Bert Jan ten V. en Maikel T.T. kregen respectievelijk 23 en 18 jaar cel voor de moordaanslag op advocaat en curator Philippe Schol. Schol overleefde de aanslag en zat deze week bij het gerechtshof in Arnhem waar het hoger beroep in de zaak dient.
In een nieuwe aflevering van de Tubantia Crime Podcast bespreken misdaadverslaggevers Erwin Waanders en Maarten Schoon samen met host Frank Bussink deze spraakmakende zaak. De aanslag op Schol vond enkele maanden na de moord op advocaat Derk Wiersum plaats, maar kreeg landelijk veel minder aandacht. „Eigenlijk is dat bizar", zegt Erwin.
Wat de zaak ook zo pijnlijk maakt, is de manier waarop Schol zijn eigen beveiliging moest regelen. Een paar maanden voor de aanslag werd hij door de Duitse politie gewaarschuwd. De Nederlandse overheid zei dat Schol zelf zijn beveiliging maar moest regelen. „En toen Schol na de aanslag uit het ziekenhuis kwam, kreeg hij een veel te klein kogelwerend vest", vertelt Maarten. „Schrijnend.”
