I mean, we love this setting and it is a
privilege to be here. This place is it's incredible and
the history is incredible.

S4 (06:01):
It is. Indeed, the carols by candlelight family would like
to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, which we
gathered on tonight. There were one jury whoI were the
people pay our respects to the elders past, present and future.

S5 (06:13):

Thank you to Sonia Cappellazzo, who built this magnificent number six.
Me into it backstage is an extraordinary human being. And
this dress, I don't think I'm ever going to take
it off. I think though,

S4 (06:55):
very much like I was going to have to be
like a flower girl tonight, I felt like Pippa Middleton
tonight goes really well, turn around. And so I don't
to show off guys that I want to show off.
You know what, Pippa Middleton, we're going to have a
great time tonight. There's some good dance moves happening. Joe

the hottest tickets in the country right now, the cost
of frozen. Yes, get those Elsa heads out there, the
cast of Hamilton, not Broadway, they're shocked the sands and
the cast of Moulin Rouge just down the road. Air
travel is also back in a big way. So you

(08:29):

somebody fly through somebody very jolly. There's going to be
a landing here tonight, kids, yet so get excited. Hands up.
Who knows this coming to know who's going to be here?
Who's coming? You're too old to say.

Now you might have seen on the Today show that
we recently launched a competition in conjunction with the new
animated movie Sing two, starring Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon and Bono.

S4 (12:55):
Yeah, so the movie encourages you to dream big dreams
and is full of amazing music and adventure fun for
the whole family. My kids cannot wait to see this.
They're obsessed with seeing what

S5 (13:07):
we've seen to them, footage of themselves singing a Christmas
song or carol for a chance to perform here at
our rehearsals in front of a live audience.

S4 (13:15):
Yeah, and so huge congratulations to Mrs Coleman as she
performed River the Joni Mitchell Classic. She did last night.
Let's have a listen.

UU (13:23):
I'm going to make a lot of money, then I'm
going to quit this crazy scene.

S2 (13:28):
Oh, I wish I had a river. I could skate

UU (13:34):

song is such a great new Christmas standard to the
Joni Mitchell classic, it's so beautiful.

these choir together, the crews running around the kids have
done their hair. Mum and dad have made sure they've
gone out there. Nice, you know, standing up straight. They're

A internet presents a love song. You know,

S2 (17:31):
Carl, when I first turns you on, but I know
we connected. Yeah, sometimes folks might treat you wrong and
you feel rejected. Got it. His story never wipes, so
I wrote a song to set things right because I'm
grateful to belong in your life. Where? Of unlimited data.

(18:00):
You fill me up with useful facts like to push
down first before we met, I hated cats and I
just thought you should know. You know, my wonderful, whimsical
with the weather system for long haul flights and six
hours of old Oscar speeches, finding a site that sells

(18:22):
medical bleachers, chatting on a forum about stuff that tastes
like blue. You learned how to turn spinach in the past,
shooting aliens with some kid in Alaska and how the
egg gets cleaned with whale poo. And you run them
down and you fill my phone with apps and means

(18:47):
now and you apply. I never knew that girls could
sing and I just thought, you should know. You know,
my wonderful, whimsical, weirdly irresistible, and if everyone's which I

UU (19:02):
espouse, the folks who paid for me to sing could
help tackle this climate thing so I can't stay in
love with my wife, my.

S2 (19:13):
Yeah, it feels good to be long. Yeah. Carbon neutral internet, yeah,
my word. Oh. Station sponsor.

all of the hard work the descriptions is Susie Hill.
Great to be here again, isn't it?

S3 (19:59):
Oh, it's fantastic and so good to actually see an
audience at the ball again.

S6 (20:04):
We did it last year and it was a kind
of a hollow feeling. It was a hollow ball, but
it's it is something absolutely special, this time with the
carols by candlelight.

S4 (20:14):
And here they are, back again, back live at the bar.

S2 (20:17):
Tim Campbell family to Blue Touch Not got all my
sisters with me.

UU (20:26):
And now we.

S2 (20:29):
Bonnie Anderson, we're not cuts.

S3 (20:34):
Sort of white gown at the shoulder ruffles state,

S4 (20:37):
you can get it off, get it off, no

S2 (20:40):
BS. There is not a bee.

S4 (20:42):
Yeah, of course there's no bee, John. He overreacts so
much he's embarrassing.

S7 (20:46):
OK, listen, it's just it's about the song. I love
the song. Great song John Song Great song, Tim. Thank you.
But it's just it's not very Christmassy, isn't we? You know,
we need a little bit more.

S2 (20:56):
Santa Claus is on his way, but I got you.
I can't cool up

S4 (21:00):
everybody here the ball to help me out. I need
to find out what Christmas is about. When what's the
first thing that comes to your head? When I say
Christmas yelling out, it puts you up.

S2 (21:09):
Lots of children responded. It was shocking you a donkey
right now, but let me go to just a little
drama queen. Got it! Funny, I have

S4 (21:17):
got this one. OK? Introduce me again. This will be

S2 (21:20):
amazing. He rushes off to the right. Just wait to
see how Christmassy he is now. Please welcome back to the.
Mr Timothy Horace Lipson.

S3 (21:35):
Runs past a fireplace with stockings. He has an elf

S4 (21:39):
hat on Iranian red paint. What do you call that?
Oh no, this is the funky chicken. I'm Danny Strong.

S2 (21:46):
So we are fans singing the same song. You just
put a Santa hat on.

S4 (21:50):
Oh, excuse me, head here. Sorry.

S7 (21:53):
Now you just got yourself right now with everyone back
at the ball this year.

S2 (21:57):
Do you need to have a sit down?

S4 (21:59):
I could do with a tummy rub.

S2 (22:01):
Let's go with the sit down, shall we? Okay. We're
all excited to be together at Christmas, who isn't so
much

UU (22:08):
as I am duty in front of the fireplace. Rob
Mills comes in lantern space.

S4 (22:15):
Yeah, I'll take it. Just the

S3 (22:16):
space suit. Silver. Sorry, we're carrying brown case. I'm off
to the moon.

S4 (22:20):
Got myself a golden ticket.

S3 (22:24):
Pulls that golden ticket from case.

S2 (22:27):
I can't remember a rupture.

