Speaker 1 (00:06):
Good morning. We're talking all this week on the question
What is truth? And this is such a foundational issue
for us in our lives. When we talk about truth
in this sense, it's not just facts. We're talking about
the foundations you build your life on, the way God
has set up human life and set rules for how
(00:30):
it works. And if you ignore those rules, your life
just ends up a mess.
Well, where are you finding the truth that guides your life?
Are you just making it up as you go and
hoping it'll work out?
How's that working out for you? I bet you've discovered
that you need to find truth outside of yourself. The
(00:53):
truth that shapes your life and makes it what it
ought to be. I remember sitting next to someone on
the plane one time and talking to her about God,
and she was really resistant and putting down anything I said.
And I was talking about the brokenness of this world
without God, and I just said to her, but you
(01:14):
feel it, don't you? And she said, What do you mean?
I said, you feel it in your own life that
things are not the way they should be, that something
is missing, that things are wrong in your life. And
there was a long pause, and she said, Well, yes.
It's, it's something we recognize when we stop and think
(01:34):
about it. We need God's truth.
The world is pushing God's truth away, isn't it?
Uh, it puts down people of faith. It puts down, uh,
people who appeal to an external standard for life.
(01:56):
It was true in ancient times too. That's not a
new phenomenon. In Jeremiah chapter 7, Jeremiah was one of
the prophets of God, and his words to the people
of Israel are recorded in the Bible.
The prophets were sent by God and so often they
(02:16):
just cut through the haze and pointed out truth to people.
And here's what God says to Jeremiah in Jeremiah chapter
7 verse 28. God says you shall say to the people.
This is the nation that did not obey the voice
of the Lord their God and did not accept discipline.
(02:40):
Truth has perished. It is cut off from their lips.
The nation had gone so far in rejecting God that
Jeremiah could say truth has perished in the nation.
And God said, Because you're ignoring my truth, you're in
for disaster. Remember, truth is not just what you believe.
(03:05):
That is what you believe, right? And people say, Well,
that's your truth. This is my truth. In a sense,
we use the word truth in that way.
But we're talking here about ultimate truth, truth that's external
to you, God's truth, that's true for everyone, no matter what.
If you ignore God's truth, you're just missing out.
(03:26):
You know, in these days, the rise of artificial intelligence
and the kinds of things we're seeing on YouTube and
other social media claiming to be truth and it's getting
harder and harder to discern what's real and what's not,
it's starting to make our society think that we just
(03:48):
can't trust any truth claims, even what we see on
the news. Is it true?
But that's not right, because God has spoken to us
in the Bible long before AI. There was God speaking
to us, the God who created us, the God who
designed you as a person and put you into a
(04:11):
world where life works a certain way.
You can come to God and come to the Bible
and learn the way that life works. You can put
God at the center of your life, and He will
change your life, and He's revealed Himself to us in
the person of Jesus Christ. He's inviting you today to
(04:34):
stop believing things just because the world pushes them on you.
Start building your life on God's truth and watch it
start changing your life.
Choose the right foundations and then build your life on them.
I'm John North.
