the popcorn moment. Let's go, let's start show. It's a
story you need to hear to believe. Then grab your
popcorn because there is more. And of course redistricting has
been the front and center subject, and there was Governor
Brawn on Newsmax with Rob Schmidt just the other days.
(01:30):
What's your response to that and what are you guys
doing to try and make this happen.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
I talked to him for over ten minutes here earlier today,
and I think calling the state out. He knows where
I'm at in this whole navigation. I can call them
into session. And I did that with plenty of time.
This has been several months Rob, where they've been dragging
their feed and as more Senators started coming forward, they
(01:56):
actually put the wet blanket on it because they knew
it was going to get there. And that's where the
Senate program said they're not even going to gabble into session.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
That's the governor going directly at Rod Bray and discussing
his conversation with President Trump. The question is and all
the conversation about rift, has it led people to wanting
to engage these primary challenges President Trump has said, there's
going to be a primary challenge and all these people,
and he's going to support the primary challenge, and he's
(02:26):
going to go after Bray and this one and that one. Well,
some people are answering the call. Paula Copenhaveer joins us now.
She has served there in Fountain County. She was the
GOP chairman over there. She has also been a county clerk,
and she has made her announcement to run for State
(02:49):
Senate in District twenty three. So I appreciate you taking
the time to be with us. Paul. I want to
be clear, this is not an endorsement in any way,
shape or form. This is about understanding. You've run for
office before, So is this just your tem to run
again or is this very specific about the redistricting conversation.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Well, first of all, Tony's thank you so much for
reaching out and having me on. The reason I'm running
is who's yours and Americans You're tired of electing people
into office to stand up and fight for the Republican
Party platform, and when they get there, they don't fight
for us to truly help to truly help us keep
our republic. And that's what my main concern is I
(03:32):
am in it to win it. I'm tired of not
having representation. When Republicans get in power, they sit back.
They have the power to do good and they don't.
And so I'm not willing to sit back and be
quiet any longer.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
You have served en roles in the Republican Party, you
have served as a county clerk. You've run for office before,
including a run that you made in the Republican primary
against the current state center there in District twenty three.
Spencer Deary took a third place, finished there with twenty
two point nine percent of the vote. Full disclosure it
(04:09):
was Deary with thirty point eight percent of the vote,
outpacing you by a little over nine hundred votes, Just
around nine hundred votes. I should say. So, when you
discussed the idea of not taking any longer. You've run
for office before, is it the belief that there's that
this has always been the case, or has the redistricting
(04:31):
now brought other people out from the woodwork.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Well, I think the redistricting the issue has brought other
people out from the woodwork. And the thing is if
once you have that conversation with people and you explained
them what is at stake. Then they are on board
for redistricting because they understand that when we put Indiana first,
we are putting America first. And when we have a
leader like Donald J. Trump, that is paving the way
(04:58):
for us to keep our repub blake instead of turning
it over to a democratic socialist party. You know, our
local Democrats may not believe like that, but they are
part of the larger picture of the party, which are
Democrats socialists, and that is the way we're leaning. And
if we don't redistrict, we are at risk of losing
our republic.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Talking to Paula Copenhager running for announcing she's running for
state Senate in District twenty three, Paula Copenhaveer co op
E n h A V E R Paula Copenhaveer dot com.
That message, that message of redistrict or die, which is
(05:40):
a little a bit of a takeoff of New Hampshire.
Does that message resonate when when Hoosiers look at what's
happening in this conversation about redistricting, do they, in your view,
see it this way or are you trying to spread
that message? And just whether I agree with you or not,
(06:00):
I want to hear from you, how do you back
up that message?
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Well, and that's that's the same thing. That's where I
was at when this whole sedgery came up. Because I
am a former county clerk. I know what it takes
to redistrict. I see what it looks like. I've seen
what it looks like in Illinois. I've seen what it
looks like in Massachusetts. But when you look at the
broader picture, you see what is really at stake. It's
not really about all about Indiana. It's it's about America,
(06:26):
and we have to fight when we fight for Hoosiers
to keep Indiana first, that we are coming alongside our
president who is fighting to keep America first and to
keep America great. We are the greatest nation in the country.
But if we sit back and we don't play by
the same rules that the other party plays by, we
(06:46):
don't even have a dog in the fight.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
I want to make sure the greatest nation in the world.
I want to make sure we said that right. That's
what it is, that the country. How do you respond
to people and how do you address this with other
potential candidates When you hear the idea of this is
rigging the system, this isn't fair, this is a power grab,
(07:11):
this is cheating.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
How do you respond to that, Well, it's just like,
you know, Republicans want to stand into their principles, and
that's exactly what the Democratic Party is counting on, is
that's not to play by the same rules that they
have played for by years. And so when you sit
down and you have a conversation with them and you
look at what all is at stake and you walk
(07:34):
through the process, it's very clear to see that we're
not playing by the same rules. We never have. And
then once again when Republicans getting into office on the
promises that they're going to fight, they're going to push
back against the Democratic socialists, they have the power to
do it, and they sit there and they don't do it.
We have to come together, we have to follow our leader,
(07:56):
which is Donald J. Trump, to make America great. Who's
res first. Seventy percent of America, seventy six percent of
America is made up of small cities and towns with
small town values, who are patriotic, faith filled, and family values.
And that is what does at stake here is turning
our nation over to a Democratic Socialist party.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Paul Copenhaemer, I appreciate you taking the time to be
with us, just really quick before I let you go.
And I know I'm going to run late. As Saul
Lensky's rules for radicals would explain, a good countermeasure means
you might have to see it through to the end,
which is to say, if you win, you might vote
very districting. But what else is on your platform?
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Is it all.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Single issue or is there something else you want to
see Indiana doing because you're still needing to represent your district. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Absolutely, And I'm going to continue to stand up to
fight for our rural communities. And like I said, the
majority of my district is rule and I'm not part
of the political elite. I want to be part of
continuing to shape Indiana's future and moving us forward in
the rural community. The other thing is with my platform
(09:17):
is to make sure that we fight against the green
energy stuff that's coming in and what they've done in
Vermilion County carbon capture, all with the climate nonsense propaganda
that has been perpetrated on us. I will be a
voice for that community to push back against it.