S4 (22:29):
Sorry, Chuck. Hang on just a minute. It's a window seat.

S3 (22:34):
Flashes his big ticket around,

S2 (22:37):
oh,

S4 (22:37):
wait, that that is my vacuum cleaner. Little pull off,
that sucks. Thank you very much.

UU (22:44):
Thank you. I'm here all night. Geez, thank you. Yeah,
he

S5 (22:49):
he's just he's just been cheeky. Surely he's not going
to miss out on Christmas, right?

S7 (22:54):
Should we remind him of what day it is tomorrow?

S3 (23:05):
Screen at the back. Three dancing gingerbread bangles and flanked
by large Christmas trees. The star here at the beach
in the Russian

S2 (23:13):
bunny, singing in

UU (23:14):
front of the hills again. After spending. It has

S2 (23:31):
a sort of sanctuary, but said up laws are in
a

UU (23:34):
lawsuit that had no chance he. And to be able
to see. So. Children, the children dancing in the crowd now.

(24:29):
Good money

S2 (24:31):
and for

S4 (24:32):
good, I love that song, and I love Christmas. I know,
but being an astronaut is everything to me. It gives
me the tingles even more than when I was nominated
for Best Actor in Grease The Musical in 2013. Tell
me more. Tell me more. Thank you. Thank you. I've
started them all, all the planets, the Moon, the big

(24:54):
burning yellow thing, the Sun, yes, the Sun. Yes, thank you.
Ever since I was a kid, you know what?

S7 (25:01):
Cut the space talk. I want to say sorry because
I've really wanted to spend Christmas together,

S4 (25:07):
but I did write you guys a letter 200

S3 (25:10):
relationships, a polish.

S5 (25:12):
If you stop talking about

S7 (25:13):
space and astronaut stuff, that

S2 (25:15):
you're okay. Hit it, John pulls out of the top.
Rob is set up on the screen behind them. Rob Slater.

UU (25:28):
It was a time of unrest,

S2 (25:30):
and I received some good. A golden ticket

S4 (25:34):
might take some form, it starts taking

UU (25:36):
up space. So now I really am. OK, so enjoy
Christmas stuff, shops star.

S4 (25:43):
Yes, Rob, I know you want to stay here, don't you?
I mean, this is what we do every year. The tradition,
we're here at the ball. We finally got an audience back.
You can't go into space. All right. Do you want
Rob to stay here at the ball?

S2 (25:56):
Yes.

S4 (25:57):
You have a single along with me and bring two
Christmas spirit back to the mall you made.

UU (26:07):
Rockin around the Christmas tree at the Christmas party, yes,

S2 (26:12):
pouncing Santa's head along the word, see every everybody try
to stop rockin around the Christmas tree, let

UU (26:22):
the Christmas spirit ring. Later, we'll have some

S2 (26:27):
pumpkin pie and

UU (26:28):
we'll do some time. Then we get. Feeling when you
hear Bonnie and Rob fighting over Christmas stuff instead. You see,
once you stop dancing reindeer on the screen, the don't

(26:50):
team rockin around the Christmas tree. As part. Mistletoe Hung,
where you can't see every trying to stop. And around
the Christmas tree, have a happy Father's Day with everyone
dancing never to hold some. That is amazing.

S2 (27:27):
Amazing.

S7 (27:28):
And I really get it. You have the chance to
fulfill your boyhood dream, but it's just such late notice
and we're putting on a show here.

S4 (27:38):
Oh, oh, that's a art that's in two songs. I
just don't know what to do, honey. I can sing
two songs.

S2 (27:46):
Yeah, we don't want to be greedy and sing two songs,

S5 (27:49):
right, Tim?

UU (27:51):
Three. Never go,

S2 (27:55):
if you must. But we're another. We've got to find
somebody to replace

S4 (27:59):
you on Christmas Eve of 09. Yeah, I got a
taxi for astronaut mills. That's me. I'm here. That you
can't sing. Can you may only sing one song because
we don't want to be greedy. Oh well, yeah. Give
it a taxi driver. My shirts. I should

S3 (28:17):
just navy shorts

S4 (28:18):
drive south to the space launch. Oh, do you mind
this is your great idea? He's the Cajun taxi. Oh,
he's going to the class. You know who I do
want to train for?

S2 (28:31):
Taxi Driver starts job around the radio. You know your
the mastermind

S3 (28:38):
dancing Santa and reindeer on the screen,

UU (28:40):
the Rev. Bobby. River's got to make it a town
in a big hurry to have a peek into the
freeway down. I got this right. John, what've you been

(29:06):
looking for? On Christmas Eve, the rock and roll their
lives begin to.

S3 (29:15):
Bonnie and Tim doing back up folk road up,

S2 (29:17):
speed up a shooting star.

UU (29:22):
Know said is kind of make. The Senate began looking
down at me getting. Wait. Rudolph, the baby. Oh. The

(29:48):
good guys are going

S2 (29:51):
to get heavy. It's it's happening.

S3 (29:53):
Rob, on screen and space capsule the out of sight.

S2 (29:57):
I did it. That's right, Neil Armstrong said Dora

S4 (30:02):
Dora the Explorer will have a great Christmas. We'll miss you. Yeah.
Stay safe, Robbie. OK, I'll see. Oh no way. I
forgot my toothbrush. No, no.

S3 (30:17):
Picture of cartoon rocket hitting

S4 (30:20):
skyward was them, so they got spare toothbrushes on board.

S2 (30:23):
No, you don't understand he's not going to see Santa.

UU (30:27):
Oh, now I'm crying. I'm going

S2 (30:30):
to.

S3 (30:39):
Income, the reindeer leading the sleigh was Santa's on board
sleigh full of presents. Two elves behind in green

S2 (30:49):
and red and white. Merry Christmas, Santa comes forward.

S4 (30:54):
Oh, well, well, well, look at this place, all these
beautiful faces. Oh, this is the best Christmas of all. Oh, well,
he was going to be Santa, but our

S7 (31:11):
best friend is in here.

S2 (31:12):
Santa M.T. Yeah, not here. Well, you know why that
is because he's here when

UU (31:26):
he pops up out of the sky.

S3 (31:32):
Cunningham to embrace him along with the taxi driver.

