let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
It's a story you need to hear to believe. Then
grab your popcorn, because there is more. I spoke with
Senator Todd Young yesterday about the possibility of a peace
deal with Ukraine and Russia, wanting to get his take
on it and did he have any other information for
us with his being on the Senate Intelligence Committee. These

(02:08):
reports of a possible peace deal with Russia and Ukraine,
which would involve obstensibly Ukraine giving up more land than
Russia's already taken. It doesn't make NATO a it doesn't
make Ukraine a NATO nation, but it would make it

(02:29):
kind of I don't know NATO adjacent if you will,
from what you know, what can you tell us if
you know anything more? And what do you think of
the possibility of a deal here?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Well, thanks for having me on, Tony. You know, we're
all watching this situation in Ukraine and throughout Europe as
they hold negotiations about the future of Ukraine and the
Russia Ukraine War, watching it pretty intently. I've got to say,
you know, Marco Rubio, Secretary Driscoll who is our Army secretary,

(03:03):
and the President himself, they're working very hard to make
sure we get adjust in peaceful resolution to this war.
It's it's it's horrible. It's been an absolute blood letting
and and it's and it's just obviously not good for anyone.
So I have been vocal, you know, through social media

(03:23):
and interviews and all the rest, that any peace deal
has to be a good piece deal otherwise that you know,
it's a surrender. And what does a good piece deal
look like. Well, it should not limit the size of
Ukraine's armed forces, because we want Ukraine to deter any

(03:46):
further aggression, and it should not deter Ukraine from being
a viable independent nation in the future. Controlling its own future.
So that should reserve to the Ukrainian people, through their government,
the ability to dictate what their future relationship to other

(04:08):
European neighbors looks like. Uh, that should not be something
that Vladimir Putin gets to dictate in the terms of
an agreement. So I hope that we can, you know,
at this point in the conflict, which has turned into
really a stalemate now for a number of years, I

(04:30):
hope we can get some sort of agreement that it
will not include the provisions I've had, but will bring
this horrible fighting to a close so that the Ukrainian
people can resume uh, you know, economic growth and prosperity
and peace and and and Vladimir Putin will go back

(04:51):
to uh, you know, being the leader of his country
and not meddling in in his what he likes to
called near abroad, the countries of Europe, just outside of
his borders.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Is this a deal that is pro America? Is this
a deal that is dear Lord? The best we can
do is just stop the killing, because we don't have
the resolve, the dollars, or the hardware to push of
Vladimir Putin all the way back. Is there anything that's
going to be seen in this from your colleagues as

(05:32):
we're wimping out here, we're not doing enough, we're not
pushing hard enough to stop Vladimir Putin and not reward
this kind of naked aggression.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Well, the original terms of the twenty eight points of
this agreement were, you know, they began the conversation and
I think the Ukrainian government Zelensky appropriately said that there
are some points here that would undermine our sovereignty, our security,

(06:03):
our future prosperity, and he couldn't live with them. Now
we're down to I think the number is nineteen points
that are more acceptable, and it's in the balls in
the court of Vladimir Putin to see whether or not
he can accommodate himself make some moves in terms of

(06:24):
the negotiation to bring this horrible war which he started
to an end.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
I just don't know if he's willing to do it.
My full interview with Senator Todd Young is there at
WBC dot com. You should give it a listen.
