Podcast Episode 007: Wishes

Hello, my name is Nicholas. I am a 39-year-old man and I have a disability called Autism.

On this podcast, we’re talking about wishes

People like me and children who have been battling cancer and other illnesses have been having a number of wishes. Some of their wishes became real and some of their wishes didn’t become real.

It’s different than fantasy stories, like a story about a lamp that has a genie on the inside and they can’t get out. And, also, it’s just like when you walk to a wishing well, flip a coin into it and make a wish and your wish doesn’t come true.

I’ve been having wishes all the time and I’ve been making my wishes on fill-in activity books and Facebook. It started to begin with Typo’s “Have You Ever Asked Yourself: What If” book from 2017 and one of the questions were What if you got granted three wishes and what would they be?

My three wishes were to:

Become a full-time writer and novelist and have a full-time writing and novel writing career; give a copy of my first novel, The Mysterious Coat, a copy of Rockwiz Salutes the Bowl DVD and a hard copy of my own movie script called “The Vamps” to Sophie Monk in person; and my own movie, The Vamps become as a movie, being a feature film with my dream cast and an all-Australian cast.

But none of my wishes became granted and also didn’t become true.

When I looked at the public posts about if you have one wish and what it would be on Facebook, answering the same question on some public posts, my wishes were: a copy gun to be invented; an Australian anti-corruption watchdog to be launched; wanting Sophie Monk to make and record a second album because she made her first single years ago, Nice to Meet You in 2021 after her appearance as a dragonfly in The Masked Singer Australia; time travel to be invented with a time machine; Bardot to be back together for a reunion tour and perform in capital cities and regional areas including Geelong and Bendigo, also across Australia; Bardot’s Greatest Hits to be re-released on CD and DVD; any Australian music writer to be interested in to write a biography on Bardot and its members as a book; call any Australian film director, producer or production company to make a big screen adaptation of Eucalyptus as a second chance for the Australian film industry; try to get the Adelaide Football Club to bring Lance Franklin back to join the Crows before retirement; meet Sophie Monk in person again; teleportation device to be invented; and go to Brisbane and meet Jodie Moore in person.

And, for the other question from one of public posts about if a genie to give you three wishes:  Zombie Plane to be released at all of the cinemas across Australia; local content quota which it means scripted drama, comedy, documentary and children’s television includes children’s drama to be revived for Australian commercial television; and Adelaide winning the AFL Grand Final and have its third premiership.

And for my Facebook posts: Hilary Clinton to take part in the 2020 Democratic Party American presidential election nomination and try again to become “America’s first female president” in 2019; Labor to win the Australian federal election in 2022; and go back in time to 2016 and put the whole population of the United States of America to vote Hilary and help her to win the American presidential election and become the first female US president; and also for one of the board games that I bought from Typo.

I made three wishes that I want to be granted in ten years from now and one of the questions is about the same topic on Tuesday December 27 last year and one of the wishes were: Australia to win the Rugby World Cup by