S2 (31:36):
I got homesick. And then just

S4 (31:39):
as I did, I saw some reindeer and a big smile. Oh, well,
who was that thing? I told Robbie he did a
good thing. You see, it doesn't matter what is under
that Christmas tree. It's who

S2 (31:59):
is around. It all seemed to stop throwing the ball
down the road here.

S4 (32:07):
And I do

S2 (32:08):
mean all, Oh, this is a

S4 (32:11):
precious yeah. Let's see. Rob, you were nominated for your
role in Grease The Musical 2013's Lead the Way. Well,
I'll just get out of these old things that oh.

S2 (32:25):
And hoping.

S3 (32:27):

to go blasting

UU (33:11):
a one off play, let me see.

S2 (33:17):
Jingle Ball speak up defeats mystery. Round the clock.

UU (33:23):
Instead of making managing the liquid that's coming. We. That's
the Jingle Bell, that's the Jingle Bell since.

S2 (33:50):
Thank you, Senator.

S4 (33:53):
What could be better? Well, you know, maybe the 30
bucks he owes me for the out? That'd be good.
Volunteer taxi driver. You see

S2 (34:04):
it. It doesn't matter

S4 (34:06):
really what happens. You just need a song from Santa,
don't you? Can I have both? Thirty bucks.

UU (34:14):
John. Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells. Oh, my God, do. Know.
Jingle Bells Jingle All the way.

S2 (34:38):
Santa joins in the singing

S3 (34:40):
elves, turn the sleigh around.

UU (34:46):
Here we go, I've been all the way down. Sandra,

(35:12):
back into the play.

S4 (35:16):
And I'll think those.

UU (35:18):
Elvis following behind.

S4 (35:23):
Waves to everybody.

UU (35:30):
We did let us.

S1 (35:38):
Vision Australia Radio Scorpio described simulcast of Vision Australia's Carols
by candlelight is sponsored by Bylong Carbon Neutral Mobile and internet,
proudly behind audio description for Aussies with a print disability.
It feels good to belong.

S6 (35:55):
And it feels good to be a part of carols
by candlelight for 2021, watching thousands of children, having a
great time at the ball, we're having a pretty good
time here too, aren't we, Susie?

S3 (36:06):
We certainly

S6 (36:07):
are. And the a bit of a puzzle there, who
the taxi driver was, we think it was 80 perfect.

S3 (36:12):
My run sheet for the next segment tells me it
was I was looking and thinking, I know that face

S6 (36:18):
if they didn't tell us quickly who it was. Now,
carols by candlelight is put on by Vision Australia. And
you can donate to help and support children with blindness
or low vision. And you can give online at Carols
Dot Vision Australia dot org. That's carols dot Vision Australia

(36:39):
dot org for to support Vision Australia. Vision Australia radio
is now or the simulcast has been broadcast all around
the Vision Australia network, right across regional Victoria, through Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Albury, Bendigo,
Geelong into Hobart, Devonport, Launceston and in New South Wales,

(37:00):
in Newcastle, Wollongong and through the two digital feed in
Sydney and in Brisbane. They will be taking us in
replay tomorrow, but we're here in the Melbourne studios now.
Coming up next. We've got we've got some morph from
the taxi driver. I think we've got some more from

(37:20):
Eddie Purrfect and Rob Mills and Bonnie Bonnie Anderson and
Tim Tim Campbell. Are we coming up next in the
next part of Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight from the
Sydney Maya Music Bowl? And I say once again, how
good is it to see so many people at the ball?

(37:41):
It was a very empty feeling last year.

S3 (37:43):
Oh, it certainly was. And I think the thing that
I love most is it's still daylight, so we can
see quite clearly. And all the families say with little
tiny kids all dressed up and just having the best
family time, which to me is what Christmas is all about.
So it's it's wonderful that way. It's been able to
have been put on again this year.

S6 (38:02):
So and the participation anyway. Now we go back to
when she Vision Australia come

S7 (38:09):
with a congenital cataract, which meant we had to have
surgery to have it removed mother and child. She now
wears a contact lens in her bad eyes and we
cover her goodbye with approach and that forces the brain
to use the weaker eyes. Yeah, but let's not. Winter
hates the patch. She had the first surgery when she

(38:30):
was three months old. It seemed like things were going well,
and then when we went in for another checkup, we
found out that there was some sort of a growth
that was blocking the view from getting hoarse ever since
the second surgery. We noticed that her eye started to turn.
We were told we had to put the contact lens
in a few days after surgery, and I just didn't
feel comfortable doing it. She still had stitches on her eye.

(38:53):
It was still bleeding. I just felt horrible doing it,
so I didn't do it. And then after a bit
of time, her I started to turn in. Once Vision
Australia came on board, it was just complete relief. Having
someone to navigate and sort of say, This is what
you need. These are the services that you need. She
was just an angel. Winter started out so clingy she

(39:15):
sort of blossomed into this really outgoing, confident little girl.
He knows what she was saying and God's kingdom how
resilient she is. I just want to say thank you
so much to Vision Australia for the support that they
gave Winter and our family. They've given us the confidence
to really help when to shine.

S4 (39:34):
Oh, isn't that such a great story? Welcome back to
business Australia's cows, like had luck presented by Amy. I
had a sense of relief in that story we went
to was just so powerful, palpable. We were just sitting
here transfixed by it.

S5 (39:46):
Yeah. And as you can see in that story, as
soon as Vision Australia stepped in, there was it was
like that instantaneous. There was like clarity straight away.

S4 (39:52):
Yeah, and that's what's so important about tonight and that
confidence and direction Vision Australia can give families is so
hot warming and so essential. So tonight is our big
chance to help Vision Australia keep on helping kids like
winter that are blind or have low vision. So head
online to give to dot com or you can call
one 800 42 2077 now kids.

S5 (40:14):
Can you believe that Santa was here? Believe it. I mean,
he's so busy tonight. Yeah, he was that the best

S4 (40:22):
when he stops at here goes on his way. I mean,
my kids are always like, Make sure you give Santa
the letters. So yeah, you got to make sure these things.
But we also want to thank Bonnie Anderson, Rob Mills,
Tim Campbell, who also has so much fun in that
give em a round of applause.

S5 (40:38):
And thanks also to Rob's personal taxi driver, Eddie Perfect,
making a cameo huge as if you love him as
much as reader who's starring in nine to five the
musical Sydney's Capitol Theatre in February.

