nineties
because we really needed Princess Margaret in here, who used
to sit in the Royal Box and smoke.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
So we've got some photos.

Speaker 4 (38:01):
From nineteen sixty six, nineteen sixty eight, and nineteen ninety five.

Speaker 8 (38:05):
Well that I love that.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
So five No one of the previous ones. I think
sixty eight. I think that one like color of Top, No,
I think there is ninety five. I mean the glasses
are very nineties, a little bit back to the future.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
Anyway, she's known as a rule breaker, little miss Princess Margaret.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
In those photos she went from like Audrey Hepburn to
like back to the future carriers. Yeah, I'm really into
a market. I love her.

Speaker 4 (38:33):
She's so cool and the fact that she's sitting there
where you're supposed to be elegance and grace with a
CIGGI yeah, hats off.

Speaker 8 (38:42):
For that's so cool.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
So that's a bit glorified. I think that's ninety five.
I don't know. I'll have to check.

Speaker 8 (38:48):
That is so cool.

Speaker 1 (38:49):
How good is it? It's a little at the end,
a bit turned in. Sure it's not a ja. It
does look like a marijuana marijuana. Well, they're eating grass
down there and a Royal box.

Speaker 8 (39:01):
Gota do what you gotta do, Margaret.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
She is not doing drugs, yes, but we're not sure
given box number one. All right, this is gonna be
hard to top. Yeah, I know I should have put
her first.

Speaker 4 (39:21):
We've got Megan Markle rejected for wearing je jeans in
twenty nineteen.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
So here you can see she's.

Speaker 4 (39:27):
In jeans, a jacket and a hat. So she really
wanted to go into the Royal Box and they said, no,
you're in jeans.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
That's not scrip for after she was a royal. She's
already a royal. It was before she'd been kicked out
of the royal family though, before she left the royal family. Yeah,
because she had to go in opera.

Speaker 4 (39:48):
But she also did say if she was to sit
in the box, no one was allowed to take photos
of her fans, professional photographers alike. And then she did
become known as the control freak.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
She's painful, and now this Riviera whatever thing she's working on,
and then she's didn't she steal the flag from Majorca.
I've got thoughts I'm putting. I'm gonna have a little
just another podcast, royal of them. I think we're fine.
I think something and it just gave me the.

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Change the logo because with me alone. Yeah, look, she's
just she's really trying.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
But that was my top five.

Speaker 4 (40:29):
That was was fust Margaret.

Speaker 1 (40:31):
For the Win said that was a good top five
with two being the best. Yeah, I should have put
it one. Yeah, it's all subjective if you've got a
different top five for Pretty Center in podcast at tennis
dot com. Are you so the week? This week and
every week? Stole that from NPR? Sorryree, let's start with you.

(40:52):
What's your rest of the week. Okay, I am heading
to Newcastle, Torow and I this is meant to be
a good thing, happening to think.

Speaker 4 (41:00):
That the prodigal daughter is returning home after two years
of not being home.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
But it will be nice to be home. My mum
is well, it's warmer.

Speaker 4 (41:09):
Yeah, it's still cool, Like it's eighteen degrees, which I'm
so into, but that is cold for Newcastle. But mum's seventy.
So I'm heading home to see the fan. But I
stay in this hotel. I quite like there, and I
wake up and you see water views. Now it's of
the coal loader, but it's actually beautiful anyway, I'll show

(41:30):
your photos next week.

Speaker 1 (41:31):
But it's really good. Okay, yeah, all about yourself.

Speaker 5 (41:35):
My ace of the week. Dasha and I went to
Dalsford on the weekend for two nights and very very
nice territory there and yeah, I loved it. Stated at
a great little hotel call the Dudley bu Take Hotel.
Everyone stayed there, ran by two guys Charles and Adrian

(41:57):
did an amazing job. So I really enjoy to go
to Dalesford.

Speaker 1 (42:01):
I love Dalsford people. And it's got all the best
bits of like a small country town but without the
bad bits, so it's great. Got a beautiful lad beautiful
food spas, nice markets, insta store. Did you go the antiques?
We're like the meal, the mill Mark incredible, huge. But

(42:22):
there's also that little tiny one in town. Your friend
of mine owns a shot there that sells cheese and wine.
Wine's peak near the round about it in the middle.
Because I went to Easter. I love Dalsford's cool. Yeah,
and it's not that far like I live out that
way and it's an hour and forty minutes. Yeah, after
the show goes, after the show go.

Speaker 8 (42:43):
Now, okay, okay, let me say my ace and then I'll.

Speaker 1 (42:45):
Go excellent over to you. What's your race the week?