S4 (40:50):
Now Rob, Tim and Bonnie will be back later on
tonight for another performance. Now, usually at this time we
send the kids off to bed with Santa on his way,
but I don't know. I just think maybe just one
more song.

S5 (41:02):
I don't know if you've been good.

S4 (41:04):
Have you all been good this year? But the same
light frozen is everything a Broadway musical should be. It's spectacular,
and it's just so joyous. It's playing in Melbourne before
it's moved to Brisbane from February next year. It's really
is an unforgettable theatre experience. This cast is amazing.

S5 (41:24):
So singing Frosty the Snowman and Let It Snow, please
welcome the brilliant cast of Frozen.

UU (41:39):
Frosty the Snowman was a jolly. So where the cars
of times out of 10 nose and two eyes made
out of Paul Ryan, that he won a deal that he.

S2 (41:58):
A number of the junior cast who play Elsa and Anna,
the children

UU (42:03):
go to like blind date. There must have been some
magic in. It's not that they now. Did not exactly
to tell you a lot about the. Well. He could be.

(42:29):
The children say. Just the same as you and. The
little girls in blue and silver as you. Elsa and Anna. They.

S2 (42:44):
But if I ever saw the light.

UU (42:54):
In towns outside of shopping.

S2 (42:59):
Topping the way that women cast.

UU (43:05):
There is blue gowns, finally. Still. Five men in suits.
All the way home.

S2 (43:19):
This is all the time.

UU (43:23):
By some as he lobbies. So let's go. It's. Senator. Yes,

(44:04):
good guys going out to the story really got me to.
So I. I mean, so. Still. It's.

S3 (45:01):
I think that's something those young girls will never forget
the chance to perform at the mine music ball. Amazing.

S4 (45:07):
They don't. They have groupies that saga the cost of
frozen everybody you have around. All right. That's Typekit, I
think that's time to say, we can go to bed
and go to bed kids,

S5 (45:21):
you know, so my kids are home with my husband.
I say 10 more lollies. Oh, some soft drink and
do what you want. It's Christmas Eve, Santa says.

S4 (45:30):
You can have Santa. Wait, hey, now a man here
usually is tucked up at bed at this stage of
the law, so it's not. I'm just saying he's a legend,
but he needs his rest. That voice doesn't just happen.
You need to rest it. You need to water. Hydration
is important. You are in

S5 (45:46):
trouble with that one.

S4 (45:48):
Voice Boys tonight is built on 51 years in showbusiness.
He has a new album out this year. He's returning
to touring next year. His star shines as brightly as
it did all those years ago. Here to sing The
First Noel The One, The Younger Mr. Denis Walter.

S3 (46:14):
Spot center stage black tuxedo.

S2 (46:26):
He's no. He did say was to certain poor ship, it's.
In fields

UU (46:39):
where there. It is where they lay. There she. On
a cold. Windows nine. People also know. Oh, no. No. Oh.

(47:13):
I'll be. Spray that. They no longer care. I then
the stories start. Shiny. We all. And. Here. Drawing lines.

(47:48):
And so. Why did not? Your.

S2 (48:05):
Well. It's. Career. We.

UU (48:30):
Thanks. And here is. Oh, it's hard. Oh, you. On

(49:28):
his third day. Oh.

S3 (49:50):
The skies starting dimming very much around the ball.

S8 (49:54):
It's good to be here. In fact, these days, it's
good to be anywhere. Wonderful to see you. I've spent
the last 21 months largely talking on the radio and
3W and hello to all the people who are listening
through nine radio 2GB for ABC six right around Australia tonight.

(50:16):
And hello to everyone watching, of course, on Channel nine.
But it's good to have a chance to not be talking,
although that's what I'm doing now. But to be singing,
it's a good feeling and it's great to see all
of you people here and you're making those things together
on the end of your arms. It's really good. So good.

(50:37):
Now what I want you to do because tonight Christmas
Eve is an opportunity for people who can't sing to sing.
Hands up anyone who is a really, really bad singer. Oh, great.
I'm looking forward to this already. All you have to
remember as we go through this song. Two words you

(51:00):
up first. Silver bells. Here we go. City's sidewalks, busy

(51:20):
sidewalks dressed in half. They star in the air, there's
a feeling of Christmas. Get ready for it. Before laughing
and children smiling,

S2 (51:36):
cheering, smile,

UU (51:38):
the smile. And on.

S2 (51:42):

UU (51:44):
You will hear. Here we go. You mean. Ice crystals,

S2 (51:48):
snowflakes, red.

UU (51:55):
It's Christmas time in the city.

S2 (52:10):
Soon it will be

S8 (52:12):
Christmas Day, just a couple of hours. All this street lights,
all those bright lights blazing, a bright red and green
as a shopper

UU (52:25):

see

S8 (52:33):
the kids bugs

S2 (52:34):
dance in Santa

S8 (52:37):

UU (52:38):

S2 (54:17):
You are an absolute

S4 (54:19):

S5 (54:22):
to Christmas and it's so emotional being up here tonight.
It's it's a reminder of what Christmas is about families
to see you all. But let's lift our lights. Can
we send

S4 (54:33):
them up because you start to look beautiful now the
lights are going down.

S5 (54:36):
It looks beautiful all night.

S4 (54:38):
Oh, candlelight, so gorgeous. I love.

S5 (54:41):

I knew. I cry sorry. My hope as a national

ambassador for Vision Australia is that it's all about enablement.
Possibility plays guitar and it's all about the hope. I
have put my heart on

I shut my eyes in order to see Gaga.

Now our next to perform has shared the lives and
definitely kept the Senate title on social media in the
last 18 months with their home antics. Often they talk
separately Tim with his top ten eighties dance floor album,
and Anthony with his sold out show Together Again concept.

S5 (01:05:50):
But tonight the boys have swung by to bless us
with a duet. Tim Campbell and Anthony Collier with Christmas Baby,
please come home.

S2 (01:06:04):
They're singing Deck the Halls. That it's not like Christmas
at all, Tim, at the piano. I remember when you
were here all the fun that we had last

S3 (01:06:23):
year, sparkling epaulettes on his jacket.

S2 (01:06:28):
The stars coming down

S3 (01:06:32):
three backing singers to his

S2 (01:06:33):
right ear for lots of people around.

UU (01:06:41):
Baby, please come home. The church

husband Anthony

S2 (01:06:50):

please come home. They're singing Tap Dance. But it's not
like Christmas at all. When you eat all the fun

(01:07:16):
that we had last year, Anthony's in a singing tap dance.
But it's not like the sparkling top over the top
of it. When you hear all the time that he had,
she

UU (01:07:37):
goes on to get those girls up and

S2 (01:07:40):
dancing. Here we go. Chris, let's. Oh. Chris Cuomo, big
stuff gone bad. Chris, what's in there for a lot

(01:08:01):
of people?

UU (01:08:04):
Dad, please come home. The church

S2 (01:08:09):
bells in. Oh, pinging insults blew up if he says,
please go home when you see dead in our hearts.
But it's not like Christmas at all. I remember.

UU (01:08:30):
You have to treat this like contraception.

S2 (01:08:45):
Things that maybe he's done to the same deck the halls,
but it's not like Christmas at all. I remember when
you love the fun.

UU (01:09:07):
The way this

S2 (01:09:10):
could be used to

UU (01:09:14):
stage maybe play. Back.

S2 (01:09:27):
How are you doing?

S3 (01:09:28):
Anthony encourages applause. Are you ready

UU (01:09:33):
to come home to me? Business. You guys are fantastic.
Thank you.

S4 (01:09:51):
Merry Christmas, Dallas. Hello, boys, how are you? Good to
say about how good was that.

S5 (01:09:57):
And you know, it's great. Anthony is going to be
back a little late to take our breath away. Eighteen
consecutive years he's been doing Carols Richwood since we started
when he was three.

S4 (01:10:08):
Know it's so crazy.

S5 (01:10:09):
Hey, Uncle Doug, I'm good to go, Doug. How long
have you been choirmaster for?

S4 (01:10:15):
Doug and Dave has been alive.

S2 (01:10:17):
Thirty three years

S5 (01:10:19):
and eight year work in the team hard keeping him
in top shape,

S4 (01:10:23):
loving every moment of it. I mean, he is just
his uncle, Doug, just the nicest guy to work with
Guys Choir, is he?

S2 (01:10:32):
Well, that

S4 (01:10:33):
needed to be so much more enthusiastic. Thanks a lot. Yeah,
you guys are not coming back next year, Doug. You've
got a spare choir, haven't you? You celebrated a very
special birthday this year. How old are you this year?

S2 (01:10:45):
Eighteen eighty.

S4 (01:10:50):
You look fantastic. You gave me a hug before I'd
say what I thought you were going to break me,
you're still so strong. It's incredible, Doug. So we're thrilled
to have you here.

S5 (01:10:59):
And we're proud to have Doug as part of our
Kairos family for for so many years. I think you
are the face of Carol's uncle, Doug. So we've asked
him to perform his favorite carol tonight.

S4 (01:11:10):
Yeah, this is very special. Supported by the Carols Choir
Uncle Doug Haywood and Mary's boy child.

S3 (01:11:22):
Black. Standing center stage choir flanked behind one left and right.

UU (01:11:29):

crazy for dogs like their

S4 (01:14:44):
Big Dog fans back, the Big Dog heads back there
in the quiet now. How do you follow that? I mean, honestly,
you can't. Should we end the night? No, no. Let's
not do that because it takes two people to follow that.
I have five rice and Bonnie Anderson, I say, goes
from strength to strength with his honest songwriting and his
once in a generation vocal ability. You want to see more.

(01:15:04):
And he's announced a national tour for April and May
next year with his band to get on his website.

S5 (01:15:12):
And what about Bonnie and soul, right? I mean, we
know from the stage and screen she's a true triple threat,
and she's got loads more to say on an upcoming
new album

S4 (01:15:20):
than join forces. He loves Bonnie. They've joined Voices Tonight,
singing That's what Christmas means to me. Here's Bonnie and Isaiah.

UU (01:15:33):
How are you doing? Let me hear.

S2 (01:15:40):
Funny in a shiny emerald green gown.

UU (01:15:45):
And a black hole in a sinkhole, not just not.
Quite a scene captured by. What? Obviously, this would have
been on top, this has been.

It seems to. But before. These things morphing. All these
things have not. Mama. You know, you

what just has a little. To keep you out of
this hole, a consumer

S2 (01:16:56):
wants them for the Christmas has been.

UU (01:17:25):
Trust me. This means more behavior, all these things they
have to. Oh, yes, he. All this is another reason. David?

(01:17:55):
States and to.

S3 (01:18:12):
Skies quite dark now, which brings out the lights of
the candles in the audience. Lots more

S5 (01:18:18):
to come. Mission Australia's carols by candlelight. Presented by Aimee.

S4 (01:18:23):
The exciting carols debut of international superstar Tones and I.

S5 (01:18:27):
Anthony CALEA returns with two breathtaking

S4 (01:18:30):
numbers Joe Camilleri and the Black Sorrows let loose with
a Tom Petty gem.

S5 (01:18:35):
And if that's not enough, we also let David Lee

try and stop me

S5 (01:18:41):
with Sister Mahalia

S2 (01:18:42):

Stay with us! Australia.

S2 (01:19:22):
Carl, when it first turns you on, but I know
we connected, yes, sometimes folks, might you? You're wrong and
you feel rejected. Got it. His story never arrived, so
I wrote a song to set things right because I'm
grateful to belong in your wide world of unlimited data, right?

(01:19:50):
You fill me up with useful facts. Like to put
stuff first. Before we met, I hated cats and I
just thought you should know. You know, my wonderful, whimsical
with the sister and hall watching six hours of old
Oscar speeches, finding a site that sells medical bleachers, chat

(01:20:15):
and on a forum about stuff that tastes like blue
learn and how to turn spinach. In the past, shooting
aliens with some kid in Alaska and how the air
gets cleaned was way up in your diet. You film

(01:20:35):
my phone with apps and meetings now and apply. I
never knew that girls could sing, and I just thought,
you should know. You know, my wonderful, whimsical, weirdly irresistible,
and if everyone's which

UU (01:20:53):
I espouse, the folks who paid for me to sing
could help tackle this climate thing so I can't stay
in love with my wife and my.