Speaker 3 (42:47):
Yeah, I'm actually quite excited about my ace of the week,
to be honest. So my local VFL team, the Preston Bullance,
won their first game two weeks ago in three hundred
and eighty days.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
Wow, yep, so that's great.

Speaker 8 (43:00):
It's fantastic.

Speaker 3 (43:01):
And then last week on the Sunday they went back
to back, so they've gone to in a row, so
shout out Bullance. And then they play again this Sunday,
hopefully for three in a row. So yeah, that's kind
of my it's huge.

Speaker 1 (43:13):
We're just going to let bullantce go. That's no. I
need to talk about why are these I like, you
look at AFL teams and they're like, you know, the
the Hawks, the Cats, the Blues. Why are they bull
Are they like small?

Speaker 3 (43:25):
But no, So they used to be part of their
standalone VFL club, So they're the Preston Bullands, and they
used to be part of Carlton. So there used to
be the Northern Bulance and then Carlton now have their
own VFL team, and then Preston Bullance have their own standalone.
But I'm not sure why it's a bulland I think
there's a lot of history to the Preston Ballance, to

(43:46):
the club.

Speaker 1 (43:46):
So for the community, this is my afternoon deep on Wikipedia. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
So for the club it's been really great and for
the community around it, and for the players as well.

Speaker 8 (43:55):
Three days without a win.

Speaker 1 (43:59):
Got on them for not giving up.

Speaker 3 (44:00):
Yes, so it's been really good for everyone and for
the club.

Speaker 1 (44:03):
So shadows very good, well done. Alright, my turn. Now.
I love a good movie. But you know what I
love better than a good movie, a really bad.

Speaker 5 (44:13):
Good movie, like a cringe.

Speaker 1 (44:15):
Yeah. Like it was bad in the sense that it
was just bad, but it was really fun. It was
like a classic, instant classic. I'm going to call it
buddy comedy called Heads of State. It's brand new out
this way. Idris Elba and John Cena did you go
to the movies? That's on Prime the movies researching for
the show. But it was just it was bad in

(44:37):
the best possible way. John Cena is a movie star
turned US president. He was at Wimbledon. He was, yeah,
that's cool. And then Idris Elba plays the UK Prime Minister.
It's stupid, it's fun. No, no, no, it's like stupid
in the sense of like this would never happen, but
it was just it was well shot. It was all action. Yeah,

(45:00):
good action buddy comedy. Very kind of eighties. Yeah, heads
of State. It's called on Amazon Prime, Amazon Prime free
plug there because I know Jeff Bezos needs my help.
And that's it for Ace of the week. And I've
got here, Bri that you're going to interrupt with some news.

Speaker 4 (45:16):
We have Davis Cup here back in Australia after three
years playing in Sydney in September. I know Luke played
in the last Davis Cup three years ago. Here in Australia.

Speaker 5 (45:27):
I played in early twenty two against Hungary. I lost
my doubles, but we won the tie.

Speaker 8 (45:34):
That's still good.

Speaker 5 (45:35):
It doesn't matter if you lose a match if the
team wins, right, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (45:40):
It doesn't matter my winnings winning.

Speaker 5 (45:43):
It's actually false. I felt terrible, but the team carried
and got through and yeah, very exciting another time here
in Slia and probably spearheaded by Alex Demonar, who plays
his best turners up there in Sydney, who.

Speaker 1 (45:56):
Does loves a team event too. So that's going to
be good.

Speaker 4 (45:59):
Yes, So in Sydney and Ken Rosewell Arena in September.
Tickets are on sale now. The tickets are selling really well,
so make sure you get your ticket asap because you
don't want to miss out. Nothing like Ossie Pride, Assie
Soil and Team.

Speaker 1 (46:16):
Yeah. I'll be there, Yeah, definitely you no, no, no,
what you said before, you're so keen you're going to
even like on your own my own ticket. Yeah yeah,
all right, well, thank you, Bray, very important to get
your tickets now. Luke, thank you so much for coming
back on the show. Always a pleasure love having I
hope you come back. Same with you, Jamie. Thank you

(46:37):
for joining us, and you're coming back in a couple
of weeks.

Speaker 3 (46:40):
I hear.

Speaker 8 (46:40):
I think I am.

Speaker 1 (46:44):
Something Jakata with TikTok very good and we needed a
new and improved guest host for that week. Definitely now
is going to come into the hot.

Speaker 8 (46:53):
Set big shoes to Fiel, but.

Speaker 1 (46:54):
Absolutely sometimes your sandals.

Speaker 8 (46:57):
That's fine, I can bring my sandals here we go.