S2 (01:21:04):
Yeah, it feels good to be long. Yeah. Carbon neutral internet, yeah,
my word. Oh. Station sponsor and

S6 (01:21:15):
bringing it to you from the Vision Australia Radio is
Susie Hill, who's been doing the audio description. I'm John
Westland and we're in our studios here bringing you the
simulcast of carols by candlelight from Channel nine. And it's
great to be with you, and it's awesome to be
able to watch the night or the day end and
the night begin. It's such a good feeling to watch

(01:21:37):
that the way that the ball transforms from bright light
all the way through to darkness and see the the
candles come right up and really show.

S3 (01:21:47):
And it's so clear tonight as well, which is fabulous.
The city lights behind

S4 (01:21:52):
the shutters, carols by candlelight presented by Amy. Know we've
had such a good time and I know that the
night is now upon us is the time you almost
want to relax it just before Christmas. You kind of
want the stress to get out of your body.

S2 (01:22:06):
Rock the house down where rock,

S5 (01:22:09):
rock the house, dance the cool kids. Say it, David.
All right. Well, he's ready for some doggy dance.

S4 (01:22:14):
I am ready for Dougie. Dancing always signs up, Uncle Doug.
I'll go down to his hands up for sure. We've
got some bona fide legends in the house tonight. The
Black Sorrows have sold over two million albums won for
Best Group, but at 73, Joe Camilleri is an Aria
Hall of Famer who has still got a baby.

S5 (01:22:35):
They will be touring in the New Year to support
their number one selling album, St George's Road, but in
the meantime, they are here to help.

S4 (01:22:43):
That's right stuff. Rap and presence push the coffee table back.
Everybody here you ready to rock? Let's shake a leg
with a Tom Petty classic. Here is Joe Camilleri in
the Black Sorrows this Christmas all over again.

S2 (01:23:02):
Band on stage where it's clear the Smiths have again.

UU (01:23:11):
Decorations outside of town. Everybody is saying. All the bells
are ringing, and I swear. Three guitars on keyboards, drums.

(01:23:43):
Relative to. Haven't seen them

S2 (01:23:48):
in a long,

UU (01:23:50):
long time. But I just don't understand now and explain
this size. Yes, ma'am. Kids have. They are starting to.

(01:24:22):
The business has a rocky time somebody might either in
the midst. Oh. Chris Smith. Coming fact. Appeared to be

(01:24:49):
by your father. Hope you have a good one. My
guess is. Yes. Oh, yeah. Oh. Look, and. And again.

S2 (01:25:34):
It's great.

UU (01:25:39):
Oh. Again. Everybody have a wonderful Christmas and look after yourselves.

S2 (01:26:00):
Teacher Verner in the background on a screen

UU (01:26:02):
to give it a. It's just

S4 (01:26:07):
unbelievable. Absolutely, Tom, the stuff, I thank you everybody performing
here tonight, not only helping celebrate Christmas but also helping
support the measure. Amazing work of Vision Australia and U2
can help and continue to brighten the lives of kids
who are blind or low vision.

S5 (01:26:25):
This is their one big night of fundraising, so please,
if you can help light up your life by donating
to give to carols dot com or by calling one
800 42 20 77. Now, David, can you believe that
we are actually here tonight? Know and we have

S4 (01:26:45):
the beautiful audience? Yeah, you guys are fantastic tonight and
it is so thrilling to be anywhere after the last
couple of years we all have, so it's so great.
Linda Can was up and shows how you're looking tonight
now because you look spec Tash. Now we having fun.
Are you guys having a tight?

S5 (01:27:05):
But Christmas, like really, really having fun.

S4 (01:27:12):
Yeah, that's right. We are very needy at Christmas time,
we need that money. I look forward to your year
round bank meeting. 24 seven. Look it up again. That
number is one 800 42, 20 77. An individual you pay,
probably if you went to a theatre, argue to pay.
Probably top dollar to see these next three performers strut

(01:27:33):
their stuff. You put them together and you don't just
have superstars, you've got a super group. This needs to happen.
This super group needs to happen.

S5 (01:27:39):
Yeah, and these ladies are the top of their game
and they have been for more than a decade performing
sleigh ride. Please put your hands together for Christie Whelan, Browne,
Esther Hannaford and Lucy Jurek.

S3 (01:28:00):
Ladies all dressed in

S2 (01:28:01):
white gowns, lots of frills, and Francis. Just hear those
sleigh bells jingling, ring ting tingling, Lucy, come on, it's
lovely by the ball sleigh ride together with you outside.
Christie's former friends are calling you frankly elegant, and it's

(01:28:22):
lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with giddy up,
giddy up. Let's go, let's go. Let's look at the
show where

UU (01:28:33):
I wonder and also give the opportunity up. Giddy up.
It's great. John Lennon song this and being cozy on
the west side to have a. That would be let's

(01:28:55):
hit the road for us. Come on, it's lovely man
for a sleigh ride together with you.

S2 (01:29:05):
There's a birthday party at the home, up on the gray.
It'll be the perfect ending of a perfect day.

UU (01:29:15):
It'll be really like the picture treat from Peter and
my watch. That's.

S2 (01:29:25):
The nearly nothing in the world can buy, and they
pass around like coffee and the pumpkin pie.

UU (01:29:39):
These wonderful things. Plus, he's one of. Those sleigh bells
jingling being ding ding a ling. In the morning when
the first layer I gather with you. Snow is falling
and friends are calling you. Sleigh ride, together with you,

S2 (01:30:08):
Kerry, at

UU (01:30:08):
University of Connecticut. The show where, you know, I'm

S2 (01:30:14):
tired on social media,

UU (01:30:18):
giddy up, giddy up. Hey, John. The army not. Up together,
like the said there would be.

S2 (01:30:37):
Licensing Icon Resorts. It's lovely when the first layer to
go with you.

UU (01:30:46):
Lovely weather for a sleigh ride to get their act
together the first. Do you? Move. The Andrew Sisters, we
got new stars in town that was

S4 (01:31:07):
fantastic, thank you, guys, you look glorious too. It's a bug.
It's just a bug. Literally just attacked my head.

S5 (01:31:12):
It's just about

S4 (01:31:14):
it's freaks me out and you're going to be OK.
Freaks me out this year right now. Yeah, it was

S5 (01:31:20):
so small

S2 (01:31:21):
I could hardly see it, but it happened.

S4 (01:31:25):
Like that happened.

S5 (01:31:26):
There is so much talent still in theater, including this
one right here, and our next performers absolutely underline that
it is the cast of Hamilton. Oh, it's one of

S4 (01:31:36):
the hottest shows in the world. They are about to
perform a special rendition of A Much Love Carol with
their signature Hamilton vibe. This performance will feature languages from
some of the cultures represented uniquely in this diverse cast,
alongside the languages of Chicago and the Warren Jury Peoples.

S5 (01:31:54):
We can't wait for this one Durex from the Hamilton
stage in Sydney ahead of its opening in Melbourne in March.
Here is the Australian cast of Hamilton with Carol of
the drama.

S3 (01:32:10):
Showing on the screen behind the choir and the orchestra.

S2 (01:32:14):
No, I got to go mother of the urination. Know
what are they going to believe? I know what I
mean by the shutterbug. Do you know what commercial whaling,
depending on the united calender?

S4 (01:32:23):
During my dilemma on dilanian body war rhetoric, we see
all you Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mothers always was.
Always will be me.

S2 (01:32:34):
Come they told me. But I come from Perth, a
newborn king to see PA

S3 (01:32:46):
costs on a strict stage.

S2 (01:32:49):
Finesse give sweeping.

UU (01:32:56):
So lay before our king.

S2 (01:33:06):
The women in white sparkly outfits to honor him. When
we close.

UU (01:33:18):
No one. Bob Bob Hawke for time.

S2 (01:33:37):
Cards to bring up a. They tell your story. We're talking.

UU (01:33:48):
On July two, towns will start.

S2 (01:34:00):
Oh, my God. Other women coming in red.

UU (01:34:21):
The. Several projections on the screen from different angles. Every
night in border town zones, stock dogs and lamb kept time. My.

(01:34:55):
I pay my. Blah blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah blah.

S2 (01:35:08):
And he smiled at me, but no one found me
and my family.

UU (01:35:17):
I want a pub who might be in

S2 (01:35:24):
touch in Northern Ireland. I was sitting. Jamie Oliver

UU (01:35:31):
might eat a meal tomorrow and buy Wolf

S2 (01:35:36):
a golden. Armando, multibillion

UU (01:35:44):
dollar. Yeah, got. Now, wasn't that just.

S5 (01:35:57):
Well, our next act is all about family, which is
really why we're all here tonight, so please keep the
families that Vision Australia supported in mind by donating it,
give to Carol's dot com or by calling one 842
2077 now. Pardon me for a moment, I get a
little bit warm and fuzzy because I love hearing this

(01:36:19):
man sing. And I know that nothing puts a smile
on his face more than singing with his little sister,
Mahalia and her band. Her band soul mates have toured
with the likes of Lionel Richie and The Roots, but
I know that she finds this incredibly special to so
performing my favourite silent night. Welcome to the carol stage,

(01:36:42):
my dear friend David Campbell and his extraordinary sister, Mahalia Barnes.

S3 (01:36:58):
Pull back up singers, piano and double bass. So.

S2 (01:37:11):
Holy night, all is

S3 (01:37:18):
calm, David, now in all of touch, all

S2 (01:37:22):

The Mahalia and sequined black mom.

UU (01:38:13):
First claim. Hey, there's more history this. Kelly. See? Stablemates for.

(01:38:52):
Safety is going

S3 (01:38:57):

S2 (01:39:06):
And.

UU (01:39:09):
In. Right. He said. My. Let me. Stay with

S2 (01:39:49):
Never Leave Me

UU (01:39:53):
Alone. This. With great TV ratings, James. Z's lawyer. See?

S2 (01:41:04):
Sleep in a hedge fund, the.

UU (01:41:23):

S7 (01:41:31):

S2 (01:41:35):
Ethan and Hailstone, long haired boys have

S7 (01:41:39):
albinism which affects our hair, skin and eyes that were
the same as everybody else. Even with a disability, you
still can read things you want. Yeah, one of my
biggest achievements was my purple belt. Karate was the junior
high school counselor, and now I am the junior school

(01:42:01):
counselor is to help us get around in a safe
way that we know we

S3 (01:42:06):
have with their white walking canes.

S7 (01:42:09):
Help us to see, and we have nine of us
that help us to read the Vision Australia holiday program.
I want all different from me, and I know you're
about Vision Australia holiday program, a score from out of 10.
I give them a

S2 (01:42:27):
nine point nine. I would change them. And 500 hours
of hunger.

S7 (01:42:37):
That's all. I'm really excited to be an Australian because
I can do I ambassador because I love supporting all
the families and kids that have disabilities like me,

with the cast of Hamilton and the way they were
kind of inclusive, which is all about this kind of night.
It's all inclusive

S3 (01:44:11):
now. Absolutely the different languages. I try to work out
how many of them I knew they

S6 (01:44:16):
couple that might have got put. There are a couple
that slipped past me.

S3 (01:44:19):
Yeah, but just fantastic to see that. And I believe
that's part of what the Hamilton story and the cast
is all about.

S6 (01:44:27):
Yeah, and I kind of can't wait to see when
it comes to Melbourne, and that's coming down in March
this year. You're listening to Vision Australia Radio's coverage of
the carols by candlelight coming from the Sydney Myer Music Bowl,
and we will be hitting back. Right now, I think

S2 (01:44:46):
teams have shown we really can overcome anything,

and that's why we know you can help us raise

S5 (01:45:17):
Merry Christmas and welcome back to Vision Australia's carols by
candlelight presented by Amy. And this year's theme is Vision
Australia is brighter together. Everything is stronger and brighter when
we come together as a community.

S4 (01:45:30):
Yeah, these last few years have certainly taught us that.
And tonight we come together to help Vision Australia light
up for Christmas for children who are blind or have
low vision.

S5 (01:45:38):
Donate online at Give to Carers Dot Com or phone

David Campbell and my sisters and.

S4 (01:45:49):
I love saving my sister. It's all about family. And
speaking of family, we have a very appropriate track with
tonight performed by pop superstars who also happen to be family. Shepherd,
a Brisbane band who have had a billion streams across
all platforms, and their latest album Kaleidoscope Eyes, peaked at
number two on the Aria charts.

S5 (01:46:06):
I wanted to write a song for those who might
be having a difficult Christmas, giving warmth and

S4 (01:46:12):
such enormous pleasure. We present Shepherd and Christmas without you.

S3 (01:46:20):
This is pre-recorded and showing on the screen behind the
orchestra and the.

S2 (01:46:34):
Christmas time is almost too. And just like that, we've
lost another year.

UU (01:46:46):
Where do the seasons go from?

S2 (01:46:52):
Sunny skies

UU (01:46:54):
to snow? Oh. Belongs to say it's true. It ain't

S2 (01:47:04):
Chris Sweat.

UU (01:47:13):
Perils of the many. I still can't live inside of my.

S2 (01:47:26):
Does it in my mind?

UU (01:47:37):
I'm sad to say it's true. Chris Nelson. But then I.
The door to the second sees a shiny. Be fun
across the ocean and tells me, all right, and it

(01:48:00):
kind of gives me concern. I'll see you Monday soon.
If I can find the strange.

S3 (01:48:10):
Drums, guitars, sweat. One vocalist on keyboard

UU (01:48:15):
and another vocalist just singing me stockings on fire. They.
Their bet is to

S2 (01:48:22):
bring a smile.

UU (01:48:31):
Oh, no, oh my, no. It's the way she's mocking me.
Oh my God. But then there is talk the circumstances.

(01:48:57):
Cross feels. The Typekit is, of course, because I've seen
one day. Say that I'll see your. Because I know

(01:50:04):
I have the strength to make. This Christmas. Thank you, everybody,
merry Christmas.

S3 (01:50:15):
Amazing to see the live orchestra and choir singing

S4 (01:50:19):
these guys the pre record. It was

S5 (01:50:21):
so beautiful. And how beautiful does our audience look tonight
with your can

S4 (01:50:26):
raise them up. Let everybody home see you. It's absolutely
glorious here tonight. Well, it's that time, thanks to choirmaster
Doug Haywood, who's out front for this performance conducting his choir.
So get ready going to raise up candles once you
to join in this tradition, as the Carols by Candlelight
Choir perform that

S3 (01:50:46):
Hallelujah chorus, and the tradition is to stand for this
King George, that's something that many years ago. So I'm
going to stand up.

UU (01:52:18):
So they all have. So. Go, go, go. All.

S3 (01:54:19):
John Foreman with the symbols

UU (01:54:23):
of our country. Well done, Team Doug and John

S5 (01:54:27):
Foreman on symbols of a critical moment of the night
and it didn't stuff it up.

S4 (01:54:32):
Here's the symbol of Christmas now we are on a roll.
One of my favorite returns now

UU (01:54:37):
from earlier in the evening. You know where it is.
To see what he's

S5 (01:54:42):
wearing, we just saw a glimpse of Anthony Kelly, I mean,
the man shines. Now if you want to see us
together again, concert New South Wales and Queensland, he'll be
touring in March and Victoria, he's back down here in May.
I mean,

S4 (01:54:54):
he has it all. He's one of the great voices
we've ever produced, but he is going to blow us
all away right now with Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Here he is.

S3 (01:55:04):
Anthony Kelly and he always has amazing costumes.

S2 (01:55:11):
Have yourself a merry little Christmas, let your heart been.
From now on, our troubles will be

S3 (01:55:28):
out of sight, Sylvia spangly suit, fringing cape at the
back

S2 (01:55:36):
silver boots have yourself a merry little Christmas. Your heart beat.

UU (01:55:51):
From now on, I try. Speed in. Here we

S2 (01:56:05):
go. As you know, the. Happy Golden Day.

UU (01:56:13):
Oh, they'll. The friends who are into

S2 (01:56:21):
once governments there once or

UU (01:56:28):
small. Through the years,

S2 (01:56:34):
we all will be together.

UU (01:56:41):
I. And the shiny sort of.

S2 (01:56:59):
Have you seen the beginning of Christmas?

UU (01:57:14):
We're told in a single day. Have you thought?

S2 (01:57:27):
Faithful friends.

UU (01:57:32):
Gather data to put us on Super. We need to
get the. Sunny, so. A merry

S2 (01:58:12):
little Christmas. Australians have. The Christmas. Have Havasu. A merry
little Christmas and.

S4 (01:58:50):
How are you doing? So lovely to see you all
again here this year. I'm so excited, so excited to
see my family here again, and I'm so excited to
get out of my truck. I said to Coniglio, who
makes my Carole's outfits, I said this year, I just
want something subtle.

S3 (01:59:13):
Anything less than subtle.

S4 (01:59:15):
Tick, tick to everyone watching at home who are in
isolation or can't be with your family this year because
of travel restrictions. My heart does go out to you,
but I hope that tomorrow you are able to find
some chia somehow to celebrate Christmas. This next one that
I would love to sing is one that I've wanted

(01:59:35):
to sing for for many years, and I feel as though,
especially with what we've gone through in the last couple
of years and I suppose what's ahead? It's quite fitting,

S6 (01:59:45):
so I hope you enjoy it. It's called the impossible dream.

S2 (01:59:54):
Two three. The impossible three. To find. The unbeatable foe.

UU (02:00:13):
To be. With a pair of some. Two of. Who
in the room

S2 (02:00:27):
tonight, oh.

UU (02:00:33):
Like the other side of the ball. You mentioned. From before.
To try and your arms to be. Two reasons. The

(02:01:03):
unreachable star. I quit. Just to. For. This is where.

(02:02:00):
But we will be peace.

S2 (02:02:06):
When I left to my when?

All right. Best known for his acclaimed performance in Is,
This Guy's a Superstar. Simon Gleeson is absolutely a world
class singer, performer and actor. We are absolutely thrilled with him.

is live TV, everybody. Yeah, and we're not quite ready
for doing this. Give it up to the crew who
have to turn every act around every night. I don't

(02:51:59):
think they get enough recognition at Christmas time. They'll be
working well into Christmas. This grew bright.

It is safe and it's been so lovely having your
company tonight. Thank you for coming out and celebrating carols
with us. We hope you've had a wonderful time. We've
loved being up here.

S4 (02:52:14):
We have, but there's now only one person that can
close the carols properly. Mr. Simon Gleason is now ready
